Breakdown: Julian is waiting for his inevitable breakdown. It hasn't happened yet, in part due to his friend's interactions with him. He has a hard time dealing with his life and usually bottles it up, which he knows will lead to him imploding one day.

Roz: Rhoswen is the only person Julian truly cares about as she's the only person who really knows him. This of course makes her the only person he worries about. He of course knows what she thinks he is and has tried to convince her otherwise, but she won't have any of it. He worries if he ever were to be incapacitated, would she be alright without him.

|Personality|
Julian nowadays is a very laid back, humorous, and nonchalant man going through the motions. He feels that the world he lives in now isn't where he's supposed to be and this gives him a sense of freedom he didn't have in his old life. A wanderer by choice, he enjoys meeting new people, although he dreads saying goodbye as more often then not, he is quickly forgotten due to being a Drifter. This however does afford him plenty of second chances with people as well as an opportunity to mess with them, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse.

Although he is confident with himself and tries to be content with the life he's been handed, he resents the seemingly random act that placed him in another world. His only solace is the possibility that he was put there for a reason and that maybe he can do some good even under these circumstances. He is also very protective of both himself, his values, and the very small list of friends he has now and is not above physical violence to protect the things he cares about, although he draws the line at using his powers towards these ends.

|History|
On a typical stormy afternoon, Johnathan Klein checked his pregnant wife into a London hospital. That same day, Mr. Klein said hello to his son Julian for the first time and sadly said goodbye to his wife for the last. At first, John resented the baby he had brought home, thinking it as some sort of burden he didn't deserve to face alone, but eventually, his anger dissipated and he became a proper father to his son.

Julian was a bit of a sad child. His father often worked to support him and during most days he was left in the care of his Aunt Eliza. She could see that Julian was missing a mother figure and so she obliged the best she could, playing with him and teaching him what was good and what was bad. This made it all a bit easier when Julian was seven and his father married Eliza. Everything seemed perfect at first as he saw his dad more often and Eliza was living with them. It all crumbled in Julian's mind however when he learned about his actual mother and how she had died giving birth to him. Racked with guilt, the child ran away. He was gone for a whole day before his parents found him in the cemetery staring at his mother's headstone. It took some convincing, but eventually he returned home, although changed greatly.

Now in his teen years, Julian began to do what a lot of teenagers do; rebel. He went out and partied with other kids his age, but even then he could tell it wasn't right. So, he buried his head in school books and aimed for a college scholarship. Over time, he straightened out his personality and finally realized who he wanted to be; someone his mother would be proud to call her son. At the age of 17, he graduated high school a year early and received a full scholarship to a NYU where he studied World History for three years. It was when he was walking towards a subway station late one night when he saw an alluring arrangement of lights. Unable to stop himself from investigating it, he was entered the portal and after what felt like seconds of seeding through nothing, he merged on the other side. He quickly realized that both he and this world were different from what he knew. At first panicking about his situation and falling into a deep depression, he became a vagrant. Eventually accepting the situation and figuring out the basics after a time, he met a disturbed woman named Rhoswen who he formed a fast friendship with.

So begins...

ImageThings were always changing around the city. Businesses opening and closing, people moving in and out of places, and buildings were rising and being demolished constantly. It was a good reminder for Julian that very little, if anything in life was constant. Everything always changed whether you wanted it to or not, so it was important to enjoy what you had while you had it. Some days, that meant the feel of a soft baseball cap on his head and others it meant the company of the only friend he had made since his arrival in this new world.

With this thought in mind and his backpack full of possessions, Julian decided to grab a bite to eat, then head over to his friend Rhoswen's place for a chat. As he walked through the crowded city streets, he noticed the time on a nearby storefront clock; 10:00 AM. Taking that into account, he figured that bagels and coffee would fit the void of his stomach nicely. So, he continued walking through the masses of people throughout the city until he saw a modest bagel place. He ducked inside and ordered three regular bagels and two small coffees. Julian knew even if the bagels didn't strike her fancy, the coffee would, as she had a bit of "thing" for anything with caffeine in it. It worried him sometimes, but he figured weening her off it slowly would be a lot easier then going cold turkey. And, even if the coffee didn't get her talking, how exactly he got the money to pay for them would most certainly make her wonder. With his treats in tow, he exited the shop and headed towards Rhoswen's apartment, whistling a happy tune while he walked.

When he arrived there after twenty minutes of walking, he opened the complex door and walked the various steps up to her floor. At this point, the process took almost no effort as he had walked these steps a thousand times before. After he hit the top of the steps, his eyes darted toward her door and his body quickly followed suit. Julian gave himself a once over and figured that he looked quite alright, all things considering. His white v-neck shirt was pristine with nary a stain to be found, his jeans followed a similar example with only a bit of a frayed edge to it's left leg, and his shoes were a simple black and white that he felt worked with everything else. With his mind now at ease, he gave the door a firm knock and waited for his friend to hopefully answer sometime soon.

When the door opened, Julian wasn't at all surprised by who he saw, but was delighted all the same. He let out a simple hey to answer his friend's hello as he entered the apartment. He was always surprised by how nice the place was. Sure, Rhowsen was a smart and capable woman, but she still was thrust into this foreign world, same as he was with nothing in terms of the material. Still, she provided for herself nicely, although not in the most healthy environment with someone with her disorder. As far as he knew, Julian was the only one who had been inside this place besides the landlord or the maintenance workers who repaired anything broken. This wasn't necessarily a bad thing however as he knew that for the most part, Roz could take care of herself and the only thing she needed was some company, which he was more then happy to provide.

It only took him a few moments to notice where her attention lied. The shattered pieces were in plain view on the kitchen floor. He felt a little guilty, figuring he startled her with his knock. However, his feeling of guilt quickly faded as a smile came across his face as he saw Rhoswen's wanting eyes as she starred at the coffee still in his hands.

"How about you take this and I'll handle the glass." he said, slowly handing her one of the Styrofoam cups and proceding towards the kitchen, placing his thing on the table and looking over the area for a broom.

"So, how are you feeling?" Julian began simply, his eyes still occupied by the search for the broom.

Rhoswenโ€™s eyes light up like that of a child on Christmas morning as sheโ€™s handed the cup, her attention shifting briefly to the man whoโ€™d bestowed her with coffee. Her smile was the embodiment of gratitude, blinding in its unbridled exhilaration. With one sip all her anxieties are forgotten, her nerves satiated by the hot, caffeinated beverage. As Julian excuses himself to the other room, Rhoswen turns so her gaze can follow. It never ceases to amaze her how tangible he appears, how anything in her reality will conform to his actions. This coffee shouldnโ€™t exist, but she can feel the heat of it in her hands. He shouldnโ€™t be able to touch the broom, but itโ€™s there when she hands it to him after she retrieves it from beside the refrigerator. โ€œIโ€™m alright,โ€ she replies, just as simply, her smile softening in the wake of concern, โ€œDid you sleep well?โ€ It was about a dozen questions in one, most sheโ€™d never bring herself to say. Julian not having a bed to call his own brought more grief than it should in light of the circumstances. Nevertheless her heart never ceased to ache whenever she thought of her friend sleeping out on the streets.

"I slept alright. I stayed at a shelter yesterday. Usually, not my thing, but it wasn't so bad." Julian stated as he brushed the pieces of the cup into the broom's dust pan. It was always an odd feeling when Rhoswen would look at him. Most times it felt like she was studying him more then anything else, but it was always accompanied by a feeling of undeniable warmth. Maybe it was because it was nice to not be in another strange place for once, but Julian knew deep down it was something else.

As he poured the dust pan's contents into the trash bin, the falling pieces reminded him of something he had just learned. "Actually, I have something to show you." he said, putting the broom back where Roz grabbed it and sitting down at the kitchen table, motioning for his friend to join him. When she did, he retrieved his bag and pulled a single light bulb from it."I got bored at the library one day and one of the lamps went out. That gave me the idea." Julian explained as he lifted the bulb to Rhoswen's eye level so she could see what happened next. The bulb seemed normal at first, but soon after, his hand began to spark with electricity. This subsided quickly however as the charge in his hand went into the bulb, setting it alight. "So, what do you think?" he asked, honestly unaware of his friend's opinion of his new trick. He hadn't shown his abilities off much since he received them, but Rhoswen was at least aware of what he could do.

Taking another sip of her coffee to conceal her frown, Rhoswen chases her guilt away with indulging in his company. Julian wasn't on the streets now, he was in her apartment. Here heโ€™ll be safe and warm and โ€” if heโ€™ll permit it โ€” fed. As Julian is reminded of something, claiming to have something to show her, Rhoswen is spurned from her momentary solace. Curiosity curried her attention, willing her to follow as he beckoned her to sit with him. She watches with vigilance, her doe eyes widening in awe as sparks crackle off his skin. At first sheโ€™s concerned heโ€™s hurt but one double take has her believing otherwise. Sheโ€™s just looked back when the light bulb suddenly shines, glowing without an outlet right before her eyes. Rhoswenโ€™s lips part in a reverent smile and, slowly, she reaches out to touch. Itโ€™s warm, giving off the same heat it would had the bulb been screwed into a lamp.

โ€œโ€œItโ€™s amazing,โ€ she says on a breath, flitting her gaze to capture his own. Rhoswen considered it nothing short of an honor to be shone what he can do, her own ability no secret to her companion. For a moment she plays with him, taking the bulb out of his hand and putting it back in just to watch to bulb turn on and off. She beseeches him for more and, when the coffee is finished, they retire to the living room where they sit side by side on the sofa and watch television. Itโ€™s no more out of the norm than his arrival and yet itโ€™s something sheโ€™ll never get accustomed to. Still, she leans into Julian, reassured by his presence now that she is no longer alone.
