The fortress town was once just that, a Fortress. A particularly well known Fortress which was known to shelter a sizable portion of soldiers during times of war. The fortress grew and expanded over time to contain more soldiers, as it was used to defend and send reinforcements across Londe's heartland. Since Londe has been in a extended era of peacetime, the outer portion of the fortress has been converted into a town. While the original wall, and fortress still serves as a military base. The construction of homes began when some soldiers asked for their families to move out to Andril and proceeded to build homes. It grew from there into a well known and populated town in the Kingdom.

After the business with the Dwarf and the Girl had resolved, the party reassembled and headed eastward for Andril. At the end of the first day for the group, they stayed at a roadside inn named, The Weary-Eyed Traveler. The following day after a good night's rest, the group loaded up their wagon with the supplies they had stored in a shed near the stables. The Innkeeper was paid with the standard currency found in Londe by Randionalia. Another day had passed and while closer, they had yet to reach their destination. Instead they stopped for the night in a nearby hamlet. The following day they would arrive at the gates of Andril before midday, from where they stood they could see the scorch marks across the stone-bricked walls, and bits of debris littered about the grassy fields just beyond these walls. Some of the walls themselves had crumbled and broken over, leaving other entrances besides the gates themselves. Reconstructing Andril has been slow-going because of attacks from hostiles, particularly bandits who have been something of a problem in these parts. Yet, the bandits have only recently became bold enough to launch attacks on Andril, partially because the Dragon attack has greatly weakened their defenses, but mainly because of a rumor that gold is being stored underneath Fort Andril itself.

Two armored soldiers stood vigilant upon the gatehouse having seen your coming for a mile a way. The had their weapons out, bows trained on the group as one of them spoke, "Halt! Who goes there?!" He shouted from on high. The Elven assassin strode to the head of the group, "I am Randionalia Ashengrits! I am the Head of the King's Assassins!" She shouted in response. The two Gate guards spoke amongst themselves. "And what be the King's Head Assassin's business here in Andril!?" The guard asked. "I come on orders from the King to locate the Dragon, rescue the Princess, and slay the beast! We were told to come to Andril, it being the last known location the Dragon attacked! We seek clues and answers to where the beast may be!" She shouted. The Guard then replied, "And what of your traveling companions!?" He asked. "They are all recruited to partake in this quest by me! We only seek to carry out our mission, nothing more!" She spoke. The both muttered something to each other and then nodded. "You will be greeted by our commanding officer, but in the meantime please enter!" He spoke as the other solider ran off to fetch their commander. The remaining solider then raised the gates allowing the group to enter Andril.

Once inside the fortress town, one would noticed a great amount of burnt buildings, all of which were dilapidated and collapsed from the fire. Not all buildings were destroyed, but any Inn and Tavern have been forced to take in civilians whose homes were destroyed. Even one of the barracks had civilians living inside them. The whole town was a rather dreary and dismal scene, with peasants sporting long faces as they mourned over their loved ones and way of living that was taken by the Dragon. There were some children playing in the puddles from the recent rain as their smiling faces was about the only thing to lift the mood in this place. Most marketplaces where destroyed but some shops still remained, a General Goods shop remained open, and the Blacksmith remained in business as well. Otherwise Trade Shops, Scroll Shops, Grocer's Market all destroyed by the Dragon. The only place to actually purchase food is from the Butcher's, whose shop was only slightly damaged and not to the point where it had to be closed off. The Apothecary's Shop still stood, but nearly all of the medicines have been used to help heal the injured and the sick, leaving his selection to be quite sparse. Fort Andril itself still stands but one could see that damage has been done to the stone-bricked building. Scorch marks and fallen towers being the most apparent indicators of this fact. The inner wall that closes off the fort from the town itself, seemed to have been only slightly damaged, as compared to the outer walls. The fort is located on a hill top whereas the town seemed to be built around the foot of the hill extending some into the grassy plains that surround them. There are three gates that are located around the outer wall, the West Gate, the one we are entering through, there is a Gate to the South, and a Gate to the North. Further East behind Fort Andril there is a forest. There is another gate within the town that leads to the fort, it is facing west like the fortress itself. The other thing they would notice about Andril was that it was crawling with armored soldiers, bearing arms as if it were wartime.

As the party entered town the guard raised the gate, closing it behind them. They were soon greeted by the Commander in charge here. "Ah yes your the Company that seeks the Dragon correct?" He was a handsome man about in his thirties. He spoke with a smile despite the devastation that happened in his town. "Yes." Randi quickly answered. "Well I am glad to see someone brave enough to rescue the Princess." He spoke as he bowed to the company. "I am sorry, but there isn't much my town can offer you at the moment, but if there is anything you need please tell my men and we will try and procure any supplies you mention. I am sorry again if we cannot be of any more use to you. As for your issue with the Dragon, if you would please follow me to the keep, we will discuss it there." The Commander bowed again. "Oh and again you are welcomed to wander about the town, but please be mindful, we have had a rough time." He spoke again as he rode off for the keep. "For those that wish to follow me to the keep come now, otherwise I guess your free to go about the town." Randi spoke to the group as she followed the Commander.

The Commander looked over his shoulder to see the blonde haired woman had asked a question about their training grounds. "Yes there is one past the inner gate, but I must warn you the Dragon attack has left it in disrepair, having scorched most of the field. Yet there are still some targets and training dummies that have survived. We are not in need of them so you may use what's left if you wish." The Commander answered her. "I hope you are not in need of equipment, much of it was ruined so whatever we have is needed for my men. Also the same condition apply to any sparring partners, I have all of my men out there on duty and cannot afford to spare even one of them." The Commander spoke as he turned his gaze to the Gatehouse. He waved his hand and the soldier's nodded as they opened the gates. Those that went with the Commander would see the Keep Grounds, and like he said a lot of the grass that made up this hill has been scorched into ash.

One of the barracks had been ruined, another in public use, and the one closest to the fort is used by the military. Where the training grounds is suppose to be is in disrepair like he said, much of the equipment ruined and gather into a trash pile. "Over there is the grounds, as I said it is a sorry sight, but we are delivering the scrap metal to the Smith to forge new weapons and equipment." The Commander spoke. "As for the rest of you Fort Andril is just ahead, we will enter through the front gates and we will store your horses in our stables." The men were already opening the gates as they spoke.

"Goodbye!" Taethion called out as Sylphine ran off, he wasn't quite sure where she was going but he supposed it didn't matter. Taethion knew how bad things were but this? It was disheartening to see all the damage wrought by the Dragon. The Children playing in the puddle barely gave him any smile. He felt bad for all the people whose lives and homes were destroyed, but this only further proves to him why this quest must succeed. If it's like this all across the Kingdom then the Dragon is a plague indeed. He followed the Commander hoping to hear any information about the Dragon, the sooner they can find the Dragon, the sooner they can end this senseless destruction.

Pravus

He traveled alongside the group as they made their way to their first destination. Pravus was silent the entire trip, not saying a word to anyone. If it weren't for Randionalia's threat to throw him in prison again he'd of just left by this point. The holy man had something that he wanted though. He wanted his knowledge of their funeral practices. His desire for this knowledge was stronger than his fear of the king's head assassin's threats against him. She was hardly any threat and he could easily leave in the dead of night as even she needs to sleep while he does not. Sure, he'd have to deal with the consequences but his entire unlife had been nothing but a consequence of his failure as a Grave Tender, a failure to the family. Any retribution that comes his way would not be unjust.

None the less he stayed with the group, traveling the land alongside the wagon. Eventually they approached Fort Andril, a fortress which definitely bore the scars of a dragon attack. The king's assassin yelled up to the guards and they were let inside. Now inside Pravus saw the scene of the dragon's toll on these people. Quite frankly, these people didn't seem to be doing half bad. Of course given his frame of reference being the war in which unspeakable atrocities were committed by every part of the military he served under and the plague which made this tragedy almost laughable in comparison to the carnage and misery which swept his land.

Looking at what the town had remaining he noted that their supplies were quite low. Given what he had seen he made the jump to the conclusion that they would probably have little to no armaments to spare as well. He didn't need to assume anything however as the commander basically told them everything they needed to know, inviting them into the keep where they would discuss their quest. There was not much else to this place but to move on so he followed the main body as they proceeded to the keep. The air mage split off from the group as they approached and the swordswoman wanted to train while the others went inside. Such matters were irrelevant to him, he disregarded the two for now as he proceeded alongside the group, not a single word to speak.

After everything was back in order and they were back on their way. Adrian was thinking about all the events that happened and especially the time he almost pissed Lana off."Hah... What was their problem with me? Is it that bad to care for the enemy? Hah... Almost everybody in the group seems to think of me as naive. Hah..." He thought with several sigh in between each sentence.

"Lana huh, it's a good name and all, but she seriously need to fix that personality of her. I think I also narrowly escaped fighting with her." He continued, but with a somehow sinister excited grin on his face. He immidiately covered his face after he realized what kind of face he was making. "W-Why did I just smiled like that?" He thought, somehow puzzled by the face he made, and just continued to follow the group.

— — — — — — — — — — —

He looked around the destroyed city that is surprisingly not yet burned to the ground. He looked at the people who received the damage and they don't look like they can stand off the ground yet. One child who was playing in the mud bumped on him and fall on his butt. Adrian smiled and grabbed his hand, pulling him back up. "Thank you mister!" The child say as he ran off. "I guess it's not all that hopeless here." Adrian thought.

Having particularly nothing to do and somehow ending up on a bad term with the others. He decided to talk to Sylphine and make up if she is still made at him after the little argument of moral. "Hey, Sylph! Can I-" He wasn't able to finish his sentence as she run off and he decided to run after her. He followed her to the residential district and wondered why she went there, but she started to fly so Adrian jumped up to the roof to follow her. "Sylph! Wait up!" He shout at her. The roof looks like I will crumble the moment he applied force in it so he can only jump from one roof once.

The Commander and those that followed, entered through the main gates of the fort. They were asked to dismount while soldiers brought the groups, horses and wagon to the Keep Stables. Here they would be safe from any thieving hands. "Please follow me into the Keep, I will bring you to my office where we can discuss the details of your mission here." He spoke. They would walk up to large wooden and wrought iron doors as the Commander pushed in. The inside the Keep looked better than the outside, the stone walls were intact and lit torches lined up and down the walls. There were many rooms in the Keep, but they would pass the main hall in to the foyer. From their wooden steps were lain on opposite sides of room. Further down the hall one can seen the entrance to the courtyard, were stone rubble littered the once grassy area.

"Up the stairs here we will enter the right hallway and enter the first door on the left." The Commander spoke as he walked up the staircase. He then entered his office, which was a large spacious room, with a fire place and an oak table. There was a book case littered with scrolls and books. There was a large hole the can been seen on the left side of the ceiling where scorch marks outlined the edges. "Sorry about the draft in here the Dragon really had a go with the place, but we are fortunate it did not come falling down." The Commander spoke as he sat behind the desk. "So then how may I assist you adventurers?" The Commander asked as he rested his elbows on the desk.

"I was told the Dragon attacked the place before it kidnapped the Princess, is that correct?" Randi asked.

"Yes that's true, but what of it?" The Commander asked.

"We need to know where it flew off to, it is important we find the beast soon before it does anything to the Princess."

The Commander then rubbed his chin, "Yes I see the urgency, but the truth of the matter is I have no idea where the Dragon went."

"But you must know something, it flew here before it kidnapped her and it must have flew past after it's deed was done!" Randi spoke raising her voice. "You must have saw something or one of your men did at least!?"

"Yes we saw the beast but it flew in during the night and completely took us off guard! We haven't the slightest clue from which direction it hailed!" The Commander spoke raising his voice but not in anger, but in attempt to defend himself.

Randi then grunted in frustration. The Commander rubbed his forehead as he spoke, "Look the only thing would could tell was that it may have come from the north, but I haven't the intel to say for sure." He then sighed. "I am sorry, it's been rough here the past few days. I've been trying to keep a whole community together and not to mention the bandits, and the lost commoners-" He was interrupted.

"Lost commoners?" Taethion spoke up.

"Yes, we've lost some civilians the night of the attack. We had to evacuate as many as we possibly could into the nearby woods. I would say it was foolish ploy but I had to save the lives I could. The Dragon didn't seemed interested in the civilians but more interested in us. It crippled our military presence here, for reasons I am not sure of. But, I do suspect it's up to something, because we are not the only base to have been assaulted in the past few weeks." The Commander spoke his words ominous. "So since I saw the Dragon's interest in us, I decided to have my distract it while we evacuated as many as we could. After the assault I had what was left of my troop and went to retrieve the civilians, but not everyone made it back. I only had a few of my men with them, and they said there was so much confusion, people ran in panic and they were difficult to wrangle in. I can only believe they are lost out in those woods some where!" "At the moment I can't spare any soldiers to go out there looking for them either and, ugah!!" He then sighed, "I'm sorry I shouldn't be bothering you with my failures, after all you have greater concerns to worry about." He spoke and then suddenly a soldier dropped in on them.

"Commander Saunter!" The Soldier yelled.

"What is the meaning of this soldier!?" Saunter yelled.

"One of the missing civilians! He entered on horseback and is badly injured!" the Soldier shouted.

"Where is he!?" He shouted.

"We brought him here to the infirmary!" The soldier responded

"Bring me to him!" The soldier nodded. "I am sorry but I must investigate this, excuse me." Saunter spoke as he exited the room.

Taethion head perked when he heard the word injuries. He decided to follow Saunter in case he could use his help. Yet the two soldiers took off at a running pace and Taethion had to track them down. He asked around about the Infirmary and one soldier led him there. Randi groaned at Taethion for just running off like that. Still it looked like she wasn't going to get much else out of here. Perhaps they should take their chances and head north.

Taethion found the infirmary and there Saunter was questioning the injured civilian. "Please, if you can muster some more words as to where they are." He spoke. The Civilian was coughing out blood, he didn't have much left in him.

"I can help with that." The Paladin spoke up.

"Huh? What are you doing here, I really have no time for you-"

"I can heal him and he can tell you more." Taethion interjected. "I am Paladin after all."

"A Paladin?" Saunter spoke confused. Taethion walked up and began to mutter his prayer and after a few moments a healing light covered the man and his injuries began to heal.

"Amazing, I don't know how to thank you." Saunter spoke.

"It's alright, anything I can do to help those in need." Taethion responded. After the light disappeared the man came to and made one last cough.

"Are you alright?" Saunter asked.

"Y-yes...thank you." The Commoner spoke.

"Thank the young man here, he was the one who healed you." Saunter spoke pointing to Taethion.

"Yes, thank you." "I suppose you want to know where are the others?" The man weakly spoke.

"Whatever you can tell us will be helpful." Said Saunter.

"You see, we, were lost out in those woods, a group of us ran off too far during the attack. We didn't think about the consequences, we were just trying to be safe, but...a group of bandits ambushed us, they captured us and put us into these wooden cages! We thought we were gonna be killed until their leader, he wanted to know where the gold was! But we told him, we didn't know anything about gold! He got angry and he killed some of the others and, and!" His speech was becoming increasing erratic when Saunter calmed him down. "Sorry, sorry, after he gave up asking us, he tortured me and then sent me here to give you a warning." The man spoke.

"What was the warning?" Saunter asked.

"Give him Andril's gold or else he will kill the hostages one by one." The man answered. "He even said he would have their bodies delivered to you, I am telling you he's a sick man! PLEASE! Don't let him kill the others! PLEASE, THEY STILL HAVE MY FAMILY!" He then coughed really hard.

"Quiet, quiet, rest now, we will get your family and those hostages back! I swear this!" Saunter spoke clasping the man's hand.

"Thank you." He spoke, the man in tears.

"You there, summon the men we are sending a rescue party into the woods!" The Commander ordered.

"Right away Commander!" The soldier then ran off.

"I am sorry, Ser Paladin, but I am afraid I have my duty to attend to. Tell your allies I am sorry that I could not be of much use, now if you will excuse me." The Commander then exited the room. Taethion wasn't sure what to do, but he figured he should return to the group and tell them what he learned. When the Paladin returned to the others inside the Keep he told them about the Bandit's threat. He then waited to see what they thought about the situation.

Day 3

The further and further away she got from the only populated area of the city, the higher and higher Sylphine flew, until she was just above the rooftops. At the moment, she was heading straight towards where they had last seen that man, since he wouldn't be able to get far on foot compared to her while flying. All the same, however, she had already instructed Pirika to fly ahead to see where he might have gone at this point.

Right now, Sylphine couldn't see any bandits beneath her, but she was going too fast to tell. Hopefully the sight of a flying girl with green hair didn't cause too much chaos...

"Sylph! Wait up!"

HUH?! Recognizing the voice, Sylphine turned her head backwards to see...oh my god. You...I don't even...what the HELL?! There was Adrian, leaping across the rooftops in her direction. The buildings were crumbling beneath him, but somehow he managed to make just powerful enough of a jump to get to the next building each time.

...that kid has got to be on drugs, Pirika commented, sounding notably shocked.

You're telling ME?! Sylphine fired back, unable to believe her eyes. Seriously, how was his timing and strength this good? He didn't look like he had received much training of any sort, and yet--oh wait, crap, his next jump was bringing him towards a hole in a roof. Quickly, Sylphine threw her hand forward and caught him on a wind, letting Adrian fly next to her.

"You have got to be one of the craziest people I've ever met, going around a place in shambles like this with those moves," she commented wryly. "Really though, what's the problem? Got too lonely without me?"

"Give him Andril's gold or else he will kill the hostages one by one."

The group was standing around in the commander's office at the time since that was where he last led them before that him, Randi and the holy man ran off. When they returned he was still just standing there, not doing much as usual. Of course the news of the bandit's threat was just more of the same, stuff that he really couldn't care less for. His duty is not to the living after all and these are but matters the living must put up with. Whatever little game the bandit leader was playing was just more nonsense he had no business in dealing with.

Of course, he wasn't going to bother voicing an opinion on the matter either. He didn't want to have to bother with this nuisance but he was less willing to suffer the consequence behind having people know that he can speak their language, the consequence being people talking with him. Ultimately he was going to go with the holy man regardless of the groups overall decision since he plans to learn his customs at some point.

He looked over at his shovel. He's used it to fight out of an absence of proper weapons but despite it's superior craftsmanship he would still prefer to wield a spear. It was too bad that this fort had no weapons to spare. He did hope they would find one he could use soon enough. A shield would also be nice. He was best using a spear two handed but without someone to hold a shield and stand in front of him having a shield of his own would be invaluable. Wielding a spear one handed and holding a shield was a viable fighting style which he had a fair amount of experience using. Some javelins would also come in handy but those are rather specialized since you can't just chuck spears and expect them to work just as effectively. Javelins had to be smaller, lighter yet still with some weight behind them for impact. He doubted he'd see those anytime soon. He just realized that while everyone else was discussing this hostage dilemma he was daydreaming about weapons and shields. Truly a soldier, even after death.

Day 3

Was he seriously THAT hung up about it? The girl put a hand to her face, letting out a very long sigh. "You seriously came all this way, running on roofs that crumbled right as you set foot on them, just to tell me that? Adrian Retter, you are insane."

Moving into her reclining-while-flying pose once again, she continued, "And besides, you can't really call something like that 'little.' Ideals are really important; you should know that better than anyone else. Other than that, however, I'm not angry anymore, so just forget about that argument...wait, on second thought, don't."

They were getting very close to the place where that man had been spotted earlier. Surely enough, Sylphine could see as they approached that he wasn't there. Pirika, where is he now?

It looks like we don't have much time to waste, Pirika responded. He's down two more blocks, and surrounded by bandits. There are 13 of them...a few have knives, and others are just wielding pieces of debris. Wait, one has a longsword, and two have axes...better watch out.

Acknowledged, Sylphine replied, before turning to Adrian once again. "And, also, I hate to break it to you, but this was probably the worst possible time you could have picked to talk to me." She didn't even have time to fully explain what was going on before they reached the street where the bandits stood, surrounding their victim.

He was pleading with them that he had nothing of value on him, but they kept making their threats anyway, not believing him, until eventually one bandit said, "Heh, I guess we can just take him to the forest where the others are if he really doesn't have anything. But for now, let's search-"

At this precise moment, Sylphine threw out her hand, and a burst of wind roared past some of the bandits, pushing them backwards a few feet. Looking up in surprise, they were even more confused when they saw a flying girl with green hair. They muttered among themselves, wondering what to do...until eventually, they made up their mind and charged at her.

While they had been arguing, Sylphine had already set up a barrier of hardened air particles so that they wouldn't be able to advance past it for some time. "So," she finished explaining to Adrian, "our overall goal is to save that man. Do you want to run in and grab him first, or should we take down the bandits now?" Just as she finished, she thrust her palm forward, and the barrier exploded, sending the bandits flying onto their backs.

"No, I'm not" Adrian replied to Sylphine's comment. He listened to her saying that it's a bad timing and about saving a man all of a sudden. He looked at her a little puzzled, but immediately realized that she was pointing at the man surrounded by bandits. "Hey, Sylph. Can you throw me there with your wind?" He kindly requested her.

Without asking questions, Sylphine summoned her staff and spun it around, and a strong wind current blew Adrian towards the area he had requested. The bandits were starting to recover from being toppled, but she blasted them with wind again to keep their attention off Adrian.

He was launched all the way to the center, where the man they have to rescue is. He landed beside him and quickly grabbed him, jumping up to the seemingly still sturdy building's roof. He placed him up there and Adrian showed a thumbs up toward Sylphine showing that the rescue is a success.

Sylphine was about to return the thumbs up, when she noticed out of the corner of her eye that the bandits were starting to climb up the building's wall. "Get going, quickly!" she shouted, and prepared another attack...but it was precisely at that point that the building collapsed, sending the bandits plummeting back down to ground among pieces of rock and wood.

Adrian felt the building collapsed below him and quickly grabbed the man again and jumped off using one of the huge slab of rock as a foothold and safely brought the shocked man to the ground. He tumbled on his back to a wall of a building where he is away from the bandits. Adrian quickly took a battle stance and prepared to defend the man.

The two bandits with axes charged Adrian at the same time, swinging their weapons at different angles. Meanwhile, the other bandits wondered just how they could take down Sylphine while she was in the air...before they apparently settled for throwing rocks and knives at her. It was actually kind of funny; none of their weapons required much effort for Sylphine to sweep away with gales.

Adrian can easily dodge the axes, but if he did, he fear that it might hit the civilian. Gladly, since they are wielding axes, the handle is much longer and Adrian simply grabbed both of the with his hands and crushed it with his grip. The axe heads fell to the ground. The bandits immediately throw what remains of their weapon and continued to charge at Adrian. He simply sighed and grabbed the back of their heads and smashed their heads against each other.

Deflecting all the projectiles was starting to get old, so Sylphine decided to go on the offensive. She raised her staff with both hands, and a cyclone spiraled from the emerald at its tip towards the bandits. The swirling wind threw them backwards and slashed into their stolen equipment, toppling most of them like bowling pins. After that, Pirika would attack any downed bandits with air blades fired from her wings to ensure they wouldn't keep attacking.

However, when she got to the bandit with the longsword, Sylphine found she was being greeted by an unnerving savage grin. A moment later, that bandit raised his sword and brought it down, and the cyclone suddenly ripped apart right in front of her. "Heh, that all you got?" the bandit laughed as Sylphine looked on in absolute disbelief.

"How did he..." Sylphine shook her head, reminded herself not to lose focus, and swung her staff again, and a blade of air shot towards the bandit, but once again, he cut the attack in half. "My attacks won't work on this guy?!"

Grinning, the bandit just strode forward towards her at a casual pace. "You gonna stop floating around and fight me like a man?" he taunted. "Cuz you're not gonna get anywhere by cowardly throwing wind at me like that." The next thing Sylphine knew, he was leaping into the air above her, bringing his sword down. Alarmed, she created an updraft to keep him in the air long enough for her to get away. This was...really, really bad, to say the least.

Adrian saw the ongoing battle between the bandit with longsword. "Oh no, I think they're a bad match." Adrian thought as the bandit simply sliced through all her wind attacks. "I got to do something, but I can't leave this man with the ther bandits. Thinking of a way. Adrian picked up a fist sized rock and threw it at him, flying toward his stomach at high speed, passing Sylphine and then turning his eyes back on the other bandits. Quite sure that It will hit.

One bandit with two daggers swiftly ran toward his blindspot by the opening he left after throwing the rock. Adrian turned his back toward him and leaped backward, pushing him against the wall of a building. Another bandit charged while Adrian was down on the ground and swung his sword at him. Adrian pushed himself up with his feet and stood using his hands and pushed the ground, kicking the bandit under his jaw. The others watched him warily. The one with the daggers ran back to the group while Adrian took down the one with sword.

"Is that all you guys got?" He taunts them.

The bandit with the longsword was giving Sylphine no ground. After forcing her to fly closer to the ground with that jump strike, he was attacking her without abandon. Even though Sylphine managed to dodge his sword strikes, she could tell that if even one hit, it'd be worse than getting run over by an angry boar...okay, maybe not that bad, but still.

Kicking off the ground, she tried to ascend again, but the bandit shot forward with a kick and landed a hit directly on her stomach, sending Sylphine crashing into a pile of rubble. "Hah! Weak and pathetic!" the bandit cackled. "A little scrawny brat like you could never stand up to me!"

"Can you say that again?" Sylphine retorted, standing up and trying to ignore how much pain she felt in her midriff. Her staff began to glow once again, and she raised it over her head.

Letting out a chuckle of cruel amusement, the bandit started running towards her...and was promptly hit in the side by a rock. "Guh!" he grunted, glancing backwards. "What th-"

Now was the time. Sylphine brought her staff down with a shout, and a high-pressure wind blasted forward, slamming the bandit and stunning him. While he was dazed, Pirika came bearing down, slashing with a blade of air. The bandit recovered quickly enough to destroy that air blade, but Sylphine was now right next to him, with her own blade of air, slashing his back from right shoulder to left hip. With a howl of pain, the bandit staggered, and glancing backwards with eyes full of rage, he swung his sword the other way. However, Sylphine managed to dodge by throwing herself to the side with wind...and at that moment, Pirika accelerated the blade so that it slammed down into the ground, burying itself there (she made sure Sylphine had enough time to avoid it, of course). The longsword was stuck, and the bandit could do nothing.

From both sides, Sylphine and Pirika slashed with blades of air, finishing the bandit off. As he crashed to the ground, Sylphine massaged her stomach and groaned, muttering something about how she wouldn't enjoy lunch later.

"You okay there, Sylph?" Adrian asked worriedly, but still facing the remaining bandits. "If they won't make a move then I will!" Adrian thought. He charged at the four remaining bandit and stopped at the center of them. He jumped off the ground, and rotate his body around them with his leg stretched out, kicking them all in that one jump. (Tatsumaki senpukyaku!)

Not really feeling like saying any words, Sylphine nodded. When Adrian performed that last jump kick...thing...she used her magic once again, increasing his speed so that the bandits had almost no time to react whatsoever before it was too late. And just like that, the battle was over.

Letting her staff disappear, Sylphine limped over to where the man was. "You're fine, right?" she asked breathlessly.

The man seemed started by everything he had seen, but managed to answer. "...uh, y-yes. I'm fine, thanks to you two. Er, you two are...very strong for your age, I can tell. Thank you for helping me...I don't know what would have happened to me if you hadn't shown up." Sylphine nodded and smiled, but something made her feel like she and Adrian could have done a lot better when it came to working as a team...oh well, what could she do about it.

The man bowed to them, before returning back to where all the people are, seeing that his house has already crumbled to the ground.

Day 3

The man told the two teenage dragon hunters-to-be that he was going back to his house to see if anything was left, as he hadn't been able to check for the past few days. Unfortunately, he found out that everything had been destroyed by the dragon, and left in low spirits--though he did make sure to thank them again.

But something was still bothering Sylphine...no, not her stomach, even though it still ached like hell. One of the bandits said something about taking the man to the forest "where the others are." What could that mean...? Perhaps they should have left one bandit alone and interrogated him...in any case, there wasn't much for them to do but return to the main street. There wasn't anything left for them in the residential district now.

As if on cue, she heard a groan as one of the bandits started to wake up...one of the axe wielders. This was a good opportunity. Sylphine went right up to the bandit, motioning for Adrian to follow her. "Hey, you!" she called, getting his attention. "What are you guys planning in the forest?"

The bandit looked up, immediately recognized them, and started to panic when he realized he was had neither a weapon nor backup. "W-what would I know?" he lied, backing up. "I don't know what the bosses have in the forest, I swear! I was just a, uh, hired hand from this city! New recruit, ya know?"

"If that's the case, then it'd be even stranger that you wouldn't know what's going on," Sylphine commented, advancing on him. "Quit trying to dodge the question. Tell us what you're doing out there."

Realizing he couldn't play dumb, the bandit changed his tune. "I ain't gonna say anything!" he shouted, sounding more and more desperate. "You can't make me talk!"

This is getting really annoying, Sylphine thought. Guess I have to break Adrian's ideals some more. Her hand flew forwards, and suddenly, the man was suspended in the air by wind currents. "I said," Sylphine repeated slowly, punctuating her sentence multiple times. "Tell us. What. You're doing. In. The Forest. Are we clear?"

"O-okay fine! I give! I'll tell you! Just...don't kill me, please!" the man shouted. He babbled out that the other bandits had taken hostage most of the people who evacuated from the city during the dragon's attack, and were demanding the gold underneath Andril as ransom. Furthermore, they would periodically kill off civilians as time went on until this ransom was paid.

Though Sylphine felt furious over the callous behavior she was being told about, she nodded calmly. "Thank you. You won't die." As soon as she finished saying this, she snapped her fingers, and a hardened air bullet slammed the man in the side of the head, knocking him unconscious. "...come to think of it, we're probably going to have to lug him back to authorities ourselves while he's unconscious," she muttered, scratching the back of her head. This would suck.

More troubling was the bandits' demands for the gold, however. How many people had been killed already? How many were left? "We'd best head back and get the others' opinions on this," Sylphine suggested, picking herself, Adrian, and the unconscious bandit with air currents. "Come on!" The winds picked up, carrying them to two blocks within the main street, where Sylphine put her hood back up and let them all land before she kept running.

Day 3

Walking back up the street with the unconscious bandit in tow, Sylphine and Adrian suddenly were confronted by a messenger wearing rather fancy-looking regalia. "Excuse me, you two," he called. "You're part of the dragon hunting group, right?"

"Ah, yes, that's us," Sylphine affirmed, a bit surprised. "What do you need from us?"

"Well, we have a bit of a situation outside the walls," the man explained, a rather urgent tone in his voice. "It's the bandits. They've taken hostages, apparently. And your group will most likely be called on to resolve it."

So they were getting involved after all...Sylphine nodded and thanked the messenger, then turned to Adrian. "We need to hurry," she commented, as if it wasn't blatantly obvious enough, before running up towards the keep. Of course, in a rather inconsiderate manner, she left Adrian to haul the bandit with them...

It didn't take long before Sylphine barged into the room where the others were. Some of them were discussing if they should assist with the hostages, while the masked man appeared to be spacing out somewhere to the side. "Hey!" the green haired girl called, raising a hand in greeting as she entered. "So you guys heard about the thing with the hostages too, yeah?"

Taethion

Taethion nodded towards Iator, he was glad someone felt like something must be done. After all sending soldiers into the woods where the hostages are being held doesn't bode well in his mind. He wasn't sure about the Dwarf, Gale, The Gravedigger, or the Girl, but Bliston spoke up on this matter in direct opposition of Iator's vote.

"We we called upon to go hunt down a dragon. We weren't hired to go trumping through the woods looking for lost peasants, nor did anyone ask us for help. I don't know about you, but I prefer to be timely with my engagements. Besides," and at this he turned to Taethion "I don't suppose you heard exactly where this bandit camp even is?"

"Well we-" Taethion spoke trying to defend his point, but Bliston carried on and when he looked towards the Paladin he asked a very good question. Taethion sort of looked down as a frown formed on his face, "Well no, I didn't, what I did hear was that the released hostage was blindfolded when he was spotted. So, even if I went back to ask him, he wouldn't know anything." Taethion spoke saddened by this predicament. "That would also mean the soldiers won't know where to go either, and having them leave their charge for such an indeterminable amount of time seems like a bad move, especially considering the state of this town. Not to mention that I am worried that sending a large force of soldiers would be the worst way to handle this. What if the Bandits get scared and kill everybody? Maybe a smaller group of people, that aren't soldiers would at least throw them off, giving us a better opportunity to do something." Taethion argued without raising his voice.

Randionalia

The Elven assassin listened to the debate as to whether to intervene or not dragged on. She could see both points but felt a greater responsibility to the King and their quest. "Look, here Knight we haven't the time to waste on these matters. As much as I feel sorry for the people and their plight we have a quest to attended to. Bliston is correct, this isn't our concern, nor is it being made our concern. I do not know if you noticed, but the dire situation of our quest takes precedence, we do not exactly have an official deadline to keep! The Dragon could kill the Princess at any moment!" She spoke up.

Taethion

"If the Princess could be killed, even at this moment then what's the point of being in a hurry?" Taethion asked. That was tough to swallow but he is right in a way.

Randionalia

"Even though that is a possibility, I don't want her death to be on our hands! Even if the Dragon does kill her, but we were on our way, then at least we can say we didn't leave her fate to chance! We tried to intervene, but if we keep derailing our progress then we might as well place the same amount of blame on ourselves as with the Dragon." Randi spoke finishing her piece.

Taethion

Taethion didn't want to leave the fate of these civilians up in the air, but he didn't want to do the same to the Princess either. He wasn't quite sure what to say, they don't even know where the camp is and who knows how long they would spend finding it. Then Randi would be right and the Princess's death would be as much their fault as the Dragon's. Then at that moment Slyphine arrived. She must have gotten the message as well, but then Adrian entered after her and was carrying someone. It sounds like he knows what's going on as well, but Taethion noticed the body on his person. Curious, he asked the boy, "Who is that on your shoulder?" He said as he pointed to the body.

Adrian looked to Taethion and a smug formed on his face. "This person here, sir Taethion is our lead to this case." He said followed by a confident hmph. Moments later the bandit woke up and was surprised to find that he is surrounded. He crawled backward and Adrian stopped him by walking behind him. He turned around again and facing Adrian he fall back on the ground.

"Hahaha, don't worry, we just want to ask you more about this hostage taking." Adrian said as he placed his hands on the bandit's shoulder.
"I-I ain't saying anything."
"Come on, don't be like that, we just need you to tell us where your hideout is."
"Like hell I'd say that!"
“Men are born to sinâ€ĻWhat does matter most, is not that we err, it is that we do benefit from our mistakes, that we are capable of sincere repentance, of genuine contrition.” He said, wanting him to repent from a wise word he heard somewhere.
"No. Repentance my ass."
“A man does not have to feel less than human to realize his sin; oppositely, he has to realize that he gets no special vindication for his sin.” He said another one.
"No!"
“Who with repentance is not satisfied, is not of heaven, nor earth.”
"No, Stop!"
“And here, shipmates, is true and faithful repentance; not clamorous for pardon, but grateful for punishment.”
"What shipmate, you moron! You just got that off a book! Even the other ones!"
“Sin is a power; wherever it is given room, it will grow in strength, and it will take you where you do not want to go.”
"No matter what you tell me I ain't telling a word."
"Hmmm... Well I'm all out of ideas guys." He said as he stood back up, knowing the bandit won't dare escape.

Day 3

While Adrian attempted to coax an answer out of the bandit, Sylphine gave a more proper explanation of his identity to Taethion. "While you were being briefed on the situation with the dragon, Adrian and I encountered a group of bandits and had to subdue them. We questioned this one about what they were planning in the woods--since one of his comrades mentioned something about it in passing before we started battling. Then we ended up bringing him back here to be put in prison."

When the interrogation failed, Sylphine sighed and put up her hands. "Would you want me to threaten his life again? Regardless of right or wrong, violence speaks rather effectively to these people."

Folding her arms, she leaned against a wall. "Also, for what it's worth, seeing as I walked in on some of you arguing about whether we should get involved, I'll put my opinions in. Our overall mission is to save the princess, yes, but she's just one person, really, and she might have even died before you all even banded together to save her. No matter how significant she is in this place's politics, I don't see her as being more important than the people at stake here...what are the numbers? 40? 50? Or what, do you believe that a ruler matters more than his or her people?"

All this had been said with a rather calm voice, yet a cold edge could slowly be heard emerging from her words. "But, well, you know, this is only coming from a 16-year old girl from a secluded, primitive village who talks to animals. Take it how you will."

Taethion

Taethion's face lit up as Adrian spoke his claim, about a lead. "A lead are you sure?!" He spoke a bit excitedly. He then began to chuckle at Adrian's attempt to coerce the man into speaking. His lines were rather cheesy, and do sound to be recited from a book. Still he admired his attempts to do this peacefully, but he could tell that appealing to this man's better angels isn't going to work. He then looked over to Sylphine who gave a better description of what went on. He smiled knowing that they might be close to helping these people. "Don't hurt him too much, after all we need him to speak." He spoke. He then listened to the girl's words, which are wise. We at least know these people are alive and if we can make a difference here we should. Despite the Princess's life being in danger, but they must work quick to be able to help both lives.

"Well if we can get this man to speak or better yet show us the way to the bandit's hide away, well you all then help us?" Taethion asked the ones who were against or on the fence with this one.

Randionalia

Randi's face didn't change even after the girl's opinion on the matter. Idealistic youths, she thought to herself. It's not that these people didn't matter, it's just her way. She is use to being a good subordinate and she understands you follow orders, and you follow the plan. To deviate from the plan, people often die, and she's seen it before. The life of an assassin has taught her that much. Still it looks like she was being outnumbered here and she could only sigh. "Fine, if you can get this man to take us to them, then I suppose I'll help in this matter." Randi spoke. "But we better hurry up and make a move. The commander and his men are not going to wait for us to make up our minds." Randi spoke, if they are to do this, then they better do this quickly.

"Huh?!" "You ain't gettin nothin from me! So just stop tryin' ya bloody wankers!" He watched the green haired girl etch closer. "You best be movin' off of me girl! I still won't talk!" He shouted.

A breath of mild displeasure crept out of Bliston's throat. Distractions like this were greatly disliked by him. Removing his hand from where it had been massaging his temples, he pushed off from his spot on the wall and spoke. "I still think it a waste of time but, if you are going to be insistent about this then I suggest resolve things quickly at least."

He began walking over towards where farm boy was standing over the wretch. "Somebody be a dear and go fetch the commander before he and his men depart. It would be nice to have some form of extra manpower available if we need it." He brushed past the boy and the girl, not so gently pushing them out of the way. "Move aside kids. Watch how a professional does it." He then squatted down, and stared at the man. His lips curled into a toothy and not so friendly smile on his face.

The man sort of shuddered when saw that large man walking right on up to him and gave him that eerie smile. "Uh, uh, uh, uh, j-just because your big don't mean I still won't talk! So you just better shove off, I-I won't do it!" He stuttered, yet shouted at the same time.

"Oh really?" Bliston chuckled at the smaller mans response. "Tell me sir, do you know who I am?" He rolled on of his fingers over the 'necklace' hanging from his shoulders, intentionally trying to drawn attention too it.

The prisoner's face seemed to turn blue at the sight as he gasped. "N-N-N-NO! Please! Please, don't take me head! I-I-I know nothin I swear!" He spoke, sweat beginning to drip off his face.

"Why sir," Bliston put a hand on his chest gave fake a hurt expression "I do not wish to take your head." He then put that upon the bandit's shoulder, roughly patting it. "Nor, do I believe, that you know nothing as you claim." He began to squeeze the shoulder, hard. "So, why don't you be a good sport and tell us where your friends are? You must have a place you meet up at every once in a while. Just tell me and we can put all this nasty business behind us."

"Ngh ah!" The Bandit Prisoner yelped at the applied pressure on his shoulder. He stared at the half-demon as he was on the verge of tears. He then began to whine, "Bu-Buh-Buh-But! Puh-Puh-Puh-P-Please! I-I-I-I-uh! I-I can't!" He cried.
Bliston tilted his head a bit. That grin of his diminishing somewhat. He reached out with his other hand and grasped the man's other shoulder. "Shhhh. Calm yourself..." Bliston then stood up hoisted the man to his feet. "See, just stand up and take a deep, breath. Then, once you've gathered your nerve a bit, tell me... why not." A bit of hardness started to work its way into his voice.

He felt that other large hand grip his shoulder and the prisoner was really shaking in his boots. He wasn't sure what he was up to but when he hoisted him up, he just about lost it. "AAAH!" He shouted but to his surprise he was still unharmed. He was confused by his interrogator's tactics, but nearly screamed again at Bliston's more authortative voice. "Wuh-Wuh-W-Well, I-I-I can't say! "I-If I do they'll....they'll...they'll, they'll kill meeeeeeeeeee!" The Bandit cried. "So I can't!" He shouted again.

"Is that so?" Bliston hummed a bit. A look of pity on his face. "You poor, poor man. You've chosen some poor friends. But don't worry, they can't kill you because they're not here right now." Bliston then pulled the man up into the air and slammed him against the wall. "I, however, am!"

"Bwah!" He shouted after the slam. He was a bit disoriented but still retained consciousness. He then began to shed tears, "NO! PLEASE! I DON'T WANT TO DIE!!!!!!!" The man shouted. "I DON'T WANNA DIE!!!" He cried.

"Shhh, shhh" Bliston slipped back into a less aggressive tone. "You're not going to die. You're not." He slowly lowered the man back onto his feet. "I promise, you won't. As long as you start complying." He leaned in close, face to face with the bandit. "Now, if you talk, I can promise a nice clean cell, with a minimal sentence for your assistance. Far out of reach of your unhappy friends. If you don't..." The hardness of his voice crept back in. "The only thing I'll lose is time. And patience."

"N-N-No, please, don't do that!" He stuttered. "J-Just don't hit me...and I-I'll talk...," He mumbled. "Well...er...well I guess that'll work...uuh, so what do you want to know?" The prisoner asked.

Bliston smiled again and leaned back. "Good man." He said, once more in his 'soothing' tone. "Now, which way is it to your friend's little hideout, and how many of you are there?"

"Well...uh, If you can promise that I won't be harmed, then alright. Their hideout is deep in the forest, it's uh, near a lake, and um, there is an fallen tree right over our camp, up on a small cliff I think." The prisoner spoke. "And uh, I-I don't remember how many of us there are...,but I think your two little friends took out a quarter of em." The prisoner continued.

"And the hostages? Are they there too?" Bliston wanted to make sure that the bandits hadn't decided to move them in case someone found their hiding place.

"Y-yes, I believe they are." The prisoner responded. "Its a large camp, I think they're hanging around in some wooden cages. That's about all I know about that." The prisoner finished.

Bliston patted the mans shoulder a bit. "Thank you, you've been most helpful." And then he let go of him. Turning to the others, he grinned. "Well, shall we go?"

Day 3

An awkward silence hung in the air after the daemon was finished interrogating the bandit. It was Sylphine who finally broke it with a cough, commenting, "You know...you're very, um...good at this sort of stuff." Seriously, that actually had been pretty scary. Tranquil fury at its finest...

But, had the bandit lied? It wouldn't hurt to check, the girl decided. Pirika, I know I'm asking a lot these days, but could you find out if the info he gave us is correct?

Oh goody! A chance to get some fresh air, not to mention skewered by something! The bird familiar sarcastically retorted. Whatever, though. I'll go check it out. It should be hard for them to find me among the trees.

Good girl, Sylphine thought, smiling a little. Standing up, she declared, "In any case, I suppose I'll go speak with the comman..." Right as those words half left her mouth, she realized that because she had went off to save that random civilian, she had no idea what the commander looked like at all. Great work, genius. "Actually, never mind," she sighed, putting a hand to her face.

--------------------------------

Hiding among the trees, Pirika surveyed the bandits' camp. Just like the captured bandit said, there was a lake nearby, and a fallen tree lay upon a small cliff overlooking the bandits' residence. There were a few fires and tents around, and most-likely-stolen pieces of equipment were leaned against trees or simply lying on the ground in scattered heaps. Numerous cages were tied to the branches of the trees, housing the imprisoned villagers, who were looking down in despair, or screaming in fear. Classic humans...only showing off what "civilized" brutes they are, Pirika thought angrily, glaring at the bandits.

But the green-feathered bird could tell that things were amiss. Instead of happily joking around the fires, the bandits seemed rather worried. They talked restlessly to each other, paced, seemed to take a lot more interest in their equipment than she would have thought from how scattered everything was...all in all, the camp seemed very on edge.

The avian familiar tried to think back to what Sylphine had heard from the bandit. Everything...him screaming for the mercy of the daemon...him claiming his comrades would kill him...the information on the camp...

"...and uh, I-I don't remember how many of us there are...,but I think your two little friends took out a quarter of em."

That was most likely the reason. Oh dear, we've screwed things up, Pirika realized. If a quarter of the force was missing, then that'd definitely be a cause for paranoia. So despite their "good deed" from earlier, they had put the whole camp on high alert...looking around, Pirika tried to find other weak points in their defense. But while she was looking around, her feathers accidentally brushed through some leaves extremely loudly.

"Huh? What was that?" The bandits looked up, not having noticed any winds earlier. Realizing that she had just blown her own cover, Pirika flapped her wings and send a gentle wind through the trees, causing just as much noise as before. Then she dove away into the leaves of other trees, racing back towards Andril. Mission aborted.

#, as written by Wake
"You know...you're very, um...good at this sort of stuff." The horned man just grinned wider at the bird girl's comment and began leading the group out the door. "I've found that," He started, "sometimes, the threat of violence is more effective than actual violence. You just need to convince someone that pain is in the realm of possibility. Of course, it does help that I have a such handsome face that people have trouble saying no to."

As Bliston marched out of the office he grabbed the attention of the first two soldier he found. Since nobody had gone to get the commander like he asked the horned man had to get somebody else to go flag him down. One solider was asked to do just that, the other he instructed to head back to office and detain the captured bandit. He also asked where the nearest lake was for a better reference for the camps location. With that out of the way the party made their move down to the stable where the wagon and their supplies were.

"Now, it would be nice if we could just run in there, swords swinging. Being a bunch of roving thugs, I doubt many of them have much discipline for being on the defensive." He grunted as he hefted his war-club out of the wagon and began checking his weapons.

"However, with the peasants in their hands, they could probably just drag them out and use them as living shields." Bliston personally didn't care if they did that, but considering said peasants were the reason they were getting dragged into this mess, he had a feeling that a few in the group could be cowed into hesitation by such a move. "So, in order to remove that potential option from their use, we will need to find a means of separating the hostages from them before we hit them full on. And to that end..." He returned to face the rest of the party. "We'll need a distraction."

Resting against the wagon he flicked a glance towards the green haired mage. "Bird girl, can you levitate other people?"

Noticing she was being addressed, Sylphine began to reply, when suddenly a message from Pirika interrupted her thought process again. Bad news, Sylphine. The info the bandit gave us was correct, yeah...but the entire camp seems to be in high alert mode. It's probably because you guys took out too many of them. You'd better be careful!

...oh no, Sylphine thought, knowing this could spell disaster. "Bad news, everyone...I had my familiar go over to the bandits' camp to see if that guy we captured was lying. It was exactly as he described it, yeah, but...they all seem to be on edge right now, since Adrian and I took out a bit too many of them for comfort. Will this affect anything?"

Bliston groused to himself for a moment. "I figured they'd probably get skittish once a few of their members failed to check in." He rubbed his chin. "I was hoping we could get there before they went on alert but..." He shrugged. "Never-mind it for now. We'll deal with it when we get there. In the mean time though I asked you a question. Can you levitate another person?" He stared hard at her as he asked this.

The emerald-haired girl felt herself tense up a bit from the stare, but she returned it with a look that was...probably just as (un)friendly. "I could pick up more of you, yes. What of it?"

The daemon squatted down and began drawing symbols in the dirt with his fingers. "Lets say this is the bandit camp." He said, pointing to one drawing. "And this here is the cliff above it." He continued to draw a few more 'locations' on his impromptu 'battle map'. "Now, if we are to pull this off correctly, we'll need to draw their full attention towards one particular direction. We'll call the group doing the distracting team 'A'." He drew an arrow facing outwards from the camp, towards an 'A' symbol. "While team A is getting their attention, a second group, team 'B', that will be positioned up on the cliff behind the camp, and will attempt to move down to get to where the hostages are. Either to free them, or at least cut the bandits off from direct access to them. That is where your levitation comes in."Sylphine nodded in understanding.

"That just leaves a reserve team on standby to deal with any unforeseen circumstance, and to reinforce once we've gotten the peasants out of immediate danger." Bliston leaned back, contemplating his work and the glancing about to the assembled party. "So now it's a question of who goes in which team."

He looked thoughtful as he pondered out the arrangements. "The distracting team would have to be both noticeable and a bit sturdy. So I'd volunteer myself for that role. And, perhaps the Vasqueran girl for support." He paused, then rubbed his chin. "Well," he said to no one in particular. "Any preferences?"

Randionalia

The Elven Assassin watched as the Daemon interrogated the prisoner. Certainly a more nicer approach than she would have done, but she was glad she didn't have to waste time making someone talk. Yet, it seemed everyone was too distracted with the interrogation to bother about finding the commander. Luckily Bliston went about doing that as well. The Commander got word and held off sending the search and rescue team he had been trying to assemble. Once outside, she prepared to meet with these hostage takers and in the process Bliston devised a strategy.

More and more she was appreciative of having such a member on their team. She didn't doubt the wisdom of the King but the half daemon is proving himself to be invaluable. She listened closely to his plan and then decided where she would fit best. Since they need to be covert about recovering the hostages, she believed her expertize would be best served in the second team. Randi then spoke, "Yes its an excellent course of strategy. Since the hostages are our most important target, I shall lend my aid to Team B."

Taethion

Taethion felt pity for the prisoner, as he watched Bliston both intimidate and threaten the man. He was particularly fearful when Bliston picked him up and slammed him against the wall. He didn't want to see this escalate even further and almost attempted to stop him. Yet, the daemon was able to convince the prisoner and he told him what they all wanted to know. He was so distracted by the ordeal that he forgot to see about stopping the commander. Yet it seemed Bliston took care of that as well. He was just glad the interrogation was over before it seriously begun. He saw a soldier enter the room and detained the prisoner as he took him away to the keep's dungeons. Taethion exited the building to the outside and prepared himself, it was then Bliston had them gather around and come up with some sort of plan.

The Paladin listened to the plan and thought it to be solid. He ain't much of a strategist but he can see the wisdom in the plan. He considered about going on to help those in Team B, since he is really concerned about the prisoners. But then again, those in Team A will be met with resistance. Someone could get hurt and as far as he knows, nobody has any Healing Potions on them. They are gonna need him if it especially gets dicey, and besides he is a warrior, and he would be more suited for a combat position as well. "Well then, I shall lend my aid to Team A! I'll help us keep up the distractions!" Taethion declared.

People talked for a while, discussing what they should do. They had come to the consensus that they should help these people but then the question was where. That was when the two younger members entered, bringing along with them a captive who they had apparently apprehended in the ruined portion of this fort's outer city. They had the captive but the two had made a rather pathetic attempt at interrogating the man. The half demon chose that point to assist in this side mission of Taethion's, taking up the interrogation himself. He wasn't exactly impressed with the half demon's interrogating methods, he was going rather light on the man in his own opinion, but he produced results and ultimately that's what counted in these situations.

The group moved out of the keep and then stopped while the half demon proceeded to construct a tactical approach. He wasn't opposed to working cohesively in a group but he really couldn't care about the objective these people are working towards. On top of that fact he doesn't want to speak and show his hand to the rest of the group. Once they find out he can talk they will start asking questions and when that begins keeping secrets will be made more difficult. At least, that was the excuse he gave himself. If he were honest with himself he simply didn't want to talk to any of them, especially about anything they wanted to talk about. He was interested in learning the methods of burial these people practice from the holy man but that was it. These were barbaric times and these people were nothing short of barbarians, swinging clubs and crude blades, drawing their magic from nature and a primitive understanding of forces which would be beyond true comprehension for them. Even he, a mere foot soldier serving in a legion had seen all this and so much more back during the campaign in Ru'ul. There was no conversation any of these people could offer him that would be anything near meaningful. At least, that is what he believed.

Forcing himself back into the moment he noticed they were dividing themselves into two teams with a reserve force for reinforcements. All he did was stand there, listening to who was saying what. He wanted to be aware incase any of them mentioned him in any manner. If he was going to be shuffled into a task force he wanted to know who he was going to be working with and what he was supposed to do.

Adrian's jaw was dropped the whole time Bliston was interrogating the prisoner. His method of interrogation was scary in so many ways. Mostly, in his fake kind-ish act probably. It was unbelievable, his sight and hearing must be messing with him. Thought, it was resolved without actually hurting the prisoner so all's well that ends well. Adrian pushed his jaw back in place. With the base found, Bliston started devising a plan to get the civilians back. Listening to the conversation Adrian's answer was none but one. "I want to help the prisoners escape. I will go with team B." Adrian said, sounding serious for once, well he was very serious about all the other things he did. It's just that he don't look like it for most part. Except his belief.

Taethion watched as the Gravedigger downed the Bandit Leader, after he finished his business with Sylphine. Afterwards the Gravedigger decided to do what he does best dig. A new mass grave was forming and this act could take awhile, after all the Paladin doesn't believe any of the bandits escaped with their lives. He noticed the Elf, Randionalia, gathering the last of the hostages. She asked Taethion to come and see if any of the hostages need healing. Besides some scuffs and bruising no grievous harm was ever done to them, well at least physically. Randi called the group together and told them to begin lending a hand to the Digger. Normally she would have left these vermin to rot in the Sun, but it seems the Digger had other intentions. And since he couldn't understand them, she figured it would be more quicker to get those bodies in the dirt instead of conducting a language lesson. After the deed was done, and within good time the Heroes returned to their caravan to lead the hostages back home.

It was a few hours, considering they had to move a lot of people while they walked. They soon reached the walls of Andril before dusk as the mass of people flooded into the city. There were tears of joy and for the first time since they arrived, Andril looked a little brighter. Amidst the revelry the Commander and a squad of troops arrived to meet the Heroes in the village square. The Commander was deeply and truly grateful for their assistance in this matter. He spoke with us, asking about the hostages and the bandits and their camp. Randi answered the Commander's questions and with a nod he sent a squad of his men to go and investigate the camp and to of course clean it up. The Commander pulled Randi to the side to speak with her privately. It was a few minutes before Randi returned, a parchment in her hand.

"You may all want to hear this." She spoke to the group. "It's about the Dragon." She quickly got the group's attention. "It appears our little juncture was not without reward. I hold in my hand a message that arrived on a falcon, by none other than the Royal Huntsman. You probably didn't know this but a little over a year ago, he was tasked by the King to discover the location of the Dragon's Lair. He would communicate by Falcon every month to update his progression on the mission. It would seem today that message arrived here before being sent onward to Beystead. The Huntsman has written quite a bit, but there is a bit of information that is the most important. He says he is close to discovering the Lair and hopes to find it in the coming months." Randi spoke as the group listened to this interesting piece of development. "It seems our next course of action is clear, we must find the Royal Huntsman and have him tell us what he knows. If he truly is on the verge of making a discovery, then we must know what it is, perhaps it will be the very thing we need to complete this quest." Randi spoke as mild excitement arose from her voice.

The Paladin then spoke, "Do you know where he is?" he asked. "Yes, he has given his last location here, the town of Ocford, meaning it would run along the Ford River, which would be North-Northwest of here." Randi spoke. "How far is that from here?" Taethion asked. "That is about the only bad piece of news from this, if we are traveling to Ocford then it will take us quite some time to arrive. If I had to estimate, it will take us a few months to see the river on horseback." Randi spoke a bit solemnly. Taethion only nodded. "Which is why we are leaving tomorrow morning! The Commander is seeing that we have lodgings for the evening, he is also seeking to resupply us for our troubles, I told it wasn't necessary but he said free lodgings and supplies was the least he could do for us." Randi spoke.

"How will the Huntsman know we are coming to meet him? Will he really wait that long for us?" Taethion asked concerned. Randi looked back at the group and a frown still visible on her face. "Luckily the Commander still has the Huntsman's Falcon, so he won't be leaving until he's received both his falcon and a reply. Although I asked the Commander to send a message to the Huntsman, detailing him about our mission and our interest in meeting him, I doubt he will wait the full three months or so it will take for us to get there. After all he has a mission to accomplish and once he learns about the Princess's abduction, he will most likely take to his mission with even more fervor." Randi spoke as her she mounted her horse. "Hopefully he will leave a message for us if that so happens. I suggest we head back up to the Keep, he's having his men set up bedding for us in the main hall for night. Be sure to get your rest, we have a long journey ahead of us." Randi spoke as she headed for the Keep. The Party eventually did the same.

It was the following morning, the Party was forced to rise early by a persistent Randi. The Party have gathered their things both new and old as the wagon was prepped with fresh supplies. They weren't much but between it and Beystead's supplies, they would have enough to keep on going for a while without having to stop in town to resupply. As the Party gathered, some on horseback, and others by whatever means they use to travel, exited the Keep and entered the square. There the People of Andril applauded and praised the Heroes. Many with smiling faces as waves and kisses were blown. The kids were very excited to see actual adventurers walk through town. While the people showed reservation to the more intimidating members of the group, they still expressed their gratitude, even though it was mostly unspoken. Taethion waved goodbye to the people, a large smile formed on his face. He was glad to have helped this town through its most difficult time and hopefully with more people back the town will be on the road to recovery even more quickly. As the Party said whatever goodbyes they may decided to give, they exited through the North Gate and where on their way once again. Taethion looked over his shoulder as the Fort Town of Andril grew smaller and smaller in the distance. He then turned his head forward as the party moved onward, heading for Ocford and whatever else may be waiting down the road.
