a character in “Ace Combat: Generations”, as played by Lost_chance

Description

Description: Chance is a very quiet person, but can be kind when need be. He rarely smiles due to a mild depression, and deep darkness in his past, and his usual anti-social nature sort of makes him an outcast most of his military career. He has shown his love for animals, for he keeps a dog named Rufus around as his companion. Chance also loves reading and reads whenever he is able to. He's also known to be a quick thinker and a bit of a smart alec at times, which irritates most of the people he meets, but he laughs as he finds it really amusing.

Chance is very skinny, but he is strong and quick, with slightly pale skin that suits well with his dark-ish blue hair. His hair always somehow flow in the right direction no matter where the wind blows. He wears a fur Jacket that contains his old Air Squadron's tag "Blue Phoenix" as he was the last survivor of that squad. Chance is a very tall, possibly 6 feet 7 inches, and because he knows 4 different martial arts sets, his legs and arms are really well built, although they don't look like it. He's a complete virgin, due to a "sex before marriage oath" which, in turn it doesn't really matter cause he really doesn't mind people too much.

Age: 21
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Ethnicity: Caucasian, and Asian

Height: 6' 7''
Weight: 205 Ib
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Blue

Birthplace: Stravghli, Yllior
Current Location/Residence: Aerino Base, Yllior

Station: Aerino Base
Rank: 2nd Lieutenant
Personal Aircraft: F5E

Strengths: He's capable guy that can look out for his friends, he could handle himself in a fight. Chance is also a natural pilot gaining the reputation of "Stravghli's Angel."
Weakness: He can't let go of his past, He's very rash when it comes to his anger. Chance is very impatient when it comes to battle.

Personality: Chance is a quiet and very anti-social guy, not really wishing to talk to people. He can be kind answering in a couple phrases or the occasional sentence, or he can be very cold towards people. He's extremely loyal to what he believes in, and if there are orders that he question, he will question it, even if it risks his career in the military. Despite his outcast, kind to cold attitude he does have things that he cares about that he prefers not to show, as he thinks that it doesn't really matter anymore. Chance is also very abrupt when people know him long enough, but few people do know him long enough or live long enough to tell others due to the war.

Chance is the maturest and serious person you could meet, due to his experiences in a war. thus, when it comes to people that mess with those close to him, or his country. He won't be afraid to outwit that person, or have him in the E.R. for a couple months. He's very righteous and courageous, not afraid to die and is always ready to die even if the mission is downright suicidal. He also never forgets, and always return the favor be it kindness or not.

Biography: Chance was born in Stravghli, Yllior. A southeastern coastline village at least 70 miles away from the Vezoal Base. He was the youngest of 9 children, that of which his parents always favored them over him. But, despite of that he had a sense of duty towards his family, of which he loved dearly. Born to the village head at that time, he was raised to follow the traditions of his family, which included a variety of long lost martial arts, and even swordsmanship at a very early age.

Chance attended at Shinetsk High School until he was 16, in which he graduated early due to extremely high marks in his class. The day after graduation day the nation of Edylla had started attacking Yllior in their scorch earth tactic, sending out a Blitzkrieg of planes, and ground forces to rush and burn all of Yllior's valuable assets. In which Stravghli was the village in between one of those assets. So in which he went and joined the Village local militia joined by some of the military to defend that village but in the suing battle he was gravely injured and evacuated with the retreating forces, as he watched the slow slaughter of his village, his family, and his girlfriend Alyssa. Leaving them all to be massacred.

He woke up in the hospital later after days of being in an unconscious state. Left with only a pendant to remind him of what his past was like. He immediately joined the Air Force as soon as he could and fought in numerous skirmishes with the enemy earning him the nick name of "Stravghli's Angel." But, in turn his disobedience was the coming of his demise and he was demoted and sent to Aerino Base. That couldn't hold him though, for he didn't care about rank, his family and his whole village was killed, and he wants revenge.

So begins...

"Attention all Areino Base personnel. Report to battle stations immediately. I repeat report to all battle stations. This is not a drill."

As soon as he had heard that he dropped his brook from his table and began running to hangar 3 where his F-5E was and jumped inside the cockpit. He then started up the plane as the people ground workers began opening up the hangar doors. He trusted the plane up to where runway 6 is along with two or three other planes, and wait till he got clearance to take off "Come on control... I cant wait forever now.." he said frustrated. Suddenly he heard transmissions from control "Blue Phoenix 6 you are ready to take off. Good luck up there." the control personell said. Immediately, he took off as fast as he can with two other planes following behind, but one plane got shot before it can even leave he ground. Chance pulled up and did an air back flip immediately once he was airborne because of his lock-on to his aircraft then immediately spraying the plane that was chasing him with bullets.

He flew off to higher altitudes to where the battle between allied planes and unknown planed were happening. Once he got up there he saw a F-16C flying crazily in the air, almost hitting him. "Watch your flying out there! You're gonna get yourself killed or some other poor guy killed if you do!" he said right after he switched on his radio. He then shot down the first wave of planes with the F-16C plane and a couple other planes, and had formed into formation with them

He sighs, "this is going to be a really long night." he said to himself as he detects more enemy aircraft arriving

"All allied aircraft prepare to engage! Kill 'em all boys!" I said through the radio as we broke off formation and begin scattering with the whole skies getting filled up with smoke from the AA cannons and the explosions of aircraft be it allied or not. Chance focused on one of the enemy planes in Sector B of Areino Base, but to his surprise he was also being tailed by an enemy aircraft watching his back. He tried to do evasive maneuvers from their lock-on but didn't seem to lose him. "God damn it! You bastards aren't taking me down so easily!" He said with frustration. Chance then hit the brakes as he noticed the plane was chasing him in high speeds, then unloaded him with guns. As soon as he was focusing on his pursuer, the aircraft that he was chasing started turning back and attempted to crash right into him. "Damn bastards are just as suicidal as i am!" He said to himself as he gave a smirk. He then turned back around and started flying towards the plane and hit the eject switch, and flew out of the plane and started parachuting out slowly to the ground. As he was parachuting down he saw the unknown enemy aircraft started to pull back and retreat while the sky was hitting dawn and filled with smoke.

He landed and saw that there were many planes that crashed around, some allies, some enemies, and a lot of people hurt. He helped the injured to the Medical Center, then he went to be debriefed by his C.O. a puffy man wearing an Airforce uniform that seemed to barely fit him. Chance knew another was brewing up and he had a guess why, but what he was curious if this was the only base that was attacked. He was also wonder if there will be a joint operation from all the bases like there was before, and who would be the one assigned with who. He was always a loner, but this time, he would actually like to keep those that are assigned with him alive.

Of course things aren't as easy as it seems, for this time he gets sent out to Surora Base to meet up with the rest of the Airforce for a joint operation. An even farther place away from home. He sighed as he grips his pendant.

Alright so here's what's gonna happen. After all the surprise attacks that these damned Edylla have given us, we have decided to regroup all nearby friendly aircrafts, and move upwards to where Surora is. For the damage that our bases have taken force us to concentrate in that area. The Naval Units have gone up north with their Aircraft and it's just you maggots. This is a war people, so get their safely eat your last meal and get ready for a deadly fight to the death. Especially with your new squads, so fear not Blue Phoenix 1, you won't be a lone bird anymore. Dismissed!

He sighed and walked back to my room to start packing what little i have. He dazed off into sleep until my alarm rang off and then He put on my gear and jumped in my plane. I went to the recently cleared airstrip and started taking off with Squad C. It was a long fly, but Chance managed fly over to Surora base at 12:00 am. He was practically tired just like C Squad for by the time both of them got off, they were about to collapse. He stayed up awake a little more where he saw a guy walk by with the name of Alex, and then he passed out from exhaustion.

(third time fixing this, hope this helps!)

Chance wakes up the next morning on a bunk similar to his old one at Areino Base. He got off from the bed and looked out the window next to his bunk, and saw planes rolling in and workmen running all around. Chance got a knock from the door. "Airman first class Chance Williams! Sorry to interrupt but i think it's about time to wake up and look at your new squadron assignments!" The stranger said outside the door. I opened it and saw Lieutenant Josh Nevergreen, a person that was at Areino Base that was in Lionhead squadron. "Here let me lead you." He said as he motioned chance to follow. Chance followed to where a billboard stands and everyone is crowded around it. I went up to the billboard and read the Squadron Assignment page.

Chance looked down to where his name then sighed. oh brother . he thought to himself. War Angel Squadron He read in his head the name of his new squadron and his number.

(you guys can put it in further because i wanna make sure i dont screw things up)

Chance walks stands there in front of the billboard. Sighed, and then he walked back to the quarters area in which he saw two men and a woman. 1 had dirty pilot clothes, which was obvious, and the other seemed like he was talking to both the man with dirty clothes and the girl. He ignored them and walk but accidentally bumped into them. He stopped and turned around and then sighed and try to walk away.

why is it always me he thought to himself. Not knowing how they would react. He went to the Cafeteria to get some quick chow. "Hey what Squad did you guys get?" One of the Airmen said. "I got Wareagle Squadron!" Said another one enthusiastically. "Hey Chance buddy what did you get?" Lieutenant Josh asked me as he sat down next to me, then the other pilots sitting on my table hushed up and waited for me to answer. "War Angel..." Chance said to them annoyed. Chance lost his lunch soon after, and got up and walked away hearing the whispers of his other pilots. He wasn't a fan of fame or glory, but he didn't like the fact that it might be like the last war that was fought in which his whole squad was left dead, and he was alone again just like the Scorch Earth tactic that the damned Edylla made.

Chance couldn't sleep at all due to the large amounts of sleep he got the other day. So he spent most of the time reading till it was 0730. He then grabbed his book and started reading while walking to hangar C. As he was walking while reading he wondered what it would be like not being Blue Phoenix 1 or Blue Phoenix. It would certainly be different. He thought to himself. He entered through the hangar and saw two people already there. A man, and the woman he bumped into. He realized that there might be unnecessary trouble, so he decided to still keep quiet like usual and only response to commands, and get used to being War Angel 3. He arrived and sat in a chair and started reading a children's book called "Teddy Bear's Delight" to keep his mind off the war. He then gripped onto his closed pendant, not knowing that at the same time his eyes were beginning to tear up. He quickly catched it and then wiped it away as quickly as he can, and took a deep breath. He then faced both the man and woman and introduced himself, but couldn't bear to do it.

So instead he continued reading the children's book, staying silent at the same time. I hate my life. He thought to himself as he waits for his other wingman and the C.O for briefing

”I’m still learning the ins and outs of flying in real combat outside of the simulator, but I have faith in my fellow pilots. Breaking my leg came as a bit of a blow and prevented me from flying with them, but now I am free to join them in the skies… providing I don’t look down too often.”

Lucky waited for everyone to show up before he started the briefing.

"Alright everyone, listen up!" He said, standing up and walking to the center of the little semi-circle they all formed.

"Not all of us are from the same bases, not all of us are friends. Tough shit. Right now, the only thing you need to be concerned with is that we're a team. We're going to fly as a team, and we're going to treat one another as teammates. If you have problems with anyone, you bring it to my attention first and I'll decide where to go from there. If it can be solved, I'll solve it. If it can't, I'll discuss with the higher ups to get you on another squad."

He looked around.

"Any questions?" He asked, looking around.

Nobody seemed to have any, so he nodded.

"Good, then we can continue. Our first job is a recon mission. We're flying vector 080 degrees east to a rendezvous point eighty miles out to sea to a naval gathering with two aircraft carriers. We're to land on the carriers to refuel before flying vector 170 degrees south sixty miles before returning home. If we find anything along the way we are to engage in communications. If those fail, I'll receive permission from home base to return fire. Until then, all weapons safe. No engagements without my say so."

He looked around.

"Any questions?"

Again, none.

"Excellent! Then get in your planes and taxi single file by your squad number to runway two. It's been cleared of all debris and is safe for landing and take off. Let's get moving."

With that, Lucky hopped up into his plane and kicked up the engines. He tested his instruments and checked with tower for the clearance to take off. Once he got the okay, he let everyone know it was time to get moving. Angel followed him out as she was War Angel 2, with the others following in numerical order behind her. Lucky fired up his afterburners and took off, Angel and the others in toe.

"Alright everyone, comms up and keep in communication. We're flying a simple formation. Angel is #2 on my wing. Alex, you're #3. Mr. 'Stravghli's Angel' is #4. Stick to my tail and don't wander."

"This is Angel 2, roger." Kasumi responded.

"This is Angel 4 roger." Chance said as he went in his plane, responded, and then followed in from behind Angel 3, or Alex. He got to Runway 2 and was ready to take off. "I honestly hope this mission isn't going to be a pain in the ass." He said with a sigh. He then began to took off with Lucky, Angel, and Alex. "Now that we are up in the air and know our mission, why don't we just introduce ourselves? It's gonna be a long fly and I would like to know who is part of my team a bit more." He said quietly in the radio, before an AWACS plane came in. "This is Sky Eye and we are in command of you guys." The person in the AWACS said. Chance then begin to sighed as he knew what was going to happen next. A long ass introduction by the Awacs like usual. he thought to himself as he looked around to see what was the North exactly like in the afternoon. He realized that he actually loved travelling. He then took a deep breath and said on the radio. "This is Angel 4, name's Chance..." He said as he looked around some more and noticed some unidentified targets. "Unidentified targets on my radar, do you guys see them?" Chance said on high alert.

"Angel 3, orders confirmed." Alex went up in the replacement F-5E that he'd been assigned, and took up his position off Angel 2's right wing. The F-5E's loadout made it blatantly obvious that this wasn't any ordinary recon mission.
Twin launch rails on each wing, fitted with four AIM-7F Sparrows, and four AIM-120D AMRAAMs, not to mentions the AIM-9M Sidewinders on the wingtip launch rails. This isn't recon. This is Search and Destroy.

"Now that we are up in the air and know our mission, why don't we just introduce ourselves? It's gonna be a long fly and I would like to know who is part of my team a bit more."

That came from Angel 4, Chance. Alex was about to reply with a request to save the intros for the ground after the mission when an E-3 Sentry pulling AEW&C duty came onto the comms. No sooner did they check out than Chance came back onto the comms, this time with a more serious tone in his voice.

"Unidentified targets on my radar, do you guys see them?"

Alex's eyes shot to his own radar screen. "I've got pings from AWACS." He confirmed. "Sev-, no, eight bogies, maintaining steady Northeast flight path."
AWACS came back quickly. "They're confirmed as bandits. You guys are the only flight operating in that section of airspace."

Alex didn't hesitate. He set an AMRAAM ready to fire, but his radar had the enemy out at 200 nautical miles, just a bit more than double his maximum range. "Angel Lead, your orders?"

"Wait for Angel Lead's orders goddamn it!" Chance said extremely frustrated. "We don't know clearly what is to happen, we are here to do recon but as Angel 1 said we are not to engage, and if you don't follow orders you could get your ass a court martial with the higher ups." Chance explained a little bit annoyed. "Angel 1 what's your orders sir, do we engage or no? Or do we go and check if they are actually hostile or not, and go by usual airspace warnings and requests on the radio." Chance asked seriously, because it could mean either life and death in this situation, and he chooses not to die yet. "God, why is it the recons that get taken out first." Chance said. As he is hearing silence from in the radio, because everyone is trying to hear Lucky's orders.

Chance looked up from the window of his plane. "Royal Dragon's Squadron uh?.." He said to himself with his radio off. He remembered then gripped on his pendant at the memories of first seeing those insignia's on the plane during the time Stavghli was taken and pillaged to the ground. Immediately making him remember why he joined the Air Force in the first place. He swore that he would pay all of those Edylla bastards back. "Alright let's get this over with..." Chance said sternly, but without emotion over the radio as the Royal Dragon Squadron was flying off on their own path. He continued flying in formation with his squadron. "This is Angel 4, callsign Lost. We are close to the designated Recon area. While we are at it, what we we supposed to be looking for exactly? You know to where we just got our asses saved by the Royal Dragon Squadron." He said as he noticed something on the ground. "Hey you guys see that? What's on the ground?" He said trying to look at the ground. "What is that?" He said as he took a picture of it with the camera attached to his plane for these specific reasons, and sent it to AWACS.

"Angel 1 what are your orders? Stay in formation or do you want one of us to investigate it?" He said curious hoping he could break away from his steady formation to check out what it is.

"Angel 4, Roger..." Chance said with a sigh. He began to taxi his plane to runway two right behind Angel 3, waited for takeoff. "Where to now sir ?" Chance said with emphasis on the sir. He was exhausted, and felt like Lucky didn't like him at all, probably because he thinks that he's a nugget that doesn't know shit, but honestly he's just the same. Just suck it up . He thought to himself. Chance knew that even if it was mistreatment or whatever, he would have to just suck it up and deal with it. He has a goal and that's revenge for his family and his village, and he has nothing left to lose. So he must live to provide them peace that they didn't die in vain, and that if he dies he dies protecting his country, and his comrades. "I'm sorry... let's just get this over with..." He said on the radio again waiting for control to give the green light for his squad to take off.

He's not sure what's going to happen next, but he had a very bad feeling about it. I guess it was today's excuse of a lunch that made it even worse.

"Well it's hard getting someone as beautiful as her" Chance said with a joking manner, then switched to serious. "Wait, isn't the destination we are heading to miles off to where I found a downed plane that was one of ours?" Chanced said. "Man, not only does this give me a bad feeling but today's excuse for a lunch sure isn't helping at all." Chance said sickly. trying to fly in formation. "Hey Angel if I get shot down it's probably cause I fell for ya." Chance said Jokingly again trying to keep the horrible thoughts of something bad happening to them, just like his old squadron.

He gripped on his pendant again, having the memories of his fallen comrades and his family. I won't die, and I won't let these people go down... Chance thought to himself.

"I know I heard the first time, it just makes me feel really nervous, luckily we're going with caution..." Chance said thinking about it closely. "Hey if we all live for the next day then drinks are on me." Chance said in a offering friendly tone. "Of course, ill add something extra for my little sweetheart over there ha." He said implying to Kasumi, thinking at the same time about his deceased ex Alyssa. I'm sorry he thought to himself as he continued flying in formation with them. "While we are flying, how about we introduce ourselves like before?" Chance said curious. "Name's Chance, what about you Angel's?" He said laughing off there squad name.

"Angel 4, roger" Chance said as he flew 400 feet down close the the black thing. "I don't know what to make from it, it's completely wrecked Angel 1, but there seems to be an insignia on it that is still intact. It looks similar to... It's an Edylla Insignia!" Chance said in high alert. "From what i could see it could be from the Edylla Satellite Angel 1, it seems like it to from it's insignia, the boar with razor sharp teeth." Chance said explaining about the launch of the Edylla Satellite years ago. He doesn't like the thought of this, a crashed Edylla Satellite in Yllior territory and miles away is a downed plane that was one of his. "Permission to fly up and have this reported in with command. I honestly do not like the thought of this." He said still flying low and around it. It's way too risky He thought to himself, as he keeps circling around the site.

"Roger Angel 4. Get on up here. I'll report this to command."

Lucky patched himself through to command.

"Angel, do you have the shot yet?"

"Ten more seconds," she responded.

She lined up the shot, fighting her urge to pass out from dizziness from having to look down. She lined it up, and hit the trigger. The shot was clean and the object was in the center.

"Shot is clear and ready. I'm sending it to you now."

"Roger... Photo received."

Lucky turned on the comm.

"Command, this is Angel 1. We have identified the object as a downed Edyllian satellite. I'm sending you the photo from Angel 2 now."

"Roger Angel 1. Data is incoming now... Data received... Interesting. Keep your wits about you up there. It's not likely that Edyllia would leave the satellite alone for long. They'll want it and its technology back. We're sending out Royal Dragon squadron now to act as back up until a retrieval team arrives to gather the wreckage. Keep your eyes on it until they get there."

"Roger, Angel 1 out."

Kasumi took her place in formation behind Lucky.

"So now we play babysitter to a downed satellite. That sounds exciting."

"Stay on guard Angel. If command is right, we'll be seeing enemies soon. Eyes on your radar. If you see anything that doesn't immediately register as a friendly, call it out immediately. I'll attempt communications and if it fails, consider yourself greenlit for engagement."

"Angel 2, roger."

"Angel 4, roger. Man after this im hitting the book then going to sleep." Chance said exhausted. "Everything just happens so quickly you know?" Chance said with a serious tone. "First the attacks, then moving to the north, and now i meet my great team, a rejected fox and a beauty, oh i could see it on t.v as a weird sitcom." Chance said to brighten up the mood. He flew up to formation. He realized he was surprisingly talking more then usual. It really weirded him out, and he realized he might enjoy his team like before with his old comrades. "So what do you guys got plan for tonight? Cause I feel completely bored considering I'm new in this northern part of the country, and with all of this war talks and battles, it's gonna be stressful." He said trying to lighten up the mood considering who knows what could happen. "And, back to before Angel sounds heavenly, although I like kasumi, it does have a prettier name, plus you are who you are, better get used to that name you know? But, hey after this mission I'm eating out, you want to come with, Dough, Angel?" Chance said in a nonchalant tone. Hopefully Kasumi would think wrongly and think that I'm asking her out. He thought as he gave out a smirk out from inside his plane.

"I hear you on that one Chance," Lucky responded.

"I don't really have anything planned for when we get back. I'll probably do what I usually do. Get a bite, go to bed, wake up the next day and do whatever comes to mind until I get new orders... Which is kind of lame now that I think about it."

Kasumi laughed.

"So, Chance... That wasn't a request for a date was it?" She asked.

"Regardless, I'll have to decline. I do have plans for tonight."

Lucky flipped the comm.

"And you didn't invite me?! Angel! I'm hurt!"

Kasumi laughed.

'Oh bite me. It's training you dummy. I'm going to work out when we get back and I consider it more important than eating out. I can eat anytime, but if I don't train often enough I lose my edge."

"Can I workout with you? I'd love to see you in yoga pants and boxing gloves."

Kasumi laughed out loud over the comms, but was stopped dead in her tracks when her radar picked up a blip for a brief instant.

"Was that...?" She asked.

The radar blipped again, and slowly, over the course of fifteen seconds, five blips appeared on the radar approaching their position.

"I have five unknowns moving in fast Lucky," she called to him.

"Roger that, I'm already connecting... Attention unidentified pilots, you are entering Ylliorian airspace. Identify yourselves immediately or we will open fire."

There was only static on the comms.

"I repeat. Identify yourselves or we will fire on you!" He yelled into the comm.

Again, static.

"Angels 2 and 3, you are green lit for combat. All weapons free. Take them down!" He yelled.

"Angel 2, roger!"

Kasumi flipped off the safety switch and prepared her sidewinder missiles for combat. Five enemies, two allies. They were lightly outnumbered, but with any luck they'd all make it back safe.

"Angel 3 roger!"

Chance said as he flipped off the safety and began charging his plane at theirs and then made a quick dive and climbed upwards to where he's upside down but behind the enemy planes, he had a missile locked on one of the unknown enemy planes, he pressed on the fire button as hard as he can and hit the plane, making it fall down slowly in flames and explode in the air.

"I got one!" Chance said confirming the kill.

He then realized that the unknown, but hostile one of the hostile planes have turned around and is going after him by surprise.

"Shit! I got a bogey on my tail, fox 2!" Chance says, trying to evade the hostile plane but is failing.

He goes in different evasive maneuvers but the plane is latched onto him like glue.

"This guy won't quit! Hey can anybody help me out here?!" Chance says while going in constant twirls and movements.

”I’m still learning the ins and outs of flying in real combat outside of the simulator, but I have faith in my fellow pilots. Breaking my leg came as a bit of a blow and prevented me from flying with them, but now I am free to join them in the skies… providing I don’t look down too often.”

The enemies swooped in faster than Kasumi had expected.

The skies were a mini war zone in a matter of moments and chaos ensued. Lucky was being tailed by two enemies right away, as the must have realized he was the lead pilot. Kasumi and Chance both had a tail with one more keeping its distance. She began to wonder if that was their lead pilot.

Chance asked for help, but Lucky was in no shape to give him any. Kasumi had to find a way to lose her tail if she was going to help him, but this guy was being stubborn. Every maneuver she pulled, he stayed right on her. But then, she had an idea.

"Angel 3, this is Angel 2. Fly vector 180 South and U turn to vector 0 North. I'll go the opposite way. Let's see how well these guys play 'Chicken.'" She said.

With that, she flew north and lined herself up on vector 180 south to prepare for a head on collision with Chance. Of course, they'd veer at the last moment to avoid contact, but their tails would have to either break before they did or they would end up crashing into each other as Kasumi and Chance veered.

Hopefully, Chance would know what she was up to. If not, this could end very badly.

"Roger that sweetheart! let's get this into gear!" Chance said struggling to maneuver away from the hostile aircraft's machine gun.

He heard Kasumi's chatter, and immediately flew 180 South and made a U turn to vector 0 North. He knew what she was doing, but the thought of that was indeed really risky.

"You ready sweetheart?! Your call on what to do, eject or hope to god we don't crash into each other!" Chance said calming himself down.

He then felt a hit on his plane, a bullet nipped a part of his aircraft, but he can still fly.

"Damn Edylla.... you ready Beautiful?!" Chance said irritated.

This was going to turn out one way or another, and he was not going to get shot down.

Kasumi lined herself up with Chance, a few bullets digging into the body of her plane. Remarkably, it remained in tact. But there were a few plates that were shaking loose now. They had to end this quickly if they were going to stay in the air for much longer.

"Alright, on three break to your left."

The two rocketed towards each other with the enemies in hot pursuit.

"One... Two... Three!" She yelled.

She banked hard left, the belly of her plane just missing that of Chance's as they raced by each other. The two enemy planes struggle to evade one another, but in their attempts they both began losing control and spinning out.

"Now! They're vulnerable! Hit em!" Lucky yelled.

"Roger!"

Kasumi quickly lopped around and lined up her enemy as they began leveling out. She flipped the cap and hit the launch button and her sidewinder flew off. She crossed her fingers and grit her teeth as the missile began sailing right on target, but the enemy managed to roll away from it.

"Dammit!"

The enemy hadn't shaken off what had happened, and was flying sluggishly.

"Okay, so you managed to evade that. How about this instead?"

She launched a missile at his tail, knowing full well that whichever direction he turned, she'd have to bank harder to be able to shoot ahead of him. Sure enough, the pilot began a bank to the right, and Kasumi banked with him. She aimed her nose ahead of his path and let fly with her machine gun. The bullets began taking over its flight path, and ripped into the canopy. The glass of the cockpit cracked, and she pulled the trigger again as she hit the throttle.

The bullets ripped through the cockpit, and she was so close she could see it painted red in seconds. The problem... She was close enough to see the cockpit painted red. The plane shook itself apart and exploded in front of her, sending debris flying at her before it ripped into the body. She felt the plane shake and tremble, and she began losing control. The stick was feeling loose, as if the wiring had been damaged.

"This is Angel 2... My plane's damaged! I don't know how long I can keep her in the air!"

"Hang tight Angel! We're coming for you!" Lucky called.

Being a Captain, he had enough skill to outmaneuver the other pilots and take down one of them before coming to help. The other one was badly damaged and was fleeing the airspace, and he chose to let him leave. The other pilot, the one who'd been watching, was still hovering nearby.

"Angel, stay with me now. Keep calm and go through your checks."

"... Right... Okay, here we go."

Kasumi ran through her checks, and made sure her instruments were still functional before trying the stick again. It was still a bit loose, but it was still working. Just barely. She kept the plane in the air before looking out to the other pilot who was still just hovering nearby.

"What's he doing?"

"I don't know, and I don't care," Lucky responded.

Then, the strange pilot turned and shot down his own retreating ally before turning back around towards Lucky and Angel.

"Oh great, he's a team killer." Lucky groaned.

The pilot was aiming directly at them before he banked off to the side and turned to flee the battle space. Kasumi and Lucky were both wondering what the hell was going on. They saw the Royal Dragon squadron on radar, but they were too far away to be any help. So what was the point in turning away and leaving? He could have taken either of them down given her plane's condition. But it left.

However, before it left, Kasumi took note of the insignia on its tail.

"That pilot had a red wolf painted on its tail. Any idea what that means?" She asked.

"I have no idea, but again, I don't care. So long as we're all good to go that's all I care about," Lucky said.

"Oh Christ.... We just went against one of Edylla's greatest pilots the "Red Wolf..." Never got shot down and would rather shoot his team mates down if they showed any signs of weakness..." Chance said quietly.

"I'm not going to lie that son of a bitch is hard to deal with, by himself he could take out a squadron, except of course the RDS who are here right now..." Chance said on the radio.

"Now that the Royal Dragon Squadron are here can we go back to base, I need a drink after this mess, and hey Kasumi, fly like that and you'll get us all killed." Chance said jokingly.

"So what time do you want me to pick you up Angel 2? After the gym of course, you too Dough I think this is deserves a celebration for our near death." Chance said as he sighed being happy about survival with his team.

Chance then circled his plane and went back into formation with the rest of his team. He smiled, he was actually going to like his team.

"No, Angels 2 and 3. That's not the Red Wolf. The insignia wasn't that of a wolf at all, but rather a mythical creature from legends that resembles a wolf. But trust me, this is far worse," came the voice of the Commander of the Royal Dragons over the comms as the squadron passed by overhead.

"The Red Wolf was one of Edylla's greatest pilots until he was shot down and confirmed to have been killed by my predecessor over forty years ago during one of Edylla's incursions into our territory. Luckily that never escalated to all out war, but it was a tense time for sure."

Kasumi was rather astonished to be hearing this, but what came next caused her to lose most of the color in her face.

"If our intel is to be trusted, this is the Crimson Valko. He is Edylla's best pilot. Not one of the best. The best. Even our squadron would have had trouble taking him down if the rumors of his skill are anywhere close to being true. That display wasn't for pride or revenge against a deserter. A pilot has every right to pull a damaged plane out of combat with honor, but this was a demonstration of sheer ruthlessness. It was his way of showing you that if he's willing to do that to his own pilot just for sport, what would he do to you?"

"Alright Commander, that's enough. My pilots are weary as it is. No need to get them worked up," Lucky finally chimed in.

"Fair enough Lucky. Go ahead and lead your team home. We'll take over the guard mission now until the retrieval team arrives. They should be here soon."

"Roger. Angels 2 and 3, we're going home."

"... Angel 2, roger," Kasumi whispered.
