Introduction
With these two major threats the immortals have two options: try to live in the shadows among humans, or reveal themselves. Either choice could lead to their prosperity--or their extinction.
*In addition to the Character Sheet at the bottom, please add in a potential first post*
$Human$
The mortal race known as humans have evolved the most in their existence. Enduring a comparatively short lifespan of 80 to 100 years, they are the weakest of the humanoid races. They make up for this with their adaptability, curiosity, and their will to survive. Most mortals are oblivious to the darklings around them and live their lives in complete ignorance. Some humans however have learned of one or more of the immortal races and either ignore the goings on, or have become followers or captives of which ever group they happen to have come upon. Lastly, there is a magical group of humans called spellcasters. These individuals are able to perform basic spells and are sometimes educated by the other races that exist.

General Weaknesses: No enhanced senses (making them weak compared to the other races), Shorter lifespan, easily injured, most of the population has no magical skills or abilities
Common Abilities: low level empathy, weak foresight, vague telepathy (have a general sense of a strong train of thought)
Uncommon Abilities: Spellcasters often have basic mastery of at least one element, some humans have the ability to see into the realm of the dead
Human blood is the most compatible with the Immortals, thus capable of many different changes.
-A human might become a Turned Vampire if all of their blood is drained and they consume Born Vampire blood.
-If scratched or bitten by one of the Werefolk, they will turn into that type at the end of a 28-31 day period( a month, basically).
-At Death, if a human is found to have certain characteristics befitting an Angel, they will be given a choice to join their ranks.
This also applies (to an extent) with breeding between human and Immortal.
-A half vampire will have many of the basic abilities that a Vampire will, though to a lesser extent (stronger than humans, harder to kill, but not as difficult as a Vampire would be; extended lifespan, but without the blood of a Born Vampire not immortal), but they'll also have some of the weaknesses( hypersensitive to sunlight, allergy to silver, more susceptible to burns).
-A Human-Angel cross will possess more of the Angelic qualities(more likely to have Empathy or see the Dead), and will also be more likely to be given the Choice at death. Spell Casters with Angel blood can cast more with less effect on their own bodies, and have an easier time gaining mastery.
- Wereblood doesn't pass down as accurately. The offspring will not be a Were; they'll either be a normal human, or a Shifter. Shifters with Wereblood don't usually have quite as much control over their shifted forms as pure Shifters or Human-Shifters do.
-No real change occurs when Shifter and Human mate, except a lesser likelihood of multiple shifts.
Human society is the most modern and up to date, although due to their constant expanding of their cities, the other races are in danger of being discovered and hunted down. Despite this, the mortals influenced by magic are the most hunted by vampires due to their sweeter tasting blood. Their expansion has also pushed their cities into werefolk territory making them food for these beasts. These attacks further raises the probability of the immortal races being discovered.

/Vampire\
These βDemonsβ are perhaps the oldest Darkling group, evolving alongside humans and feeding from their blood. Aging at a slower rate than humans, the born vampires are the stronger of the two types. As they age their supernatural abilities grow in power and sometimes they may attain another. Turned vampires (former humans) remain frozen in their bodies at the age the change occurred. If they manage to live for a long period of time they do grow stronger but they are unable to gain any extra abilities.
General Strengths: Extended lifespan, Speed, Strength, Heightened senses, Dense physical composition (ex: Skin) makes it more difficult for them to be killed. Accelerated healing
General Weaknesses: Vulnerable to sunlight and fire; allergic to pure, unaltered silver (generally causes blistering burns to the skin, prolonged exposure means death); the majority of the time a bite from Were-folk will cause intense fevers, the reaction similar to an injection of pure liquid silver(no documented cure or cases of survival from were-bites).
Common Abilities: Telepathy, Telekinesis, glamouring (works on the weaker minded, enables the vampire to temporarily βcontrolβ said mind which could result in false memories, apparent loss of free will, and/or control of the body itself), levitation/flight.
Less Common Abilities: *these are normally found only in the oldest Vampires, like the Ruling pair or the Heirs, or in Turned Vampires that had special abilities in their human life* Basic control over the elements (Air and Water usually, although Fire and Earth arenβt unheard of), Farsight (extremely heightened sense of sight in terms of distances), Foresight( the ability to see bits and pieces of the future; this ability is generally unreliable, as it comes usually in fragmented visions or in dreams of half nonsense), Basic Spell casting( this usually happens only with those that have the Elements ability; a Turned who was a witch/wizard as a human would also be more likely to maintain his ability to cast. This ability tends to be linked directly with another, making it one of the least common to possess. It is however not unheard of for a Casting ability to be mistaken for another, even the Commons.)
Society: The Vampires are set into a strict caste system in which it is difficult for a vampire to move up in station:
The Ruling Pair: The highest rank. The only way for them to be taken from this rank is for them to either be defeated by the Heirs(usually in this case they're killed), or for them to retire.
The Heirs: The Heirs can only become the rulers by killing the current ruling pair, or if the ruling pair decides to retire and pass off the responsibility (which is unlikely to happen).
The Nobles: It is a little easier for Nobles to move within their caste, their titles changing frequently due to their constant competition to become the favorite of the ruling pair (noble titles are based on where they gained nobility and it is nearly impossible for a Turned to become noble).
The Working Class: The working class donβt often move into the noble class due to them usually being content where they are. Though to move from working class to Noble class there is more often than not a family tie or marriage involved which allows them to be brought in.
The Servant Class: Servants can only become part of the working class if they are freed by their masters or have repaid some type of debt.
The Blood Slaves: The most confusing class (though the lowest) are the blood slaves. Officially they are unable to gain status in any way, if they are a masterβs favorite they could be considered a personal servant, or if officially wedded to their master or high servant.

*Blood Slaves: Tattooed chains at neck, ankle, or wrist
*Servants: A tattoo of their masterβs Crest (in their colors, usually), on the back of their hand or just over the breastbone
*Working Class: Tattoo representing their trade (or that of their family/mate), each individualized by the worker-- placed on the shoulder (right if male, left if female)
Unofficially, the nobles are also marked in their class by family: the adult members of each have a ring or necklace with the familyβs crest engraved within.
The problem with this system is that itβs completely stagnant. The ruling Pair have reigned since the mid-1400s, and have refused to evolve the traditions along with those of the humans. While the nobles see no problem of this, constantly jockeying for position to have the ear of the pair, the working class see differently and wish for the Heirs to take over and bring their society into modern times and culture. This rift in ideals will cause an uproar that cannot be avoided.
*In addition to the Character Sheet add your favorite vampire and/or type of vampire (Ex: Dracula vs Underworld)*
~Angels~
Like the Vampires, the Angels have evolved alongside humans and have extended lifespans. While their oldest have wings, many of them walk the same streets mortals do. Some believe this is simple evolution, others believe that at some point Angels mated with humans, gaining a less ethereal form. There are two types among their race: Guardians and Reapers (humans can on occasion prove themselves to fit into either type). Commonly, Guardians have light hair and eyes, while Reapers have dark. *This isnβt always the case, particularly in those who have the blood of both types in them.* Where Guardians have a more cheerful, if relatively dry, personality, the Reapers are a little darker, and have a twisted sense of humor. The Older Guardiansβ wings are commonly silver (mistaken for white by the few mortals in history who have seen these forms), and Reapers have dark gray (mistaken often for black, thus bringing about the myths of Fallen Angels).

General Weaknesses: Where the vampires have difficulty enduring the sun, Angels have almost no tolerance for complete darkness. Most canβt swim, especially those with wings. Their physical composition is closer to that of a human than a vampire, so they are more easily wounded.
Common Abilities: Telepathy, Empathy (the ability to sense and/or change the emotional atmosphere around them), basic mastery of Fire and Air, Reapers have the ability to transport Souls between the realms of the Living and Dead, guardians can heal others as well as themselves. Astral projection.
Less Common Abilities: Telekinesis, weaker glamour (usually connected with Telepathy, the ability to insert warnings or ideas into a mortalβs head)
Society: The Angels are led by a council of seven, elected within their groups *The oldest, the most experienced, and the wisest are usually picked*. The Guardians have three Members, and the Reapers have three. The final member, usually called only in the case of a tie, is always a Guardian-Reaper (someone of equal mixed blood). Each group is further βdividedβ into three.
Guardians: The guardians are separated by the types of people they watch over:
Warrior-Guardians watch military and service people that are often sent into dangerous situations (police/firemen).
Healer-Guardians watch over the sick and those that care for them.
The other group, commonly referred to as the βBabysittersβ consist of the most patient, even tempered Guardians. These tend to watch over children.
Reapers:
Gate Keepers (also referred to as the Judgment Reapers) peer into the βstoryβ of a given soul, determining whether it would go into the βWhiteβ Gate (commonly called paradise by those humans offered a chance to become Angels), The βBlackβ Gate (often referred to as βLimboβ by mortals, the βIn-Betweenβ place). Should a soulβs story be incomplete, these Reapers may give it one of two options: say their goodbyes as a ghost, or return to their bodies for a limited time to set right any wrongs.
Travelers are the βferrymenβ of mythology, transporting souls to the Gates (and sometimes returning them).
Watchers are the smallest group, commonly stationed in warzones or places where many patients are terminally ill. Their job is to determine how badly Guardians or Travelers are needed in any given place.
Guardian-Reapers: these mixed blood Angels take roles of both types, usually as Warrior-Travelers or Watcher-Healers. The third group of this kind are the ones who search for those with the potential for becoming an angel.
Qualities for becoming an Angel: For a human to be offered the opportunity to become an angel, they must have met certain criteria. The easiest one to meet, though difficult to get perfect, is having the correct mental attitude becoming of an angel. This includes strong protective instincts, a strong but fair sense of justice, and even a heightened need to help those around them. The next hardest but more noticeable and looked for are the acts of valor and honor. This would come easy for someone in law enforcement, a firefighter, doctor, even soldiers. In their acts of saving others or providing sound judgment on others, they are more desired as angels. Simple acts from children are also noted, when they help those around them, protecting their younger siblings, or even alerting adults about fires or kidnappings. Even the acts of people who are not on the 'right' side of the law are sometimes seen and accepted; Robin Hood types, or men that, although are part of possibly gangs or bands of thieves, show an increased sense of honor and dignity. Lastly, the hardest to have but the easiest to become an angel with are the ones with strong abilities. Strong Empaths for example have a high chance of being chosen, as well as ones with other strong mental based abilities such as telepathy who use their power to warn someone in danger, or help authorities find someone they're looking for.
Despite their long reign, the Angel population is dwindling. As the world continues to gradually destroy itself, it becomes harder to find Humans who have the makings of Angels. Many of their morals and ideals have become too corrupted and twisted to be of use. These types are also hunted by Vampires, who find their blood a delicacy and will often turn them into blood slaves; ruining their chances of being chosen.
*In addition to the Character Sheet add favorite type of angel. (guardian vs arch vs fallen ect.)*
#Werefolk#
Living on the edges of society and considered the most barbaric type of darkling, the werefolk stereotype and mythology is the closest to reality. Being the most dangerous and avoided group is partially due to the fact that they have the most unstable abilities with almost no control over them. Three most common types are the werewolf, werecat, and the werebear. Each has the general pack mentality of a βdog-eat-dog worldβ where the strongest are in charge and the weak are usually killed and eaten. Werefolk are usually turned from a human by a bite or scratch, it is unknown how this disease was introduced but it has continued to spread exponentially.
General Strengths: Increased speed, strength, stamina, heightened senses of hearing and smell, and eyesight (except for the werebear due to bears having bad eyesight).
General Weaknesses: Though they do well in groups, by themselves most are vulnerable to attack and have no training in defending themselves single-handedly, similar to the vampires werefolk are allergic to pure silver objects due to silverβs ability to ward off infection.
General Abilities: Alphas are able, to an extent, exert their will upon the members of their pack, Betas have the same to a lesser extent. When first turned their second form manifests monthly, as they grow in age and power (losing their humanity in the process) their transformations increase in frequency until they are able to change at will.
Arising from their animalistic natures and rapidly declining human sense, the werefolk often attack darklings and mortals alike. Each other society will avidly attack any shifted werefolk in their territory. Also, there are a handful of those werefolk who seek to find a cure for their diseaseβnot always by legitimate meansβ¦

*In addition to the Character Sheet add your favorite werewolf legend or story.*
)Shape Shifters(
Commonly mistaken for werefolk by humans, the shifters are more in control of themselves and less vicious, retaining most of their human qualities. Unlike werefolk their abilities come from birth and are not transferable in any other manner besides breeding. Their second forms do not revolve around cycles or schedule; the youngest ones gaining the ability to change at will within a few years of age. Around the age of ten they have mastered their shifting ability then learning to go through a partial shift by age fifteen (although it should be noted that most donβt master the partial shift until much later).

General Strengths: Enhanced speed and senses or hearing, smell, and sight, greater control over their ability, able to blend in easily in a human crowd.
General Weaknesses: shape shifters are the weakest and most human-like of the βimmortalsβ with only a slightly extended lifespan (living about two hundred years compared to a humanβs average of eighty to one hundred), they are almost as easily wounded as humans.
Common Ability: Besides their birth ability some are able to shift into multiple breeds of their given species,
Less Common Ability: Occasionally mixed blood occurs, resulting in multiple shifts between species (ex. Panther and wolf).
Though the most modern of the immortals, they are also the most huntedβby mortal and immortal alike. They are often mistaken for mortal game, or for werefolk (except BY werefolk, who think theyβre just food).

The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 5 authors
Michael watched his brother's fluid movements with a dark grin. The girl had gone right up to Rem, completely willing putty as he embraced her. A few of the jealous ones impatiently stalked off the floor, offering wrists or necks to Michael. After denying a few, he selected one of the regulars, a favorite of his. She was all but addicted to their bite, and the reward of blood that came after. He chuckled softly as she sat in his lap boldly, tilting her head back so far some might have thought it'd fall off. With a hungry growl, he sank his fangs deep into her throat.
Night had fallen by the time Vince arrived at the edge of the city. His face morphed into disgust at the smell of humans. They were vile creatures that needed to die. But they weren't his mission. She was here somewhere. Her blood trail lead him here and he could just catch a hint of her scent somewhere in the city. He shifted into his human form and crept down the hill and entered the sleeping yet awake city. He kept to the shadows as he snagged some pants that were carelessly left drying out a window. Humans. He laughed to himself and started tracking Aleara.
After an hour of hunting he growled in anger. All the smells of the city were interfering and overstimulating his sense of smell. His claws raked down the side of a building as he hit another dead end. Around one he gave up for the night and started stalking around for anything careless enough to cross his path. Then he found one; a young shifter such as himself. He inhaled deeply and grinned. A little rabbit.
"Hello, young man." He smiled hungrily. The rabbit froze with fear in his black beady eyes. "You seem lost, maybe I can help?" He started drooling as the rabbit's heart rate escalated. Reacting on pure instinct, the young shifter fled. Vince howled in delight and pursued the terrified young man. Although fast, the rabbit stood no chance for a seasoned hunter such as the crazed wolf. Within five minutes, Vince plowed into to the side of the rabbit and with powerful chops bit into the jugular veins. Warm succulent blood oozed into Vince's mouth. Vince nearly purred at the sensation. He dragged his kill into an alleyway and feasted. By the time he finished, all that was left was gnawed on bones and a half torn up terrified face. Vince wiped his face and left the carcass in a pile for whatever carrion creatures wanted to feast on it.
After nearly twenty minutes of listening the fast paced music and taking a taste from several of the women that came to him, he was bored. There wasn't much sport in the act of getting a good meal any more. There were so many willing people that the hunt was no longer a part of the process. One could just come to a place like this and females nearly threw themselves on the vamps. Not to mention all the ones their mother and father kept in the palace as well. All of them were ready to offer themselves up to be fed on.
He said goodbye to the females and detached himself from them to go back to his brother. He made his way through the people and back to the bar on the stool besides Michael. "This didn't turn out to be as interesting as I thought. Shall we go somewhere different?" <To the boundary perhaps? See if we can get a shifter?>
It wasn't often someone could easily get a willing shifter to give their blood. They were all predatory beings and the shifters had more animal type instincts. That combination gave it more of a thrill if you could manage to get one. Plus, their blood tasted much different than the humans and he was bored of what they had to offer.

The setting changes from Bloodlust to Modern Nightscape
The memory was so intense she had to stop for a moment as she continued to stroke her lips. She recieved many scars that time, ones that never seemed to fully heal. They would hurt on occasion causing her to have to pause and wait the pain out. She once asked another immortal if that was possible. If old scars could burn as if they were new. The hawk shifter looked at her sadly (well, Al thought she did, she smelled sad anyways) and replied, "They can. Sometimes because they never fully heal. Sometimes because the memory forces it to hurt." Al didn't like either answer but accepted it. The wise hawk knew far more than Al ever did and they were friends. When she finally came out of her head she realized she was standing outside a strange building. The scents coming from it were different; new. It smelled of death, life, and something she wasn't quite sure of.
He glanced up at the sky and noticed that the moon was nearly dark. It used to work to their benefit but with artificial light now there was no difference on the street between night and day. True that there isn't much reward in the taste factor of it. But it does bring back the rush of the Hunt doesn't it? He glanced at his brother through his bangs and smiled, Don't want to get fat now do you? Being pampered all the time? He chuckled and headed towards the boundary that separated the Vampires from the Shifter side of town. Perhaps his comment would earn him a hit or playful slap. But if he was the only one who could ever tease his brother without serious repercussions then he was going to take advantage.
With a satisfied stomach, Vince started prowling about the town. He decided to tour the place, get to know it better before finding his bitch. He could wait, a wolf could always wait out his prey. It was especially easy for him at the moment because her scent existed, but she was nowhere to be found. A part of him doubted that she even stayed in a human infested place. Much to Aleara's dislike he knew her quiet well. She wasn't fond of places such as this city because the stimuli could be too overwhelming for her extra sensitive ears and nose. Solid objects tended to make no sounds and if she wasn't careful, she would often run into things and more than once he found her because she left some blood behind. But she was a survivor, her being a live proved it. If she could live 20 years blind and a majority of her life alone, she was a survivor and the perfect mate for him. A sadistic smile croseed his lips as he thought of her and everything he would do to her once he claimed her.
As his mind wandered to the woman that fled from him, he charted the city. Few immortals existed on the human side of it. There apparently was a separate area, not that the human's seemed to notice, specifically for creature like him. Even that was segregated more into each species type. He stood at the crossroads between the shifter side and vampire. Would she have found sactuary with her own kind? Or would she have tried to throw him off by slipping through the immortal's territory that tried to kill them everyday? It wouldn't have been the first time the little tramp entered enemy territory and yet she somehow always survived. Tapping his lips he decided to explore the human side more before entering immortal territory.
The search through the rest of the human city turned out to be boring and uneventful. Vince's stomach growled, the bunny wasn't much of a dinner more like an early dessert. Prowling back towards the immortal side a grin spread across his lips. It was a scent of blood, stale air, and decay, but more than that it told him of a good time. He stalked his prey until the vampire grew angry and hissed, "Come out shifter!"
Vince gave a dark chuckle as he faced down the vampire. The woman snarled at him with lethal white teeth and a stance that foretold of centries of battles. Vince gve an excited growl as his grin widened to show of his shifting canine teeth and glowing eyes. With a snap of his mouth, he lunged at her, easily shifting into his large (by wolf stanards) scarred covered grey wolf. Unlike the rabbit from before that stood there and easily died, the vampire easily dodged. The deadly fight was one the woman had never fought in before. Yes, she had seen blood spatter about coloring the world around it brightly, she had seen chunks of flesh be thrown about for carrion creatures to feast on later, but she had never fought a creature like Vince. Every creature has a sense of self preservation and unconsciously protected themselves from their opponent, not Vince. He was so confident that he would never lose a fight that he was alwasy on offense and never defaulted to defense. His insanity was unparellel.
Using the last of her strength, she tossed the crazed wolf and fled; blood oozing from her various wounds. She staggard to the one place she had last seen the princes, they would know what to do. As she made her way to the two men, the crowd parted in horror. Finding one of them, she slurred, "Shifter-" Before pitching forward and ceasing to exist.
Setting
0.00 INK
As they made their way to the Shifter line, a female stumbled toward them. He stalked forward, barely catching her last word. Not that he needed to. Those weren't vampire bites. He caught the woman as she slumped forward lifelessly and looked at his brother. "Damned wolves.... Someone was hunting on the line." His eyes turned cold, furious. The only rule he liked in his parents' reign was the one that most immortals shared: no hunting on the borders. It was too easy for wars to start. Wars weren't easily kept from the human world. Angels got involved because human casualties were inevitable. Feeding sources went straight to the soldiers. Well, the noble ones. The commoners were used as bait, or starved into frenzies.
It was all more trouble than it was worth. They needed to start talking to the heads of each species before things got out of hand. A rogue was on the loose; whether it was a shifter or a werewolf out of his zone, it was hard to tell...
Galen
Galen watched from the shadows, sensing as the woman's soul left her. The Vampire Prince had dropped to his knees to catch her, something quite out of character for the scarred, ruthless male. The pain and annoyance that seeped from him was stifling. Any other highborn would have just let her. As though the civilian were nothing.
Perhaps there was more to the Princes after all....
She felt eyes on her the longer she stood infront of the strange building. She couldn't tell what they were thinking (she wasn't psychic), but she had a feeling she wasn't exactly welcomed. It had been a while (too long perhaps) since she'd been to a large city and couldn't' remember if she would cause problems if she saited her curiousity and went in to explore. She meant the creatures inside no harm, but that didn't mean they wouldn't find the act a declaration. She didn't want that. Her choice however was decided for her when blood wafted her way. Her head turned as she scented the air. It was a strange mixture of stale and slowly dying blood. Al's skin started to crawl the closer her feet brought her to the source. She was hidden in the shadows of the borders between species when she heard a female voice utter, "Shifter-" Before dying. It is strange to know or witness a vampire dying. She silently crept backwards into an alley, not wanting to be caught by the two imposing men that were still with the dead woman.
How she never realized there was another near her, Al will never understand. Unlike most, she tended to alwasy ne aware when beings were near due to her non-visual senses being so developed. But by the time she did, she had already bumped into the silent being. She jolted a little before spinning with a startled expression. "Sorry." She whispered, hoping the immortal would not want to harm she. She was still hurt and very little compared to fighting with a stitched side.

"You needn't fear me, lass. Did you have anything to do with this?" His accent was thick from his brief scare, his wings locked into visibility, partly to comfort himself and partly because he wasn't focused on them. Rubbing his shoulder, he hoped the Princes wouldn't see them;gray as pale as his were, they wwren't exactly invisible in the semidarkness.
He knelt by his brother's side as he caught the woman. He didn't hear the last word but he knew he didn't need to hear it based on the wounds she had on her as well as his brother's reaction. Vampires fed from one another sometimes but human blood was better and so vampires did not hunt one another.
There was more than enough blood coming from the now lifeless female that Remiel was able to pick up the scent of it. "Can follow it back to the border. Perhaps get the scent of which species it was. Then contact the leaders of the others to settle this without fighting."
He hated the idea of an immortals' war. It was too messy and complicated. The species in this city had already managed to find a peaceful way of coexisting and no one wanted to jeopardize that. Many were already being hunted they the werefolk lurking around. It wouldn't surprise him if a few had to work together in order to protect themselves. It that would be the case in the future, they had better prevent a war outbreak now.
He stood and started walking in the direction of the scent. He almost hoped it was a werefolk, <would make things so much simpler...>
Stupid bitch. Vince growled to himself as he limped back to the woods that surrounded the city. He trotted through it, snapping at every creature that happened across him. When he came to a stream he stopped to wash himself. Vampires were repugnant smelling; he wanted to throw up. He had to admit though, it was the most stimulating fight in a very long time and it proved how strong he was. He preened a little at the knowledge that he defeated, no killed the stupid bitch. Huh! and the supernatural world claims shifters are one of the weakest immortals there is. How foolish of them, they all deserve to die.
After cleaning his wounds, he tracked down a nice den to rest in. Once the stupid creature that once lived inside it was taken care of (Vince would be saving it for later), he made himself comfortable. It would take about two full days to heal, he would be back on the prowl in about a day.
Aleara
The man's accent soothed her (it reminded her a little of when she lived among humans) as much as the calming feeling he was sending her way. It unnerved her a little that he could influence her, but she was never one to judge. If he meant her harm, he would act and Aleara would know never to trust him. For now however, she accepted tha feeling and gave a tight smile before turning to face the scene once again. Shaking her head, she replied lappsing back a little into her own Irish accent, "No. I came across the smell as I was walking." She lifted her head to scent the air but found the odors were too mixed. "The scents are too corrupted though for me to differenciate what the other specie's might be. The older the vampire is, the harder it is to distinguish the vampire's natural scent from its... donor's or in this case the attacker." She itched under her nose, the strange mix of stale, decay, nature, and hormones maded her want to sneeze. She bit her lip as she looked back at the man with a unique scent. "If the attacker is not another vampire, what does this mean for us?"
Setting

"War, lass. Unless the Princes can talk successfully with the other leaders, it will mean war. Bloody, and impossible to hide from humans. If we're lucky, 'twas a were, but werefolk don't usually leave that much intact. And if there is war, my people will congregate to intervene, or gather more to join our number...." He sighed heavily, folding his wings around himself for comfort. "The city will not likely survive unscathed."
Seth
Seth watched his masters' reaction to the civilian that was slain. The stench of wet fur was everywhere, making his lip curl in disgust. Michael was smart. Though the fearsome Prince loved battle and chaos, he knew what kinds were... appropriate. With a soft whisper, he let himself drop slowly behind them from his perch on a nearby building. "Prince Michael. Prince Remiel. Leave her, we must begin Γ΄ur research at the Palace at once. Besides, dawn's in an hour or so, your Mother will not be happy."
Brushing some imaginary dust onto her simple black tank top, she then bent to rifle through a pocket in her discarded jacket for money. "You know," she began, "you didn't have to help me with the boxes. You could have just laid back in the car and wait until I came with the pay. How much?" She looked up at the driver, waiting for an answer, her wallet in hand.
The driver, an older man with kind eyes, shrugged and suggested, "$5.00. And of course I helped you, it wouldn't have been gentlemanly just to lay back and relax while a lady does all the work."
Catherine chuckled in amusement, pulling out five paper bills and handing them to the man before pulling up the handle of her suit case, "Sure. Thanks. Have a nice night, sir." She continued walking up to the door.
"You too, miss." Finally, the older driver got into his worn vehicle and left, leaving Catherine to stand hesitantly outside her old home.
After a few silent moments, Catherine muttered to herself, "C'mon, gotta get this done." And she entered, rolling the suitcase up to lean against a wall next to the boxes. A little while more of standing there, she just listened, thinking silently as she scanned the dusty surroundings for anything. The many items of furniture, having been left there since her parent's deaths, reminded her of ghosts and ghouls with dusty white cloths pulled over them. The air was so thick with the musty smell of the dust that Catherine could feel it tickling the back of her nose, and she shook her head, heaving a large sigh. "No, not yet. Never mind." Without speaking any more than she already had, she grabbed her jacket, slipped it on, and slipped out the door after flipping off the lights. That place was too full, full of dust, silence, and memories, and she had to get out of there. Besides, it was a nice night, and night walks had always been able to calm her nerves.
Something, just a feeling, made her walk towards the outskirts. Maybe she'd go out into the trees, find a little treehouse she'd seen when she was younger and awaken some good, happy memories. Or mabye she'd stay along the streets, breathing in the familiar air.
He stopped and looked back as soon as Seth dropped down from the shadows. "Still following us I see..."
He didn't entirely like that Seth was always stalking them; 'keeping an eye on them' as mother and father put it. They claimed it was because they didn't want them falling into trouble. He figured though that it was because mother and father didn't want them to cause trouble. Not that he didn't like Seth, he just disliked the being followed part.
He put his hands in his pockets and glanced at the sky. "Sun is coming soon...Still this shouldn't wait too long. Scents will start fading, and the killer will travel further."
He pats Michael's shoulder. <Can send one of the human servants to the shifter side. With a message at least.>
Dread filled her as she started stroking the twin scars down her lips. This couldn't happen again. She felt like a curse; wherever she went trouble brewed. Part of the reason she lived in the forest and rarely interacted with human dwellings or other immortals was because trouble tended to follow her. The perfect example was the Windrunner Pack. She was only supposed to be there as a guest and ended up causing blood to be spilt. She shook the memory from her mind as she drummed her fingers.
Her heightened hearing picked up the vampires talking about leaving. "If I can get close enough to the body I might be able to sift through the scents. It is possible to pick up an abnormality as long as no more than seven scents are mixed." Al gave the stranger a grin as she tapped her nose. "A wolf's sense of smell is most useful at times." Then she cocked her head, hair swishing at the sudden movement. "Though incredibly troublesome when entering a city after a long time away from... humans. It seems the vampires do not wish for a fight and I too hope to prevent it." She bit her lip before giving a graceful curtsie bow. "I am Aleara-Rayn, a pleasure to meet you."

"Galen Dallas, likewise a pleasure. And I believe I understand your pain. When I first got here, my Gifts were on overload from all the different inputs... I am sensitive to others' emotions. I can't do much to influence them, but I can feel them very strongly, and I am often pulled toward them. Those two aren't just Vampires. They're the Heirs to this area's Coven, I believe humans call their families. They're very intelligent, but from what I can remember about them they're also ruthless. They don't want a war, but if they get one you can be damned sure they'll...play, I suppose, at full power. Were I you, I would wait until sunrise to take a look. While the body is still in the shade..."
Michael scowled at Seth furiously, getting a small, grim bit of pleasure at the former slave's flinch. "Fine. Mother will be so worried, after all. However Seth, I must ask: send one of our humans to sniff about."
"Thank you for the advice Galen." Al bowed my head and moved some of her unruly hair aside. "You sound as though you know these two particular vampires well. When you say ruthless, do you mean that if provoked they will show no mercy or never cross their path or they will attack? I want to know who I am dealing with if I am to remain in the city longer than a few days." Using the wall Al made her way half a foot from the exit of the alley. She inhaled as deeply as she could trying to take in the vampires' scents. It was difficult and hurt her head trying to sift through all the scents demanding her attention. Finally though she was able to tag them: Damp soil and charred, fabric and fire.
Stepping back into the alley she turned back to the man trying not to wince. The throbbing was back in her side, but she tried to push it away so Galen would not have deal with the pain she was feeling. "And if you do not mind me asking..." She looked down shy and unsure if she should ask. Invasion of privacy and all. "What are you?" She felt her cheeks burn. When the heck did she become bold enough to ask a stranger this? "I have never met another that smells like you."
Vince
Vince was sleeping soundly. He was in the middle of a nice dream where he's found his little bitch and was teaching her, her place. He rumbled low in his chest as Aleara's screams filled his ears and he smiled in glee. He was in the middle of pinning her down when he bolted upright, eyes scanning the immediate area. Someone was coming...
He glanced at Seth as he flinched from his brother and he shook his head slightly. He figured by now Seth would know that neither of them would actually hurt him, or tell mother and father that he did anything wrong towards them. If they did end up telling it would lead to more trouble for themselves because mother and father would need to know what they were doing, which was not always what they were "supposed" to be doing.
"Settled then. We send a servant to shifters, let them know what happened and hope that it was just Werefolk. If not then we know its going to get a lot less friendly around here."
He greatly hoped it wouldn't come to unfriendly terms with the other groups in the city. If it did then the humans would definitely find out. If THAT happened then the city would end up leveled, humans either taken as slaves or outright killed. The peace the varied groups had found here would be gone and everyone would have to return to their secluded towns and hideouts. Clan sizes would decrease and their entire coven would have to either disperse with people moving on to other groups or split off into their own.
He shook his head of the worst case scenario and started walking back down the street. For everyone's sake he hoped it was a Were or an outsider shifter.

Re: Among the Dark Things
I'M DONE! FINALLY! I'M SO HAPPY!
...I literally squealed when I posted my character... My brothers walked into the room just as I became composed and asked what that was. I just looked straight at them and said I saw someone standing behind me in the computer reflection, then felt a hand on my shoulder and a whisper in my ear. (These two believe in ghosts, poltergeists, etc. and I like freaking them out. Their terrified expressions were absolutely priceless!)
Re: Among the Dark Things
It's finals week so I haven't been on the computer much and Write has a job so she is trying to get on as much as she can when she is off of work.

(And, well, I just had a really weird memory forgerfulness. I knew how to color the typing yesterday, but today I just can't remember.)
