Description

Image
“Maybe you can afford to wait. Maybe for you there's a tomorrow. Maybe for you there's one thousand tomorrows, or three thousand, or ten, so much time you can bathe in it, roll around it, let it slide like coins through you fingers. So much time you can waste it.But for some of us there's only today. And the truth is, you never really know.”

HAIR COLOR
      Light Brown

EYE COLOR
      Hazel

HEIGHT / WEIGHT
      6'0''(1.85m) / 172lbs (78kg)

CLOTHING
Clothing choice is a bit limited in the world at its current state. But Zane is more particular than most in that he sticks to his normal attire of boots, sturdy pants, and some sort of plain shirt. Nearly impossible to see him without some form of a sturdy coat as well.

LIKES / DISLIKES
Zane can't be said to particularly like or dislike really anything, more like agreeing or disagreeing with certain actions and situations. In his eyes, he does the things he does because they need to be done or for the well-being of those around him.

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.
-- Ecclesiastes 3--

TALENTS
REFLEXES - Much higher than normal, the average time it takes Zane to analyze and react to a situation is scary at times.
PHYSICAL POWERHOUSE - It's no secret he is in shape, but Zane is quite a bit stronger and faster than you would expect from his lean frame. He's not the largest brick sh**house, but he knows what he's doing and he's very experienced.
CHAOS - Simply put, Zane is a master at creating it, and thrives in it, creating an advantage and leveling the playing field for him no matter the situation.

WEAPONS
Long Range - Mossberg M590-A1 12-guage shotgun. Not much in terms of 'long range', but it is his go to weapon of choice in terms of firearms. Sometimes one well-aimed bullet isn't enough to get your point across.
Short Range - Two 31" Telescoping Tactical Batons. Being deadly enough with his bare hands is one thing, but being able to deliver a beat down sending a clear message not to f*** with someone requires a little extra.
Other - Military Tactical Knife he acquired off of a soldier a while back. Sees more use as a tool than as an actual weapon.

SUPPLIES
BACKPACK - An ordinary black backpack
FLASHLIGHT - Small LED flashlightwith an adjustable beam
MULTITOOL - Various screwdrivers, bottle opener, wire strippers, pliers, small knife, small saw, etc....
SNACKS - For some reason its mostly various candies with a few more solid and filling items
ROPE - Appears to be a long length of nylon boat rope
SEWING KIT - Self explanatory. Needles, thread, a few buttons...

PERSONALITY
CLOSED-OFF ✧ HONEST

As stated, Zane won't be winning any social butterfly awards anytime soon. He tends to keep to himself, socializing when its necessary, but not seeking out the company of others if he can help it. Due to the events of his past, he's not the most trusting of individuals and tries to only rely on himself when he is able, giving him more of the lone wolf feel. Though he can seem cold at times, this is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Zane. He does what he does out of the feeling of necessity rather than empathy. Through the life that he was born into, and the events occurring throughout, he has come to grips with the world and its deranged living, believing solely in the fact that you can't always be the good guy and expect to survive.

That being said, he values honesty over most of everything else in their crazy world. They way he views others is at their word and if they can keep it. At the same time, he doesn't see the point in lying without reason and will express his opinion as honestly as possible. Brutally so at times.

BIO

THE CHILD HUNTER

When the world went to sh**, people were panicked and everybody did some questionable things. Especially those who were later labeled as Hunters. Survival made people do some crazy things, but a niche was found with these particular individuals that much easier, if substantially more dangerous. Murder and blood were second hand nature after a time to these individuals and it came with a struggle of need over morality.

Zane didn't adapt to this lifestyle, nor did his brother Zack. The two were born into it and raised to be hunters by their family and friends. A lifestyle that didn't smile kindly on the weak. From a young age, the two were in a constant struggle to carry out their roles, and survive on their own by any means necessary as their group would have just as soon slit their throats and left them behind. More mouths were only a burden if they couldn't pull their weight after all. But the two adapted and fit in easier than expected, able to sneak in or lure unsuspecting groups with their innocent faces and childish charm. They were raised to fight, to fend for themselves, to intimidate, and more importantly, they were raised to kill. Both the zombies....and humans.

THE ENFORCER

As time drew on and the Zombie threat continued to evolve and press in toward the military, the hunters found their only contest to come from other humans and more importantly, other hunter groups. Zane and Zack's group was well off at this point, due in small part to their own budding efforts, and it attracted other groups that wanted what they had. Zane had risen in standing greatly by this point as his skill and adaptability in terms of combat and strategy began to truly flourish and his kill count rose, both human and zombie. Where the groups other teams lost members here and there, Zane's continuously came back alive and relatively unscarred.

A late raid hit their group during one of the runs that had taken Zane and his brother away from the group for a time, returning to find many of their members dead and the majority of their supplies gone or destroyed. The group who had executed the raid was widely known as one of the largest and strongest in the area as well as the most brutal. Zane and Zack were one of the few remaining members of their group when they returned.

A few days passed as the group celebrated their win over Zane's encampment, everyone drinking and boasting of their achievements. Set up at an old oil refinery, they were also one of the few groups with limited power at their disposal and were fortified so few groups would even dare think about attacking them. Naturally, general alarm and confusion swept through the surrounding area when word spread like wildfire. The group's fortified home base had been completely destroyed in the night, a good majority of their members burned alive, eaten by morning, or so disfigured, they must have been beaten to a pulp before they died. A clear message left for any that may have survived: "Mess with us...and we will burn everything you have to the fu**ing dirt."

It was rumored that only one man was seen walking out of the compound, covered in ash as the fires still roared behind him, and carrying the head of the groups leader...

A STAB IN THE BACK

Zane and Zack set out on their own after that, as did the rest of what was left of their old home. Everywhere they went, they heard rumors of what they had done, more and more far fetched at every telling. They became scavengers after that, leaving their old lifestyle in hopes of also leaving the past behind them. The two took on more infested areas than normal, gaining larger scores to vend. They steered away from the military as much as they could, smuggling what they found to the highest bidders, but the rumors and stories still caught up with them. Time will always tell the same story. You can only run as fast as you can, but eventually the past will catch up to you. And that's exactly what happened to the brothers.

A few years passed when the two were ambushed along one of their routes, held up at gun point with an overwhelming and unnecessary amount of men for normal hunters. A former member of their original group who had survived the raid had sold them out. The man sold the information to the remaining members of the large group Zane had thought was all but ash in the ground by now for sanctuary and an obvious bid at life. Zane and Zack were bound and drug through the dirt back to a small, rag tag encampment that was laughable compared to what the group once had, all thanks to the brothers.

Revenge was on the menu. Blood for blood, even though the brothers' actions had been nothing but retaliation. Torture was the main course, the obvious focus on Zane as it was evident the doing was mostly his. Death was inescapable, and the group made sure there was no hope that they would get out of this alive. Right there in front of his own eyes, Zane watch as they peeled the skin from his brother, his only family, and eventually killed him in the firelight of the camp. And they let him stew, knowing what was coming for him.

RETRIBUTION

One thing that people never learn, is never give the chance for something to happen and foil your plans. The firelight and celebration attracted zombies, and in the confusion, even slight as it was with a group of trained killers that were easily able to take down a few zombies, Zane got free. Pushed to the brink of insanity and filled with rage and despair, the devil himself couldn't have stopped Zane, and by the end of the night, only two of the dozen men were still breathing as they fled like scared dogs toward the nearest military encampment.

Hell itself couldn't have kept Zane away as he eventually caught the two in broad daylight a week later on the streets of the same military compound. Witnesses all around and everywhere to hide, Zane had found the men, and left them dead on the streets as he fled in the ensuing confusion.

A NEW LIFE

The pieces fell together after the events, the raids leading up to the massacre of one of the most lethal Hunting groups around, the rumors of the solitary man, the inconspicuous scavengers targeted by the remnants of said group, and the torture and killing that led to another rumored story. Witnesses pointed a rough recount of events in Zane's direction. A rough sketch of his face to be on the lookout for and the label Rogue as an identifier. The stories were well-known short after, if highly exaggerated, and any groups who had seen the posters of him steered clear of Zane at all costs.

"Hidden in plain sight."
~ G H O S T ~

A vicious snarl emitted from Ghost's right, who's glowing eyes glanced over at the young giant feline who crouched beside her. Ghost hissed, the sound completely nonhuman. The hiss silenced the mountain lion, who Ghost had named Leo causing the large docile cat to curl into Ghost's side, warming the area. Leo purred as Ghost stroked his head as she continued to look through the scope of her sniper, watching the action that had caused Leo to snarl. Two heavily armed men had just killed a fleeing couple and were now stringing up the carcasses.

'Cannibals' Ghost thought bitterly as she watched the scene. The coppery scent of blood mixed with the fresh scent of rain, both scents twirling together and making a rather unpleasant odor attack Ghost's sensitive nose. Her stomach flipped, making her feel sick as she glared through the scope at the backs of the receding men.

"Disgusting men" Ghost growled once the men completely disappeared. Slowly she crawled out from her hiding place she and Leo had slept in overnight. It was only two old dumpsters with a cardboard box over top of them and a trashcan in front of her, but with Ghost's senses and Leo warmth it wasn't such a bad night. But the wake up call was rather disturbing, the screams of the couple had been rather heart wrecking and gut twisting.

Leo followed loyally beside Ghost as they wander around the abandoned, decrepit city. The city was surprisingly bare no more humans and no zombies, Ghost couldn't even hear anything but the cheery chirp of morning birds and the random caws of a raven. Yet even in this state of stillness Ghost was ridge and ready to pounce.

They walked through the city for a while, looking for anything of use. There was one building with a high density of spores and Ghost signaled the cougar to stay put while she venture forward. Fungal growth covered the walls of the foggy room, the only scents in the room was death and the rank smell of trash. Ghost sighed and started to head out of the building when she heard Leo's snarl. Ghost sniffed in worry and rushed out, leaving the building just in time. A V2 zombie was readying itself to pounce on the stiffened feline. The bony, hollow looking creature gurgled and hissed, its lengthened claws pointing hazardously at Leo. Ghost's thundering growl made the V2 swiftly look at her, giving Leo the moment to hide behind Ghost who was now positioned to attack. Removing her hood and mask Ghost's glowing icy eyes met the dull glowing crimson of the zombies. The white haired woman pulled back her lips in a snarl, flashing her lengthy canines in a threatening manner. With pinky length canines, white hair, glowing eyes and retraceable lengthening claws Ghost looked bit terrifying then the zombie in front of her. The zombie tried to step closer but Ghost snarled and stood her ground, swiping her claws at the monster. The zombie hissed and stepped back but Ghost didn't give it a chance to flee. She pounced, elbowing the zombie in the throat and pushed it to the ground, the hybrid woman landing on top of it. Without hesitation Ghost ripped the zombies throat up and took off its head, throwing it on the ground before crashing it under her boot.

Ghost hissed one last time before grabbing and putting back on her cloak and mask before patting Leo and on the head. Leaving the decapitated body of the dead zombie behind Ghost and Leo continued to wander around.
