"can I just sit instead of laying down..." Akira questioned before sitting on the bench nearby. His mood wasn't great from the pain he was feeling.
He looked around, examining the clinic.
"this new world is certainly different from mine" he paused for a second before questioning "double T towers... 5Th and Westmore... you know where that is?"
Abby watched Akira walk over to the bench near the door, where her patients usually sat while they awaited her attentions. "Yes, of course. That's fine," she said soothingly. She slipped behind the curtain once more and grabbed various bandages, salves, and alcohol to clean his wounds with. The young woman walked back out and tilted the light on its stand toward Akira, then she moved over and sat next to him.
"Keep your eyes open, look into the colors that you see through my hand, and just relax," she said. Abby slid her cool, hard hand across the stranger's eyes and concentrated. With his eyes open, Akira would see each separate color of the rainbow flash by in quick progression. Each color tended to a separate system of the body. Slowly, he would start to feel less pain, have more energy, and just generally rejuvenated. After a few minutes, his pain would disappear entirely, and thus it would stay when Abigail pulled her hands away and quickly got to work at cleaning and bandaging his wounds.
Abby was taping the last bandage around Akira's leg when the teenager came into her clinic, looking quite worse for the wear. She gave Akira's a gentle pat before jumping up to walk over to the teen. "What happened to you?" she asked. She looked him over for a moment, then left his side to gather more materials. She came back and ran through the exact same process she had given Akira.
The pain and fatigue that he felt started to decrease slowly. The next thing Abby did was cleaned and bandaged his wounds. While she was bandaging his leg, another person came into the clinic. Abby tapped Akira's shoulder and walked to the person, asked what happened, and gathered more materials.
Akira was still not used to this new world. He was feeling a little awkward. He examined his bandaged covered body, hands, and legs in wonder why he had to wear them. In the place he came from, injuries like that could be healed completely in just a few minutes. He looked at Abby with his mouth shut, not knowing what to say. The first question her asked Abby about the address seemed to be ignored or unheard. He decided to let it pass and sit quietly on the bench. He had nowhere to go and nothing to do. He watched as the newcomer repaired a broken part of the roof with some sort of spell.
"I'm a freak, aren't I? The newcomer questioned while looking at the floor
Akira raised an eyebrow, confused by the newcomer's question.
"Why is that?" He questioned while he ran his hand through his hair "You seem normal to me"
There Joshua would remain for the remainder of the night, taking a few hours rest in his offices located one level below the main laboratory. Early the next morning Joshua had sent out several members of his staff to contact the people that he had met in the down town clinic, each would be escorted to the towers by their messengers, if they should be unable to arrange a transport for themselves.
The meeting was planned for 3:00 PM.
She glanced back at Akira, finally remembering that he had asked her a question just before the boy had come in. "And I do know the address we were given… It's actually… quite difficult to miss. Perhaps we'll all go there together." She straightened, finished with the teen's bandages. "You both can sleep here tonight, on the cots, if you like. I've got blankets… You'll be safe here."
Abigail looked between the two. "Can I get you guys anything else? Water? Some food? I don't have much, but I'll share what I can…" This was just natural Abby. Always willing to help others, to do whatever she could. And the next morning, when the messengers would come, she would insist that they all travel together to the towers. Akira and the teen were clearly on their own in this world, and she would take them under her wing if she could.
The three recruits turned to find three black suited men, definitely more corporate looking and less authoritative. "We have a limousines for each of you. If you will gather your things."
Two of the men then walked back outside to their cars while the third stepped to the side of the entrance and waited.
"Oh Mrs Brandt! Mr Thomas told me to tell you not to worry about your people here. Thomas is on the board of one of the largest Pharmaceutical companies in the United States, he is also a substantial investor in a half dozen Publicly and Privately owned hospitals around the cityT. Your people will be taken care of, you have Mr Thomas' word on it."
(OOC: sorry thought i posted this an hour ago)
"You brought a separate limo for each of us?" So wasteful. People with money. "Couldn't we just take one? I mean honestly, we're not going to kill each other if we're in a single car for the drive…" As annoyed as she was at the wastefulness, she was thankful that the man had promised to continue the care her patients were getting here. She hoped that they accepted the treatments that were offered to them. So many were in need. "Well… thank you," she said, even though she knew the man in the doorway had nothing to do with it
Abby turned and disappeared at the back of her clinic. She made her way up to the tiny apartment above, looking around. There was little there. She owned very few things. But she would miss this place. She grabbed her backpack and went to the small dresser, shoved in the clothes that she could fit, then went over to the nightstand by her bed. She pulled out a photo of her family and gently lay it at the top of the bag. She slid off the white coat she wore and laid it on the bed.
With one last glance around, Abigail turned and headed back down to the clinic area. She knew the two others would be ready to go immediately. They had come to her clinic with nothing. She left everything else there. Someone else would move into the clinic as soon as they realized she wasn't coming back anytime soon, and Abby was fine with that. She flicked off the lights and closed the clinic door, glancing back to fondly run a hand over the rough wood. Then she turned, and strode to the one limo that was left waiting with its door open. Ducking her head in thanks to the man that held the door open, she slid inside.
'Okay I change my mind, you are a big freak' Akira thought silently.
For a while, Akira listened to Abby and Anthony talk but Akira himself did not open his mouth to make any sound until the three men in suits and limo arrived.
Akira examined the vehicle in amazement. There were vehicles on his world but nothing as shiny as the limos. While Anthony wanted to join Abby in her limo, Akira rather not be in the same place with the person that threaten to turn his legs to stone. He quietly walked to the other limo where one of the men in suit opened the door and Akira went in. Suddenly, Akira remembered that he haven't thanked Abby for her help. He decided to stay in the limo and will thank her later. He looked down and saw he was still wearing a robe. Finding comfortable cloths will be his first priority when reaching the destination.
The three newest team members were greeted by Joshua, and after a brief welcome he explained to them some of the secret details to the towers where they would be spending much time.
"If you will be so kind to look up you will see the latest addition to my building. See there the walkway which connects the structures! Well, everything from about three levels below that walkway is reserved for the team. Without the proper password, which each person must provide both by voice recognition and manual input, no one will be allowed to access the top most floors. That password is, or should I say represents, your standing as a member of the Avengers team."
Joshua turned his head to face the first recruit.
"Abigail, since you were the first that I had tracked down, your password will be 'A' for Avengers, then the first and last letter of whichever team name you may choose, the sequence ends with the number 1. The same for the rest of you, of course replacing '1' with your number, Akira yours is '2' and Anthony '3'. Now, if you will follow me."
Joshua then escorted the three into the building and loaded them into the nearest elevator, once they were inside Joshua selected the number for the first of those three floors that he had mentioned, from there he would take them throughout each proceeding floor. After visiting their levels, each having one of their own, they foursome continued up to the main offices and laboratories of the Avengers team.
"The first thing that we will do is to have each of you showcase your abilities, to familiarize one another with our individual gifts. If you have an alternate form into which you transform to access your powers, then this will be a good time to display that too. I shall go first, to break the ice, so to speak."
Joshua depressed the elevator button marked HD (Halo-Deck). "Should you need it, this level can provide you with the necessary conditions, in case any of you require any external cause or purpose for using your powers."
The doors of the elevator opened to a vast empty space, the Halo-deck requiring an entire floor unto its own. Just outside the elevator there was a section of the floor painted blue with the Avengers insignia in the center.
"This area here is the safe zone, when the deck is activated a clear shield will come from the floor. This shield works very much like a two-way mirror, anyone looking toward the shield from the inside will only see a continuation of their chosen hologram, while anyone standing where we are now will see the simulation."
Joshua then stepped beyond the blue area. "I do not require a simulated reality, I have my own." Joshua said slyly.
The body of Joshua Thomas was suddenly surrounded by a bubble of blue sparks which increased until his body was completely enveloped within a solid, free floating sphere of energy.

As he had explained to the three recruits upon their first meeting, this was where Joshua needed to go whenever he transformed into his alter ego, to those watching from the outside there was no noticeable effect on the area surrounding the sphere. It was within this manufactured dimension that Joshua Thomas; now the Astral Spectre, donned his Inhibitor suit. The blue ball of energy suddenly blew out in a brilliant flash of blue, introducing the leader of the new Avengers team for the first time.

Abby slid her bag onto her shoulder as they stepped up in front of Joshua and listened to him speak about how things would work in these new buildings. She listened carefully, noting within her mind everything he said so that she would remember it later.
As Joshua led them up to the… Halo-Deck, Abigail listened closely to him. She didn't understand half of what he said. She was very little into technology. Living in the slums of Gotham, you didn't worry about technology. She stood silent against the wall, simply watching in awe as Joshua changed from the man into… an entirely different being. It was incredible.
Abby frowned a little. Her own skills paled in comparison to this man's. Then there was the boy, with his magic. She didn't even know what Akira could do. She couldn't help but feel a little out of place, and she ducked her head sheepishly. She folded her hands behind her back and continued to watch their leader as he showed them what he could do.
"This is all very impressing. I could use this Holo-deck to train myself more" Akira said as he slowly lowered his hand and tried to get used to the glow "I'm sorry but I'm wearing nothing under this layer of 'dress'. Can I borrow some clothing?"
Akira could feel sudden movements to his left. He turned towards it in instinct and saw three of the personal, holding and showing him choices of clothing. Akira froze for a moment before he picked a black jeans, a white T-shirt, a red leather jacket, and a white shoe with the label ALL-STAR. Akira thanked them and quickly put the the cloths on.
"okay! I'm ready to showcase my 'abilities' as you all call it" Akira said as he gussy up his new jacket.
Akira made sure that no one was near him. He raised his both his hands to his sides before he created chains that rise out of the shadow around him. The chain span around Akira before sticking on Akira's back and become large black butterfly wings with bird's feather. Golden flame appeared and covered from his hand to his elbow. The fire was not hot and it did not burn his clothing. He stood silent for everyone to see.
The day was waning as the daylight clouds yielded to the still, clear skies of night, it had been a most perfect and peaceful day, at least it seemed so from 90 stories up. The destruction and chaos of the streets below could not be detected from the uppermost heights of the double towers.
The team was nearing the mid-point of the glass walkway when all of sudden the entire sky ignited with the blueish flash of Sentinel chest repulsers. Fired simultaneously from above the tremendous blasts of energy struck the walkway on either side.
In a flurry of sparks and debris the severed walkway dropped from the sky and fell toward the busy streets below.
And that was when the sky lit up and there were blasts on each side of the walkway. Suddenly her fear became all too real as she and her three companions began to plummet down. All the way down to those dirty streets. A brief thought that she should have stayed where she was safe, in her little slum clinic, shot through her mind.
Abby felt her body begin to take flight within the walkway as it fell, gravity lifting her toward the ceiling as they plummeted. She glanced toward the males of her little group, eyes wide with fear. Why had she been given stupid prismatic hands instead of wings?!
How is Lia doing now? Will she be fine now that I'm gone? Is the children doing alright? They must be... pops and mom must be taking good care of them... The sorcerer... I hope the others were able to take care of him Akira thought and sigh.
The glass suddenly shattered and Akira's feet rose from the floor. Akira snapped out of his thinking.
"What the...?" Akira muttered
It felt like he was hovering but quickly realized he was falling while still inside the detached walkway. He looked around and noticed Abby who looked panicked and frightened while Anthony and Joshua was not within his sight. As fast as he could, he created grappling hooks made from dark substance and attached it to the floor of the falling walkway. He pulled himself to the floor, free run towards Abby and kicked himself up to grab Abby by the hips. Once again he created grappling hooks and pulled both him and Abby to the floor. While carrying Abby, he free run out out off the falling walkway. Outside, he created wings like he created before and hovered in the sky. The walkway fell down to the ground. He looked at Abby which he was carrying before switching his gaze towards all the sentinels around him.
"what are these things?!" Akira asked Abby
