"I have no strategy; I make the Right to Kill and the Right to Restore Life my Strategy."

The Sengoku period (戦国時代 Sengoku jidai?) or Warring States period in Japanese history was a time of social upheaval, political intrigue, and nearly constant military conflict that lasted roughly from the middle of the 15th century to the beginning of the 17th century. The name "Sengoku" was adopted by Japanese historians in reference to the Warring States period in Chinese history (Sengoku jidai (戦国時代?) in Japanese) which preceded the unification of China. Likewise, the Sengoku period in Japan would eventually lead to the unification of political power under the Tokugawa shogunate.

Although the Ashikaga shogunate had retained the structure of the Kamakura bakufu and instituted a warrior government based on the same social economic rights and obligations established by the Hōjō with the Jōei Code in 1232, it failed to win the loyalty of many daimyo, especially those whose domains were far from Kyoto. As trade with China grew, the economy developed, and the use of money became widespread as markets and commercial cities appeared. This, combined with developments in agriculture and small-scale trading, led to the desire for greater local autonomy throughout all levels of the social hierarchy. As early as the beginning of the 15th century, suffering and misery caused by natural disasters such as earthquakes and famines often served to trigger armed uprisings by farmers weary of debt and taxes.

The Ōnin War (1467–1477), a conflict rooted in economic distress and brought on by a dispute over shogunal succession, is generally regarded as the onset of the Sengoku period. The "eastern" army of the Hosokawa family and its allies clashed with the "western" army of the Yamana, and fighting in and around Kyoto lasted for nearly 11 years, after which it spread to outlying provinces.

Our story takes place in the growing conflict that has already spread to other provinces. Two provinces in particular, which are on either side during this war, are the Fujiwara Clan headed by the ambitious and ruthless Hirase Tomiji and the smaller province head by the more peaceful, but wise Mitsuya Jurobei. The Sakurai clan has always held dominance over a mountainous region known as Rokkotsu Pass. Their main city is Amahara, a festive village high in the misty mountains where tradition rules. Rokkotsu Pass is notorious for Yamabushi;

Japanese mountain ascetic hermits with a long tradition as mighty warriors endowed with supernatural powers. They follow the Shugendō (修験道) doctrine, an integration of mainly esoteric Buddhism of the Shingon (真言) sect, with Tendai (天台宗, Tendai-shū) and Shinto (神道) elements.[citation needed] For the most part solitary, they did form loose confederations, and associations with certain temples, and also participated in battles and skirmishes alongside samurai (武士) and sōhei (僧兵) on occasion. Their origins can be traced back to the solitary Yamabito(山人, Yamaōshi, and some hijiri (聖) of the eighth and ninth centuries. There has also been cross-teaching with samurai weaponry and Yamabushi's spiritual approach to life and fighting.

Sōhei Also exist here; Buddhist warrior monks of feudal Japan. At certain points of history they held considerable power, obliging the imperial and military governments to collaborate.

They were similar to the mountain ascetic yamabushi warrior monks, but unlike the solitary yamabushi, sōhei generally organized into large armies or mobs. A famous monastery is the Enryaku-ji on Mount Hiei, just outside Kyoto.

The sōhei shared many similarities with the Western lay brothers, members of a monastic order who might not have been ordained. Much like warrior monks of Germany (see Teutonic Knights), or other religious orders, such as those involved in the Crusades, sōhei did not operate as individuals, or even as members of small, individual temples, but rather as warriors in a large extended brotherhood or monastic order. The 'home temple' of a sōhei monastic order might have had several, if not tens or a hundred, smaller monasteries, training halls, and subordinate temples.

These kinds of figures often kept the Fujiwara at bay, and had for many years before the war between the Hosokawa and the Yamana. However many left to fight for the two major powers leaving the pass derelict for the most part and giving the Fujiwara as a much larger province, a chance to strike at the Sakurai Clan. Within the Fujiwara, is born a boy, a boy that would later become an incredibly gifted but merciless man. His name is Takashi Kien. He would become one of the four great hitokiri. The four men were Takashi Kien, Kirino Toshiaki (also known as Nakamura Hanjirō), Tanaka Shinbei, and Okada Izō. These four samurai were warrior elite and widely considered undefeatable by normal people. The word hitokiri literally means "manslayer."

* No guns. Period. We are dabbling in 1467 and onward. Portugese did not bring firearms to Japan until 1542.

Their way of life was dictated by the code of bushido or 'way of the warrior' and clad in their magnificent, multi-colored armor they were perfectly suited to the violent clan and dynastic warfare that dominated medieval Japan as the most powerful families vied for supremacy.

::Combat Specialization:: This is generally for the Hitokiri. But it can be used for every warrior class as an optional thing.

-Single-handed Combat- You are adept at using only one sword, be it short or long. You make quick, but precise cuts. Single-handed combat form are usually for a Hitokiri that does not wear the armor that his fellow samurai adorn themselves in.

-Dual-handed Combat- Dual wielding allows for much more rigorous attack, Hitokiri that specialize in this can make superbly fast paced attacks in rapid succession. Generally they use a katana and a wakazashi or a Katana and its saya (sheath).

-Naginata-This pole weapon that was traditionally used in Japan by members of the samurai class. A naginata consists of a wooden shaft with a curved blade on the end; it is similar to the Chinese Guan Dao or European glaive or Russian sovnya. Usually it also had a sword-like guard (tsuba) between the blade and shaft.

The martial art of wielding the naginata is known as naginatajutsu.

Naginata can be used to batter, stab or hook an opponent', but due to their relatively balanced center of mass, are often spun and turned to proscribe a large radius of reach. The curved blade makes for an effective tool for cutting due to the increased length of cutting surface. In the hands of a skilled practitioner, one 5-foot (1.5 m) tall wielder could conceivably cover and attack in 484 square feet (44.97 square meters) of open, level ground with a 5 foot (1.5 m) shaft, 3 foot (0.9 m) blade, 3 foot (0.9 m) reach.

Naginatas were often used by foot soldiers to create space on the battlefield. They have several situational advantages over a sword. Their reach was longer, allowing the wielder to keep out of reach of his opponent. The long shaft offered it more leverage in comparison to the hilt of the katana, enabling the naginata to cut more efficiently. The weight of the weapon gave power to strikes and cuts, even though the weight of the weapon is usually thought of as a disadvantage. The weight at the end of the shaft and the shaft itself can be used both offensively and defensively. Swords, on the other hand, can be used to attack faster, have longer cutting edges (and therefore more striking surface and less area to grab), and were able to be more precisely controlled in the hands of an experienced swordsman.

-Yumi- is the Japanese term for bows, and includes the longer daikyū (大弓?) and the shorter hankyū (半弓?) used in the practice of kyūdō, or Japanese archery. The yumi was an important weapon of the samurai warrior during the feudal period of Japan.

The yumi is exceptionally tall, standing over two meters, and surpassing the height of the archer (ite, 射手). They are traditionally made by laminating bamboo, wood and leather, using techniques which have not changed for centuries, although some archers (particularly beginners) may use a synthetic yumi. The construction used may be a Japanese development of the laminated bows widely used for centuries across Northern Eurasia and in Jōmon times in Japan.

The bow and arrow was the most effective long-range weapon available during Japanese feudal times until the introduction of guns.

The yumi and ya was the samurai’s original weapon of choice before the sword. Samurai had to learn to fire proficiently standing, kneeling, and mounted on horseback.

-Wakazashi-
The wakizashi (Kanji: 脇差 Hiragana: わきざし?) (meaning "side insertion") is a traditional Japanese sword with a blade between 30 and 60 cm (12 and 24 in), with an average of 46 cm (18 in). It is similar to but shorter than a katana, and usually shorter than the kodachi ("small sword"). The wakizashi was usually worn together with the katana by the samurai or swordsmen of feudal Japan. When worn together the pair of swords were called daishō, which translates literally as "big-little".The katana was the big or long sword and the wakizashi the companion sword.

The wakizashi were used as backup weapons and as tools to decapitate defeated enemies, and sometimes to commit ritual suicide. The master swordsman Miyamoto Musashi (宮本 武蔵, 1584–1645) was known to have wielded a katana and a wakizashi in respective hands in order to fight with two weapons simultaneously.

The two swords together were called the daisho and represented the social power and personal honour of the samurai.

*If you want to be a Hitokiri, one of the three, know that they DO die. I had the other three lined up to fight Takashi as sort of 'boss fights'. They don't HAVE to be samurai either. They can be Shinobi, Yamabushi, or Sōhei. However they are ALL Fujiwara

* There are no spells or mystical powers in this roleplay. We are just stretching human limits a bit so as to make the fighting more intense.

*If you need help with weapons, I will help you. If I don't know a weapon I can and will look it up.

Yoshi looked up from his work when Ichiro came running around the corner of the house yelling.

"Yoshio-sama!" He shouted, rounding a corner and sliding to an abrupt stop, panting slightly. "Yoshio-sama. I fear someone knows of the hitokiri's presence here, and are on their way to silence him, along with all of us."

Yoshio put up his hand, "Calm yourself Ichiro", he said and then he gave an aggravated sigh as he stroked the stubble on his chin. "Come we will go and speak with the hitokiri", he and Ichiro walked into the back door of as they slid the door aside he found his daughter and Takashi, in the kitchen. she was preparing to bring the food to the dining table, "Father is something wrong?",she asked with a concerned look on her face. Yoshio sighed, "Takashi-sama this includes you so I want you to listen as well", he gave a breath and continued "Ichiro over heard a conversation on the way to the village this afternoon. It seems that someone is planning to attack the village to get to Takashi. I am sorry to say young man but you are not ready to face your foe you once again, but I will not leave you to the wolves", Yoshio stood respectfully. Kasumi's eyes got wide, "Father I can fight", she said, Yoshio snapped, "I know this Kasumi but I only trained you as a last resort. I will not have my daughter on the front lines is that understood, we will hear no more of this!", he said in authoritative voice. Kasumi looked down at the floor, "As you wish father", she said an disappointed voice. Yoshio walked over and put his hand on her shoulder, "What you can do my darling is take your sister and hide in the caves of the mountain take your weapon just in case". Kasumi looked at her father with understanding and nodded "Yes sir", she bowed to both the men and went to find Natsume.

Yoshio sighed "I know that you will insist on fighting Takashi-sama but I will ask you to stay here and let us handle this. I'm sure this group is small and not very opposing, just men looking to get on the Fujiwara's good side. They will have to get through us to get to you, the Matsumoto clan is not so easily taken. Ichiro go inform Ryuu and our strongest warriors I wish to get this over with quickly and efficiently, with no mistakes understood". After giving his orders to Ichiro he turned back to Takashi, "I know I have no control over you, I am no Lord, and if I was I am not yours. I am but a man trying to protect his village, and as long as you are in my village it is my duty to protect you. But it is your choice to make, I will leave the decision up to you", with that he turned and went to find his own weapons and armor. Since the fight with Takashi he had been unable to repair the one he had sliced in two, but Yoshio was well trained in many weapons so he took up his Kusarigama. "It has been long old friend", he said as he felt the weight of it in his hands, checking the blade of the sickle to make sure it was good and sharp. Despite not using them Yoshio had always kept them well cared for and battle ready. Putting on lite armor, he stepped out and headed to the entrance of the village.

Kasumi found her sister with talking with some other girls from the village, her sister was only 14 and thought more of beautiful kimonos and boys than life or death. "Natsume come and you girls I suggest you go home as well, the village is on the verge of being attacked and you all should find somewhere safe to be". The other girls eyes went wide and they went running to their respective homes. Natsume sighed, "Again why can we never get a break. We do nothing to advance from our small community but the Fujiwara are so greedy that they must have every corner of Japan", she said as she walked with her sister. "I'm sorry Natsume but that is the way of the world and the Fujiwara they do not understand the way we do that just having is not what is important in this life", Kasumi sighed. "So where are we hiding?", Natsume asked as she looked up at her sister, "The caves as father told us". Natsume shook her head, "I hate the caves, their so dank and depressing".

""It's good to see you up and moving; I have made a meal if your interested in eating real food"", she said looking up at him. She didn't understand it usually she would have grabbed her weapon and went after him, knowing he had a knife. But for some reason she trusted him she felt that under the exterior of the killer; was a man that wanted nothing more then a life that was rewarding in other ways than how many heads he collected.

What the hell was up with this girl? Always...smiling at him. Her generosity annoyed Takashi but he didn't understand why. Maybe it was be cause he felt generosity was seldom the selfless thing everyone proclaimed it to be. There was always an ulterior motive, always a scheme and always, always a reason behind it--a cause for it like a cough that would come before the disease would spread and weaken the soul.

While Takashi was staring down at her, pondering and contemplating, some part of his subconsciousness or live consciousness took a step back before the Fujiwara had gained control over the province that his once noble family resided. The lord prior to the Fujiwara had caste them down, exiling them the the Ryukyu islands. A penal colony for murderers and cut throats. His father hid him in the floor boards when the samurai of Goro came, he could see the discernible look his father's eyes gave. That compassionate glance just shortly before they killed his mother, and took his father to go fight against the other cut throats that had over crowded the small region.

When Takashi finally came out, the sky was burning. It was a bright vibrant orange with deep purple beginning to weave itself as though there were cracks to behold in the sky. The crudely set up village was burning, people were running and screaming, mainly those that couldn't defend themselves from those that could. The world had lost its mind. Looking one way, the 10 year old Takashi witnessed a man grabbing a woman by the hair, the girl only about 14 before he thrust a sword through her throat. Her fragile hands gripped the blade pleadingly while her own blood flowed past her fingers.

Stumbling back from the scene, he ran, fleeing for his life like that girl had done. He could hear a sinister cackle as one of the men began to chase him. Eyes wide, the fear driving his legs now as he looked back. Takashi's foot gave way as he hit the end of the road, tumbling he fell into a pit of bodies and gore. Severed heads and decapitated bodies lie in a sloppy, slouched over hole. Sitting up on his hands and knees, it was impossible not to press down on on someones deceased boy, or cold clammy face.

Blood drenched him now, as the fluid had mad a macabre moat as it had amassed. His hair clung to his face, and the blood of men, sons, daughters and wives clung to this child's hands and feet. Looking up, Takashi witnessed something that he couldn't dismiss. His fathers head, it had been messily cleaved from his body and his mothers body with her head still intact, lie next to him dead as well. Crawling across the blood drenched soil, the sky seeming to become blood red with the puddles reflective gaze. He lifted the head of his father; eyes rolled into the back of their sockets. He could remember the pain of dishonor then, it burned him hotter than any fire could.

Young Takashi clutched the head until one came, sword drawn and lowered. It was one of those madmen that murdered anything that had the chance to move. A cut throat with no honor, and no dignity. With his forehead to that of his fathers, the cold pale skin despite the warmth of hell around them could no longer feel his searing tears.

""Gomen-nasai...""He whispered to his fathers amputated head setting it slowly back down.
The ten year old boy shakily stood up, head bowed as he stepped forwards slowly. He reached out with one had and grabbed his father's still sheathed sword, not even stopping in his slow movements to do so. The simple bandit snickered. This caused Takashi to stop proceeding and finally lift his head. His eyes were calm, and his breathing steady yet tears still flowed like rivers from his young eyes.

""Laugh al you want,""Takashi said, lifting his head in a gradual manner. "it won't matter when you're dead." The snickering ceased almost immediately, and the man grabbed the hilt of his sword with both hands, charging after Takashi.""You little shit you wanna say that again?!""

Takashi, feeling no sense of fear or peace, but an unnerving calm passing over him, covering him like a blanket. Like a thick warm futon quilt. Gripping his father's sword which, by comparison, was much too big for him with both hands and he charged after. Takashi ducked the horizontal swing that came from the man's right, but his sword caught the brunt of the blow, and sent him tumbling backwards.

The man laughed and began to advance upon Takashi as he struggled to get up. Lying on on his back, his arms and legs spread slightly Takashi winced as he fought with himself to even lift his head. Rolling over, he pushed himself up and turned around panting with blood that was really indistinguishable from all the rest, creeping down from the corner of his mouth.

The bandit was already on him, throwing up both hands ready to cleave him in half. Letting out a shout, Takashi wildly swung his own sword up. The shorter distance for him to reach the bandit, had the bandit realizing he had come a little too close. The perfected tip of the kissaki, the top of the arched blade cut through flesh as easily as t would have paper, severed nerves and tendons like silk strings and cleaved bone like it were a soft pliable wood. Takashi had cut the man's legs literally out from underneath him, right above both knee joints.

The man's body splashed down into the muck and instantly the nerves sent signals to his brain telling it of the immense trauma he had just suffered. But that wasn't enough for Takashi. He the swung the blade down again, cutting off the hand that clutched the sword. By this point, Takashi was so calm that he let slip the sword in his own hand and straddled the now screaming man's chest, unlatching his own wakazashi. Raising it edge down, the man's eyes widened in fear, Takashi's glowed bright amber.

""No-no-no please!"" The man pleaded.

""I find it strange,""Takashi said in an alarmingly disconnected voice.""that every sinner always pleads repentance when they realize that their life is not in their own hands...Well, I am not a kami--I'm a human too, and my first sins will to rid this world of filth like you. And don't worry, you won't be alone.""Takashi drove the wakazashi down in repeated stabbing motions causing streams of blood to splash against his face until he could feel the man die in his own hands.

Takashi sat there, blood dripping from his saturated tresses and flowing down to the point of his chin before dripping back down on the man that now lie dead because of him. But he couldn't explain it. He felt no more sorrow. Not for this man. Not even for his parents. He just sat there with his eyes obscured by the mess of tangled hair. He had become perfectly numb. Standing, his head slumped forwards and as he began to wander forwards, he tore the wakazashi out of his first victim, wandering towards the screaming while dragging his sword behind him...

Takashi then came back to the present, the memory seeming to last hours, maybe even days and years but in actuality was only a mere few seconds. He blinked nonchalantly, not giving away his momentary thought process.

Kasumi put her hand on Takshi's shoulder, ""Come eat you need to regain your strength"", as they made their way back towards the house Kasumi smiled,""And by the way I want my knife back"."

This caused Takashi's eyebrow to perk, before he responding a very reserved manner. "You going to take it from me?"

Yoshio sighed,""Takashi-sama this includes you so I want you to listen as well"," he gave a breath and continued""Ichiro over heard a conversation on the way to the village this afternoon. It seems that someone is planning to attack the village to get to Takashi. I am sorry to say young man but you are not ready to face your foe you once again, but I will not leave you to the wolves"," Yoshio stood respectfully. Kasumi's eyes got wide,""Father I can fight"," she said, Yoshio snapped,""I know this Kasumi but I only trained you as a last resort. I will not have my daughter on the front lines is that understood, we will hear no more of this!"", he said in authoritative voice. Kasumi looked down at the floor,""As you wish father"", she said an disappointed voice. Yoshio walked over and put his hand on her shoulder,""What you can do my darling is take your sister and hide in the caves of the mountain take your weapon just in case"."Kasumi looked at her father with understanding and nodded""Yes sir","she bowed to both the men and went to find Natsume.

Yoshio sighed ""I know that you will insist on fighting Takashi-sama but I will ask you to stay here and let us handle this. I'm sure this group is small and not very opposing, just men looking to get on the Fujiwara's good side. They will have to get through us to get to you, the Matsumoto clan is not so easily taken. Ichiro go inform Ryuu and our strongest warriors I wish to get this over with quickly and efficiently, with no mistakes understood"." "After giving his orders to Ichiro he turned back to Takashi,"""I know I have no control over you, I am no Lord, and if I was I am not yours. I am but a man trying to protect his village, and as long as you are in my village it is my duty to protect you. But it is your choice to make, I will leave the decision up to you","

""I'm glad you reconciled that. But even if you hadn't, I would have went anyways. What do you take me for? I am a samurai, I do not have the will to run from battle. These fools want me, I will not hide from the likes of them. The seek glory through death, then I shall permit it."" Takashi stepped out into the open with nothing but a kitchen knife, his belly still slightly swollen and the stitches prominently reddened. He spotted Kasumi after he had stepped back outside, at first he was stand from afar, watching the the older sister talking to the younger with the younger being hotblooded towards Kasumi. Stepping over to the group of girls, his face holding a stern expression as he brushed past Kasumi towards Natsume, causing her to want to back up away from the killer that he was most definitely. ""You're gonna go to those caves, or I'll make sure they won't be able to find you by the morning dawn. Your father might have guards all over this place, but you got to ask how many of them can I dispatch before I get to you. 10? 20? Now go, no more complaints.""

Natsume's eyes went wide she couldn't believe what he had just said, Kasumi just smiled and shook her head, “I give my sister enough negative encouragement Takashi-sama, she does not need it from you as well. Natsume knows her place she may complain but she always listens and usually without death threats. And even if you did come after us “Man slayer”, you would have to get through me first”, she said giving Takashi a warning glance. He knew that if threatened she could be as deadly as he, she clutched the naginata in her hand tightly, as she lead her sister to the mountain path and into the caves. They had already set up one of the caves as for living, with water and supplies to last them for a month. She looked back at Takashi before entering the mouth of the cave, “I trust you with my life Takashi-sama I wanted you to know that. And I hope that you survive this battle that I might thank you in person, for your bravery”, with that she turned and followed her sister into the cave. After turning a couple of corners they made it into there cave hovel. Kasumi made a fire and as Natsume prepared the bed rolls for them to sleep, if they lived that long.

Yoshio came up the path to make sure his daughter's made it there safely. He noticed Takashi coming down the path, “Ah Takashi-sama are you ready?”, he said. He knew there was no way he was going to stop Takashi from going up against the foes.

Ryuu frowned slightly at Takashi's words. This man infuriated him, but intrigued him at the same time. He could not describe it in any other way. He saw Ichiro in quite a rush, curiosity got the best of him and he followed him towards Yoshio's hut. He stopped at the door listening in at the conversation, "So men are coming to the village because of Takashi huh..." though before he could take any action Yoshio moved outside. He bowed awkwardly watching as the man walked right on towards the entrance of the village.

Ryuu looked at the sword in his right hand, the words said to him by Takashi ringing in his ears. He gripped the sword tighter; the sword itself yes could be easily broken, but this sword was foraged with more extreme care towards durability. Though in battle that wouldn't matter, all swords break; and his would be no exception, but hopefully it would last in any long-lasting melee encounters. Ryuu's grip loosened on the weapon and within a few seconds he moved on towards the entrance as well.

Upon reaching it he stopped close by. His mind was still plagued by the words that Takashi had said to him. Ryuu slowly let out an exhale of air from his lungs settling into more relaxed state. Ryuu would use Takashi's advice for this battle, hopefully it would be easier then he felt it would or he might just end up making the same mistakes twice. Ryuu slowly cleared his mind of doubt; there was no place for doubts on a battlefield. Ryuu inhaled slowly, he needed to stay relaxed. his style of fighting, he had to be able to weave in and out of attack and defense. If he slowed down at all that would be his downfall; the sword; like Takashi had said was not built for constant clashes between weapons, and because of that he substituted that for a strike and dodge tactic. Ryuu drew his sword from it's saya stabbing it into the ground as he tied the saya to his back for safe keeping. This battle would probably be the first of many; if Takashi remained with them.

"Yes, Yoshio-sama. At once." Ichiro bowed slightly and dashed out of the hut alongside him. He ran past Ryuu to the other various warriors and soliders that were scattered about the village and gave them Yoshio's orders. Within a few minutes or so, all the village's men were gathered near the entrance, anxiously awaiting the arrival of these attackers. Ichiro looked back at the cave where Kasumi and her sister were hiding. If things started to go downhill, he would be there to protect the girls in a matter of seconds. That was one thing Ichiro was very good at; he was fast. Much faster then most samurai. Although, his actual strength could use some work, he made up for it with his quick reflexes and speed. It took him a little longer to cut down an enemy, but by the time they were dead, the body would be littered with precise cuts and gashes.

Drawing his katana, Ichiro came to a stop next to Ryuu and glanced around. He noticed Takashi standing not too far away, with just a kitchen knife. Hm.. It's not really a weapon, but I suppose in the hands of a hitokiri, it's incredibly deadly. I'll have to keep an eye on him if a battle begins. He was abruptly pulled away from his thoughts when he heard the sound of horses and shouting men. Ichiro took a step back into his fighting stance and withdrew his Tanto, spinning it in his grip a few times to get the feel of it. "Do you think he will try anything?" He whispered over to Ryuu, his gaze stuck on the entrance. "Or do you think he'll actually help?"

Ryuu looked around him. The gathering of the village men was a sight for sore eyes. He couldn't help feel better knowing that he wasn't standing alone here now. His attention turned back to the front as the sound of thundering hoofs, and shouting men. Then he heard someone talking to him, looking down towards Ichiro he chuckled. "If he helps, he helps if he doesn't, he doesn't. It doesn't really matter, and if he tries anything I doubt he can get through us all with just a kitchen knife."

The thundering grew heavier, and his eyes caught the flash of steel in the distance. The battle wouldn't last long; the bravado and shouting that came from the men showed inexperience. A smile graced Ryuu's lips, this was going to be easy; and he was half tempted to see what Takashi could do with just a kitchen knife. Though, that was not the way. He shifted his feet apart into a fighting stance fit for his weapon. "This battle won't take long hopefully, today was suppose to be about relaxation.." He mumbled off to himself, feeling a bit of annoyance for this interruption. The men who were planning to attack the village were closing in on the gates. Ryuu exhaled quietly, closing his eyes. He needed to relax, keep calm and the battle would go quicker, and he'd be able to take Takashi's advice in full.

Takashi stood there with the group...for a while. He felt their questioning glances, their eyes upon him. It almost seemed as though they were breathing down the back of his neck. Then, stepping forwards as he heard the clattering of swords, the marching of unified sandaled feet upon the dirt path beaten by years of steeds trampling the verdant vista. His hair disheveled, and still showing the signs of the battle just nights ago. Reaching out, he took a hold of the large iron ring that was bolted to the heavy oak doors. Not waiting for any one else's commands he pried the cumbersome gateway apart like a common work, allowing the chance for the force to come spilling in like crashing waves slipping in-between crevices of rocks along the western shores.

This could be seen as either, foolhardy or like he was eager for blood.

Stepping beyond the threshold of the gate, he now solely stood before the small contingent that was foolish enough to hunt him. He almost inaudibly applauded them men seeking him, wishing he had his daisho returned so that he may collect their heads personally. However, what befell his eyes, was more than simply insulting. 20 aishigaru. Peasants, farmers at best. Not warriors with cunning, not with fine steel. The glorious battle he had somehow envisioned was not to be.

The commander shouted from the cover of the wall of flesh and bone his men made around him. He threw up one hand and directed his finger to Takashi. "I am Nakamura. I demand to know where Takashi Kien is! Harboring a fugitive of the Fujimori is grounds for war!" This fool had no cunning, he just blatantly hid behind bodies like a coward.

"I am Takashi Kien, of the clan Fujimori. Tell me Nakamura, did you really think that twenty, lightly armed and armored peasants would be able to keep me from having your head?" A rather obvious tone of irascibility in his tone. He was quite infuriated and insulted. He would have Nakamura's head for nothing else but for this insult.

"Draw your swords men! I do! You are unarmed, you're coming with me!" Nakamura shouted, causing Takashi to simply grin and withdraw the knife he took. This drew Nakamura's attention, but now he laughed at the spectacle.

"Are you senile?" Nakamura explained, his arms outstretched and hands open to showcase the 20 men in front of him now with drawn weapons. Takashi wasn't laughing. His eyes changed, going from a soft violet hue to flashing a bright amber. His emotional disconnectedness setting, detaching him from fear and guilt. It was a mindset few could reach and even fewer could understand but it left him the ability to kill with impunity.

"I'm not going anywhere," Takashi sounded off finally his voice deeper now. "if I wish to leave, I'll do it myself."

Ichiro stood at the ready, waiting for the command to attack. But Takashi's stubborn move threw him off, if only a little. What the hell is this guy thinking? He's going to ruin the Matsumoto name if he keeps up these outbursts. It wasn't his place to judge, but Ichiro had just about enough of the great hitokiri. Someone who was ordered to mercilessly kill whomever he was instructed to didn't sit well with the young samurai. After learning the commander's name, Ichiro felt the sudden urge to fight creep up inside him. It had been some time since he was able to confront someone hostile. Although he was a little dissapointed at the small number, only 20; Ichiro would still try to stop them as quickly as he could.

Even though he wanted to fight, he knew he was to drive the enemy off as swiftly as possible and keep Yoshio safe. That was his number one priority. Keeping the head of the village and his family safe. Ichiro contemplated on simply advancing as Takashi had, but was hesitant in doing so. He knew he could get away with stepping out of line. The village was in danger, so it would seem natural that Ichiro jump at the opponent; he just wanted to halt their advance. Still, his better judgement got the best of him, and he impatiently waited to attack.

"Bring that son of a bitch's head!!" shouted fiercely and with disdain, thrusting his arm forwards and pointing towards Takashi. Immediately 20 aishigaru, lightly armed and armored lunged for him as a collective force. Revealing his choice weapon, withdrawing it from his belt line. He ran forwards towards the oncoming onslaught. He suddenly dropped just shortly before an aishigaru took a swing at him with his sword. Takashi, kneeling, drove the knife through the unprotected foot of the soldier with both hands. He screamed and instinctively looked down at the injury. Takashi tore the blade out of his foot, drew it up and across his eye. Blood flung away from the mans face. He screamed at turned, wildly swinging his blade. Takashi formed further trepidation by cutting the heel tendons of several other. Rolling to and fro, flashing the knife to sever the taut bands that held their legs upright.

"Bah! fool!", said Yoshio as he watched the gates closed behind Takashi, "He's planning on taking all them by himself. Archers ready to cover him", the archers in the turrets on top of the gate readied their bows.

((sorry it's so short I kindof have writers block))
