Age:

Physically, River is a soundly average woman. She's tall, but not towering, lean, but not muscular, and friendly enough to walk comfortably in any crowd. She has dark brown skin and eyes, and a wide, easy smile. She prefers to keep her wealth of dark brown curls tied into a braid that falls down between her shoulder blades. When among her clan, she wears her family's traditional face paint. When outside the clan on a job, she wears whatever she has to wear to get the job done. She has a tattoo, a spiral centered over the back of her neck, just below her hairline. This is the mark of her clan, an easy way to identify herself to those who could help her.
Personality:
{Cheerful - Confident - Determined - Smart}
There's hardly a person in River's life who doesn't adore her and it shows. She's got the easy kind of confidence that comes from an upbringing full of love and happiness. And a lifetime spent learning the most effective way to hobble a man. River also loves hard and loves everything. She loves her family, she loves her work, she loves her life. Why then should she go around brooding and angry? River is cheerful when she's working, and even more cheerful when she plays. Having rarely been told no has developed in her a sense that, while the world may not give her everything she wants, there are very few things she can't go out and take for herself. When she sets her mind to something, it's pretty difficult to convince her to let it go.
River's parents like to say that the one person she ever tried and failed to kill was her mother (the Stormsongs are a morbid bunch). She was born in the midst of the worst thunderstorm in their clan's history, one that flooded the nearby river and destroyed several generations' old trees in the village. Knowing this, River's parents entreated the entire village to beeseech their ancestors that River not come during the worst of the storm. Despite this, River was born just as the floodwaters reached their doorway. As the story goes, the moment she let out her first wail, the rain stopped and the skies went blue and the river itself flowed back into its banks (the Stormsongs are also a highly dramatic bunch).
The Stormsongs are one family in Clan Skysong. The clan is known for their skill with death and deception. Some families are hunters, some are assassins, some are spies, some are healers. The Stormsongs are warriors. They make their money by lending their talents as guardsmen to anyone who can pay. Before River, it was the Stormsong men who conducted business. After all, before her, no daughters had been born to the family since her great-grandmother. Many among the Clan wondered how River would fold into the family and there was some mild surprise when her father set her alongside her older brothers to train when she was old enough. The older she grew, though, the more quickly the surprise waned. It quickly became clear that River was born for this kind of work. She was fast, strong, smart, and so eager to learn everything she could. It also became clear that people didn't often realize that she was a guard until too late. Her father sent her to the other families as she grew to learn to play roles and blend in.
As the only baby girl in the family, she was doted on, nurtured and indulged (as much as a family of warriors knew how). She's fiercely protective of them, and her entire family, and her Clan. Now River spends her time alternating between their village and traveling with her father and brothers, taking on jobs with them. The worst thing she has going for her at the moment is her mother, constantly trying to match her with a husband.
