It is very hard to compliment some people. Not because they're grumps who can't take compliments, but because there are so very few things to actually compliment.

Somewhere in the world right now, running around, tripping over stuff and causing explosions, is an idiot excuse for a human being who goes by the name of Robin. Nameless, she travels the world with a nickname and an appearance most women would be disowned and shamed for having.

Both Robin's appearance and behavior brings shame to the fair female sex. Her hair has been cut short by someone who obviously couldn't see what they were cutting. Her face is covered with dirt from travel, and her eyes have bags from sleep deprication. Looking like someone who just walked out of a mud tornado, with poorly cut hair pointing everywhere and dirt all over, most women would hide under a rock, but somehow this creature manages to match the look with the grace of a drunken swamp donkey.

But, Robin doesn't seem to be bothered by any of this. She's not bothered by people snickering and asking if she's a man. Even with her shameful appearance, she has planted on her face an ever present smile, and her mind is filled with the excitement and curiosity of a child. As she wanders town to town, she talks to friend, foe, noble or beggar with the same optimism and rash politeness she shows all strangers.

Robin wasn't always a nameless moron with no home. Once, she was high ranking nobility, but was disowned for the shame she continued to bring upon the family. Homeless, friendless and penniless, she set out into the world, wandering alone.

She has now taken up the study of magic, trying to learn what she can on her own. No mages or wizards would take in an apprentice with no gold or renown to her name (or any talent, for that matter), so the magic she learns, she learns by herself. Which has interesting results.

Robin doesn't have much in the way of belongings. She has the clothes on her back and a satchel with books and supplies.
