Moonsong

Everything speaks if you care to listen

0 · 240 views · located in Evalion Lands

a character in “24 Elements”, as played by RacoonMoon()

Description

Name: Moonsong
Age: 13
gender: Male
Element: Sound
element powers: He can create sounds from nothingness, can hear things from miles away, and also echolocation like a bat. Lastly he can alter what people hear.
Appearance: White wolf with long black ears
fear: Fast things because his echolocation can't react fast enough to pinpoint where they are every second.
weakness: sensitive hearing, overly loud noises. Also he's blind
personality: Moonsong is quiet and observant. he's quiet because when he speak he must switch attention from all the other sounds to his conversation. He prefers to send out his enhanced hearing and just learn everything there is to learn. He is usually very serious seeing (metaphorically) things as they are, as he can't read body language or see smiles or snarls.
history: Moonsong was born blind but where most wolves might be killed because of this his hearing made up for the lost sense. there were times when his cover as a healthy pup almost failed, for example when he was young he would scream in agony at the many forest sounds flooding his ears until the spirit wolf came to him and helped him conquer the sense, but it endured. He was able to pass off as a completely healthy wolf until his first winter when the near constant blizzards overran his senses. He was completely blind in this season and the leader soon found out his secret. He's alive today only because his extra sensory abilities help find prey and protect the pack from outsiders. However because he can't hunt or fight he is very low in the pack hierarchy (omega).

So begins...

Moonsong prepared to curl up in his spot. He sent out a series of barks in every direction waiting for vibrations to return to his ears. The first few vibrations came quickly reminding him that the rock face he detected earlier was directly behind him. The next set came back choppy telling him off trees to his right. He raised his head in surprise as it took much longer for the third set to come back to his ears. When they finally did come back it told him of trees in that direction as he suspected but also something indecipherable. The only time a sound came back indecipherable was during a blizzard or if he didn't know the sound. He cross referenced it with all other sounds he had already heard but it remained a mystery. He sent out his hearing but he mystery noise acted as a wall preventing him from going any further. With a sigh he got up and stretched his legs knowing he would have to investigate. If it was a new sound it would do him no harm to register it for his database but if it was a blizzard he might as well dig his own grave. As he set off he sent a constant steam of barks in that direction keeping himself informed incase anything changed.

He didn't even realize it when he entered the blizzard. He was too intent studying he sounds he could hear from inside it. Before he knew he was sitting blind, exposed to the blizzards wrath. Yes he was blind before but the constant swirl of the snow made it impossible for his echolocation to get an accurate reading. He sat down in this unknown place completely helpless. His fur barely helped against this unnatural cold and he let out a low whine. Suddenly a voice cut through the noise like a knife through butter. "Calm, calm the soul and the mind. Calm, calm until your heart beats in time. Close your eyes and imagine the world in a better place. Let your emotions send free to the air. Let your calmness take over. Calm, calm is in your body, let it seep into your soul" it sang sending hope into Moonsong. He got up, suddenly oblivious to the cold, and walked towards the voice. It was more beautiful than anything he'd ever heard and he couldn't resist traveling towards it. He didn't want to interrupt the beautiful singing but he knew he should let her (at least he thought it was a her) know he was listening. Hello he said tentatively. Except for her voice he couldn't hear anything but his own voice over the blizzard.

Wisp was about to disintegrate into mist and sit down again, when a voice cut through the air. She turned to see another wolf coming closer. It's eyes were sort of closed, but not as if it were squinting through the blizzard. She studied the wolf. She finally decided that it was blind. She then realized why the wolf was blind. It was the wolf of sound. "Hello wolf of sound. I am sorry for the blizzard. It must disturb your hearing. I am the wolf of spirit, named Wisp." It felt so good to say something and be understood. "What might your name be?" she asked. She then remembered the blizzard. Koli must have calmed down a little, but it was still swarming around them. She stepped closer to the wolf of sound and touched her paw to his chest, gently. She knew he wouldn't feel that much pressure, especially since she really wasn't a substance, but she wanted him to know she was there. "I am here." She spread out her wings, trying to block some of the blizzard.

Wisp smiled, but then realized the wolf wouldn't be able to see it. "Moonsong" She sang out, instead. She looked over to the ice wolf to see the blizzard come down a bit, but it was still wiping around them. She looked around, and spotted a couple of trees. She leapt over to them and turned into a mist again. She went sort of inside the trunk of a tree. At first there was silence, but then crackling tumbled towards the wolves, and the small tree fell. She then continued on, breaking and shifting, placing trees in a way that made a make-shift shelter. It took a while, but it was easier for wisp. She didn't want Koli to feel left out so she shifted a small iceberg to make a nice place for him to sit. She nudged Moonsong with her muzzle. "Follow my voice." She said, leading him toward the shelter to protect the wolves from the blizzard. She started to sing softly, with no particular words or notes, just singing.

Moonsong looked up as he felt the blizzard die down slightly. He gave an experimental bark to see if his echolocation was back to normal letting his hopes rise. The bark came back clearer than before but he could only read clearly up to a few yards ahead. He cocked his head in confusion as wisp did not show as clearly as normal wolves. He thought it could be because of the blizzard but he could detect another wolf and she was much clearer. He could tell it was a girl because he could catch a glimpse of a conversation she was having with another wolf. How many wolves are in this place he wondered recalling the few he could detect with his limited range. 4 he answered himself knowing there were probably many more beyond his senses.
He felt the spirit wolf nudge his muzzle and turned in her direction. He shivered a bit more from the weird sensation accompanying Wisp's touch than the cold. "Follow my voice." She said her voice easily overpowering the wind from the blizzard. She started to sing and he could hear her voice start to edge away indicating she was walking away. He started to follow her listening as her song cut through the blizzard just as easily as before but he soon stopped. Being led by her voice like this reminded him of his pack feeling he needed special assistance because he was blind. He sat down and let out a loud howl fighting the blizzard every moment. He had a rather nice howl but it wasn't something he did often because it hurt his hearing. He kept up the howl until he could gather everything he thought there was to know in this blizzard. When he finished he got up and padded to the hut where Wisp seemed to be leading him smiling all the way.
Sitting down in the hut he collected everything he had heard. There were in fact 7 wolves here and not 4 as he had previously thought. This was the only thing important in the blizzard as he couldn't hear any of their individual conversations over his howl. He lied down and contented himself to scouring the forest behind him taking pleasure in the meaningless sounds he could now hear. He hoped Wisp didn't mention his howl as it was quite rude of him to reject her help as he did.

Moonsong raised his head as he heard an unusual sound behind him. It stood out from the sounds of chirping birds and feeding prey. It sounded like the small cry of a wolf in trouble. He dismissed that it could be one of the wolves trapped in the blizzard because his senses were obsolete in that direction. No there was a wolf behind him in some kind of trouble. He gave a small bark to see if wisp had come into the hut with him and was disapointed to find she hadn't. Was she avoiding him because he had rejected his help? he wondered regretting his decision. No she's probably helping another one of the wolves right now he said trying to comfort himself. Helping as i should be he said turning in the direction the cry came from. He gave out another bark so that he could get a good map of the area before setting off in the direction the cry came from.
To keep his map as updated as possible he whimpered as he went drinking in the vibrations as they came back to him. He tried not to think as he followed the vibrations as whipering always brought back bad memories. He often whimpered like this when he was back in his pack so he could keep up with it's constant activity. Growling worked just as well but being the omega, growling just seemed like he was challenging everyone. When he whimpered everyone thought he was weak but everyone was okay with that. Everyone but him that is.
He stopped because he was nearing the point where the yelp had come from. He couldn't be sure of the exact reason why the wolf had given the yelp so he had to be careful. If it was a bear he would do his best to distract it while the wolf got away but if it was a wolf it would move too fast for him to make a difference. He stopped his front paw on the ground feeling vibrations tell him of the grounds lay out around him. There was a ditch a few feet in front of him and in that ditch was a wolf. He already had himself set on trying to find a way to get the wolf out of the ditch. He started tapping nearby trees to see if he could find some kind of vine to pull the wolf out with. After a few tries he found what he looking for. Looking up at the vine in the tree he started to create sounds hoping that they would be enough to push it from the tree. He was making slow progress with this method so after a while he started to snap the braches holding the vine up. By creating the sound inside the branch it was rather simple to snap them as the sound billowed out from their cores. He heard the vine drop at his feet and grabbed it in between his teeth. Standing at the side of the hole he tossed the end of the vine inside.
"Tie that to yourself and try to climb out," he called down into the hole before picking up the other end of the vine. "ready?" he asked prepping himself to pull. He doubted he had enough strength to pull the wolf out himself but he was willing to try. "Wisp help me." he mumbled around the vine before he started to pull.

Kida's ears flattened behind her as she thought she heard the small sound of twigs breaking. She didn't think much of it, but was a little surprised to see a vine of some sort fall down into the ditch. She stood up, taking on a defensive stance as she spotted the one who threw it down.

"Tie that to yourself and try to climb out,"

She heard the white wolf say. It didn't seem lie he was actually looking at her, which she thought was a little strange.

"ready?"

She narrowed her eyes, but relaxed a little. It as obvious he didn't mean any harm, but she didn't like the thought of getting help. "That's fine I can get out myself." She said, her voice calm but stern as she lightly scooted the vine aside. She crouched a little preparing for a jump, and then launched herself forward. A few sheets of glass-like objects appeared in front of her and she used them like wide steps, each of them making a slight cracking noise as she stepped on them until she leaped up onto the side of the ditch a couple of feet from the white wolf. The sheets of energy disappeared as quickly as they came and she turned to face the other wolf. "Now, what do you want?" She said impatiently, sitting down in the grass.

"That's fine I can get out myself." she said causing Moonsong to tilt his head in confusion. As far as he could tell there were no footholds she could climb out on so how did she expect to get out. "How do you expect to do that" is what he started to say before he heard he sound of her jumping and then glass cracking. Suddenly her voice was much closer with a definate tone of impatience. "Now, what do you want?" he heard her say. Moonsong would have responded quicker but he was still astonished she'd managed to get out of the ditch by herself. He now knew how Wisp must have felt when he had rejected her help. He could certainly say that it wasn't pleasant and that in fact it made him feel useless and hurt. He made a mental note of apolgizing to Wisp later but for the moment he let the vine drop from mouth. "Well I thought i was helping a wolf in need but if not i guess i'll be going." he said turning around and walking away. This was a rude gesture but then she had been rude to reject his help.
Suddenly he felt himself pitch forward facefirst onto the ground. He had tripped over a rock and in his anger he didn't bother to map the area before setting off. He realized that he must look pretty stupid to this wolf and with a bark he kept on his way without looking back. It had been a long time since he had humiliated like that. The last time he'd been humiliated by his blindness was when his den was attacked and he was forced to fight. That was the day his pack had sent him out thinking he made them look weak to other packs. In his thoughts he almost forgot to keep echolocating. He stopped himself with a bark to find a tree right in front of his muzzle. He started to growl as he sidepassed the tree. There was no way he would humiliate himself to this wolf again he said reading the vibrations as they returned to his ears.

Kida continued looking at him with irritation, even after he turned and started to walk away. She didn't need help at all, let alone wanted it, but she did feel a little bad for a moment. Whatever.., she thought to herself, preparing to also turn and go the opposite direction, only to stop as she heard a thud and and watched the white wolf fall face-first onto the ground. Her ears pricked up, a little surprised. He had managed to put together that vine quite nicely, but went and tripped on a simple rock? Then she remembered the wolves pale eyes that seemed to be looking at nothing. Was this wolf blind? It couldn't be.. She turned around as the wolf picked himself up and continued on, nearly running into a tree but quickly stepping aside.

"Hey, wait a minute!" She barked, jogging a little ways until she was standing beside him, though she kept her distance at one foot. "You're not possibly blind are you?" She asked, tilting her head a little. Had she really come across one of the elemental wolves? It didn't really seem likely, since she'd never met one before despite how long she'd been living in Evalion. "Uh.." she started awkwardly, trying to think of a way to put her words together. "Have you heard of...eh..the twenty four elements...by any chance?" If this was any normal wolf it would probably sound like a pretty strange question to ask.

Moonsong was focusing on receiving vibrations but even so he heard when the wolf barked at him to stop. Oh did she need more than just being ungrateful and rude now moonsong thought having no intention of stopping. "You're not possibly blind are you?" she asked with genuine curiosity. He didn't want to answer that question and he owed this wolf no favors so he stayed intent on his path. He could look pretty intimidating until wolves found out he was blind then he just became a game for them. Memories of being teased by his packs pups using him in various games flooded his mind before he pushed them away with another growl. Before he did that though he made sure that this wolf would hear none of muting most of the sounds that came from him. Despite his reluctance to speak to her he found himself saying "So what if I am." not bothering to keep the contempt from his voice. He let out a grimace as a gap in the vibrations came after his speech. He didn't like to speak while he moved for that very reason but to stop would make it seem like he actually respected this wolves' orders.
He was thinking of just muting all sounds that came from her when she asked a question that sparked his interest. "Have you heard of...eh..the twenty four elements...by any chance?" she said for once not sounding completely sure of her words. He stopped in his place and sat himself down tail over his paws. He looked straight at this wolf in the hopes that she still may not know for sure if he was blind. How would this wolf know about the 24 elements. She was just an ordinary wolf right? He started to give a small while that caressed over her until he could get a good mental picture of the wolf. She appeared just like a normal wolf but then he remembered how she had gotten out of the ditch. No normal wolf could have gotten out so easily heck even he wouldn't be able too. So this brought him to the conclusion that this was not an ordinary wolf but one of chosen wolves. "What do you know of them?" he said still not quite trusting this wolf. Maybe this wolf is worth my time he thought awaiting her answer.

Wisp narrowed her eyes at Moonsong's rejection of her help. But she understood it. Most people were independent, and was humiliated by help. It made sense. What confused her was whenever he got up and started walking away. Curiously, she followed after, a little behind. The blizzard drifting away, and grassy woods came up, a nice little area. Faintly, she heard her name, and so she bounded forward, in time to see another wolf and Moonsong tripping over a rock. "Moonsong. What happened. Who is this wolf?" she asked, her sing-song voice distorting her words into inaudible speech to the wolf, but not to Moonsong. She stepped forward, closer, and the world fell down around her. She tumbled to the ground, landing hard on soft dirt. She looked up to find herself in a ditch. This must be what had happened. Either Moonsong or the other wolf fell in, and the other came to help. She stretched out her silvery wings, but this ditch wasn't very wide. Instead, she tucked them back in, and transformed half way into a mist. She leaped up, and kicked her feet off the side of the ditch. She kicked off the opposite wall, and kicked off one more time, leaping out from the ditch and onto grass. She shook her fur a little and blinked. She heard the wolf say 24 elements, and her ears perked up. She heard about them, and she has a brief concept about it. How would a simple wolf know about the 24 elements?

Kida was relieved the wolf had finally stopped walking and she was able to turn and look at him. He stared straight at her, making her a little surprised. She'd caught his 'What if I am?' and knew right away that her suspicions of him being blind were true. Yet, he was able to look at her as if he could actually see her. She didn't sit, since she knew she'd just look shorter than him if she did, despite that he couldn't actually see her. She also felt another presence though, though she couldn't see anyone. The life energy around them felt slightly distorted, as if there was another being somewhere near by.

"What do you know of them?"

She moved her eyes around suspiciously for a moment, then set them back on the wolf in front of her. "They were created by Mother Nature her self, god of this world. Each of them given a task to protect their own domain and contribute to this world. In exchange they could live here peacefully, though they are all unaware that they aren't the only ones. It's a little sad really, but the thought of being alone isn't so bad.." She hesitated a moment, wondering if all of what she was saying sounded strange to this wolf. "Electricity, ice, fire, earth, poison, air, wisdom, blood, fear, water, light, darkness, emotion, time, death, weather, mind, life, gold, health, gravity, sound, and spirit." She named off each and every one perfectly as if she'd been doing it over and over again for years. "You sounded like you knew what I was talking about, asking me what I knew of them...You're sound, aren't you? Not just because you are blind, but you looked like you were making noises to scan the landscape in front of you. I haven't met another wolf like you before, but the life energy emitting from you, it's not of a normal wolf."

Moonsong just stared at the wolf as she spoke trying his best to keep his expression neutral. On the inside he was boiling with surprise and questions that he wouldn't let through. This wolf spoke so effortlessly about the chosen wolves and seemed to know more about them than he did. This is why he forced himself to remain unmoved because he did not want this wolf to know she knew more than him. Though he knew it ever since their first meeting he was just now able to put something into words.
He didn't like this wolf. He didn't like that she knew more than him, that she could easily take care of herself even when in danger, and especially the fact that she could figure out things about him without even asking. It certainly didn't help that she felt the need to tell him he wasn't a normal wolf. Yeah he already knew that but there was no reason that she had to make it known to the world. Moonsong knew that he would give up his enhanced abilities in a heartbeat if given the option of being a normal wolf. Most wolves took for granted the ability to see because it was something they had never been forced to live without. Finally he said the question that had been in his mind since meeting her. "Who are you?" he asked hating the curiosity his voice portrayed.

Kida studied the wolf's reaction in any way she could. His blankness made him had to read, and his sightless eyes didn't show much either, but she could tell he was taking in every word. She could feel his curiosity bubbling up, along with his stubbornness to keep that curiosity hidden from her. It was slightly irritating, but she was aware her straightforwardness could sometimes annoy others, though she never tried to hold anything back. She finally decided to sit down and her log, fluffy tail rested across the ground to the side of her as the wolf simply asked who she was. "No one in particular." She said casually, tilting her head a little. It wasn't like she was lying, she believed she was a wolf just like any other, even though she was far from that. "Just a wolf really. I'm the same as you, and you're the same as any other wolf. Of course I think I'm the one who asked that question first. Even if you aren't aware yet that there are others, you should know yourself whether you are one of the twenty four elemental wolves placed on this Earth, unless you're too stupid to realize that yourself. The wolf of sound isn't particularly the strongest of them all, but needed all the same." She was being blunt and insulting, but that was how she would always speak to others, almost like she didn't realize she was being rude herself. "My name is Kida, if that answers your question. Now, who are you exactly?"

Moonsong realized that he would probably like this wolf less and less every time she spoke. What she was saying now was contradictory to what she had just said. He went from having different life energy than normal wolves to being the same as any other wolf. Maybe she just delighted in making wolves look stupid he thought knowing that the most he'd drawn from her since realizing she was female.
Then she goes on to insult him just to wrap it up in what he would prefer to consider a compliment. Again she seemed to be drawing information from him without asking not that he would have told her if she did. It made him feel almost vulnerable which was just another emotion he had to keep himself from showing. Finally she told him her name and he just nodded to show he was listening. Wouldn't it have been much simpler if she had just come out and said that instead of disguising it in that aunslaught of words? Being the wolf of sound unnecessary sounds annoyed him of course. Almost everything in the universe had something to say so it should say it and be done. There was no need to wrap it up with another series of sounds that was useless and therefore annoying.
She had asked for his name and moonsong knew there was no point in protesting. She would just keep sending barages of useless sound until he told her. With a sigh he told her his name was moonsong and that he was indeed the wolf of sound. He listened for some kind of reaction but she was as mute as he was void of expression.
He wondered what she would do now and had no doubt she would assailing him with questions. She may want answers but Moonsong could care less if he never saw (or rather heard) this wolf again. He found himself missing his hut on the edge of the blizzard. He decided that he would go back there. It might be cold but at least it was away from Kida. "well it was nice meeting you Kida but I'll be leaving now." he said obviously lieing that it had been nice to meet her. He definitely regretted meeting her but he would be polite even if she wouldn't. The echo from his farewell was enough to give him a map of the area as he turned around to depart.

Was he going to leave already? But that wouldn't be any fun. "Wow, so you aren't curious at all? That's strange." She said, following him even though it was obvious he wanted to get away from her. "You are the wolf of sound, as I thought. But I did tell you that you aren't supposed to know that there are others. Shouldn't you be just a little excited or surprised? After living so long alone, wouldn't you want to see the others? Unless you've already met another one. You acted like you already knew of them, which isn't really something you're supposed to have knowledge of." She continued on with the conversation as casually as ever. She was curious herself how why this wolf, who introduced himself as 'Moonsong', didn't seem even the slightest bit shocked that there were others like him. He wasn't supposed to know that kind of thing. "So how many of them have you met? Are any of them around here? It would be quite interesting if they all started together together without having a reason. Maybe Mother Nature has some reason for it. Otherwise why would she waist her time gathering us together like this? I've never had any reason to meet another one, so it makes me wonder why it's happened now. Aren't you just a little curious?" She continued talking, just because she could and she really didn't have anything better to do. She was simply entertaining herself, but she couldn't ignore the hint of curiosity in the back of her mind.

It seemed that even when he walked away this wolf would assault him with questions. It was all he could do to keep walking surely as every word she spoke interrupted the sounds as they returned to him. He felt himself stumble and knew he couldn't keep walking on like this. With a sigh he started to bring his paws down harder so he could read the sounds they made instead of growling. Now he could talk as he walked even though he hated doing this. It made his map much less clear and he was blind to anything not touching the ground which usually helped him avoid running into things like branches. Almost as a testimony to his previous statement he flinched as a branch hit his ear. As well as the branch hitting his ear Kida kept sending more questions his way.
"Does this wolf ever shut up?" he muttered to himself under his breath not minding if Kida heard him. One of the best things about traveling alone was that it was silent whenever he wanted it to be. When he was in the pack he had been assaulted by the many sounds of pack 24/7 every time he let his guard down. Being with Kida was like someone was constantly howling in his ear. He hoped that she didn't talk like this often and consoled himself that she would probably stop this as soon as he stopped being interesting. Or as soon as he stopped being the wolf of sound but that wasn't going to happen. "Will you shut up," he said turning to Kida's generally direction beside him. " I can only answer one question at a time." Though he could not see his face he knew that all the anger he had gained since meeting her was portrayed. With a sigh he let his anger slip away. It wasn't fair of him to get on her for being curious he thought sightless eyes showing a small amount of sympathy. "From the beginning. No I'm not curious, more wolves are just more sounds to me. I've met only one the wolf of spirit and i don't know why she would gather us together. Mother nature works in mysterious ways," he said answering every question he had bothered to hear her ask. "and it doesn't matter if i'm curious. The question is why are you?" He didn't bother waiting for her answer and as soon as he was done continued on his way. She would probably follow him all the way back to the hut. Good he thought then she could get answers from Wisp instead of me.

Kida didn't show any reaction as Moonsong snapped at her to shut up. She just continued looking at him with amusement sparking in her eyes. Why was she so thrilled? She'd simply broken through one of the layers of his self control. It was almost too easy. She stayed quiet, listening to his answers before he continued on. She works in mysterious ways, huh? She thought to herself, waiting a moment before following him again. This time she stayed a couple of tail-lengths behind him with her jaws shut. There was no more need for her to keep talking until he stopped trying to focus on two things at once. He said he'd met just one other, the wolf of spirit. A sad wolf story indeed..one who can barely be heard and is cursed to be alone, just like the others. But they've met, so something is definitely happening. She remembered the feeling she'd felt earlier when she first encountered this wolf, as if some other being was close to them, but the image wasn't clear. That must've been her..

Then she recalled Moonsong asking why she herself was curious. She wasn't actually sure if she was curious or not, but she just wanted answers. That was practically what she lived for, to gain information and put it together to form a perfect explanation. Maybe at first Kida could come off a little cocky and rather stubborn, but she was most definitely more intelligent than she acted. Perhaps she was talking so much right now just because she finally had a reason to. She could barely remember the last time she actually used her voice other than to scare off any unwanted visitors. She couldn't even remember the last time she'd actually howled. Yeah right, that would never be the reason..

Wisp stretched her wings out and started to sing. She didn't sing often, or at least not until recently, whenever she discovered she liked singing. Especially with her voice. It sounded beautiful. She flapped her wings up and down and looked around. She noticed Moonsong walking her way with another wolf. She ran through the list of wolves in her head, finally deciding on the wolf of wisdom, as the new wolf who approached. She cocked her head and trotted over to them. "Wolf of wisdom I presume?" she asked the wolf, but also aiming it at Moonsong, to see if he knew. She folded her wings to her back and hummed to herself, smiling.

Kida's ears pricked up and she stopped in her tracks as she heard something, almost like howling but with more of a calming ring to it. Singing? Suddenly she turned her head to see another wolf coming towards them with much comfort, as if she was completely trustful of Moonsong. The wolf folded its wings back with a gentle smile which Kida wasn't used to.

"Wolf of wisdom I presume?"

She relaxed a little, her eyes narrowing slightly. She quietly sat down and relaxed her shoulders as she gazed upon the wolf. How did this wolf know who she was? "And you would be the Spirit wolf. So then I'm not the only one who knew that there were others. You seem pretty trustworthy. How do you know I'm not going to attack you? Maybe I was just letting this blind wolf lead me back to his home to kill him..You should have really keep a better guard up. But I guess I can't really kill you since you're already dead, can I? Of course it would still be easy to kill the blind one. I wonder what it sounds like to have your own flesh ripped open but you can't see it happening. I bet it's terrifying.." She was lying of course. There was no way she'd waist her time killing a wolf who couldn't even fight back. Not to mention she would gain nothing in return and she always hated trying to get blood out of her fur. She smirked at herself. "Sorry, I'm just rambling. Anyway, how is it that you have the knowledge of the other wolves?" She asked, wondering if there would be any reaction from Moonsong.

Wisp laughed a musical laugh, it echoing off the rocks and trees. She silently whispered to Moonsong a thank you for translating and continued. "No, I don't think you could kill me." She said, her voice jumping into sing-song once again. She then cocked her head and narrowed her eyes. "And I do not think you intend to harm Moonsong, or any of us for that matter. I could stop you though anyway." She tilted her head to the side. Not physically of course. No, she couldn't sink her teeth into flesh. It would do nothing, feel like nothing, other than a gentle feather. However, that nice looking tree beside them was dyeing to be smashed down upon a wolf. Rocks were always a good one for her, too. She would howl and they all would rise at once, and then she could send them hurtling toward her victim. That took a lot of energy though, so she didn't do it often. "And the reason why I know of you and the 24 elements, is because, I watched mother nature as she crafted them. She had tried to make me first, a wolf of life, but instead, tragedy happened, and I instead, turned into a wolf of spirit. I don't know how old I really am, as sometimes we count years differently, some go by shorter years, so their life appears to be long, thousands of years old. I asked mother nature once, how old I was. She said 3,333 years old. But that was thousands of years ago, and I don't know if that is a wolf year, or an actual year. I just go by that age though, because I don't know my real age. The reason other wolves don't know of the 24 elements is because Mother nature thought it would cause a disturbance in the balance of life, causing wars, or enemies, death. But I see now that the truth can't be hidden forever."

Moonsong turned his head to the sound of Wisp singing. By this point he had heard almost everything there is to hear but even so he could definitely say that Wisp's singing was his favorite. The natural sing-song tune of her voice combined to make her singing voice even more beautiful than birdsong. It always seemed to have a hypnotic effect on him and he had to shake himself to keep humming. He sat down so he could focus more intently on Wisp's singing when he heard her stop to ask a question to Kida. He didn't bother to hide a frown when Kida caught up from behind him and sat down.
"Wolf of wisdom I presume?" Wisp asked curiosity edging into her voice.
"Your the wolf of Wisdom?" Moonsong asked turning to her. He no longer bothered to hide his emotions from kida so his surprise was evident. Kida was just too observant and would figure out his emotions if she wanted anyway.
Putting two and two together Moonsong realized that it was probably true and that it explained many of the things since meeting her. No normal wolf would have been able to escape the ditch on their own and yet she had done it using a method still unknown to him. It also explained how she knew so much about the 24 elements. And it would be natural that the wolf of wisdom would be so good at drawing information. He knew that he would think of her differently from now on but she would still be that noisy, rude wolf he had first met. He tuned himself back into the conversation and to no surprise Kida was rambling again.
"How do you know I'm not going to attack you? Maybe I was just letting this blind wolf lead me back to his home to kill him..You should have really keep a better guard up. But I guess I can't really kill you since you're already dead, can I? Of course it would still be easy to kill the blind one. I wonder what it sounds like to have your own flesh ripped open but you can't see it happening. I bet it's terrifying." she rambled probably oblivious to what she was saying. "Sorry, I'm just rambling. Anyway, how is it that you have the knowledge of the other wolves?"
"Oh don't stop on my account. I was rather enjoying the description of my death." he said sarcastically his face going to it's usual apathetic stare. This was why he didn't tell people he was blind. In the eyes of other wolves blindness was quickly associated with weakness making people think that they could do whatever to him. Being blind didn't mean he wouldn't go down fighting or that he would at least put up a challenge. He hadn't survived on his own all this time begging and scavenging for food. His powers certainly played a large part of his adaptation though. For example he could hunt small prey by using sounds to scare it right into his jaws. With predators he could amplify his voice to seem much more threatening than he actually was or just deafen them as he walked away. Creatures of the forest around him had started to call him Moonsong because of his skill with sounds and the name stuck. He hadn't even had a name in his pack instead being referred to as "omega", "blind wolf" or most commonly "weakling".
Wisp's thank you brought him back from the depths of his mind. It was a silent whisper but it was more than enough to prick Moonsong's enhanced hearing.
"No, I don't think you could kill me." She said, her voice jumping into sing-song once again. She then cocked her head and narrowed her eyes. "And I do not think you intend to harm Moonsong, or any of us for that matter. I could stop you though anyway." she said and Moonsong dutifully translated. In the short time he'd known wisp he had become aware that other wolves didn't hear her as clearly as he did. He also gave her a silent thanks for sticking up for him in the place where Kida had insulted him.
"And the reason why I know of you and the 24 elements, is because, I watched mother nature as she crafted them. She had tried to make me first, a wolf of life, but instead, tragedy happened, and I instead, turned into a wolf of spirit. The reason other wolves don't know of the 24 elements is because Mother nature thought it would cause a disturbance in the balance of life, causing wars, or enemies, death. But I see now that the truth can't be hidden forever." she finished Moonsong growing more hesitant in his translation towards the end. He was new to having to translate for another wolf and he didn't feel right repeating such personal things. He certainly would never do something like that but he knew it was something Kida wanted to know so he repeated it.
He turned his blind gaze on Kida and wondered how she was taking Wisp's explantion.

Kida stayed quiet, taking in every word that Moonsong repeated. She could make out small, sing-song words from the wolf who she now knew was the Spirit wolf, but nothing all that clear. Would it be possible for her to use an energy field to translate the blurred voice of the wolf? "So then, you were supposed to be the first..but then there was an accident.." She said, trying to put things together. I wasn't aware this wolf also knew that there were others..we aren't supposed to know..I thought I was the first created.. She paused in her thoughts for a moment. If this wolf already had contact with Mother Nature and was created by her first to carry on the knowledge of the other wolves..why did she have knowledge of them well? Was I....a replacement?

"I've got no idea how old I am either. I've been alive since before I even gained this physical form...Mother Nature's the one who gave it to me. I am curious though, why is it that only you and I knew that there were others? Or well, if you were created first, why did Mother Nature also give me that knowledge?" She kept herself calm, so not to show that she really was curious to know. She silently felt the energy field surrounding them, the life of Evalion flowing past them like a golden river, but she couldn't hear anything from the other wolf but blurring sing-song. I guess a spirit doesn't really have much effect on life energy..

Wisp cocked her head, gazing into the wolf of Wisdom's eyes. A memory sparked inside her and she spoke again, slowly, remembering. She closed her eyes and thought. "Yes. I do remember you, wolf of Wisdom. You were there, when I was created. At first I thought you were a normal wolf. At that point in time, it was just us two. There were a couple others, and slowly, over the years, more were crafted." She paused, collecting her thoughts, remembering what Mother Nature had said. "Mother Nature said that she, before even thinking of the 24 elements, had granted her wisdom onto you, wolf of Wisdom, to aid her. She needed a way of protection. So she decided on making the 24 elements, you being the first one. She sent the wolves off in different directions, but kept me there with her. She said that it was for my good, to stay. She needed to make my soul pure. To this day, I don't know what that means."

She paused again, recollecting her own thoughts on what she was. "But as I gather, I feel as if there is more to me than I know, and Mother Nature was making sure that I wouldn't use this for bad. She then sent me to aid wolves, unseen, and unheard. I grew into a large wolf, and my powers developed, soon I could let the wolves hear me, see me. But sadly, they will never be able to feel me, feel the warmth of flesh, the beating of a heart. And they will never understand the words I speak."

She lowered her head sullenly, finished. She wasn't used to talking so much, because even if she did speak she wasn't understood. So often times, she didn't speak at all. It was a lonely life. But now, it was filled with wolves. She didn't know if she liked it.

Kida smirked at the wolf of Spirit, Wisp was it? She sounded so serious, as if the world was about to crumble down around them. Though, that could always be the case. Either way, Kida couldn't find herself taking any pity on this wolf, despite the sad story behind her upbringing. Or perhaps she did feel a little sorry for her, but was too busy trying not to feel sorry for herself that she didn't have time to be sympathetic to others. She glanced over at Moonsong for a moment. Judging by his tone, he didn't sound completely comfortable translating such personal input from Wisp. It wasn't like he had much of a choice, since Kida could only hear bits and pieces of what the Spirit wolf was saying.

A pure soul.. She thought to herself, trying to understand the meaning. It wasn't an easy thing, to completely purify someone. Everyone has a dark side buried deep withing, even in the calmest, most respectful wolf anyone has ever met. There was also a looming darkness. "This is an interesting turn of events, don't you think? You say Mother Nature granted her wisdom onto me, she also told me that herself. Still, as much knowledge I have and are able to gain so easily, I don't know why she is having us all meet up like this. Not once, in all the years that I've lived have I come across another wolf like myself, but suddenly the Sound wolf shows up out of no where, and now you. Mother Nature must be pretty troubled to give a reason for us to rejoin again. Do you know why?" She asked, her blue eyes moving back onto Wisp.

Moonsong kept translating Wisp's words but otherwise withdrew from the conversation. He lay himself down and stopped contributing except for the snide comment now and then. As he had just found out these wolves were centuries older than him and he feared he didn't compare intellectually with these wolves. Well duh he thought rethinking the situation. I'm a blind fourteen year old wolf hanging around the wolf of wisdom and a wolf centuries years old he thought nicely putting things into perspective. He realized he was selling himself short but besides being wolf of sound he had summed up the most important aspects.
He tried to invest himself in the conversation but Mother nature's motivation for bringing them together didn't interest him in the slightest. Also he could hardly get a word in edgewise when he had to translate for Wisp at the same time. He wondered if he could use his powers to fix how she sounded to Kida. He gave this idea a brief moment of thought but hen dismissed it. It would be rude to do it without her permission and to do so he would have to interrupt the conversation. Another time perhaps he thought before casting his hearing out to what he desired. He had located what sounded like a rabbit foraging for food. After taking a moment to understand exactly how this particular rabbit sounds he started playing with the sounds. The thump of the rabbit's feet on the ground soon became a thunderclap when they collided. The rabbit was scared out of it's mind but Moonsong found a cruel sense of amusement from this. He had done his best to make sure only he and the rabbit heard the sound not wanting anyone to be frightened unnecessarily. When the rabbit finally became boring Moonsong stopped his ruse in went in search for another animal. The rabbit hopped off fast careful of every footstep.
Moonsong kept doing this as the conversation played around him until a peculiar sound drew his attention. It sounded like the sound of electricity. Well that's out of place he thought before checking of make sure he hadn't left a ruse up by accident. No that's not it he thought struggling to come up with another option. Maybe I should just let Kida figure this out he thought before instantly dismissing the thought. No he would handle this himself. Just because he was weaker than these wolves didn't mean he had to show it. He listened as close as he could without losing track of his surroundings or his companions conversation. Now he was able to pick up the faint rise and fall of 2 sleeping wolves. Electricity, wolf he thought trying to bring it together in his head to what he knew it was. He had found the wolf of electricity he thought a small smile breaking his apathetic gaze.
Well now that he had this information what did he do with it. He could leave the wolf be but would that be in everyones best interest. Kida and Wisp had been talking that Mother Nature had been bringing the wolves together would it be so wrong if i assisted her? He didn't bother to wait for his answer and conjured up sounds that would hopefully draw them near. If this goes right I can lead them right to us. He didn't want to worry about all the things that could happen if it didn't.
