General Knowledge

Full Name:
Dorthy Marie Simmons

Dot or Dottie, but never Dorthy.. unless she's in trouble.

November 7th, 1995

Sexual Orientation:

Intern at Teen Magazine and part time maid for Mr. Lee's hotel and part-time student at NYU for photography. (She's a scholarship kid)

Things You Want To Know

Hair Color: Chocolate brown.

Eye Color: Dark chocolate brown.

Height: Five feet, four inches.

Weight: Skinny. Member of the itty-bitty-titty-committy.

Dot one has one tattoo, and it's just below her bellybutton. It's done in white ink and hardly noticeable unless you're close to her.

Only her ears and only once.

Looking at her you wouldn't see many. Maybe a few light scars here or there, you know.. the standard child-hood scars. Falling from a tree when she was seven, falling down the stairs when she was ten, bumping her head on a low-hanging object when she was fourteen... the usual.

Character Color:#E4287C

Description: Dottie is a woman of average height. Literally. She's not tall enough to be considered 'tall', and she's not short enough to be considered 'short'. She's just... average; like pretty much everything else about her appearance. She's never in the latest fashion, but rather can be seen sporting concocted outfits from the closest four thrift stores, or items cut and sewn together from last years outfits. Her favorite accessory is her camera, of which she is almost never without. Her hair is a deep chocolate and oak-tree brown. Her eyes are dark and large, like a frightened doe. She is almost always in pants or shorts, and when she's not she's in a modest skirt or dress, with length down to her mid-thigh are longer. She's a total klutz, so high heels are not her thing. Neither are hoop earrings, or earrings that dangle at all; instead, she prefers simple studs..

For Better Or For Worse

{Artistic, Dorky, Reserved, Intelligent, Restless, Straightforward}
Dot is your average American girl. She has a large net of friends, mostly fellow Game of Thrones and Supernatural enthusiasts, so I guess you wouldn't call her antisocial. She's a bit of a closet goofball. On the job she has a great game-face. She takes her photography gravely serious. She has an artist's eye for things, and not just pictures but also fashion, makeup and other designs. Where a 'normal' person might see an empty warehouse, she sees a playground of endless possibilities. Speaking of playgrounds, I wouldn't call her childish, but you might call her sheltered. She's a little reserved when it comes to meeting new people, opening up to people, trusting people, and trying new things. She's a worrier. She'll work herself into a panic attack over getting the boss the wrong type of coffee. She has a deep rooted moral code, seeing everything in black and white. Not literally, of course, she's not colorblind. Rather, she sees things as either right or wrong, and there's not a lot of middle-ground. She's very headstrong in her personal beliefs, and she's the type to argue until her face turns a frightening shade of red over which superhero would win out over the other (she's team Loki, by the way).

As if the fact that she's a total geek didn't give the first clue, she's kind of brilliant. You can imagine the disappointment her parents went through when they found out that their 4.0 honors student wanted to go to college for photography. Dottie just isn't the desk type. She's never been good at repetitive work, especially desk work. In a word, I'd describe her as restless. Her friends see it, but don't comment on it much. It seems like she's in a constant state of go. If she's running from something, no one is really sure what it is. That aside, she's an incredibly straightforward individual. The type of friend to call you out on an outfit that should have been burned in the 90s, or those questionable texts from last night. She says exactly what's she's thinking before she actually thinks about it. It's gotten her fired from a few jobs before. Who knew that telling the bride she looked like a beached whale was a terrible idea? Oops. Additionally, I wouldn't call her a hypocrite, but she's a bit of a space cadet. She's for so many causes that she doesn't really devote herself to any particular one. This week it might be save the whales, and next week it might be vegan, and still the next week it might be gay rights. Like I mentioned; she likes to stay busy, even if what she's getting involved in seems a little strange to those around her. That being said, if something starts to become a fad- she doesn't want any part of it. At least, not openly. She's a tumblr addict, a convention frequenter, part-time activist, and most importantly; aspiring photographer.

Remembering The Past

Dottie grew up in the shadow of the stars. She is a NYC native, coming into the world of bright lights and cameras, where everything is for sale if you have enough money. Her father was preacher and her mother was a Sunday school teacher. Dot grew up in a large two-story home in a moderate suburban neighborhood, where all the houses and yards look identical. The rest, is better left for her to tell you...

"I lived in the same house for as long as I can remember. My first memory is learning to ride my bike outside in the driveway. I didn't notice then that I had been born into a cookie-cutter world. A world where you're either type A, or sent to a mental or rehab facility. As the preachers daughter, I saw plenty of both. I had a decent childhood. I mean, I had two great parents, a nice house, good grades... Things were great. Then I started high school. I had begged for years to leave the private school my parents paid so much for, and for high school they finally agreed. I guess you could say I got what I asked for."

She was, as the seniors like to say, "fresh meat". It didn't take the preachers daughter long to fall into that stereotype of good-girl gone wrong.

"I was a 'late bloomer', I guess. Anyway, it didn't last long because the church got shut down due to some chemical issue. Something in the roofing, or walls or... I don't know. All I knew was that it was my senior year and we were moving. To the city. Goodbye neat-cut suburban lawn. Hello tiny two-bedroom apartment on the wrong side of the tracks, where you have to listen to cats, whores, thugs and sirens all night. Half the time the electricity doesn't work."

The new apartment would be where she would spend the rest of her teenage years and begin her adult life. She would graduate from high school with a 4.0 with honors. She had plenty of friends, some of which followed her to college where she would begin her study of photography. By a stroke of pure luck, she managed to land a job at the local teen magazine. She'd start by fetching coffee and work her way up to writing articles and taking pictures. Her father passed away a few weeks after she turned 16, leaving just her and her mom. She took a second job at one of the fancy hotels near the house. It was within biking distance, so not too bad of a gig so long as she didn't have to work nights. She even managed to get her mother on with a job there. She was forced to drop down to part time in college, so that she could keep both jobs and support her mother.

It was just her luck that she'd be scheduled to work right when the management switched over to the new boss. Mr. Lee the higher-ups called him. She didn't know him personally, and probably never would honestly. She was just a maid. There to get in, clean, and get out. That was exactly what she planned to do... until she got assigned to the penthouse to help the older maids with the large guest party. A bunch of rich brats from Beverly Hills were going to be staying over Christmas so everyone would need to be in overtime and work the holiday.

It was going to be a real merry f*ckin' Christmas for Dottie.

Theme Song

Isis | Goo Goo Dolls

And I'd give up forever to touch you
'Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't wanna go home right now

And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
When sooner or later it's over
I just don't wanna miss you tonight

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
Yeah, you bleed just to know you're alive

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
