History

The day Maes Hughes died was a heavy blow to his family, his friends, and his fans alike. To one man in particular, named Mareth, it was such a heavy blow, that he changed his last name and enlisted as a state alchemist in honor of the fallen man. Maes had been more of a mentor to Mareth growing up than even his own father. He taught Mareth everything, that compassion wins out in the end, that caring isn't the same as being weak. Most importantly, Maes taught Mareth the best way to annoy people was to rant endlessly about your child.
