Amber Jay McKrackin's Story

After Ty unbound his hands with her fire, Kaiden clapped his hands together once. "Say that's pretty interesting. Is that what got you caught? Or was it something else?" Kaiden looked over at the girl who went on about him being a coward again, but ignored the insult. "Say, what would your affinity be? Can you do things with an element?"

"I say we just stop this truck now while we still can instead of wasting time arguing about it"

He turned to look at the girl who had just shouted out. Interesting hair, he thought to himself and smiled again. "When you refer to optimist, just who might you be talking about?" he said, finding it rather fascinating that this girl seemed to glow a little.

Kaiden nodded as the girl with the blue hair answered his question. "I suppose I should take that as a compliment, seeing as the rest of you look so angry." Then he turned his head to the boy who had just asked them if they could get along. The faint smile stayed on his face but his eyes grew a little sad. This boy looked about the same age his sister was when she died. He shrugged off the memory and looked back up at Ty. "You know, if you don't calm yourself a bit, your going to melt us." he said, thn looked over at the girl who had bickered at him earlier. The angry tone of voice changing to a bit of a weak one after he asked her what her affinity had been. The smile vanished. "What would you do? Where would you go if you did escape after all? You think they would just forget about you?" He sighed and leaned his head back against the wall of the vehicle and starred at the metal ceiling, his eyes blank of any thoughts or emotions. "They will just keep coming, and coming, and coming." He said softly, then turned his head to the girl with a bit of a smirk. "You actually think you'd be able to deal with that?"

Kaiden watched as the blue-haired girl stood up and banged on the wall that separated them and the soldiers. "Hey are you stupid or something!" he yelled and stood up, barely keeping himself from falling over as the vehicle stopped abruptly. "I'm not going to have any part in this!" His heart lurched as the sound of weapons being passed around could be heard. He reached forward and grabbed the collar of the blue-haired girls shirt and tugged on it. "You're going to get us all killed you know that!" he scolded, but coughed a little because of the smoke that was beginning to come off of Ty's body.

Kaiden jumped back at the feeling of being shocked and leaned his back against the wall to keep himself from falling over. Electricity? That's interesting, he thought to himself just before the door opened. Kaiden turned his head towards the opening. "Put your hands where we can see them and get on the floor now!! We will not hesitate to shoot!!" They yelled, holding up a large gun. So few guards.., he thought to himself, then smiled. What kind of guy would I be if I let them shoot a bunch of girls and little kids? Suddenly, and almost unwillingly, he leaped from the vehicle and knocked the guard onto his back just before he had time to shoot. With his hand placed on the mans forehead, he clutched his fingers together and ice wrapped itself around the mans face. In seconds the mans head, inside and out, had frozen and turned blue from intense frost bite. After the guard was dead he stood up and turned to face everyone. "You said you wanted to get out of here right? Now's your chance!" he said, a serious expression on his face.

Kaiden faintly smiled at Ty's comment. "Well, if you want to call it that, fine by be." he said, glancing at the two twin boys. He felt a little guilty killing someone in front of them. They were still young and shouldn't have to see things like this. But if they were all planning to escape, they would have to get used to it sooner or later. He looked over at the girl with the white hair. "Impressive affinity you've got there." Then he looked up at the blue-haired girl who had electrocuted him earlier. "Well sparky? You got what you wanted so how about you just run off so we don't have to worry about you putting us in danger anymore." He let out a sigh to calm himself and took a few steps forward, holding his hand out to help her get down from the truck. "If you jump out and hurt your ankle or something ridiculous like that, you're not going to be able to run." He said, his tone of voice showing that he was clearly irritated.

Kaiden looks up in surprise to see another person jumps down from the back of the van and the hand that he held out for the blue-haired girl dropped as he turned to face him. "Well, here I was thinking I was the only guy here, well apart from the kids." He said to the man who had gotten out of the truck. "I'm Kaiden and.." He stopped for a moment then looked around at the others. "Hey you know what, that reminds me, I think I'm the only one here who's introduced himself." He said with a faint smile. "So what are all of you names?" He was mostly directing it to the newcomer who had just woken up, but he was also curious what the others names were too. If he remembered correctly the girl with the red hair was named 'Ty', but he wasn't excactly positive and didn't want to end up calling her the wrong name.

After Sky announced that more soldiers were coming, he began to follow the others, racing his way to a nearby hill when Sky stopped and turned back. Kaiden, seeing this, stopped and turned, watching the scene unfold as Ty formed a shield of fire to protect the two twin boys. And for a moment I thought things were going good, he thought to himself as he watched as the number of guards began to lessen from the attacks of Ty and Sky, then become greater as more swept in.

"Run I'll hold them off."

He hears Ty say and he takes a couple steps backward. I could just go.., he thought to himself. The guards are too busy taking care of Windy down there. I could easily get away without being noticed.. He quickly banished the thought. "Shut up Ty, this is everyone's fight." he said firmly, kneeling down and placing his hands on the grass. The ground began to freeze over, spreading its way over the grass and then the sidewalk and pavement. The ice wrapped itself around the metallic vehicles the guards had been driving, freezing the wheels to the cement as well as the legs of all of the guards who had been unlucky enough to be standing on the ground, their legs frozen solid to the knee. The only area that hadn't been frozen was the ground around Ty's fire.

"Everybody get off of the ice now!"

Kaiden heard Amber yell and watched her place both her hands on the icy ground. Kaiden swept his right hand over the ice and the ground around the other affinities spread back and left a patch of open ground where they were standing just in time to watch the soldiers who were stuck on the ice be electrocuted by Amber's volts. The ice around their legs instantly evaporated and the men fell over. He stood up and gave Amber a nod with a forgiving smile, then turned his head to where Sky was using his wind affinity and cupped his hands around his mouth. "We've got to get out of here right now!! While there are hardly any soldiers here! their reinforcements could be here any minute now's our chance!!" He yelled, then looked over at Fey, remembering the way she crushed the car with her ability. "Nice by the way." He said with a faint smile. "For someone who had no idea what her affinity was less than twenty minutes ago."

"Don't apologize." Kaiden said with a smile. "And yea, you could say it was cool." He looked back once more at Sky and then turned and began to run after the others towards the forest. "Let's go!" he called back to Amber and begun to run as fast as he could. He wanted to get out of eye sight before any more guards could show up. The rest of us can meet up in the forest, he thought to himself as he neared the outline of trees. Then I'll decide whether I'm going to hang around these guys or make my own escape route. It suddenly hit him as he thought this that he had never planned to escape in the first place. All he wanted to do was get it all over with so e could see his sister again. As he finally reached the trees he leaped over the roots of a pine tree and made his dash into the forest, a few of the bushes whipping him as he ran by. It would've been better if I'd stayed in that damn car, He thought to himself, still pondering on whether or not he should let himself be caught again.

Kaiden nodded at Sky's answer and then looked over at Fey. "If the feds know about it, then yea it's probably being targeted. But then again they might not so it could be a safe place. We should at least leave the kids there. It's too dangerous for them out here. I don't even think they know what there affinities are anyway and-" he cut off as he swore he saw something move in the distance. Stopping abruptly he squinted his eyes to get a better look. It was hard to see through the trees and brush, not to mention it was getting dark out and the sun was setting fast, but he could see the slight outline of a person laying on the ground. What the hell is that? he thinks to himself as he picks up a jog to see what it was. He stopped and looked down at a girl lying on the mossy forest ground next to one of the trees. The first thing he noticed was the bloody left shoulder the girl had up in a sling made of cloth. "Crap..She wasn't in the van with us. where the hell did she come from?" Kaiden knelt onto the ground beside the girl and turned his head back to the others. "Hey! there's someone over here! Hurry up!" he yells, but not too loudly just in case some of the soldiers managed to follow them into the forest.

Kaiden shook his head at Amber. "No, if she was we would've noticed it a while ago." He stood up and looked at Ty. "Hey, maybe you could singe the wound shut or something?" He said. He was keeping a calm and serious appearance on the outside but on the inside he was completely panicking and honestly had no idea what to do for the girl. He wasn't even sure if she was even alive.

Thank goodness! Yumi thinks, standing up from beside her body. She makes herself visible to the others around her.

"Im sure this looks really strange to you," she says as she watches her saviors shoot their eyes from the Yumi passed out by the tree and the Yumi standing before them," but I can explain. My name is Amaya Yumi and I am her." She points to the body on the ground, " Ill explain everything later but if you don't wake my body up then I'll be trapped out here! I made a tournaquet from my pant leg so my body is still alive, I just passed out. Once you wake her up I can get back in. And don't worry about all the blood, the bullet went through-and-through and seems to have missed any vital organs. I just need a patch job."

She watches thankfully as one of them shakes her body awake. Her body rolls its neck towards her prajection and opens its lazy eyes, smiling up at its master. I missed you too she thinks as her spine tingles. She cracks her neck stretches her working arm.

"Thanks, I don't know how much longer I would have lasted...staring at yourself can get really boring," she shoots them a peace sign and smiles. "You can call me Yumi."

Kaiden smiled at the two boys. Guess they do know how to use their affinities, he thinks to himself. After seeing Sky grab Yumi and take off to get her to safety, he turns and runs in the opposite direction, leaving Fey, Ty, and Amber to take care of themselves. He was sure Ty would probably keep and eye on the boys too. As he ran through the undergrowth, he kept his eye in the direction of where the soldiers were, trying to count how many there were. "one...two....four..." he whispered to himself and then stopped and hid himself behind a tree. He was still too far off for them to hear him but that didn't mean they couldn't see him. Kaiden turned his head and peeked from behind the tree. He was positive there were only about eight of them, apart from which ones the twins had killed earlier, but there was no way he'd get close enough without being spotted and getting a couple dozen bullets in him. This was the problem with his affinity. Long-range fighting was nearly impossible for him. After using so much of his ability back when he froze the street caused his temperature to rise to about 101 degrees and it was harder to create a large amount or a thick layer of ice in this state. Why fight? He heard a voice inside his head ask. You will never be noticed if you just stay here and let the others take care of it. Kaiden sighed quietly and closed his eyes and a faint smile appeared on his face. This only lasted for a moment before he frowned again and slid his back down the tree and sat on the ground, breathing roughly. "There aren't that many, and besides you were never planning to fight back in the first place..." He whispers to himself and opens his eyes to look in the direction where he had left the others. If they need my help then I'll interfere. Otherwise I can't really do much with my body temperature this high. I really need to use my affinity more often, he thinks to himself, a faint smile crossing his face once again.

Sky got the seven from Yumi and was content because he finally got a card right. He then laid down his hand and got up, "I'm gonna go find the others..." He spoke quietly as he walked out using his wind to jump higher and started to fly 'Hmm... I've never done this before...' he thought as he narrowly evaded the tree in front of him, 'is this from my fighting?' On the way there he heard something like a chopping sound behind him, he stopped and turned around to see a chopper behind him, "These guys never give up do they?!" He screamed as he flew faster to reach the others and dove into the trees finding them, "Come on! Lets go!" He then grabbed Fey and Amber by their wrists, "Lets get somewhere safe" he said as he ran off.

Sky running with the girls hears the chopper fly by, 'Damn...' he thought as he let go and jumped up, "Back off!" he said as he sent a slashing gust of wind into the tail of the chopper to try to knock it away, he then flies towards it and slams himself into the cockpit and kicks he pilot out throwing him into the rotating blades killing him and breaking the blades, the then jumps out of the helicopter and lands in font of the others, "Now that the pesky chopper is gone, shall we continue?" He said as he ran to the cave. A few minutes later he gets to the entrance and walks in, "I'm back." he said as he sat by the pile of sticks, 'we don't have fire do we?' he thought as he got up and looked at some of the rocks, "there should be some rocks I could use.." he mutteed

Kaiden let out a laugh at Yumi's suggestion, ignoring the fact that she threw a piece of fruit at him. "You think anyone is going to help a bunch of escapees?" He leaned his back against the cave wall and smiled faintly. "There will be posters everywhere with our names and faces on them. Many have probably tried to escape after being caught, but I bet we're the first group that actually got away. I'm guessing the ones in the resistance are just a bunch of affinities who were lucky enough to find each other before getting caught." His facial expression turned blank for a moment and he looked up at the stone ceiling of the cave. "And Ty is dead. There is no way she could be out there for two days and still be alive." He then glanced over at the twins, then back to Yumi, his expression staying emotionless. "If they expect to stay alive for long then they need to get used to it." A faint smile, almost sinister, appeared on his face. "And besides, Wrax here is a natural-born killer. Despite the fact that he's just a kid, I'd say he did a mighty fine job taking care of those soldiers." He then gave a sweet smile in the direction of the boy, though he was fast asleep, then let out a yawn. "So, what are we going to do next?" he said cheerfully as if they were on a camping trip, directing the question to the other affinities. "Hey, wait a minute." He said, standing up and facing towards the back of the cave. "Hey Windy!!" He called out, his voice echoing in the cave. "You should be in on this too. You can go girl-scouting later!" He called back, recalling that Sky had gone back into the cave to explore.

His comment about Wrax had confused her, You mean, all of those bodies... she pushed the thought out of her mind, they're were more imortant things at hand.
"You forgot about me moron," she snaps back at him, "I can get us in anywhere, we don't need permission when I can walk through walls." She wasn't quite sure why she had gotten so defensive. There was just something about this boy that she actually kind of liked. He was rash and honest, not something she was used to. But she still hated the way he talked to her, and she still had the urge to insult him. She continued, "If the resistance is out there, we will find it. They're always recruiting members ya know, they have to have contacts somwhere. Like I said, we just have to talk to the right people. Plus if anyone dares approach us you can just scare them away with that stupid grin." She smirked and called back to Sky as well, "Come up here Sky, we need a rational head."

"Your affinity ain't too bad either." Kaiden said with a smile at the boy. He had to admit, he was impressed. In fact, he was a little surprised at the similarities between Fey's affinity and Zachs. They could almost do the exact same things. He then stretched his hands over his head and leaped into the river. He closed his eyes and held his breath as he went under. The water was a little chilly, but that was what made it feel good. He resurfaced and stood up, his bare feet digging into the sandy bottom. The water really only came up to his stomach so the current wasn't a problem. The others should really take a break too, he thought to himself and leaned down so his shoulders were in the water. His thoughts a couple days later about leaving the group had began to sink to the back of his mind. Though, he still felt like he would be better on his own, there was something about the other affinities that he liked. It's easier to get away when your enemies have more than one target, a little voice inside of his head said, but he let that fade away as quick as it appeared. He smiled up at Yumi. "Come one then."

Yumi accepted Sky's hand pulling him up into her bubble with her. They were pretty close together, Yumi was almost laying across Sky's lap, she blushed and said, "Hey Zack, can you give me and my friend here a little more space." He obliged making it large enough for the two of them.

They were now at the river. She had been watching Zach fish, and was enjoying being near the water. It was a pretty nice day, the sun was shining down and reflected off the river, it was splashing agianst the waters edge casting a spray over her as she sat on a boulder that hang slightly over the water She looked up at the sky, resting on her good arm outstretched behind her. Har hat cast just enough shadow to block the sun, but the rays bathed her cheeks and mouth, the freckles hidden on her nose were slowly starting to show as she got more sun.
She called over to Sky, "I'm ready to clean my shoulder now," she said removing the dirty sling.

He must be able to tell by the pressure of the wind, interesting.. Kaiden thought to himself and let out a sigh as he stood up and retrieved his shirt, which was still soaking wet. "Such a downer Sky." He said jokingly as he slipped his arms through the long sleeves and buttoned up the front of the shirt. "But I guess we should go back and check on Fey and Sparky. They seemed pretty exhausted when we left. That Wrax kid too." He said with a slight smile and then turned to face him. "You make us sound so weak you know. But I guess you do have a point. I'd rather not have to back any of you up after all." He said, his smile widening a little. Kaiden made his way back down to the river and walked across it to the other side where Sky and Yumi were, using his ice like a small bridge. The ice remained for a moment but then dissolved into the water once Kaiden had gotten across. He looked at the two of them and let out a yawn. "Shall we head back then?"
