So what exactly are you? A ghost? A spirit? Something else? Well, something else might be the best description, though if you want a real answer, you are as you were – human, but only just. You have no memories; am I wrong? Your childhood seems fuzzy, distant, and your years as a teen all mesh together like muddy water. There is a reason for that, dear friend, but we shall return to that at a later time.

I’m sure you’ve heard of the children of the night. Vampires, werewolves, the list goes on but I shall spare your soul of the boredom for now. You’ve wronged them. You’ve hurt them. You’ve done something that has caused them to curse you – you have heard me correctly; one of these creatures placed the curse that has kept you alive.

Contrary to popular belief, these creatures get along just fine. In a sense they are like family – every now and then they bicker and fight, but they’d never turn their back on each other. The world has shrunken, its seas disappearing and its land becoming small; the world is around the size of the united states but rolled into one tiny ball. On that land these creatures have created buildings that span hundreds of miles, buildings that they reside in; buildings that you will reside in.

So why are your memories gone? What has caused you to forget? When you “died”, your soul left to go to its destined place; above or below, if you know what I mean. Shall I simple it down? In other words, you are not you. Your soul is but a copy; in a sense, you are yourself’s other half. The children of the night cannot stop your soul from ascending or descending, but they can create a copy of yourself. It is a way to please themselves, to gain the revenge they desire.

Don’t be grateful just yet, dear friend, for they have not spared your life because you have done well. On the contrary, this is your punishment. Immortality. Like them, you must walk this earth until someone beats you so badly that your body cannot regenerate itself. You can’t run away so don’t even try. They will find you whether you want them to or not. And when they do, dear friend, I pity your soul.

What of the other creatures, you ask? Well you see, while they do exist, only vampires and werewolves can curse humans. This is because they are the strongest of the children of the night. They reign over the other creatures with an iron fist. Some of the other creatures are servants or slaves

There are no laws that specify relations between a vampire/werewolf and their human. Abuse? Fine. Hate? Fine. Love? Fine. The relationship between a vampire/werewolf and their human is not to be judged by others. Any creature outside of the relationship may not have any sort of relations with the human. However, relations between those of their own species are allowed.

Humans must use polite speech with their partner. Specific partners may want to be called specific names, though it is only courtesy to call them Master until they tell you otherwise. Your “Master” is allowed to call you whatever they wish no matter how offensive. Humans must follow all orders of their partner no matter the sanity level of the request; any human found not to follow orders are to be punished by their partner.

To start off, vampires are not weak creatures. Crosses, garlic, sunlight, and other such superstitions of weakness do not harm them. They cannot shift into bats or any other animal and do not sleep in coffins. However, they must drink blood at least once a week in order to survive. Most vampires have high blood lust, though will not attack another person/creature. Vampiric codes created long ago clearly define that if a vampire wants blood from a specific person, they must ask that person beforehand – this rule does not apply to human partners. Vampires heal very quickly and have stunning reflexes, allowing them to move limberly and quickly. Most do not have any sort of supernatural powers, though it isn’t common to come across a vampire with compulsion abilities, meaning that they can persuade a person to do their bidding just by making eye-contact or by speaking with a persuasive tone. These creatures are immortal and do not age past twenty two. The only way to kill a vampire is to keep it from drinking blood. Personality wise, vampires are usually very self-centered and dark creatures. They enjoy watching others in pain and are excited by fear. They have no legitimate need for sexual activity aside from the pleasure – they cannot reproduce; when they are successfully killed, their body resorts back to that of a child with the same soul (in other words, a vampire has memories of all of his/her past lives but may have a different personality). A vampire bite is both pleasurable for the human and for the vampire, though can be painful for the human at the beginning of each feeding.

Werewolves are much like vampires – the superstitions that surround them are mostly false. The moon has no power over them aside from being considered one of their Goddesses. They often shift to their wolf form on full moons to honor her. A werewolf’s senses are enhanced, allowing them to hear, sense, and smell things from far distances. Their stamina has increased over time and they can go without food or water for days. Aside from these enhancements, they are as fast as vampires but not as strong. Werewolves have three phases: human-phase, were-phase, and wolf-phase. Were-phase is an in-between stage in which their human form becomes bulky, generally more hairy, larger, and develop characteristics of a wolf such as elongated and sharp canine teeth and sharp nails. They heal as fast as vampires and do not age past the age of twenty five. The only way to kill a werewolf is to dismember him. Werewolves have personalities much like vampires. They find pain and war very exciting, so much that they like to pick fights just to have an adrenaline rush. However, they are much more kind to those they love and can sometimes think for others before themselves (crazy, I know). As for sexual activity, werewolves enjoy it only so much – usually around the time of the full moon they are more in the mood. However, they cannot reproduce with humans and must reproduce with their own kind.

But now that you know about your partner, what of yourself?

While you are still technically human, you aren’t exactly human and longer. Whatever age you were when you “died” will be the age you are forever. You cannot die unless your body has been torn to the point that your body cannot re-assemble itself. In the case that you are “mortally” wounded, your mind will temporarily shut off, only turning back on when you are completely healed. In this state you do not dream or think – you cannot remember anything that happens during this time. Despite this strange ability to cheat death, you do, in fact, feel the pain of “dying”.
