As she talked they turned another corner and could now see the hospital at the end of the street. He smiled and responded "Well, it still sounds like it's pretty exciting. Anyway, if it didn't have any difficulties it probably wouldn't seem as great. It's cool you get to hang out with a bunch of magic users and people with powers, and don't worry to much, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it soon." When she talked about her story and how it was a research into a link between insanity and crime rate, he got a bit more serious. "The rise in crime rate... Your referring to Big Sniper aren't you? Well if you find any information on him or his whereabouts I'd appreciate if you could tell me, I'm usually at the park or at the sandwich shop on third street. Also, do you know of anyone who can help people with certain... Jobs?" He said as they stopped at the door to the hospital.

Jason leaned against the back of his car as Allan approached and knocked on the front door of Mackenzie's home. He folded his arms and let out a small yawn. He fought the urge to light a cigarette, as he kept his arms folded and unmoving.

"Heh, maybe Rachel is right; maybe I do smoke a little too much."

The detective had noticed that his cravings were slowly becoming more and more frequent, but that usually happened whenever he was working on a tense case. This whole Mackenzie thing, plus Allan having magic abilities was more than enough to send his adrenaline going. He had so many questions to ask him later, but for now he had to focus. Lives were on the line.

After waiting for a bit, he heard Allan call to him.

"Hey Jason, The guy isn't answering the door. Looks like something happened in there."

Jason let out a small sigh. Here comes the complications.

He walked over to Allan's side and drew one of his handguns, stun rounds at the ready, and and reached for the doorknob. He nodded towards Allan, then towards the door to signal that he was about to break in.

"Alright. Three, two, one...!"

Jason's plan was to turn the doorknob and ram his shoulder into the door to break in. What he didn't know is that the door wasn't locked, so the small amount of force he put on the handle when he grabbed it opened the door slightly. He couldn't stop his momentum as he collided with the door and stumbled inside. With a yelp of surprise, he fell face down onto the carpet with a dull thud.

His pride hurt more than his face as he made no attempt to recover.

"Why didn't you tell me the door wasn't locked?!" He asked Allan, his voice slightly muffled by the carpet.

Jason slowly picked himself up and grabbed his gun, rubbing the ache away in his nose.

"Let's just search the place..."

Allan looked over his shoulder to see Jason coming up, gun in hand, to go inside. He just sort of casually stood by while Jason got ready and kicked open the door only to land on his face.

"Why didn't you tell me the door wasn't locked?!"

"Didn't know it wasn't." He just shrugged his shoulders, stepping over Jason while entering the house. "Let's just search the place..."

Looking around it was a fairly ordinary middle class home for one occupant. The front door connected to a hallway which was open on the right leading into the living room. Further down the hall there was a set of doors, two on the left and one on the right. The hall ended at a kitchen where the backdoor was situated. Allan went to investigate the living room first since there were some details he wanted to get a better look at.

First thing he noticed was that a lamp was knocked over. It was a tall stand light with a spherical glass cover designed to illuminate bigger rooms such as this one. It was also undamaged for the most part revealing that it was more likely to have been shoved over rather than having been struck. Another detail which had caught his eye was the cracked television. Taking a closer look he saw the reason behind the damage: A bullet hole in the glass from which all the crack lines originated.

Evidently someone had taken a shot at Mackenzie here. What was confusing was that when he looked back at the window there was no damage to the glass there. Looking back to the television he suddenly had an idea. Without stating his reason aloud he went and leaned the flat screen forward to see the wall behind it. The bullet impact on the wall deviated slightly upwards from the hole in the television. This detail obviously meant that the shooter had to have been shooting from the direction of the window. Slightly less obvious was that it meant the shooter was shorter than Mackenzie as the shooter was aiming up as opposed to just straight on or downward.

Allan noticed a cell phone on the ground next to a coffee table. Since they were searching the place he figured he might find some details on there so he picked it up. Most of it was just standard fair for a rather boring character but then something really stood out when he looked over at a tab down in the corner of the screen. It had a little alert indicating that it had sixty six unread messages. "Yikes, this guy had a lot of unread text messages... All of which were sent in the span of a single minute... Fifteen minutes ago." He observed as he went to the text logs and scrolled down the list of sent texts.

He walked over to Jason and showed him the phone he was just looking at. "Take a look at this. All these messages are just winky faces." He held the phone up to him, pointing to one of the messages mentioned. He was one hundred percent right in his observation. Every single message was the same, just a single semicolon and right parentheses per message with nothing else to say. To make things weirder the phone number for each message was 626-666-666-6.

Whoever was behind these messages definitely had an odd sense of humor.

Shino was rather taken aback when she heard Jace mentioned the Big Sniper. As far as she knows, he was only really known to a select few even within the police force. The only reason she heard of him is thanks to Risaya's connections.
"Though, I suppose he's garnered quite the reputation now."
Thinking on the spot, she managed to come up with an explanation.
'Well, yes and no. The Big Sniper killings will be covered but not extensively. This research will just mostly deal with the reasons why people with possible hints of insanity suddenly find the urge to vent, hence the connection to the crime rate. Big Sniper will probably just be used as an example or a possible link to the incidents."
The boy with her also inquired about some jobs and possible information regarding the killings.
"Hmmm...Our school will probably make it public only after submission. It's a bit regretful but, this information will have to stay with the school after I pass it. Sorry..."
Shino muttered a short apology, smiling a bit as she did.
"Although, I can probably photocopy it...well, let's just wait and see."
She wasn't sure if she fully understood what he said about jobs though. Is he looking for some sort of employment? Shino thought about recommending him to Risaya but, Risaya herself is too wary in letting anyone inside the lair. If he was looking for someone to hire and do a job for him, well--the two kind of have their hands full right now.
"Well, what "job" are you referring to? Are you looking for work? Or, do you just need someone to hire to do a bunch of stuff."
Shino inquired further, awaiting further clarification.

Jason walked into the kitchen and looked around. Nothing seemed to be out of order, although the place was kind of bland looking. They say you can tell someone's personality by looking at their home. By his guess, this guy was just your average joe.

He rooted around in several drawers and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. There had to be proof of his disappearance somewhere. He couldn't of just gone out for a walk and forgot to lock his door, could he? No chance; the guy practically barricaded his home and refused to leave. So where was he?

Right before he was about to ask Allan if he saw anything, he walked over and showed him a phone with lots of text messages, all with a winking smiley faces. The number ominously enough had too many sixes for a superstitious or religious person to be comfortable about.

He rubbed his chin while pondering what to do. He could report the number to the precinct and have them trace the number to it's source... but he had another idea.

What if this was supernaturally related? He could just be overthinking it, but if it was, the police probably wouldn't be ready for it yet. He had to see what this was about himself first.

"Alright... let's see who this number belongs to." He announced, pulling his own phone out.

He dialed the number and was sure to put in *67 in front of the number to ensure that their caller ID came up as an unknown number; no need for them to counter trace his number and put them in trouble.

He hit the talk button and put it on speaker so Allan can hear. Time to see who this was.

"Alright... let's see who this number belongs to." Jason had pulled his phone out, dialing the number that was left and calling over speakerphone.

Jason's calling tone rang a few times and then silence. The screen went dark as the phone turned itself off before the call could be connected. Moments later the phone restarted, turning back on as it would normally. As this went on he was just leaning up against a wall with his hands in his pockets. This wasn't exactly his strong suite. Heck, investigating in general wasn't really his calling. His discretion with details was almost as poor as his ability to make friends and he wouldn't find it very easy to commit his mind to focusing on solving the crime. He always had trouble focusing on things that didn't really catch his interest and criminals hardly fit in his catalog of interests.

Since the phone attempt failed he decided it was time they probably pursued another lead to follow in this recent development. "Well, that failed. What now?" He asked Jason since he was the guy heading this whole operation he was now a part of somehow. He never really saw himself being able to get hired on as a cop before that day and he's still a little skeptical of whether they'd really hire him after this. Still, he was here so he might as well make the most of the situation he was given, whatever that might be.

"Well, thanks for considering it, if you ever change your mind I'd really appreciate if you could tell me something about him. Big Sniper should pay for what he has done." Jace said, a bit put down but understanding that she couldn't tell him. Thinking about what she said next he smiled "Well really I would appreciate either. I can really get the job done on my own but I'd really like to find a different job than the things I currently have to do. It would have to take place a lot at night though, as that's when I'm mostly awake." He said. Well I guess if what she says doesn't lead me to who is taking my jobs then it will at least maybe lead me to a better, and more legal, one. He thought to himself.

Waiting for her response he lead her to the door and opened it for her. "Well, it was nice meeting you. I hope your story goes well and that we get to meet again." He waited for her to step through and closed it behind her and walking away on the way back to the park. By the time he got there it was late afternoon and the sun was just about down. He decided to spend the rest of the day relaxing at the park, at least until his last client arrived.

Jason was a bit more than surprised when his phone shut off and turned back on in the middle of his call. He couldn't shake the feeling that this wasn't a coincidence either. Whoever was on the line must of set up... something. He didn't know.

After putting his phone in his pocket, he looked up to Allan who asked him what they should do now. Good question.

He turned and scanned the room, looking for some kind of something to point them in the right direction. Calling the number again could only yield the same results. He also noticed they haven't even checked the rest of the house yet. He mentioned for Allan to follow him.

Jason walked and checked several other rooms. Bathroom, laundry, garage, another bathroom, and a near empty bedroom. This must of been a guest bedroom or something, noticing the lack of personal things in the room. All so far, nothing suspicious. There was still Mackenzie's bedroom, the attic, basement, and any other extra room that he may have missed. Deciding to do his bedroom next, he headed up the stairs and came to a stop in front of the door. As he turned the doorknob, the door's lock prevented the door from opening.

"Locked, huh?" He mumbled.

He turned to Allan and pointed to the door with his thumb.

"Got any... abilities for this, or do I have to kick it in?" He joked.

Risaya was currently in touch with her client, who apparently had some connections with the cops. They were discussing the new revelations that was revealed to them by Shino.
"And I take it that you already sent in your own people to deal with Mackenzie?"
"Yes. There is no need to trouble yourself with him any further. Though, I am also intrigued by this "Three" that your assistant spoke of. What are they, some kind of witness?"
Risaya moved away from the window and sat in her chair, facing the laptop. She took out a small bottle of juice and poured its contents in a glass. She explained her findings as she took occasional sips from the glass.
"The "Three" were three siblings that were also trying to find out about the existence of the beings you know as "Level-5 Hybrids". They can either be Nephilims, humans who have angelic blood mixed in with them, or Cambions which is the reverse and has more affinity with infernal powers. Supposedly, these siblings once tried to initiate a high-end evocation spell to summon one but failed horribly. They lost control of whatever it was they summoned."
"You mean they were all killed?"
"No. Only one was killed in that accident. The other brother went missing and hasn't been found ever since. The other went mad, after the encounter. He's the one that Shino is planning to interrogate later."
"Weird. So what were they trying to summon, exactly?"
"Some sort of dead spirit maybe. According to the lore they discovered, there was an old necromancer who has succeeded in summoning a full-fledged demon in this world. He also lost control of this one and it took his life in return. Those three may be attempting to summon him to get instructions. My guess is that, they want to succeed at where he failed at. According to some really shady documents, they supposedly made a cultured body, a doll, to serve as a catalyst. However, nothing of any sort was found at the scene."
"Troubling. So how do they connect to the Big Sniper?"
"Who knows? Maybe the Big Sniper was the one they summoned?"
"Makes sense, I suppose. How do you know all of this?"
"I remembered reading it on the school's archives. They had records of old experiments by Magus all over the world. This was just one of them."
"Sounds sketchy and dangerous. Will that girl be alright?"
"I guess so. Shino was always the resourceful one. Besides, she'll remain stronger than me for three days."
"Huh? How did that happen?"
"Let's just say that she met with a rather, fortunate accident."

"I don't think we should immediately assume just yet. Along with the probability that Big Sniper committed the crime also lies the probability he didn't. Who knows? He may just be another piece in this puzzle."
Shino answered in response to Jace's short musings about making the wanted Sniper pay for his crimes. She walked in as the boy held the door open for her.
"Well, Mr. Barath, I guess this is where we part ways. It was nice meeting with you. Thanks for everything!"
Shino gave an enthusiastic wave as the boy retreated from view. Heading into the front desk, she asked for the whereabouts of the patient she is looking for. Fortunately, she was just in time for visiting hours and so, it didn't take her long to get an appointment. It will be held on the twenty-fourth floor. As she rode the elevator, some sort of anxiety descended to her body.
"Out of all notorious witnesses, the "Three" or the "Three Wright Brothers" are the most versed in matters of the unknown. Unfortunately, luck didn't seem to smile upon them. One was dead. The other one was missing and the last one went mad."
Shino stared at the numbers slowly climbing up that huge building. She was about to dig deeper into this mystery in which there might be no escape.
"And in an attempt to bring this case to a closure, I had no choice but to see for myself. I have to ask the only possible connection to this whole mess. The crazy one."
Stepping out into the floor, the guards escorted her to a dark padded cell. From the small slits in the door, she could make out some tattered pieces of padding, scattered on the floor. Some parts of the wall that was exposed had some crazy writing on them. Shino took a deep gulp as she headed into the dark confines of the room.

Pravus followed Jason around, touring the house's main floor. When it was more or less clear there were no more leads on the first level so it seemed they were moving up to the next.

"Locked, huh?" Jason gestured to the door. "Got any... abilities for this, or do I have to kick it in?"

Allan shrugged. "Eh. Might as well let me handle it." He said, only caring enough about what was going on to bother with the physical actions that needed done. He wasn't much in the mood to apply his mind seeing as how he was still feeling a bit off since last night.

He walked up to the wooden and focused his energy into his feet. He delivered a rapid front kick to the door, the air displacing from the hit with explosive force. The door not only broke from it's handle, it broke off it's hinges which were sent rocketing into the room as shrapnel while the door was propelled into the opposite wall of the room. There was a short cacophony of noise as the door crashed into whatever was occupying that side of the room, no doubt damaging a number of items. The door itself crumpled into two halves, broken around the point Allan's kick landed at. As the dust settled the ground was littered with broken pieces of various things including bits of wood from the door.

"Wow. I hit it a little harder than I'd intended."

Jason looked in awe and a bit of horror as the door flew off it's hinges and split into two pieces in midair, flying across the room and knocking over or destroying everything in it's path. Once the short show of destruction was over, most of Mackenzie's room was in shambles.

"Wow. I hit a little harder than I intended."

Jason slowly turned his head towards the young man, almost in disbelief.

"Really? That was a little harder?! You completely wrecked his room!" He pointed out, gesturing to the destruction. The bed was buried under the door pieces and the ceiling fan, his dresser was knocked over, and his nightstand and the lamp on it were almost non-existent by this point.

"God... I'd hate to see what a kick like that could do to a living being. Anyway, I guess I'll just leave that out of the report. Since most of the room is destroyed, I'll check the closet first."

Jason walked in the room and headed towards the only thing that wasn't hit, the closet. It was built into the wall, and had small double doors. Reaching for both handles, he slowly pulled them open.

A man was huddled on the ground, one of the most intense looks of fear was on his face. He didn't see the whole door thing... did he?

"Uh... hey. Are you Macke-"

Jason was thrown off guard when Mackenzie pulled out a small kitchen knife and thrust it toward him, grazing his left shoulder. Mackenzie let out a yell as he then slammed into Jason, knocking him onto his back with a thud. Next thing he knew, Mackenzie was on top of him, knife clutched in both hands above his head with a manic, fearful look in his eyes, with dried tears visible on his cheeks.

He brought the knife down, intent on stabbing Jason in the chest, but due to sheer adrenaline, Jason grabbed his wrists, stopping the blade a few inches from his chest.

"LEAVE ME ALONE! I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING!" Mackenzie shrieked, trying to push the knife back down towards it target.

"AH! DAMMIT MACKENZIE! We're with the POLICE! We're here to HELP YOU!" Jason barked back, trying not to let his life end early.

He'd seen this before. A desperation tactic used by people who were scared and cornered, completely losing themselves in an attempt to fight their way to safety. Far too many suspects reacted this way, although he didn't expect this one.

He wanted to activate his stun gauntlets, but he was afraid that any movement that wasn't to push the panicked Mackenzie away would result in a knife in his chest.

"Arg, damn it! Mackenzie, calm down!" Jason tried to reason. His words didn't seem to be reaching him.

Allan rolled his eyes a bit at Jason's comments. He was obviously used to seeing these powers far more than his cop buddy was. He couldn't blame him though. Up until this point he did not know a single person who had any clue as to whatever was going on with him. The fact that Jason knew as much as he did was miles ahead of what he had heard from anyone else which was basically nothing and he still had very little idea as to what he was capable of.

He made his way into the room after Jason, trying not to step on anything and wind up breaking more than he already had. He walked over to the bed and brushed off a bit of the debris. He was about to look under it for any signs or clues but there was a sudden crash behind him. Looking back over he saw Jason in a desperate struggle as Mackenzie was trying to stab his new acquaintance in the chest with a wimpy looking knife. He simply sighed, a bit annoyed by this guy trying to end Jason's life.

He walked over, standing just above the two on the ground while they wrestled over the knife. "Alright you. Cut that out."
He spoke rather frankly, not sounding at all worried or stressed in any sense. He reached down and grabbed the main arm controlling the knife and lifted it up. He quite literally pulled Mackenzie up until he was dangling just off his feet, struggling and kicking frantically. "STOP! PLEASE, I DIDN'T TELL ANYONE!" He cried, desperately trying to free himself from Allan's iron vise like grip which wasn't crushing his wrist since he was being soft on him but was still rather tight-fitting.

Allan thought he had complete control over the situation which was pretty much true but Mackenzie in an unreasonable frightened frenzy did something that surprised him a bit. The man reached up and took the knife from the hand he was controlling and started stabbing wildly at his arm in a desperate last ditch attempt to escape. Every time the knife connected with his arm the blade could just barely penetrate his hardened skin, leaving slight pin pricks which barely scratched the surface. After every stab the puny injuries would heal back up in mere seconds after the wound was made. Allan was getting bored faster than he was getting hurt. Deciding Mackenzie needed to calm down and start talking he finally grabbed the other hand, hoisting it up next to the other one.

"Hey, could you-" Allan tried to calm the guy down but he could hardly get a word in over the guy's wailing and babbling as he kicked and screamed. "HEY JASON! CAN YOU CALM THIS GUY DOWN!? I DON'T THINK HE'S LISTENING TO ME!" Allan yelled, hoping his words could be understood over the cacophony their lead was making.

Jason was relieved when Allan came to assist him. He saw Mackenzie get lifted off of him, but with one hand. Jason sat up, surprised at Allan's strength, but he did just destroy this room with a kick earlier, so it wasn't all that surprising anymore.

Jason winced from the stinging on his left shoulder. Checking the wound, it wasn't very deep. It bled little, but stung a lot; like a paper cut. His eyes widened when Mackenzie grabbed the knife with his other hand and made a move to stab Allan on the arm holding him up. Before he could say anything, the knife made contact with his arm. Again and again, Mackenzie stabbed Allan in the arm, but no blood flew, no screams of pain or flinching was heard or made. Allan just looked bored at Mackenzie's desperate attempt to free himself, until he grabbed his other arm.

"Just what is this kid?" He thought, looking at his arm. If he was surprised before, he couldn't believe what he was seeing now; the small marks left on his arm from the multiple stab attempts just healed, almost instantly. He looked at Allan who was trying to get through to Mackenzie.

"Allan Denton... just what else are you hiding from me...?"

"HEY JASON! CAN YOU CALM THIS GUY DOWN!? I DON'T THINK HE'S LISTENING TO ME!"

Jason chuckled a bit before rising to his feet; Allan was special, but he wasn't perfect. No one was.

It was time to shift gears. If talking to him won't work, he would have to intimidate him to get him to stop trying to resist.

He rolled up his sleeves which exposed the entirety his stun gauntlets. Activating them, electricity crackled in his open palms, illuminating the room in a blue light as the small bolts danced erratically around his hands. Jason exhaled and looked into Mackenzie's eyes, his usual friendly demeanor replaced with a deathly seriousness, enough to make the village idiot shut up and pay attention to you.

"Mr. Mackenzie... if you don't calm down and listen to us..."

He clenched his fists, causing the electricity to make loud crackling noises.

"I will have to subdue you."

Mackenzie slowly stopped struggling in Allan's arms, but still looked rather fearful.

Well that's a start.
