Matt is a quiet person whom seems unable to talk. This is disproved as he mumbles in his sleep, however he chooses to never say a word. He has a mild and timid way about him, often shying away from other people. When ever he needs to communicate, he often moves his hands or points to things to get his point across. He seems to be a caring person who's a bit overly affected by the emotions of the people around him, often clutching at his head in pain when people get into heated arguments near him.
He's a kind and helpful guy when he's brave enough, trying to give out a helping hand whenever he deems himself useful. He doesn't seem to mind when people boss him around, blankly doing as he is told with no resistance within reasonable limits. He also loves jokes, covering his mouth in silent laughter whenever he finds something funny. When someone is looking for something, he'll occasionally point out as if he saw it, but laughs when the person falls for this trick. Shy and timid at first, he's real gentle if not mischievous when you get to know him.
Appearance:
With short, cropped black hair and dull grey eyes, the only thing that stands out about his face is how pale it is. That and the odd marks that adorn his eyes. It's unknown as to how he got them since he doesn't talk, but they do not wash off and appear to be birthmarks. He is a tall and lean fellow, though has a rather childishly round face that makes him appear to be a teenager at best. His apparel tends to match the bland darkness of his hair and eyes. However, in every outfit he wears, there is always a decoration or design that resembles a mouth. Matt seems to have a fascination with mouths, being so particular about his own and always reading a person's lips when someone talks to him.
Inventory:
Matches - Mostly a back up if his lighter doesn't work.
Lighter - Something he carries around daily, whether or not he has smokes.
Pack of Smokes - He doesn't smoke often, only when he gets his stress headaches.
Chain Wallet - Nothing of value in a strange world, but a chain can be a useful weapon.

Gameboy w/ Charger - Something he normally carries on long train rides, to rid himself of boredom.
Background:
Matt is an only child with divorced parents who live very far from each other. He has an apartment residing in the same town as his mother in Inaba. His father had moved to Tokyo when he left. Despite the oddities of Matt's personality, he has led a fairly normal life. He likes games as much as the next guy, he works as a store clerk at the liquor store, and he's pretty well known around town for his silence. Some think it's for religious reasons while others think it's from the trauma of having a broken family, only Matt really knows.
He boarded the train in order to visit his father in Tokyo, his father having grown sick and weary with age. It was imminent that he would pass away soon, so Matt set out to bid him a farewell. Falling asleep on the train, he found himself and others arriving at some strange destination.
