I fight for my people!

a character in “A Place Called Here”, as played by Adantas

Description

Name: Marpe

Age: 18

Gender: Female

Species: Amazonian

Picture: Image {Sorry, I don't do anime}

Abilities: As an Amazonian warrior Marpe is specially trained in many fields of warcraft. But her talents lie mainly in swordsmanship, able to wield the deadly blade with ease.

Disabilities: Marpe ended up in the Here because of a frailty in her mind and an injury her sword wielding arm.

History: Deep within a valley lived a powerful tribe of Amazonian's. These women were born fighters and wouldn't hesitate to initiate an attack should wandering men come through. But the role of the warrior wasn't the only path for these women, they needed crafts and food but also children to keep their tribe strong. It wasn't often that they would actually allow a few men to live, but if they did so they had to be the strongest of all the men. This was to ensure that the children would be born strong and healthy, worthy of living as an Amazonian.

Few were born this particular year and their numbers were dwindling. The babes were dying young and it broke the stone hearts of many of the woman. Yet, miraculously one child did survive. This was Marpe. The child was blessed as a survivor. All the woman wanted to grow her strength and so growing up the child was pushed and made to test her boundaries. She was beginning to turn into a strong young Amazonian making her sisters, mother, aunts proud. Marpe had great knowledge and skill, she was seen as the perfect role model for the young girls who had been born in the years past. It was even believed that Marpe would be the perfect leader when the time came.

But for the last 18 years, they had been in relative peace, with no impending wars or battles to keep them sharp. This meant that while Marpe was a skilled warrior she hadn't had any experience in the battle field. As it happened, most of the older woman when they were young they had to survive through battles and so from a young age were used to the aftermath, unlike Marpe. As a result there was no question that they could handle the initiation. As Marpe's initiation loomed she trained harder than ever to prepare herself for the unknown tasks. The day arrived and she was prepared with the traditional markings. Her attire was simple as she had to earn her armour. So she had a tough leather top that covered to her midwaist and the same leather trousers. They weren't comfortable but this wasn't about comfort this was for protection.

She stood before the Leader, who handed her a marvellous sword and told her that if she was able to survive this would be her battle sword. It was the highest honour. Marpe was to ride with two Amazonians, who would judge her, into a small campsite and fight the men. If she was successful she would be welcomed back a true Amazonian. The young woman was eager and so at first light they rode. They reached the campsite, to which there were about five tents probably holding at least two men in each. It may have been easier to kill them in their sleep but this was not the Amazonian way, it was dishonourable so leaping off her horse she marched into the centre and yelled to wake the men, telling them to face her.

The first few men emerged confused and half dressed. Knowing the terrible stories about these women they instantly grabbed their swords. As they did so Marpe attacked. The first three were slain quickly and so she didn't have time to comprehend the blood, gore and horrific screams of the dying men. But she was not deterred just yet. She battled on, as the men awoke and realised what was happening they charged, more focused. Pumped with adrenaline she was able to kill most until there were only three left. She had multiple cuts and could feel the sharp pains of bruising in her arms and torso. But she wasn't done yet and so mightily cried before attacking them. But these men where different, they had watched how she had fought and so managed to injure her, but not before she killed two of them.

Exhausted and faced with the last man they circled. And it was then that she saw the horror of the dying bodies around her. She could feel her insides beginning to retch. She clutched her stomach, preparing to double over when the man was upon her. His large hands grappled around her arms, he was larger and stronger than she. And the weariness of battle was beginning to take it's toll and she could not break from his grip. He snapped her wrist and she screamed in pain. The two Amazonian woman while distraught could only watch, they wouldn't interfere. He then broke her forearm. It was excruciating. She was limp with pain and so he easily picked her up. He forced her to look at what she had done.

"Look!" He bellowed. "You kill for no reason, these were my men, my brothers-in-arm. Now they are gone forever and you will suffer for what you have done!"

It was all too much for Marpe, the realisation at what she had done and the violent scene before her were too much. No amount of training could have prepared her for this. She let out a gut wrenching scream, her mind breaking down. She did not die at the hands of this man. Instead the two Amazonian woman killed him, they believed he was polluting her mind, that he would make her believe that not all men were evil and didn't have souls. They rushed her back to the Tribe. Unfortunately her arm was too broken to be properly fixed and while the healer tried to bind it Marpe blacked out.

And that was when she found herself in the Here.

Hobbies:
- Practising with her sword
- Horse riding
- Painting

Personality: Since Marpe was little she had been the only child and so therefore had been used to attention. She is bold, sometimes out spoken and proud but is also very honourable. She believes herself to be the best and isn't afraid to think of herself as above someone else. Extremely determined and willing to do what it takes for her to achieve something, there is no bounds to her ambition. The young woman oozes self confidence and appears to care for little. While she has a relatively hard exterior, built from living with equally tough women, what she is on the inside isn't much different. Except she does possess some qualities that even she does not fully realise and finds embarrassing. She is what you would call the protector, while she sometimes feels it is a weakness Marpe would not hesitate to help someone in trouble. She is also an optimist, she wants to see the best in everybody and despite that not being the Amazon way she can't help but think as such.

Likes:
- Open spaces
- The blue sky
- Horses
- Weapons

Dislikes:
- Weaklings
- Whining
- Cramped or crowded areas
- Ambiguity

Back home: It is Earth man, many years ago. Hidden deep within a valley that animals still evolving from the prehistoric era roam. It is a dangerous world.

Other: Marpe has this connection to the great Goddess that the Amazon's worship, that she doesn't even realise. It was the Goddess' will that she realised the terribleness that the Amazonian's bloodthirstiness caused.

So begins...

Consciousness coming back to her Marpe braced for the wave of pain that she was sure to feel. A few seconds past and nothing happened, she felt no pain, no aches, nothing. She felt comfortable. It was the oddest thing she had ever experienced that she sat bolt upright, instantly alert. Her hand instantly went to her sheath where she kept her sword and thankfully she found it there. She extracted it carefully and at the same time stood up. In a sturdy stance she scanned where she was. It was utterly bizarre, she seemed to be in a some sort of room, but the walls were crafted from something that she had never seen before and there seemed to be images hanging from it. Even the floor she found wasn't right. It seemed to be made of rock, but it was so smooth. She scuffed her bare feet over it, trying to figure out how it could be that smooth. Her eyes turned upwards and found that there didn't seem to be anything above, just the walls seeping into blackness. But there was light, but it wasn't like the light from the sun or from a flame. Where was she?

Marpe's eyes were drawn back to the objects hanging on the mysterious wall. How could there be places inside such a small space? There was one where sand met a vast body of water, another with snow tipped mountains. So many different sceneries that she couldn't not have imagined. It was disorientating and had she not been trained to remain calm and alert during stressing situations she was sure she would have been panicking. Her heart was racing faster than it had been in her initiation. The initiation that had gone so horribly wrong. That's when she raised her right arm, still clutching her sword. It was fully healed, she could move it perfectly. It was like nothing happened. But that man, the foul demon man and damaged it beyond repair. How was it possible?

Deep breaths, in and out, in and out. Maybe this was some sort of dream. Was it possible that she was dead? That she had died from her wounds? It pained her to think that she wasn't strong enough to survive her initiation. Was it possible that she was in the realm of the Goddess? She had never imagined that it would look so strange. She wheeled on the balls of her feet, trying to look at all the pictures, maybe something would show it was in fact the Goddess' realm. Instead she found herself spotting a great antlered beast in one of the pictures. It was like the one she had seen when she was younger. She had always imagined talking one of them down. Maybe this was the Goddess giving her a test to prove herself.

Marpe let out a mighty cry, the battle cry of the Amazonians. It echoed down the hallway. Then she charged at the Elk. Just as she reached the frame, it's large body so close she thrust her sword at it. Instead of it piercing flesh it simply slid into the wall. The Elk unharmed bellowed and then dashed away. What were these strange openings? Where was she? The young warrior could feel her temper rising.

"Where am I?" She cried out to the emptiness.

The last thing Snow remembered was being out in her typical cove of flowers, the little clearing surrounded by a thick wall of ivy that she called her 'secret clubhouse.' Few people knew about it. Father, Phillip, and a few of the children from the village were the chosen ones privileged enough to share her secret. It was the place she went to escape, where she could do anything and be anything she wanted unhindered by criticism and staring eyes. It seemed like no matter how long people knew about her, they still stared like they had never seen anything like her before: the faerie without the wings. It wasn't her fault. She hadn't asked to be born crippled, she just was by some cruel force of nature. But she tried not to think of all that as she awoke and came back to her senses.

Her first thought as she groggily propped herself up with one hand and rubbed her eyes with the other was, "Oh no, I fell asleep again. Father is going to be worried." It was something she did often. It was almost a weekly routine to spend all of her free day hidden away with the animals and plants before accidentally falling asleep. But as she blinked herself awake and took a look around her, she realized the forest was not where she was. Instead, she was in some sort of hallway; it was unlike the stone and wood cottages from her home world. This was very different, cold cut and forever long. It was awash in soft light, but it was certainly nothing like where she had fallen asleep. Was it some sort of hospital? Had Phillip come looking for her and thought something was wrong? But she would have woken up, since she was a light sleeper. So what was this?

She stood up and took a better look around the room, finally noticing the endless paintings that lined the walls. That made absolutely no sense. There were no art museums anywhere near her village, and the one in the city didn't look like this. And where were all the people? She slowly walked towards one section of the wall and stood on her tiptoes to look at one better. She blinked twice. The image was weird. It showed towering buildings the like she had never seen before, all awash in a thousand different colors of light and clustered together with not even a blade of grass in sight. It started to make her a little sick, so she turned away and kept moving down the hallway in hopes that she might find something useful to help her figure things out, her bright blue eyes moving from picture to picture as she went.

Finally she came across one that looked more familiar to her, a large, beautiful painting of a clear lake surrounded by thick berry bushes and dressed in clustering water lilies. In a way, it felt so...real. She timidly brought a hand to the surface and breathed in a sharp breath when it went through like through water. Was this some sort of joke? A dream? That's it, she was just having a very vivid dream. Curiosity took her over. She took a deep breath and put her foot through, then her arm then, as she began to put her face through this strange new doorway, something happened. A small brown rabbit hopped into the portrait, a rabbit that wasn't there before. Snow stopped in her tracks, frozen in fear and amazement at the fact that the picture had moved. But it was short-lived when the rabbit suddenly jumped forward and through the picture, almost hitting Snow in the face before disappearing into another picture. She yelped and jumped back. However, something else shocking happened. Instead of falling onto her butt on the floor, Snow fell up. Another gasp. She craned her head to see a pair of light blue wings, almost clear and seeming to be made out of air.

"Wings!" she cried out in shock. "How?" They were beating quickly and on their own, a pair of beautiful wings that Snow hadn't had before. Finally, she stepped back on the ground and sunk to her knees. She tried to become conscious of them, but it was so surreal. She was sure now, this had to be a dream. From the room, to the paintings, to the wings, it was one impossible surprise after another. But oh, she wished it was real! How easy her life would be if she had wings. Her mother would love her like her father, the other faeries and humans her age would want to be friends with her...she could be accepted and loved. They wouldn't just want to be around her when she sang and healed, or cooked her special cookies. If only they could see her like this...

But her dreams were short lived. Suddenly, she heard a scream from somewhere deep inside the reaches of the room. Scared, but curious at how there could be another person in her dream, Snow stood up and walked briskly towards the direction that the voice came from, both forgetful and scared of her wings. As she walked, she noticed that everything looked the same, but different. Halls gave way to other halls, but their walls were all filled with portraits of so many different things. It seemed like she wasn't making any progress at all. She took a deep breath before calling out as loud as she could, "Hello? Is anybody out there?"

Taking slow, deep breaths Marpe tried to calm herself again. She had let this place get the better of her but no more. What was she supposed to do here? Surely she had been brought here for a reason. She began walking, a brisk stride in any direction. Movement always helped her think. But before she got anywhere a voice from the shadows was heard. It sounded more like a child, not the strong and determined voice of an Amazon. This could not be her Goddess. If not then who? Gripping her sword tighter she began running in the direction of the sound. Marpe was a skilled tracker but even she found it difficult to determine where she was. Regardless, Marpe wasn't one for giving up, so she kept looking, making sure that she was low and silent. It felt like forever and but a moment at the same time. She didn't know how long she had been searching but all of a sudden there were two figures down the end of the corridor. A yelp came from one of them. What was going on? Never one for sneakery Marpe boldly made her way over. She towered above them, even for an Amazon she was immensely tall.

But she could not have expected what she saw as she neared the two. First of all, what had appeared to be a strange construction of light was actually some sort of wings from the girls back. What was this strange creature? But worst of all she was talking to a boy. His hands were moving wildly and while he didn't seem to look dangerous Marpe had heard of tales of evil men using witchcraft. Maybe that was what he was doing, a sort of spell? Either way, she didn't like him. Without thinking, she charged the boy and while could have easily speared him found she couldn't. Her arm refused to obey her but that didn't stop her from grabbing him by the scruff of the neck and lifting him so that he was eye to eye with her. Years of being told men are awful, controlling and manipulative creatures had her wishing she could kill him. But, she saw the blood and the gut wrenching pain in the voice of that terrible man who had permanently damaged her arm. How she so desperately wanted to forget and just harm this boy for being male. But she couldn't bring herself to do it and so she got angry.

"You pathetic male whelp! How dare you speak to this woman like she is your equal! You should be begging and her feet and thanking her that she has allowed you to be in her presence. Men are no more than slaves and should be treated so." She growled fiercly at the boy and dropped him back to his feet. Then she turned to the winged young woman. She was clearly not a hardened woman but she was female none the less. Marpe gave her the traditional greeting which was a fist over her left breast.

"You should not allow this weaker being to think that he is of equal standing to you. Especially since it is so clear that you are blessed by the Goddess."

Daniel started wondering who this women was. He got his notebook out and wrote stuff in it. " Hello do I know you? Perhaps I did something to anger you? Don't you perhaps think that people here are different and tell me would your goddess let a "weaker being" into this place? Don't act violent towards me when you do not know who I am. At least you're used to speaking, i've had to go my whole life without being able to communicate freely. And who are you to judge people? Do you know who I am? Do I look like the people you know? What do you know of my civilizations morales, nothing. Do you know how frustrating it is having to communicate through a notebook?" Daniel slowly regained his composure. " I'm sorry that I lashed out at you like that. But honestly why are you acting so barbaric towards me? Tell me are all women the same? No correct? Then why should you assume all men are the same. Would you so blindly go and murder someone for existing differently then you?

"Well it's a good thing I regained my composure I don't like harming people without understanding what they were raised to believe. Perhaps you can explain to me why you feel I should be treated differently? I'm guessing that where your from people hold prejudices against each other. Here to prove I won't try to attack you I'll show you I have no weapons. If you really wished to kill me you wouldn't have hesitated. " Daniel shows Marpe that he has no weapons. " Can you begin to explain why men are considered your enemies? If you cant then tell me why do you wish to shed the blood of men? How do you know your goddess didn't send you here to show you that some men can be trusted? If you don't want to talk then kill me now and forever live in doubt and regret that you killed me. Your choice, but remember this the choice you make now might haunt you for the rest of your life or it might open your eyes. "

Marpe turned around slowly to face the boy again. Her movements precise as she sheathed her sword and folded her arms. This insignificant boy was actually indignantly speaking to her. She couldn't actually believe he was standing up to her. Some of the woman back home wouldn't even do that. Her narrowed eyes bore deep into him. She wanted him to feel smaller than her and realise that he was not better than her. He was male after all! She listened with closed ears. She couldn't care less about his life and mute was not a crippling problem. One of the finest warriors she knew was a mute. When he came to the part about harming people Marpe couldn't help but bellow out a laugh. It was harsh but she honestly found it hilarious. Did this boy truly think he could harm her?

"HA! Men are all the same. It does not truly matter the slight differences in their personality." But as she said those words she could feel a little twinge as the words of the man echoed in her hand, how he had cared for his fellow men just as she cared for her sisters. She quickly shook her head to rid herself of such blasphemous thoughts. "Oh and how noble it is of you to calm yourself, I would tremble were I stand should I face the wrath of you!" She leaned in closely to his face. "You think you could harm a trained Amazonian warrior such as I?" She stood back and confident that he was no threat began to pace slowly as she talked. "It is typical that you would ask how you are my enemy. Isn't it obvious, men seek only to control us, to dominate us because they believe they are stronger than us. We have never been equal in their eyes, they think us useless and helpless! That we are no good but to giving them children and pleasure. It is our divine right to show that they do not control us, that we have the right to be stronger, better than them! And as for shedding blood, to rid the world of just one weak male is a step towards victory!" That slight twinge inside her stomach clenched again as she thought of the pain and gruesomeness that would inevitably come as a result. Was she really so weak that she couldn't even bear to kill a man any more? "Why am I even explaining this to you? And you and I are not one to assume the Goddess' actions! But I can most definitely assure you that I am here to prove myself. My choices will always be for the greater good of my people and no male can lecture me on choices."

"Hypocrite" " You say we think we're better then women while you act as if you don't patronize men. If you wish to fight i'll gladly fight you, i've been trained in martial arts since I was a child. But I do not wish to fight someone who has a weapon that would be idiotic." " Now tell me, have you ever seen how men interact with each other? I can only speak for myself, but I care for my brothers and sisters as they were me. But you you only care about your sisters. And tell me have you ever seen men equal in your eyes? Exactly, you can't say anything about someone while you do the action you despise yourself. I never saw being mute a disability, instead I see it as a challenge. And tell me why haven't you killed me yet?" Daniel presses her sword against his neck. " You want to know why? You're not sure about your actions, so do not go lecturing me about what you think when you don't think that. You were made to think that. You don't believe that yourself. And tell me have you ever thought if the person you killed suffered? Do you think what they're children will think? Do you think about the pain you cause to people? "

"I've bet you've shed blood without thinking about that, you're the same as the men who you despise so deeply. Isn't that why you hate them? If you're going to tell me that i'm weaker then you. You should get your mind straightened out before you confront me. The strain in your voice proves your not sure. I've tried to understand people before I judge them, you just kill them for being weak or a different sex. And wasn't Hippolyta's father a god? And didn't Antiope fall in love with a male? Wasn't artemis in love with Orion? Now tell me do you honestly believe what your saying or are you blindly spouting words? Do you not see the terribleness your bloodthirstiness causes?"

Snow watched as this new boy quickly wrote in his book and couldn't help but examine all the scribbled doodles and notes in the margins and on on the lines. It made her wonder just how long he had been there, but as she read his new words it didn't sound like he could have been long at all. "Oh, of course!" she said when he offered to go back inside, remembering where they were standing and shivering violently. The snow that had accumulated on her hair and wings melted as they walked in, leaving her a little colder and damper than she wished to be. "No, I'm sorry, I have no idea what this place is. It's so strange though, don't you think? It's a little terrifying." She stared in awe at the drawings he had made. How smart to mark where he had been! He would never get lost.

"I'm a faerie," she answered in regard to his question. "But I'm supposed to be a fairy without wings...I have no idea how these got here." She fluttered the wings a few times for emphasis. "Are you human?" She was curious about why he wasn't used to talking. Everybody on her world could talk. It was strange, this 'sign language' he spoke about. She wondered what type of world he could come from that there was a language for people without words, just signs.

She would have asked him more, but suddenly footsteps caught her attention, and before she realized it, there was a woman between them holding Daniel up and threatening him. Snow was shocked. How could anybody be so violent? Nobody ever made threats or physically harmed others on Utopia (well, at least not normally, but Snow sometimes pushed down on accident as a child). After releasing Daniel, the woman turned towards Snow and asked how she could allow him to stand as her equal.

"U-uhmm, well," she stuttered, a little terrified. "E-everybody is equal. Of course he can stand and talk with me. It's nice just to be in the company of another here." She stared up at the lady, this "Amazonian" as she later mentioned. And all Snow could think was that she was so tall. Of course, being a fairy, Snow was always a little shorter than humans. And even for a fairy she was short (just four feet and eight inches). But this woman towered over her like a tree, and it was scary. And her tone of voice was angry. It rung harshly in Snow's ears, and she took a step back in cowering fear.

Snow watched helplessly as Daniel and the newcomer argued about the genders and equality. The woman seemed to truly despise men, and put herself so highly above them, it made her wonder what could have possibly happened to make her like this. She couldn't really see the words that Daniel was writing, so she was only hearing the words that the Amazonian was speaking. She kept bringing up this goddess. "Could it be that her goddess did bring us here?" Snow thought, pondering all possible explanations to their problem. But it didn't make sense that another persons goddess would bring her to this place, so she dismissed it. And besides, Utopia had no gods or goddesses, only the forces of humans, faeries, and nature itself kept the world in check. Harmony and perfection were the beliefs of the people, that they kept the planet held together in every molecule of every being.

Eventually, Snow could take no more. The two seemed to be getting violent, and the woman's tone only seemed to get fiercer. Daniel's face showed no sign of backing down, and Snow knew that any battle would end poorly for him. She knew that she was small, and her voice only so loud, but she had to try something. So she took a deep breath and forced her wings to carry her off the ground only to shakily fly the foot or so distance and land between them. "Please stop," she cried desperately. "I can see the malice between you two, and I know that you are different. But you need to try and see past that. I don't want to see anybody get hurt." Her small voice had no confidence in it, yet it was laced with courage. "If you'd like, I can sing. Maybe you two can feel better after that and we can all talk and get along," she offered hopefully.

Daniel realized what he was doing and stopped. "Sorry, I just hate being looked down upon." "I think a song perhaps could help."
Daniel began drawing random drawings to keep his mind occupied. "Perhaps we should try to figure out why we're here before we get into arguing. Or maybe we should look around for more people and see if anyone else is here. "Ok so this is what i've mapped out so far. It seems they're are more people around here that marked the same as I did. Perhaps going back there we could find them." As he pulled back his sleeve the letters Απόγονος του Απόλλωνα was tattooed on his hand. " Ok Snow do you remember where you first came to when you came here? And i'm human, and I used to be mute, sign language was created for people who couldn't speak to communicate. When I came here I could speak, but I don't feel right speaking perhaps I could try. And thanks for helping me calm down, I can't really fight I was trained in defense not offense probably would've tired out and gotten killed."

Since this boy had so kindly pressed his own throat against her sword all Marpe did was give it a little more force. She slowly pushed him back, making it deadly sure that he realised he was in a situation where he would get hurt, the blade was pressing hard enough to draw blood. With each sentence she took a step forwards, until they were against the wall, her sword still against his throat and her other hand planted against the sturdy surface just to the side of his head.

"I would watch your words little one. And if you think you can take me on then I will gladly do so, weapons or no." She letting her words sink in before stepping back, her arms spread out as she chucked her sword to the side. "I care for my sisters, my aunts, my mother, my grandmothers! I would protect them with my life and fighting against the plague of men is the greatest honour that I will receive." She stamped one foot and placed her hand over her heart as a sign of respect for her people. Then her eyes turned down again towards the boy. You dare to assume that you know what I think? That I won't kill you? Their deaths will give them redemption in the eyes of the Goddess it is not my concern for them any longer. Do you believe me so cold hearted that I cannot even comprehend pain and suffering? I have seen a great deal of suffering beyond that of a man just dying. The pain and grief of my sisters whose babes have died in their arms, driving them to killing themselves in the most tortuous of ways, slow and merciless. Their screams are not of their pain but of their lost. Those are the screams that will stay with me forever not the screams of a dying, unworthy man!"

She remembered the awful time when three woman had actually committed suicide. It was the most heartbreaking moment of her life, but deep down even she couldn't deny that it had been painful hearing the dying screams of the men. But for the whole of her life being told that men where bad, she would not change her stance easily or quickly no matter what this boy said. Even if he was giving her doubts.

"Oh you are indeed weaker than me, and of all that I am not sure of is where I am! What strain? The only strain is my frustration at your insolence and how is it that you are still daring to accuse me of what I have done. You cannot know such things nor can you attempt to presume. I am a warrior of the Amazons, mighty and fearless I believe that you have underestimated me and presume too much! You believe I am so blindly spouting words? I am beyond judgement from a male. They have lost any rights for equality. Hippolyta was a great Amazonian queen, one who had strength of the Gods! Do not think me stupid to know that you require both a man and woman to create a child, of course she had a father! And I do not know of this Antiope you speak of and as for Artemis she is not a true Amazon, merely a Woman of the hunt. An admirable one at that. So, daring boy, have you had your say? I grow weary of your voice, if you want to settle this, prove that you can at least match me in a fight."

She watches the boy but is suddenly reminded that there was another presence among them when a high voice squealed behind her. The young woman seemed clearly distraught but it didn't hide the hint of courage in her voice. Marpe felt a tiny bit of respect for the small girl. But then was thoroughly confused when she talked about singing. How would singing help?

"Maybe when this male subdues I may relent, but until then he must be shown his place; there will be no 'getting along'." She said firmly, turning back to eye the boy.

"As you wish" Daniel gets ready to use a combination of pressure point hitting and Aikido " Let's not use weapons it'll be more fun this way. " Daniel gets ready to fight and begins by hitting the solar plexus. Then hitting her temple as much as he can to get her unconscious, it appears to do nothing. "What?" Daniel then tries hitting his hand against the wall, nothing. "It appears we can't fight in "Here" perhaps you have a challenge of skills? Can you shoot arrows or ride horses?

Marpe had to admit he was quick, an excellent trait to have, so when he went straight to her solar plexus instead of reacting, she tensed preparing for the blow. Reaction took over and she didn't even notice that it hadn't caused her any pain, instead her arm was already flying up to block his arm that was coming towards her head. She was nearly too late, and she only just managed to catch his arm. She was about to retaliate, he strength flowing straight into a kick that she was going to initiate directly into his kneecap. Instead he just stopped and actually walked away. You don't just stop in the middle of a fight! What caused her to raise her eyebrow was that he went to hit a wall, clearly not hard enough because nothing happened. He turned back to her asking if she wanted a challenge of skills. What she really wanted was to beat the living daylights out of him. Wanting to show her strength she walked up to the wall, prepared herself and with all her might smashed her fist into the wall. Her knuckles should have broken on the impact, but instead the wall only slightly cracked to which when she removed her fist simply repaired itself. What was this madness? It had unnerved her but she still had sense to answer him.

"A challenge of skills? Wrestling? Horse riding? How about the skill to fell a tree?" She wanted a challenge that would be to her advantage, strength was definitely on her side. But they were so different, that really no challenge would put them on equal standing. She turned to the other girl, snow she thought her name was.

"While I would gladly show challenge this one," She careless pointed to his direction, "I would prefer to get out of here. What say you?"

Snow gasped when Daniel started to hit her. He was getting in way over his head with this woman. She so clearly hated him, and that coupled with her size and dominating strength made it clear that he had absolutely no chance. Sure, he seemed like he might be able to hold his own against somebody more on his level. But this woman was a warrior, and he was just a normal human. It was about as pointless as if Snow had tried going up against her. But go up against her he did. She watched his hand fly towards her solar plexus. She covered her eyes and fluttered back a bit, waiting for the sounds of fighting to ensue. She had never seen a fight in her whole life, not even in books or movies. She didn't want to ruin that now. It scared her, but didn't make her curious like the new world she was in and the people she was meeting.

After a little bit of time and only a few muffled thumps and thwacks, nothing else happened. Finally she heard the woman speak about a challenge of skills and opened her eyes, warily moving over to take a peek at Daniel's notebook to see what he had said. No fighting? Well, at least that was a plus. It was as if the world itself was forcing them to get along. Snow breathed a sigh of relief. A show of skills sounded like a much more logical--and safe--conclusion to their bickering than duking it out with their fists. Maybe it could even be a little entertaining, and maybe she could even join in to ride the horses. It would be fun to find a painting with a flock of wild horses in here.

But instead the woman turned to Snow and asked her about getting out of here. "U-uhmm, if you mean find a way out of this world, then yes. It's a little weird here." She looked past her towards Daniel, hesitating to ask about him. "Oh! I almost forgot to ask your name. Mine name is Snow, and I'm a faerie." She fluttered her wings a little. It was still weird to her, but she was starting to really like them. It made her feel satisfied and complete to be able to say what she was with a shake of her icy blue wings, but still a little scary. To think she could fly high in the air like Phillip!

A faerie? She was not sure exactly what that was. Maybe it was like the fabled nymphs, the spirits of the forest? She appeared very earthy and delicate, so it wasn't a far fetched idea. Marpe had never really expected the day when she would come across a mythological creature, there were just stories after all. But it seemed that these people clearly where not of her world. How could they be when the male knew nothing of who she was. Everyone knew of the Amazons and every male either feared them or tried to control them, there was no inbetween. So as a result of him questioning her, she figured he not only didn't understand but it was because he was not of the same world.

At least the faerie, agreed with getting home somehow. But she had to raise an eyebrow when she continued to address the male. Even asking for his name! A scowl formed on her lips but this time she said nothing. If the Goddess would not allow her to harm him, then there must be a reason. Either way she didn't like it. Bored already Marpe went over to where her had thrown her sword. It lay not too far away on the cold stone floor. She took quick powerful strides to reach it and gracefully bent over to pick it up. Manoeuvring the sword so that it lay flat across both her palms, she gazed into the dull metal. A stern reflection gazed back at her, dark eyes boring into her. Her initiation paint was still streaked across her eyes and it made her both slightly sad and angry. With a swift flick she sheathed her sword, unable to look at herself further and not wishing to think what might be going on back home.

She turned back to the Snow and the boy. She could either leave them and venture this place on her own which she wouldn't have minded, but as an Amazon she was sworn to protect all women, leaving her with no choice but to stay with Snow, even though that meant with the boy as well. She marched back over, eyeing the floating girl with slight suspicion, but she had closed her eyes when they had been about to fight so she supposed she didn't really pose a threat. She was growing impatient, she needed to be on the move again.

"We need to be moving again. I want to understand why we are here..." But she trailed off as her eyes focused on one of the pictures just beyond Snow. The same rolling hills and evergreen forest that she had grown up with. Her home was right there. She beelined straight towards it, desperation making her even swifter. As she stopped in front of the frame she was able to see that not only was it the same scenery but even the village was there, she could actually see people moving too! She tentatively reached out her hand. The image rippled slightly on her touch, causing her to flinch back. But undeterred she pushed forwards again, this time her whole hand went through. She gasped and looked back to Snow.

"This is my home." She looked longingly towards it but she still felt that sense of protection towards the delicate girl. She couldn't exactly leave her, her honour would not allow it.

Trying to finally speak words Daniel tried. "This feels strange being able to freely communicate, I doubt i'll get used to it. But anyways my name is Daniel, I come from a planet called earth." Daniel proceeds to draw skyscrapers and cars and things in the modern world. " Snow can you draw what your world looks like? And i'll give you a copy of the map I made." Daniel begins to draw furiously a copy of the map he made. " Ehh, i'll give you the original."
" I really hope there are more people in this world, I want to know the exact reason i'm here. I think we should go around the X I didn't mark maybe the person who marked it is still there."
Daniel begins to run and drops his wallet containing a picture of him his sister and parents all smiling for a photo.

Daniel walks calm and collected already brushing off the encounter he had earlier. He got his Ipod out and started listening to music while wearing headphones, remembering about the people he met earlier he asked them a question. " Do you want to listen to music while we explore, or would you rather not? I have spare Ipods and headphones. Wait do you even know what an Ipod or headphones are? "
Daniel rubbed his eyes. " Huh, this is strange i'm seeing two different things. I see my bedroom and this world at the same time, are you guys seeing this too? " Daniel didn't like this it was disorientating. "I don't like this it's too disorientating. "
"Wait if these paintings are portals to specific locations and times, perhaps I can leave something in one of them and come looking for it in the world I came from, for example if I left my phone in the ground in one of the paintings perhaps I can find it with a GPS system back home, but I'm going to have to find a power source for it, or perhaps I can make a geothermal generator to power it. Yes, that seems like a good idea." Daniel then sketches blueprints for a machine to power his cellphone so he can find it in his normal world. " So, I'm guessing I won't really have to leave here since I can see both in my world and this world simultaneously." Daniel smiled. " My plan should work unless these paintings only create an area similar to specific areas, to travel to. " Daniel pondered something. " Snow do your people have any more efficient means to create electricity? "

Trelore knew something was wrong, or at least different the moment he gained consciousness. He didn't open his eyes straight away preferring to let himself concentrate and find what was missing. First off he didn't have that constant almost haziness in his mind. His thoughts were actually sharper and little details like the cold hard floor against his back weren't just disappearing as soon as he thought about it. The next thing he noticed was that he didn't feel as heavy. The burden and grief that he carried at all times seemed to be partially lifted. He still had a sadness and sort of emptiness but it wasn't crippling and for the first time in a very long time he felt happy. Then he opened his eyes. He was staring straight up into blackness, but his peripheral vision showed ornate frames with an array of different images inside. They seemed to be illuminated but he couldn't see from where.

Sitting up and rising to his feet Trelore looked around, examining the place that he had just awoken to. It was just a long corridor, lined with hundreds of pictures. His handsome brow creased as he walked over to one of the pictures that was of the seaside. He reached a hand out to graze what he thought was artwork, only to be surprised when his hand disappeared into it. He wasn't startled or anything, but he did raise his brow in interested amusement. Where was he? But just then his ears pricked up as he could hear the faint echoes of voices. There were others here. He gracefully made his way in the direction he thought they were.

A few minutes of searching and he came across what seemed to be a young boy, a very striking and rather dangerous looking woman with her hand in a painting and a girl with stunning wings. He stayed to the shadows, unsure whether he should appear to them or not.

***

Marpe was still ignoring Daniel, instead focusing on Snow. But then she tensed. It was as if there was someone else here too. She had always had a sort of heightened sense when someone was looking at her. She glanced down both ways of the corridor and saw that in fact amidst the shadows was a tall slender figure. She slowly stepped away from the picture frame and drew her sword again. Putting herself between Snow and the stranger she raised the sword towards him.

"Show yourself!" She called out.

***

Guess he had no choice now. Trelore stepped out of the shadows, his hands raised to show he meant no harm.

"Please, forgive me for hiding. I mean no harm." His musical voice, strong but at the same time had a soft, enchanting ring to it. But he saw the woman's eyes narrow, and saw that she didn't seem to relax. He decided that appealing to her with just his voice was no the way to go. "My name is Trelore. I seem to have found myself here and I'm not entirely sure where Here is."

***

Great another male. But he was clearly much older and different to the young boy that Marpe had first met. When he spoke she felt a bit of herself tingle and almost wished to trust him. But she pushed it down and kept staring at him. He was unlike she had ever seem before. Stunning beyond imagination with a lean muscular body that even she could appreciate. What was she thinking?!

"We do not know, that is what we are trying to figure out. It seems that we can enter the images. Perhaps if you find your home in one of the frames and enter it you can return home." She said standoffishly, not lowering her sword but starting to walk back to her village.

"That would make sense." The man called Trelore said calmly. He made no effort to move and didn't seem in the slightest bothered with her still holding a weapon against him. She watched him ponder for a moment. "It seems, that we are all drawn from not only different times, but different worlds." She heard him mutter to himself. "Maybe there are more of us here." He said louder and addressing it to both of them. While that was most likely true Marpe was more interested in going home than meeting more people. Then he seemed to realise he had forgotten something. "I apologies, how rude of me, but I didn't even ask of your names."

Marpe didn't know what to make of this man. So completely different from the brutes back home and the young Daniel boy. He had a way with words, something she did not. But regardless, she would tell him anyway, she was not one to hide.

"I am Marpe, warrior of the Alkaia tribe." Her words rang with pride.

***

It seemed this woman, Marpe, was a warrior, clearly a very apt one at that. He allowed the other faerie woman to reply before speaking.

"Would I be rude in asking whether you would like to join me in finding others, so that maybe we can discover as to why we are here." He spoke delicately, so as not to seem intruding. Marpe didn't speak, instead he watched as she walked over to a frame that held a picturesque view of a valley with a village in the distance. She pointed at it.

"This here is my village. I wish to go through it and return home." She spoke with sternness but he could hear the desire in her voice.

"It would indeed be a blessing to return home, but surely there must be a reason that we are here. Returning home, I don't believe could be that simple." He wasn't being harsh with his words, just simply stating what he believed. He could see the warrior woman's mouth set in a tight line. She clearly did not like hearing that, but he could also see that she hesitated. A sad smile hinted at his lips. "I'm sorry." He said as he saw her lowering her sword.

Marpe growled again and stalked past him. "Come now, if you don't keep up I'm leaving you both." She called over her shoulder as walked into the darkness. Trelore looked at the faerie girl.

"Well, I guess we should get going."

Daniel forgetting he could talk made a bunch of signs in sign language saying. "Hello. My name is Daniel, pleased to meet you and what race and planet are you from? From the time i've been here i've learned that not everyone here is from the same time or planet. I'm not even sure how, but it seems I can talk, oh wait." Daniel trying to talk "I'm pretty sure I'll never get used to speaking. I'll repeat what I signed. My name is Daniel, pleased to meet you and what race and planet are you from? From the time i've been here i've learned that not everyone here is from the same time or planet." Daniel showed Trelore the map he drew and the things he figured out from this strange world, like how you can go through paintings and your disabilities are fixed. "

"You seem to be holding some emotional weight. Am I correct, you don't have to tell me what it is if you don't want to. We only just met anyways, I doubt you'd trust me that easily." Daniel knew this from studying body language. "Perhaps I can relieve some of the stress on your body by pressing some pressure points for you, if that's fine with you. And by the way I was mute before I came here so i'm guessing since I don't see any physical disabilities, i'm guessing that your disability is emotional. " Remembering the man's question. " Oh, and I was planning to look for more people anyways let's follow them shall we?" Daniel smiled at the new company.

As Trelore made to follow Marpe he suddenly found the boy walking beside him. He was making signs with his hands as if trying to communicate. Back home his people had something similar but they were able to give themselves a voice inside someones head with a series of hand gestures. Trelore raised an amused eyebrow as it seemed the boy remembered he could speak. He talked incredibly fast and it was a wonder that he didn't faint from lack of breath. He was like an energetic child, eager for attention. He heard Marpe make a rude sound up ahead and he figured that she did not like him. He was definitely a handful.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Daniel." Trelore started out slowly as he was still taken aback by the brashness and just general up-in-your-face approach the boy had. "Your very direct you know that?" He said jokingly. "Well, since you seem so interested my people are Elves and my home is called Ixus."

But what disturbed Trelore the most about this strange boy was that he had come out claiming that Trelore was carrying emotional weight. Trelore had given nothing away, how had this boy known what was deep inside of him? That was when he became more closed off towards him.

"Daniel, you must realise that if physical disabilities are healed here than how can you assume that I didn't have one?" He shook his head but kept following Marpe. At this point he would rather talk to the warrior woman whom at least wasn't so out there. Even the quiet faerie girl, she seemed delicate and polite similar to his own people.

"I'm sorry." Said Daniel a bit sad. "If you don't wish to speak about it then don't, and usually you can tell someone's disability by the way they move and their body language, but since I'm guessing you have a different physiology that I have to take that into consideration. " Daniel seemed less energetic then he was before. " In all seriousness, do you know where we are or the reason we're here? "
Daniel hoped the man knew anything about their current situation. " Good, they can't see past to my facade, I don't trust them enough to reveal what I have written in my notebook." Daniel thought to himself. "How did that get into my notebook anyways, I didn't write it there. " Daniel let that slip, but quickly said " Ignore what I just said, I was just thinking to myself. " No one seemed to notice that he said anything. Daniel felt it would be better that way.

Daniel walked slowly trying to observer as much as he could from his surroundings. He had to jot this information down so he would remember and could perhaps help the new people that came here with it. "Hey you guys I feel a bit tired I think somethings wrong with me. I'll just lay down in one of the paintings, you guys go on ahead. " Daniel then went into a painting depicting a clearing with only trees and grass swaying. He laid down and tried to gather his thoughts
1. He came into a world or hub, more like awakened here.
2. In here you are able to go through paintings depicting a piece of land and time.
3. I have no idea how long the stay here is or even if there is a limit.
4. It seems people here have a different physiology.
5. People don't seem to like me talking, so I'll stick to writing on paper to limit the rambling I do, it will be much more time effecient.
6. No one seems to know what is happening here.
Daniel got his most important notes into that list. "Finally some peace and quiet no one to bother me, or threaten to kill me. I might actually enjoy this place, it seems nice and peaceful. No worrying about anything. " Daniel got up and expected there to be a fridge next to him. " Crap, I think I won't ever fully enjoy this place. " Daniel laid on the ground not worrying about anything just looking up thinking about what to next. "There's nothing to do now, besides wait for someone to pass by. Heck I might even get to try my experiment. " Daniel laughed, who was he kidding he was no scientist he didn't know how to build a energy generating machine. "It would be really wonderful if someone who knew about machinery appeared here. " Daniel decided not to worry about anything and just lay down and relax, he's had enough action for one day, if time even meant anything here. Daniel quickly returned to the group.

Marpe was busy ignoring the two men behind her that she almost didn't hear the voices again. She just heard faint echoes and not halting her step, followed with single minded determindness to find these other people. The quicker she did so hopefully the quicker she could go home. Twisting through corridor after corridor, oblivious to all the different pictures on the way, only one goal on mind. The voices where getting louder and from what she could hear they sounded young.

Trelore on the other hand wasn't struggling to catch up but he was still a few steps behind, his own ears picking up the voices and his interesting sparking. Then as he followed Marpe around one more corridor he found her halted. He looked around her shoulder to find a some people stepping into one of the pictures. Marpe was already walking over to the picture that they just disappeared into, it was a large expanse of glistening water filled with an array of different colour fish. Trelore stepped beside Marpe to look up into the scene. They said nothing for a moment, both rather intrigued. Then Marpe snapped out of it and began making her way into the picture.

"Wait!" Trelore exclaimed, not wanting to be left behind. He turned to Daniel. "Come on then!" He said, an encouraging smile accompanied with an extended hand for the boy to take.

Marpe eased into the water, somewhat unsure but once finding that she didn't require breath pushed her whole body through. It was a bit of a challenge but she finally managed it. It was incredible. Never had she imagined being under the water. There were multicoloured fish that she had never dreamt of before. It had amazed her so much that she was too awestruck to call out to the people they were following. Trelore while equally amazed was able to spot the two and call out to them, although it came out as a warble and nearly unrecognisable sound. But it was a sound none-the-less.

"Hey!" He called out, waving his hand.

In the silence of the underwater world Eden heard someone. Turning her head slowly her eyes fell on two new comers. One was... Well she looked like a sky scraper compared to herself and the other one did as well. She smiled and the smile turned into a grin. "HELLO~" She waved happily and began to walk over to the strange man who had said Hey. It was weird walking underwater... Sorta like walking in a place with lots of gravity and none at the same time. But somehow she managed to make her way to the new comers her golden hair floating around her long and slightly annoying as it tickled her skin. "hia my name is Eden~ Whats yours???" The words were difficult to understand probably with the amount of bubbles escaping her mouth but she hoped the person would understand.

Nathan listened to the girl's explanation of her home world, his visible expression not changing as she talked about the giant bugs and the sulfur fields. It was all amazing to hear and had thus far been the most outlandish thing he'd heard since arriving in Here. He looked over his shoulder from the very corner of his eye from time to time as to not draw attention, getting a good look at her as they went down the hall. While he initially thought she was just a human with an interest in plants and a somewhat wild imagination, a closer look made it very obvious she wasn't just quite human. Her hair was unusually smooth looking and gave off the same light as her skin that in itself didn't look the exact same as flesh and blood. Subtle differences but she'd stick out like a sore thumb back in Kurn even if she did have an almost offensively positive attitude. As he watched her a bit more he noticed some of the more subtle emotions she was displaying, even a moment of genuine sadness. The worst part was the obvious pity in her eyes that she made no attempts to hide, even when they met. It gave Nathan a bizarre mix of annoyance and appreciation he couldn't quite explain. As insulting and unnecessary the gesture was, it was never one people could afford back home. That's what made Here such an interesting place to be. As well as a painful place to stay.

When they entered the hall the girl instantly found herself enthralled with one of the pictures and without any warning she jumped right into it. Nathan sighed quietly as he closed his eyes and rubbed his forehead with a hand. "She has energy, at least. Still deciding if that's good or bad," he mumbled to himself as he leaned his back against a blank stretch of wall and waited as he continued to massage his temples, making no attempt to follow in after her. Paintings like that made him uncomfortable, stuffing people into tight or compressed space. Despite her perfectly safe was, Here still had the potential to cause worry. As he minutes ticked on by in his head he began to hear voices. He cracked one eye open as a group of three wandered right into the hall and went into the painting after Eden, paying no mind to the boy with the gas mask. "Glad to see people are just as willing to ignore me here as they are in my world," he said quietly to himself, not a trace of sarcasm in his voice.
