Young, intelligent, hansom, charismatic, Vincent Cario is many times viewed as the poster boy for the Stratian military. In training he was often the one who performed at the top of his class. His skill in combat is matched by his overall good nature. Despite the high caliber of his combat proficiency and other merits, Cairo is able to keep his arrogance in check and exemplifies modesty when credit is given to him.
For these qualities it comes as no surprise that he earns respect for his efforts when he is not looking for it.

History

Vincent Cairo lived an ordinary life with an ordinary family in Delta-12. Growing up he really had no animosity towards the Artomidians, in fact he was rather interested in their culture. Even in the wake of the Star Maiden tragedy, Cairo had no true hatred towards them as he was able to understand why the A.N.G felt they had to do with what they did. Regardless of this, the end results of this war still determined whether or not his town, community, and family would live or perish, and for that Cairo had the drive to call to arms.

So begins...

Chapter 3: Siege of Sulta, Enter the winged devils of war.
Location: 20 miles south of Portston.

(Song to set the mood)

=From behind the front lines and blasting artillery being exchanged by both armies. a convoy of four armored protective vehicles (APVs) accompanied by four Stratian tanks race across the country side towards Sulta. Artillery shells from the A.N.G. come crashing down randomly near the APVs as they drive around the craters of the earth that the shelling has already ravaged. In the back of one of the APVs were six members of Ghostplatoon, sitting in their combat gear, rifles in their hands, some with their helmets at their feet, while the armored cabin they are in shakes violently up and down from the driving. Explosions and tank fire being muffled by the reinforced steel plating around them sets the ambiance for the Stratians as they approach the besieged front lines outside of Sulta.
Likely it came to some relief to Aster that Seriph was in a different APV with Lt. Horus, likely explaining to him in further detail of Vage's betrayal. Either way for a brief moment she was free of his presence and was in the accompaniment of some fresh faces for Ghost Platoon, likely some of the replacements for the half of the platoon that perished in the descent to Arkachello.

=One man sitting in the rocky cabin, preoccupies his time glancing at a picture of his family, smiling as it helps take his mind off the violence occurring outside. The name tag sewn on the man's kevlar vest is embroidered with the name Cairo. A youth whos talents, skill, and thinking quickly got him to the ranks of Technical Sergeant. It is rumored he got his stripes being part of another division in Anju by turning a battle around by destroying two A.N.G. tanks that were crossing over a bridge. Likely rumor seeing how Ghost Platoon found some worth in pulling him from another unit.=

10 minutes until extraction point
came the words of the APV's driver on the intercom.

[Two Days Later, 10 miles North West of Sulta]
=The once peaceful grasslands between Portston and Sulta have turned into a living hell. Artillery shells rain down around the few dozen Stratian tanks treading over the hills. Volleys of tank fire in retaliation, crushing any straggler armored vehicles belonging to the A.N.G. Rolling with the Stratian tanks that are punching a hole through the weakening ANG lines is a convoy of armored protective vehicles, transporting infantry soldiers sent to take out the A.N.G foot soldiers while the tanks handle any armored vehicles and naval landings the A.N.G. sends their way, among those being transported are members of Ghost Platoon."

"10 Minutes until extraction,"
came the words of the driver in the from of one of the APCs that Aster, Cairo, and a few others are in. With his helmet resting at his feet and rifle in his hand, Vincent Cairo looked at all the several other people sitting next to and across from him. He sees the quietly entranced sniper Aster Elionsvie sitting across from him. He leans forward tapping her knee with his hand.=
Hey.. Hey you, do you have any gum?
=He asks her in a casually manner.=

=Vincent leaned back once again giving a brief sigh of disappointment, not being a smoker he was hopeful to have some means to keep the edge down as the explosions around them and the shakiness of their transport kept their tensions high. His eyes shifted glancing in curiosity through the small port window that peered through the driver's cabin. He seen the unique Stratian officers hat upon a mans head, that only senior officers and above are permitted to wear. Though he didnt mind the fact that there was an officer among them, it did make him a slight bit nervous knowing that their vehicle may be picked out among the rest for holding such a high ranking individual. His facial expressions remained cool however his hands rattled a little bit with shakes, most likely from his past experiences in battle, something a lot of soldiers over time begin to develop.
His eyes soon then gaze at some of the other patrons aside from him and the sniper girl whom looked as if she was attending a funeral. He has been around enough combat enough to know this is a time where soldiers mentally prepare themselves for whats to happen next and tries to not interfere with them as much as possible, still the radio over the ambiance of explosions would be nice, or at the very least some damn gum.=

Five minutes until extraction, don your equipment and have your weapons ready.
=came the command of the truck driver over the intercom.

=The soldiers in the convoys do as they were commanded as they put their state of the art helmets on, images of fellow comrades shown in the reflections of their visors. In five minutes time the convoy reached its destination. a half mile from the streets of Sulta and just shy of 500 yards from the front line. The Stratian tanks traveling with the convoy move forward to the front lines firing volleys into their Artomidian enemies while the Armored protective vehicles carrying ghost platoon form a wall to shield the platoons to protect them while their acting commander Major Garlon will brief them.
Extraction point reached, move out of APC and immediately form up within the walled formation of the convoy.

=The soldiers quickly grab all their equipment and weapons and rush out of the convoys starting from the closest to the exit. The sounds of stray bullets dinging against the armor plating of the vehicles can be heard on occasions. As the soldiers rush out of the convoy they can see the hell up ahead unfolding. Arrow Piercer fighters fly over their head, heading over the battle lines to sink the enemy ships in the distance. The ships themselves were hard to make out however the flames from their rockets being fired toward them can be seen, but more noticeable is the thousands of bullets and artillery fire being traded back and forth.
Among the arrow piercers flying over head was one of the Stratian Air Force's top flying aces Amelia "Mia; Flay.

=The Stratian soldiers from the different convoys begin to gather together and form up in a well organized disciplined square formation, and awaited for their commander Major Garlon to brief them over their mission about to unfold.

Horatio began to prepare for his speech at the five minute mark. He wasn't always the one that was entirely good at speeches; most people turned to him for advice or insight, not mission debriefing. Nevertheless, he was the only one that could do it, since most of the other Generals/Majors/Higher-ups were either fighting back the ANGs forces - squashing them to say the least - or squabbling behind the lines, not having seen any action in this war at all. He gave a sigh, moving his left arm around periodically to keep it moving. Horatio knew that he would have to stand up straight to face the Platoon, and he wanted to make sure that nothing would break down on him during his debrief. He started to feel around with his legs, moving them slowly to see if they were ready. After a few seconds of that, he decided that he would be fine for the bit.

Jorge stared out at battlefield afterwards. The ANG were hopelessly losing to the superior might of technology - which easily made sense, since they were always going on about the sky being the 'heavens' and technology wasn't 'useful'. Without technology, Horatio knew that he wouldn't have another arm, and probably wouldn't ever walk again. The thought scared him to death, not ever being able to move on your own. Wheelchairs didn't count, for it was like sitting in a couch, yet somehow moving.

His thoughts went darker still to Arkacello, and he winced at the memory. He lost half of the platoon during that siege, and even if it was a victory, it was grim. Sure, the Artomidians lost thousands more, but they were at least dead: a traitor like Vage Leer was still alive and fighting for the wrong people. He nearly spat at the thought of the coward. Horatio knew for a fact that not many men enjoyed this line of work, but stomached it because it was necessary. Vage, on the other hand, didn't seem to have what it took, so he decided to jump ship. That kid would have-

Extraction point reached, move out of APC and immediately form up within the walled formation of the convoy. Horatio's thoughts were interrupted by the call of the pilot, and he nodded his thanks. The soldiers grabbed all of their gear and were quickly assembling outside of his vehicle, as the tanks moved forward to give them cover. Horatio decided that it would probably be fore the best if he got out then, so he opened the door and lightly jumped down. His legs stung fiercely from the landing, and he had to stabilize himself while the entire platoon got into formation: by then, he was fine.

When everybody was settled, he turned to them and stared through the entire ranks, changing and formulating a plan. He needed it to work, or his platoon would probably be scorned as a bunch of losers. He sucked in a breath, and spoke just loud enough over the constant noise. "First of all, forget about Arkacello. Completely. The past is the past." He stared at them all, knowing that more than a few of the platoon members hadn't gotten over it. "Once you do that, you can focus on today's mission. Now, as you have noticed, this looks nothing like Arkacello: The ANG are on solid defense, no element of surprise whatsoever. Yet, they are lacking in numbers, and are slowly thinning out. Operation Lancer, to be carried out by the Ghost Platoon, is a direct attack on two close fronts," He pointed out specifically on their maps with his gadget thingy (In truth, Horatio is terrible with technology...) "where their line is thinning more than the rest, and gain access to the enemy lines. With this small advantage, we can pump other soldiers and armored vehicles into enemy territory and take them by the side." He paused, and then continued.

"Men! Do NOT just think you can walk up with your stealth suits and just assume these people are idiots. The ANG may be pompous and arrogant, but they are not retarded. Keep it tight, and efficient." He then turned somewhat, looking out at the battlefield with narrow eyes before returning. "The tanks will give you coverage as you split into two teams when you reach this junction. One team will take a sniper and head towards the southern section of the attack zone, where a massive outcrop of debris will give that sniper good positioning. The other team will head to the northern section, winding through the trenches as far as you can, then hoping through the artillery holes before striking. Stealth, men, is key."

He stopped once more, and could feel his legs beginning to feel weak. He didn't even look at them, just kept staring at the men, and his eyes hardened. "You will be the finishing blow to the ANG if this mission is completed, for after Sulta is the capital of Holygrounds, and the victory for the Stratians. Ghost Platoon. Let's get it done, shall we?" He left off with the question he always did, and the soldiers went to work dividing themselves into the groups assigned. He purposely put the new kid with the female sniper so that he would get a feeling for how dangerous stealth could be. Snipers loved to pick on their own kind.

He then put his hand to his ear and signaled one of his arrow piercers. "Senior Soldier Amelia Flay, this is Major Horatio Garlon. The Ghost Platoon is about to move out to complete Operation Lancer. I need you to be on lookout for them, and take out any armor that may have been assigned there after my reconnaissance. The skies are all yours, however. Shoot whatever you want when it comes to anything that flies, as I have no experience flying whatsoever. Just be wary of the ground below." He said with a little chuckle, but then became serious once again. He didn't say anything, he just awaited her response.

=Back over at the Ghost platoon side, the Stratians broke from their formation and began gathering into their teams. Vincent met up with Aster and their half of the platoon=
I always did prefer the beach over the countryside
=he jokes casually as he confronts Aster=
The names Vincent Cairo, I will be your demolitions and support guy,
he says as he extends his hand=

=As he introduces himself they hear a hissing whistling sound in the air, as someone in their background screams
HIT THE DECK!!!

=Like a second nature the entire Ghost Platoon throws themselves to the ground as a rocket from one of the ships managed to make its way near them and came crashing down on the other side of their convoy. the Blast struck against the side of one of the transport vehicles, turning it into a spinning airborne mass of flaming steel. The wreckage of the blown up vehicle litterally gets thrown over their entire platoon as it comes tumbling hard against the ground 20 yards from where it originally was.=

=Lt. Horus and Azmeen Seriphs half of the platoon that will be heading North bound gets pulled up by Lt. Horus=
On your feet! On your feet! This is a shitty place in hell to have ourselves a picnic! Get to to the trenches ASAP!

=Azmeen got to his feet and led the north bound charge toward the trenches=

-Like scattering ants the squad divided into two and scrambled in a seemingly organized chaos. Seriph and Lt. Horus rushed with their group to the northern trenches while the smaller ambush group comprising of Aster, Vincent and a handful of others began wheeling around te southern beach shores under the concealment of the tall grasses and beach wood that lyes before the small Artomidian fleet.

One of Horatios personal escorts looks over to his commander as more artilary shells are being seen launched into the sky.

Sir, we need orders on where you are to be escorted to! -he said needing to yell in order to be heard over the tank and artilary fire going off around them.

=Vincent let out a light wistle as he then got up and ran with Aster to the next location after she crippled one area of the Sultan defense=
I guess I wont be needing my explosives any time soon, and here I thought I'd be doing most of the work.

"Well, they know I'm here, now. Keep an eye out for enemy sorties or riflemen for me, and I'll eliminate those mortars for you."

You got it.

=Cairo and Ellionsvie rushed over to an old wooden tower, more than likely intended for a life guard during Artomidian peace time. Cairo possitioned himself by a sand hil that was half the towers elevation, where he sets up his machine gun on its bi-pod and pointed it towards the town walled off by sand filled baricades and sand bags. Soon after, attention was on them by a few members of the Artomidian soldiers. Unaware that collosal damage Aster inflicted came from a sniper, a half dozen or so Artomidians took little precaution in safe guarding themselves from a sniper, as they rushed out from the barricades to hunt down whatever threat inflicted the damage to one of their areas of defense=
Starting to come out of the wood work now, engaging.

=With that Vincent Cairo charged his weapon and began unloading machine gun fire across the advancing enemies. Though it gave away their position, Cairo knew that their discovery was inevitable and it was best for them them to fire the first shots vs the enemy upon discovery. Four of the Artomidians got ripped to shreds from Cairos support fire as the other soldiers outside of the compound made a strategic retreat back into the town.
heh, childs play.

"Ah. So they're in the Southern team's airspace," Aerionelle said, grinning. "Intelligence Officer, could you transmit some orders to the other team for me, and to the fleet? Those fighters are probably headed to attack the fleet as it heads south, and not our stealth team. Have the southern wing pull off and deploy one of the Eniknights, then jam communications from our support boats just as the fighters near engagement distance.

=Kira promptly responded complying with Aerionelles request=
(> Right away Lieutenant, relaying orders to southern team now. Enigma to Hawk 2, you are to dispatch one eniknight to hold off advancing hostile aircraft entering your airspace from the North West. Upon entering your proximity their communications should be cut off by one of our naval vessels within your proximity, the communicatiosn jamning and the suprise eniknight ambush should throw the formation in dissaray.

Only 1? =Vais echoed eniknight thought out loudly as he flew their draco towards its location before establishing communications with their intelligence officer=
(> Enigma this is Blaze, I need to confirm the order given, that we are to deploy only one eniknight at this time.

=Kira then sends her reply= (> That is correct, it is Lindwurm's confidence that a single eniknight is needed to fend off against a wing of five arrow piercers. The Draco harboring the other eniknight is to remain on course so as not to jeopordize the mission.

...(> Copy Enigma, deploying 1 eniknight at desired location.
=Vai says as he then speaks to Shyvell =
(> Here's your moment to shine Laymin good luck to you.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

=As the pulsed blast ripped through their formation one of the three arrow piercers accompanying Mia and Trent shouts over their radio=
Shots fired, scramble! Scramble!

=The Stratian arrow pierces then break away from each other
(> Nothing is coming up on radar from where shot was fired. =said one of the other Arrow Piercer pilots

=The other pilots decided to take Flay's lead in either pinpointing or destroying whatever attacked them by forming a V formation behind the red arrow piercer and began blanketing the ground below with rapid burst of railgun fire.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________
=Meanwhile back at Sulta Vincent Cairo quickly followed Aster into the city. He found it akward that a moment earlier they were putting up the fight of their life and now all of a sudden they could practically stroll into the city with little resistance as the Artomidians in the area are quickly retreating=
This can not be this easy
=He says to Aster=

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
=Seriph soon returns back to the trench he left earlier. It seems his men have already rushed into the city, as only the dead remained in the trench with him. He was about to climb out and join his men but stopped a momment and walked to wear a carefully place Stratian flag draped over the body of Lt. Horus. He pulled the flag off and pointed the gun at the dead officers chest and fired a round into him=
That should cover some loose ends.
=He says as then climbs out of the trench and joins his men alreadying in Sulta.=

(Quite okay, well worth it, awesome post)
(Joker you're up)

=While the battle was going on in the south, up to the north within the harbors of Sulta many of the A.N.G. troops retreating to the shipbays were being cut down fast. Victory was imminent for the Stratian vanguard.
Seriph returned with his men and shouted to them to be heard= By emergency order sent by Major Garlon, I am assuming the position of platoon commander! You are to route the enemy into their ships with which our anti-tank combatants will then sink. Executive orders still stand we are not to take any prisoners. I better not see a single one of you showing any mercy to these greedy Artomidian pigs! Standard infantry advance on the fleeing enemy through the eastern main road. Anti-Tank wheel around the western perimeter and prepare to sink the ships once you see them all board. Dont shoot until they have boarded, we are going to drown them like the rats they are!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
=On the far eastern side Aster and Cairo were also pushing the A.N.G. troops back to the harbor. Aster calculating her shoots taking out the main threats of each sub group of soldiers while Cairo mowed down the remaining and provided Aster with cover. Group after group was wiped out by the two and as each group fell they picked up their weapons and sprinted forward to the next group of resistance. From Vincent Cairo's peripheral vision he began see three large passenger ships that made it past the Stratian airstrikes. =
heh, looks like their getaway boats have finally arrived.. Looks like we will be having chow on time after all.

=While Aster and he were sprinting to their next advancement, the sight of the boats then quickly began to bother Cairo. For off in the distance he seen three more passenger boats coming their way as well=

o0o0 ( Why on Artomidia would the A.N.G. send that many passenger ships for evac?, there aren't that many enemy troops here.. ) Cairo thought=

(Sorry about missing my turn as the other piercer. I'll hopefully make it up by kickstarting Aerionelle's evil plans.)

Aster grimaced slightly as new orders crackled over the communications link. No prisoners, huh? So this would be a massacre, probably the first of many. The sniper, while she had long since come to terms with the inevitability of such casualties, still felt a taste of bile rising in her throat at the thought of it, a taste which was, however, promptly discarded as, taking aim once again, she fired the last round in her clip into the head of the last of a small enemy squadron. The way things were now, the ill-planned enemy evacuation would just lead to even further casualties. And, with their current orders...

Aster was just about to rise to a standing position and follow her squadmate, the unusual lad named Cairo, when suddenly something stopped her. A faint flicker of movement on the edge of her vision halted her advance, and in the next instant, her fears were confirmed as a small red flash locked straight onto the man standing next to her. That was a sniper's laser sight! In an instant, without thinking, Aster sprang into action. "DOWN!" She cried frantically, throwing all of her weight forward and slamming into her comrade as he himself prepared to stand up. At the same time, a loud roar rang out across the plaza, followed by a shriek of tearing metal as the shoulder plate of the sniper's armor was ripped apart by a high-calibur bullet, one which thankfully only grazed her. There would be a bruise, for sure, but at least her arm hadn't been disabled by the shot.

"This is Elionsvie! We've been ambushed by enemy snipers! Repeat, it's an ambush!" She cried into her radio, only to hear nothing but static in response. Her eyes widened in understanding as she rose, darting behind a piece of crumbling masonry as a second shot resounded across the courtyard, followed by several more, small clouds of dust rising all around her as countless projectiles thudded dully into the ground nearby, keeping her pinned down. They were being jammed, which could only mean one thing. The entire city had been a trap, one they'd been overconfident enough to walk right into.

At that very moment, concealed within hidden nests across the city, countless Artomidian marksmen were lining up their shots and opening fire on the hapless Stratian invaders. At the same time, a renewed shout from the docks rang out across the city as the first wave of reinforcements, having landed with the now sunken ships that had gone to the aid of the ill-fated strike team, leaped from their own hiding spots and sprang into action, advancing under covering fire from their concealed snipers and assaulting the main enemy attack force while they were forced to search for cover from the omnipresent enemy marksmen. But this wasn't all, for in the next moment, the task force sent after the "evacuation" transports was also attacked, abruptly fired upon from several machine gun nests, while more snipers attacked the startled stragglers. In an instant, the enemies who had seemed to be routed turned about, and attacked with renewed vigor, turning the scene of a would-be massacre once again into a battlefield. With their communications down, their line of retreat cut, and their men surrounded, the numerically superior Stratians were thrown into momentary confusion, which was all the Artomidians needed to strike back. And, with their air support squadron occupied with the southern attack team, they wouldn't even be able to call in airstrikes to once more turn the tide. It wouldn't be enough to defeat them - their forces were far too vast for that - but it would buy enough time for the second wave of reinforcements to land, which would in turn buy time for the third and final wave. Although even the one who had orchestrated this plot didn't expect to achieve assured victory, she didn't doubt that three platoons of fresh, eager troops would be able to hold off the main enemy forces long enough for her real coup de grace, the charge of the main force of the Artomidian army which was already at that moment being ordered. The south team, despite being split, had at least made it to the enemy anti-air position. And, if they couldn't reclaim the turrets, they were under orders to at least destroy them. But AASTs, even in small numbers, were a force to be reckoned with, and Aerionelle had a feeling that the four remaining soldiers would be able to complete the job.

Meanwhile, she herself had work to do. She smiled grimly as the distance to her target finally reached the ideal position, and, opening communications, at last made her move.

"This is north team. We're making our move," She said quietly. "We won't let the men we've lost have died in vain. Now, all units, DIVE!" As she spoke these words, a tremor shook the wing of Dracos as they turned their noses downward. Like one single body, they began to plummet earthward, their many weapons already unfolding in preparation for the fight. Fifty meters till optimum range, and the young commander knew they'd been spotted. 25 meters, and she could hear the first peals of the alarms. But that didn't matter. They had the advantage of surprise, and, she mused, they were in range.

"WEAPONS FREE!" She bellowed, at the same time locking on to several priority targets and releasing a hail of missiles, ones she'd enhanced herself with trace amounts of eniphoton and chi. A black cloud descended upon the enemy facility, and, with an ear-splitting roar and a flash of crimson light, several small defense turrets vanished into flames before they could even come on line. In another instant, the other Dracos were releasing their own attacks, carpeting the surface of the defense post with a hellish, searing rain. Men screamed below as they were engulfed by countless explosions, and by the time the formidable anti-air gun had begun to unfold, the landing zone had already been cleared.

"Bail, bail! We're going in hot!" Aerionelle cried, dropping from her own ship and landing in a crouch on the ground, unfolding her suit's built in chaingun in the next instant and opening fire on a small squad of men scrambling to defend themselves, gunning them down before they could even find cover. She smirked. Those schmucks were only using their sidearms. So they really hadn't seen this coming, had they? This position was behind enemy lines, far enough to seem fairly safe. Well, that just worked in her favor in the end, since she was fairly sure she'd hit the armory with that last attack.

"Head for the main building. Clear security stations on your way up, and head for the control room. There's not much time, so make it quick! Redtails Six and Seven, you take point. Eight and Nine, you're vanguard. Everyone else, form up on me."

=Vincent Cairo was pushed quickly down to the ground as his comrade Aster appeared to be shot, unbeknownst to him, the bullet just grazed her armor. He was taken back a second as the ambushing sniper shot caught him off guard, then quickly snapped out of it and looked to Aster=

Shit, you okay?!

=he asks while she notified the Major of the ambush. Rather than get an answer Aster quickly got up and darted to some cover, something Vincent wasn't too foolish to not catch on to, and did the same. Pop shots of pavement and sparks shot up from the ground at their feet and a menacing high pitch zipping noise is heard fading in and out around them while bullets flew past them. Fortunately they successfully made it to cover, where Cairo sat up his machine gun and began firing back towards the snipers.=

Where the hell did they come from?!

=At the same time Seriph and his men were rushing to put the nail in the coffin. With a bulk of his men armed with anti-tank propelled weapons they made it around one of the corners of the perimeters of the city that would lead them to the harbor, yet they were greeted with unexpected company. One of their own men in front of Seriph got struck down by an A.N.G. sharp shooter as a few of the men alerted the team by shouting out= "SNIPERS"

=Azmeen cursed under his breath= "Artomidian dogs don't get the hint they're defeated...
=He looks at the three members in his team armed with only rifles and he points out to where he believed the shot came from=
You three! Take care of the stubborn little resistance, the rest of you double time to the harbor. MOVE!

=The team broke off even more and the anti-tank team ventured further ahead. All of a sudden all hell broke loose for Azmeens men as the air around them got ripped open by Machine gun fire.= Hit the deck!! =Azmeen shouted as his team of eight threw themselves to the ground, reliving a scene they just recently experienced. Pissed, Azmeen looked back to his men=
Switch to your primary weapons and return fire!!!

=With that said he did the same and began firing at his enemy.=
A setup! It was a fucking setup!!

=Seeing that the enemy was overwhelming his men he burrowed back behind cover and attempted to get on his platoons com=
Major, this is Seriph of Ghost Platoon, we've been ambushed. We need either reinforcements or an airstrike at the northern edge of the Sultan harbor! Repeat... =the radio gives off a loud violent feedback=
Fuck!!! Being jamned again?!!

=One of Seriph's men pats him on the shoulder to get his attention having to shout over the sound of machine gun fire.= Commander! LOOK AT YOUR LEFT, OVER THERE!!! =He says as he tried to stay down pointing off in the distance. Seriph looked out and about a hundred yards to his left he seen a full allied platoon, likely Hades platoon pinned down as well by flying bullets that looked like a ceiling of fire and flying metal, inches above their head. Seriphs eyes narrowed seeing that A.N.G. somehow managed to spring out of the jaws of defeat, not believing what he is seeing.=

=After a brief moment of static over the radio frequency Major Garlon made his distress call in a familiar voice to the major was heard.=
This is General Calvin Minos Chief Commander of the 2nd Stratian Vanguard. I have copied your last transmission. Request for retreat is denied, Major.

=Of all the Generals to receive the distress call, General Calvin would likely be the least likely wanted man to have heard it. He was not just a general, he was one of thee generals within the Stratian ranks. And already hitting political flack for his adopted son, Vage Leer's, betrayal, he was not about to have a key location lost to the same platoon who was affiliated with him.

You and your men will hold your ground on Sulta. You have three tanks heading your way now to assist you, and an aerial cargo ship has been dispatched towards your location to deploy two of our MT-01 Hell Minions as well. You will not lose ground at Sulta, Major Garlon, that is a direct order, Major Garlon.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Meanwhile in the streets of the harbor city, scores of Stratian soldiers where shocked when they witnessed the arrival of A.N.G. reinforcements. Volleys of shots were exchanged from both lines, and rows of men on both sides dropped. However the exchange didnt last long. Both sides were within so close of proximity of one another that they began to charge each other with bayoneted weapons and engaged each other in violent close quarters combat, this time the Stratians were on the receiving end of Sulta's Hell.
An odd screaming noise began growing out of the faintness of the area as aircraft began diving down towards the combat zone. No one in the Stratian ranks would suspect it was the A.N.G. Dracos from North team. As quickly as they soared over head of the city, they blanketed the surface below them in explosions , destroying and killing everything caught within the trail of death.
As soon as the Dracos fly by objects began shooting out of them and descending down upon the scorched earth. The Eniknights of Aerionelle, Corpse, and Vage landed in a crouched position. Cybernetic wings on their back adjusting a moment while the eniknights user's get their barrings.

=Kiras voice comes over the open A.N.G.E.L. channel=
(> All of North team has successfully touched down at designated drop zone. Repeat, all of North team has successfully touched down at designated drop zone, commencing forward with the final phase of Operation Taipan

=Vage's helmet clad head arose, from the exterior he looked poised and calm, yet from underneath terror was in his eyes.

=In Sulta carnage has been reawakened on the battlefield as the A.N.G.'s Trojan horse of reinforcements made their way into the harbor and pushed back the once winning Stratian forces. Terror bestowed upon the Stratians however was mostly credited to the unusual sight of the A.N.G's new cybernetic angels of death. A marvel that the more advanced Stratians could not believe the more primitive Artomidians had at their arsenal.
Not all of the eniknights were ravaging the battlefield however, as one eniknight has barely moved from his landing zone. Standing in the middle of a concrete clearing the eniknight adorned Vage stands in a trance fixated at the number of bodies around him, eyes fixated on the platoon patch on many of their sleeves, the Ghost platoon patch he had familiarized himself with since the start of the war. The Stratian's fire at him, yet do not phase him, as their bullets bounce off his armor plating as if they were beads of rain. Shuttering breathing can be heard in Vage's breath beneath the helmet as the looming thoughts that he may have to kill some of his former comrades has dawned on him more so now then it ever has before.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________

=A short distance away from the stationary eniknight Vincent and Aster were behind cover. The A.N.G. may have done the two a favor by stopping them in their tracks where they did, for if they advanced any further than they would have surely been caught in the middle of the carnage up ahead. However they were not given the order to retreat just yet so the only thing they had to go off was to continue picking off what enemies they could, with out being swallowed up by the revitalized A.N.G. line. Cairo peeked his head up over the rubble Aster and he took cover behind and spotted the Ark of War, stairing at the dead soldiers. =
"Hey, Elionsvie, check 10 oclock, What the hell is that thing....and why is it just standing there?
=Cairo questioned out loud as he fixated his machine gun in its direction.= Is that thing one of ours? looks a bit too high tech to be Artomidian

"Bait, if I had to guess," The sniper replied, picking up a rifle lying in the hands of a body nearby and poking it out from behind her cover, only to grimace and recoil as the weapon was shattered in her grasp by a well-placed sniper round, forcing her to duck quickly back, going prone behind the large, collapsed heap of rubble that had once been a prosperous-looking storefront, that was now the only thing between her and the armor-piercing high-impact rounds of the sniper nest across from her. "Looks like it's packing a load of armor, and even vehicle-class projectile shielding. It's probably some sort of drone," She suggested. "It's probably not advanced enough to move around, but it's tough enough to shrug off our fire, and it looks like it does have some weapons on it. It's probably a decoy meant to draw out nearby squads so the snipers can pick them off." She sighed grimly. "Which, of course, means that we need to get rid of it so none of the advance forces rush right into this mess. Those snipers already know we're here, so... permission to fire, sir? I've got a clear angle from here out of the enemy's L.O.S.," Aster offered, beginning to slowly slide her rifle beneath a slab of rubble that would keep the enemy marksmen from eliminating her and lining up a shot, just waiting on her superior's order to fire.

.....

The operation north of Sulta had been going well, but there was one small problem. Aerionelle could already feel a migraine coming on as she glanced about herself. The second floor of the facility had just been cleared, and the last remaining guards were currently holed up in the control room above them, but, tallying up her squadmates on the map, she found something very displeasing.

"Oi. Corpse. The Stratian was supposed to bring up the rear, but it looks like he dropped early and hasn't moved from the landing zone. As it is, he's dropped in near the northern edge of Sulta. That's over a klick off course. You know what that means." Giving this comment a moment to sink in, she immediately opened a line to command.

"Things have just gone from bad to worse, Captain," Aerionelle said simply. "The Ark's failed to link up, and has left the target zone. By the look of things, that brat's headed for enemy lines. This op's almost complete. I can finish the mission, even with only my own Eniknight and the commandos. Request permission to divert Undead Guardian to recover both the stray and Shyv, over."

Aster was just getting ready to take her shot when it happened. With a sudden flurry of movement and a flash of light, the enemy unit she'd expected was just some sort of dummy or probe abruptly activated some kind of jump pack and took flight... straight towards them. Although her commander was taken by surprise, one might say that when she was preparing to eliminate a target, the young sniper's finger was always just a heartbeat away from pulling the trigger. Unlike her commander, who did not have time to fire, Aster managed to adjust her aim in time, and, expecting that they were about to be attacked, wasted no time in taking the shot. With a roar, the bullet exited the chamber, streaking towards the enemy that was, at the same time, barreling towards the shooter at a truly unbelievable pace.

(Rolled 8. Miss.)

The bullet struck home, a resounding impact ringing out as it collided with the target's shoulder... And bounced off, barely even leaving a dent. The sniper's eyes widened in shock. That had been a high-calibur armor piercing round! Just how tough was this thing's armor, to deflect something like that so easily?! And how was it even possible, for that matter? With the speeds this enemy unit was moving at, it couldn't possibly have that much plating on it. So... how?! Just what sort of new equipment did the Artomidians have?

"Damn," Aster cursed, ducking back as the enemy passed them by and streaked away. For a moment, she feared it was coming in for another pass at them, but instead, it just seemed to pull out, headed somewhere else. "Comms are still jammed, sir. We can't even report that thing, whatever it was. And, where we are now..." A bullet finished Aster's point for her as it embedded itself in the pavement nearby. Pinned down like they were, moving back to regroup and report the mysterious enemy unit would also be impossible. Damn, what sort of a situation was this? As a sniper, she hadn't been in a firefight of this sort since the initial landing. But with so many enemy sharpshooters all across the area, she wouldn't even be able to take them out this time without getting blasted from all sides! She hated to admit it, but if the enemies advanced now, they had almost no chance of surviving.

Aster and Cairo remained pinned down by the snipers on top of the far building. Cairo took his helmet off and lifted it slightly above the baricade the two was using from shielding and concealment. It took only a second or two before two bullets wizzed by one grazing the side of the helmet before he pulled it back down.
grrr... this is so irritating being stuck like this in a jamned area... I could use smoke grenades to help conceal us but theres too much open ground past what the smoke would cover. Any word on us getting any backup?
=A brief moment after that question two large blue streaks darts across the land and slams into the building the snipers rested on bricks and debris rain down as the site of smoldering wreckage exist now where the sniper nest once did. wooo hoo hoo hoo!!!! Yeah!!! Looks like things didnt go so sour after all, Come on Ellionsvie lets regroup with whatever the heck saved our asses. =Cairo celebrated now safely standing up as black smoke bellowed out from the location his enemy snipers were last seen=

Seriph and the rest of Ghost platoon also were being held back by overwhelming odds to the Northern part of the Sulta. a ceiling of flying bullets from machine guns reigned in the air inches above them. The sound of rapid bullets flying non stop at such high speads was menacing to the ears and the prolonged exposure would begin to take its toll on the moral of the Stratian vanguard and began to weigh in on the mens sanities
We're fucked, we're absolutely fucked!!! I have to get out of here!!! One of the men says losing it after being subjected to the consistent chain gun fire. Seriph and his men try to stop the man but he was too far out of reach when the man stood up to retreat. The man was lit up several times by bullets the moment he stood, poor bastard didnt have a prayer of a chance.
=Other men from the Ghost Platoon look to their commander= What the fuck do we do now Seriph?! We cant advance, or retreat what the fuck do we do now?!
=Seriphs eyes narrowed and barked back at the man questioning him= Unless you want to end up like Sanzi over there, just lay low and hold out a bit more. I just sent out coordinates to the Major on where to give covering fire via a text channel. The damn jamners make it take forever to get sent out, so just shut up and lay low!

Shortly after saying so two blue rays of concentrated energy rips the air over their head and pierces the center of the A.N.G's lines holding down Seriph and his men. A massive explosion engulfs the area and buys Seriph and his men enough time to get out of the trenches. Get behind the city walls now!, We'll wait for our reinforcements to show up before advancing further! Seriph shouted while pointing back a ways to where they first began advancing into Sulta. The Ghost platoon commandos and a few other Stratian infantry men race towards the area Seriph ordered the men to regroup while the large MT-01 Hell Minion off in the distance began running towards the area it fired at.

Hearing his commanders order to leave the premesis, Major Garlon's driver complied to his order with a 'Yes sir.' As the hatch opens to the large tank Major Garlon mounted, the soldiers within move out of the way and snap to attention as they listen directly while the rest of their detachment is briefed via radio. "Tank Unit, this is Major Garlon. I'm taking control of this unit. Head towards the city to provide relief for the soldiers stuck in the streets, and make it pronto! We do NOT want to be hanging around when those two go at it!" =The large Hell Minion advancing towards Seriph's side of Sulta begins running past Major Garlon and his tanks.

Asher had been about to shake her head in response to the officer's question, when, suddenly, an answer was given for her. With a tremendous explosion and a roar of collapsing masonry, the sniper nest was abruptly annihilated by heavy weapons fire she thought she recognized as a tank round. Breathing a sigh of relief, she, too, slowly rose, still scanning the skyline warily for any sign of enemy shooters.

"It seems that the armored corps have finally arrived," Aster concurred much less enthusiastically than her commander. "I still can't establish communications with either command or the main force. Nevertheless, I'd say our six is clear to pull back for now." Lowering her rifle, she nevertheless kept it at the ready, keeping her eyes and ears peeled for any sign of another ambush.

"I'll follow your lead, sir."

.....

Aerionelle had been following the course of the battle in Sulta as best she could via squad command. Although she'd been trying to focus on her own operation, she'd found it rather difficult to when she couldn't help but notice flashes of red abruptly consuming the dots symbolizing the allied squads on the ground. A feeling of guilt, dread, and horror began to build up inside her gut as she realized that each and every one of those dots that disappeared into light were people with names, faces, memories, and families... and that they were dying on her orders. Perhaps, she wondered, maybe she wasn't cut out to be an officer. As a squadron commander, she'd had so much more direct control over her men's safety. But, like this, how was she supposed to ensure the survival of everyone in her command? People died in war. Nothing she could do could change that. She felt so... helpless. It both disgusted and infuriated her.

When orders abruptly came telling her to break off from her already largely complete operation, then, and rejoin the battle on the front, she gave a simple, two word reply of "Understood, Ma'am," trying to sound as composed as she could, and then, hastily ordering the AASTs to continue without her, she swiftly powered up her chaingun and, blasting out of a window, unfolded her Eniknight's wings and swiftly took off. Powering up the thrusters to full, she wasted no time in rising away from the facility, not wanting to be targeted by the auto-defenses that were still on standby, and, acquiring her target based on Leer's location, immediately setting a course and moving towards the objective as quickly as she could. At her current distance, it would take her a matter of minutes to arrive there. She just hoped that she showed up in time to prevent further losses at the hands of those enemy armor units...

(What is in bold will be able to be stolen. xD)

Garlon knew that things would get messy, but hadn't expected such damage to be done in such a short time. To recap, he had simply latched onto the tank unit to watch out for his platoon, as well as a cautionary move just in case the Minions wouldn't be crushing their enemies. Garlon knew that he would be wrong for assuming such ideas, and he proved himself right the moment another robot showed up. His eyes went wider than ever as in the distance he watched as 2 robots engaged the Hell Minion, and his mind went into overtime. How many other robotic soldiers did the ANG have hiding? Could they really be as dangerous as my gut is telling me, or am I overreacting? Hmm...

Garlon continued to move with the tank unit until he saw something out of the corner of his binoculars as he looked back - slight rippling of movement. He wasn't certain of what it was, but he wanted to investigate. After zooming and getting a better focus, he nearly swore again. Aster and Vincent were heading back towards the deployment, unaware that Garlon had left the area to hopefully establish communications. The irony was so thick it was annoying. Garlon mulled it over for a bit, wondering what could be going on in their minds to think that heading back to the deployment would be a wise idea with that behemoth just standing there attacking two robots. He attempted to radio over to them.

Ghost Platoon, this is Major Garlon, requesting you stop your retreat immediately and hook up with the armored unit. Whatever those robotic units are, they are able to engage an entire Hell Minion while sustaining limited damage, I repeat those metal soldiers are more than they seem. Avoid the deployment area, as it will be changed. I repeat, rendezvous with armor unit to your..." The communication continued on with the coordinates and whatnot, but Garlon had the sickening feeling they didn't hear him. He needed a plan B without getting too close to that damn thing. However, splitting up the tank unit would be a horrible idea. Right now, he really needed word from Command and hopefully from Ghost Platoon to make the next move.

=Seriph and the men of Ghost Platoon remained conceiled behind the wall that perimitered the city outskirt away from the A.N.G. defenses that had ambushed them. They were lucky to narrowly escape being slaughtered, thanks to the devastating blast delivered by the advancing MT-01, now gaining ground. Seriph held his hand out sternly to tell his men not to move out from cover just yet, after what had just happened he was not about to fall into another Artomidian trap twice in one day. One of the soldiers pointed out in the distance while the rest of the men checked their corners to ensure no enemy combatants were moving in on them= Guys look!

=Ghost platoon looks for a moment toward their deployed location to see that the calvary had arrived for them. The giant mecha MT-01 taking the lead, treading into battle as a squad of tanks engulfed by a smoke cloud of dust they emmitted was trailing behind=
"host Platoon, ths is Major Garlon, requesting you stop your retreat immediately and hook up with the armored unit. Whatever those robotic units are, they are able to engage an entire Hell Minion while sustaining limited damage, I repeat those metal soldiers are more than they seem. Avoid the deployment area , as it will be changed. I repeat, rendezvous with armor unit to your.. "

=The soldiers looked at each other a bit in confusion as they heard Major Garlons orders= Metal soldiers? The heck is he talking about?
Beats the hell out of me
=Seriph looked at them and tried to kill the chatter= We have our orders. Ghostplatoon begin rushing toward the armor division. We will form up behind the tanks for the next advancement until further orders are given. Lets move!

=Ghost Platoon begins to rush in a bit of a disorganized cluster back towards the armored units, weapons in hand and at the ready. Seriph go on his com as they make their way towards their commander= (> Personell Seriph here, we read and copy your orders. Ghost Platoon is enroute to attach with armored division now.

=While Victor and Aster were running towards the MT-01 being ambushed by the odd flying metal devils they were able to move out of the jamning radius of the A.N.G. boats where they too recieved the same frequency. Both of them stopped a moment as they discovered they were running in completely the wrong direction. = Well so much for the grand performance. Well you heard the man, looks like we got our coordinates. =With that Victor and Aster too changes their routes and began running towards the armored unit while the MT-01 engaged in combat with the strange flying soldiers remained out of their range in the distance. Vincent too chimed in on the com to report in= This personell Cairo of Ghost Platoon's Recon unit, we copy your orders and heading to our coordinates now.

Garlon was starting to believe that his sickening feeling was right when a voice crackled through the coms, which created a bout of laughter in delight from the general. Personell Seriph here, we read and copy your orders. Ghost Platoon is enroute to attach with armored division now. Garlon was starting to look seriously happy when he heard those words, regardless of how shifty Seriph was: he was just glad that he could regroup with the Platoon. His spirits lifted, Horatio was then greeted by another voice, which once again caused Garlon to laugh in happiness.

This personell Cairo of Ghost Platoon's Recon unit, we copy your orders and heading to our coordinates now. Horatio was starting to get odd stares from a few of the tank unit, as they weren't on the same frequency, but Jorge didn't care: his platoon was beginning to gather up, regroup, and hopefully finish the mission on top.

A few minutes later, after searching and scouring the horizon, Garlon spotted Stratian men heading towards the interception zone where he had marked. Maybe, just maybe, this mission would go over well.

Until a gust of wind shot over the tank unit, and Garlon looked up in confusion to see a metallic red robotic soldier sail over them.

Corpse hadn't meant to get that close to the Stratians. Honestly, he didn't even know which faction they were. He hadn't been paying that much attention to what was going on around him, instead being more focused on his annoyance with the Hell Minion seemingly destroying his commanding officer and that loser. Corpse wasn't sure what they were up to, but it was starting to piss him off. When he saw Vage having to save his commander's ass, Corpse started wondering if Remil was truly even useful. Sure she had seemed it before, but right now? Nope.

So Corpse flew in a little low and scared the crap out of some Stratians. It wasn't like he cared. He was aiming for the Hell Minion, since nobody else seemed to want to hit it. With that thought in mind, Corpse glided in low, and prepared for a little fun.

JokerofSpades rolls 1d36 and gets 21(21).

The Hell Minion was slow as crap, so it didn't react fast enough to Corpse flying in and getting basically right in front of it. Since it was just cooling down from its last rail gun, it was basically defenseless as Corpse drew his pistol and unloaded all 6 rounds into the long chamber where the rail gun is fired. He wasn't too sure how much damage he did, as by then he knew that if he didn't bolt fast, the Hell Minion would angle itself towards him and start unleashing its own shit at him. Placing more energy into his bottom thrusters, Corpse flew up and began to back off as the Hell Minion slowly turned his way.

"Leer, Remil, what the fuck are you guys doing down there?"
