īŧ°īŧĨīŧ˛īŧŗīŧ¯īŧŽīŧĄīŧŦīŧŠīŧ´īŧš:
❖ Hardworking ❖ Bold ❖ Curious ❖ Nosy ❖ Independent ❖ Humble ❖ Open-Minded ❖ Intellectual ❖

Many things (both good and bad) can be said about Sera's character. For the most part, Sera is a hardworking, determined individual. She dives straight into any and every project that she takes on and she always puts her all into them. She loves to work on her inventions, and she sees fixing and creating things for friends and family as a hobby rather than work. However, Sera is prone to overworking herself and she sometimes makes herself sick by taking on too many projects at once.

Sera loves to be around people and socialize. She enjoys being alone sometimes (especially when she is working), but more than anything, Sera likes to be around people and to pick their brains for bits of knowledge. She is a bit of a nosy person and is not afraid to ask personal, sometimes inappropriate questions. That being said, when she does ask a personal question, Sera has a generally open mind and usually reserves judgement until she has time to think about the person's answer.

Despite the fact that Sera is a social being, she is very independent. Within reason, she does what she wants when she wants to. While she loves to have friends when she goes somewhere or do something, Sera is perfectly fine with doing things alone. This is why she is mostly considered a social "drifter" to everyone who knows her. She can never really stick with one group of friends and usually has no trouble simply jumping into any group at any given time.

There is not a lot that Sera fears; however, the things that she does fear (mainly rejection, confinement, and drowning), she is absolutely terrified of. She is not extremely proud of her bravery and she dislikes parading it about, but she does use it to her advantage when it comes to trying new things and standing up for herself. Sera is for the most part a pacifist in both the verbal and physical sense. Her intellect paired with the build of her body (and her surprising strength) give her the capacity to win many verbal and physical fights; however, she just does not like getting into them. This is not to say that Sera will stand by and let someone insult her, but she prefers to user her intellect and strength to stop fights rather than start them.

īŧŦīŧŠīŧĢīŧĨīŧŗ:
✔ Puzzles & Riddles : Having a mind and memory like Sera's can make many things boring for her. That is why she enjoys puzzles and riddles more than anything. She actually has to think them through rather than instantly knowing the answer which is boring.
✔ Music : Sera has a rather eclectic taste in music. She mostly likes classical and blues when she is working on something, and pop or hip-hop when she is in the mood to have fun. Although she is not as talented at playing instruments as a child of Apollo, she is about to control sound that comes from them.
✔ Romance : With such a cool, logical outlook on life, it is surprising that Sera loves everything romantic. She is a firm believer that everyone has a soulmate and that true love is one thing that is completely outside of human control.
✔ Heat : Hot weather, hot drinks, hot food, hot people. Being the daughter of the God of fire, Sera has a natural affinity for heat. Even on hot summer days, Sera can be seen sipping on scalding hot coffee.
✔ Comfy Clothing : Sera does not hate dressing up; however, she generally favors comfort over style. That is not to say that she has no concern for her appearance. She loves comfy clothing, but she also loves clothing that looks good on her.
✔ Reading : Everything from physics textbooks to crappy tabloid magazines, Sera will read any material placed in front of her and has been doing so since a young age. It is for this reason that Sera is able to speed read and still retain the information.
✔ Exercising : Sera's mind is constantly working a mile a minute and that is often mentally exhausting and frustrating for her. So, in order to relax her bustling mind, Sera loves to go for long runs or do an intense work out. It calms her mind and makes her physically tired rather than mentally so (which is better in her opinion). She often cannot fall asleep at night unless she has done some type of work out.
✔ Complex Technology : Sera has already built, dismantled, and rebuilt every piece of technology you could think of. Sera loves all inventions. Everything from watches to computers to cars to lamps, Sera is the person that people go to to get things built and fixed. It is a hobby for her, not a chore.
✔ Anything Expensive : In Sera's opinion, expensive things are unnecessary; however, that does not mean that she doesn't have an expensive taste. She just things that expensive things are prettier.

īŧ¤īŧŠīŧŗīŧŦīŧŠīŧĢīŧĨīŧŗ:
✖ Sweets : Sera is more inclined to eat a salty treat as opposed to a sweet one. She enjoys a piece of chocolate every now-and-then, but in general, Sera dislikes sweets.
✖ Darkness : Although she does not fear the darkness, Sera dislikes it. She obviously doesn't mind sleeping in the darkness, but she does not like doing things in the dark.
✖ Cold : Since Sera loves the heat so much, she naturally hates anything cold. She hates winter and ice cream and cold drinks.
✖ Lack Of Knowledge : In short, Sera hates not knowing things. She hates surprises and being left out on plans
✖ Lazy People : Sera hates people with little or no work ethic. She feels that there is no purpose to life if all you are going to do is lay around and do nothing.
✖ Anything Fake : This goes for anything from fake designer handbags to people who act in a fake manner. Anything that is not genuine and true makes Sera annoyed and angry.
✖ Most Of The Gods : Not only does Sera hate the way that most of the Gods treat their children, but she also hates the way that they treat her father. He tries to not complain about it, but Sera can see that he is not respected as much as some of the other Gods.

īŧĻīŧĨīŧĄīŧ˛īŧŗ:
☠ Confinement : Whenever Sera is in a space that is too small or if she is in one space for too long, she gets the feeling that she is trapped and she panics a bit. She has learned to control this, but she still fears small spaces and being trapped. This fear also relates to her mind in that if Sera does not do enough mental exercise or physical exercise, she begins to feel confined within her own mind. This leads to her feeling stressed, panicked, and exceedingly angry.
☠ Drowning : Sera knows how to swim and she is not bad at it when she is in stagnant, relatively shallow water; however, fast-moving or deep water scares her to death. She does not know where this fear came from, but her mother tells her that the first time that they went to ocean was on a day where the waves were particularly choppy and big, and Sera started crying before they reached the water and she refused to even put her foot in.
☠ Rejection : A personality flaw of Sera's is her fear of rejection. She does not constantly search for approval by everyone around her; however, she does fear that she will be cast aside by her friends and family at some point in her life.

īŧ˛īŧĨīŧŦīŧĄīŧ´īŧŠīŧ¯īŧŽīŧŗīŧ¨īŧŠīŧ° īŧˇīŧŠīŧ´īŧ¨ īŧ§īŧ¯īŧ¤īŧŦīŧš īŧ°īŧĄīŧ˛īŧĨīŧŽīŧ´:
More than anything, Sera respects her father. He has visited her several times and she always finds that he makes her feel inferior and slightly unwanted. He criticizes nearly everything she does and never seems to approve of her. However, for all the emotional hurt Hephaestus causes her, each time he visits, he leaves Sera with words of wisdom, encouragement, and kindness. At the end of a visit, Sera often finds herself feeling conflicted; she is hurt and angered by his harsh criticism, but she inspired by his power, intellect, and surprisingly kind heart. Unlike some Demigods, Sera does not blame her father for not visiting often. After all, she understands that being a God is probably an important, time-consuming task (not to mention the other children that Hephaestus has to visit as well).

For all of Sera's respect and admiration for her father, she holds little actual love for him. He is her father, which is why Sera finds it hard to hate him; however, she has trouble seeing him as a father figure. She has an easier time viewing her stepfather as a father figure than she does Hephaestus. Since her stepfather's passing, Sera has been attempting to deepen the relationship between herself and Hephaestus, but the fact that he is rarely around paired with the fact that he treats her harshly when he is around, put Sera off a bit. Overall, she admires Hephaestus, but does not feel the need or want to love him.

īŧĸīŧŠīŧ¯īŧ§īŧ˛īŧĄīŧ°īŧ¨īŧš:
Sera was born on a hot August day in an apartment in Compton, California. Unlike the other two children that she had birthed and put up for adoption, Sera's mother knew exactly who the father of her new baby girl was: the only man that she had ever truly loved. She had been a drug addict for years and could hardly remember the time in her life when she was not. Despite her addiction, Lena was a good woman. She was intelligent, kind, and she made an honest living as a social worker. Not many people, aside from her dealer and her brother, knew that she was an addict. She hadn't known that he was a God when she fell for a handsome, loving man named Steven, who single-handedly pulled her out of her drug addiction. She only knew that he had cared deeply for her, and then, about a month into her pregnancy, he was gone. Sera's mother resented the baby girl because she blamed her for Steven's leaving; however, unlike her other two children, Sera's mother did not give Sera away in hopes that Steven would come back to see the girl.

For all that Sera's mother resented her, she was a good mother. She spent just about all of the money she earned on feeding and clothing her baby girl. She had truly loved Steven, so by extension, she loved Sera. She attempted once to move out of Compton where she knew neither her nor her baby were safe; however, she had little means to do so. She stayed clean for the first few years of Sera's life, and she was constantly heckled by everyone in her neighborhood because of it. Sera was only three when her mother relapsed and began to use again. She never fully neglected Sera because she still loved her baby girl, but she began to leave Sera alone at home more and more frequently. A few months after her mother's relapse was the first time Sera ever met her father. She had been left alone to cry for several hours and when he came into the room, she immediately ceased her bawling. Hephaestus picked her up, and he cradled and cooed her until she fell asleep. And just like that, he was gone before anyone even knew he was there.

Sera was four when her mother overdosed and passed quietly in the emergency room. All Sera remembers is her uncle coming to pick her up with tears in his eyes and that was the last time she ever saw that crappy apartment in Compton. Sera does not blame or resent her mother for anything. She just believes that the woman made a few wrong decisions and did not know how to remedy them.

Sera spent the next part of her life in happiness with her Uncle Briant and her older cousin Carter. Sera saw her uncle as a father figure and Carter as her brother. The cousins were inseparable and did most everything together even as they began to grow older. After high school, Carter spent a year at home helping his father, but decided to go to community college after that year. Although Sera had a thriving social life at her school, she felt lonely without Carter. So, when an adorable, blue-eyed puppy followed her home from school one day, Sera could not help herself. Her uncle was adamant that they not have any pets because they were, in his opinion, annoying and smelly. However, Sera, being the determined and stubborn girl she is, refused to simply leave the pup to fend for itself. She secretly trained it in her room to know its name (Icarus or "Ike" after the son of the master craftsman), to sit, stay, and to not pee over everything. She then returned to her uncle with her newly-trained puppy, and he found that he couldn't say no to her or to the well-trained, adorable puppy.

After about her tenth birthday, Sera's powers began to completely develop, and she and her family began to notice that she was not like other children. They had noticed before that she was more affluent with technology and inventing, but they only thought that she was perhaps some type of prodigy in the field of invention. They had noticed that she would sometimes generate sparks between her fingers, but they just thought her long hair caused static electricity to build up. It was not until the eve of Sera's eleventh birthday that they realized something was truly different about her. They had built a bonfire out in their backyard and were about to roast some marshmallows over it. Sera came bounding out into the yard with said marshmallows, tripped, and fell right into the fire. She immediately pulled herself out of it and found that absolutely nothing was wrong with her. Her clothing was a bit burned, but she had no burns on her skin, no singed hair, and no pain. The three of them were stunned and confused. Sera's uncle attempted to get her to go to the hospital, but when she insisted that there was nothing wrong with her, they lapsed into a silence.

They did not speak of the event until one evening about a week after the incident. They were once again sitting in their backyard when a young, familiar-looking man came through the trees. He bypassed all formality and immediately began to explain that he was Hephaestus, the God of Fire and Craftsmen, and that he was Sera's father. While her uncle and cousin chuckled at this, Sera was confused, but found that she took him seriously. He explained this was the reason that she was good with inventions, and why she generated electricity sometimes, and why she had not been burned by the bonfire. As he spoke, Sera's uncle and cousin stopped laughing. They had told no one of this incident. Despite the fact that this man looked extremely familiar, Sera's uncle became afraid that the man had been watching them and that he was some type of crazy, so he forced him out of their backyard and herded Sera and Carter into the house. Sera's uncle called the police and reported the man, but again, the family did not speak of this odd incident and they passed the man off as crazy. Sera tried her hardest to do the same, but she found that she kept thinking of the man's words and how they could be very true. It was not until two more weeks had passed that she saw the man again. She was walking home from school and he stopped her. She was afraid at first, but something told her that this man was more than just some crazed stalker. Only after he was able to explain the situation surrounding her birth and her mother's death did Sera fully begin to believe him. He then proceeded to show her his own powers over fire, electricity, sound, and invention; this is when Sera began to believe that he was actually a god.

Sera never told her uncle or her cousin about her meeting with Hephaestus, nor has she told them about any of his subsequent visits. Over the years, he taught her how to wield her powers, about the Gods and Goddesses, about all of her half-siblings, and about his relationship with her mother. Sera never grew to see him as a father figure because she always felt like he never really wanted that relationship with her; however, she still respects and admires him. So, when Hephaestus asked her to consider going to Aeonis Academy, Sera found it hard to refuse. It was difficult to convince her uncle to let her go, and during the process, Sera began to regret the fact that she was putting her uncle in such a hard position; however he finally ceded to her when she explained that she would be getting a better education than she would at their public high school. Despite Sera's rough, independent exterior, she still calls her uncle and her cousin every day to check in. She hates lying to them about the nature of her academy, but she would never want to frighten them or put them in any type of danger.

īŧĻīŧĄīŧļīŧ¯īŧ˛īŧŠīŧ´īŧĨ īŧ°īŧ¯īŧˇīŧĨīŧ˛:
:: Invention ::
Like every child of Hephaestus, Sera has the power to create just about any invention she can think of and do so easily. While this may not seem as fantastic or important as Sera's other abilities (like her control of fire or electricity) this is truly her favorite power. She has a creative and exceedingly intellectual mind and loves to sketching out possible inventions; so, the power to invent just about anything she can think of with ease is extremely exciting for a girl like Sera.

īŧīŧŠīŧŗīŧŖīŧĨīŧŦīŧŦīŧĄīŧŽīŧĨīŧ¯īŧĩīŧŗ:
:: Tattoos ::
One || Below Elbow || The three bands represent her uncle (the topmost band), cousin (the lower band), and mother (the broken, middle band). Her mother's band is broken due to the fact that she has passed and because while she was alive, she was a very broken person. While this may seem cruel for her to represent in a tattoo, it reminds Sera that every broken person has the chance to be fixed and made whole again and that no one is ever completely perfect.
Two || Right Shoulder || No one knows what the number, 1 1549, means.

:: Piercings ::
Ears || Six On Each || She only really wears two or three unless she feels like dressing up a bit.
Nose || One || She keeps a small gold or silver stud in at all times.

:: Pet ::
Icarus "Ike" || 5 Years Old || German Shepherd-Husky Mix || Ike follows Sera everywhere. He is quiet and only barks when he is nervous. Ike is extremely friendly and sweet to everyone unless they are somehow - emotionally or physically - harming Sera, or he senses that Sera feels uncomfortable around that person.
