History
Anaya is the youngest out of the two cubs born to the King and Queen. She grew up being Adisa's shadow. She could not understand why he would rule one day and not her. However, as she got older..she began to understand. She threw herself into the hunt, quickly gaining rank as the seasons passed. Anaya often finds herself gone from the Pride for long periods of time though she knows that she could never truly leave. As of late, whispers of Humans invading the lands have begun springing about and it is her duty to see if these rumors are true.

So begins...

It was quite early in the Pride Lands. Adisa had been up with his father, Tabor, for some time already. The two lions went about their days in such a fashion quite often now since the paler lion had come of age. That morning, they had been simply walking the kingdom, speaking with one another in low voices. "Adisa, I just cannot understand why you fight us so on the subject. Rahel is a upstanding member of the Pride. She would make a wonder Queen."

The younger Lion's steps slowed a bit, his father suddenly walking in front of him. He was not opposed to the whole idea of having a Queen. There had been a time when he would have been more than happy to take one of the lionesses as his own. However, the moment Nylah had disappeared from his life things had changed. As he'd grown, Adisa had found that none in the Pride could hold interest as his childhood friend had been able to.

"Father, please..not now. You know where I stand on the subject." His voice was soft yet held the power fitting a future King. "I do..though you must also understand our position. Your mother and I have ruled many years and our time is nearing an end. We are planning on stepping down within the month. I do not with to command you to be with someone you do not wish to be with however, in this case..I cannot allow you to continue down this path. You must produce an heir, Adisa. Anything could happen and to leave the Pride without a ruler..well..that simply cannot happen."

Adisa did not care for his father's words though he understood them. Before he was able to reply, a striking blue bird landed before them and bowed. Zanru was a descendant of Zazu, the beautifully colored bird that had served under Mufasa and Simba and she resembled the ancient bird greatly. "Greetings my King, my Prince. I bring news from the Pride Lands. Hyenas have been spotted invading our lands. They are roaming unchecked, killing all that lay in their path."

It was not often that the foul creatures dared to enter their lands. Tabor was quick to speak. "Adisa and I will deal with the intruders. Zanru, return to Pride Rock and warn the others. They should be on high alert until the Prince and I return." The bird nodded, suddenly taking off and heading in the direction of the giant rock. The King took off then, heading in the direction that Zanru had told them that the Hyenas had been spotted.

They ran quickly, making progress rather fast. It was easy to spot the invaders. A group of about five or six were cackling and tormenting a small cheetah cub. The two lions headed straight towards them. The Hyenas spotted them and immediately tok off running. Tabor took off after the slower ones and Adisa took after those that were faster. He ran quickly, trying to catch them. He would make them pay for their invasion.

He was unsure of how long he'd ran before he'd lost them. He slowed down, coming to stop and simply took in his surroundings. He was in the very outskirts of the Pride Land, rather close to the Graveyard. He'd never been out that far before, had never had a reason to be. Adisa allowed himself to remain there, standing and trying to catch his breath. His father would be fine on his own. The older Lion was a great warrior and so the younger one did not worry.

Anaya had awoken well after most of the others within the Pride that morning. She headed down to join the other lionesses at the watering hole, easily seeing that everyone was already fed and was simply resting now. She bowed her head slightly to her mother in greeting before she helped herself to some breakfast. "Anaya, my sweet, we are in dire need of a fresh kill. You will take the others on a hunt this morning. Your father and brother are already out with their patrol and it would please them to come home to a nice meal."

Anaya simply nodded to her mother. Of course, the older lion was right. Their food was getting low and it had been some time since they'd hunted. "As you command, mother." The Princess then rounded up two other females and within minutes they'd taken off, heading into the Pride in search of food.

Much of the morning was spent in this fashion. The three hunters had no idea about the Hyenas though they went nowhere near where they'd been sighted. The small group soon split up, the females dropping low to the ground so that any prey that was nearby would not see or hear them coming. Anaya was proud to be the head of the hunt though it came with great responsibility. She had to make sure that they always had food, no matter what.

It was tiring though she gladly did the job. She only wished that Adisa would find a Queen so that she could share that responsibility. She still couldn't understand what he had against Rahel. The female was everything that a Queen should be. A few moments passed when the sound of a roar caused Anaya to freeze for a moment. The others had gotten a kill and was likely headed back to the Pride.

The Princess, however, decided to remain alone within the Pride for a while longer. She rose from her crouch, slowly walking. There was a watering hole nearby that she had often visited when she'd been a cub. Slowly, she changed directions so that she was headed towards it. Very few ever visited it and that was why she liked it. It was secluded and shady, a perfect place to relax.

It didn't take her long to reach it and she slowly entered the area, allowing herself to lie down at the edge. It was nice to not have her mother nagging her. She adored her parents but sometimes they were a bit much. She would never be able to understand how her brother could put up with them as he did. The Princess allowed her eyes to close, content at the moment and feeling no danger around. She knew that if any of her family saw her, she would be in trouble. A Princess should never be out alone, they always told her. Why, she'd yet to understand. Adisa was allowed out alone..the only difference was that he was the future King.

Sticking to the Shadow Lands was what the once future queen of the pride lands did best. She was feared amongst those that lived neared the elephant graveyard. Her heart had been turned cold long ago. She had lost any kindness she'd once held. However, the young lioness had grown from a blossoming cub to a beautiful lioness, she was the kind of dark beauty that would make any male lion wonder who she was or where she'd come from. The cold lioness ruled over the hyena's they were faithful to her, never questioned her. She feed them and took care of them like she would a pride of lions.

The truth remained that without they would more then likely parish. It was clear she was powerful and although she wasn't ruling over a pride of lions, she was still clearly powerful. The lioness sat lazily upon a rock, her head rested on her crossed front paws, her long tail flicking absentmindedly behind her as she rested. She was fully aware of her surroundings even with her eyes closed. There was a soft breeze and she inhaled.

There were times when she missed the pride lands, she'd grown so lonely the hyena's were better soldier then companions. She missed Adisa, more then she was willing to admit to herself. She shook thoughts of him from her mind, she doubted her even remembered her. She felt the energy shift slightly and her body tensed, she lifted her head and her eyes burgundy eyes shifted cautiously. She stood to her feet just as one of her hyena's came into view.

"My queen there is an intruder, I believe it is the prince." the hyena's voice was a low deep tone. The prince Nylah before letting out a cruel laugh that made the hynea bow to her terrified of what she'd do.

"Please...what would that pampered brat be doing in my territory." she didn't believe it, there was no way Adisa or Aslan would dare step foot in the shadow lands least of all the grave yard. "Come Jabari, we shall see whom is disturbing our grounds." she spoke as she glided down from the rock two other hyena's joined them, like they'd been called, like Nylah's own personal escort. "However..." she breathed, her voice practically a growl as she paused to look Jabari in the eyes. "If this is nothing, I will have your head. That's a promise." she said before gesturing with her head for Jabari to lead her.

The Hyena lead her in the direction and soon enough she saw him. His pale fur was easy to spot, it was Adisa, but why was he this far out and alone? She thought. She crouched down low following behind him for a bit before deciding to attack. Her hyena's were given signal stay behind, unless she was harmed. She counted in her head one...two...three..., before leaping out and catching the male lion by surprise they tumbled a bit before she managed to pin him down roughly, showing her clear strength.

Aslan had awoken rather late like always. He tended to be rather lazy unless otherwise consulted. The male lion's pride always ran smoothly. When he awoke he starched and got breakfast, before playing with some of the cubs for a bit. He had a rather boring existence to say the least, nothing much happened in the wetlands, although it seemed to him that something knew was always happening near the pride lands. He'd meet Adisa once before, however their meeting was not on the best of terms, they didn't hate each other but they didn't exactly get along either of course Aslan had still been simply a prince then.

As of late, Aslan had been forced to stick around his pride. Hyena's had been running ramped the past few days and he knew it was Nylah. He'd rip her throat out if he had the chance. However, it was near impossible to get close to her, he could swear her hyena's were more loyal to her then his pride was to him. The thought irritated him, he didn't spend much time on the thought however. One of the females had warned him earlier that morning that hyena's had been spotted off a ways. Not that he was all that worried, he just warned the lionesses not to wander alone and not to let the cubs out of their sight.

Aslan decided to take a short walk, he honestly liked being alone sometimes, to forget about his responsibilities. He honestly didn't mind being the king, his biggest fear was simply failing his pride and that was the reason for him acting the way he did most the time, it wasn't that he didn't care. It was that he cared to much. The young king's mind had wondered to his deceased queen and cub and before he knew it he was lost in his thoughts.

he was unaware of how long he'd been walking aimlessly or how far he wandered, but by the time he came back to reality he was nearing a watering hole. He moved to the edge of the watering hole, lowering his head to drink from it when he spotted a young lioness whom he'd never seen before out of the corner of his eye. His head shot up and his eyes fell on her, she was beautiful, but what was she doing alone.

He quietly moved towards her before he spoke. "It is unsafe for you to be about these parts alone. he said in almost a know it all like voice. "Besides not to get all territorial and such...but technically, this is all mine." he gestured to the watering hole and then to the land behind him. "It is unsafe for you to be about these parts alone. his tone was more teasing and light.

He had remained rooted for a few long moments. Adisa knew that he should really leave, return to his father. However, something kept him there. He was unsure of what it was. It was..almost as if he was meant to be there. Suddenly, the wind was knocked out of him as Adisa found himself tumbling upon the ground for a moment before landing on his back rather roughly. He was quick to bare his teeth in defense, a low growl emitting from his throat.

As his eyes took in what had dared pounce him so. He allowed his face to relax, his teeth no longer showing as he realized that a lioness stood over him so. She looked..familiar to him and yet not. Recognition slowly found its way to his eyes. It simply couldn't be. Adisa had not seen her in so many long years. He'd given up any hope of ever doing so. "Nylah?" He asked, his eyes searching her own.

"How can this be? We thought you dead." His voice was soft though held the command of a king. It was clear from the look on his face that he truly had believed the female dead. Long gone from the world. He moved suddenly, gently pushing Nylah off of him. He rose, moving a few steps closer to her. His eyes regarded her, taking her in. She was not the same young cub that Adisa had been promised to all those years ago. She'd grown, become more beautiful as the years had passed.

"What are you doing here and not in the Pride Lands?" He asked her, his gaze ever steady. He did not understand why she would be so far from their home. He waited patiently for her to answer him. When she did speak, Adisa's face changed to one of slight annoyance. He moved, slowly circling her halfway before suddenly raising his head slightly. "So be it. If you do not wish to tell me that is your own business."

It was then that a echoing roar was heard. His father.. "I must go." He wanted anything other than to leave her there. "You could return with me, you know. Everyone would be most glad to see you alive."

The Princess heard the lion before he appeared. She should have left, returned to the Pride Lands immediately however she'd decided to simply wait. A few moments passed before he did appear, lowering his head to drink. It was then that he saw her. He rose, his eyes on her. Anaya had a small smile on her face as she watched him.

He moved towards her though Anaya remained where she was. "It is unsafe for you to be about these parts alone. Besides not to get all territorial and such...but technically, this is all mine It is unsafe for you to be about these parts alone. The male said. His voice was teasing. The Princess rose, speaking. "Is it that unsafe?" She asked him, moving slowly closer to him.

She moved in front of him and to his side slowly, her long tail coming up and gently rubbing against his chin teasingly. "You will forgive me, for I did not know that this watering hole belonged to any." Anaya was smiling at him. "I am Anaya, daughter of King Tabor. You are?" Her voice was like silk as she spoke. It was easy to see that
she held herself above others.

The Princess allowed the Lion to speak before she continued. "It is an honor to meet you, King Aslan." She said, bowing her head in respect to the King as she'd been taught. "Perhaps you would escort me back to the Pride Lands? My father would greatly appreciate it. There has been talk of Hyenas and though I can certainly take care of myself..two sets of eyes are always better than one."

She moved from Aslan's side then, slowly walking in the direction she needed to go in to return home. She knew that her brother had met Aslan before and that he'd not been impressed with the lion. However, Anaya found him intriguing. He seemed..different than most males she'd met before and it caused her to want to get to know him.

"Nylah?" he asked gently and she wore a cocky smirk on her face. She was older sure, but still just as rebellious as she'd been when she'd been a cub.

"You look like you've seen a ghost." She said not standing down from her position over him. She had not realized how much she'd missed him, until she was so close to him however she never faultered.

"How can this be? We thought you dead." his voice was soft however she did not answer. Did he really not know, had everyone just assumed she'd died in the stamped. Surely they knew the young, fisty cub Nylah had been would not have fallen so easily. "What are you doing here and not in the Pride Lands?" he asked almost demanding an answer but the pride lands were no longer her home.

"What does it matter to you why I have chosen this life?" she practically growled her eyes following him. "Too much time has passed for it to matter." she breathed standing her ground.

"So be it. If you do not wish to tell me that is your own business." he said clearly irritated. There was a loud echoing growl she recognized as Tabor, his father however she didn't even shutter. "I must go." he said and she watched him her hyena's slowly emerging from all around to box him in although he'd yet to notice. "You could return with me, you know. Everyone would be most glad to see you alive." he said trying to reason with her, but there was no reasoning with her, she was closed of now.

"Would they though?" she let out a cruel laugh, echoed by the eerie cackles of the hyena's. "Leaving so soon Adisa?" he purred circling him this time, like she intended to kill him. "You expect me to let you walk, but would you be so kind to my hyena's if they were to cross you in the pride lands." she hissed.

The hyena's closed in even closer making them self present and boxing in the future king. They were dark, savage like creatures and they were only made more savage by their power hungry lioness Queen. She paused in front of him as the hyena's laughing grew darkly eerie showing their loyalty to their queen and it was clear he was grossly out number.

"I will never return with you Adisa, my place is here. I hold no place in the pride lands. That was made perfectly clear to me years ago." she said holding her head up high. "And when you become King, I will never bow to you." she said holding his eyes, her head held high proving she was not afraid of him and she could stand alone.

Image

"Is it that unsafe?" she asked as she rose moving closer to him and he glanced around like he couldn't see the big deal it was just what he'd heard. The truth was though, for those who wondered to far in Nylah's direction it was deadly. She slowly walked around to his side bring her tail up and rubbing it gently along his chin and he smirked holding his head up a little higher. "You will forgive me, for I did not know that this watering hole belonged to any. I am Anaya, daughter of King Tabor. You are?"

Her voice was smooth, like a warm savannah breeze and he honestly hadn't realized that she'd asked him who he was because he'd been so taken by her voice and how beautiful she was. He'd simply guessed though and he'd heard her introduce herself.

"Anaya, what a lovely name. I am Aslan son of the late king Layth. King of the wetlands. he said gently bowing to her in a its-a-pleasure kind of way.

"It is an honor to meet you, King Aslan. Perhaps you would escort me back to the Pride Lands? My father would greatly appreciate it. There has been talk of Hyenas and though I can certainly take care of myself..two sets of eyes are always better than one." before he could answer she started walking in the direction of pride rock, he huffed a bit feeling lazy like always but following her.

"So tell me princess, do you seduce all male lions into walking you home? he teased lightly. [color=#00613A]"I'm not sure how fond your brother will be at my appearance, but I guess we shall see won't we?/color] he sighed.

"Would they though?" Nylah's laugh caused the Prince to look at her curiously. He'd never hear such a sound before coming from her. The sound of hyenas soon followed causing Adisa's form to suddenly tense. "Leaving so soon Adisa?" The female purred as she circled him, almost as if she meant to kill him. Adisa allowed his eyes and head to follow her as she moved, standing his ground. "You expect me to let you walk, but would you be so kind to my hyena's if they were to cross you in the pride lands."

"You know the answer to your question. Why bother asking it?" He said, his voice quickly becoming that which he'd become accustomed to using when dealing with those beneath him. He knew that the hyenas had him boxed in, that there was little chance that he was going to make it back to the Pride Lands in one piece. At last, Nylah came to stand before him and Adisa's gaze was guarded, cool. Almost as if the mere fact that he was outnumbered did not matter.

"I will never return with you Adisa, my place is here. I hold no place in the pride lands. That was made perfectly clear to me years ago. And when you become King, I will never bow to you." The female said, head raised high and proud. He regarded her for a short moment, his blue eyes taking her in. What he was about to say to her..it would forever cause a rift between them. Not that it mattered now, he supposed.

His head held just as high as Nylah's was. "So be it. Remain here, forever an outcast if that is what you wish." His tail twitched in agitation. "But know this. The words you speak are cause enough for your death should you ever return to the Pride Lands..should any find out about them." However, he would not speak of it to anyone. She had to know this. "Though, I would have you know..that I would never imagine you bowing to me nor would I ask it of you. However, it pains me to see you this way. How I would have liked to remember you the way you had been when we were children..though that is not possible."

It was then that he turned slightly, hearing his father's roar once again. He knew that it was only a matter of time before the older lion found him if he did not reappear. "Nylah, no longer are we connected as we once were. I am to be with Rahel before I am able to take the throne. How I would have liked it to have been you."

He paused, regarding her coolly. "It would be wise on your part to allow me to leave. My father will be here soon and there will be no turning back from this path." He did not want to fight the female that stood before him, that much was clear. However, he would if it came down to that.

"So tell me princess, do you seduce all male lions into walking you home? I'm not sure how fond your brother will be at my appearance, but I guess we shall see won't we?" Aslan said. Anaya threw the male lion a smile. "I do not think that I have seduced any lion that I am aware of." She laughed as she walked next to the male. "And do not worry about Adisa. He was out with my father when I left. It is possible that they've not made it back to Pride Rock yet. Either way, he would not dare cause a scene in front of the other lionesses."

She was fully aware that Adisa didn't care for the other ruling lion. "Though, I should very much like to know why my brother does not like you. Adisais not one to simply dislike someone for no reason. Did you perhaps do something to cause his anger?"

Anaya still retained the smile on her face. She rather enjoyed the lion's company and honestly couldn't see Adisa disliking Aslan..though..the simple sight of seeing them together would certainly do it. She had met a few other lions that had ventured through their lands before and even her father had not liked her wandering off with them. "Will your Queen not miss you, Aslan? I would imagine that she would not take kindly to you escorting any female alone."

The Princess knew nothing of Aslan's family life though nearly all ruling lions had a Queen. It was simply the way their world worked. To rule without a Queen was a feat in itself. She simply didn't understand how a lion could handle it. To have no one to stand by their side through everything..and to oversee the pride when the King was away..how would a pride survive?

The king spoke unkindly to her but she did not falter. She stood proud as if she was the Queen of the lions, despite how badly his words hurt her. He spoke to her telling her he did not expect her to bow to him and she let out a small scoff. She doubted that, once he became king he’d be a completely different lion, entitled. She knew firsthand how power changed a lion or corrupted them for that matter. She head the roar of Adisa’s father yet again.

"Nylah, no longer are we connected as we once were. I am to be with Rahel before I am able to take the throne. How I would have liked it to have been you." She wanted to look away from him, her hyenas letting out a dangerously low growl as if they could feel that their Qeen had been pained by his cruel words. He paused and she watched his eyes as they regarded her casually. "It would be wise on your part to allow me to leave. My father will be here soon and there will be no turning back from this path." He wasn’t standing down but he wasn’t trying to fight her either.

She watched him for a moment before she spoke again only this time her words were much more solemn. “It will never be as it once was Adisa.” she said honestly. “There is corruption in your perfect pride among those you entrust.” he held his eyes. “You are sadly mistaken if you think I would have merely taken off when I was a cub.”

She let out a loud roar then, as if calling off her hyenas and they scattered almost as quickly as they had appeared. Within seconds she was alone with the king. She turned form him then and started back deep into the elephant graveyard disappearing from sight.

Image

He listened to her as she spoke of how her brother should not cause a scene. He was distracted however by how beautiful she was. He hadn’t really taken much interest in any lioness since his queen and his cub had been murdered by Nyla in fact he didn’t even think about it much, because he didn’t want to be reminded of his past.

"Though, I should very much like to know why my brother does not like you. Adisa's not one to simply dislike someone for no reason. Did you perhaps do something to cause his anger?" she spoke pulling him from his thoughts and he didn’t speak yet because he was trying to think over in his head what he might of done but he was pretty sure he’d done nothing. "Will your Queen not miss you, Aslan? I would imagine that she would not take kindly to you escorting any female alone." she asked and he knew it was a question that was meant to come up.

He was quite for a long moment as they continued to walk, before he finally spoke. ” I’m pretty sure your brother just thinks I’m lazy, we keep the peace well between our two prides, we just have never really gotten along.” He said honestly trying to avoid her other question before sighing and figuring that she’d just ask again if he didn’t tell her. “No, she won’t mind.” he answered simply. “She’s not really with me any longer.” he admitted with a defeated sigh.

In all honesty Aslan had once been strong and prideful, but after Nyla had taken his family from him he was never quite the same. He was still mourning over the loss, he just tended to ignore that it had ever happened because thinking about it was far too painful. He was sure the entire savannah had known what happened, but he was wrong.

“It will never be as it once was Adisa. There is corruption in your perfect pride among those you entrust. You are sadly mistaken if you think I would have merely taken off when I was a cub.” Nylah said. Her words caused the Prince to falter. Could there be truth to what she was saying? The female roared, the hyenas scattering quickly and leaving Adisa alone with the other lion. However, she turned, and began heading back into the graveyard, disappearing from his sight. He remained rooted for a moment longer before finally turning and heading back in the direction he'd taken earlier.

Adisa knew that he had much to think on. If what Nylah had said was true, then someone had been the cause of her disappearance all those years ago. He was unsure of how long he'd walked before he came upon his father "Adisa..I was beginning to worry. What kept you?" His father asked. Adisa sighed silently before he answered. "I'm sorry, father. I..ran into a few hyenas though they were dealt with."

"Then let us return to Pride Rock. We've been gone for some time and I imagine that your mother and sister are worrying for us." The younger lion simply nodded, his father turning and then walking. Adisa fell into step behind the King. He wished so badly that Nylah had returned with him. It was tearing at his heart..having to leave her in such a place. However, it had been clear to him that she'd been there for some time. She had to of been to have gained such control over the hyenas. He didn't know what he was going to do. He needed to inform his father of what he'd discovered but he couldn't bring himself to.

Their journey back to Pride Rock was uneventful. Something that Adisa was grateful for. Together the King and Prince made their way up, joining the Queen. "I'm so glad that the two of you have returned. Have..you perhaps seen Anaya? She went off this morning and has not returned." Neither of the male lions had seen her. Adisa turned his head, looking out across their lands. It was then that he spotted her...walking with Aslan. Why was his sister with the other lion King? "I see her..I'll take care of it." He said, quickly making his way down the rock and meeting them.

Anaya allowed her gaze to continue to look ahead even as the obvious silence stretched for a bit before Aslan finally answered her. ” I’m pretty sure your brother just thinks I’m lazy, we keep the peace well between our two prides, we just have never really gotten along.” Anaya nodded, still waiting for an answer to her other question. He sighed, speaking again. “No, she won’t mind. She’s not really with me any longer.”

The Princess felt badly for asking such a question. Her parents nor Adisa spoke much of Aslan or his pride. "I'm sorry. I did not mean to bring up such a thing that so clearly bothers you." She fell silent, continuing their walk. It didn't take much longer before they'd arrived at the base of Pride Rock. She turned her gaze back to Aslan, smiling. "I think that it is admirable that you continue to rule over your pride. Not everyone would have done so." She said kindly.

It was then that Adisa suddenly appeared. The male lion's gaze was on the pair that had come to a stop and were standing close. "Aslan..it is a surprise to see you here..and with my sister." It was easy for Anaya to see that her brother was annoyed at seeing the other male lion though she did not know why. "Adisa, Aslan escorted me back home for I had wandered too far. It is my fault that he is here."

The Prince seemed to think over her words for a moment before he continued. "Ah...sister, you should know better than to wander so during such a time. You will join Mother and Father. I wish to speak with Aslan." Anaya had wanted to object but she knew better than to do so. Adisa was her future king and it would not sit well to disobey him. She turned her gaze back to Aslan, smiling. Though she had to leave..that didn't mean that she couldn't speak her mind. "Have a safe journey home, your majesty. I do hope that our paths cross again." She was nearly tempted to tease him again, just to bother Adisa. However, she did not. The Princess turned, walking slowly as she made her way to join the rest of her family.
