Demons. Creatures from the depths of Limbo that have crept through the Rifts and into the bodies of Humans exposed to the Blood Moon, or Sanguinem Luna, as it's now called. Extremely powerful, both supernaturally and physically, Demons are not to be messed with. Most Demons have mental abilities, such as telepathy, and telekinesis, and occasionally some form of control over Fire as well, although most Demons cannot and will not use such powers. Most Demons can remember some parts of their lives, but most have lost the humanity to care.
Demons are fiercely territorial, so unless you are ruling side by side or are serving one, any opposition or another Demon is likely to be challenged. Most territory borders are guarded, except in the case of 'Lillith' or 'Seth', as they are known by in the Changed World. People know not to mess with these two.
A Vampire's bite cannot Change a person. However, they must drink blood to survive, and a bite is very pleasurable to a Vampire and whoever is on the receiving end. Vampires often show their affections this way, as it brings the two together as a bite can also link the pairs' minds, sharing memories, thoughts and feelings. Most vampires do this instinctively, although they can stop themselves if they really wished to.
Most vampires retained little, if not no memories of their previous lives. However, there are some that have retained it, and these people struggle to accept what they are now. These vampires desire to become what they used to be - Human. However, they cannot show this, they have to keep it hidden.
Werewolves, although no characters in the roleplay, are common, and dangerous. With a strength to rival a Demon, but limited mental capacities, Werewolves are easy to outwit but hard to escape once caught. A Werewolf bite cannot Change a human, but it has bone crushing pressure and it is agonizing. Werewolves are often used as guards because of this. There are exceptions, as always, and very few werewolves actually kept their IQs high. These are often out in the wild instead of accumulating with other Changed, as complaints often come through about the smell of 'Wet Dog'. Unfortunately, there are several Feral 'Wolves out there, which are extremely dangerous. They can only truly be killed with Silver.
Witches and Warlocks are up there with the Demons. High ranking in society, and can often control large areas of land. They can cast spells, although weak, and can clear clouds, cause fire to leap up from dead logs, or even turn a Moon Red, if there is enough energy around them, and they are powerful enough. For these reasons, demons and rulers often use them extensively, but use up their Energy.
Witches and Warlocks use Energy, which is magic from the other side of the Rifts. This Energy can only be obtained by them when they are sleeping, and Witches and Warlocks can be in a Rift Sleep for as many as 72 hours.
Angels are almost unexistant. In fact, only one Angel was Changed by the Blood Moon, and that was only after 4 Blood Moons. Large, feathery wings adorned her back...And were sliced off by the torture that the Demons carried out. Angels are almost unspoken of now, but in reality, Angels DO exist...They just cannot get through the Rifts, as there is nobody left on the Earth pure enough to inhabit...
Apart from 5 Humans...
Humans are the petty creatures, the blood banks, the things to be played with. Most of them can't even be classified as Humans anymore. At least not Pure Humans. They've been twisted, changed by indirect exposure after indirect exposure, to keep their blood useful but their minds fragile and broken. Most Humans are locked away now, too useful to be Exposed, and too broken for it anyway.
After some indirect exposure, some Humans may develop an Affinity with one Element. This is linked to Seraphic purposes, but most Humans do not discover their abilities until they've lost them. Humans can also reach into the Rifts, but not very easily. It takes a lot of focus, energy, and sometimes, adrenaline to pull things out of the Rifts.
Zombies are horrific, decomposing corpses that stink of rotting flesh and are pretty slow and stupid. They are THE most common Changed, and although classified as Supernatural, they aren't actually Changed at all. They are the dead that has been long buried, spent decades rotting under the soil. These creatures can be not long dead, or dead for thousands of years.
The Rifts is what began this all. A small tear in the Rifts between Earth and Limbo, and every other dimension at the same time as the Blood Moon tore a weakness, and let through spirits that Changed people into what they are today. These attached onto people Exposed and took over them. The Rifts are now weak, which is why Changed and Humans can reach into the Rifts and take useful items out, may this be a dagger, or a large sword, food, or water. The Rifts are the weakest on the Blood Moon, which causes all Changed to become more powerful on these nights.
Although this is a legend, the Fountain to The Other Side is said to allow Spirits of dead or loved ones to come and visit, for a short time. The Fountain is located on the most Beautiful spot on Earth, and looks like a waterfall, but with carved marble around the edges with engravings in a strange language. Spirits of those dead appear as if they are stepping out of the stream of water, and appear if made of Sunlight. The Fountain is said to look like this.
The 'school' is only named so because of the age range of the people there, and the things they do there. It's thought of as the 'high school' of the Changed, because most people there are the age of 'high schoolers'. It's also a refuge because there are beds there, and plenty of food...Werewolves have cages where they can stay on the Full Moon, and there are what used to be humans in the dungeons, as well as places to hang out for all Changed. It's a very large place, and a dangerous one, too, especially for humans. It's also named a school because older, more ancient spirits teach the younger ones from the Rifts how to use their new bodies...Or the other way around. Lead by 'Lillith' and 'Seth'.
