Description

ImageName:
Emily Anne Mitchell

Nicknames:
For the most part she doesn't have any nicknames, but she lets Tyler call her Em

Age:
17

Birthday:
December 12

Sexual Orientation:
Straight

Height:
5'6"

History:
For as long as she can remember, Emily has lived in foster homes. She bounced from house to house as a kid, never getting a chance to settle down in any one place for very long. Although some of the families were kind, most of them could care less about what happened to the kids living in their homes. Emily has no idea who her real parents are or even where she was born because her records were always sealed.
Moving around so much it was difficult to make friends. After a while she just stopped trying all together, she was never outright mean to anyone, but she never got close enough to get hurt. When she was twelve a boy named Tyler moved into the house she was living in at the time. His parent's had recently been killed in a terrible car accident and it was his very first foster home. Over the years they lived in several houses together, or wound up in homes near each other. It was a strange occurrence for two siblings to be kept together for so long, let alone two complete strangers. Eventually they became best friends, ally's, and most importantly, family.

So begins...

"What do you think?" Emily said, staring at the house. It was old and appeared to be falling apart, but they needed to find a place to stay soon.

"It looks better than camping out in the woods." Said Tyler as he tried to figure out what Emily was thinking. He wasn't like her, she'd been in some sort of foster care her entire life, he'd only been there for a few years. He looked down at her, "I'll go if you'll go." He said.

She looked up at him for a long moment, "you know there's no turning back now, right?" She asked. It was true. It had been true for a while, but something about the house made everything seem so final. They could never go back again.

Tyler nodded, "let's go." He put a protective arm around Emily's shoulder as they walked up to the house. It looked even worse up close than it had from a distance. The porch was falling apart and there were scattered piles of shattered glass from broken windows on the ground. There was a girl standing outside greeting people. "Is there any more space available?" Tyler asked. He felt more useful when Emily let him pretend he was in charge so she let him take the lead most of the time.

Emily looked up at what she hoped would be her next house, although she had little expectations of it every becoming a home. The concept of home was so foreign to her that she had given up on it years ago. Tyler on the other hand was still desperately trying to find his.

Lacey:
Lacey smiled, "Yeah, If you want I can show you some rooms. We have about four to a room here. Come on, I'll show you around the place." She had taken over the leading role in the home while the owners were out. She knew that the people might be a bit cautious, hell she was terrified of living with new people when she was used to dirty park benches and... well everything pretty much.

Cody:
Cody moved closer to the house after watching what looked like a couple approach it. He decided to follow this girls little tour and find out what he could before he committed to staying here. He didn't really NEED a place to stay, he's been homeless since he was 13.

Jenna listened to the people talking and decided to follow them into the home. She just wanted a place to have her baby safely.

Emily followed the girl up the porch steps and into the house with Tyler close behind. In her mind they were like brother and sister, looking out for each other and always being there. He had always hoped there would be something more one day.

Although the house looked like it was falling apart it was actually pretty stable. "So how does this work?" Tyler asked. For the majority of his life he had basically been the only child of a wealthy couple, before spending a few years in foster care. He had never lived a day on his own in his life, until he ran away with Emily that is. Emily on the other hand had been in the foster care system her entire life. She was used to spending nights in the park to get away from a bad family or squatting for a week or so in a foreclosed house.

Lacey:
Lacey smiled at the people who were gathering. She led them to the living room first, " So, this is where you can do whatever you want, the kitchen is around the corner and the first hall of rooms is right here." She led them to a long hallway and stared down it, then she began to walk through it.

Jenna:
Jenna had to stop behind the group, she wondered if anyone noticed. She bent forward to easy the pain. Her pack slid off her shoulder and onto the wood floors with a loud thud. She let out a pained moan as her knees buckled under her. She let her mind run wild, what if something is wrong with the baby?

Emily watched as the scene played out, frozen in place. She wanted to help, but she knew nothing about medicine or babies or pregnancy. "What do we do now?" She whispered to Tyler without taking her eyes off of the girl crying out in pain. He stood there for a minute but couldn't come up with anything.

"I don't know," he whispered back, "whenever people give birth on t.v. they make it look so easy." He said. He had watched plenty of hospital shows growing up but the births always happened in the hospital.

A girl walked in carrying a baby and Tyler hoped she would be able to help. "Do you know anything about delivering babies?" He asked, hoping the child was hers and the answer would be yes.

Tyler tried to stay as calm as he could. He took the small towel and headed into the kitchen to wet it as he had been instructed. The water felt warm on his hands so he turned it down but it became unbearably cold. "How cold is too cold" he muttered to himself. Finally he found a good temperature and brought the towel back to the girl. "I hope this is all right" he said.

Emily still felt pretty useless but it didn't look like there was anything she could do to help so she just took a few steps back to give them some space.

Jenna:
Jenna clenched her jaw and looked up at the people painfully, the whole ordeal was very big for her first day there. She shook her head, " No, I- I don't know." She had never been to the doctor, "Maybe 8 months." She let out a cry of pain when a shooting pain shot up through her body. She looked down between her legs and saw the blood that had begun to pool under her, " Is the baby going to be okay?" She asked scared.

Cody:
Cody brushed Jenna's hair back and smiled at Mei, "You're doing great" He moved Jenna to be half sitting up, "We need someone on each side to hold her feet, and Mcenna can take the center. I'll sit behind you, Jenna. And Jenna-" He moved behind her, "Just breath." He knew it was not the best situation, but it had to be done. The nearest hospital was not for another fourty minutes drive.

"Oh my God" Emily said unsure of what to do. No one had taken Jenna's other leg yet, but Emily wasn't sure if she could handle it. She closed her eyes and inhaled slowly, you can do this she told herself. Putting on the strongest face she could, she knelt at Jenna's side, held her leg and smiled in an effort to comfort the girl.

Tyler put a comforting hand on the girls shoulder, "every things going to be okay." He hoped his voice wasn't shaky, but he couldn't tell for sure. "I'm Tyler by the way." He said.

Tyler laughed, "yeah no kidding, we were debating on whether or not to come in here earlier. I said it was better than sleeping in the park but I'm not so sure anymore..." He'd never seen anyone give birth in the park.

Emily held tight to Jenna's leg, doing her best to keep a reassuring smile on her face. "You're doing great" she said, although she had absolutely no idea if it was true or not. She decided it would be better to keep her mouth shut then make things up so she kept quite after that.

As soon as Cody took Jenna out of the room Emily backed up into a wall and sunk down to the floor. She had never seen a birth before. Tyler walked over and sat down on the floor next to her, "Good job doctor" He said and laughed.

She smiled, "that was terrifying, where were you?" She asked. The whole ordeal was kind of a blur in her mind.

"I stood over in the corner examining the wall" He said as he stood up, "c'mon we better go pick beds before they all fill up." He held his hand out and helped Emily up.

Emily looked around, unsure of how to pick a room. Everybody else just seemed to be putting their belongings on random beds so Emily walked down the hallway until she found an empty one. "Wait," she said turning back to Tyler, "is it girls in one room boys in another, or does it not matter?" He shrugged his shoulders and looked around for the girl who had given the tour.

Emily and Tyler walked around the house looking into the rooms. They decided the second floor was preferable, so they chose a large room at the end of a hallway on the second floor. There were four beds in the room, and each had a large trunk at the base. "This one's perfect!" Emily said, plopping down onto the bed next to the large window. She took her pack back off and put it on top of the trunk. "What do you think?" She asked looking to Tyler for approval.

"As long as I have a bed, I'm happy." He said as he threw his backpack down on the bed on the other side of the window. Beneath the window was a small bedside table with a single lamp. Tyler opened the window to let some fresh air in. The window led out onto a section of the roof, he smiled, "I think I just found your favorite part of the house Em" he said. Ever since he had met Emily she had always loved sneaking out onto rooftops. She said it made her feel safe, a good place to clear her head.

"I just hope we get some cool roommates" she said, glancing over at the two empty beds.

After composing herdelf selena wandered into Emily and tyler's room. She leaned on the door fame and smiled sheepishly then ran a hand through her hair making it fall like a veil. Once her cheeks went back to their natural color she asked,
"Hey can I room with you guys?" so far tyler was the only person she felt comfortable. she bit her lip ( another nervous habbit, she has many)

"Yeah, definitely" Tyler said, "make yourself at home." He kicked his shoes off and sat on his bed with his back against the wall.

"I'm Emily by the way." Emily said, smiling at the girl standing in the doorway. She was glad there would be another girl in the room, in her last foster home she had been the only girl in the house at all. She had always kind of gotten along better with guys than girls anyways, but being stuck in a house with four boys was overwhelming.

"Serena" She said setting her luggage on the bed. SHe blushed bright red, here was the hard part. It always was, showing up at foster homes with luois vitton luggage and it being full of designer clothes. She opened up the biggest luggage (she has a 3 part luggage set) and carefully took out her grandmothers necklace and put it on. Her grandmother was the only person in the whole wide world (at least her family)she was close to. But her nana was in Paris so she could'nt live with her. She reached in her duffel and prayed her depression pills did'nt rattel. Then she shoved that under the bed. Next she shoved the biggest one under her bed and left the other one beside her bed. She then pulled her hair in a ponytail and flopped on the bed. She sighed contently feeling like a small child and sat up so she could look at emily and tyler "So whats your story?" she asked then clarified her queston "Everyone here has a story or they would'nt be here"

Emily glanced at Tyler as Serena opened up her fancy luggage. She wasn't really sure how a girl living in a place like this could possibly afford stuff like that, but she didn't ask. All Emily had to her name were the contents of her backpack and the clothes she was wearing.

"I've been bouncing around the system for as long as I can remember." She said. "I guess I must have had parents at some point, but I've given up my hopes of trying to find them." It wasn't much of a story but it was all Emily had. When she was little she used to pretend her foster parents were just baby sitters and that her parents would be coming to pick her up soon.

Tyler looked down at his hands, pretending to be fascinated by an old scar or something. "My parents died when I was twelve," he said, "I didn't have any family to take me in so I wound up in foster care." He didn't really like talking about his past, it made him uncomfortable. "What about you?" He said looking up at Serena, "what's your story?"

Serena tilted her head back and sighed. "My family is around they send me money, pay for my exspenses but they dont want me and I dont want them so we avoid eachother." she leaned against her pillows and pretended the fraying sides caught her attention.
" My dad is a lying, cheating bastard. My mom is a workaholic, cold, bitch" she sighed "They married for money, not love, my mom was a gold digger and my dad was a as I said a bastard" She paused to think "I used to live with my grandma but she travels the world alot so I decided this was better than staying in her big empty house. Plus I cant live with my parents" SH bit her lip "I was basically shunned because of my problems with depression. My house is literally hell my mom made me hate my body so I became bolemic and she hated me when I stopped, and my dad was never home, he was always at the office or with his mistresses" She laughed "So I guess I fit the bill of poor little rich girl." Then when she remembered EMily looking at the luggage she explained "Usually I use the money for food, hotels, and clothes but all of these, the luggage, necklace, clothes, ect is from my nana so I couldn't bear to let it go" she sat back up and smiled and shrugged then to lighten the mood she tilted her head and sung "What does'nt kill you makes you stronger"

Emily sprang up off her bed, "I'm starving, anyone else?" She looked at Serena then at Tyler, who nodded. She didn't really have to ask, Tyler was always hungry.

"You hungry?" Tyler asked looking at Serena.

((There's still an empty bed in the room Emily Tyler and Serena are in if either of you want it :) ))

"I'm going to go get some water or something" Emily said, and headed down towards the kitchen. There was way more food than she expected, but for some reason she wasn't really hungry anymore. She grabbed a water bottle from the fridge and walked out onto the porch. "This would be a good place for a porch swing" she said aloud to herself. She didn't even notice the guy walking towards the house until after she said it, woops.

Mike walked ahead, too focused on the house to see the girl who came onto the back porch. She said something to herself, something about a porch swing, and Mike ducked into the shadows of the house wall with a quiet curse. He hoped she hadn't seen him. Mike looked around. The only way out of her sight was by going up the wall. Using a drainpipe as leverage, Mike started his silent journey up the side of the wall.
