"So, what are you, exactly? Shapeshifter, cursed, what? I try not to assume too much, makes for bad mistakes."

If a wolf could frown that’s exactly the expression one could see on Darkleens's furry face. Instead she stopped the playful pretense and growled.
“Persistence isn’t taking you on the right road, old man.” ,she wanted to say it out loud but taking the form of a mammal also meant losing the human vocal cords and the ability to speak. “May your gods have mercy on you when I do decide to answer that question” she thought and turned her back on him going after Zaira.
On her way out she passed Cake and Braggart, the first making her mouth water while the latter smelled of misanthropy and expensive perfume. He made a grimace when he saw the wolf just a few inches away, clearly he wasn’t a dog lover. Darkleen saw that he was barefoot and resisted the urge to pee on his pants. At least his feet didn’t smell.
Back in the kitchen the young girl started to have her fun cooking various types of dishes and desserts. The succubus hoped that everyone would join the feast and at least tell something about themselves while at it. Maybe she would even find out what exactly this place was and how to get around it without getting lost. There was also another matter to be taken into account: will she have her place at the table or will she have to beg someone to stay on its lap? Eating like a pet at their feet seemed highly undesirable. What if they decide to take off their shoes like Braggart earlier?

In a country only known as Hellfire, a large castle, fashioned from eerie black and dark gray stones, was set upon the edge of a bluff. It was the most defensible keep in the land and was home to none other than the country’s King. A moat as well as a double outer wall made sure that no one would breach their castle and assassinate their leader and no one ever had.

Until now.

It wasn’t a rebel upstart or a power-seeking usurper that gained entry to the Keep though. No, it was a slim figure; dressed all in black from head to foot that crept noiselessly down the winding corridors that she had travelled time and time again. It was one of the King’s very own elite assassins that had come to end his life.

Why now and for what reason?

It turns out that Alisandria, the assassin, is quite lucky to be alive. She was born the daughter of General Jaivan, one of the most revered leads of the King's army. When she was a mere three years old, the General, both power-hungry and slightly mad from years of service in one of the most reviled nations in the world, decided to take out the King and assert himself as the new leader of Hellfire. The plan was discovered and the General assassinated quite easily, as was his wife, Alisandria's mother. Yet, for some reason, the assassin could not take the life of the little toddler. Instead, the assassin told the King of the deaths of the entire family, secretly raising the young girl as his own and teaching her the ways of his order. She grew into a respected, if not feared, assassin and served the King loyally until yesterday.

For it was only recently that Alisandria had learned her true history from her dying foster father. He had told her the truth for the first time in 20 years and she wasn’t angry that the King had ordered her family killed. She didn’t know them and her foster father had been everything she could have asked for in a guardian. Kind, patient, disciplinary, stern. He had led her on her path to become what she was today and she wouldn’t have it any other way.

No, she was seething because the King had found out, finally, about Alisandria’s escape from her death all of those years ago and had sent out her colleagues to finally finish the job. The King was senile and believed that Alisandria was out to finish what her father had started and the assassins came in the middle of the night. Her foster father had come to her aid and had been mortally wounded in the fight, having retired some years ago from the squad he wasn't as quick as he used to be.

So, after she had dispatched every last one of the rogues sent after her, Alisandria had held her sweet foster father’s head in her lap as he told her all of the secrets he had kept bottled up for years.

And he told her to run.

Laying a quick kiss onto her father’s forehead, Alisandria bid herself not to cry as she removed the dagger from her thigh sheath and plunged it into her foster father’s heart. There would be reinforcements and he would not want to be taken by the enemy, so she would grant him this one last boon before following his orders. She would run, she just had a few more things to do before she could leave the country.

After her foster father took his last, shuddering breath, Alisandria rose to a standing position and began packing her things. It was an easy task since she was used to travelling for her missions and within minutes she was out the door and on her way to the Castle for payback. Even though she knew all of the secret routes and the hidden passageways, she ended up in a small hidden alcove in the King's bedroom and would lay in wait for the perfect opportunity.

Her wait finally ended when she was slicing the King's throat open as he lay sleeping in his bed. Arrogant bastard. He had never thought that his plan would fail and he had suffered the consequences.

As soon as she exited the castle she made her way to the forest that was down the hill from the castle, fanned out behind the small village where she had lived her entire life. As if on cue, the sound of war hounds yowling pierced the night air, causing the young assassin’s head to raise quickly, pale eyes casting a quick glance to the Keep. The hunt was on.

Nimble feet carried her swiftly and silently through the underbrush as her mind raced, wondering where she could go. The entire country would be looking for her and she wasn’t exactly on speaking terms with any of the neighboring states either.

A half mile in, the howls of the war hounds had begun to fade, signaling that she was gaining a lead so she took the time to lean her back against a nearby tree to catch her breath. A glint of metal caught her eye and she drew her long sword from her back sheath as her body flowed into an aggressive stance.

Yet, the metal was not the blade of an enemy but the hardware on a door. In the middle of no where? Sheathing just one of the blades, she stepped forward and reached out her hand to run it along the smooth grain of the wood, looking perplexed. What magic was this?

Shrugging her shoulders, the young assassin cast a glance about to make sure that no one would follow her before yanking open the door and stepping through to the other side.

Sage stopped when he couldn't hear anyone anymore and leaned against the walk and sunk down to the floor. He slammed his head against the wall a few times. "What are you doing here you idiot" Sage said to himself. He has'nt been around so many people for a long time, so this was still new to him. Sage leaned the staff against the wall and sat there, thinking about the events of his life that made him this way, not able to trust anyone, always running from fights, and having to scavage for his own food. Now Sage was in a manor, having no idea who everyone was or where they came from.

sage looked at his injured arm and shook his head. Placing his hand onto the wound, he closed his eyes and chanted a small chant in his native tounge. An energy spike shot up high, if anyone was sensitive to sensing these kinds of things, they surely would sense this spike of energy. A black fog began to swirl around his hand and arm, causing the wound to close up and heal, but leaving a scar. That was one thing he was able to do yet, heal and leave no scar. After he was done, he removed his hand and looked at it with a soft smile. The energy spike quickly faded away, and Sage just sat there.

Huilang floated with her hands rested behind her head, just lounging in the gravity free space. What would she do today? Hui wasn't completely sure herself. She could check out the planet with all the giant shrimp creatures on it. They looked very interesting and she wanted to ask them how they managed to get so big and populate a planet that used to have such vicious predators. But, it was probably best not to dive too far into a planet's past. Sometimes it offended whoever she was asking. She snorted. Some creatures were so ridiculous.

Hui sat up, and did a couple of spins before stopping and catching sight of what she really wanted to do. Ah, yes...Earth. It was probably one of the strangest planets. It was filled with a race called humans. Oddly, none of them considered themselves the same. Every little group talked a different language and treated themselves differently, fought continuously. Most races spoke the same language where ever you go on the other planets and tended to get along much better. That's what made humans so interesting...cause they acted so different from any other species in the universe. Most "aliens" just call humans selfish, but they are so fun to study.

Yep, that was definitely what Hui was going to do today. Her horn glowed white for a moment, opening what looked like a small rip in the space in front of her. Hui took her hands, pulled the rip into a hole she could fit through and went inside. At the same time on Earth, the small rip appeared and first her hoof came through, then the other. She poked her head out of the hole and checked carefully before slipping out. Her hooves hit the ground with a soft thud. Huilang then turned to face the rip and grabbed a hold of it on each side and shoved the pieces together. Both her horn and the rip glowed, and then the rip was gone.

She glanced around, a smile appeared on her face. The planet smelled lovely. They air was so thick and she could almost taste the water vapor that floated within it. A few animals hid among the plants and watched her, too wary to approach. A squirrel poked its head out of the tree branches. "Oh! Look at that fuzzy little thing!" she thought moving closer to get a good look. The squirrel jumped and took off, frightened of the giant beast now chasing it. "Wait!" she called to it, "I just want to ask you a question!" She had guessed at the language, hoping she picked the correct one.

She soon lost sight of the squirrel, and sighed. She was never going to learn anything if everything kept running from her. Was she honestly that frightening? She glanced down at herself. She didn't look that scary. There are other creatures in this universe that are much MUCH worse. She looked up, and there it was. A door. A random wooden door. She walked over and reached out, only to poke it. It didn't move or fall over. Hui tilted her head to the side, a bit confused. Even someone like herself knew that was strange. The strange needed to be explored. She decided to see inside and opened it.

Once she stepped inside, there was a group of people. Some were already trailing off into other areas. She felt like she had just missed something. Among the group there were a mix of creatures from ones she knew to some she had never seen. Oh what a discovery! She smiled, ready to interrogate the first creature she didn't know. She went to the closest one and tapped what she thought was their shoulder. They turned around, the creature's eyes grew large and they quickly moved away. "Hmpf," Hui was a bit upset by the rudeness.

Michael's eyes followed the wolf run off torwards a woman and an smaller grayish man in a suit. For a moment, the number fifty-one ran through Michael's head, but he shook it off. Maybe, but that was an investigation for another time.

He put the dagger back in its sheath, tossing them both into the case. Looking back down at the cross, he noted that the blue-ness of it had gone down drastically. No ill intentions, maybe? He shrugged, slipping the chain off from around his neck and tossing that into the case as well. Cracking his knuckles one at a time, Michael's gaze kept to the hallway that the wolf had dissaeared down.

Picking up all of his things, he moved to the side of the lobby to better organize. Putting everything down in a row, he thought again about the dagger and nodded. He'd keep it at the ready inside a pocket in his pants, just in case anyone wanted to try anything. He slipped it into a pocket, leaving it un-buttoned for easy access. He then dug a little into the case, pulling out some fabric that was glowing in the same light as the cross, but only slightly. Taking it out, he nodded once more and put it on. A sexy bitch is you, he thought to himself. The fabric was comftorable and he was still able to grab for the dagger, so he kept it on hoping for some protection.

Picking everything back up once more, he went down the hallway that the wolf had gone down. The thing wasn't really too intent on killing him, since it had followed after the girl after no apparent commands. Plus, he smelled pastries. Nothing bad ever smelled of pastries. Burnt pastries, maybe, but not the fresh frosting that he could taste on the air. Mmmm.

Sure enough, his nose led him to the girl cooking away, making all sorts of sweets. The wolf was nearby, and Michael just looked at her with a raised eyebrow, then turned to the lady.

"Evenin', mame. Nice place." Smiling a bit, he took in a deep breath, taking in the smell of frosting. Delicious. His spirits uplifted, he looked to the wolf again, this time a bit more pleasantly.

"Okay, how about a truce until the pastries dissapear. How does that strike you? Bark three times if you understand."

After a few minutes, Sage began to smell the fresh scent of pasteries. Not sure what the smell was, he began to search for it's location. Sage began to walk back the same way that he had gone, and soon found himself outside the kitchen door. He wasn't sure what to do, should he enter or should he leave. Sage took a deep breathe and then slowly entered the kitchen, looking around at the different foods that was being made, most of which looked good.
