Francesca had been sleeping peacefully until there was a knock on her door, "M'lady the king requests your presence." Came the voice of her maid. A quiet sigh escaped her lips as she sat up, running a hand through her tangled hair. "Come in," She said still half asleep, rubbing at her eyes. The woman walked in and started to help Francesca get dressed in her corset and many lairs of clothes. "Do you know what he wishes to speak with me about?" She asked as the woman brushed out her hair. "I'm not sure M'lady, but there was a rather dashing young man who arrived early this morning" She said. With those words, Francesca got a sinking feeling in her stomach, her father had been trying for years to get her to wed, but Francesca just wasn't interested in the men her dad chose for her, or in any man for that matter.

When her maid was finished with her hair, Francesca got up and walked over to her window, opening the shutters. "M'lady, we shouldn't keep the king waiting." The maid said, ringing her hands a little nervously. Francesca didn't say anything, just rested her elbows on the windowsill leaning out a little, letting the ocean breeze brush against her face, watching the waves as they rolled in.Image "M'lady, please come along now." The maid insisted, clearly worried about the king's wrath for being kept waiting. "Alright, I'm coming." Francesca said with a sigh, straightening up and closing her window back before walking out of her room.

Her father, King Nicholas, was waiting for her in the dinning hall, seated to his left was a young man about Francesca's age. Compared to other guys her dad has tried to force on her, he was much more pleasing on the eyes, but she still wasn't interested. From the look on the young man's face though, she could tell the same couldn't be said for him. "Francesca, how nice of you to grace us with your presence." Her father said, clearly unhappy with how long he'd been kept waiting. "My apologies," Francesca said, not that she actually meant it, and her father was well aware. The servants quickly started to serve the three breakfast as her father continued to talk. "This is Prince Jamie of Wombourne, he is your betrothed." her father said matter-of-factly, causing Francesca to choke on the water she'd just taken a sip of. "Betrothed!?" She asked, eyes wide. "You heard me. You have turned away many worthy men, but no more. You won't chose a husband so I have chosen one for you." He said as he started to eat his breakfast, not even bothering to look at Francesca, his mind made up. "M'lady, it a pleasure to meet you," The young prince finally spoke up, giving Francesca a kind smile which she returned with a glare of resentment.

Francesca stood up from the table without a word and started toward the door. "Francesca Elizabeth Renaldi, get back here this instant!" Her father demanded, but she ignored him and marched out of the castle. She was beyond furious, being forced into an arranged marriage with a guy she didn't even know, a guy she would never be able to love. She was so angry she felt tears stinging at her eyes. She made her way through town, keeping her head down, hoping not to be noticed, she just wanted to be alone for a while, to forget about everything. She was crossing the bridge that went across the opening to the bay when a wagon came barreling down the street nearly running into her. Francesca quickly stepped to the side, bumping into the wall lining the bridge. She tried to catch her balance but it was a futile attempt and she fell over the side of the bridge, her arms flailing as she hit the water below. Her mouth was open mid-scream when she went under, her mouth and lungs filling with water. She tried to right herself, to get her barring's but a strong current hit her, pushing her farther from the shore out into the ocean.

It was a crisp, cold morning as the captain awoken within her room. She let out a sigh as she slowly sat up in her bed and stretched. She had a long day ahead of her. Not only was she having to keep eyes out on the water because of some crazy pirate she pissed off, though she didn't seem to understand why he was pissed off at her to begin with. All she did was murder most of his crew and steal his jewels, no big deal, right?

The brunette stood from her bed, sliding her boots back onto her feet as she made her way to the opposite side of the room, fillin a glass with much needed bourbon whiskey. She let out a sigh as she sat down at her desk and began looking over the map, trying to figure out what the next destination would be.

"Cap'n, Cap'n," a tall, muscular man from her crew called out as he barged through her door. She immediately stood to her feet and reached for her gun. "What did I tell you about not knocking?" she demanded as she held the gun towards him. The male lifted his hands in surrender before speaking, "I'm sorry Cap'n. But there is a woman out in the water," he stated.

Poppy sighed and set her gun back down on the desk. She started making her way out of her quarters and onto the deck. "You coming Jackass?" she stated as she made her way over to the group who was freaking out and glancing over the edge of the ship. The female sighed and shook her head in frustration. "There is a woman out there drowning and none of you decided to go out and help her. Hell, I know you're pirates but there is no need to treat women this way," she stated as she removed her boots and weapons from herself and dived into the freezing water. If she wasn't awake before, she definitely was now.

She popped her head up to the surface and began swimming towards the female's body. She made her way over towards the ship and began climbing up the rescue ladder on the side of the ship, calling out to her crew. "Get over here you idiots and help me get her on the ship!" she demanded. Immediately she was flocked with crew members who were retrieving the woman from her so she could get onto the ship herself.

Once Poppy was on the ship she knelt down beside the girl, finding that she was dressed like royalty and sighed knowing that her stupid outfit was making it even harder for her to breathe properly. She took the knife from one of her crew's pants and sliced through the dress and corset, allowing the female to breathe once again. Once that was done, she noticed the female beginning to cough up water out of her system.

ImageFrancesca had blacked out from lack of oxygen, when she started to come to, she felt the gentle rocking of a ship and heard the sound of the waves hitting the hull. She coughed loudly, her throat burning as she coughed up the water that had filled her lungs. It took her a moment to realize that her dress and corset had been cut, she grasped at the clothes holding it together in front of her as she started to get her wits about her. A quick glance around and she realized she was on a ship, surrounded by a bunch of men and from what she could tell only one woman. She wasn't sure what to say, she remembered everything, the fight with her dad, falling off the bridge and hitting the water but from there she was lost not that there was probably much to remember just a lot of water.

Francesca carefully got to her feet though she was unsteady, never having been on a ship before. "Thank you," She said quietly, knowing that if it weren't for these people she would more than likely be dead right now. She glanced around at the people in front of her, not sure which one was the captain of this ship. "I'm Francesca." She said to no one in particular since she wasn't sure who to address, she didn't give her title, not wanting them to know that she was a princess, that her father was the king. She shivered slightly as the cool air blew across her wet skin.

Poppy smiled as she noticed the blonde female beginning to stand to her feet and she also stood to her's as well. She could tell the female was feeling a bit wobbly on the ship and all the men were just staring at the female. She sighed as she glanced around at her crew, though just before she was going to say anything she was cut off by the female introducing herself. "I'm Francesca," she heard the female state.

Once everyone was silent she turned her attention back to the men and spoke, "Why are you all just standing around watching this poor girl shiver. Go get her a blanket so she can warm up," Poppy demanded to the filthy crew. She sighed as she noticed a couple of them scurrying off to attend to her demands.

"I'm Poppy Manning, Captain of this ship. Do you live around here?" she questioned as the ship was just making it's way under the bridge. She began making her way towards her cabin, signaling for Francesca to follow her. One of the crew returned with a blanket and handed it to the blonde with a polite bow of his head and returned to his fellow crew. Poppy opened the door to her cabin and stepped inside, "Come on inside, let's get you something dry and more comfortable to put on," she stated as she waited for the female to follow her inside.

ImageFrancesca was a little surprised when she realized that the woman was infact the captain of this ship. She'd heard about women who were in places of power, above men, but she'd never witnessed it before now, the way the men so quickly followed the woman's orders, it was amazing to Francesca. She's always grown up under the rule of her father, and she knew when she got married she would be under the rule of her husband. Even as queen she would still have to answer to a man, the king.

Francesca was pulled from her thoughts when one of the men returned with a blanket for her. "Thank you," she said to him, before following Poppy into her cabin. She glanced around curiously once inside. "Yeah, I live in town. I was just crossing over the bridge when a speeding cart gave me a freight and I fell over." She said a with a slight blush, embarrassed of her clumsiness. She wrapped the blanket tightly around herself, trying to keep warm as she watched Poppy completely fascinated with the woman. "It must be amazing, you know, being the captain, not having to answer to anyone." She said quietly, her blush deepening as the words slipped out of her mouth, words that were meant to simply be a thought.

Poppy made her way over to her dresser and began pulling out some dry clothing that looked like it might fit her. Though once she heard the female's words she just smirked as she turned with the clothes in her hands. "Well, it is pretty nice. Especially in a world where women are dominated by the men. Though I won't just sit here and tell you that it wasn't some hard work to get to where I am today. It took a lot of courage and even torture, but I continued to stand my ground," she explained as she then handed the woman the clothes. "These don't look to be your style, but I hope it works," she stated as she made her way over to her desk and turned her back to her. "Feel free to change, I won't look and the guys know to knock before they come inside," she added.

Poppy reached for her glass of whiskey that she poured just moments before she was interrupted by the rude crew member and sipped from it as she looked outside the porthole window. It was only a couple hours until they reached land and she would be able to make sure Francesca got home safely.

Image"Thank you," Francesca said, taking the clothes that Poppy offered to her. She waited until the woman turned around before slowly pulling on the clothes she'd been given. She was grateful that they were dry and she was warming up exponentially. Once she was dressed she started to look around the cabin, curious about everything. She'd always wondered how others lived, outside of the castle walls. Her father rarely let her leave and when she was allowed outside she always surrounded by guards. To say her father was overprotective is an understatement, being his only child and the only one able to continue his blood line, he wouldn't risk the chance of anything happening to her.

"So, your visit to Crow's Arrow? Is it for business or pleasure?" She asked as she continued to look around the cabin. Even though she'd just met Poppy, she really hoped she would be able to hang out with her some more, wanting to get know her better. She felt she could learn a lot from this woman, who she assumed had seen the whole world, or at least the majority of it. "How long are you going to be in town for?" She asked curiously, hoping she would have a chance to get to know this woman better.

Poppy stood there, staring out the porthole window as she listening to the muffled sounds of the female getting changed. She sipped from her drink once more and let out a soft sigh into the quietness that has surrounded the captain's quarters. She was curious about this female, thought there was more to her than she was letting on. Though at this point Poppy didn't care about that at all. All that mattered to her, the reason she took this long journey in the first place was to speak with her old captain, to make a deal of some sort with him. One that only she knew the circumstances of.

Once she heard Fracesca's voice, she figured she was finished changing so she turned around and sat down at her desk as she glanced down at the map. "I'm not sure how long I'll be here, but this trip is for business. I have to speak to my old captain," she stated. Poppy glanced over at Francesca with a sigh and glanced over at her drink, "Would you like something to eat or drink?" she questioned to the blonde female standing before her. Finding that she looked great in her clothes. She would make a great pirate. she thought.

Maybe in the long run Poppy would be able to talk the female into joining her crew, becoming the second female pirate in the world. Although she loved being known all around the world for her role as the only female captain, she felt a bit lonely on deck. She hated being surrounded by so many guys and they were all idiots for crying out loud. There were times when she had to repeat herself to the crew in order for them to take to their duties and obey her words. It even got to the point where she had to threaten to shoot a couple of them.
