ImageCarter is a very typical kind of girl. She has her secrets, her insecurities, and even her problematic past. But she doesn't let that get to her. Of course other than her commitment issues. She tries her best to keep away from guys she begins feeling things for because of her abusive fears. Those fears seems to take control of her life without her even realizing it's happening.

She is one of the nicest and most considerate people you could ever meet. Carter cares entirely more about everyone else than herself. But of course that would be one of the reasons why she hides behind her camera all the time. She likes to capture the good times of other's lives because she doesn't have very many good times in her own life. Carter hides her insecurities within her photography and music, this music she keeps to herself and doesn't show anyone. She doesn't even let anyone know that she turned her basement into a recording studio.

Deep inside, all she is trying to do is figure out who she is, get to know herself. She never had much of a chance to do this while growing up, so that just makes adult life a lot harder than is should be. She takes care of her responsibilities and she is highly educated in the real world, she just needs to educate herself on nothing more than herself for a change. Which is one of the many reasons she keeps herself away from anyone who potentially could ever care about her. Carter doesn't want to get caught up in someone else's life without being able to have complete control of her own life.

Carter was born into a very rich family, but that never seemed to be enough to keep her happy. Her parents always seemed to focus more upon their work than showing any attention to her. Because of this she had to raise herself and make sure that she had everything she needed, of course up until she was sixteen and able to get a job she was take care of by a nanny. On Carter's sixteenth birthday, her parents decided that she no longer needed a nanny to take care of her. Miranda was the only woman she ever seemed extremely close to and the only person she could ever trust. Miranda raised her, her parents didn't. But of course when Carter was seventeen Miranda died from a heart attack, ever since she felt completely alone.

In school she always had it rough. The friends she thought she had turned out to be using her because she was rich. These teenagers just liked that perks that came with being friends with Carter, they never cared about the girl to begin with. Once she found this out, she decided to stay away from everyone else, she began pushing people away because she was scared that people would just do nothing more than use her like they had in the past. If she thought her relationship issues were bad to begin with, she was more wrong that she thought she'd ever be. Whenever her father began cheating on her mother, numerous different times with different women, she began losing faith in men completely.

All her life she never had a boyfriend and it was because of the trust issues she gained while growing up from the way her so called friends treated her and her father treated her mother. All close relationships were ruined for her because of that.

The very day she turned eighteen, she moved out of New York and went to Graceland, Ohio in order to get away from her old life and go searching for her new life. Just a year after living in Graceland, she was given a job by the state's newspaper as the photographer. That's when her photography career began to take off. She immediately took the job offer and has stayed with the company ever since.

On her down times, she is either taking photos of the town and nature or in her recording studio she has set up in her basement recording original songs. Those songs and the studio itself is all a secret from the outside world, she is the only one who knows about it, along with the ones who installed the studio as well. She made them keep it a secret. Carter didn't want anyone knowing about her secret passion for music, all she wanted people to know about her was her love for photography, her music was much more personal than her photos were and it would always be that way.

It's a lot easier to decipher emotions in music than it would be in photography. Her emotions and her thoughts were her only safe haven, if those were exploited to even one person in the world, she wouldn't know how to handle it.

So begins...

ImageCarter sat at the bar with an alcoholic beverage on the surface in front of her, lit cigarette in her left hand, camera and photos in front of her, left elbow propped up on the bar as she looked through all of the photos she has taken of the president making his speech. She had to choose the better photo and hand it over to the newspaper tomorrow so they can get it in to the editor. Carter loved her job but it always took up so much of her time. She hardly ever seemed to have much time to herself these days.

"I really need a vacation," she spoke out loud to herself as she flicked her cigarette before taking a drag from it and returning her eyes to the photos before her. She sighed as she shook her head to the thoughts running through her mind, Obama for president, I swear people in this country are idiots. Just glad this is his last term.

The redhead finished her drink and set the empty glass down on the bar as she grabbed the attention of the bartender. "Refill please," she stated before returning to her work. Once her drink was refilled she took another sip from it and set it back down on the bar before taking the last drag from her cigarette and died it out in the ashtray in front of her. With a soft sigh she lifted her camera into her hands and began taking photos of the bar, of course with the permission of the owner. Carter has been going there for years taking photos and surprisingly none of the patrons or employees seemed to have a problem with it.

Michael nodded his head solemnly, as the woman sitting at the bar in front of him ordered a refill. "Yes m'am." He smiled slyly, and did his magic, flipping and swishing liquids around, and sliding the glass towards her. "No problem." He muttered to himself, and his mind was somewhere else as he pondered his next mission in just a few hours. He needed to hurry up and get home soon.

He was lost in his thoughts when a bright flash nearly blinded him, and he shook his head, his hand resting on his waist where he'd hidden a pocket knife. "Bloody hell.. " He moaned, and looked at her. "Can you at least turn the flash off that thing?" He furrowed his eyebrows, and squinted at her.

ImageCarter was surprised when she heard the bartender ask her to turn the flash off. She hadn't realized the flash would bother him. She looked over at him as she turned the flash off, "Oh, sorry," she stated before taking a couple more photos and turning her camera off and set it down on the surface once more.

The redhead let out a sigh as she took a sip from her drink and returned her attention to the photos, finally setting her mind on the photo for the newspaper. She slid the photos into her bag and set it back down in front of her feet before lighting another cigarette. Carter really needed to find someone to hang out with, meet people, she's beginning to get tired of always being alone. She needs some sort of excitement in her life.

ImageAfter a few moments of sitting there listening to nothing more than her own thoughts, she was interrupted by the bartender, leaning on the bar, beginning to speak. "What's a little photographer like you, doing in a rundown bar like this?" she heard him state, followed by a chuckle. As he rubbed his forehead, her eyes were taken to the gash upon his forehead, she immediately began wondering where it came from. "I don't think I've seen you in here. Did you know Matt, the old bartender?" he questioned.

The petite redhead nodded her head at his question, "Actually, I did know him. We were quite close. He seemed to just disappear after a while," she responded. "Anyway, I'm..." she caught that he stopped mid sentence and looked down at his name tag, pulling it into view. "I'm Michael," he stated as she reached her hand back out to him and shook his hand. "Carter," she introduced with a friendly smile.

Carter took another drag from her cigarette as she retrieved her hand back to her own bubble. "How long have you worked here?" she questioned.

ImageCarter nodded her head at his answer and took another drag from her cigarette before answering his question about her photos. She shrugged her shoulders, "Not exactly sure. From time to time I make collages of places in town, etc. and this place always seemed to make me interested. Not sure what it is about this building, but it interests me," Carter answered.

It was the truth. Even when she was a child this building would draw her attention and back in those days she didn't know this was a bar. This building had a history to it, one that she eventually needed to research, maybe that would cure her curiosity, or maybe it would cause her curiosity to grow. But either way it went she needed to research this place. Get a bit more information about it.

Back when Carter was a teenager she was caught sneaking into the bar with a fake ID. Not to drink like most teenagers, but instead because of her steadily growing curiosity about the building itself. She wanted to see what it looked like on the inside, what it felt like to be inside this building. But that didn't answer any of her questions, it just created even more questions that she has yet to find the answers to.

ImageIt wasn't until he had mentioned her buying the place that it came into her head and it actually sounded like a grand idea. "I don't know. I think I might look into it though. This would be a nice building to have an antique shop. The building already is pretty old and as a bit of its own history," she continued thinking aloud.

The petite redhead smiled and returned her attention over to Michael, "Sorry, when I start thinking about things I tend to go on and on about it." She finished off her drink and stood to her feet and pulled a card out of her purse. "If you wouldn't mind, could you give this to your boss when you get the chance and ask him to call me, I really do want to buy this place from him, I see great potential in it," she added as she handed it to him.

Carter then dug in her wallet to pay for her drinks before handing that over to him too. "It was a pleasure meeting you. Have a nice night," she stated before making her way out the door, her heels clicking along behind her with every step.
