Full Name: LCpl. Jamie Michael Finn

Valiant Crew's Nickname For Him: 'Judo'

Age: 28

Roles: Crew Small Arms Specialist. Finn is to clean and maintain top condition of all the crew's small arms on board the ship and issue them back out when needed.
Crew Marines. When organizing an expedition on a planet or in the event of a boarding party, Jamie can be counted on to go out with the other combat-capable members of the crew.

Appearance: A smaller 5'9 but a more sturdy 178 lbs of mostly muscle. He has a young, calm face with experienced, almost squinty, brown eyes underneath a pair of black, rectangular glasses and a short, low faded, brown haircut atop his head. Can often be seen wearing a boots-and-utes style of get-up but, instead of cammies, wears a dark, flat grey pair of cargo pants, black and grey boots, and a red long sleeve shirt that usually has its sleeves pulled up to just below the elbows.

Equipment: Jamie's personal firearm is a small military issue 9mm pistol he bought initially for home defense after his EAS date from the Marine Corps. Regularly, he keeps it tight to his ribs in a shoulder holster but, after preparing for a combat situation, keeps it down in a regular holster on his right thigh. Knowing he would likely need personal protection, before boarding he purchased a personal flak jacket and set of sapi plates to slip in the front and back.
Jamie also owns a military style backpack for extra equipment in the field and working as a place to keep some of his personal belongings while on the ship. In the field, he uses it to carry extra supplies. On the back, it reads 'FINN' on one name tape and 'U.S. MARINES' on the name tape directly below the one with his name on it.

Abilities: Jamie, as an expert with small arms, knows how to clean and use machinery to repair military grade firearms, as well as sight-in a weapon and help others with sighting in their's for a tighter shot grouping. He also has basic knowledge of modern infantry formations and hand signals, as well as proper technique in using a rifle in a combat situation.

Personality: Jamie has a friendly character about him but can be very straight and to the point at times, not willing to waste time on things when he has something that needs to get done. To put it simply: he's friendly, but hates bullshit. When relaxed, he has a different air about him. He becomes a lot more understanding and easier to talk to and boy, you do NOT want to tempt him into getting into a competition of who can 'talk shit' on each other better when he is like this, because he WILL win. He may not have liked his time in the Marines but that is one valuable thing it gives you, the uncanny ability to verbally destroy someone.

Background: Jamie Michael Finn was born to a single mother and no siblings. He grew up a hard life, living in poverty and always having to help his mother in making ends meat. In order to try to better his and his mother's life, freshly out of high school, he joined the military and always sent a check of earnings back to his mother to help her out every 1st and 15th. He never got the best of grades but it did not matter. He joined the Marine Corps as an 0311 infantry and decided he was going to do his best to make a good living to support his mother back home. But she began getting sick and...well...she never recovered...
After the death of his mother, Finn (now a Lance Corporal) could not keep his head on strait. He was not getting promoted in his current MOS and needed something new. He figured, since he likes firearms, he would LAT move into the MOS of 2111 Small Arms Repairer/Technician and hopefully get promoted. Of course, even there, LCpl. Finn lost motivation and drive for dealing with the endless amount of ridiculous policies and situations the Marine Corps put him in and eventually, after a year and a half of being a 2111, reached his EAS date. His four-year contract was up and the military was not going to let him back in due to his lack of progress in the ranks. But it was not like he really wanted to stay in. He already wanted to get away from all the stupidly pointless aspects about the Marine Corps anyway.
After leaving the military, Jamie got a job at a local range for maintaining weapons there but he quickly got tired of repressing the thought that he was doing nothing with his life and...well, he changed it.
First, it was private security. Then, he began studying Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and started working as a private military contractor, eventually getting fairly good at both. Four years after he left the military, he saw an ad requesting help from an experienced weapons maintainer on a voyage out into free space, not controlled by Earth. The job would pay well so Jamie figured, why the hell not?

The ship was a Longsword-class Destroyer, called The Valiant.
