Albion Veil

I'll make sure nothing gets in the princess' way

0 · 500 views · located in Evermor Castle

a character in “A Heart Close to Home”, as played by rockPolotics

Description

Name: Albion Veil

Age: 23

Gender: Males

Eye Color: Green-Yellow

Hair Color: Blonde

Picture: Image

Time serving: 3 years and counting

Personality: Albion is very loyal; he'll do anything the princess or other royalty ask, no questions asked. But he is also very quiet and keeps to himself when he's not on duty. He rarely messes up, but when he does, he shows his very uncharacteristic panicky and embarrassed side.

History: Before becoming the princess' personal knight, Albion was a mercenary, his specialty being assassination. He traveled all around the continent and beyond, working for the highest bidder, and completing his missions flawlessly. He continued this until one day, he got a request to kill a knight of a certain kingdom. Nothing seemed strange about it at the time, so he accepted, and killed the knight in his sleep without even looking at his face. It was only until he was getting paid did he figure out that the one he killed was his brother. He had no idea he was a knight, having cut ties with his family when he became a mercenary. The shock of killing his own family made him go into a frenzy, and he ended up killing all the buyers there. Lost and without a purpose, he decided to try and atone for his sins by becoming a knight for the same kingdom his brother used to work for. Soon enough, with his skills, he rose the ranks and eventaully became the princess' personal knight.

Other: To hide his past identity, he makes up excuses for the various scars on his body. But, he forgets about his excuses quickly, and ends up giving different excuses every time ranging from a farm accident to a highwayman attack.

So begins...

Albion remained as stoic as ever, calmly watching the lush scenery go by. Well, not so calmly anyways. Truth be told, he was quite worried. The Princess was getting very, um, "good" with her powers lately, despite her parents' wishes. He didn't want her blowing her suitor's head off the second she meets him. And even if they did meet, Albion was afraid she'd just flat out reject him, since she's always so stubborn. Albion let out an exasperated sigh at the scary thought.
Soon, the carriage finally jolted to a stop. "We're finally here, Evermor Castle." He said as he took all the bags outside.

Truely, Vivan did not want to be going to the castle by far. Why was it out of all things they had to her, they had to send her here! Man, was she going to hate every single one of the guys there. Except Albion, that is. He was stoic, but she didn't mind. He actually paid attention to her. When the carriage jolted to a stop, she looked up to Albion as he spoke. "We're finally here, Evermor Castle."Vivan sighed, grumbling a bit as she followed Albion outside as he took the bags.

"Would you like me to help Albion? My bags may be a bit too heavy.." Vivan asked, her hand gently going onto his shoulder as her voice for the moment, seemed calm.

"Please, let me. You have much more important things to think about, Princess." Albion was somewhat relieved that, at the very least, the Princess didn't seem scared or anxious. Of course, this could also mean that she had already decided she wouldn't go through with this. But, he decided there wouldn't be anything he could do about it regardless, and kept walking towards the large and imposing gate.

Although the castle was nice, it wasn't quite the nicest or the largest Albion had ever seen. Examining the gate he noticed things that piqued his interests quite a bit, not as a knight, but as an assassin. Although retired, he kept some of his instincts, and his instincts told him that, if the gate were closed, there would be very little hope of getting past it on his own. He wondered why they would need such protection; nobody would interfere with such an important event, it could start a war! But he shrugged off the thought, he wasn't a mercenary anymore, not a killer, he was simply a knight now. All he had to care about was the well-being of the princess, and he believe that that was more than enough of job.

"Please, let me. You have much more important things to think about, Princess." Vivan almost groaned at Albion, being here to find a suitor was going to be impossible. Already, just from the few people she's seen she felt like it'd be too much work. She followed behide Albion carefully as they approached the gate. As they past the large gate, Vivan couldn't help but have a chill up her spine as she suddenly let out a whimper.

"I don't like it here Albion..." Vivan whispered, catching up to him as her yellow dress with black trim ended up dragging against the floor. Vivan put a hand ot her head with a slight headace as it begin clear to her something was off. It was a normal sense now a days, though normally they were false alarms. Already, Vivan could tell this would be an intresting stay at Evermor Castle.

"I don't like it here Albion..." Albion simply rolled his eyes and said, "Well, you'll probably get used to it."

Soon they both entered the castle, flanked by an army of servants. After a synchronized, "Welcome!" one of the identically faced servants handed me our keys: B-1 and B-2. They slowly walked up the tall stairs to their rooms, which nicely happened to be right across from each other. By the time Albion finished climbing the stairs and getting to their rooms, the 1 hour to dinner bell sounded. He knew this girl would probably never even leave her room the entire time if he didn't do anything about it, so he made a suggestion. "Here, how about I'll get the rooms set up while you mingle with the other guests. Oh, and which room would you like?"

"Well, you'll probably get used to it." Vivan's checks began to puff out at Albion's response. Get used to it? Hardly. Vivan was surprised as a large group of servents all came to great her and Albion, wondering how much larger could they even get? As she followed Albion up the stairs to the rooms that were right across from each other. As she let out a sigh, she jumped a little at Albion's voice. "Here, how about I'll get the rooms set up while you mingle with the other guests. Oh, and which room would you like?" Vivan had a feeling she'd better of objecting to Albion, but couldn't. He was being so kind to her after all.

"Alright, only for you though since you've been able to put up for a brat like me.. And any room is fine, thank you." Vivan said with a small smile on her face as she looked around for a moment. There seemed to be a bit of a crowed near the room C-1. "Perhaps I'll wonder a bit before dinner... I'll see you then Albion, right?" Vivan mumbled to her knight, her hair being swept back with a gentle bursh of her hand.

"Perhaps I'll wander a bit before dinner... I'll see you then Albion, right?" Albion looked back with a relieved smile and said, "Of course, I'll see you at dinner. Oh, and your room will be B-1 then. Have fun."

After the Princess left he went to work and began unpacking all their things. He ended up finishing quite quickly, and decided to explore the castle a bit before dinner. He walked back down the stairs down into the foyer where a few more groups made there way inside. Albion decided to talk around a little too, considering one of these royals could be the Princess' suitor. There was one group that seemed quite deep into conversation, well, at least his maid was. So he silently passed them, only giving a small nod as a greeting. When he got outside he saw another group, looking slightly lost, and not nearly as troublesome, at least that's what he thought...

"Hello, would you like some help?"

When the princess said that wanted to explore Nuu felt like the weight of the world fell on his shoulders, something he was warned was to not let the princess explore alone since that would only cause problems, he was thinking how could convince the manipulative girl without falling again in one of her schemes when a blond man approached he was little older than him,

"Hello, would you like some help?"

the offered his help but Nuu didn't won his title of knight by luck, it was his own strength and one of the things that he was proud was of his skills of observation, by the way he walked leaving no opening, he could say that person was quite capable, but his movements weren't consistent with a warrior or knight, it were more secretive like a those of a spy or a assasin.
Nuu changed the expression on his face, he couldn't dismiss the idea of someone wanting to make use of this oportunity and send an assasing willing to kill the royals of different kingdoms gathered here, he stood at the side of the princess and extended his left arm to prevent the princess from moving, "I'm the Prince Katar and she is my maid Cat" introduced himself and the princess in a firm tone using the false name "Before offering help, state your name"

Kalliope watched the tableau interestedly. Her knight seemed to be holding up alright, and he did have the attitude that made it sound legitimate. Now it was up to how the other man reacted.
A servant approached her and she turned away for a minute. "Here's your keys, miss."
She smiled. "Thankee." She looked at them and smiled a little. "A-2 and A-3."
While Nuu was distracted she quickly grabbed their bags and stowed them, taking A-2 for herself. She made sure to hide the bag filled with her pranking materials somewhere no one would ever even think of looking.
And then the dinner bell rang. She looked at her outfit and smoothed it out so it looked presentable before heading there herself. She was a maid, and she was sure Nuu could handle himself.
She saw two girls along the way, both with pink hair. "Hey! Why're you two here?" Surely those two girls weren't supposed to be betrothed, they didn't look all that old to her, and they were princesses.

"Before offering help, state your name."

Albion was quite surprised at the man's caution. Could he have figured out his past profession? Well, not like it mattered anymore anyways. "Oh, I'm terribly sorry for that, I am Albion Veil, personal knight to Princess Vivan Faith of the Kingdom of Elementals." Albion glanced at his maid who just received a set of keys from a servant. "Well, it seems like you don't need my help anymore." But as the maid walked away to talk to someone else, he had a faint premonition that something was off. He had to know his royal bloodlines well, if he ever had to kill one as an assassin, but he couldn't recall a 'Prince Katari'.
"If you don't mind me asking, which kingdom did you come from?"

Nuu glanced at the Princess Kalliope while the man introduced himself as personal knight of another princess appeared and a cold sweat ran down his back when he realized she was no longer at his side, he had put too much attention to the man and now he'll have to do a major feat, find the princess and if that weren't complicated enough had to do it without raising suspicion.

"If you don't mind me asking, which kingdom did you come from?"

Hell, the questions began, well at least it was a question he could answer "I'm from the Kingdom Est, is quite far from here, if you want feel free to visit my country when this is over, our music is the best of world and we always welcome people of another countries" began to talk while remained concerned about the princess, or rather on the poor souls who could become her next target, but still added in a threatening tone, "That if they come with good intentions"

"I'm from the Kingdom Est, is quite far from here, if you want feel free to visit my country when this is over, our music is the best of world and we always welcome people of another countries."
"Ah yes, I used to travel to Est a lot when I was still just a solider, brilliant concerts." Well, that was half a lie. He did go to Est a lot, but certainly not for the music. Lots of jobs there, twas good business.

"That if they come with good intentions"
Albion winced at the sharp comment. "Ok, this guy is either some genius or really annoying." He thought to himself. He decided to change the subject. "Well, it was a very pleasant talk, but I do believe I heard the dinner bell. See you then." He then walked back inside and, instead of the dining hall, went back to his room. When he finally got inside he dug through his simple, leather suitcase and found his journal. A small hobby of his was to keep track of Royal bloodlines, and he kept doing it even after his mercenary work ended. After some flipping through the pages he finally made it to the Est family tree. There was no "Prince Katari" anywhere. Only a Princess and her older brother. In the end, though, Albion lost interest and shrugged it off, and headed off to find the Princess. "Katari must be a nickname, I guess."

Nuu sighed of relief when the man left, the princess was right it was easier to be a servant, at least in this type of situation the conversation would have been more enjoyable if he didn't have to pretend, but at least the man left without suspecting anything, or at least so it seemed to the knight.

Now the problem is the whereabouts of the princess, "Have you seen my maid? she has long white hair" Asked to a servant who was nearby, "Yes, your Highness, the young lady left as soon as she received the keys to your rooms, no doubt to accommodate your belongings prince" then bowed and after tell him where was his room she retired.

He opened the door of the room A-2 and saw the Princess's bags so assumed that the A-3 would be his, he lay in bed with his eyes closed for a moment, wasn't the most comfortable situation he had to behave properly to avoid suspicion, but he didn't like it much, besides the princess was who knows where doing who knows what, he got up when he recalled that it was time for dinner with some luck the princess would head to the dinner room, but this thought don't made him happy, dinner would be the hardest without a doubt every royal on the castle would be present and also his manners leave much to be desired. "Come what may have to come" he said and left the room toward the place where the dinner would be served.

Vivan sighed as she wondered through out the castle, noticing a few people here and then but never going over to say hi. She didn't want to be social at the moment due to being actually... 'nervous' in the castle. It wasn't easy for her to be in a new place without one of her parents by far.

"Geez... Were am I..." Vivan whispered to herself, slightly lost at the moment as she looked around. "Just keep going until you see the dinning room Vivan.." She mumbled to herself, walking around once more before a maid had to point her into the correct way to the dinning room. Just as she noticed herself getting closer to the room, she relized just as slowly that she had bumped into one of the princes, or at least, he looked like a prince anyway.

"Oh... Sorry!" Vivan paniced, quickly backing up a few steps. "I should watch were I'm going... Again, I'm really sorry.." Vivan apolizgized once more, her voice getting quieter out of embarassement. 'I swear Albion, I'm never letting you leave me alone in this damned castle again...' Vivan thought bitterly, her face getting redder as she felt ashamed for being such an airhead.

Tsukiko just stared ahead. "I am not angry. I have no appetite either. I am just here to observe and nothing else. Now...as a suggestion why don't you go ahead and mingle? I'm sure you'll find a suitable wife to make you father proud." She said in a flat tone, no edge at all just instructions. Her eyes quickly followed Tallulah as she left...she felt a rush of guilt at the atmosphere she created. But another person drew her attention....a knight by the looks of it, but the scars he had raised her hunter suspicion. She needed to have someone to talk too about noticing nothing normal in this castle...and what better way then to ask a trained "knight". Slowly she rose from her seat and walked to the knight. "I can help but notice the scars you have...may I ask why?" Tsukiko decided to see first if he was a "normal" knight, lie detecting was a specialty for her as well.

Albion was in a slight daze. Partly just from being tired, and the other from not having anything to do. He always kept himself busy before, but since the Princess was on her own, and there was no real danger anywhere there, all he could do was twiddle his thumbs.
That is, until another maid came up to him to talk. Well it was hardly a talk, more like an interrogation really. Right off the bat she asked about his scars, the one question that Albion can never get right. When he finally turned to look at her, something strange happened. Normally Albion would panic and try to think of an excuse, he might have even ran away or tried to change the subject. But, there was something about this particular maid. Albion felt, well, he couldn't explain how he felt. She was striking yet alluring, an enigma yet plain as day. Her sharp eyes and will told a story of hardship but her soft voice and etiquette told one of great fortitude and strength. Albion was so awestruck that he ended up staring for a few seconds until managing to stop himself. In all that confusion, he couldn't help but make a small mistake. "I, um, was a kind of solider you know. Battle wounds and all..."

Tsukiko raised calculating eyebrows. "I never knew you could be "kind" of a soldier....besides how does an armored knight get scars? Armor should prevent that...." A cold smile formed on her lips. "Well thank you for answering....my I ask your name Sir Knight?" She could tell something was being hidden, but let it pass. "My name is Tsukiko Hoshimura..." Then at that moment all she could think was 'He is assassin'. Assassins of course would be sent disrupt the planned relations between the kingdoms for peace and lead to more warring as before. She remembered clearly when the vampires eradicated her kingdom and people.... Tsukiko's amber eyes quickly narrowed as she waited for the knight to answer his name and her question.

Albion blinked. When he came to the realization of the huge mistake he had made, he really started to panic. What if they were to find out that he used to be an assassin? He could imagine the possible misconceptions, all with gruesome endings. Everything started to crumble around him. What would he do if it gets out? Where would he go? What about the princess? His heart was racing fast, he couldn't think straight, his vision started to blur. "I... I..." He struggled to get any words out, but what would he say? Deny the truth? He couldn't do that. She was already too suspicious. "I- Um..." But what else could he do? She was waiting for an answer, one that he could not give. [i]"Apeak Albion! Speak dammit! Just say something! Anything!"[i] His thoughts kept screaming until suddenly, he spoke. His subconscious had taken over, and very simply spoke the first thing that came to mind, more or less... "Will..." He got down onto one knee, "Will you become my bride?" Things can only go downhill from here...

"I wonder what were actually going to have for dinner, don't you?"

He smiled trying to hide his nervousness, although it was his idea this was the first time he walked so close to a lady, what is even more she was a princess, for some reason he can't picture Princess Kalliope as a princess, Nuu answered to her question so as they approached to the dinner room.
"I am eager to find out," in fact he was, though the false prince hoped for the dinner to be more "commoner" or at least something easy to eat, on one occasion he witnessed the dishes that ate the royal family and he didn't even understood the name much less what kind of food it were. Although considering that he usually ate a big chunk of meat or fish no wonder he didn't know anything about more "refined dishes".

When they entered the great room where dinner is served first thing he did was cross it with his eyes and sigh relieved to see the Princess Kalliope accompanied by two identical girls, also saw the Princess Vivan Knight together with a girl who had a similar aura to him, whatever it was she wasn't a maid, birds of a feather flock together he thought and then said "Look princess, our servants have new friends, the one with white hair which is next to the two girls is my maid" and then recalling a personality trait of the princess added "I recommend you don't meet her, she isn't very friendly with strangers", then keep silence as he waited to see if the princess of the elementals wanted to sit with her knight or with him.

Tsukiko watched the knight stutter with blank eyes....she was right he had something to hide. Before she could ask another question however.....
"Will..." He got down onto one knee, "Will you become my bride?"
-insert scene with stick figures and a tumbleweed blow by-
At that the color drained out of her face, a rosy blush appearing. "D-did you just..." It was now her turn for shock and no response came for this situation. What was happening?! First a peck on the cheek and now a marrige proposal?! In the same day too!! Tsukiko sank to her knees in front of the knight. She had lost all suspicions for now as she focused on staying calm. "Did you just ask me to marry you....?!" She managed choke out in a strained calm, as she pointed a shaking finger at him.
