"These men have committed atrocious crimes to this nation and to this community! Today, we will serve judgment to these fools and see who has the last laugh once they're on the ferry across the dark river!"

In a wide open space, six people were on their knees side-by-side, their wrists and ankles bound tightly together with rope so that they had no chance of escaping. This was, no doubt, a platform for public execution, and Asha had witnessed many of them in her time. Various streetfolk gathered in a semi-circle around the criminals with furious expressions on their faces as they picked up rocks from the ground and began hurling the stones at them.

"Die, scum!"

"Go to hell!"

"You'll pay for what you've done!"

"Monsters!"

"I hope this stings in the afterlife!"

An older woman with visible wrinkles marring her face approached Asha, cramming a stone into her hands with an angry, determined flare behind her eyes.

"Here, you should throw, too," the woman said, urging her to join in the stoning. Asha briefly shifted her attention to the six people, watching as they flinched and spat blood as the stones struck them, some cursing at the top of their lungs and others staying silent with their heads down.

"Sorry, I'm not interested," she finally replied, pushing the rock back into the surprised woman's hands. "I'll be on my way." As she turned around and started to walk again, something hard hit her in the back of the head and she turned her head over her shoulder to see that the woman had flung the rock at her, clearly even more displeased than she was before.

"You're just as bad as they are," she spat. "Anyone that supports scum like that deserves to die, too."

Asha reached toward the back of her head and pressed her hand against the area where she felt a prominent sting, looking at her fingers to see that they were slick with blood. She turned to the woman again.

"I see," she said quietly. She stood still for a moment with her eyes fixated on something in the distance as though pondering something, but instead said nothing, continuing on her way and was not disturbed again. At length, she came across a poster that was attached to the wall of a bakery, and gave it a quick look. It listed a request to slay a dragon that's been terrorizing the kingdom, encouraging warriors and magi from all walks of life to join in the effort.

A dragon...

Asha looked down at her Gatekeeper Blade, seven runes inscribed on its surface, two of them with a faint red glow.

Yes, I suppose that is one of them. I'll be looking into this, but first...

The warm scent of the bakery lured her inside and the doors closed lightly behind her with the tinkling of a bell. Outside, someone had freed the six dangerous convicts from their bindings and set chaos loose in the city...

A young man was lying down at the cart of a horse wagon. It was an easy way to travel and he had a good company with the driver. They had a little trouble with a bandit or two, but the young man took care of it. He was staring at the deep blue sky until the wagon pulled to a stop as they reached their destination. "We're here lad! Well nice talking with ya!" The driver said to the young man. "Yeah, bye! Thank you for the ride!" He said as he climbed off the cart and waved goodbye to the driver.

It was the first time he'd been to a city this big and decided to look around the major city. It was bustling with activities and have stalls here and there. He bought an apple from one of the stand and continued walking around as he took a bite off the apple. He was just about running out of money and it was probably just enough to stay one night at an inn. "I need to earn some money." He said looking quite troubled, but took another bite off his apple. He will later know that he will be part of a quest to save the princess of the great kingdom.

"What's going on out there?" The young man questioned as he finished his apple. He can hear several shouting voice, which he didn't realized as a swearing yell. "Is there a festival going on?" He questioned again as the uproar piqued his interest. He started to walk toward the directing of the noise and saw crowds of people running pass him. He instinctively knew, that it was no festival. He immediately switched from a tourist to more of a warrior and run for the source of the commotion.

Upon reaching the place, he was immediately met by several bodies lying around and two criminals, seemingly the source. The guards desperately tried to fight the criminals, but they where of no match. One of the criminals was beefy and his muscles was like an armor of flesh. He doesn't look that intelligent as all he does was moan and groan. He was red with anger and blew away guards with a single swing of his arm. The other one was a man of average build, he stole two swords off the guards and doesn't look that mad, but his eyes was filled with just as much bloodthirst.

Most of the guards fell and one who was conscious was crawling on the ground for dear life. The man with two swords saw this and raised his sword to kill the man who turned his back on a battle. "Stop!!!" The boy yelled. He was a few meters away from the criminal, but he immediately closed the distance between them with one powerful leap that created a small crater on the ground. He pushed the criminal away by the force of his leap, sending him flying away. He drew his sword and slashed the criminal's swords by its base before he can regain his composure; effectively breaking it. He finished him with a headbutt, leaving him knocked out on the ground.

The big man was already closing in, he sees the boy as a threat. He swings his arm while the boy has his back turned. Leaving the boy a little time to react, he only managed to block off the criminal's powerful swing and was forced to kneel down on the ground. A wide grin formed on the criminal's face as he barraged the boy with series of downward swings, sinking the boy lower into the ground as a crater was formed. The man stopped his barrage as a hand grabbed his arms. The boy was barely harmed and slowly stood up, pushing his heavy arm away, easily overpowering him. "That... hurts!!!" He yelled as he punched the man in the face. He stopped moving and a tooth fell off his mouth, before falling forward, as the boy moved out of the way. "Phew... now... that got taken care off." He said with a sigh.

Prologue

"I am here, alone again."

Pravus spoke mostly to himself. He had an eternity left ahead of him and so many bodies to bury it would take him almost that long to do so. It made a certain sense that he'd start talking to himself. He wasn't going to have more interesting conversations with any of the bodies. In front of him the fresh dirt of his latest mass burial rested atop the many corpses below. With them many an Empowerment gem was buried. If it was in their possession then he had no right to take it from them. Robbing the dead, a practice strictly forbidden in the duty of a Grave Tender. He felt better off burying the gems anyways. They had drawn the dark spirits to each of these poor victims.

He peered out through his mask's glass eyes towards the horizon. The sun was beginning to set as it always does. As much as he would like to simply gather bodies and dig 'till he was done he was not the only thing that returned from death in this city. Some of the cities many dead did not sleep well and there was something about the air in Sed. It was still, more still than air had the right to be. No wind, not even a single breeze could be seen ever since he came back from death's embrace. It was as if even the air in this city was dead.

Pravus reminisced about the day he saw the spirits come. Looking out he estimated that they came from the direction of the imperial capital, Tiatha. I wonder if they swept through the heart of this empire like they did with us or if it originated there. A question worth answering one day but I cannot abandon my duty. I must bury the dead of this city and say my prayers for them so they can sleep. He started to make his way back home where he would hide from the larger more nocturnal aberrations the living dead have become until sunrise. The undead that roamed the streets of Sed at night would gather bodies, much like Pravus does, but instead of burying them they would eat them, growing larger and more deformed as they fed. He did not look forward to the day when he would need to put these creatures down and bury them, putting their souls and the souls of all those they consume at ease.

As he passed a large fenced of section of dirt he felt a pang of depression, one of the few feelings he could still feel. He knew that the fenced off area was once a rather gorgeous garden with exotic fruits, vegetables and vibrant flowers. It made him think about the good days. Back as a child when he could run through the streets without a care in the world. He would often pass this very garden. This nostalgia turned sour with the rotten flavor of reality as he heard a building's groan in the distance. Things were stirring.

I understand that I must honor my father's wishes in being a Grave Tender but this task I set myself up for is impossible. Yes, I have an infinite amount of time to live and bury the dead so that they may rest but what happens after I've buried them all? I cannot bury myself. I could dig a grave and lay in it but it would become the only open grave I've never tended to. Should I end my time here in that grave then who would say prayers for me so that my soul could leave this world in peace? It cannot be done. If only... If only there were somebody, anybody who was still alive. I could pass on after burying this empire of the dead and leave that person the burden of tending my grave so that this horrible land could be erased from history and slip into the serenity of nothingness. His attention was stirred as he approached his childhood home.

"There is only me to answer me." He opened the front door to his home greeted not by his loving mother, father or even his other siblings. All that greeted him was silence, a blanket that fed on his very sanity day after day. He was especially careful to make sure nothing was watching him as he cautiously closed and locked the door behind him. He stepped into the kitchen, walking through a dead memory of a long lost happiness. He was about to practice reciting his burial rights in preparation for the next day when something stood out in the corner of his vision. Having seen his home and everything else basically undisturbed for decades seeing an alteration was like seeing a thumb where another finger should be on his hands.

Out his window down the street on the open dais by the travel office the circle overlooked by the traveling stone glowed. The arcane runes on the traveling stone had lit up with faint blue magic even though the wires that fueled it's magic were disconnected during the initial panic during the riots long ago. He was confused by this. How did the traveling stone reactivate? Where is it open to? He simply couldn't leave the sight alone. Normally he would have no reason to brave the streets at this late hour but the possibilities it presented were too fascinating to simply leave alone. If he didn't investigate now who knows how long it was going to last? He didn't want to find out and regret never finding out what was at the other end.

With a low creak he opened the door again, this time to step back out into the broken stone path. Due to the complete absence of nature here the road despite being many centuries old was in surprisingly decent condition. Nature had grown ill and died along with everything else in this land including the weather. There was nothing in these lands besides the undead which could cause any alteration to the imperial carcass. The only change that the strange force which ruled this land allowed was the passing of the sun and the moon. Perhaps those two celestial bodies were beyond even the dark spirit's touch. He had pondered such quandaries before but only speculating amounted to very little.

Quickly he made his way to the dais of the traveling stone. He spared no time as he was certain the glow of the magic would draw other undead like moths to a flame. With haste he stepped within the circle and placed his hand upon the face of the traveling stone. In an instant his body was consumed by a brilliant blue light and he was gone.

Far gone.

Six months later within the Kingdom of Londe

Pravus had traveled this land for quite some time. The abundance of life in these lands were a pleasant change from the dismal landscape of Tiatha. With the knowledge that not all was lost he continued in his solemn duty all the same but with a better light to see his situation in.

Having passed by the occasional village he has picked up a smattering of the local language. Though the company of the living was far more welcoming than the restless dead he still avoided civilization for the most part. More and more he found however that without some form of interaction with the native people of this land he would find it most difficult to resume performing burials. With that in mind he traveled to Beystead, a place which appeared to have an abundance of people. Even if the cities size was insignificant compared to the cities of Tiatha there had to be at least one person who could help him find where he may perform this morbid practice of his.

Present Day

He was traveling along the road into the city by foot, his shovel resting on his shoulder. His hat cast a thick shadow darkening all but the beak of his mask. Even through the shade he could see there was a scene developing out in the city square. From what he could observe a brawl had taken place, a number of the combatants of which were laying incapacitated. Beyond them were three fighters, one dressed well wielding a single sword while the other two were dressed in ratty attire with only one of them wielding swords.

The crowd of fleeing civilians soon passed him, leaving Pravus as the only one standing there. From a short distance he simply watched the fight, observing the outcome. He was not subtle in his audience. He stood out from the background like a horse standing in a lake, simply watching with it's head protruding out from the depths of the water. He did not care if he noticed him. To him what he thought about him was irrelevant to his interests. The young man's fighting style on the other hand had caught his eye. The veteran soldier in him silently judged his technique while he stood by waiting to see what becomes of this scene.

The boy looked around the damaged caused by the criminals, it seemed to him that the two weren't the only ones who caused havoc. He saw one through the windows of a bakery and another two people dressed like them, lying on the ground. He tied the criminals together so that they won't escape again. The stoning is evident on their look. They would still swear under their breath. He clenched his teeth from frustration. "They got done bad, no wonder they're mad, they should still be treated with respect... They are to be killed... right?" He muttered to himself, feeling slightly sorry for the criminals. He thought what other lives they could have got if they didn't gone astray.

He continued looking around, helping some guards and civilians up on their feet, or lie them on the wall of a building if they can't get up. The boy noticed the crow masked man watching from a short distance. "Hey, you're a doctor right? Can you take a look at all this guys?" He called out to him as he pointed out to the injured people, including the criminals.

Radionalia Ashengrits was summoned by the king to have an audience with him. She arrived at the doors to his thrown room and the guards let her in, once she was inside she got down on one knee and pressed her fist to the ground, her other arm laying across her upper knee, her head bent. "Good day my king." She said.

"Randi, stand. I am not a king as of this day." Randi nodded and stood, looking at the king with her hard eyes, though she wasn't being disrespectful. "Randi. As you may know my daughter, the princess, has been kidnapped by that demon dragon who has taken our land. I can only turn to you Randi, to get her back. I trust you most for this mission, you may recruit any you find are trust worthy and strong enough to not become a hindrance."

"If I may ask my lord, is there any knowledge as to where the princess may be?"

The king shook his head solemnly. "I'm afraid not, we have no knowledge as to where the dragon made it's lair. I will have to leave it up to you to find it and rescue my daughter."

Randi nodded in understanding then bowed low. "Yes my lord, I shall depart immediately." The kind nodded and dismissed her.

Taethion bowed his head as he heard Asha introduce herself. "Nice to you meet you as well!" He spoke with a smile. Then Iator drew his attention as he spoke. "Oh no, not anytime soon, but I shall inform you if there will be one!" He laughed. He watched as the group seemed to deflate from the encounter. He too was about to lull of into comfort when suddenly he perked up. "Oh no!" "The other criminals!" "There is still three out there!" "I must quickly find them!" Taethion spoke out loud. "Sorry to have disturbed any of you but my task is not yet done." "Excuse me friends." Taethion spoke as he quickly walked from the gathering.

He went off to make sure this business is done with but to his surprise he heard no more ruckus. "Oh no have they fled?" Taethion had thought. He would walk few steps to come across a new sight. The criminals that had been vanquished where tied up. Well it seemed someone else had completed the work he had set out to do. Not too far off where some guards, a boy, and a fellow in a strange attire. Something like a bird. "Well that's a relief." Taethion spoke. "You fellows must have done this right?" He spoke towards the boy and the mysterious man, not really addressing anyone.

Pravus

He watched the young man going about seeing to securing the incapacitated men and helping out what appeared to be the guards of this city. The teenager addressed him but as was made quickly apparant he couldn't understand any word but "Hey."

The people he gestured to were injured but their injuries were mostly minor. The only really injured person was one guard who had suffered a sword wound to the intestines. Judging from the nature of the cut the man would need to see a healer soon before blood loss would get him. Needless to say Pravus was no healer. The people he tended to work with were usually long past the need for any form of doctor or healer.

Just as they were speaking down the street a blonde haired man clad in armor came dashing. He didn't seem to belong to the city guard but looked concerned over the commotion for a moment until it was evident that the younger man had it under control. The blonde haired warrior spoke to them in the lands native tongue. The details escaped him as the man spoke but it seemed to be phrased in the form of a question.

He was a foreigner so there was little to be done to hide the fact that he didn't really blend in. Still despite his lack of knowledge regarding their language they looked interesting enough. He would let the boy answer and listen, picking up any words he could recognize while he was there.

Before anyone could do much anything else, a whole battalion of guards arrived. Quickly they rushed onto the scene. Orders were being barked to secure the area. Civilians and Guards injured during the riot were taken in to be examined by doctors. Other civilians were ushered along, telling them to go about conducting business as normal. As for the criminals they were being apprehended and were prepared to be transported off, so they can meet their sentence. Although their other top priority was to investigate the cause of this uprising. The only suspects are these strange folk that happened to stop said uprising.

A guard adorned in better clothing, a long cape, and some sort of badge signifying rank appeared amongst the rows of guards. "You three there," The captain spoke pointing to Iator, Gale, and Asha, "And you three over there!" His point shifted to Taethion, Adrian, and Pravus. "You are wanted for questioning regarding this incident!" "Now if you'll please follow us to the Jailhouse, we can do this quick and easy and have you released before long." "If you don't comply then we will have to be more forceful." "Now please just do as we say, I don't want any more trouble this day than any of you do." The Captain spoke his voice unwavering, showing his determination. The Guards surrounded the area cutting off any escape route. While they didn't want to fight, they were armed and are prepared to do what it takes.

Taethion

Taethion looked about and saw the City Guard preform their duties, but it would seem he is needed. They wished to question him and one to not seek violence where it is unneeded, conceded. "Yes of course!" "Whatever you need me to do to help you." Taethion spoke. "Thank you." The Captain responded. "Now please may the rest of you be this courteous and trust me it will be a painless experience." The Captain spoke expecting them to follow in suite.

"Shouldn't be a problem," Gale said, pulling his hood over his eyes and heading along with them as he crammed his hands in his pockets. "Let's just hope we get this over with quickly." Damn guards won't get off my back today, he thought sourly, irritation settling behind his cooperative gesture. Doesn't look like there's any opening I can slip away through and I'm too drained to try and make a flight out of here. Just my luck.

Asha only made a silent nod in acknowledgement, following closely behind.

Iator

The gnome grinned. "Glad to hear it." He watched Gale ask Asha to dinner with them. "Good! The more the merrier." Before they could move on, however, guards seemed to pour out from the wood works. Iator went along with them without a fight, his eye on Gale. "I've never been in a jailhouse before." He said to one of the guards. "Tell me, are they like what we have in the Vale? A separate home on a large plateau where those that have broken the law must live with others without leaving?"

Pravus

As the unusual people spoke a voice suddenly spoke over them all, footsteps following in it's wake. A man who's armor was evidently more decorated than the other guards armor was addressing six of them. As he spoke the other guards had made their way around, securing the area and blocking their escape.

Pravus couldn't understand what the man was saying but he wasn't a fool either. It was obvious that this was the town guard and they wanted him to follow. After all, he was at the scene of this battle and even though he didn't participate he was still a stranger. It was no doubt that he suspected him of something relating to this.

I knew the moment I'd set foot in a city I'd wind up in trouble like this He groaned in thought only. He was motionless and soundless for the duration that the person who he assumed was in command here was finished speaking. He moved over towards the badge adorned man, his own plated chain mail making a muffled clanking underneath his cloak as the chain links bounced to his footsteps before he stopped, standing a reasonable distance back. He'd wait until the man would either walk or have a guard escort him to the local jail.

A lot of people started to gather at the place. One blonde man appeared. He seemed to know about the incident. He was followed by three people. A woman, a gnome, and one mysteriously cloaked man. Before he could make a conversation with them. An array of guards led by a captain appeared to take care of the scene, he wanted for all six of them to follow him for questioning. The boy thought it won't be a problem, he just has to answer honestly about what happened. He nonchalantly approached the guard captain, thinking its safe and no problem will occur.

The Captain watched as the six individuals he asked for seem to cooperate, despite answering vocally or not. "Good, if you would all follow me, my men and I will escort you to the Jailhouse." The Captain gave a strange look to the small one as he raised an eyebrow, but ultimately ignored the comment. "Let's move out." He ordered his men as they helped push the six strangers along. The Captain lead them all into the Jailhouse. Inside it was dark and a bit damp in there. The Cells were mostly empty, save except for a few prisoners. They watched with curiosity as the six strangers were ushered into the stone walled building.

"Alright if you would all stand near the wall here, I shall get to questioning you shortly." The Captain spoke as he left for a moment. A few guards kept an eye on the group. The Captain's voice could be heard, giving new orders. Some where to remain outside, and the rest where dismissed. He returned and look towards the group. "Alright, I have some questions for you and I would ask you answer them truthfully and one at a time." "Now you in the armor what's your name?"

"Taethion sir." The Paladin spoke.
"And what is your business in Beystead, Taethion?"
"Well sir I was here to seek employment." "I travel about helping those in need." "I thought a city could use extra help."
"What is it that you do?" "Are you a mercenary?"
"No sir, I am a Paladin of the Order of Saint's Illumination." "I follow the creeds of Dedarius, Patron God of Saints." Taethion spoke.
"Oh, Religious man eh?" "I have heard of your Order before, quite along way from home aren't you?"
"Yes but you must know we are regularly sent out on missions to help others, do you?"
"Yes, your Order once helped a friend of mine." "Alright and what is your connection to this riot?"
"Well, I saw the men bounded and being prepared for execution." "I'm not quite sure what happened, I went into the Bakery and then suddenly I heard screams, I-"
"So you have no clue as to how they escaped?"
"None sir." "I just went to help out those who were in danger." "My friends and I subdued them so they wouldn't cause any more trouble."

The Captain nodded, "So you know these people?"
"Not very well, no, I just met them today." "I met her in the Bakery first and then the others during the fight."
"Weren't you fighting one of your so-called friends?"
"Well yes but I was confused, I had thought him a fugitive when I laid my eyes upon him." "But I was sorely mistaken."
"Yes I see." "Which one was he?"
"The one in the Hood."
"Yes, hm." "I heard something about magic being involved?"
"Yes magic was present at the fight, but no one was harmed or anything."
"Yes alright, which ones were responsible for that?" "The Hooded One?"
"Um, Yes and the fellow in the Hat."
"Alright, well that's all I needed to hear from you."
"So do I leave?"
"No, I'll release you when I am finished with the others."

He then went on to the others and asked them the same type of questions.

Meanwhile, many Guardsmen and civilians were passing tale about what happened in the square. These rumors soon reached the ears of Randionalia Ashengrits. The Guards chattered near her. "Yes I heard they are exceptional swordsmen!" "Even fought the criminals without their swords!" "Yes I heard that!" "Wasn't one of them a monster?" "I'm not sure but I heard something like that." "Ah yes I did as well, didn't someone sprout wings?" "Actually I heard he sprouted blades." "I heard he turned into a boulder!" "A boulder!? How peculiar?" "Yes, what a freak!" "That wasn't the only one!" "I heard something about a boy with freakish strength." "Freakish strength you say?" "Do tell!" "I'm not sure but he helped a buddy of mine out, if it wasn't for him that criminal would have run him through!" "Really! Amazing!" "Yes, not to mention the bright light I saw." "What bright light?" "I don't know, looked like fire." "Fire? There's been no fires today!" "Well that's what I thought I saw." "Well what a day!" "I wish I could have seen it!" "I as well." They spoke.

The Gnome was next in line to be questioned. It was times like these when he really felt like he was standing in a hole in the ground. The humans all around him nearly twice his height. Nevertheless, he smiled as he looked around at the jailhouse, eyeing the bars. Humans cage criminals like they do animals, interesting.

The captain approached him.

"And what is your name, sir?"
"Iator Legerdemain, at your service."
"And your business here?"
"I'd just arrived in town. I am a Prophet of Amenazor, here to spread good words and deeds."
"Another religious fellow? What is this, some conference?"
"Not that I know of, my good man."
"Right, well, what is your connection to this riot?"
"I arrived after the riot had already been quelled, I think. All I saw was a little scuffle between my friend here and the Paladin and girl with the sword."
"You don't know how this started either."
"Haven't a clue."
"What of the magic that Taethion mentioned?"
"Ah now that was me. I conjured a spell to halt the fighting between my friends. No harm done to any persons or property, I assure you."
"Well, as long as you weren't killing people."
"Hardly. I would hesitate even in self defense."
"Very well, wait here while I talk to the others."
"Of course."

The guard came to him next with the same questions. He felt not the slightest bit nervous about this. He knew that there won't be any problem at all.

"What is your name kid?"
"Adrian Retter sir!"
"Are you alone?"
"Yes sir."
"What is your business here?"
"I came here to seek employment."
"Aren't you too young to hold a sword?"
"I don't think so sir."
"So, what is your connection to this riot."
"I don't know sir, I just came there after hearing loud shout and by the time I came there it was already a wreck."
"So you don't know either?"
"Yes sir."
"Where you the one who took care of that two?"
He said as he pointed out at the two criminals Adrian defeated.
"Yes sir."
"Where did you learned swordsmanship?"
"Um... is this questions related to the case?"
"Oh, sorry, I just got interested, that's all. You wait right there while I talk with the others."
"Yes sir."

Randi sighed as she walked away from the king's throne room, she knew that despite her abilities there was no way she'd be able to retrieve the princess on her own. She also knew that none of her own men would be fit for the job, they were great assassins but they didn't have the skills to go on rescue missions. She sighed again as she passed a couple guards and heard a bit of idle gossip.

"Did you hear about the latest group of prisoners? I'm amazed the guards could capture them, I hear they're really powerful, some even use magic I heard."

"Yeah, but I also heard that they didn't do anything horrible themselves, I think it was a case of wrong place wrong time..."

Randi didn't stop to listen and their voices faded behind her. She'd heard enough. She headed to the jail.

"I'll be taking the newest batch of prisoners." She told the captain.

"W-What?" The guard stuttered in surprise and bowed in respect to Randi. "Miss Randi. Why would that be?"

"I have been asked by the King to get the princess back by any means necessary. I believe the prisoners would be of use to me on this job."

The guard hesitated, but after getting a look from Randi he bowed and said. "Of course Ma'am."

The Captain shot up before he could question the last fellow in the leather garb. "Oh may I hadn't expected the leader of the King's Assassins to be here!" "I see you wish to use these men for the quest to save the Princess?" "Well I trust you know what your doing." The Captain turned from Randi's position and looked towards the six strangers. "Well then fellows, it looks like you've been given a great honor." "Miss Ashengrits doesn't pick just anyone for missions." "Looks like your all free to go." The Captain spoke as he turned away from them. "All yours ma'am." The Captain saluted her and then walked out of the jailhouse.

Taethion

The paladin was more than a bit surprised by the sudden arrival of the woman. It was clear these guards have great respect for her. She must be someone important. He heard her speak and she mentioned about getting the Princess back. Was she kidnapped? Taethion thought. If that's true then this is serious. Well if this woman wished to recruit him, then he sees no reason why he should turn her down.

The gnome watched intently as the guards began to dismiss themselves and hand over the 'prisoners' to a new woman. He spoke to everyone and no one in particular. "Well, I suppose that went better than it could have. I wonder what this mission is? Amenazor works in mysterious ways indeed." He was definitely going to join this mission. It was too exciting not to.

It was a rather confusing ordeal overall. After being led into the jail the authoritative figure questioned the others before a woman arrived and spoke with the man. After some conversation the man turned back to them and addressed them all once again. He managed to understand the word "Free."

As the person he supposed was the captain of these men left them in the company of the girl he was tempted to walk out since he assumed the man meant they were free to go but on the off-chance that the girl had more business with him he stayed and tried to understand what little of what they were saying that he could. With his shovel resting atop his pauldron he continued to stare at the young girl who seemed to command some authority through the eye sockets of his rather old mask.

Randi looked at the six prisoners, her eyes hard as they always were but they were always startling and a little frightening at first to people. "Well, I have chosen you all to accompany me in this mission because I have heard of your abilities. But hearing isn't good enough for me. I need each of you to demonstrate to me what you have by either sparing with me or showing me in some other ways."

Adrian was caught by surprise when an important looking girl arrived and commanded the guard to let her take them with her, but he is more surprised when he heard the princess of the kingdom was kidnapped by a dragon. The woman wanted to recruit them to help save the princess, and Adrian was more than willing enough to help. His kind heart could not possibly let himself decline such quest of saving the fair princess of a kingdom.

The girl started to talk about their ability and demonstration. Unsure of what to do, Adrian touched the floor and break the stone tiles with a punch. He stood back up and said. "Is it enough for a demonstration?" He said as he scratched the back of his head.

"Not good enough for you, huh?" Gale snickered, leaning with his back against the wall as he folded his arms over his chest, a skeptical look in his eyes. "Looks like the little girl's got a big mouth."

Asha only gave a noncommittal shrug in response, waiting for the young woman to pick somebody to go first or for somebody else to volunteer.

Taethion looked up to the woman as she asked for some sort of demonstration of their abilities. Well if she needed convincing to ensure she is picking the right team, then he will prove himself. He doesn't want to be left behind because he couldn't do something simple as that. He saw Adrian punch right through a stone floor, impressive. Taethion then stood before her. While he could show her combat skills, he decided to show her a more useful talent. Considering the people here, there is no shortage of warriors. "Alright then watch carefully." Taethion spoke as he took of his glove, showing his palm. He then drew his sword and placed the edge against his flesh. He took a deep breath and then made a very deep cut in his hand. He was bleeding profusely. He then muttered some words and a bright light seemed to shine from his palm. Then the wound magically sealed, completely healing.

"I can heal bigger wounds, not just on myself but I can heal wounds on other people." He spoke as he covered his hand with his glove. "I hope that can help you on your journey along with my swordsmanship." Taethion spoke as he stood away from Randi. He hoped that demonstration was adequate.
