In the language of the D'jix, there are twenty five words to express the concept of love. There are over one thousand for the concept of profit.
Society: D'jix society is ruled with the sword, but the only way to attain such power is through coin. The strongest of the D'jix is often at the head of the table, such also means the wealthiest of the D'jix is one and the same. Cybernetic augmentation is revered with great awe, only warriors who've proven themselves valorous in battle or those of material wealth can attain such modification. The D'jix, since their exile, have taken it upon themselves to enslave and exploit races inferior to the D'jix, two such races are the insect Idreuans and the fishy Ezobidites, several of both species have achieved the honor of augmentation. The D'jix place great value on one's honor, attained through acquisition of material wealth, the capturing of prisoners, and glory in battle, as many D'jix are often remembered either for their riches or the number of pitiable creatures that they enslaved.
On another note, cannibalism is an accepted practice in D'jix culture, as the lacking variety of native life to their homeworld had forced them at times to revert to devouring their own kin in order to survive, and has much cultural regard around the act. The one consuming the other often takes on a sliver of their honor and capability when they do such.
Governments/Leadership: The D'jix are ruled by a Hegemony, the leadership changing every few decades, often in a bloody coup. Very rarely does a designated heir take over the position of power, unless they prove themselves worthy against those who would have the 'throne', usually in combat. The Fleet is ruled by a Grand Marshall, who often adopts their own personally preferred title to accompany the official one, who exercises absolute power over the fleet. Those who challenge their power are subject to individual combat with the Marshall, more often than not resulting in their death, in the rare case that one should succeed, however, they take on the role of Marshall. The capital colony ship changes from marshall to marshall.
Factions: The Fleet is often subject to infighting, the small factions that resist often forming and dying off on there own within a decade or two. Though the marshall often commands enough respect and fear to unite it to serve their agenda, which usually revolves around greater profit for the Fleet as a whole.
Jump Gates: The nomadic nature of the Fleet means that they have the potential to use several, but own none. Six jumpgates within two systems they've forces in at the moment.
Technology: The most obvious and striking technological advancement of the D'jixic race is the integration of their biological being with cybernetic augmentation, allowing for many incredible acts on the part of those augmented, such as increased speed, superhuman strength, heightened senses and the like. Weaponry is largely based around kinetics and mass drivers, both in space and in atmo, accompanied with liberal application of missiles.
Ship Design: The Fleet is based around the five massive colony ships, accompanying vessels are almost always of a militant nature, and take on a rather sharp, angular appearance. Their vessels are usually rhomboid in appearance, and their length greatly exceeds their width. All vessels are painted in tribal colors, indicating the heritage of the captain.
Military Design: D'jix society is based almost entirely around the military, being a rather violent and dominant race, the military has been the life of the fleet since their exile, considering that every vessel should be capable of combat, should it come to it. With personal status being decided with the acquisition of wealth or slaves, as well as performance in battle, combat is desired by all D'jix who wish for respect. Relatively unmodified D'jix are often clad in ceramic armor, armed with mass accelerators. Rank is often displayed by decorations on one's pauldrons, trophies taken from fallen enemies often hang from one's equipment belt, or are worn if appropriate. Promotions are bestowed on a meritocratic system, those who've amassed the most slaves or trophies are often in positions of command.
Heavily augmented individuals vary depending on their modifications. Often times they're used as heavy armor or light mechs, with over three fourths of their body's biological mass replaced with mechanical limbs or even weapons, and their remaining flesh augmented with cybernetics.
The D'jix were exiled from their homeworld after the founders of the Fleet failed in their efforts to overthrow the regime there, and from there the fleet was born. Initially consisting of only eight vessels, three bussard ramjets and accompanying cruisers, the fleet has grown after several conquests and temporary acquisitions of planets, utilizing the industrial capacity of such to expand the fleet. In recent history, the Fleet has begun to move towards Terra, ignorant of the factions that await.
