Bella is undeniably a Chapman, something she hates. Her almond-shaped eyes are the same dark brown as her father, her oval-shaped face giving her away to be her mother's daughter. She's an inch taller than her mother at 5'7", her frame narrow and her figure hourglass. She has a couple of tattoos- an outline of a rose on her left shoulder, a dreamcatcher on her right, and a scatter of stars on her wrist. All easily covered, which was the only reason her mother even let her get them.
Bella's look is the result of years of teenage experimentation and rebellion, as well as a little coaching by her mother. When she's by herself or out with friends, it's a little punky, a little teasing. Her body is toned and kept in good shape by her eating and workout habits, and she isn't afraid to show it off with crop tops or tight-fitting dresses. She's also developed a talent for keeping it classy, though, constantly aware of the attention that is on her. Her hair was dyed a number of colours in her teens, but she's kept it black over the past few years, finding it's preferable for getting jobs. For work, she likes oversized blazers and jeans, usually paired with a t-shirt to keep it casual. She tends to keep her makeup somewhat neutral, although likes her eyes to be a little smokey, and is fond of a bold lip for family occasions.
Knowing her ultimate fate has changed Bella. She's become sharper, angrier, more harsh. She drinks too much, she parties too hard, she does what she can to numb the pain. She was extremely close to her brother, and seeing what happened to him has frightened her. She can't see a way out of this life, and it terrifies her. She's afraid she'll self-destruct, but that seems like a better fate than a life of pantsuits, business meetings, and decisions that affect hundreds of people. She wants to run away, go back to her life of safety, of not being afraid of what she'll become. She loves her family and doesn't want to let them down, but knows she can't do what they want. So she ties herself up in knots trying to find a way out, and then drowns her problems with whatever she can find. She's unwilling to love for more than a night, finding a release in one-night stands and hook-ups. If somebody pushed hard enough, they might just break down her walls and find the woman inside. The woman who is deeply afraid of what awaits her, who fears her own life. Who's still sharp-tongued and cold but who still loves so deeply she fears it might burn her up and tear her apart.

i'm well aware of certain things that can destroy a man like me, but with that said, give me one more.

Bella was the younger of the chapman's two children. It was believed that her older brother, Jacob, would be the heir to the company. And so, Bella was given a little more freedom growing up. While he was coached in the ways of being a good businessman, Bella baked cookies and cupcakes with her mom and sold them to passersby. She always had a huge interest in computers and how they worked, and she was teaching herself basic bits of code from a young age. Despite the divide and differences in their lives, Bella and Jake were always close. He protected her and she protected him. They knew everything about each other, telling each other secrets nobody else knew.
In their teens, Bella saw the huge strain her brother was under. Bella's good grades were effortless to her, while he always had to work a little harder. Bella got to pick the extra-curriculars she loved (drama and computing), while Jacob was expected to pick the ones that would most benefit him. He didn't have much of a choice other than to study business and finance in college, while Bella already knew she was going to study computer science. She breezed through college, seeing the inner torment tearing Jacob apart.
She was halfway through her masters in Forensic Computing when Jacob attempted to kill himself. He survived the attempt, but ran away. Bella knows where he's living and stays with him every so often. But this meant the burden of heir fell to her. She refused to go back to college and got a job with the city's crime lab, getting a promotion within six months. She did her best to ignore her coming fate- until her family informed her they'd arranged a marriage for her. The daughter of their "rival" family. Bella refused and fought and considered running away to join her brother- but with the promise of being able to keep her job as long as possible made her stay. Apparently, she'll be expected to take control of the joint companies. She hates the woman she's supposed to marry. She hates the thought of her future. She's doing her best to weasel her way out of both, but she's terrified she'll end up trapped in a life she'll hate.
