Personality
Independent - Empathetic - Enigmatic || Callous - Sarcastic - Impious
Marie has learned from a young age to be independent. She was always on her own for a lot of things and if she had a problem she couldn't go to her parents for much. She finds that being independent and being able to problem solve on her own was a much better solution. She works very well on her own and prefers it that way. She is one of those people who can actually be quite selfish in her actions and she will do what she wants and not even think twice about someone else. She plays the game to work in her benefits about eighty percent of the time not even trying to help another.

The other twenty percent of the time, she wishes she could help others, due to her empathetic nature. It is very easy for her to soak of the emotions of other people around her and take them in. She honestly feels for them and she would give if she had the things necessary to give, but in the cruel world that they all live in, she really does just play to her own strengths. Marie sometimes stays up at night thinking about how someones day could be going. She has seen multiple people out on the streets and she has always wanted to help them, as she has been in that position herself, but there's nothing she can do. Marie can walk into a room happy, but if she picks up on other feelings she ends up feeling that too.

Her ability to feel emotions has made her realize how weak she can get though. This is why she is quite callous. Marie now just has no desire to be kind to others out of her own will. She has been fucked over multiple times before and she refuses to be played like a fiddle again. She is closed off with others knowing her emotions. She will not leave herself open for people to come in and intercept how she's going about life. This can lead to her being quite the bitch to you if you pry. It takes awhile to prove your worth and trust to her.

Due to Marie not openly sharing her feelings, this can lead to her being quite enigmatic. She doesn't let people know her and get to know patterns of her life. She loves to stay as a mystery. Her main goal is to keep you guessing through out life so you can't find her weakness. She practically wears a mask, but somewhere under there is the real Marie that has been waiting for someone to break the code and break the wall she has put up. She has yet to find anyone who could figure her out or pin her down. She is the master of deception. Others used to play her, but her broken soul has seemed to taken on the form of her enemies now.

Likes
Baileys This is the one drink that she uses has a hangover cure. Just get drunk again. What better way to do that than put some baileys in your coffee. It works when you take a flask to the coffee shop you work in and you just pour it into your drink in the bathroom. Besides that her employer doesn't really seem to care anyways. Sex Marie lost her virginity at the age of thirteen. Ever since then she has been sexually active and she rather enjoys herself. Although over the years she's found she's not that attracted to males, but in her job she doesn't always get to choose who she sleeps with, so she has to find some way to enjoy it. Running Keeping active is probably something that is important to Marie. She doesn't eat the healthiest so going for a run often helps her maintain the body she has. Not only does it help her physically, but it helps her mentally. If she is having a bad day a run is usually a good fix for her. Reading This isn't something you would think that Marie does. Most people think especially at both places that she works, that she's too dumb to read. It's actually quite the opposite. Marie loves to read she just can't always afford books when she has to pay bills all the time. She usually takes the little tip money from the coffee shop that she gets and puts it towards some really cheap second hand books. Something is better than nothing.

Dislikes
Hangovers It's no secret that Marie likes to drink. However that would also mean it is no secret that she dislikes being hungover. She hates feeling sick and laying on the bathroom floor after a night of fun and good drinking. Usually she drinks to forget, which has probably led to an alcohol problem, which is bad because she can't afford an alcohol addiction, but it's stuck to her by now. People People are the absolute worst. She can't stand them. They lie, deceive, manipulate and make you trust them. Marie has high defense around people and often times doesn't trust anyone. People suck hardcore, and she refuses to be used again. Bad HygieneThis is quite important for Marie. If someone smells she doesn't want to be near you. She would ask you to go spray yourself with body spray or put deodorant on. She's also not keen on sleeping with someone if they aren't cleaning their bits and pieces. Marie hates that in her one job, it makes it difficult to do her job effectively. Just have a shower, it isn't difficult. Flowers You better not shove flowers in her face. Marie will be absolutely pissed and she'll throw them back at you. Marie is allergic to pollen, and being allergic to pollen is the absolute worst. Especially if it gets real bad and her eyes start to water and hurt, and her nose all runny. No one is attractive with snot hanging from their face.

Job
Waitress at a coffee shop and actress in low budgeted porn films.

Hometown
Chicago, Illinois.

Background
Neil Hawthorne is a stern business man. He owns a multimillionaire company and is well known in the Chicago area. He was always rough and strict with everything in life and he didn't have one fun bone in his body once he became twenty five. Before that were his wild years that he has paid to go away. Neil married a woman who he had five children with, although eventually she passed away and he was left with these five children. Neil didn't want to have these five children on his own so he kept his eldest son Thomas and his eldest daughter Eden. The rest he put up for adoption not wanting to take care of them. George and Jason were both adopted to Elisa and Vern Keating, who were a well off couple. Unfortunately that left Elizabeth the youngest to be adopted by Brian and Emily Casanova.

Elizabeth ended up with no other siblings around her, as Emily was unable to have children of her own. She grew up in a low income part of Chicago, where break ins were frequent, and people shooting heroin in the alley ways was something that usually happened. It wasn't the best upbringing that there was. Elizabeth ended up attending an underfunded school, where the teachers didn't care about the students and only cared about the money. She was a bright young student throughout elementary school, but things began to change in her home life.

The apartment she had stayed in with her mother and father, had been broken into when she was at school and her mother was at work. Her father had been home sick for the day. The apartment had been broken into and their valuables were stolen and her father was found with his back up against the wall, and eyes wide open, blood rolling down his face from the gun shot wound in his head. Elizabeth had never seen it, but they moved away from the area and into another one. One that wasn't as bad, but it was a one bedroom apartment and Elizabeth was given no room. She had to sleep on the floor in the back corner of the living room.

Her home life only went down from there. Her mother became an alcoholic and started to become abusive verbally and physically. Her grades had stayed up at the start of high school and she had a solid GPA, but soon she couldn't manage it anymore. She slowly turned to the wrong crowd though. She got into the theatre area of her school, and she acted, but the people she was with in theatre were party animals. Often times they were sneaking into clubs, and that was when she started to get a feel for the party life. Often times she'd go home with these older guys and sleep with them, and wake up in the afternoon.

At one point when she was sixteen she had saved money from the odd jobs she did prior. Baby sitting for the next door neighbour, selling drugs momentarily inside the high school for her boyfriend at the time. At sixteen she had a job as a waitress. Every night she came home, her mother would yell at her telling her to go back to school, and to stop being a dumb ass, often throwing empty beer bottles at her. Luckily after one hit her, the pain was enough of a reminder to get out of the way.

Finally at seventeen, she decided to pursue her dream of being an actress, and she funded herself bus tickets to get herself to New York. It was difficult making a living, but she slowly began to save up money from a job. However she was stuck living on the streets here and there, and if she needed a shower she would hit up a club and find a guy to go home with and shower at his place.

Hitting the age of nineteen she found a role opening. However when she got there, she hadn't realized it was for porn. However she knew some acting was better than none. She tried out, and got in. Unfortunately this was only low budgeted porn films, so she didn't get paid a lot. Eventually things fell a little bit into place and she is now renting an apartment with three other girls, and has another job working as a waitress at a coffee shop. Sometimes she gets upset with her life, but she remembers the one she left and she has no regrets.

Upon moving to New York she goes by her middle name Marie.

Even though she had lived in New York for all of her life, Makayla had never been to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade before. Obviously, growing up, her family was never actually family-oriented, so the idea of them making the trip into Manhattan to see the floats was laughable. Even as a teenager, though, she never went, and last year, she didn't even think of it in time to bring Holly to it. This year, she took advantage of the festivities and decided to go see it with her sister. Honestly, she didn't do it for herself as much as she did it for Holly. Anything new to distract her and keep her occupied was worth trying out, and even though it was only eight in the morning when she and Holly headed out, Makayla was already ready to crawl back into bed, so she opted to walk the hour-long trek uptown, rather than take a cab. She hoped walking there and back would tire out her sister, who was always bursting with energy. Plus, Makayla knew the cab fares would be substantially greater on a busy day like today, and she didn't have money to throw away like that.

By the time they reached the parade area, the streets were so packed that they could barely get a glimpse of the floats passing. Luckily, Holly didn't seem bothered by it, and Makayla was happy enough that the girl managed to remain content with standing on a corner and essentially staring at the back of people's heads for forty minutes before growing antsy, giving Makayla the signal that it was time to head back home. To many, spending over two hours total commuting to and from the parade, for a lackluster view would seem pointless, but it was free, and Makayla tried to take advantage of as many free activities as she could with Holly. It was essential to keep her moving and out of the apartment, or else everyone would go crazy, Makayla included.

"Can we get brunch today?" Holly asked, noticing a sign outside of a small cafe a block away from their building that was advertising brunch specials. "Since we didn't have breakfast or lunch yet, we can combine it into one."

Leave it to Holly to try to turn a trip that was supposed to be free, into one that would cost Makayla good money that she didn't have. She and Holly never ate out at restaurants. Cara would take her sometimes, and sometimes Chanel would insist on a lunch out, but it just wasn't something that Makayla could afford, and she hated feeling like charity. It was one thing for someone to treat Holly, but Makayla stuck to the food that her food stamps could buy, or fast food if she needed something on the go. "We can have brunch at home. I bought you that cereal you said you wanted yesterday, remember?"

"You're not supposed to have cereal on Thanksgiving, Kay! That's not something pilgrims would eat." Mimosas and fancy omelettes probably weren't served at the first Thanksgiving either, but cereal didn't sound exciting or festive.

"We're eating our Thanksgiving meal tonight, remember? Cara invited us over, so we'll have food pilgrims would eat then. And you told her you would make cupcakes, right? So we need to get back home to work on those." At first, Makayla had wanted to smack Holly when her sister volunteered that they would bring cupcakes. Knowing Cara, she would expect some organic, gluten free, thirty dollar box of cupcakes from some bakery in the Upper East Side, and frankly, Makayla didn't have the money for that. She knew she couldn't complain, since she was going to get a free meal (and hopefully, lots of free booze) out of the evening, but she still couldn't toss money to the wind like that. However, Holly insisted that they make the cupcakes, and Makayla could deal with that. She had already borrowed the baking materials from Cara the night before, had spent five dollars on the cake batter and icing, and had the eggs and other needed ingredients in their kitchen. Not only was it an affordable option, but one that would again keep Holly busy, and one that Cara couldn't complain about, because it just seemed like Holly wanted to bake, not that Makayla was being cheap.

"I wish that you got the vanilla and chocolate frosting, Kay. I think Nick would like chocolate more than vanilla," Holly stated as she followed Makayla inside of their building. The thought of a fancy brunch was out of her mind now, as baking cupcakes did sound far more interested. She was excited for Thanksgiving at Cara's, especially since it was going to be the first real Thanksgiving she would ever have. Or the closest thing to a real Thanksgiving, since this was last minute too.

"He'll get over it," Makayla insisted, nudging Holly to walk faster up the stairs. After that walk, the five flights up really had Makayla wanting to crawl into bed again, but it was only eleven o'clock, and she knew she couldn't do that for at least another twelve hours. "Put your jacket in the closet and then we'll have cereal, and then work on those cupcakes," Makayla instructed as she set her bag down in the kitchen of the apartment. She wasn't sure if Marie or Chanel were home, but she was curious as to whether they were coming to Cara's too or not. She wouldn't have been surprised if they weren't. Though she knew little about their pasts and family lives, she always felt like people's lives had to be more normal than hers.

“Here, put this on,” a shirt was tossed back and with a quick, swift motion of his arm, Oliver caught the shirt that Collin had tossed him. “Is this really necessary?” Oliver whined behind him. Collin turned his attention away from his closet and towards Oliver, who was sitting on the edge of his own bed. “Yes Oli, my parents will be here any minute and the last thing I need is for you to be looking like you just came in off the streets.” Collin turned back into his closet, his voice mildly muffled by being turned away from Oliver. He continued to talk to Oliver while rummaging through hangers of clothes. “Believe me, my parents will be happy to see you trying. Besides, you rarely ever get dressed up. It’s time you look like a man.” Oliver groaned and swung his head back, landing just under his pillow.

Collin turned to see his friend and roommate laid across his bed, rubbing his hands over his face while muttering something just under his breath. Collin walked over to him, holding another button up shirt, and sat down beside him. He looked down at the shirt in his hands and played with a loose thread while talking. “Listen, if you don’t want to see my family that’s fine bro. I just figured with your parents not coming to visit, the least I could do was make sure you weren’t stuck here along on Thanksgiving day, you know?” Collin turned his head to look over his shoulder at his friend who had been quiet. “Come on, Oli. You don’t have to dress super nice, man. Just wear something that you’ll be comfortable in that looks nice. Join me today, would ya? I’d hate to see your day go to waste.” Oliver sat up, leaning himself against his elbows and forearms. He looked at Collin and with a shy smile, he nodded. “Fine, I’ll join your family. But listen, I’m not wearing any of your weird silk shirts.” The two laughed together. Collin playfully pushed Oliver over and went back to rummage into his closet. “Fine, but you’re wearing something nice.” Oliver sat up, then pulled himself off the bed. “Alright, alright. Lay something out, I’m going to jump in the shower before Isaac gets in there.” Oliver walked out of the room and down the hall to the bathroom as Collin continued to look for clothing for himself and for Oliver. Once Collin had picked out an outfit for himself to wear, he looked for one for Oliver. Collin had picked himself a simple gray suit to wear with a black tie over a white dress shirt. For Oliver, he kept it just as simple, with a black blazer and pant combo with a simple white dress shirt.

The shower was Oliver’s favorite place in the apartment. He had a few favorite places to go and hide away from the real world but he truly loved the shower because to him, it was the most productive hiding spot. No one bothered him in the shower, and in the meantime, he’d get clean and create lists in his head for every aspect of his life. The shower was his thinking space as well as a hiding space. As the hot water beat down on his back, he couldn’t help but think about his family and the fact that they weren’t coming to visit. He knew his parents were separated but to not be able to spend one day together so that you can spend time with your son, he just didn’t understand. It was enough to bring an empty feeling to his gut. He was appreciative of Collin and the fact that he offered up his family for him to spend time with, which he was planning on doing, but it still made him upset that he wasn’t going to see his family on Thanksgiving. At this point, however, there was nothing that Oliver could do anymore. He tried to convince his parents to come for just a few hours, but neither of the two would budge. The issue was either money or the other parents. Regardless, Oliver was enraged at both of his parents. Midway through his shower, Collin banged on the door, “Ollie, let’s go! Get moving!” Oliver rolled his eyes, rinsed his body one last time, and turned the water off. He wrapped himself in a towel, and opened the door to see Collin smiling. “Let’s go princess, they’re on their way here from the airport now.”

While Collin waited for his family to arrive and for Oliver to get dressed, he got together all the final details of what his day would consist of. He walked over to Isaac’s bedroom door, which was shut, and knocked on it. He spoke through the door before awaiting a response. “Isaac, you better be getting ready in there. My family is almost here, and I know you’re not skipping out on us. Get your ass up.” He banged on the door a few times, loudly, to make sure that Isaac was awake. He walked away while removing his phone from his pocket. He sent out a text to Isaac, in case he hadn’t heard what Collin yelled through the door; to Marie, to ask if she was still coming over; and finally, he texted his mom to catch a status of their location and arrival time.

To: Isaac
bro, you better be up. Momma King will not be happy to hear you’re not joining.

To: Marie

To: Momma King

It was the day of thanks giving and all she knew was that Cara was hosting something. Collin had invited her over to meet his parents. Marie didn't really question it too much although she had forgotten all about it when she had gone out late to the bar alone. Well to be fair it was a lesbian bar, and she couldn't exactly take her usual bar hopping buddy known as Collin. Marie had stayed up late dancing in the bar with some smoking hot girls, that she so badly wanted to take home with her, however it was them that took her home. Marie ended up at their place, as they were lovers apparently looking for a third and Marie wasn't going to complain.

The whole night they fed each other more liquor and got more and more frisky as the night went on. One thing led to the other, and Marie had really enjoyed her night. It had been awhile since she enjoyed the touch of a woman. Last woman she had slept with was actually Makayla a couple weeks back, but they were so drunk and Marie just wasn't sure where they stood. Besides the fact it was difficult for Marie to do the whole commitment thing. She has never been able to do it as she has a hard time trusting, so she keeps things purely physical.

It's not that Marie doesn't want anything more, it is just that she has never been able to open herself up like that and trust another human being in that way. She is terrified of someone breaking her trust. Most people don't even know her real first name, but she'd prefer to keep it that way.

It was when she heard her phone go off in the morning that she groaned. It was far too early to get up at eleven and her headache was severe. Marie was laying on the left side of the bed, still naked from the night before. She looked over to see the two hot chicks she had gotten with last night and smirked at her success, they were still sleeping which was good. Grabbing her phone, she swiped the notification away not reading it, and then pulled out her camera to take a picture, for bragging rights. Sometimes no one would believe her if she mentioned she had slept with two amazing girls.

Soon enough her phone went off again. "Fucking hell." She muttered and noticed that this time it was a text from Collin. Her eyes glanced over it and she groaned. She had set a reminder on her phone, which was likely the notification that woke her up in the morning to begin with, but none the less she forgot all about meeting Collin's parents. "Shit." She frantically looked around, they were still asleep. Silencing her phone she got out of the bed and searched for her clothes.

Was this even her bra? Marie didn't care. She put on the bra and it seemed to fit regardless. One of them was about her size and a pleasurable size at that. Marie also grabbed her jeans slipping them on and a tank top. She knew she couldn't go and meet his parents still drunk or hung over, whatever you called this state, so she walked to the kitchen. Looking around she found the alcohol cupboard and she rummaged through it finding her favourite drink, baileys. Digging into her pocket she pulled out ten dollars and put it down under the bottle after she put some in a flask.

With that she grabbed a pair of sunglasses, that weren't hers and she put them on. Finger combing her hair she slipped on her ankle boots and she walked out of the nice looking house. Taking the subway she ended up near her apartment. First things first she needed coffee to go with this baileys.

Ordering a coffee with one cream and one sugar she made sure her co-worker, Jess added an espresso shot to it. Walking out of the coffee shop she poured the baileys in and walked across the street.

She pulled out her phone and sent a quick text to Collin,

To:Collin
"Be there in two minutes top."

With that she walked into her apartment building and began to get up to the floor she lived on. Upon getting there she found the one titled "5A" and she knocked once and opened the door. She didn't see his rents there yet, "I'm here!" She exclaimed as she sat down on the couch taking a sip of her coffee.

Oliver walked, towel around waist, from the bathroom to his bedroom while Collin worked on getting everyone who needed to be present….well, present. He closed and locked the door behind him, tossed his clothes in a hamper in the corner of the room, and worked his way over his bed where the clothes that Collin had laid out for him were spread out. He looked at the clothes and couldn’t decide whether or not he would look good in them. He was partially sure he would because Collin had picked them out from his own closet but the other half of him was skeptical because Oliver and Collin were very different people with different styles and body shapes. Perhaps, however, it wasn’t the clothes that made him uncomfortable but the fact that he’d had to put on a happy face for everyone when in reality he felt like just crawling into bed and laying there until earth stopped rotating. He felt miserable. To Oliver, he was the reason was his parents split and now that all these family oriented holidays are approaching and the last people he’s spending time with is his family, it made him feel as though his family was permanently torn apart – and it was all his fault. Oliver shook the idea out of his head and sighed, telling himself that he was going to pretend to be happy until he was. “Fake it ‘til you make it, right?” He mumbled to himself. Oliver dressed and took a peek in the mirror Collin had hung on the back of the door. And much to Oliver’s dismay, he looked well put together.

Once Oliver had finished dressing himself, he started his way towards the kitchen. Opening the door to the hallway, he could see and hear Collin banging on the door to Isaac’s room. Oliver chuckled quietly to himself and continued to the kitchen to pour himself some juice and eat a snack. Collin followed to the same path, stopping just short of the kitchen. Collin frantically texted everyone while Oliver calmly sat himself on the couch with a cup of orange juice and a box of Frosted Flakes. “You’re gonna get carpel tunnel texting like that dude,” Oliver joked while inserting a handful of cereal into his mouth. Without taking his eyes off his phone Collin extended his arm towards Oliver, flipping him the bird. Oliver could only smile in amusement. Without so much as a second passing Isaac was out of his room and messing with Collin as well. ”Hey Jude” was all that was needed from Isaac to send Collin’s eyes darting from his phone down the other side of the hall. Isaac meant it all in good fun, especially when he shot Collin a grin and the finger. “So we’re all gonna be fucks today?” Collin said jokingly, but loud enough for Isaac to hear as he moved into the bathroom. “We just want to be more like you,” Oliver joked, which Collin glanced towards Oliver mockingly for.

“Dude, relax. You’re really uptight right now. You’re acting like me.” It was interesting for Oliver to see Collin this way. Collin was usually the type of guy to be very relaxed about everything, he didn’t let most things bother him the same Oliver did. So to see Collin running around the apartment as though the world just caught on fire was strange for Oliver. “Yeah…” Collin sighed and sat beside Oliver on the couch, throwing his feet onto the coffee table. “It’s just that my dad is coming and he can sometimes be a dick about things so I always have to just stay on my toes with him. He doesn’t like that I moved out here and thinks that my life is going to shit pretty much so I need to be able to impress him so that he doesn’t try to, like, kidnap me back home or whatever. I need him to see that my life is put together, you know?” Collin turned his attention to Oliver from where it was fixated on the wall. Oliver nodded, he knew exactly what it was like to feel as though you were a huge disappointment. “Don’t worry though. You’ll be fine. You are the King after all.” Oliver smiled warmly at Collin. “Yeah… Thanks man.” Collin smiled back.

Collin and Oliver sat on the couch together, waiting for the Kings, Marie, and for Isaac to finish getting dressed. While on the couch, Oliver received a text. He pulled his phone from his pocket to see that the text was from a friend of his, Ryan, who lived in 5C just across the hall. He typed back:

To: Ryan
Collin’s parents are comin’ over. We’re probably going to lunch with them then coming back here and chillin for dinner. What’re you up to today?

He slipped his phone back into his pocket. Collin questioned him on what was up while he read his own text coming from Marie. “Oh, it was just Ryan from 5C. Wanted to know what our plans were for Turkey Day.” Collin nodded, only half listening to what Oliver said. Collin’s phone buzzed again, while in his hand, this time with a text from his mother.

From: Momma King
Two blocks away, Collie xoxo

“Ah, fucking hell. They’re nearly here.” Collin sprang up from his seat, just as Isaac walked into the room asking where his parents were. “Two blocks away. If you’re not ready, get ready.” Collin rushed from the room to find his shoes and his coat. “Someone call Marie and ask her where the hell she is!” Collin yelled from the inside of the closet in his room, barely audible. Just then, Marie came bursting through the door like the personality she was and sat herself onto the couch where Oliver and Collin had just been sitting while shouting her presence known. Oliver, who was following Collin into the room, replied back to Collin. “She just walked through the door.”

* * *

Collin and Oliver joined the rest of the group out in the living room as Collin’s parents approached. Everyone stood around making small talk while Collin went downstairs to greet his parents and his brother.

“Hey mom. Dad. Seth,” Collin smiled as the three got out of the taxi.

“Hi honey,” Collin’s mother walked to him with arms spread to greet him with a hug. He returned the favor and pulled away to say hi to his brother and father, who he too hugged.

“You guys ready to come upstairs?” His parents exchanged looks, which Collin noticed. “What? What’s wrong?”

“Did I not tell you?”

“Tell me what?”

“Honey, we’re not staying. We told Uncle Paul that we’d be there to help early so we have to drive out there. We’re going there now.”

“Wait, what? What the hell? I thought we were doing lunch?”

“We want to but we just don’t have time. We have to go help set up for dinner. You know that Uncle Pat is having a rough time with Aunt Lucy passing. We need to be there for him today.”

Collin sighed, sticking his hands into his pants pockets. He wasn’t sure if he had the right to be upset with his parents right now or not. He thought they had plans but he wasn’t going to deny his Uncle Pat the help he needed right now, especially after his wife passed away from cancer that she had been battling for nearly two decades now. Reluctantly, Collin nodded. “Yeah…” He was upset but tried his best not to show it. “I should let you get going then. I just wanted you guys to meet everyone but I guess we’ll just have to do it another time.”

“Sorry honey. We’ll plan.” Collin’s mother smiled warmly and forgivingly. Collin nodded and hugged his family as they readied to leave. “Give Uncle Pat my condolences.” His mother smiled at him as she got into the taxi. “I will honey. Take care of yourself okay? Tell the gang we’re sorry and hello.” He smiled warmly at her, nodded, and shut the door of the taxi cab as she got into it. The cab drove away slowly. Collin stood there, watching it leave wondering just what he was going to say to everyone so his head didn’t get chopped off. He sighed, kicked his feet against the ground, and turned to go back upstairs.

Collin took the elevator up, the entire time thinking of just what to say to everyone who had been pressured into this exact moment. When he opened the door, alone, he could see waiting and questioning eyes land on him. “So…” He started nervously. “They’re not coming. My aunt passed away and this is my uncle’s first holiday without her so they went over there. They told me to say hi to everyone and apologize. Soooo….” Collin paused. He rubbed the back of his neck while staring at the ground and then back up at everyone. “So if you guys want; you can go do whatever now. Sorry.” Collin, upset, walked into his room, gently shutting the door, and sat on his bed.

Unsure of what to do, Oliver looked up at Isaac and Marie. “Should I talk to him? Maybe we could plan something else to do. To cheer him up. And us.”

Isaac always somehow managed to feel awkward in situations concerning anyone's family. He'd never been like Collin, rushing around to make sure everything was perfect, dressing nice, putting on a good performance. It wouldn't have done him any good, even if he had. The few times he'd tried to do something nice for his mother...it'd just ended in disaster. His best bet had been to pretend he didn't exist, not pretend he was doing well. Which they were - doing well. As well as one could expect a group of twenty year olds with shaky careers in New York to be doing.

So he arched an eyebrow as he watched the man run around, then flopped down into one of their recliners just as Marie appeared in all her glory. She looked good, she always did, but somehow Isaac had a feeling she'd pulled herself together off someone's floor. He smirked good naturally at her and nodded his hello, mildly regretting not railing his Adderall after all. He had a feeling she could probably use a pick-me-up too, but it was too late for him to mix them up something. Then again, he doubted the drink in her hand was just coffee.

Collin went down to get the family and the other three stayed, making general small talk, nothing important. Isaac teased Marie a little, wondering if he had the right idea about where she was all night, but he didn't pry or anything. Never did. It wasn't long after that when Collin returned. Surprisingly alone. Isaac arched an eyebrow, even leaned halfway out of his seat to see around his friend, but no...he was closing the door.

Explanations came and Isaac sighed. He'd lived with Collin long enough to know his friend was probably a little crestfallen. All that energy gone to waste over a misunderstanding. On Thanksgiving. Any other day, it would have sucked, but been manageable. Not today.

"I got him," he answered Ollie with a sigh as he pushed himself up. "If I fail, we'll jut throw Marie in there for a little while. I'm sure she can put a smile back on his face." He shot her a wink, his mood already improving, before he knocked once on Collin's door and let himself in.

The guy was obviously upset, sitting on his bed, but Isaac didn't let it stop him, just flopped down next to him and nudged his shoulder with his own. "Hey man, I know it sucks, but it's not the end of the world. We can make some last minute plans. You've still got us. And that smokin' hot blonde out there." Isaac winced a little, he had never been very good at sounding convincing when he talked about girls that way, even if he did think Marie was attractive he just...couldn't. What the hell was he thinking? Coming in here to talk about family problems. He was so far out of his comfort zone it wasn't even funny.

He sighed a little at the awkwardness, then wiggled his eyebrows suggestively. "We could always drop acid and go watch the parade." It'd actually been his plan before Collin had roped him into spending Thanksgiving in a more traditional manner, but he was mostly joking at this point. Not that he'd say no if Collin said he was game, but still. "Hallucinogens and big blown up animals, am I right? Just what the Indians and Pilgrims would have wanted."

Marie had got to the apartment and sat down, but Collin still seemed to be frantic. She didn't know a lot about him and his past, so she wasn't entirely sure what his parents were like to begin with. They could be neat freaks or simply prim and proper jack asses, Marie didn't know, but she still had said she'd meet them regardless. Studying what Oliver and Isaac were wearing she knew she was incredibly under dressed, but she didn't have time to run across the hall and change now, besides almost anything she owned was too revealing, she saw no shame in showing off what you had.

Seeing the smirk that Isaac gave her she sent one back his way. He likely knew where she had just came from. Well, not exact location or whom she was with, but what kind of night she had. Eventually Collin had gone downstairs to retrieve his parents. Marie had conversed with his two roommates, which she had been used to by now. They just had small talk and Isaac had teased her a little, but Marie had given it right back, hinting here and there at her night.

When Collin came upstairs, he didn't have company with him. For some reason Marie wasn't surprised. Parents were probably the worst, only good they ever did was giving you the crap life you had to live. Marie didn't ask to be born and have to pay bills or anything. Either way, she knew what kind of scum parents were. Her own mother had verbally abused her and told her a bunch of shit that Marie didn't need in her life. Even the proper parents couldn't be bothered to be there for their own child. Nothing was surprising about it.

Collin however, seemed upset about it. He went to his room and that left the three sitting there. Marie wasn't that awkward about it, but she didn't know what to do. Oliver had suggested someone going to go in and check on him, but Isaac had offered. That gave her a bit of a sigh of relief. Marie may have been sleeping with the guy, but they weren't what you would call an actual couple. She didn't know everything he disliked and liked outside of sex, she didn't know his past.

That left Marie and Oliver alone, which wasn't that bad, the two were friends. Marie actually knew more about Oliver than she did Collin. Taking another sip of her coffee she was silent for a few minutes before she spoke.

"We could always go out and do something together that he would like. Do you know of an activity he enjoys doing with friends?" Marie asked curiously. She could indeed do what Isaac was likely suggesting at, but Isaac still had some attempts to be made.

Collin looked up when the door of his bedroom opened. He had expected his friends to leave and to their own thing. He didn’t think anyone would stop in to check on him and if anyone had, he had expected it to be Oliver, not Isaac. But nonetheless, there was Isaac, tossing himself onto Collin’s bed. He nudged Collin’s shoulder and Collin turned his attention to Isaac. He smiled to Isaac’s attempt to cheer him up and thought it was funny that Isaac of all people would be the person trying to attempt to crack a joke about Marie’s level of attraction or Collin dropping acid with Isaac and watching the parade. It brought a smile to Collin’s face. He appreciated the level of friendship that he and Isaac had because it was something he had been missing for quite a while. He didn’t have these friendships back at home. Then again, he never really tried. “Yeah man, exactly what the Pilgrims would have wanted for future generations.” He laughed hard, gently and jokingly shoving Isaac. He laughed until he couldn’t breathe, the thought of him tripping on acid with Isaac wasn’t a plan Collin would have normally gone along with but right now it was the laugh he needed. His laugh came down into him searching for breath. “Thanks for that, man. Come on though, let’s get out there and make plans. I’m not gonna stay in here all night.” Collin stood up and straightened out his pants and shirt. “That’s not what Collin King is about.” Collin winked at Isaac and walked towards the door, swinging it open and heading down the short hall to the living room.

“Alright bitches! Let’s get this party fuckin’ started!” Collin shouted as he made his way past his friends in the living room to the kitchen. He opened a cupboard and pulled out several handles of alcohol, slamming each bottle on the counter. He searched for shot glasses and solo cups next. He looked up at his friends with a grin on his face. “Let’s fucking make memories to be thankful for, huh?” Collin popped open a bottle of Grey Goose vodka. He poured four shots and looked up at his friends. “So? Anyone joining me?

* * *

Oliver stood out in the living room with Marie while Isaac went into Collin’s room to talk him out of the weird mood he was in. He sat down on the couch next to Marie. She spoke and he nodded his head in agreement to her idea. “I think he’ll be alright. It’s probably just the shock of being without his family. He’s a big family man believe it or not.” He responded to her while answering a text from Ryan.

To: Ryan
We’ll probs head ovr. Our plans got cancelled

Oliver didn’t really know how to talk to Marie. They were friends, probably more so than anyone else but he also had a sliver of a crush on her and the fact that Collin and Marie had a causal relationship drew Oliver away from the idea of Marie ever wanting to be with a guy like Oliver. He felt as though he wasn’t the type of guy Marie would ever go for. While he sat there quietly, he looked at her. He watched her as she brought her cup to her mouth, he watched her lips when she spoke, he watched her eyes when she smiled, he watched the way he did things. He was intrigued by her. He thought her to be magnificent in the way she lived her life but to be completely honest, he was intimidated by her. Intimidated by the way she lived her life – freely. He didn’t know how anyone could be so bold as to not care about anything – or at least to give the impression they did not care about anything.

“How ‘bout you? No family plans?” He wanted to engage her. He hated sitting out there awkwardly. Oliver was sweet but he wasn’t exactly the most social person. At times he wished he could be the type of guy that Collin was, but he cared too much. Cared when people got hurt, cared when people felt uncomfortable or used. Only sometimes did he want to not care – but he wasn’t that guy. Oli watched her as she spoke, smiled when she looked at him, nodded as he listened to her speak. It was barely a conversation starting when Collin broke out from his room and started shouting excited profanity into the air. Oliver shot up from the couch, as if he had been doing something wrong and was being confronted for it, and watch Collin excitedly run past him into the kitchen where he started to pour shots for everyone. Oliver met the gaze Collin gave the room, then the gaze of Isaac and Marie. He shrugged his shoulder and started making his way to the kitchen to take hold of a shot glass. His thanksgiving was going pretty shitty too. He might as well join in drinking away his sorrows.

One of Isaac's favorite things about Collin was that it never seemed to really take much to cheer him up. He was generally a happy person, so this shit with his family was only a bump in the road, the rest of the day could easily be saved. He snorted at his friend's response to his joke, and then quickly dissolved into laughter. The Adderall was kicking in, and he felt great suddenly, and everything was funny. They laughed for probably a minute too long, shoved each other playfully, and then Collin was standing and Isaac grinned as he hopped up as well. "There's the Collin King we all know and love," he muttered with another playful shove towards the door.

The moment the two of them rejoined their friends, Collin was on full blast and Oliver was out of his seat in a second - like the yelling was meant to chastise him instead of excite him. Isaac arched a slightly amused eyebrow, because he couldn't imagine how difficult the last couple of minutes had been for the pair he'd left - Oliver was just a little socially awkward and Marie always seemed a bit lost on how people worked if she wasn't climbing into a bed with them. It was kind of funny, really.

"You two survive in here?" he asked as he jerked his stupid jacket off. It really was too big, and he no longer had a reason to be so dressed up. He also didn't care enough to go change, though, so the offended clothing just ended up on the couch. He rolled his sleeves back up, to look some what decent, and pulled his shirt out of his pants because really tucked-in clothing was only for when mother's visited.

Before he could make much more of a decision about his wardrobe choices, Collin was pouring shots, and Isaac found himself grinning again as he shoved passed Oliver to make it to the kitchen first, swiping a shot glass off the counter. "Hey, isn't that mine?" he asked, nodding towards the bottle of Grey Goose. He doubted it, actually, since most of his alcohol was on the floor in his room somewhere; and even if it was he would share, he was just in a playful mood.

Once the others were there with a glass in their hands, Isaac raised his high. "To making memories worth being thankful for," he toasted with a wink towards Collin, and then threw back his shot. He was already pouring another even as he dug his phone out of his pocket. It'd gone off when he'd been talking to Collin, though he couldn't imagine who was texting him. Surprisingly, it was from Nick: probably smoking in 5B in a few. buds on the house today since i'm in the holiday spirit lol. come thru if ur craving. Isaac grinned and threw back his second drink before he texted back:

To: Moreno
Fuckin awesome man

Isaac wasn't actually sure who lived in 5B, except he had gathered from his mornings with Marie that it was probably all girls. She lived there, and he figured Chanel did too because sometimes they chatted up until they parted for their respective doors. But other than that, he didn't really know. He did know, however, that he was not turning down free weed. Isaac had money, sure, but only an idiot would pass that up.

"Hey, I may have just found us something to do," Isaac mentioned, shoving his phone back in his pocket and pouring another shot. He swallowed it down before he started walking backwards out of the apartment, lifting two fingers towards his mouth in the universal 'smoking' sign. "If you're feelin' it. I'm gunna go check things out." With that he twisted around, and let himself out.

When the two were left alone, only little conversation had started between them. To be fair Marie would probably be more talkative if she were more awake. She still needed that good smack in the face to wake up, or just some time and to finish the coffee. Taking another sip she could feel it seep into her body and run in her veins. It gave her a bit of a jolt and slowly helped her wake up. She was almost lost in her train of thought and didn't hear what Oliver had said.

"I have never really done the whole holiday thing, to be frank." Marie said shrugging her shoulders. She wasn't going to get very into it with him at this moment, but her family wasn't something that gave you the warm feelings inside. She didn't have the excitement and joy about Christmas. Every birthday she would be greeted by a tipsy crack whore mother that would do nothing but shout profanities at her or tell her what a shit daughter she was and how much of a mistake she was. Of course Marie knew she was adopted, because as you could imagine that came up once she got older in their arguments.

Although Marie knew she had a whole other family out there, she also knew if they wanted to connect with her they would come hunt her down. She wasn't going to go tracking down people who didn't even want her. Either way she held no resentment towards it all. She came to terms with her well being awhile ago, so now she just had herself a future to build up.

What seemed like awhile, was only a minute at most. Soon Collin came out in his usual moods all fine. Not long before followed Isaac. She watched Collin as he pulled out the vodka, it'd be a dumb move on her to turn it down. Free liquor wasn't something anyone should turn down, especially when you were at the wealth status that Marie was at. Despite working two jobs, it was barely enough to pay bills and buy food. If only she had an actual acting career. Perhaps she could work her way up in the pornography industry, some of them got paid some actual good cash, something Marie only wished she could have.

Getting up she met the boys where the shots were. Grabbing one she lifted her shot up to toast with them to making memories to be thankful for. A smirk placed on her lips as the situation unfolded. She took the shot glass and put it to her lips where she tilted her head back and drank the shot. It had a bite to it, but she was used to most liquor at this point.

It wasn't long before Isaac had mentioned they found something for them to do. He took another shot and began backing up to the door and he gave the signal. If it was younger Marie she wouldn't have passed up the chance, but by this point, she had her fair share of drugs in the past. They weren't something that she had really got super hooked on. Marie herself just preferred the contents in a bottle and the intoxication from it was enough for her. Walking to the door, she watched Isaac head to her apartment of 5B. Figures that was where they were headed.

"I'm not going to light it up with them, but I would prefer to get some better clothes that were preferably my own." She said with a slight chuckle remembering her morning prior to this. "Feel free to follow at your own will, but Holly is probably home. She's harmless though, sweet kid." Marie said with a smile and with that she also left the apartment of 5A.

Walking into her apartment she took her shoes off and walked in going through the kitchen with the smell of cupcakes wafting up into her nostrils. They smelled delicious. "Good morning Holly." Marie said smiling at the girl before entering her room to get her clothes for the day and have a shower.

After doing what she wanted to do, she got dressed in the outfit she picked out. A pair of burgundy leggings and a nice white blouse. She figured she'd dress with more class today, seemed to be the theme of everyone else. She threw on a black beanie however and walked out to sit on the couch next to Holly.

"So what are we watching Holls?" She asked the girl grinning at her.

As each shot was thrown back, a tasteful choir of sharp breaths and clanging glasses made music to the ears of the boys. They smiled at each other as their two friends joined in, with the toast and the shot itself. Soon after it seemed as though everyone made their own separate ways. Marie to her room and Isaac to join one of his friends to go smoke. Smoking wasn’t one of Oliver’s favorite things to do but he didn’t want to get stuck in the house when everyone else had plans. He considered for a second texting Ryan to see if he was up to anything right now so that the two could relieve the mild awkwardness of sitting on someone’s couch they barely spoke to. He removed his phone from his pocket and sent Ryan a quick text, not expecting a quick reply.

To: Ryan
Busy rn?

He slipped his phone back in his pocket only to notice that he was, in fact, already alone. He scoffed at his empty surroundings, “Fucking typical.” He shook his head and followed everyone’s ghost out the door. He shut the door behind him and walked a few feet over to apartment 5B where he was sure at least Collin would be, with Marie. He knocked on the door shly and waited for an answer to come.

* * *

Everyone dispersed quickly and before they knew it Collin and Oliver were alone in the apartment. Marie walked her way out and invited anyone who wanted to join to do so at their own risk. He noticed Oliver on his phone texting God knows who and playfully scoffed to himself. He walked out of the apartment, following Marie, leaving Oliver behind in the apartment. He left their door open so that Oliver would get the hint to follow, hoping he would.

Collin followed Marie into the apartment by a few seconds, he took his shoes off at the door and took in a deep breath of whatever it was that they were baking. “Ladies,” He kindly greeted as he walked in. “That seems awesome,” He pointed over to the kitchen as he made his way over to get a closer look at what they were doing. Cupcakes. One of Collin’s guilty pleasures. He didn’t have many of them because the sugar made him feel like shit afterwards but he did have to say that if he were to ever indulge in an extreme cheat meal, cupcakes would be the way to go. Collin made his way back over to the couch where Marie and Holly sat and joined them, placing his legs on top of Marie’s and leaning back on the arm of the couch, Collin playfully made himself comfortable. He slipped his phone out his pocket and sent out one single text.

To: Marie
Hey hottie, how bout a quicky ;)

He hit send and looked up to watch her reaction to the text. Collin was back in his playful mood and now he wanted to play.

Holly didn't watch television alone frequently enough to know which television station coincided with each channel number, so she spent a good ten minutes scrolling up and down through the program choices before landing on a Phineas and Ferb episode and staying there. She was easily entertained, so the cartoon had her laughing within a few minutes. She had barely noticed Makayla bringing Nick in, and surprisingly, the same went for Marie when she had come in and said good morning. Normally, she definitely would have been one of the people who Holly would have leaped off of the couch to greet. Marie and Chanel were both very nice to Holly, but Marie's kindness was always very genuine seeming. However, Holly had seen Marie yesterday, and Makayla hadn't allowed her to watch television in over a week, so the latter was winning her attention today.

When fifteen minutes passed and Marie reemerged from the bedroom hallway, now in new clothes, and came to sit with her, Holly was still emerged in the show, but definitely glad that Marie was there. She pulled her legs onto the couch and crossed them as she turned to Marie with an energetic smile. "Phineas and Ferb," she answered quickly. "It's so funny," she giggled, clutching Marie's hand with enthusiasm. "And do you see the boy with the green hair?" she continued, before pointing to the screen when Ferb appeared. "That one! He talks like Roman does. Do you know him? He lives at Cara's house, and he has the same voice as Ferb," she said, referring to the English accent. "Do you think that means Ferb was adopted, because he's supposed to be Phineas' brother I think, but no one else in their family has green hair and no one else talks like that." She had released Marie's hand and had slowly begun to turn her attention back to the show midway through her commentary, but then a commercial came on and Collin walked in, and she lost her focus once again.

Holly didn't know Collin or any of the boys from that apartment very well. Because they lived across the hall, she did see them from time to time when they happened to pass in the halls. Sometimes Holly would make a comment about a bag one of them was carrying, if she recognized a store logo, or about Collin's tattoos if he was wearing clothes that revealed them, but she didn't know him to the extent that she knew the boys in 5C. "Don't let him eat them! They're for Cara's!" she whispered frantically, smacking Marie's arm softly. Normally, she would have just said so herself even despite not knowing Collin well, but the commercial that was currently playing caught her eye, and she didn't want to speak so loudly where she couldn't hear the advertisement. When it was over, she turned back to look towards the kitchen area and was relieved to find Collin heading back towards them without a cupcake in hand.

Despite it not being a new thing, Holly was unaware of the hookup relationship that Collin and Marie had. She was always asleep when Collin was in their apartment at night to be with her. If it had ever happened where he was coming out of her bedroom in the morning and Holly was awake, Makayla would give some lame excuse about how he was there to fix a light bulb or something, that Holly would believe without a second thought. When he sat down next to Marie and rested his legs on hers playfully, Holly narrowed her eyebrows in confusion. She wanted to ask Marie why he was doing that to her, or tell Collin that Makayla probably needed his help with her math work too, since she and Nick had been in there for what seemed like a while, but her show was back on, so Holly's attention switched back to that. "Did you tell Cara to invite you to her house, Marie? We're going to have turkey," she exclaimed, though still clearly distracted by the television show.

Normally Isaac wouldn't think twice about letting himself into someones place, but it felt a little strange to just open up the door to 5B without any kind of warning. Especially since it was midday; so he checked his phone again, to make sure he had the right apartment. He did, but before he had to make a decision himself, Marie was in front of him and opening the door.

He followed in after her, smelling something baking almost immediately and hearing some kind of cartoon. He arched an eyebrow, wondering how many people had already lit up, but when the living area came into view it was only a young redhead sitting in front of the tv. He recognized her, knew her name was Holly - only because sometimes in the hallway she commented on something he was carrying (and once his Wonder Woman teeshirt) and the woman she'd been with had said her name in exasperation before a full blown conversation could start. But that was about as far as that went.

He also knew she couldn't be much older than fifteen or sixteen, so while Marie was telling the kid hi, Isaac just made his way through the apartment towards the bedrooms. One door was open, one door Marie disappeared into, and so he took his chances with the last, giving it a knock before drawing it open just wide enough to peak. He grinned when he saw Nick, and nodded to the girl whose room he was probably in. He thought her name started with a M...Michelle? No, something closer to McKenzie? He let himself in then, gently pushing the door shut behind him.

"Hey," he greeted with a grin, then glanced up at the girl. "Sorry for just, like, letting myself in your place. But yo, Nick said something about buds on the house so, ya know."

Given that they had already packed, Isaac felt a little late to the party, but he didn't let that stop him. He just picked a spot on the floor to sit between the two beds - seemed less invasive that way, if not the most roomy - and glanced around until he saw the bag of weed sitting next to Michelle-McKenzie-McWhatever. He grinned and made grabby hands like the child he definitely was (especially on Adderall). "Hit me up, girl."

"Yeah, yeah, Isaac's always chill," Nick reassured Makayla when she gave the approval for him to come. It wasn't always true, but that was usually when he was taking uppers. He didn't know if Isaac would want to mix something like that with the weed, but then again, when free weed was on the table, most people would feel compelled to take him up on the offer no matter what else was in their system. He took a hit before answering her question, about what they were doing for Thanksgiving. He thought that Makayla, out of everyone, had no way of knowing about what he had done with Cara, so he felt stupid for being paranoid and thinking that she somehow knew. If he wasn't sure of the quality of his weed, he would try to tell himself that maybe it was the weed that was making him paranoid, but this was something he had been feeling consistently for the past three weeks. "Brooke wants to eat with you guys, yeah," he began, taking one more hit, letting the smoke remain in his lungs for a good few seconds before finally exhaling. "So we'll probably stick around for a little, eat, and then head out. We always do the movies on Thanksgiving, so we're going to go see the James Bond movie that's out." A lot of the time when he was high, Nick felt more inclined to talk. Even though he was comfortable around Makayla sober, he was pretty quiet in general, and small talk wasn't his forte. Smoking opened him up to a degree, though, so just talking casually about nothing didn't feel strained. "Those cupcakes smell good, so I'll try to get her to stick around for dessert too. It's not even one and she's already drinking, so for all I know, she'll be passed out before we can even get to the theater. We're just gonna play it by ear, I guess."

Unlike Nick, Makayla tended to zone out more while high. It was what she did to relax, so that was really the only thing she wanted to do while smoking. Nick's conversation never bothered her, and didn't bother her now, but she mostly just nodded along. She wasn't going to push the topic of it being Cara's dinner, and how that would be with Brooke there because it wasn't her job to police Nick's behavior or tell him that she knew. They weren't that close, and as long as he hooked her up with free weed occasionally, Makayla would turn a blind eye to him being a murderer if it came to that, so being a cheater wasn't a huge deal. Her main goal at the moment was to get high enough where she could survive, and possibly even enjoy the rest of the day, but she knew that she needed to do it quickly. She didn't want to be doing this if her roommates came back, especially since she had left Holly to watch their television. No matter how many times they said they didn't mind Holly using it, Makayla did feel guilty when she wasn't helping to pay for it. It would only make her feel worse if she was letting Holly use it while she got high. Makayla was used to smoking quickly, and she usually took toke after toke until her bowl was empty. Sometimes it took three minutes, sometimes ten, depending on just how fast she was going. Her first bowl took five minutes, and just as Isaac came in, she reloaded it. One more couldn't hurt.

She tossed him the bag when she was finished, and spent the next fifteen minutes on the second bowl. She wanted this high to last, and she knew that once she finished this bowl, she was going to have to go check on Holly. If everything was still okay, she figured that she could get away with coming back to smoke one more. It would seem like a lot of weed for such a petite girl, in such a small amount of time, but Makayla had been smoking since she was fifteen or sixteen, and she was used to smoking a lot. She hadn't engaged much in the small talk that Nick and Isaac were in, so when there was a pause, she set her pipe down and got up from the bed. "I'm going to go check on my sister. Isaac, you should treat us to pizza since Nick covered the weed," she said teasingly. She definitely wasn't close with Isaac and had only remembered his name when Nick said in during the conversation, but when you smoked with people, it was a bit of a bonding experience. It was one that likely wouldn't extend past the duration of being high, but she didn't feel weird pushing the offer playfully. That toast from earlier wasn't going to keep her munchies at bay. Before leaving the room, she doused herself and the room in general with Febreeze, knowing that it still wasn't likely to cover the smell considering the amount they were smoking. She considered trying out some eye drops on her eyes, but thought that it was just Holly in the apartment, and Holly wasn't going to be observant enough to notice them being bloodshot.

"Dude, that girl can smoke," Nick laughed when Makayla left the room. His bag of weed was basically depleted at that point. Roman wasn't even on his mind anymore, since Nick figured he was no longer coming, but if he did, he was going to be disappointed. Nick tended to be generous when he was high, but even he knew that he couldn't get away with giving out anymore free weed at the moment. Brooklyn would kill him, and it would hurt his own wallet. "You going to Cara's too later? Pizza sounds good right about now, but I'm stoked for that turkey."

A few steps out of the room and Makayla realized that it wasn't just Holly in there. She heard voices and as she turned the corner, found Marie and Collin sitting on the couch with Holly. Fuck! She had no idea how long they had been out there or if they knew what was going on in their room. It probably wasn't a huge deal. Marijuana was much more accepted than other drugs, but it just went back to the point of Makayla not wanting her roommates to think of her that way. At the same time, in her state, she couldn't find it in her to be too bothered by it. A natural smile appeared on her face as she waved to them and then looked over at Holly who seemed consumed by the TV. "Hey Marie," she said. She knew Collin mostly just from seeing him in the apartment sometimes with Marie, but she didn't think it was necessary to specifically greet him. "Holly, let them watch the TV now. They don't want to watch this," she said as she rounded the corner and saw that a cartoon was playing on the screen. By the way that Collin was sitting with Marie, she assumed that they were trying to get cozy and she didn't need Holly getting in the way with that. "Come and ice your cupcakes, leave them be for now. Nick and Isaac and I are almost finished with our work, so I'll come help you in a few minutes," she continued, walking into the kitchen to check on the cupcakes. They really did smell good and she was so tempted to just eat one, but she knew Holly would make a big deal out of it. Isaac was going to need to order that pizza, and soon. She grabbed the icing and a knife and left them on the counter for Holly, who she turned to tell once more to get off of the couch when she heard a knocking at the door. It was only a few feet away, so she opened it without waiting for Marie to. The boy on the other side was familiar to her too as a neighbor, but she didn't know her name off of the top of her head. "Oh, uh, Marie, he must be here for you," she said, looking at the boy for another moment before somewhat awkwardly turning away and leaving him in the doorway.

Marie had been sitting comfortably on the couch. Upon asking what the girl was watching she had responded that she had been watching Phineas and Ferb. A show that Marie wasn't hugely familiar with, but she knew it just based on Holly in general. Marie couldn't help the soft spot that she felt for the girl. She was just so naive and she had a rough life from what Marie could remember of the bits and pieces she had heard. Either way Holly began talking about the show and about Ferb in particular. Marie listened intently and was engaged in the conversation she was having with Holly.

At the mention of Ferb speaking like Roman, Marie couldn't help but laugh a little bit. "You know, he kinda does." Marie said in agreement with an amused smile on her face. Holly really was the safe place for Marie. Marie didn't have to worry about building herself up to be someone grand. She could just be less guarded around the girl and it was nice to have that in her life. Something she hasn't really had for a long time. Holly had gone off on a rant, but Marie had followed.

Shaking her head she responded to Holly, "I don't think he is adopted. Doesn't he sound a bit like the dad?" Marie asked hoping she had remembered correctly. The dad wasn't in every episode, but he showed up from time to time. Soon Collin had walked in and made a remark on the cupcakes being awesome. Holly had got concerned that Collin would eat them, and informed Marie that they were for Cara's later. Nodding Marie was about to tell Collin not to touch them, when he came and sat down on the couch with them. His legs had been resting on hers, and Holly had asked if she was going to Cara's or rather had been invited.

"Don't you worry Holly, I'll be there, and then I can try one of your delicious cupcakes." She said with a grin. She felt her phone vibrate in her hand, but just as she was about to look at it, she heard someone coming. She turned her head and had seen it was Makayla. "Hey Makayla." She responded. Marie knew what people looked like high, and she could see the red in her eyes. However Marie also knew that was where Isaac had gone to, just Marie wasn't that into marijuana at this point in her life. When she was a teenager, yea, but now, no.

Listening to the girl tell her sister that the TV should be left to her and Collin, Marie checked her phone and grinned. Once Makayla left, she turned to Holly, "Hey, it's okay. I like to watch a good cartoon from time to time. Have you ever seen Curious George? It's pretty great to. Also feel free to watch TV, I don't mind. I'm hardly home to watch it anyways." Marie said reassuring the girl it was alright if she wanted to continue watching. Marie was about to reply to Collin when Oliver had come in as well.

"Oh, hey Oli!" She said and then looked to Holly. "Holly, this is Collin, and this is Oliver. Guys this is Holly." She said pointing to the right person in correspondence with their name. While she gave them time to say hi to each other she looked back down to her phone and responded back to Collin.

Marie had been with Collin for a little bit. Unfortunately due to certain circumstances he decided to move and so did Oliver. She spent her time saying good bye to them. Marie hadn't felt super attached to anyone in the building, but Collin and Oliver she was somewhat close to. Actually the whole apartment of 5A she was relatively close to in general. More so than the 5C crew. She slept with Roman like once, wasn't really a thing, never met Cara, but she was supposed to go over there soon.

After departing from the former 5A residents, she figured she should bring something food wise to apologize for being late, and just walking into their home. She decided a nice bottle of wine would be good, and something non-alcoholic for Holly and possibly Ryan? How old was Ryan? was he legal? It didn't really matter to Marie, seeing as she drank way before it was legal, but his older sister could not allow him to drink. Either way she picked it up and started to walk back to the apartment building.

Walking up the stairs she greeted a few people, until she got to the fifth floor and saw all the boxes. "Dang, that was fast." She commented out loud, about someone moving into 5A and she decided she would at least drop her purse off in her apartment. She opened the door, and noticed it wasn't lock. She walked in and placed her purse down in her room. Marie checked herself in the mirror to make sure she was good, and once deciding everything was a go she walked back out again.

Carrying the wine and a bottle of sparkling apple juice. The bottle looked fancy and she figured Holly might like it. When she walked back out into the hall she noticed the boy was still standing there. Before going to knock on Cara's door she turned to look at the attractive man in front of her. Someone she hadn't met yet. "Hello." She said greeting him with a smile. That was when the door to Cara's apartment had swung open and it was Isaac coming to meet his new roommate.

"Long time no see, Isaac." Marie said with a grin plastered on her face. Isaac was the man if you had a hangover, so naturally Marie found herself there a lot in hopes he'd help her out. Shifting her stuff over from one arm to the other she offered out a hand to the new fellow. "I'm Marie, I just live in 5B."

The girl who had greeted him at the door definitely had a personality. Colton wasn't much of a sociable person. He could do it when he was sober and bored, and interacting with people seemed to be the only thing that would rid him of his boredom. Like at work, where people surprisingly liked him. He didn't know how well the drunk Colton socialized really, because as strange as it was for him to think about, he didn't have many friends. The friends he had were people he knew through work, and they weren't at that level where they ever socialized outside of work, so whenever Colton was getting drunk, it was alone on his couch with a twelve pack of beer and a bottle of whiskey that he would drink until he passed out. Essentially, he didn't think that his personality even came close to comparing to the girl who was at the door's. Who... he realized, didn't share her name before leaving. It wasn't like he had introduced himself either, but he knew that it was going to bother him, not knowing her name. For all he knew, he would never speak to her again, so it wasn't even for politeness reasons the next time they spoke, it would just be one of those little things that would bother him. He wouldn't have minded getting her name... and number... along with the blonde's too, but if it ever happened, it would have to happen at another time because with a short laugh and a nod on his part, she was gone, and a beat later, Isaac was there. He was a decent looking dude, someone who didn't seem to have any issues that would make their living situation dreadful right off the bat. Plus, with Colton's mood regarding their landlord, when the guy complained about him, it made him like him that much more. "Right? That dude's fucking useless down there," he said, shaking his head.

As he turned to face his new apartment, he found a girl who quickly introduced herself as Marie. Maybe it was just the bottle of wine in her hand, but she was a pretty attractive looking girl too. Was he living across the hall from the America's Next Top Model house or something...? "Nice to meet you. Colton," he said, shaking her hand briefly before pulling away. He looked towards Isaac, and then towards his boxes and then back at Isaac. He wasn't going to have a problem moving those in, even if Kacey bailed on him once she got up there with the last of the boxes. The smell that still had his nose tingling from Apartment 5C reminded him that it was Thanksgiving and that he didn't need to be depriving Isaac of that heavenly food. And those heavenly women. "I'll figure everything out," Colton insisted right after Isaac unlocked the door. "I appreciate you leaving that party to open this for me anyway," he said with a grin, speaking lowly now so Marie wouldn't be able to hear as he took a step inside his new apartment. "Seems like more than just the food in there is edible, if you know what I mean. Bring something other than brownies back here for dessert, and I'm not gonna judge you, man," he laughed. He wasn't trying to be too buddy-buddy, but what guy couldn't bond with another guy over some smoking hot girls? That just went without saying.

Isaac found himself smiling when the new guy not only agreed with his comment about Larry, but threw in his own insult as well. He was no Collin, but Isaac had a feeling they were going to get along just fine. As long as he didn't end up being a straight-and-narrow bible thumper, which honestly Isaac doubted. He tried not to judge based on outward appearances but...he was pretty sure this guy wasn't that type.

Marie showed up next, appearing outside of her own apartment, and Isaac's smile stretched into a grin. He was happy to see her, and moreso glad to see that she was armed to join the party in 5C. He wasn't exactly fond of most of the group he was currently hanging out with, but with Collin and Ollie gone he knew he needed to make more friends; he really was too social to be a shut in. It was good to see a familiar face though. He hoped Marie would still come around his place sometimes, even if she had to use the front door in the 'mornings' (after noon) instead of being able to just stumble into the livingroom. He hoped the boys moving wouldn't mess up the start of an actual friendship they had going.

"Hey hun." Isaac greeted Marie after the other two shared introductions - apparently his new roomie's name was Colton. He dug his key out of his pocket and nodded over his shoulder to the room behind him. "They just now started in on the food. Everything looks pretty decent, smells even better. I'm gunna let Colton in and then I'll catch up with you."

He left her to go inside while he went to unlock the door to 5A, and was about to offer to carry stuff in when Colton beat him to the punch, pre-declining any help. Isaac shrugged nonchalantly. The apartment was clean since all the packing the other two had done earlier that week (save a slight smell of weed), the bedroom door to the empty room wide open so it'd be obvious where Colton should go. There was really nothing he needed to point out or anything. "No problem," he said in response to leaving the party. He wasn't particularly itching to get out of there, but it wasn't something he was cursing missing every second of.

Colton's next comment almost made Isaac choke on air. It wasn't that he wasn't used to stuff like that...Collin used to say plenty of colorful things about Marie's attractiveness - it was just the articulate manner Colton used, the dessert comparison and all. He cleared his throat a little, and resisted the urge to rub the back of his neck; because there was only one person in 5C he'd be interested in bringing back, and he was pretty damn sure Colton wasn't talking about him. Not that it mattered, because it wouldn't happen anyway.

On the plus side, his Heterosexual-Meter was in working order, so that was nice to know. "Uh, yeah," he muttered a little awkwardly, trying to wrack his brain for the few times Collin had teased him about the way he talked about girls and the right things to say. In the end he just shrugged, because the topic of women in general always made him uncomfortable and that seemed safe. "I guess. I dunno. Tips and tricks before you try any dessert samples though: Cara - homicidal looking blonde, little black dress? - is terrifying as fuck. Chanel - pretty, dark skin, talkative - is a sweetheart. Marie is a peach, likes to party, and is apparently fantastic in bed, but I wouldn't know." That should at least cover the girls Colton had already met...he'd guessed Cara, since she'd come to get him in the first place. He didn't even really know Chanel well enough to call her a sweetheart, but he figured it was true.

He felt a little awkward just leaving now, but it wasn't like he could invite Colton back over there. It wasn't his Thanksgiving party, and not even one he should have been invited to in the first place. He wondered if maybe Chanel had asked Colton over, but not enough to stick his neck out and ask. "Anyway, I guess I'm going to attempt to survive the rest of that party. Feel free to put anything anywhere. The fridge is stocked, cable works, you shouldn't need anything. But if you do, ya know, just come get me." And with that he awkwardly waved as he backtracked out.
