OBSESSED ❖ DELUSIONAL ❖ SELF-SACRIFICIAL
Leon worships strength in every sense of the word, which is why he insists on paying close attention to his physique as well as spending hours each day trying to improve his control over his power. He is always dieting in one shape or form, as his followers will be aware, and can often be found reading books on the subject of self-improvement. He treats himself as a project not yet finished, and pushes himself to the limits of what a human being can handle, in order to become stronger.
From an outsider's, objective, perspective, Leon is a lot like your average cult leader. Charming, a good conversational partner, a good listener, a man who easily gains the trust of people around him and seems to deliver on his promises as long as they serve his cause in the long run. He has an infinite love for his followers and seems almost self-sacrificial in his protection of them, even though most of them are fully able to take care of themselves.
He has a mild temper, almost pedagogic in his treatment of other people, and can be perceived as a rather charming, outgoing man. However, it's clear that he has some issues brewing beneath it all, and when the right buttons are pushed, he can become violent. He is also frightfully determined in the pursuit of his goal and has been known to snap at people around him if things are moving too slowly for his liking.

The discovery of his power at a young age was, all in all, not an overly dramatic affair. It was more of a slow burn kind of deal, where his inability to take care of houseplants seemed to spin out of control. He didn't overthink it until the garden itself seemed unable to withstand his presence, despite his mother's best efforts. Leon went away for a week to a friend's house and when he came back the garden seemed a lot better. Given his living situation it wasn't long before he was accused of being the devil. Surprisingly, his calm and otherwise level-headed family turned on him, and called one of the more... traditional priests.
The exorcisms came first. Obviously not horrible in themselves, as there was no demon to remove and no real pain in having some holy water splashed in your face by a screaming priest, but to a young man the scene was rather traumatic. Repetition made it worse. Then there were the looks, of course, the way they spoke to him, and spoke about him, when they thought he wasn't listening. It was maddening. Leaving wasn't a hard choice. Finding the Safe Haven was worse. It's not the kind of thing you can just ask for, and so he found it rather by chance, shortly after its creation.
