Description

:: Puppet Master ::

Your Role-player Name :: Rae

Your View On Role-playing :: I started role playing on the Neopets website when I was in my eighth grade year. My first ever was a Harry Potter Next Generation Role Play and to this day it remains my favorite. On the NeoBoards a group of us came together and dissatisfied with the way Neopets was run created a forum of our own able to incorporate what we wished into the story. The forum lasted for about a year before it died out as members slowly became busy with their own lives and gradually forgot about the website. Three of us from the forum tried several times to jump start the role play and even creating new ones but none lasted for as long as that forum had. Shortly afterwards I took a detour from role playing for a while. I have jumped back in every now and then but I haven't been happy with any of the role plays I was a member of until around two years ago when I stumbled upon an Alice In Wonderland Next Generation Role Play. That one lasted for about a month and it was so joyous, truly a privilege to be a part of. However that one died out too, and that was when I discovered that I could not do short term role plays. For me, the development of a story, of a character, and the friendships formed while participating in a role play are the best part of it. Sure having the chance to show off my writing skills is excellent as well but I cannot truly enjoy a role play without feeling a sense of dedication from the group I am working with. If you have ever been a part of a role play like that you will understand what I am talking about, nothing compares to really having the chance to get to know your fellow writers and develop your character to a point where you don't even recognize them from when you started. That is why I wrote the guidelines and such the way I did. I believe dedication, time and effort are all essential to a wonderful role playing experience and I am still on the lookout for role play that really sets my blood on fire once again. I hope that this one will be one of those role plays for me.

Your Idea of Character Development :: Character Development is the best part of a role play. Its almost like raising a child, you have to work with others and learn how to interact on some of the most basic levels all over again. Your imagination really gets a workout as you try to think of a way to react to the situation that is unlike your own. I think research is essential for a well rounded character. Yes, much of them come straight out of your head but if your character is a professional opera singer and you don't know a thing about singing, in order to make that character feel real you have to research. Its like a fun learning tool for things you didn't know before you started. I think that its crucial for characters to grow and evolve with the story that is being formed. Since a role play is basically writing a book/story with several other people you have to practice your flexibility for situations because you could imagine the scenario one way but with input from others you may have to tweak your original idea to fit with what someone else wrote. Its quite invigorating for me, to log in and have an idea of what I want my character to do next and then have to think through and sometimes completely change it based off of the other role players posts. I could go on and on about character development for hours but I feel like I am beginning to ramble, so onto the next section!

Your Estimate on Time Commitment :: I plan to log on everyday and check in on this role play. Realistically I will probably be logged in for most of the day because I have little to no life at this point in time so I have basically a never ending amount of time to put into this role play. I understand that others have a life outside of role playing and that is truly wonderful and I am happy for them I just hope if they choose to be a part of this role play that they will give it a due amount of respect and at least log in once a day to make sure we all know they are still interested in the role play. That being said I think it is as equally important to form a sort of bond with your fellow role players as it is to post as your characters so I hope everyone is able to get to know each other in the Out of Character section, I plan to lurk through that board most of the day and hope to see many conversations ensue.

:: Puppet Basics ::

Nick Name :: Jenna
Age :: 11
Face Claim :: Hilary Duff
House :: Slytherin
Position :: Student
Bloodline :: Mixed

:: Puppet Appearance ::

Height :: 4’11”
Weight :: 107
Eyes :: Blue
Hair :: Blonde

Physical Description :: Jenna is average for her age, not especially beautiful and almost awkward in appearance. She has shoulder length blonde hair and bright blue eyes, just like her mothers. Her height and weight are average; she has little muscle tone as she is so young although she is a bit on the thin side. Her physic is almost gangly. She wears the average style; skinny jeans, converse, plain t-shirts and hoodies. Very minimal make-up, her parents don’t approve of it, but she gets away with lip-gloss whenever possible. Her eyes are the shape of almonds and bright blue in color, like the blue sky on a clear day, her face is round enough to be considered healthy and thin enough to be considered fair. Her skin is slightly tanned or stark white depending on the time of year and her blonde hair often has natural sun bleached highlights through it although she has always wanted to dye it brunette.

Identifying Factors :: Jenna has her ears pierced but that is all. She wants many more and when she is older plans on getting a tattoo, but until she is out of her parent’s house she must obey their strict rules. She has a small scar on her left knee, hardly noticeable unless she is wearing shorts and her skin is very tan, that she received from trying to skateboard a year earlier.

:: Puppet Personality ::

Quirks :: Jenna’s quirk is that she has a natural affinity for nature and swears she can hear the wind whisper to her. Of course it is most likely in her head, but she has always thought there were fairies dancing in the wind, singing to her.

Personality :: Jenna is a spunky, happy go lucky girl, always looking for a bit of adventure. She is personable and makes friends easily but has a proud streak that rivals most of her other qualities. She never admits to being wrong and never backs out of a fight. She has been known to worm her way in and out of sticky situations with small white lies that never hurt anybody. She has big dreams and ambitions that were made that much larger with the discovery that she was a witch, and not just any witch but a descendent of a pureblood wizard from England. Of course she does not pertain the same pure blood as that ancestor, although she’d be damned if she told anyone that. Her pride at having come from a “pure” ancestor has left her with an air of confidence that some find off putting but once they get past that outer shell, which is really nothing more than a load of hot air built up to protect her from critics, they may meet their very best friend in life.

Fun Facts :: Jenna loves the colors green and sliver, her ancestry can be traced back to the Malfoy family, the first bit of magic she ever did was to turn her cat into a pillow and back.

Likes :: Reading, cats, fantasy, family and cake

Dislikes :: Bullies, spiders, the color pink, clowns and mushrooms

:: Puppet History ::

Family :: Jenna lives with her mother and father, both having the ability for magic, but neither ever utilizing their talents. She also has a younger brother named Caleb whom she is extremely close to and has also shown signs of magical ability despite being four years of age. She has no living grandparents or cousins that she knows of, however her father was adopted so there is always the chance of having a cousin somewhere out in the world.

History :: Jenna lived a happy fairly normal childhood, she went to school with the rest of the children her age but always felt different, like no matter how hard she tried she could never quite fit in, and she wanted to fit in. Jenna would see all the popular girls always smiling and wished for that same life herself, thinking if she could just get to become their friends she would have it set in life. She was, of course, wrong. By the second grade, when she was eight years of age, she had become one with the popular crowd and found herself to be completely miserable. The girls were nothing but bullies, and although she would use a little blackmailing once in a while, Jenna detested bullies. Therefore, once third grade started she had cut ties with the “popular” kids and started her own group of friends. Soon they took over at the school being known for their kindness and ability to get things done.

That’s how it always seemed to be with Jenna, she had the natural ability to lead, and she used it to her advantage whenever possible. Art seemed to be her best subject in school, having the ability to turn something into another through the different mediums always came naturally to her which is why she believes she will be able to excel in transfiguration. The summer before she tuned eleven was when she did her first bit of magic, unknowingly and in a rare fit of temper she turned her cat into a throw pillow and back. The event scared her half to death and it took hours of her parents calming her down and revealing their own similar situations before she was able to grasp the scenario. Ever since then she has been trying to figure out what was real and what was myth, borrowing many volumes from the library and mostly failing.

Sample Post :: Character intro for The Way Of Water.
The wind blew silently through her hair which was, for once, loose around her the shoulders of the eldest fire princesses. Kyoko Asano, eldest daughter of the Fire Lord Asano and tasked through the years with perfecting her combat training, stood at the head of the great war ship headed toward The Great Nation. The sun was just rising over the horizon and she could see the island in the distance, the marble from the palace glinting in the first rays of sun. A sigh raked her body as she turned away from the otherwise glorious sight in front of her and looked instead at the deck of the great ship. Reduced to trading, the ancient relic was the only war ship in the fire nation still within use. It went from place to place carrying passengers and cargo within its cold steel interior. Now it was taking her to The Great Nation, to meet with her sister and the Avatar. What was her purpose in going there? Surly the Avatar didn't need a trainer in hand to hand combat; he was master of all four elements. Kyo suspected that her parents wanted her there to watch over her sister and her temper, which was far more likely. Lien, Kyo's younger sister, had one mean temper and one short fuse, much like Kyo herself. They were a pair the two of them, had been since childhood. Lien had been tasked with the charge of training the Avatar in the ways of fire bending and Kyo was very proud of her sister, she was an excellent fire bender. A shadow passed over the young girls eyes at the thought of her own bending skills which were mediocre at best; she envied her sister that one, the ability to bend fire to her will, to let out her aggression and anger in a burst of flame. Kyoko could only slash, cut, maim and bruise to let out her own aggression and as she didn't like to shed the blood of another it was usually her own blood and sweat through intense training that she found any release.

There was a couple of hours yet before the boat would reach The Great Nation, Kyo could feel the despair and anger rising in her gut at the memories of the past and cursed herself for it. Her long dark hair billowed as the wind began to pick up and, knowing it would not do, the fire princess gathered it back into a sleek ponytail on the top of her head. She shed the heavy coat she had been wearing to ward off the morning chill and stood on the mostly empty deck breathing deeply in and out. Taking a stance Kyo began her morning workout, letting all the hurt, anger and fear of what lie ahead flow out of her with each slice through the air her knives made, with every kick and punch her body threw. It was exhilarating to say the least, and the princess only wished she had another to spar against who could match her skills.
________

It seemed like no time at all before the great ship was pulling into one of the docks and Kyoko was transported back to what felt like an ancient time. It was so strange to be on the island surrounded by "the old way" of life as opposed to her heavily bustling and beloved fire nation. She grabbed her jacket from the ground where it had landed earlier and taking a deep breath made her way off of the ship where she was greeted by a servant of The Great Nation. He took her name and other information and asked, in a way that servants do, if there was anything else she would require. Kyo responded that a hot bath would be nice, as well as an agenda for the week and the servant said he would get on the agenda right away and to please follow him to her "quarters". She scoffed at the use of his formal language and with a roll of her eyes thought this may be a much more enjoyable waste of her time than she originally led herself to believe.

They made their way through the forest and into The Great Nation without further delay and Kyo wondered at the beauty of the forest, palace, and island in general. Her room was magnificently large with her own washroom and large closet, a waste of space in her opinion but pretty none-the-less. The decor was that of her homeland and it did wonders for her soul to feel surrounded by that which she knew. She left the door to her room open so that the servants could bring her luggage and training equipment in and made her way into her private washroom, closed and locked the door, and proceeded to take a hot, and much needed, shower. When she emerged from the room her sleeping area was filled with the boxes and luggage that she had brought with her and she smiled at the agenda placed on top of the desk. She gave it a quick once over and grimaced, first thing in the morning was the Avatars induction to the council and she was required to be in the meeting hall. At least she would be able to see her sister. The sun was setting outside, the day had passed much quicker than she had thought it would and munching on the dinner that was left in her chambers Kyo flopped onto the soft silky bed. "I could get use to this" she thought and fell asleep in almost no time at all.
________

Morning came all too soon and Kyo rose, before the sun and other inhabitants of the palace, to get in an hours’ worth of training before the official ceremonies took place. In no time at all she was finished with her workout, showered, dressed in her court attire, and ready to head to The Great Hall. The court attire was stiff and uncomfortable, tight around her neck and arms, entirely too warm and made up in the colors of the different nations. A horrid combination to wear together she thought to herself and clenched her teeth as she walked to the center of the palace. Her sister was already seated in one of the two seats reserved for them and Kyo made her way over a smile on her face. She gave her sister a warm hug and sat next to her, conversing about all the things they had missed since they last saw each other and happily laughing. She heard the banging of the door of The Great Hall sound and turned her head toward the source, there stood the Avatar, her expression lost all trace of a smile and her eyes stared at him intently, a feeling of anticipation running through her body. "This should be interesting," She said under her breath as the entire hall slowly silenced, all eyes turning on the Avatar.

The day started out like any other. Jenna rolled out of bed as the ray of sunlight hit her face and groggily started about her morning routine. Shower, dress, stare at the computer for an hour before finally heading downstairs to eat breakfast. Her blonde hair was pulled up in spiky buns on top of her head this morning and she wore her favorite orange Tye dye shirt. A pair of jeans and black converse finished off her attire nicely and Jenna nodded at the completed look in the mirror before skipping downstairs. She had a good feeling about this morning, something big was going to happen today, she was sure of it. Her father greeted her from behind his morning paper and her mother placed her breakfast in front of her. Today's meal was ham eggs and waffles. Jenna hungrily ate her food and asked to be excused. She was meeting her best friend today to explore the area in the woods behind the school and she was eager to get started. Her parents excused her and Jenna stood up almost running to the door when the bell clanged. Her mother asked who it was so Jenna answered it, curious herself to who would be calling at ten a.m. To her surprise she opened the door and saw a woman dressed in vibrant orange robes with shockingly green painted fingernails and broomstick earrings.

"Hello, my name is Holly, are your parents in?" the woman asked a smile plastered across her face.
Jenna nodded her head and shouted "Mom, dad, its for you! I'm heading out." before turning back to Holly and smiling. "They will be here in just a moment. Would you like to come inside? I have someplace to be so if you will just excuse me...."
Holly smiled at her and shook her head. "I need to speak to both you and your parents Jennifer." The woman held out a parchment envelope with Jenna's name on it. "This is for you, I am a teacher at your new school."

Jenna was quite taken aback. She didn't know her parents had enrolled her in a new school, and since when did teachers make house calls? She hesitantly took the envelop and opened it, reading the contents that followed. Soon her mother and father were next to her, reading over her shoulder and their mouths dropped open. All of them had thought they had magical abilities, but they had no idea there would be a school that taught one how to control it. The stared at the woman at the door for several moments before the reality of the situation set in.

"Won't you please come in," Jenna's mother said, being the first to recover from the shock and pushing her husband and daughter aside so Holly would be able to walk in.
"Thank you, as I told your daughter my name is Holly, I am a teacher at Hogwarts USA and I am here to explain everything to you and answer any questions you may have." The woman strode through the door, her broom stick earrings tingling like little bells. And following Jenna's father the group made their way to the living room where Caleb was playing quietly with blocks on the floor. Well, levitating the blocks was more like and seeing his abilities Holly said "I see you have a very talented family. My being here must make some sort of sense to you. I have to say this isn't the first house I have visited and you are the only family so far that has any clue about magic."
"Yes, we... er.... had an idea that is. My wife and I have always been able to do extra ordinary things and as you can see our children inherited our gifts, we had no idea there was a school that taught about it though...." His voice slowly faded out as Jenna's father took a seat opposite Holly on the families love seat, his wife sat next to him and Jenna sat on his lap.
"Yes well, there wasn't before now, at least not in the United States, Europe has had a school for several centuries called Hogwarts where many generations of witches and wizards have learned to control their abilities."

Holly spent the next hour explaining Hogwarts USA, the cruise ship that would take Jenna to the school and answered all the families questions. She left through the fireplace with a powder known as "Floo" and was gone through the flames in no time. "This is so cool!" Jenna squealed and completely forgetting about her previous engagement ran upstairs to pack her bags.

__________

Soon the day arrived and Jenna stood looking up at the huge white ship that was to take her to Hogwarts USA. She hadn't been able to sleep the night before, she had been so excited about the fact that she would be traveling to New York and taking a ship ride for the first time in her life. Hugging her mother, father and brother she checked her baggage at the appropriate point and boarded with a large number of other students. She saw Holly on the deck and made her way over to her smiling. Holly gave Jenna her room number and a introduction packet and Jenna made her way down the inside hallway to a small suite. She was to share the room with two other girls and it was quite an extraordinary room. She was the first one to arrive so she went to the bedroom with her name on it, unpacked her suitcase... she was going to be here for three nights so why not unpack? And quickly made her way back to the top of the deck. There were tons of students walking around, some were talking to each other and others were glaring at each other. Everyone seemed a bit uneasy about the entire situation and Jenna wondered if any of them had known about magic before being accepted into the school.

She made her way over to the railing and waved at her parents as the boat took off, she was going to miss her father, mother and brother a lot but had been assured owls would be available to send back and forth. She also had her computer to work with, although Holly had said something about electronics not always working around magic she hoped to find a way to make it work. Once her parents were out of sight, Jenna made her way to the pool and sat down in one of the empty chairs starring around her at wide variety of people aboard the ship and wondering what sort of friends she would make and what her life would be like now that she had magic.

A sun ray came through the dark curtains and was placed on the face of a rather paled skin boy. And as it did, the boy started to wake up slowly. He opened his eyes and sat up, slowly looking around, blinking a few times, then coming from his bed. He walked towards the small mirror in his room and made a face when he saw himself, all covered in dirt. He went to the bathroom and got the showers on, first a shower, then breakfast, then working on the land, like usual. Everything seemed normal and it seemed like the day would unfold itself as usual. He took the shower, just a few minutes, then dried himself, dressed and went downstairs for breakfast. His grandparents greeted him happily as his grandmother was baking eggs and his grandfather was reading the newspaper, like usual. He smiled and sat down across the table from his grandfather and waited patiently for breakfast. When the plate was finally set down, he took a fork and started eating his eggs, beans and bread hungrily. After they finished eating breakfast, Scinate went to the sink and cleaned the plates so his grandmother wouldn't have to do that. She just smiled proudly and ruffled through his hair before patting him on the head. He smiled and kissed her cheek before looking at grandfather. ''Ready?'' he asked him. His grandfather nodded and they went outside.

Scinate was to do the dogs. He looked at the scar on his right hand and then went to the dogs who were still sleeping. Scinate opened the cages as he was holding the bag of dog food. He filled each bowl with dog food and the other bowl with water. Each dog had two bowls, one for food and the other for water. The oldest dog, a German Shepard, woke up and greeted him with a lick. He smiled and patted the dog. He then patted the other dogs as they woke up too and all greeted him. He left the cages after that to work on the land with his grandfather.

As an hour passed, they stopped, hearing grandmother call. They looked at each other and went back inside, cleaning the shoes just before they went inside, not wanting to dirty the house. They sat down in the kitchen and found a strange woman walking in. They looked at each other hesitantly as the woman took place on a chair and smiled at them.
''Hello. My name is Sariet.'' She looked at Scinate. He looked at her and nodded silently, waiting for his grandparents to answer her. His grandmother did, ''Hello. I am Betty and this is my husband Bert,'' she said, pointing at Bert before continuing, ''and this is Scinate. He is our grandson.'' The woman named Sariet nodded. ''I already knew who Scinate was,'' she said as she handed over a piece of parchment with his name on it. Betty took it and started reading it out loud, soon, they were silent.
Scinate looked at the woman, not knowing why she would think he could do magic. He was just an ordinary boy that worked on the lands with his grandfather and did some karate. He didn't go to school because they couldn't pay for that so his grandmother and grandfather taught him. ''But, I can't do any magic..'' he said softly, looking at his grandparents, then remembering the bird that he turned into a frog.
''Yes you can. You turned a bird into a frog once, remember. That was magic my dear boy.'' They sat there the whole morning as it was all explained, Scinate just not believing his ears. Then the woman left, and Scinate was silent for the rest of the day that followed, thinking about it.

________________________

Soon the day arrived and Scinate woke up early, as usual. He had no idea if his grandparents would be alright with him leaving and he had asked them a thousand times, they just nodded and smiled, not saying a word at all. He opened his eyes and looked around. He was going to miss his room, and the animals. He quickly went downstairs and ate his breakfast before checking on the animals. First the dogs, kissing each and everyone one of them goodbye. Then the horses, doing the same with them. He smiled, seeing the foal of yesterday, already standing. He kissed the foal and the mother. He stroke her gently and smiled sadly. He then went to the cows and leaded them to the place where they could eat. He went back inside and got his luggage. Then, with his grandparents went away.

They arrived early and Scinate was surprised by the big ship. He looked at his grandparents and a few tears appeared in his eyes. He hugged them and kissed them goodbye and went aboard. He went to the woman who gave room numbers and took his number before putting all his stuff in his room and going back to the rail. He waved them goodbye before turning around and looking at the rest. He saw a girl - Jenna - and cocked his head. She seemed happy, he seemed sad. He sighed and went to search for a place of his own, letting it sink in once more that he would be gone for so long. He already missed his grandparents but he had to see the bright side, maybe this was his chance to discover who he really was. He sat down on a bench somewhere and took out a small book, started reading it in silence. He always enjoyed reading book, and it made him calm. He could forget about his grandparents and find out who he was. Maybe he was some powerful wizard, or just a wizard. Whatever he was, this could be a great chance for him, to make some new friends, learn some new things and eventually go home again to tell his grandparents about all this and show them what he had learned there.

Jenna didn't sit by the pool for very long, she was bouncing and anxious, wondering whether there would be any festivities on the ship along the way. There were so many students milling around on deck, they all looked normal enough but if they were here it meant that they all had powers of some sort, that they all were wizards and witches. She remembered her room and the fact that she must have roommates somewhere and made her way back to her temporary room. When she opened the door to the common area she saw that it was still void of roommates and sighed to herself. Whoever they were they must still be up on the deck. The common room area was decorated quite nicely in rich fabrics and comfortable seating. There was no electricity as far as Jenna could see, and she remembered Holly saying that muggle toys didn't work in the magical community. Jenna frowned, she wouldn't be able to use her cell phone and that disappointed her greatly. How would she be able to keep in touch with her friends?

She wondered into her room and looked around at the four poster bed, warm looking sheets and bedding and thought about taking a nap but quickly decided against it when she saw a pamphlet on the dresser full of activities and itineraries. She hungrily read through the booklet and decided to head back onto the main deck until supper time. It said that the "sorting ceremony" would take place at dinner on the final evening and until that time the students should intermingle as much as possible with one another because it didn't matter what house you were sorted into, so long as you grew in your character and abilities while at the school. She pondered over this statement as she was greeted again by the sunlight on deck. She had heard a little bit about Hogwarts from the diary of an old ancestor her mother had stumbled across up in the attic. There were four houses Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, and Gryfindoor. Each one looked for certain traits in prospective students to place in houses. She wondered which one she would be in, and from the descriptions hoped vaguely for Slytherin although Gryfindoor wouldn't be too bad either. Whichever house would help her get further ahead was the one she wanted. Now that she knew of her "Magical" abilities she had big plans for her future. Very big plans. The first order of business however was to make some new friends. Her muggle friends were great and all, but they were muggles. They would never be able to understand magic or the responsibilities involved in having it so she needed to find magical friends. Even if they were in different houses through the school years she needed to make connections and fast. As her father always told her, connections are the way little people made it to big places.

Jenna glanced around the deck, there were so many people to choose from it was hard to begin. She saw a group of students by the pool where she had been earlier so she thought that would be the place to start. They were all whispering amongst themselves excitedly and Jenna could tell in a glance that several of them had known each other for a good number of years. Maybe they weren't the best place to start. It would be hard to establish herself in an already established bond of friendship. She veered to her left and made her way to the railing where a group of girls were talking and giggling like mad. She was close enough to catch the tail end of their conversation and shuddered in disgust as she herd the name "Justin Beiber". Definitely not the group she wanted to involve herself in. Not that there was anything wrong with him as a person she supposed but his music just was not her style. Soon enough Jenna stood on her own in a vast sea of people. She had never had this much trouble forming friendships in the past. Perhaps she was just being overcautious, she thought to herself, not wanting to form the wrong alliance and screw over her future career. Jenna caught a person sitting on a bench by themselves and made her way over. It was a boy her age reading a book of some sort. She walked up over to him and tried to see what book he was reading. "Hello" she said in a sing song voice, wondering how to approach him. "Um, do you mind if I sit here?" she asked indicating to the empty spot on the bench next to him. The boy seemed to be quiet and reserved, maybe its just because he was wrapped up in the book, or maybe she was just judging before she really got to know him. Both were quite possible as it was what happened to her quite often, judging someone before they had a chance to show their true colors. She knew she would have to work on that in the future and smiled as she sat down when the boy nodded his head. Well, this was awkward. She thought to herself and sat in the uncomfortable silence glancing around the deck and wishing at least one of her friends had also been born with magical abilities.

Scinate was reading the book, and had already reached the second half, till he heard a voice. He looked up from the book to look at Jenna. He smiled and nodded silently, of course she could sit down, why couldn't she? He didn't mind her sitting down there, or anywhere for that part. As long as she was nice, which she seemed, she could even sit down on his lap, though that would be quite awkward. He closed the book and looked at her, it was that girl from earlier. He smiled friendly, staying silent, pondering what to say to her, just a 'hello' seemed enough though. ''Hello. Sure, you can sit there, I don't mind,'' he said friendly, making a bit place. The boy looked at his cloths and then at hers, they looked so much better. Where he had just a T-shirt that was partly ripped and a short jeans that was also partly ripped, she seemed to have enough cloths that weren't like his. Probably from a bit of a more rich family, instead of one that worked on the land like he did. He sighed and looked away, being ashamed a bit of his cloths. But, maybe she didn't care, he didn't know. He just hoped she wouldn't really care.

He smiled, looking back at her. He had never seen people which such nice cloths, or any of this anyway. He was just used to a small house, and working on the land, not this. It seemed so fancy, and although he knew manners and had manners, he wasn't sure if the woman had been right. Maybe it was just an accident, that he turned the bird into a frog. Maybe he didn't know any magic, was just a normal Muggle child, but maybe he was a powerful wizard, and would find that out here. He wasn't sure of it though, he didn't seem magical at all. He just seemed a normal boy that didn't belong here between all those children who had all those fancy cloths and he only cloths he worked on the lands with. He heard his grandmother in his head as he thought back to what she said. ''Are you sure you don't want any new cloths? Further in town is a small shop you know, we can always look there for some new pair of jeans and a few T-shirts. Don't worry about the money, that will be fine,'' his grandmother had said with a smile. Scinate had just shook his head. He smiled at that thought, his grandparents had been sad the few days before leaving, they even cried a few times. He actually had wanted to stay but they had said no and wanted him to go. He missed them.

He looked back at Jenna, wondering what she was thinking about. Maybe she was glad to be away from home, to make some new friends. Maybe she had already known that she was magical and that she could use spells and such. He had never known, he was just a normal Muggle child. ''So...'' he said, looking at her. ''I am Scinate,'' he said, scratching the back of his head. ''Uhm... Who are you?'' he asked softly, not knowing what else to say, feeling a bit homesick too. He had never been away from his home, and never so far away or so long. He had never thought he needed to leave him family. He had always thought he would help them with the land until they would have passed away and than continue working on the land. Continue to work the lands like he had always done. Even though he would be working alone from than on. He always hoped it would be that way, that he didn't have to leave his family, or his animals. He had named each and every cow, horse and dog and he loved them with his whole heart. He had never thought he had to miss them, and especially not for so long. He sighed and shook his head, losing his thoughts of home.

But, maybe this was a great chance to make some friends. This was his first school he was attending to, so he could make some new friends he could write when he was back home again. And, maybe she was his first friend. Maybe she turned out to be his first friend, and maybe she could tell him a bit about this. He had never heard of magic, or schools for magic. He had never thought it actually existed, but with the magic, there must also be magical creatures. He had heard about such creatures, just never thought they'd actually existed. It all seemed to go so fast, and he hardly knew anything, or knew what to do. 'What if this is indeed all real? Would those fairy tails be true too, or those stories about Vampires and werewolves? No, that's impossible right?' he asked himself, thinking about it. Maybe it was true though, every single bit of it, and he would discover it soon enough, with the lessons on the school. He was also curious about the Sorting Hat. He had never heard of a hat thinking on its own and choosing on his own. It seemed to strange, how a hat could think on its own and making a decision on its own, it just seemed impossible. How could a hat think on its own and decide on its own?

He sighed, shaking his head again, losing the questions. He would wonder about them later and than see what to do. He looked back at Jenna, waiting silently for what she had to say. He was curious about her name, and where she came from with all those fancy cloths she had. Maybe she lived in some big city, that was probably, he didn't see her living somewhere far away from a city, she didn't seem to. She seemed just that girl that lived in the big city and had always a lot of people around her. He smiled, waiting.

The boy said she could sit and Jenna smiled a small smile. He observed her for a bit, a frown forming on his face and she wondered what he could be thinking. "So..." he began with a short silence following. "I am Scinate, uhm... who are you?" His voice was soft and it had a ting of sadness to it. She wondered if he was thinking about his family or if indeed he had ever been away from them before. She herself had traveled a bit, granted one of her family members had always been with her but she didn't feel like she missed them to much. She knew they were just a phone call.... well, owl away if she needed to talk to them about anything. She mused about the fact she had to communicate by owls and inwardly sighed. The magical community was so primitive compared to the muggle one. If only her cell phone or laptop would work it would be amazing, but they didn't. Her friends were going to think she hated them.

Remembering Scinate had asked her name she looked up at him and gave a big smile as she said "My name is Jennifer, but you can call me Jenna." He wore hand me down clothing it seemed, ratty jeans and a faded t-shirt. Her clothing was still in excellent shape. It wasn't that her family was rich so much as well off. They always had a little bit of extra cash lying around for fun little things or a trip. She was wearing her orange Tye dye t-shirt again along with a pair of skinny jeans and an orange pair of converse. Her hair was in spiky bun/pony's on top of her head and she was wearing a stretchy choker. She examined the chipped paint on her nails and made a mental note to re-do them to an orange or pink shade later, depending on her mood this evening.

"So, have you been to your room yet?" She asked, curious as to what the boys quarters were like or if he had met any of his roommates. "I have been to mine twice but no roommates have shown up yet. I wish they would though, ya know? I would really love to meet them. Did you know you could do magic? It was a shock for me, well sorta, my parents just thought we were extremely talented Wiccan's. My little brother can do magic too. Did a witch or wizard visit your house? We had a witch named Holly, she was passing out room assignments earlier. I really like her, but then again she was wearing my favorite color when we first met." Jenna took a deep breath trailing off. Wow, she just talked a lot, like way to much. This boy was going to think she was crazy if she didn't real herself in. She was curious about him though, who he was and what his family and home life was like. She pegged him as a country boy almost immediately. He had the look of someone who did actual work. She had never really been to the country, she just lived in a small town in a nice house by the woods but it wasn't country. Jenna looked at her shoes and moved them back and forth for a while before looking up again and smiling. Maybe Scinate and her would be friends, maybe not. Who knew what the future would hold. She wondered if he would answer her questions or if she had scared him away with all her babbling. Oh well, only one way to find out and that was to wait patiently for his answer. So she waited looking everywhere but at him except for occasional glances his way.

Scinate watched her again, and smiled when she told him her name. 'Jennifer or Jenna sounds nice.' He smiled at her name. "So, have you been to your room yet?" she asked and when he was just about to answer, she started talking again. I really like her, but then again she was wearing my favorite color when we first met." He smiled at her talking, atleast she didn't seem to be sad and she did seem to know quite a bit about the magical world.

''Yes, I've been to my room but no one was there,'' he said, thinking about her questions. ''I never knew I could do magic. I am just a farm boy really. I lived with my grandparents on a farm. I don't really know my parents and if they could do magic. I've always been just a simple farm boy, working on the lands with my grandparents,'' he said, thinking back if he could remember his parents. He couldn't, he had just no idea who they were, he had always lived with his grandparents. He thought back at another question. ''Did a witch or wizard visit your house?'' He thought about that and nodded. ''Yes, atleast, I think she was a witch, I am not sure though but I guess she was. It was a total shock to me that I could do magic. I had turned a bird into a frog but I thought that was just some weird dream or accident. I never thought it was actual magic I did.'' He looked at her and smiled.

He looked at his book and noticed it had fallen. He picked it up and looked at the page that was open, it was about dogs. He smiled, a bit sadly, as he remembered his own dogs, especially the really old one, he hoped she would be alright. She was an old dog and had been a bit sick lately so he worried about her a lot. And than the horse with the new foal, he hoped they would be alright too and that nothing would go wrong, like that the foal would get sick. He absolutely didn't want anything happening to them. And than his grandparents, he hoped they would be alright too. They seemed sad when he stepped on the big ship and he could understand that, he was sad too about leaving. He never thought he would leave them for this. But, they had wanted him to go so badly, he just couldn't say no to them.

''I guess your somewhere from a town, atleast it seems like that,'' he said, smiling at her as he looked at her. He closed the book and looked back at her. ''Looks pretty such cloths. I only have torn cloths really, from working on the land and caring for the animals and such. I hope the old dog will be alright, she was sick lately, but she is an old dog so...'' Scinate trailed off and looked down, hoping she wouldn't die when he was gone. He wanted to say goodbye to her if she would leave, not visit her grave without saying goodbye. He shook his head.

''Oh, and the mare of course, with her foal. I hope they'll be alright, but I think they will,'' he said, looking back at her. ''And than the cows, I hope my grandfather will be alright with doing that all alone, he's quite old you know. They seemed so sad when I stepped onto the ship,'' he said softly, looking down at the book. He sighed and smiled faintly at Jenna. She seemed nice though, kind, he wasn't sure but she seemed that way, maybe she would be his friends, his first friend, and he hoped so. Than he would have a friend for the first thing in her life.

"I turned my cat into a pillow." Jenna said grinning from ear to ear as Scinate told her about his first experience with magic. They were fairly similar the two, although they came from different backgrounds. His book fell to the ground he picked it then started talking about his grandparents and dogs and a foul. Jenna had never been good with any animals except her cat so she wasn't able to relate easily to what he was saying. Especially the part about his grandparents seeming so sad when he had stepped on the boat. Jenna's parents had been happy for her and even though they may have been a little upset their faces hadn't showed it as they smiled and waved at her as the boats pulled away from the shore. "It sounds like you really love your family." Jenna said giving the boy a pat on the back. "I tell you what, I don't know anybody on board, and I don't think you know anyone either so lets say friends?" She stood up and stretched giving Scinate a smile, a bell sounded through the ship that signaled an hour before dinner. Thank goodness, Jenna was starving. She glanced up at the sky and saw grey swirling clouds amongst the setting sun. It painted a beautiful picture. "I'm gonna head to my room to get ready for dinner and see if I can catch my roommates," Jenna said turning back to the boy in front of her "I will see you at dinner ok, save me a seat if they aren't assigned? Or if I am there first I will save one for you." and with a small wave of her hand she was skipping off to her room below deck.

She found her door, pulled out her key, and stepped inside. There were two girls occupying the room, one wearing all pink fluffy frilly clothing and the other in jeans and a turtleneck sweater. The one in pink had long golden blonde hair curled perfectly around her face and held back from her eyes by a strand of ribbon. Jenna decided immediately she did not care for her. The one in the turtleneck had dark skin, black hair and glasses. She reminded Jenna of the geeky girls from television. The girl who looked geeky stood up from the couch she was sitting on and gave Jenna a small wave which Jenna returned by nodding her head. The girl in pink just looked at her, took in the orange tye dye and converse, popped her bubblegum and returned to reading her magazine. Jenna really did not like her.

"Don't mind Ivy" the girl in the sweater said stepping a little closer. "My name is Fern, Fern Sterling. It's nice to meet you Jenna. Sorry I read your name tag on the door and figured since Ivy was already here that you must be Jenna." The girl fidgeted where she stood and started picking the nail polish off her short nails.

"Nice to meet you Fern, and it's no problem I don't mind." Jenna smiled back and joined Fern on the couch. The two talked for a while about different things, they had quite a bit in common, both having younger siblings although Fern had a sister named Willow. Fern had known a little bit about the magical community because she had a cousin who lived in England and attended the Hogwarts school there. All too soon the dinner bell chimed and Jenna stood up with Ivy and Fern and together they walked to the dining hall following the large crowd of girls.

The dining hall was quite grand and had tons of small circular tables that seated a total of ten students each. Jenna and Fern sat at a table in the center followed unfortunately by Ivy who crossed her arms haughtily. It was clear she hadn't made any friends yet. Scinate hadn't entered the hall yet so Jenna talked animatedly with Fern looking around for him the entire time, finally he entered and Jenna waved him over, smiling and pointing to the empty seat beside her. It was clear that the "teachers" sitting at a long table at the front wanted to give a speech about something during the evening and Jenna waited with anticipation for it to start. Wondering just what else would be revealed about this new and magical world.

"I turned my cat into a pillow." He smiled and thought about his frog, than looked back at her and laughed a bit, that seemed quite funny, to turn a cat into a pillow. He looked at her and smiled. "It sounds like you really love your family." He nodded and smiled. "I tell you what, I don't know anybody on board, and I don't think you know anyone either so lets say friends?" He looked at her and smiled shily. ''Sure,'' he said softly, nodding with a smile at her. ''Thank you... You are my first friend,'' he said and smiled happily. Than he heard the bell ring and his stomach growled hungrily. He looked at Jenna as she said, "I'm gonna head to my room to get ready for dinner and see if I can catch my roommates," Jenna said turning back to the boy in front of her "I will see you at dinner ok, save me a seat if they aren't assigned? Or if I am there first I will save one for you." Scinate nodded and as Jenna left, he left too to find his own room and see if his roommates were there. He hoped so, maybe he could make some more friends then, that seemed nice, to have atleast one or two more friends. He hoped he could meet his roommates, maybe they knew more about the Magical World.

He looked at the doors, trying to find the one where he needed to be. It took him quite a while, he wasn't used to such a big places, he only knew small places really. When he found his room, he laid his hand on the doorknop and turned it slowly, than opened the door and silently peeked in. He saw one boy, and another boy as he opened the door further. He smiled slightly at them and walked in, closed the door behind him and sat on his bed. One boy seemed awfully spoiled, he seemed to have everything he wanted and yet he seemed to want more. The other was a fat boy, who also seemed awfully spoiled and only seemed to care for eating. He was eating something, though Scinate couldn't make what it was for it seemed to look disgusting. The skinny boy waved at him, Scinate nodded silently. ''So, who are you? Are you Scinate?'' the fat boy asked. Scinate nodded silently. ''You don't seem to have money, are you a farm boy?'' the rich boy asked. Scinate nodded again and felt slightly uncomfortable with them and all their questions. The two boys started laughing at him and Scinate narrowed his eyes, staying calm with some breathing techniques. They could do whatever they wanted, he wasn't going to let them ruin his year at his first ever school.

Scinate found a blouse, it looked quite nice, and a bit of a nicer pants and got them on so he would look a bit more normall and wouldn't look like the boy with no money at all. He laid his book on the shelf above him and went out the room, feeling more hungry then ever. He had no idea what he would get for dinner, but he didn't expect much, he didn't get much at his house anyway, so why here? Well, this does seem to be for quite a lot of people a luxury so maybe they did have quite a lot of food, he wasn't sure though.

He heard the two boys of his room following him and turned around to look at him. ''What is it that you want?'' he asked politely, looking at the two boys who smirked. He narrowed his eyes as the fat boy offered him a bar of something. ''You must be hungry with such a poor family,'' he said and laughed a bit. The other boy nodded and offered him some bread but Scinate shook his head and looked at them. ''I may not be as rich and spoiled as you, but I, atleast, know what I want and know what I have to do. I atleast know how to work without any magic,'' he said and turned around again, then walked away from them.

The fat boy growled irritated and grabbed the shoulder of Scinate. Scinate stopped, grabbed the hand and removed it, not wanting to make the blouse he had dirty. The rich boy grabbed the sleeve of the blouse and yanked Scinate back. Scinate sighed and moved his hand, then quickly seemed to smash the hand of the rich boy away. ''Goodbye,'' he said and left, heading for the dining hall after the boys had slowed him down, Jenna must be wondering where he was right now, maybe she was holding a spot for him empty and he was only making her wait longer and longer. He noticed the rich and the fat boy and already torn the blouse a bit and sighed, but left on his way to the dining room.

He finally entered and looked around for where Jenna was. He saw her with some other girls but smiled as he saw the empty spot beside her. He made his way towards her and sat down on the empty spot, looking at the other girls with a polite smile before looking at Jenna, feeling a bit ashamed of his torn cloths he had. He sighed and looked at her with a faint smile as he explained whispering what had happened between him and his roommates.

After explaining, he looked at the other girls and than at the long table with the ''teachers'' and became completely silent, waiting for whatever they had to say, making himself ready for quite some information and shocks he might get. He wasn't surprised quickly but now, after he had heard he was a wizzard, he had been in for quite some shocks and he knew he would be more shocked probably after dinner, for what he as about to hear would change his whole life, and had already changed his whole life completely.

It took little time for Scinate to find Jenna and join her at the table. He told her about his encounter with his roommates and she frowned. It was unfortunate that he had so much trouble with his roommates and they hadn't even made it past the first evening. Soon the entire room quieted and everyone looked up expectantly at the long table at the front of the dining hall. Holly, the witch who had came to Jenna's house stood up at a pedestal and cleared her throat.

"Welcome boys and girls to the cruise ship Hogwarts Express USA designated to take you to your new school. As you all know it will take three days to reach the island the school is located at and during that time you have your rooms and roommates that you are assigned to. On your third and final night, right before we reach the school, you will be sorted into your representative houses. There are four houses, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Gryfindoor, and Slytherin. Each one looks for particular traits in students. Based off your ages you have been assigned a "year" although since it is many of your first experiences with magic you will all be starting at the same level. The higher your year the more intensive your classes will be so you will catch up to the level of proficiency you should be at had you been born in a country that had a school for magic established already."

Holly paused and looked at all the students, a wide smile stretched across her face. Today she wore a bright orange flowing top and a pair of bell bottom jeans. Her clothing appeared to be taken directly from the sixties and Jenna held back the urge she had to giggle. All the witches and wizards it seemed didn't wear the proper clothing for the century. The hippie witch took a deep breath and continued her speech.

"My name is Holly, and I have met many of you already when I came to your house with your acceptance letter. Also, you may have noticed me today handing out welcoming packets on the above deck. I am the headmistress of the school and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask me. I would be more than happy to answer them along with the rest of your professors here at Hogwarts USA."

She went into a brief history on the school Hogwarts in England, its long history and how it was founded. Along with how witches and wizards had lived in hiding for centuries. She mentioned that further history would be taught in a designated class and that she didn't want to ruin too much of the fun. Then she moved to the agenda the ship held for the passengers. Breakfast lunch and dinner times, workshops and the like, just things the students could participate in to get a better feel for magic and their abilities that before may have been unknown to them. Jenna listened carefully to everything that Holly said, smiling and nodding her head. Then Holly finished and raised her hands saying "Now, without further ado, we eat!" and food appeared on all the tables magically. It was wonderful, there was so much to choose from, chicken and hot dogs and burgers and steaks and everything good. Potatoes and carrots and apples and oranges and rice and so many options. Jenna clapped her hands together and began to dish up. She started with a piece of barbequed chicken breast a couple scoops of potatoes and gravy, and piled on the vegetables. Once her plate was full she turned to Scinate and introduced him again to her roommates, repeated how sorry she was about his experience with his roommates and asked him what exactly happened in full detail and to point out who the perpetrators were. "Do you think you could maybe change rooms or something?" She wondered out loud "I can't imagine them forcing you to share a room with bullies." She ate between times of talking and wondered if the entire school consisted of overly privileged children and how to best use their natures to her advantage.

Scinate looked at Jenna before turning his head to listen to the witch. He stared at her cloths for a moment before settling his eyes down on the table and listening silently at what the witch had to say.

The higher your year the more intensive your classes will be so you will catch up to the level of proficiency you should be at had you been born in a country that had a school for magic established already."

He looked up again as she smiled at them with a wide smile. He didn't really smile, but didn't show any other emotions either, just waited for the witch to continue.

He printed her name into his head and looked back at the table. Than he listened to the brief history of the school in England and frowned a bit. He had heard about that school before, just never knew it was a school for witches and wizards, always assumed it was a school for normal children, well, with some money atleast, just like this one. All the children here seemed to have some money, some a lot, some less but all more then he would ever have in his entire life. It didn't really bother him though, he was happy with his life and how it was going. He had never had a real family and was glad his grandparents were always there for him. And he missed them terribly, but he wouldn't show it, just would think about them and hope for the best that they were alright.

The witch continued with activities and other things. She told about the roommates and such, she told everything they needed to know. So much to remember, he wasn't sure about it. He'd never been to school before, and this was his first one, so he really wondered if he could handle it. He hoped so, and he would do his best for it, but he had little expiernce with all this. He sighed softly before looking back at the witch.

"Now, without further ado, we eat!" He looked at the table as food appeared and his eyes widend, his mouth was open as he couldn't believe it. Food didn't just appear on tables! He looked back at Holly, his mouth now shut and but his eyes just as amazed. He looked back at the table and then at the rest who didn't really seem to be surprised about the fact that food just appeared randomly on the tables. Maybe he shouldn't worry that much.

He watched Jenna eat with a smile before she questioned about the bullies, his roommates and the story in full detail. He sighed and looked at the food, taking just a piece of chicken and laid it on his plate. He nodded silently at her roommates as she introduced him again before closing his eyes and thinking back at the bullies.

''First of all, when I walked in, I saw a rich, skinny boy, and a rich fat boy, who was eating something that looked disgusting,'' he started, thinking back, before continuing, ''they asked who I was and asked if I was Scinate so I nodded. Then they asked if I had money before they started laughing.'' He opened his eyes and looked at Jenna who was eating. He closed his eyes again. ''They offered me food but I shook my head. I told them that I wasn't rich but atleast knew how to work. They got irritated and the fat boy took my shoulder. I removed his hand. Then the rich one took my sleeve and yanked me back, tearing the blouse. I left them after that and came here,'' he said, opening his eyes again and looking at Jenna. He took a bite of his chicken and it just tasted delicious. He ate it within matter of seconds, so hungry he was. He then cleaned his mouth and looked around the hall, trying to see if he could find the boys, only to be met by four eyes of his roommates. He looked back at Jenna and pointed at the two boys. ''I have no idea what their names are, but I'm not interested in that either,'' he said.

"Do you think you could maybe change rooms or something? I can't imagine them forcing you to share a room with bullies." Scinate thought about that and turned his head to look at the witch who had spoen earlier, but he would be too shy to ask. He looked back at Jenna and took some vegetables. ''I guess I can change rooms, but as I see, I'm the poorest I think. I think it wouldn't really matter, that they would bully me anyway. It doesn't really matter, Karate can always help me out if it really goes wrong. I'm just too shy to ask for an exchange of rooms really,'' he said honestly, taking a spoon and eating the vegetables. He smiled, feeling his hunger slowly going away. This was really nice, though he had to be carefull. If he would eat too much, his stomach would get upset and he would get ill, so he took another chickenbreast. He ate it and then stopped, deciding it would be enough and that he didn't want to get ill on his first day already. ''The food surely tasts nice. I've never had much food and it came really shocking that is just appeared,'' he said softly, watching her eat silently. ''I've never seen so much food...''

"Wow" Jenna said staring long and hard at Scinate when he had finished his story. "You have had a really rough day!" She picked a little bit more at her food and saw how Scinate only took a little even though there was plenty to be had.

''I guess I can change rooms, but as I see, I'm the poorest I think. I think it wouldn't really matter, that they would bully me anyway. It doesn't really matter, Karate can always help me out if it really goes wrong. I'm just too shy to ask for an exchange of rooms really,'' Scinate said as he picked at his small serving.

"You know, I don't think you should really be all that much concerned with money. I mean look at everyone here, some people look really well off but maybe they have had terrible childhoods because of that wealth. You are a kind person from what I can tell, you really care about family from what you have told me, and you have been blessed with the incredible ability to perform magic. Something I thought hadn't existed before Holly up there came to my doorway and told me. Even though my parents suspected with me we had no solid evidence and thought we were going crazy!" She stopped briefly giving the boy in front of her a stead look. "Money doesn't matter, its your character that does and as far as I can tell you have a very rich character and those boys over there, have very poor character." Her gaze had followed his when he glanced at the boys and she had shown them a visible grimace.

''The food surely tasts nice. I've never had much food and it came really shocking that is just appeared,'' he said softly, watching Jenna eat. ''I've never seen so much food...''

Jenna nodded her head with vigor, the food really was delicious and she was loving every taste of the food on her tongue. "You should try some more, its really, really good!" She had noticed he didn't eat much and just as she sat back ready to be finished the food disappeared and was replaced by all sorts of sweets and desserts and good things. "Oh, my word." she said, her mouth falling open in wonder. She was already so stuffed from her dinner that she had to sit for a minute in stunned silence to process what she had seen.

When the main course had appeared in front of her she thought it was cool but it hadn't really phased her. Now that she had a full belly she was able to really sit back in awe at what she had seen. Food had literally appeared out of no where. One minute it was there, the next it wasn't. And then it disappeared and now in front of her face was just about every dessert imaginable. Her favorite cherry cobbler and pumpkin pie were sitting practically in front of her face and there was no way she was passing the opportunity of trying them. Piling a small slice of pie and cobbler onto her plate she ate slowly, savoring every last flavor that greeted her tongue. It was delicious. She wondered if the food was made out of magic or if they had five star chefs cooking for them. Whatever it was nothing she had ever had in her life could compare to the taste of the food she consumed now.

Jenna was lost in almost a daze before she brought back to earth with the last little bite of her dessert. If she had been full before she was stuffed now. She smiled at her new friends stretched before letting out an audible yawn. Covering her mouth as a way of apology she cast a glance at the other tables surrounding them. The hall really was filled with students and she was happy to see many friendships were already beginning to form. She was happy with hers so far and hoped to make many more as the days on the voyage to the school took place. It would not be nearly so frightening to be at a strange school of magic if she was surrounded by friends.

"So, what are you going to do about your rooming situation then? Stick it out and hope for the best? Maybe they will be more agreeable after they have had a full nights sleep, although if they continue to bully you I really do think that you should go and tell one of the staff so they could switch out rooms. Not all the boys could possibly be as horrible as those two." She nodded her head in the direction of his roommates and noticed they were looking at the table with scowls on their faces. She stuck her tongue out at them like the eleven year old she was and then flipped her head back to the attention of her table mates unconcerned any longer with the bully's.

Even though my parents suspected with me we had no solid evidence and thought we were going crazy!" She stopped briefly. "Money doesn't matter, its your character that does and as far as I can tell you have a very rich character and those boys over there, have very poor character." Scinate nodded at her and sat back. Maybe she was right, atleast she made him feel a lot better about himself. He had always thought he was just a farmboy that would always work on the lands. He was wrong. After this, he could do a lot more maybe. He smiled at hat thought.

The food dissapeared at once and dessserts appeared. He gasped and looked at it with wide eyes, he hadn't even seen any of these deserts before, well, not many. He always made potatoe cake but what was here, was much more then he could have ever imagined in his life. He looked around and noticed a small chocolate pie. He took a small slice and puts it in his mouth, eating it slowly, letting the tastes fill him. He rarely got chocolate so this was a real treat for him, and if it would be like this every evening. He heard his stomach growled and decided to stop eating.

He watched Jenna and saw she was enjoying it just as much as he was. He smiled faintly and looked at the deserts. ''This is wonderfull,'' he said, more to himself then to others actually, in a half whisper. He closed his eyes for a moment and prayed silently, then opened them again and sat back.

"So, what are you going to do about your rooming situation then? Stick it out and hope for the best? Maybe they will be more agreeable after they have had a full nights sleep, although if they continue to bully you I really do think that you should go and tell one of the staff so they could switch out rooms. Not all the boys could possibly be as horrible as those two."

Scinate looked at Jenna and then into the direction of the boys. He sighed and looked down, thinking of what to do about that problem. ''I'll stick it out and if it isn't better tomorrow, I'll report to the teachers, I guess.'' He looked at Jenna and then the teachers. He then took his last slice of chocolate pie and ate it silently. He took out a small book after he cleaned his hands and mouth and opened it. He looked through the pages until he stopped and smiled at it, watching the drawing of his grandfather in it. It looked really close to real and he had managed to draw that. He showed it to Jenna and smiled. ''That is my grandfather. He's old really but still as fit as when he was younger. He works mainly on the land and I help him. I also care for the animals that we have. About ten dogs, seven horses and a herd of cows and a few chickens.''

He looked through the pages again and stopped at the drawing of his grandmother. He showed it to Jenna again and smiled again. ''My grandmother is old too, but she too is quite fit though I started to notice that she was growing tired every day a bit more. She can cook very nice, maybe I can invite you some time if we have a break or something,'' he said and closed the book.

Scinate loved to draw really. He practised a lot and his grandmother and grandfather always loved the drawings he made. The dogs he drew a lot, and the horses and sometimes the cows or the chickens. He also tried to draw his grandparents a lot and they always loved it. It made his grandparents happy to see the drawings of him, and they always hoped they would keep drawing. He smiled as he thought of his grandparents. They had always been behind him and would always be behind him. He knew that. They loved him, and he loved them. And, when they would die, he would be sad of course, but for the time he could spend with them, he was thankful. He wouldn't really want to miss a day without his loving grandparents. He wouldn't want to miss one single hug of them.

He looked back up at Jenna and smiled.

"Wow those are really good sketches!" Jenna said looking at the book Scinate showed her. "That sounds like it would be a lot of fun, I'm sure my parents would let me visit for the holidays. Maybe." She looked down at her now empty plate and felt the pain of a full belly. Around the hall all the students were just about done eating and slowly the food disappeared once again. She looked up at the long table that housed the staff for Hogwarts USA and sighed inwardly it had been a really long day and she was really tired and ready to go to sleep. Fern looked happily contented to sit in the silence and hadn't spoken once during dinner. Ivy had started flirting with a boy who had sat down next to her though judging by the look on his face he wasn't pleased. Jenna gave him a small grin and stretched again.

Holly had stood up from the staff table and addressed the entire hall, wishing them a good nights rest and a bright and early morning saying she would see them all at breakfast the next day. Jenna stood up and Fern followed suit, stepping closer to the girl and giving Scinate a small smile. "It was nice to meet you Scinate, I hope you have better luck with your roommates." She said, blushing slightly. It was apparent she wasn't use to talking to boys.

"Hey, we will see you in the morning. I hope you have a better night!" Jenna said with a small wave to Scinate, "If you need anything my room is..." Jenna rattled off her room number before she walked out of the hall with Fern. Ivy gave a snort of disgust from the table before she flipped a smile at the boy she had been flirting with and followed her roommates out of the hall.

The three girls reached their room in no time and sat in the little common area for a while. There was a nice warm glow to the room and it smelled absolutely amazing. Ivy was the first to retreat her her little room, nose turned up the entire time and the door clicking shut with a resounding "click" that in itself sounded snooty. Jenna and Fern stayed up probably a tad too late, laughing and talking and forming a friendship. Jenna was glad that at least one of her roommates was friendly. She fell asleep that night with a smile on her face, glad that her first day had turned out alright.

She dressed quickly the next morning and made it to the breakfast hall in record time. It was a miracle after everything she had eaten the night before but she was once again famished. She saw Scinate sitting at a table by himself and skipped over sitting down beside him. Neither Fern nor Ivy were in the breakfast hall yet so they must have still been asleep. "Morning!" Jenna said brightly spreading some jam on a piece of toast and taking a big bite. As she ate the toast she loaded her plate up with all sorts of breakfast goodies. "How did you sleep? Your roommates give you any more trouble?" She examined Scinate's face carefully, judging that the night had not gone so well by his sad demeanor. "Hey, are you ok?" She asked gently, placing a hand on his shoulder and setting down her toast to give him her full attention.

Scinate was glad that Jenna liked the drawings. She was so friendly, one of the most friendly people he had ever met. He watched Ivy flirt with the boy and rolled his eyes. The boy didn't seem very pleased. He looked at the direction of Holly and then at Jenna. He nodded and got up after they were gone. He looked around for his two roommates but they weren't in the hall so he walked away.

He walked through the hall, keeping a close eye for if he would see the boys. He then got pulled aside at once and looked at the fat boy. Next to the fat boy was the skinny rich boy who was holding something behind his back. Scinate slapped the hand of the fat boy away and took a step back. ''Whatever you were planning on, please leave me alone.'' He turned around but at that moment, felt something hard hit his head. He turned around and saw the two boys laughing. It was enough! He moved his hands up before he jumped up and kicked the skinny boy back. He then grabbed the two hands of the fat boy and moved the sleeves so they were knotted. ''Now, leave me alone,'' he said and walked away.

After a while trying to find the room he entered, only to find the two boys angry. He ignored them and went to his room. He closed the door and laid down on his bed, not even bothering to pull his cloths off. He covered himself with the blankets and closed his eyes. He released a sigh and fell asleep.

The next thing he knew he woke up, without his blankets. He sat up and rubbed his eyes, then looked around. He looked at his closet which was open. He walked to it and checked for his cloths but they were gone. He sighed and softly opened his door, then looked around and gathered his cloths. He went back to his room and fell back asleep once back in his room.

The next morning, he was up early. He quickly changed and opened the door. He saw the two other boys were already awake, that surprised him. He hoped to be early up so he wouldn't be there when they would be awake. He walked to the door but the fat boy grabbed his shirt and pressed him to the wall. The rich boy narrowed his eyes and slapped him. ''There,'' the skinny boy growled and stepped away. The fat boy pressed him harder against the wall before the two boys went away.

Scinate sighed and looked at his cloths. They were torn. He walked back to his room and went through his cloths but found nothing that wasn't torn. They must have torn his cloths at night. He sighed and went away from his room. He found himself on the deck of the ship and went back. It took him a while before he found the hall and sat down on a table alone. He took a toast and ate it before leaning back and sighing softly.

He noticed Jenna enter but stayed silent. He watched her walk to hin and gave a faint smile but it didn't really gave away hi sad face. He rested his head on one hand and sighed. "How did you sleep? Your roommates give you any more trouble?" Scinate looked at her as she placed a hand on his shoulder. He looked down and stayed quiet for a while before noticing out of the corner of his eyes the rich boy. He looked back at Jenna and forced a smile.

''Yeah, I am fine, just didn't sleep that good and I missed my grandparents,'' he said and removed her hand with a soft smile. ''How did you sleep?'' he asked, looking around to see if her roommates were already awake. He didn't see them so he guessed they weren't awake. ''Are your roommates already awake?'' he asked softly. He took a toast and ate it, not looking at the boys, but still keeping an eye on them from the corner of his eyes.
