Caz stands at 178 cm, and has an average, but sufficiently athletic build. Described as charmingly good-looking, Caz gives off the overall impression of a pretty boy rather than that of a popular jock, or a debonair model. His brown hair is typically lightly styled, and has developed golden-brown highlights from exposure to sunlight. He doesn't tan easily, but rather gains a smattering of light freckles across his nose the longer he stands in the sun. Caz's eyes were a bright blue at birth, but have dulled down to a more ambiguous grayish blue-green color.

Caz's style is pretty toned down and relaxed. He usually wears a t-shirt and a pair of jeans or track pants, and maybe a jacket if he needs it. While he tends towards denim or warm neutrals for most of his wardrobe, Caz has an affinity for uniquely patterned tops and white sneakers.

The first thing people will say if asked to describe Caz Venâncio is "he's a good person." Known as the top duelist of Ilvermorny for the latter five years of his schooling, it initially comes as quite a surprise to the other students that Caz belongs to Pukwudgie and not Wampus, but most will later agree that Caz chose the right house for himself. Caz was quite popular and well-liked in school, and is a notably kind person. However, Caz's popularity came to be mainly due to his reputation as a duelist; despite his good-natured demeanor, Caz was far too reserved and introverted to get popular on his own. Because of his more withdrawn nature, Caz is generally quite difficult to get to know, as he merely projects his more soft-spoken, surface-level demeanor, rather than divulging any details about himself as a person. However, Caz truly values the few close relationships he does have, and places great importance in maintaining them.

Caz is a fairly empathetic person and an extremely supportive friend; he's the kind of person who would listen to all your troubles and genuinely try to help you out, the kind of person who gets invested in sad stories, and worked up over injustices. From an initial impression, one would assume that Caz would very much be the supportive sidekick in the story of life -- never the main character. Caz is quite perceptive, and has a strong intuitive sense when it comes to judging people's characters. That is not to say he is always right, though -- far from that. Once Caz starts trusting someone, he can be more easily deceived due to his devotion and faith in said person, and can be a little blind to their imperfections. Caz is fiercely loyal to those he trusts, which can be his ultimate downfall if he chooses to open up to the wrong person. For better or worse, Caz can be quite sensitive, which is something he doesn't openly display. He is easily hurt, and lets things get to him. From there on out, Caz tends to spiral into a cycle of extreme self-doubt, and can have a hard time recovering, although he tries to put on a strong face.

As easy-going and relaxed Caz tends to be, he is not weak-minded over his beliefs. He feels strongly about doing the best thing for the people, and values the well-being and security of the general masses. Caz is said to be very idealistic, almost dangerously so; he carries no illusions about the reality of the world, but many consider him far too optimistic in his attempt to do good.

Caz is definitely a perfectionist, and can be easily disappointed and harsh on himself when he doesn't meet his lofty expectations. He is actually quite ambitious and extremely single-minded when it comes to his goals -- Caz is not the kind of person who gets easily distracted, or the kind of person who makes decisions without intense deliberation. While Caz enjoys helping people out in any way, what he really wants is to achieve something truly big and impactful. He would not be satisfied with being known as the guy who you can always go to for help. He would not be satisfied being an Auror or a Healer, where he is handed cases as they come. Caz wants to be a revolutionary; he likes to have a singular goal to work towards, where he can make a major contribution to the world -- which is why Caz is so invested in SERA.

At the end of the day, it is very clear that Caz has good intentions. He is an undoubtedly selfless person, and makes choices based on what can make the world better, instead of what benefits himself. However, Caz does not always make the right decisions. He has a strong sense of justice that can get twisted at times; it is not uncommon for Caz to make morally questionable choices because he thinks he's doing what's right, or what needs to be done. Oftentimes, Caz's personal feelings can get in the way of his pure intentions; for instance, he truly despises being weak, or being seen as weak, and has a tendency to partake in grand gestures and more questionable ventures in order to subconsciously subvert that. Ultimately, Caz's good intentions do not translate directly to commendable actions.

quirks ;
Caz has two surnames (Armando Venâncio), but goes by Caz Venâncio in everyday speech / can duel left-handed, although he's better with his right / enjoys eating and has a sweet tooth / absolutely hates being weak.
strengths ;
dueling -- was renowned as the top duelist in Ilvermorny, and went on to duel professionally for a short while / healing spells and other charms -- anything that falls under the category of "charms" is something Caz is quite proficient at / nonverbal magic -- Caz can perform many spells, including the more difficult ones, nonverbally with ease / focused and ambitious -- Caz isn't easily distracted, and puts his full energy into achieving his goals.
weaknesses ;
wandless magic -- despite his extreme proficiency at magic, Caz is essentially defenseless if he doesn't have a wand / potions / self-doubt -- while not one to typically be insecure, Caz has high expectations for himself; when he fails to achieve them, his own self-doubt is often what restricts him most / loved ones -- of course, loved ones are everyone's weaknesses. But Caz has seen people who are able to keep their head and be reasonable even when their loved ones are threatened -- Caz cannot do that.
likes ;
dueling • sunny, hot weather • brazil • doing good that will truly make a big difference and impact the world • caramel candies • traveling • food • most sweets • animals, but mostly cats • (hot) chocolate • pastries • sunsets • books • his family • flowers • being liked and appreciated.
dislikes ;
the fact that he can't bounce back easily from emotional pain • rain • being weak • failing • the deaths of others • being hated • sour candies • potions • his own sensitivities • being demeaned and put down • not being taken seriously • tea • making his parents ashamed.

Casimiro Armando Venâncio was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, to Portuguese Muggleborn Josefina Ferro Armando, and Brazilian half-blood Lucas Pinheiro Venâncio. He has an older sister named Lygia Armando Venâncio (3 years older), a younger brother named Artur Armando Venâncio (2 years younger), and a younger sister named Moema Armando Venâncio (4 years younger). His mother was an Auror, and his father worked in the foreign affairs department of the Ministry of Magic. When Caz was eight, he and his family moved to New York -- his father was transferred to MACUSA, so his mother requested a transfer as well so the entire family could stay together. Caz grew up in a close and affectionate family, and has strong bonds with them.

Before Ilvermorny, Caz and his siblings studied at Muggle institutions, although magic played a strong role in their lives. Regardless, when Caz began schooling at Ilvermorny, he was a completely clean slate, regarding his magical skill. Despite that, Caz had a considerable natural talent at charmwork, and quickly rose to be Ilvermorny's star duelist by his third year. His elder sister, Lygia, who was quite popular due to her sociable personality, was eventually overshadowed by her younger brother. Although their bond would never break, Caz's relationship with his sister began to deteriorate after that. Moema still adored Caz, though; however, Artur began to distance himself from his brother as he transitioned into his teenage years and wanted to develop his own identity, separate from his older siblings.

After Caz graduated from Ilvermorny, he was recommended to become a professional duelist, due to his immense skill. Caz quickly made a name for himself, ranking number one in the United States, and regularly competing internationally. Although Caz certainly enjoyed dueling, he thought of it as more of a hobby than something he wanted to spend his life doing. Caz was still finding himself; however, being a champion duelist was a sufficient way to spend the time.

During his dueling days, Caz was scouted by a member of SERA, and was asked to join their forces. Caz disagreed vehemently -- how could they hunt down fallen angels for their own gain? Caz considered it cruel, to force such beings to live in eternal fear of being hunted, just for the sake of power. Power could be gained in other ways, in more significant ways -- it could be practiced, and learned from within. There was no need to gain it from an external source. After hearing what Caz had to say, the SERA representative quickly obliviated him.

However, Caz would later shift radically on where he stood on that matter. When he was twenty-one, all three of Caz's siblings, along with his father, were killed in a massacre. The news wouldn't tell what really killed them, but Caz would soon learn the truth. The murderer was a fallen angel. The angel was forced out of the heavens, and subsequently went insane, abusing their powers among the humans, Muggles and wizardkind alike.

When Caz figured out who the true murderer was, he remembered. The obliviation by the SERA representative was sufficient enough, but it was sloppy. At that moment, Caz finally knew what he wanted to do for a living. He knew that he was wrong before. It was completely right to hunt down fallen angels; they were never made to live among humans, and cannot understand the capacity of their powers in the face of the helplessness of Muggles. Fallen angels could cause serious harm -- after all, they were both powerful and inherently irresponsible (which was why they fell in the first place). Caz knew that by joining SERA, he could protect the general masses from the volatile dangers the fallen angels presented, with their ignorance and their irresponsibility. It made perfect sense to him.

Now, at the age of twenty-three, Caz Venâncio -- champion duelist, former brother, devoted son -- knew he was doing something for the greater good.

"Sorry, Mãe. I've been called to go to work. I have another assignment." At his mother's distressed expression, Caz laid his hand over hers in a comforting gesture.

"I don't quite like this job of yours, Casimiro. You haven't even told me what it is! Ever since your father and your siblings passed away, you've changed. You stopped dueling for this job, and I don't even know what it is that you do. You loved dueling, Casimiro. What happened to you?"

Caz gave his mother a weak attempt at a comforting smile as he gently stroked her knuckles.
"I did love dueling, Mãe, and I still do. It's just that after they died, I realized what I wanted to do for a living. There are a lot more important and impactful things to do than professional dueling." Caz stood up, grabbing his jacket. "Do not worry for me, Mãe. I'm doing good things in this job, and I can handle myself. Eu te amo." And with a final kiss to his mother's cheek, Caz left his home and Portkeyed to SERA headquarters.

Caz wasn't sure if his mother would approve of his job, if she ever found out what he did. Josefina Ferro Armando was always a pacifist. Usually, Caz was too, but the difference between Caz and his mother was that his mother forgave easily for the sake of resolving conflict. Caz believed that he could see beyond what she could; when he recognized a threat to humanity, he took it upon himself to defend the people from said threat, and hopefully protect them from the unfortunate fates the rest of his family faced.

"Ah, Casimiro Armando Venâncio. You have arrived," a man with very typical, ordinary features met Caz as soon as he stepped into headquarters. "Come with me. Your partner awaits."

Caz silently followed the brisk walk of the SERA official, contemplating what he would be assigned to this time. He hoped it was something big; Caz always wanted to do the most he could.

As Caz followed the official into a meeting room, he was met with the sight of a man -- his partner. While the man wasn't striking like a model would be, he was rather conventionally attractive. Caz and his partner could vaguely resemble each other from a distance, but Caz could tell from the expression on his partner's face that their personalities would not be so similar.

"Alex Williams," the SERA official said, referring to Caz's partner. There was a vague sense of recognition upon hearing the other man's name. Alex Williams was definitely not the most well-known person in the organization, but Caz recognized him as a descendent of the Sykes family, a pureblood line Caz had studied very briefly.

"Caz Venâncio," Caz introduced himself cordially, offering his hand to the other man.

"There has recently been a fallen angel tracked in muggle London," the SERA official immediately jumped into the briefing. "Not much else is determined beyond that, but there is a possibility of an interaction between the fallen and a witch or wizard. It is unconfirmed, but if that possibility rings true, then it's imperative to act quickly."

If the fallen angel is teaming up with a witch or wizard, that would be absolutely disastrous, Caz thought to himself. Especially if the witch or wizard is powerful on their own. The combined power . . .

Before long Alex was snapped into reality by a quiet cough in the room. He looked up to see one of the messengers had entered his office with a small white envelope and as Alex watched him drop it onto his desk and leave in silence, he wondered if he was finally going to get a job to do. Without a moment of hesitation, he tore open the envelope to see a small note simply stating a room number, a location and time in bold. Looking at his watch he realised he should leave soon in order to get there in time and without wasting another second he walked out and headed towards the location.

Alex ended up getting there earlier than the appointed time and so decided to take a seat and wait inside. He still had no information regarding why he was getting called but he could only assume and hope that it was because of a new assignment. Before long he could hear several footsteps approaching the quiet meeting room and stood up to face the two people who walked in, one of which presumably was his new partner.

His partner, Caz Venâncio who seemed like someone who most people would get along with put out his hand after introducing himself which Alex accepted politely. As he looked over at the official who had already begun briefing them he realised how big the assignment was, and how perhaps just maybe the universe had heard his wishes.

A fallen angel? How long has it been since the last one, he wondered to himself, too long. This opportunity could not be missed and all of a sudden Alex realised how this case could in reality change a lot for him. A fallen angel was a rarity and bringing one in successfully would bring a hefty reward and privileges.

The SERA official finished his briefing by handing over a few case files to the two with the little information they did have from their sources. Alex skimmed through it quickly since there wasn't much in the report and watched as the SERA official said his goodbyes leaving the two alone in the meeting room.

"So, let's make our way to London then shall we?"
