Personality

Personality: Vai is a hard man to figure out when you're a stranger to him, but he's still a kind one none the less. While he usually stays quiet and doesn't get involved in conversation that does not start target him, when he feels something needs to be said he will stand up and say it. He's very blunt, and while he does not intend to offend people, he almost never lies about what's truly on his mind and what he's thinking. More than once it has lost him the chance for a girlfriend and he sometimes wishes he could be more tactful when speaking with women. Otherwise he's very shy and awkward around beautiful women, and will almost always avoid eye contact for fear of blushing and embarrassing himself.

Strengths: He's very dependable, reliable and honest. He specializes in combat with a dagger, and when he engages the Eni-Knight suit he can use the energy to form daggers in both hands to double his effectiveness in combat.

Weaknesses: Coming from such a background as to use short weapons, anyone with a long range weapon will have an advantage over him in combat since he has to get in close to do damage. He's easily embarrassed and somewhat naive, so it is easy to trick him or manipulate him if you learn how.

Equipment

Equipment: Eni-Knight

History

Biography:

He was born and raised in a small home to an Artomidian Mother and a Stratian father. His family was happy together despite the growing hostilities between the two races, but once his father was summoned back to the Stratian Colony to which he worked everything fell apart.

Vai's father was nearly killed in the accident with the Atmospheric processors, but survived with crippling injuries. Returning to his family in a wheel chair, paralyzed from the waist down, the family was torn apart by the renewed anger and hatred around them as Vai's mother could no longer handle the stress of being married to a Stratian man. She soon divorced him and left the family, taking Vai's youngest sister with her.

Vai's younger brother and elder sister remained behind with him and his father, and they have tried to piece their life back together while keeping their father out of sight from other Artomidians, lest he be targeted and either beaten or killed.

Afraid that he wasn't yet strong enough to protect his family, he joined the Artomidian military in hopes that becoming an officer would help. Shortly after his enlistment he began to burn through the ranks as his natural talent for combat and his determination and drive won the respect of his superiors. He received the honor of donning Eni-Knight Armor not but a short time ago, and has already adapted quite well to the environment it offers.

Today, he trains in his spare time in hopes that becoming yet stronger will help him to protect his family and perhaps reestablish the broken relationship he has with his mother. Also, he hopes and prays every day that he will be able to see his youngest sister again someday.

Suit Initial Appearance:

Image

The Eni-Knight suit is very typical in its initial design and does nothing to establish that it is any different than any other suit. However, the one difference it does offer is a slight modification to its Neural Tap. The Tap is designed to enhance Vai's mental concentration, allowing him to stay in the suit for extended periods of time. The one problem it offers is that it is somewhat unstable, and Vai has been warned that if his aggression begins to rise that he should seek psychiatric help immediately to prevent him from losing himself to the suit.

Suit Complete:
Image

(There are no antennae or whatever those two protrusions are at the head piece)

Because of his calm and somewhat naive personality, most would not guess that his suit could change so drastically. However, Vai is inwardly tormented because of what happened with his family and has a fiery temper burning under the surface of his otherwise calm demeanor. His suit reflects this hidden nature as it begins to evolve, and eventually when it comes to its full potential, it will sport something of a fiery ponytail in the back of the head and the daggers go from being blueish to bright orange-red in coloration. Also, the visor in front of his eyes turns a dark red and glows ominously at all times.

This visually aggressive and threatening appearance is likely to cause something of a disturbance among those who see it, and it is also likely that Vai's higher ups will not like the change very much when they see it for themselves.

So begins...

Vai was wandering the halls outside when he heard the commotion behind closed doors. According to what he was hearing from others he had passed by earlier there was some new blood undergoing the Eni-Knight process, but he was not currently interested in knowing who they were. He had heard a few concerned voices inside, likely from one or more of the applicants reaching critical state or worse, so whatever was going on in there wasn't exactly a picture perfect situation.

Vai himself had gone through the process already and as such had free access to most of ANGEL. Choosing to spend most of his time either wandering the halls or sleeping, he didn't have much contact with his fellow Eni-Knight officers or superiors. While he didn't exactly see that as a good thing, since getting to know ones comrades was a pretty big deal and could mean the difference between life and death on the battlefield, it was not immediately a concern. He would have plenty of time to get to know his fellow officers later, so for the time being he simply leaned against the wall outside the door and waited for someone to come out and let him know what had happened.

As for Vai himself, he he had yet to be deployed to real combat with his Eni-Knight armor, but deep down he was looking forward to the experience. The chance to see what the suit had to offer in terms of combat potential and capabilities was exciting, and he had to wonder how his training would affect his performance once the suit was on. The thought of the suit creating energy for weapons and being able to enhance his natural abilities was both frightening and intriguing. Whomever had created the Eni-Knight was a genius in his book, though in Vai's mind the sanity of the one in question was up for grabs given the suit's potential to be both a blessing and a curse.

How many in there right now? He thought to himself as he leaned back against the wall and let his head tilt to the side.

=It was like a smog machine was turned on as the elevator door opened up and Corpse made his presence be known. Smoke began to fill the air around the production team while Corpse made his presence be known and reported the status of Cyrus' condition and his take on the remaining two subjects. It didnt take long before Dr. Hugo Splietzer began to hunch over hacking from the smoke saturated air. With itchy watery eyes narrowing Dr. Splietzer reaches for his decontamination canister, only to come to the realization that he was gripping air. He stands up to resume his poise stature as best as possible, shaking hands pushing the glasses back to rest at the tip of his nose.
It would seem I have left a vital piece of equipment downstairs, I shall be back momentarily, *cough* *cough* Dr. Yule, you are in charge until I get back, report any irregularities *cough* *cough* to me right away *cough*.

=His assistant Dr. Yule complies with him=
Yes, doctor

=With a swing of his lab coats tail, ironically unbeknownst to the doctor flicks the spit left by Laymin back at her, falling on her shoe. Dr. Splietzer quickly goes to the nearest sink and removes his latex gloves and scrubs his hands before reapplying two more sets, coughing chronicly as he does so and begins to push the elevator down button not one but several quick times as if his life depended on it. The opening of the door was a sight for sore eyes for him as he quickly entered it and stood with a prim posture, coughing one last time before the elevator door closes.=

=Captain Stones eyes shifted from his two newest soldiers going through this tormenting ordeal to that of yet another of his more seasoned subordinates Chief Marlo "Corpse," Revkel. Naturally like most people who encountered Corpse, the professional relationship between Captain Stone and Chief Revkel was a bit of a bitter one. Many times over Captain Stone would have loved to rip into this man for his defiant behavior, however his hands had become tied from doing so as medical staff with skills at Corpse's caliber has been extremely sparse and General Star has ordered her Deputy Commander to pick his battles with Revkel and to overlook some reprimandable behavior that Captain Stone would normally hang any other person up by their toes for.
Bothered by Dr. Splietzers leave caused by Corpses insistant habit, Captain Stone does not punish the man however does speak idoly in a synical tone to him as he pulls out what looks like a pager and begins punching in a few buttons with his thumb.=
You are certainly setting a good example for your subordinate Soldier Shyvell, over there Chief Master Sergeant.

=Meanwhile the extremely weakened and barely concious Aerionelle and Vage are nearing the end of this painful process. Their armors are practically complete leaving only the tiniest touches left to be completed that would not be able to be seen by the naked eye, mostly around the crystal embedded in the chestplate of their armor that houses it when not in use. Flickers of tiny lightening bolts of electricity dance over the top of them still while they attempt to recoup from the inflicted pain. At this point from the perspective of the observation room anyone looking upon them would not be able to distinguish the two apart, as both their armors look perfectly identical, the only thing to tell whos who was by their posture. Despite the torture she has undergone Aerionelle managed to stand on her feet the entire time while Vage was on his hands and knees looking down at the floor, his newly cybernetic wing system twitching around like the wings of a wounded bird.
Both the two can hear themselves breathing heavy however never before has their ears heard them breathing the way they are now, the sounds of an almost digitally echoing distortion is heard being associated with their panting=

=At this same time Vai hears a device in his pocket going off, a pager assigned to every eniknight along with the crystal that houses their armor. Upon glancing at the pager Vai would read a message from Captain Stone. Report to the eniknight lab's observation room, thats an order. -Capt. Stone

Vai was leaning against the wall outside when a small device at his hip suddenly began to vibrate. He was startled for a second but reached down and picked it up, pushing a small button and hearing a message to come to the observation room. He raised an eyebrow at the message but never the less, since it was an order, he decided to obey it.

He opened the door and walked inside, avoiding contact with anyone who he wasn't meant to speak to and walked up to the observation room and waited by the door. He wanted to stay out of the way as much as possible, but if someone were to approach him with further orders as opposed to just coming to the observation room, he'd obey.

He looked around for a second and then let out a sigh through his nose as he waited for something further to happen.

(A little ambiance for ya :) ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MOQnIh_ ... re=related

=Vages eyes open again and is if he has died and been reborn into a new body he begins to see the same world but from a different set of eyes. To the edges of his peripheral vision he sees a bluish white code dancing down his view. He looks at his hands, fingers of which he moves around and finds they are completely covered in wires and plating.
(> I'm.... I'm.. alive?
=he thinks to himself currently unaware that his thought processes are being broadcast both through a communications link between eniknights and out loud within hearing range.=

=Vage would then hear the digitally distorted voice of Lt Remil following his observation=
(> "Heh.... heh.... So.... this is... an Eniknight... is it?"

(> who said that?
=Vage again thinks while his thoughts are projected out loud. As soon as he said that he tried to distinguish the voice and an amazing observation caught him off guard, the neural tap recognized his curiosity as a command and an audio wave with a loading bar going across it appears floating in Vage's view, before a small window pops up showing a portrait of Lt. Remil, with all the main stats of Aerionelle scrolling down underneath her portrait.
=Vage wanted to remove the picture and stats out of his view and pondered how he would remove it from view, It was then that the picture and stats vanished upon his mental request to have it removed, did Vage realize he is controlling these things with his eyes. =
(> Very cool... lets see what else I can try...

=Vage looked up at the observation room and can somewhat make out the figures in the room. He squinted in an attempt to see more clearer when a large window popped up in his field of vision magnifying his view of the occupants in the room 5 or 6 times and then refocusing for a crystal clear view, like that of a digital camera. He sees Chief Master Sergeant Revkel, as if he were directly in front of him. Not knowing who he is he questioned who the man was, and again a portrait of Corpse pops up with documented information scrolling below it. Again Vage closed the window. His glance then goes down to the bottom right of his normal field of view, seeing the word health with an ever changing number, both in red which quickly change to orange. Upon closer observation he sees the number as a percentage that is increasing, and soon turning to green.=
(> Could this be accurate? I am beginning to feel a lot better...

=Vage continues to watch the percentage climb: 83% ..87% ...90%... 92%.. =

{Aerionelle HP 35/35} {Vage HP 35/35}

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
=Meanwhile back in the observation room Captain Stone, along with Corpse, Shyvell, and the scientist stand watching on and socialize though briefly with one another while the smoke enriched air begins to thin out. =
hmph... well perhaps you are on to something there Corpse..
=he says recognizing the medic had a good point referring to Laymin's potential=

=Soon after, the three Legionares hear the elevator ding, and the doors open as Vai makes his entrance. Captain Stone watches as Vai stays quiet by the door. A moment of silence falls over before the scientist are heard in the background confirming the processing being complete and follow it with cheers and applause. With the silence broken, Captain Stone walks over to Vai before greeting him with a question=
Did you bring your enicrystal?
=referring to the crystal that stores each of their eniknights in their photonic state=
=Before he lets Vai answer he turns around and faces the other two enikngihts=
Do you all have your enicrystals on hand for that matter?

The discussion of a promotion, even offhandedly like this was enough to bring the smallest flash of excitement to Laymin's face. Perhaps at last, her talents were going to be recognized and noticed! Well, maybe she was jumping the gun a little bit, but it certainly was a promising concept. She'd have to thank Marlo for the unintentional recommendation later. Smugly smirking as she scratched her nose a little, she proudly basked in the ‘glory’ of the moment, jokingly believing that the cheers the scientist gave were for her and not the newest surviving members of the Eniknight program. With her ego satisfactorily inflated, she almost missed Vai’s entry, quickly entering a salute as Stone called him over. Normally she’d greet with a title, but she wasn’t quite sure of much regarding the lieutenant. Everyone called him Vai, so whether that was his first, last, or nickname, she wasn’t sure. Hopefully it wouldn’t come up any time soon.

“Do you all have your enicrystals on hand for that matter?”

Laymin nodded, “Of course, sir.” Before unbuckling her right pant pocket and pulling out the gem. She was told to guard it with her life, and to keep it on her at all times, so naturally she hadn’t forgotten something so important. Perhaps less respectfully, she began tossing it in her hand, having it spin once before catching it with ease, repeating the motion. She was a little impatient, and her eagerness was manifesting in the way she continued to toy with the crystal, juggling it with the one hand. It looked like it’d finally be time to see what she could do - and if a good display here was all it'd take for a promotion, she wasn't going to let this opportunity slip by her.

Corpse simply nodded when Commander Stone brought up the fact that he was onto something. Damn right he was onto something. Shyv had been in the army almost as long as he had, and she was still a Grunt. Either somebody really hated the lady, or she was screwing up hardcore in every aspect. And the last time he was a grunt with the rest of them, he sure as hell didn't see her screwing up enough to keep her a basic soldier while he simply climbed the ranks with ease. Corpse heard the elevator give that ungodly annoying sound of a 'ding' and it slowly opened to reveal Vai, the shifty, shady character that spoke almost less than he did. Marlo never understood what was with Vai, but the guy could fight, so that was all he really cared about - the past was just the pieces of shit that happened before the present. He turned back to the glass, his left leg starting to pain him slightly as he did so. Another part of the past that he really hated was his stupid left leg, and it was all because his eniknight screwed up and malfunctioned, causing tendons and ligaments in his left leg to be tore. He was so pissed off that he nearly operated on himself, refusing to let anyone touch him until they put him under.

Before the Commander spoke again, out of the corner of his eye he could see Shyv bursting with excitement, to which he only gave a small grunt, instead of a smile or such. It was a happy grunt though - However, Marlo wasn't sure if that was even possible.

Did you bring your enicrystal? Marlo's brow furrowed slightly as the question was diverted towards Vai. Guessing at what Stone meant, Corpse opened his medical bag while the Commander asked if they had all brought theirs, to which Corpse simply nodded and produced the crystal the man spoke of - the little things were easy to lose and carried a shit-ton of equipment inside of them, not to mention cost a fortune. Corpse had a hunch that he would probably be suiting up soon to go teach the youngbloods how to run their eniknights. This was oxymoronic for him, for on one hand he was somewhat excited (same reason as earlier, teaching them that the pain wasn't over yet) but on the other hand, he didn't really want to deal with 2 soldiers that hadn't a clue what they were doing. It was like teaching children, which made Marlo shiver internally at the thought.

Even if Aerionelle was his commanding officer, Corpse didn't plan on giving her any any respect or mercy until she could earn it. Regardless of her reputation.

Vai gave a small and almost inaudible sigh as he walked towards the area where he was meant to stand for the start of the sparring match. He placed his hand over the enicrystal and his eniknight armor slowly appeared. It was still very similar to the standard armor appearance with the slight difference of a triangular visor and a slighter shade of grey coloration. He had not had his armor long enough for it to begin taking its own form according to him and his personality, but none the less it was identifiable at a short distance.

Once the armor was in place he took a deep breath and let it out on a sigh, flicking the side of his helmet.

"This is 1st Lieutenant Vai, are my comms working alright?" He asked.

Blah blah blah blah. The speech was really nothing more than a formality, so Shyv didn’t give it too much attention. That was probably evident in her disinterested body language, folding her arms and resting her head in one hand. Honestly, did he take them for children or something? It wasn’t like they’d be stupid enough to blow someone’s head off. Nah, she’d be quite happy to rough them up, and earn her new place on the team. Sure, the fight was a little handicapped, but Laymin was itching to get into the combat. She’d worked with Marlo before, so she knew he was reliable – But as for the Vai guy, she wasn’t too sure what to expect. Come to think of it, who was going to be in charge of their tactics? She knew it certainly wasn’t going to be her, but someone was going to have to direct their attacks.

Thoughts of the battle to come were interrupted as Vage made an embarrassing public display, the spectacle causing Laymin to snort in laughter and lose her stance slightly. If this comedian was going to be their opponent, the battle was probably going to be a snap - then again, Aerionelle looked pretty serious, so perhaps it was a bit early to be placing bets. As the Doc went over the logistics of the Eniknight use, Laymin drew out her own crystal, tossing it into the air and catching it once more as it flashed, sheathing her in the standard grey suit she’d come to recognize. Flexing her hand a bit, she tested everything was in order, before receiving the comm. link from one of her partners. “Reading you loud and clear, Vai.” Shyvell responded, doing some warm up punches to prepare.

“Corpse, you set too?” She asked eagerly, ready to get the whole thing underway. Satisfied with the performance, she turned to the other two. “’Cuz I’m thinking we need a game-plan. It’d be embarrassing to lose to these rookies.” Cracking her knuckles, she waited a moment to see if either of them would take point of command.

Corpse didn't listen to the speech by Stone or the Doctor much, he already knew the rules. Beat each other up, but no maiming. It was really that simple, and Corpse wasn't sure why they had to go over everything like he or the other 2 didn't know anything. Corpse understood that the information might be useful to the two young-bloods over there, but if their coms had been blacked out to the opposing team, then why not just tell the ones that needed to hear? Corpse gave a sigh of annoyance, wishing he could grab a smoke right now. However, smoking inside his eniknight wasn't always the best thing to do - smoked up the little space that he had so he couldn't see a damned thing. So he didn't grab one out of his bag, instead just flicked his lighter

He watched as the new kid Vage put on what most people would call a humorous display by diactivating his eniknight without realizing that he wasn't wearing clothes. Corpse watched, highly unamused by the kid's display as he requiped. That kid... He is supposed to be an elite soldier. Please, he is shaking in his boots. Corpse knew that if they seriously wanted that kid to become an eniknight, he either was acting like a complete dumb-ass at the moment, or Dr. Splietzer was on drugs, along with Stone and the rest of the senators. He looked over to the other one, 2nd Lt. Aerionelle Remil. She had a much more focused look on her as she appeared to be discussing with the loser-kid on how to deal with three seasoned warriors. While she was technically his superior, Corpse had no doubt that she was completely out of her league in this case: She was a pilot, best in the boundless sky - and there was none of that right now.

Corpse grabbed his eniknight crystal and let it glow in his hands before creating his eniknight monstrosity, also known as the Undead Guardian. It added to Marlo's overall height immensely, and was probably the only time he felt somewhat tall. He cracked his neck as everything tweaked and settled in around him, and then the electronic crap in front of his face started flashing and all those wonderful things that came with technology. Once everything was in order - his wings were there, the red paint wasn't chipped from previous excursions, his shield was fine - Shyv popped up on his screen thing.

Corpse, you set too? Corpse simply nodded as she was doing warm up punches in her suit. He never could understand why people would warm up when inside the pieces of metal, since the eniknight would do all that crap for you in combat - all you really needed was the endurance and the skills. Letting her do her own thing, she spoke once more ’Cuz I’m thinking we need a game-plan. It’d be embarrassing to lose to these rookies. Marlo gave a huff of disapproval "If we lose to these two, I should retire. That Vage kid is pathetic, and Aerionelle is a sky pilot, not a ground pounder." He stated simply, before his little pause, and then he continued. "I'll give support - this is supposed to be as realistic as we can make it." He sounded slightly bitter with that last statement, still resenting the fact that he was a medic. Since he also was below Vai on the standings, he assumed that Vai would be calling the shots.

Vai rolled his shoulders and neck to get everything loosened up. He'd been cooped up in the base for some time now and was eager to stretch out his body and get ready for what was about to transpire. Even though it was just training to help break in some newbies, he felt excited about getting to use his eniknight armor again. It hadn't yet begun to change forms for him, but it was still his and that was what counted.

He jumped a few times to make sure that the joints were all loose and flexible and did a few practice exercises for punches and kicks to get ready. He preferred to do close combat fighting and use energy daggers so it would be interesting to see how the newbies reacted to his fighting style. Typically energy guns were the way to go with most who were new to the suits, but Vai was a little more old fashioned than that so he wondered if they'd expect it at all.

This is Vai, everything is good on my end. Just waiting for the order to move. He said.

((Gotta join in on the craze - Battle Music!))

The sudden blare of the siren caught Shyv a little off guard as she faltered a moment, flatfooted as the battle quickly begun. Aerionelle was the first off, quickly boosting up and shooting across the battlefield, beelining straight for Corpse. Swearing as the lithe fighter rocketed past her, Laymin barely had time to train her gun at the silver-blue blur before it retreated from Marlo, jumping back and into the air and almost causing Shyv a nasty friendly fire incident. Damn it, this girl was making them seem like the rookies here! Having been standing still for the entire time, Laymin looked up in time to see the barrage of fire from the ‘Flower’ of the skies. Forget something dainty like a flower, this girl was a devil in the air! Diving aside to gain some cover for herself as the floor was blanketed with explosive pellets, Laymin glanced up to Aerionelle, watching her jettison upwards and over the battlefield.

Losing sight of Vai amongst the flood of dust, it quickly became apparent that their opposition was dictating the terms of engagement, twisting the battlefield to suit their own strategy. It was impressive, but frustrating as no doubt Remil would be keeping tabs on their positioning from her superior vantage point. It suddenly dawned on Laymin that she wasn’t receiving any particular orders or anything in this combat. She’d have to use her own initiative. If the opposing team had any sense, they planned to pick them off one by one and focus them down, evening up the numbers until they were all eliminated. By that logic, chances were they planned on taking down Corpse ASAP and make this a 2v2 before the battle had even really begun. She wasn’t about to let that happen, but if Laymin tried to close the gap to her ally, she’d be a sitting duck for another aerial assault from the Lieutenant. From her position in the sky, she could see everywhere. Except…

Charging up the thrusters, Laymin burst into the cloud of dust torn up in the attack, using her opposition’s diversion for cover, aiming to close in the location she’d last spotted Corpse at. Even if Aerionelle knew where she was, it’d take a fair bit of luck to hit her in this mess. Closing in on the boundary of the dust sphere, Shyv went into a combat roll, tumbling out from the dusty cloud as she quickly surveyed her surroundings, catching sight of Vage’s flubbed attack as Corpse closed in for his own assault. This was perfect! Her angle through the cloud had unintentionally pulled her into the perfect position to flank Leer and pull off a counterattack! Pushing off the ground once more, she caught sight of Corpse staggering slightly, halting his assault. Was there a malfunction with his suit? Distracted momentarily, it took Marlo’s voice over the intercom to bring her focus back where it was needed.

"You're up"

Taking that as her cue, Laymin shot off, bolting at full speed as she zipped along the ground. It was remarkable how efficient the suits were, and Laymin’s initial surprise at Aeri’s speed was replaced with awe for her own suit for allowing her to emulate that motion. Closing in directly behind Vage, it seemed that he was distracted by his own failed attempt at Corpse, having lost track of her in the confusion of the lieutenants attack as he backed right into her. With him blindsided as he was, she decided just to be a bit cheeky. No way could she miss this opportunity…

Tanman rolls 1d35 and gets 22(22). Hit. Damage Dealt: 5

Boo. Grabbing onto Vage’s shoulders, Laymin whispered into his ear before savagely using the boosters in her leg to ram her knee square into the back of his spine, jerking the boy’s shoulders back simultaneously in a brutal manoeuvre. If it wasn’t for the heavy armouring of the Eniknight’s, Vage would probably have ended up with a broken back, or at least a fracture. Adjusting her weight to push off his shoulders, she kicked him forward while leaping back up into the air in an attempt to avoid any cover fire the Lieutenant intended to give. Having sent Vage face first into the dirt, she hoped Marlo and Vai would be able to capitalise on the positioning and take him down fast. Spinning and flipping about in the air, she pivoted, trying to catch sight of the little air demon before she hit the ground, pulling off a quick succession of flips with ease before breaking off into a run. Maybe she could separate the lieutenant off while the other two handled Leer. Good as the lieutenant may be, she had to lose in a three on one fight, and Laymin had no doubt she could hold her off until the cavalry arrived. Strafing across the arena, if she could just draw Aeri away from the battle before regrouping with the others, they’d hold the advantage… Worst case scenario, she’d be in a position to flank them again if she didn't take the bait...

(This dice thing hates me, lol)

Vai was suddenly surrounded by a wave of dust, making it nearly impossible to see in any direction as the battle seemed to begin from out of nowhere. He did what he could to clear his vision but it was of no use as the boosters, attacks and such had kicked up too much. The best thing to do would be to get out of there as fast as he could. Before he could though, several pieces of rock and debris from the previous attacks and booster launches struck his body and cracked his visor which was not good at all.

He jumped as hard as he could forward and out of the dust storm that had since surrounded him and tried to get his bearings. He saw Laymin through his now broken visor knock who appeared to be Vage in the back with a knee strike and he inwardly flinched at the thought of being kneed in the back. He had done everything he could during his time to ensure that opponents never ended up behind him, but there was always the chance in combat that someone would and a knee to the spine was the last thing anyone needed in combat.

Deciding to try and make the best use of this opportunity from Laymin, Vai lunged forward and gathered his energy into his hands forming two chi daggers. He dove for Vage and attempted to bring the two weapons down onto him, but his visor again made it very hard to see and he was unsure of his attack as he brought the two daggers down with all his might.

(HP: 20/25)

Vai had been about to attack Vage with his two energy daggers when a sudden flurry of hits came at him from the side. Since he had his legs bent and his shoulders over his toes, his balance was safe from the incoming volley but it was still enough to knock him back a step as he turned to try and face who had just fired at him.

A moment later Vai had a blade in his face and undoubtedly the one who shot at him hammering down into him and crashing them both into the ground. The force was enough to shatter the visor and chip away at part of his helmet as he let out a grunt of pain and surprise. Normally, this wouldn't have been a problem for him to stop, but given the poor state of his visor and his surprise at the attack there was nothing he could do this time.

His twin daggers were already weakened thanks to the first two elements of this attack, but as his opponent whirled around and attacked again they shattered upon impact with her weapon. It wasn't long before the weapon in question was jammed into his stomach, cracking his armor and knocking some of the wind out of him. Being as tough as he was and able to control his breathing, he was able to get his wind back but that didn't stop his body from reeling from what had just happened. Vai's armor was ripped up along the chest from the stomach as her blade managed to cause severe damage and his opponent picked him up by the head and began to fly violently towards someone else.

"Hey, I think this belongs to you!" She cried.

Vai was then thrown with tremendous velocity at Corpse, but Vai was not so jumbled as to simply let that happen. He was a professional, and though these new eniknights had earned his respect in battle, he was not going to make it this easy on them. His concentration was already back to full strength and his wind had recovered during the flight over before being thrown as he flipped his body, nearly grazing the ground with his feet before slamming them down into the ground and dragging his body to a halt just before coming into contact with Corpse.

Vai stood up straight and took in a deep breath, letting it out on a quick sigh as he clenched his fists and freed his feet from the ground.

"... That was well done Aerionelle, but don't get cocky just because you managed to damage my suit and gain a temporary upper hand on me. You've got a long way to go to win this battle rookie since none of us are so easily stopped by such a brash and overly violent attack. Executing such a maneuver has cost you more than it has cost me since you used up a lot of energy with that attack. You'd best learn to conserve your resources because that suit of yours will not last forever. After engaging your boosters like that, firing your gattling cannon, and using your blade, not counting any other maneuvers you've made, I'm guessing you've already lost around 13% to 17% of your suit's total energy while I've only lost 4% even after your attack. He said to her in a very calm and composed manner over the comm device which was still in tact despite the damage to his helmet.

Vai was not trying to be mean or to be insulting. Rather he wanted to see how she'd react. Her reaction would tell him a lot about her. Would she get mad at him for mocking her attack? Would she simply brush it off and pay him no mind? Would she take what he said to heart? What was she about to do?

These questions were important for judging a new eniknight's capabilities, and while she was most definitely skilled in combat she did have a lot to learn.

Something most people didn't understand was that all the combat training in the world was great, but it never could compare to a person's natural instincts and reactions to combat. A completely untrained man fighting for his life could easily topple a well trained and seasoned officer if he absolutely had to. Aerionelle was obviously very skilled and very much in tune with her own instincts which made her a deadly combatant despite her being so new to her eniknight armor, but even so she was still a rookie. She would be an invaluable ally in the battles to come and would undoubtedly bring honor and pride to all of her fellow eniknights, but she still had to prove herself on this account. Vai was determined to see that she would though, as she had earned his respect with her guts and her ability to take charge as she had.

Vai engaged the boosters in his feet and took off after her, not bothering to check on Corpse since he knew he'd be alright.

Corpse had finally gotten his leg to stop being an ass, and it wasn't that easy. Normally Marlo just drank a bit of something, had a smoke, and calmed his entire mind and body down, which usually did the trick. However, as standard protocols disallowed him from drinking or smoking in the eniknights, he had to calm himself down manually, which took a freaking lot longer than it did with assistance. What made it worse was that while trying to calm himself down, he had what felt like a truck carrying a furnace constantly running over his left leg, and that certainly didn't help. When his leg was finally done, he shook his head a little and watched the scene unfold. He had missed what appeared to be a smashing hit from Shyv on Vagekid, but he certainly didn't miss Vai being thrown.

Corpse knew that Vai's attack was a little rushed, and Aerionelle seemed to notice this and lay a beating on the guy. What made it worse was the fact that she had the audacity to throw him at Corpse. If he wasn't wearing a piece of shit metal armor she would actually see him somewhat giving a bland smirk. "If only she knew that we weren't rookies." He mumbled to himself as Vai stopped right in front of Corpse's face, and the smile turned back into the standard frown. The Undead Guardian never moved the entire time, for Corpse knew that Vai had himself under control - they wouldn't be operating the damned things if they couldn't. While Aerionelle was progressing at an astonishing rate, Corpse had to agree with every word he could hear over Vai's coms. The 'Flower' was wasting energy on showboat attacks, and Corpse planned on showing the rookies that if they didn't figure out how to operate themselves and maintain energy levels, they would end up like he did when he started using the eniknights - broken, and pissed off.

Vai pushed himself away from Corpse, but the medic had already begun to walk away as he did. Each footstep sounded quite hollow, even if he was a ton of metal. He then took up his position one more time, behind Shyv and Vai, and waited. Judging by their initial approach, Aerionelle was calling the shots and Vage was clueless. Taking out their leader would be the appropriate thing to do, since the Vage kid would be disoriented if he didn't have a commanding officer.

Vai, Shyv. Take out Aerionelle. That chump Vage is useless without somebody telling him what to do. Corpse said simply and bluntly over the coms to his partners. They would get what he meant.

=Between the dust cloud that consumed the area, the underestimated speed the eniknights possessed, and the chi explosion brought on by Vage's failed attack, it seemed nearly impossible at first for Vage to keep track of all three of his opponents where abouts simultaneously; and for this Vage would pay for it.
A whispered "Boo" was heard, not only by means of an open comm channel, but by Vage's own ears, meaning that this voice was dangerously close and was associated with whom or whatever gripped his shoulder. Vage had no real time to react as a punishing blow from Laymin's knee shot into Vages spine. Underneith the exterior of his visor Vage's eyes widened by the insurmountable pain, as one couldn't help but let out a yell of pain from the infliction. Vage was then pushed forward and collapsed a moment from the pain, and as quick as Laymin appeared, she disappeared again boosting back, allowing for her comrade Vai to have a shot.

Vage's HP 25/30

=Much to Vage's unawareness Vai approached Vage in an effort to further Vage's suffering for his failed attack. Had it not been for Vage's teammate Aeri, he may have been in worst condition than he was in.

(P> "Vage, get back, NOW!" =Was the sharp command Vage heard coming from Aeri. Vage's head snapped up seeing Vai come at him along with Aeri in sight flying up over him about to rain death in both of their vicinity. Vage acted fast and gave the mental command to focus full activity to only his right wing. This caused Vage to be propelled from the floor and corkscrew directly left several times. Vage came crashing down again however came down in such a way he didnt sustain any significant damage, which was more than what Vai could say whom was currently at the center of Aeri's wrathful onslaught=

=By the time Vage arose to his feet again, Aeri had just sent Vai crashing towards Corpse, which Vai was able to control himself out of. She then pointed behind Vage with her energy blade behind Vage before issuing to him the next part of their team's strategy= "Vage, get up and follow me! That unit over there is isolated, and you're going to attack it. I'll give you covering fire, now go!"

(P> Right!
=Vage gave a quick nod to comply and shot up in the air, quickly turning around and darted off at whatever target Vage was assigned to assault.

XxEvil1xX rolls 1d36 and gets 7(7) Miss
=Vage forged an energy blade of his own, at least this time the damn thing didnt blow up on him as he remembered the earlier instruction Captain Stone broadcasted after his first blunder. He would see he was fast approaching towards Laymin and began to bring his blade down upon her, however he really didnt take into consideration that the distance Vage had to travel and the fact that Laymin already had eyes upon him motioned that he was doing in a head on frontal attack, one in which Laymin was likely ready for.

”Looks like she isn’t taking the bait…” Laymin thought to herself, skidding to a stop and turning back to analyse how the battle was faring. Vai and Corpse seemed to be engaging with Vage, but instead found themselves copping a fierce counterattack from the lieutenant. Thankfully, it seemed the two had managed to reorient themselves without too much injury, Marlo’s voice echoing through her communicator and broadcasting his instructions. ”Vai, Shyv. Take out Aerionelle. That chump Vage is useless without somebody telling him what to do.”

She smirked, looking to both Aerionelle and Vage as they closed in on her. ”Roger that.” It seemed that her plan had worked to some degree. Sorta. She had hoped to separate Vage and Franz so the others could single out the weak link. Instead, she’d managed to draw attention from her allies at the cost of isolating herself. Still, the incoming attack from Vage and Aerionelle could be deadly, and Shyv quickly drew herself into a defensive stance as they approached. Leer flew in hard and fast, coming in with a heavy handed blow. She grimaced, knowing full well she could dodge, but likely be on the receiving end of a follow up from the lieutenant. This left her with one choice - As much as she wanted to get to Aerionelle, she’d have to get Vage out of her way.

Tanman rolls 1d35 and gets 6(6). Miss.

Aeri’s voice over the communication line presented a small distraction for the soldier, but at least it meant she wasn’t covering her partner. Drawing up her energy blade, Laymin met the incoming strike with her own, the two swords sparking as the chi interacted and flared about in arcs of energy. Pushing forward with her weight, it seemed Laymin couldn’t get the advantage through strength or angle, instead becoming locked in a power struggle with Vage. “I’ve got the kid tied up, you two take down the lieutenant!”

(Kumori rolls 1d35 and gets 12, miss) (Since it's a missed role and attacking with a miss isn't the only way to do things in the heat of combat I thought it best to use that miss to simply skip Vai's attack. No point rushing in for another missed attack when Vai's suit was damaged from Aerionelle's "combo".)

Vai's suit had taken a fairly decent amount of damage thanks to Aerionelle's first attack, and he was having a difficult time keeping it in balance as he followed her. A recent attack on her forced her body down towards the ground, but Vai was able to see her activate her boosters as a giant cloud of dust appeared at her supposed impact point. Anyone who demonstrated her abilities would not have hit the ground, and he heard no physical impact save for the boosters. She was up and flying again for sure, and Vai flew higher to avoid getting trapped in another dust storm and spotted her rocketing away from that spot.

He dove down and activated his own boosters as well to catch up to her, but his boosters were beginning to grow somewhat sluggish and needed replacing. He had damaged them before in another training accident and had yet to repair them, and so he could not catch up to her speed and so decided it was best to hang back and give her space while he searched for other options. Going against Vage would prove fruitless, and Corpse was already taking care of him at the moment so the best thing for Vai to do for now was to get himself into a position where his suits faults would become null and void. Unfortunately that was only possible in close range combat and that was something that Aerionelle seemed to avoid until the last possible moment as demonstrated when she attacked him the first time.

However, despite her claims that her combat thus far was all her, it was in fact her suit since her normal strength and agility were nothing compared to what the suit granted her. As full of herself as she was, she'd never understand that the suit was giving her the ability to accomplish everything she had done so far. She was like a child with a brand new toy. No respect for the suit whatsoever and not a shred of humility about herself and what she could do. That arrogance would prove to be her downfall if she wasn't careful, but Vai really didn't care about it one way or the other anymore. His confidence that she'd be a valuable ally was not shaken, but it was beginning to dim a little bit given her attitude towards herself and others. Feeling superior to anyone simply because of a few new toys and abilities was never the mindset of a true warrior or soldier, and if she didn't shape up she'd be left behind and forgotten.

Vai decided to land temporarily and breath for a moment and so he landed a short distance away from the dust storm which Aerionelle had kicked up from before and simply watched what was going on. The whole time his guard was up, his stance low and ready just in case either Aerionelle or Vage came at him from any angle, he'd be ready.

Laymin gritted her teeth, still forcing her blade back into Leer’s as the clash continued. Her left hand braced her right, putting everything she had into holding the block. She was by no means physically weaker then Vage, but his initial forward momentum had put her on the back foot, locking her into a defensive position. The whir of her thrusters behind her continued to kick up dust as the two manoeuvred, each shift met with an equal counter movement to prevent either revising their attack. It was a stalemate, but Laymin could only hope that Corpse and Vai could win in the two vs. one match against Aerionelle before that air devil came back to assist her partner.

It was at that moment that he struck, breaking the lock with a sudden and unexpected reverse movement, making some distance as Shyv quickly adjusted her forward motion to prevent herself falling out of position. Just as quickly as he left however, Vage was back into the fray, forcing Shyv to rapidly bring her blade around for another heavy block, sliding back slightly in the air as she adjusted her thrusters again. The tactic had thrown her off momentarily, and by building up some speed with each successive thrust, he was slowly forcing her back. Maybe if it wasn’t for the suit the assault would have slowly strained out her muscles, but as Vage continued to dart back and forth, Laymin only had to focus on ensuring her blade was there to meet his, and wait for an opportune moment to counterattack.

It was on the fourth strike that the pattern changed, Vage flying high before shooting down below Laymin, causing her to pivot in midair. Eyes widening as he manipulated his blade into a concentrated ball of energy, she backed up as best she could. She didn’t have time to dodge it, the primary direction of her thrusters leading her up and still well in the trajectory of the energy sphere. Still, as she quickly made her ascent, it gave her time to think up a plan, acting on her split second impulse as she reversed her thrust, flying straight back down towards Vage and his attack.

Tanman rolls 1d35 and gets 19(19). Hit. Damage Dealt: 5

“HHeeeeyyyaaaahhhh!” Giving a triumph battle cry, Shyv flipped into an axe kick, the heel of her eniknight glowing with the energy she’d channelled there. The sparks flew momentarily; dancing around her foot before she felt herself gain the added pressure she needed, flaring her boosters. ”Looks like this package is return to sender!” A final resonating crack went out, the energy ball spiralling back downwards at high velocity towards Vage. Smirking a moment and picturing how bad-ass she looked, she wondered if perhaps it was a little too corny before dismissing the idea, deciding to push her advantage. Jetting down to meet the exploding orb and follow up on the damage, if Vage was lithe enough to dodge, she’d be right there with a follow up attack. Maybe a side-swipe to the head… Of course, as this was all happening, a blanket of smoke seemed to cover the arena, Shyv uncertain if it was sign her teammates were winning or losing. Regardless, she had too much of an advantage to squander by powering down - She'd see if she could catch Leer before he slipped off the radar...

Vai's HP = 10/25

Vai's suit was beginning to catch static as his helmet took a continuous beating throughout the fight. While it remained in tact for the most part, the HUD was getting glitchy and his comm was beginning to buzz and fizzle as the fight dragged on. This rookie's all out strategy was working well for her right now, but she was going to pay dearly for it in the end. But Vai had more things to worry about as one of his boosters suddenly fired on its own for a brief moment, sending him off his feet and to the ground.

"Dammit!" He shouted.

He got back up and jumped into the air, putting his boosters on and hovering to make sure they still worked. Luckily for him, they did for now. He set his sights on Aerionelle and rocketted after her again.

Kumori rolls 1d35 and gets 32. FINALLY!! Damage done, 5)

Vai found her in his sights and flared his boosters to full power for a brief moment, catching up to her on the side and slamming his fist into the base of her helmet at her throat. Since it was armored, it wouldn't have the same effect as a bare fist to a soft throat, but it would still catch her off guard and send a wave of nausea through her system for a few minutes. Getting hit in the throat, protected or not, was never a good thing and was something Vai avoided most of the time save against true enemies, but this rookie had pissed him off with her tactics. Acting this way in the field would either get her killed, or one of her fellow soldiers and either way it was bad news.

After his initial attack he jerked his body around and sent a kick into the same spot, twisting her body backwards and sending her into a backwards and continuous flip through the air. He didn't want to give her the chance to recover quite yet, so he went after her and grabbed her leg and threw her towards the ground. He watched her fall the entire time like a hawk as her suit slammed into the ground. He backed off and gave himself plenty of distance in case she was able to get back up or use some other crazy stunt to further damage his suit. He gave his helmet a quick knock and the buzzing in his comm went away for a brief moment so he decided to use it, ensuring that only his two comrades could hear him.

"This if Vai, my suit's systems have taken some damage thanks to the rookie's all out tactics. If this keeps up I'm going to have to call it and break from the exercise. If that does happens, do me a favor and send her packing right along after me." He said as he caught his breath and took a defensive posture just in case anything else crazy happened.
