a character in “Ah thats my family: Life is what you make it”, as played by nightwolf

Description

Name: Ali
Age: 17
Appearance:
Image

Personality: Ali can be very half and half with people, if he knows who they are he will be very sweet and welcoming but with new people he can be very unsure about them and generally shut them out. This of course ultimately depends on how his day has gone so far. Ali is slow to react to conversations as his brain needs time to formulate and answer. He does take thing literally sometimes so is and easy target for bullies. Even though Ali doesn't talk that much he likes to be in a safe group either of friends or family, mainly family.
History: Ali was diagnosed with autism at a young age since he had not met the recommended milestones for a child his age, he would stare at things that were small and detailed things such as carpets and lampshades. It took him a while to talk to his parents and of course other siblings, he found it hard with all the changes at school with subjects changing rapidly and pressure to get work finished. He developed relationships slowly with other people in school but didn't maintain good conversation and commitments to going places. He started to write things down that happend in the day so that he could make sure that nothing changed in his routine. He does needs help with certain things but will not ask for help from anyone so he may either just stand still on the spot or hum to himself in order to calm himself down.

Other: Ali does spend most of his time alone either writing or organising his space, he collects things such as Pokemon cards, Lord of The Rings memrobillia and things that he finds interesting. He hates anything being changed, for example furniture being moved things not going the way it usually does. When upset Ali will either scream out or throw himself on he floor and pull at his hair, if someone else has upset him he will throw something or attack whoever has upset him.

So begins...

Ali walked slowly down the street his notepad and pen in one hand and his house keys in the other, he always found it easier to carry his house keys home rather than fumble around for them when he got to the door. He looked over to the bar across from the house and saw his fathers car in the usual space, it seemed he was always in the bar and it occluded him that he had never asked him why he was always in there. With all he questions that Ali asked it was odd to Ali why someone would want to spend so much time in a bar.

Checking his watch he was still pretty early to get into his afternoon routine of relaxing around the house, so he walked into the bar, his face grimicing at the loud music. Humming softly he walked to his father tapping him on the shoulder he spoke rather loudly forgetting his hands were over his ears. " Hi Dad...can I ask you something!?"

Raven leaned in to her father and hissed under her breath.

"Shhh... hush I got a good job here Devin, I don't want the boss to know that I'm related to you. Especially if you do something stupid he doesn't like." she said addressing her father by his first name. She hand never really called him daddy, dad or anything other than dead beat. So the his first name sounded awkward rolling off her tongue.

She then looked up as someone walked into the room, it was a young guy that Raven had never seen before. She could feel the yes of her boss boring into the back of her head. The kid was obviously too young to be in a bar but it was also obvious that he didn't really know any better.

" Hi Dad...can I ask you something!?"

Raven mentally face palmed it was one her father's adopted kids, she decided that she should try to carefully let this kid know, that he was too young to be in here. And that he should ask his father questions once he returned home. But then again this was Devin so he was very rarely home. She turned to the young man with a gentle smile.

"So this is your dad huh, well I'm afraid that if you're not 21 honey you're gonna have to wait to ask him something. I could really get in allot of trouble if I let you stay in here. So please if you can quickly ask him the question, and then leave that would be great and keep me out of trouble".

Ali looked to the woman as she spoke he listened carefully to what she said and took a while to reply. As he thought of his answer he looked around the bar his eyes picking out fine details such as the signs that said that under twenty owned were not allowed to buy alcohol. The bar served food so Ali was allowed to stay as long as he stayed away from the bar.

" but... I'm not going to buy any alcohol...and if...if I did you would have to ask for ID which I don't have because I'm not old enough to drink...alcohol that is...see" Ali pointed to the sign above the bar that said." No drinks served to patrons under 21 years of age"

Raven turned and looked behind her feeling a pair of eye boring into the back of her head, it was Nick the bar owner leaning on the corner of the bar just in front of his office. His burly tattooed arms resting on the counter, slicked back greasy black hair and a toothpick in his mouth.

"What the hell's going on Rave?" he said his voice slurring a little, which was either from the toothpick or the bottle of Jack he kept in his office. Raven wasn't sure and she really didn't want to find out, the kid explained that nowhere did it say that he couldn't be in the bar as long as he doesn't buy alcohol. Raven sighed the kid was right but the type of people that came into the bar were not the best people for a someone so young to be around.

She gave a weak smile to Nick, "Oh it's nothing Nick I got it under control".

Nick eyebrow rose and he looked at the kid, "Hey you little punk don't start no shit or I'll throw you and your daddy out on your ass ya got me" he then turned and went back to his office slamming the door. The vibration reverberated through the glasses on the bar, made a tinkling sound that echoed throughout the room.

Raven sighed in relief and turned back to Devin, "Listen Devin don't stay here too long my boss doesn't like kids in here" she warned and then went to go clean off another table where a man was sleeping with his head down. She proceeded to pick up glasses and trash around the guy. Pushing him up in his chair, this didn't faze the guys cause he just leaned back with drool hanging out the corner of his mouth giving a loud snort in his sleep. Raven wiped down the table and then sat the man back in his original position.

She then nudged his shoulder gently, "Hey Phil wake up, your cabs gonna be here soon".

Ali watched as the manager of the bar walked out glaring at Ali stating that he didn't want him to cause any trouble or him and dad would get thrown out. Ali never caused trouble, he didn't know how, trouble always seemed to happen around him though. Ali grimaced at the tinkling of the glasses it was a very high pitched sound in Ali's ears, he looked around the bar again his eyes focusing on the labels of the bottles it seemed some bottles of drink were more popular that others or they were cheaper in price. Looking down the bar he straightened up the coasters trying to avoid people as he did so, he did get a funny look from a man whose drink wasn't on a coaster but Ali placed it on there anyway. He heard a small " thank you" and the man turned away. He looked at Raven and spoke " are some drinks cheaper than others that's why you keep the ones that have less liquid on the top and the ones that have more colour and liquid on th bottom"

Ignoring the family party happening around him, he stood up. "Well, if thats the way you want to play Raven..." He smirked to himself. Quickly, he sswatted his beer down and raised his head to the sky. "Stupid bitch! You spilled my damn drink!" Holding back the smile, he turned around and went for the door. "Never coming back! Ali, ask me your question at home." He sighed, moving through his pocket to find the car keys.

Ali watched as his father spilt his own beer and blamed Raven for it, " dad..that's lying and that wasn't a nice thing to do" he commented as he followed his father since he said that they were going home. He didn't know why he wanted Raven to get in trouble with her boss, she seemed to like her job. He also didnt understand why his dad was looking for his keys when the house was opposite the bar, it was quicker to walk home than get in the car and buckle up. " I'll walk dad" he mumbled clicking his fingers together and walking to a safe place to cross. Crossing over the road quickly he watched and waited for his father to appear it was easier to let two people in the house and then lock the door rather than open the door and lock it and then open the door and then lock it again.
