Sky

Male

"Are you one a' those slow types?"

17

None at the moment

"Not that it's any a' your business."

6'1"

Weight:
130lbs

Build:
Tall and thin. A little lanky, but has just the slightest bit of toning.

Eye Color:
Fuchsia

Hair Color:
Teal

Scars/Tattoos/Piercings:
Skylar favors hearts. No real reason, really, their design just suits his tastes somehow. To represent this, he has three little heart tattoos on the lower left area of his back; they're simple, and black, and go from biggest to smallest--the largest heart being on the bottom with the smallest on the top, like a stack of hearts. He has another heart in the same style and color right beside his right eye. He doesn't have any piercings, although he's always wanted to get a simple tongue ring. He actually got a friend to do it for him once and ended up taking it out a day later when his tongue swelled up and started turning green. Turns out, he was allergic to the metal they used. He couldn't eat or talk and he bled a lot...and, well, he just doesn't want to bother with any others right now or try that again. There's a few cuts and scrapes on him like any other rough-playing boy, but more notably is the burn mark on his right arm. Skylar keeps the burn covered by bandages. He's very self-conscious about it.

"Ah-ah, no touchy."

Description:
Skylar's got a sort of skinny, bony frame. He doesn't look like much, but don't let that mislead you. He's got a bit of muscle tone under that funky-looking shirt of his. It's not exactly enough to consider him a muscled-up guy, or even built, but he can handle himself. He's surprisingly pale for someone who's outside as much as he is, but that could probably be from his tendency to burn up like a tomato rather than tan. He's about average height for a growing boy his age and it's doubtful that he'll grow much taller than he already is. With his metabolism being as quick as it is without him really doing much, he doesn't have much room to grow. To say that he's average would be a huge understatement. Skylar's definitely got that look that draws all eyes to him. He's like a lightbulb being turned on in a dark, dusty room. Not only are his looks a complete exclamation point, but the way he carries himself, and even just the way he walks around, is all very attention-grabbing. Purposely, of course. He loves it. His hair is spiked out. You could hardly call it messy. He styles it that way. The only issue is that one obnoxious cowlick right behind his bangs. His hair compliments his watermelon-colored eyes well. They're good at expressing his emotions. Whatever he may be trying to hide in his facial expression can be clearly seen through his eyes.

"Let's talk about me some more."

Preferred Clothing:
Oh, man, what doesn't he wear? Skylar's typical clothing styles make it look like a rainbow threw up on him. Not only should the fashion police be arresting him for the abominations he calls his outfits, they should be holding him up to the highest extent of the fashion law. It's not that he just wears bright colors, either. Oh, no, he'll wear anything and everything as long as it does have color to it. Blacks, whites, and grays? Baw-ring! He needs to be seen! He needs to be shown off to the world! And what's the easiest way to do that? Through his fashion sense. It's really a wonder where he even gets the kind of stuff he wears. You'll certainly never see it on sale in a window somewhere. He likes color clusterfucks of designs. Most of the time, it'll look like he's wearing two different shirts that were torn apart and sewn together. His pants--preferably jeans--are usually torn up and his shoes are just as chaotic-looking as his shirts. The few things you'll rarely see him without are his prized headphones and mismatched gloves.

"Does this look good? I think this looks good."

MENTALITYImage
Oddities:
He gets excited really easily over the simplest or most random things. When he gets really excited, his breath will hitch in his throat and he'll just stop breathing with the biggest, fanboyish grin on his face. He also does this weird thing where he'll narrate his life out loud. Not every single thing he does, but occasionally, he might walk over to a vase and pick it up while describing his actions. It's mostly at random times. He doesn't always do it. He tends to pace when he gets nervous and he'll start out mumbling under his breath before his voice gradually gets louder until it sounds nearly hysterical--but he'd have to be pretty nervous or scared to get to that point anyway. He also tends to carry on conversations with himself, or may occasionally refer to himself in the third person, especially when he's narrating himself. When he does this, he'll call himself "The Sky."

"The Sky pointedly ignores the annoying peasant to study the more interesting paint drying on the wall."

Skills:
-Basic medical needs. This basically pertains to covering up a boo-boo, but definitely nothing to do with blood-gushing, death-impending wounds. He knows how to give someone CPR and he knows what to do if someone's bleeding, but that's about the extent to which he knows.

-Limber/flexible. Skylar's not like some sort of contortionist, but he can bend and move a little easier than most. He can get into some tighter spaces that most might find too uncomfortable to tolerate. He's not double-jointed, so he can't do anything really freaky or out of the ordinary, but he's in shape.

-Quick reflexes. He'll be the guy that can catch the vase before it hits the ground--within reason, of course. He can't fly across the room and snatch it up in a second, but he can quickly grab it if he's nearby. He has a quick-reaction time, too, so if he sees something at the last second going towards him, he can usually avoid it in the nick of time. Sometimes he might be unlucky, though.

-Obnoxiousness. It probably doesn't really sound like much--certainly not a skill, right?--but trust me on this. He has the ability to aggravate even the most level-headed of people. A poker-faced businessman? Forget that. With Skylar around, that business dude will be reduced to a red-faced, yelling mess, his hair in disarray and suit in tatters while Skylar wouldn't even break a sweat. He'll probably be laughing.

"Gasp! I've suddenly lost the ability to hear nonsense!"

Fears/Phobias:
-Atychiphobia. Fear of failure. He can do whatever he wants, be whatever he wants. It can be whenever, however, with whoever, or doing whatever. The only thing that can not happen is that he fails. He may not be the most attentive of people, or even the most motivated, but the one thing he refuses to let happen is fail. If he fails, even something small or trivial, then that's just one shot to the self-esteem. He'll constantly degrade himself for it.

-Soteriophobia. Fear of dependence on others. He wants to rely on himself and only himself. He knows himself. He knows he can trust himself. He's in his own head. There's nothing he has to worry about when it comes to himself. But other people? They can stab you in the back. He's afraid that just because they say one thing, they can do the complete opposite at any time they please. He hates that feeling of helplessness and and lack of control he has over the situation when he's relying or depending on another.

-Fear of having no control. Like what was stated above, he can't stand the idea of not having complete control over the situation or what's going to happen to him. That doesn't mean he needs to know everything that's going on, but if he wakes up one day and he's strapped to an unknown table in an unknown room surrounded by unknown people, then yeah, he's gonna freak out. He doesn't like being strapped down, in zero-gravity, or in a flying object (airplanes, helicopters, etc.). If he's in a vehicle, he has to be the one driving it.

-Pyrophobia. Fear of fire. It's as simple as that. He can tolerate controlled things like candles or maybe even a torch (although he'd be more wary the larger the fire is), but when it comes to uncontrolled flames, like a burning building or simply a paper on fire (since papers are not supposed to be set on fire--no way, no sir!), then he'll freak.

"Fears? HAH! Fears are for peasants. I'm a God!"

Personality:
Ah, how does anyone describe this guy? He's a complete... Well, he's not exactly right in the head, maybe. Eccentric. That's probably the nicest, easiest way to put it. He has a little more energy than is probably normal for a human being--in our time it might be considered ADHD--and is always yearning for something new to do. It can't just be anything either. It has to be something exciting and new and strange and something that nobody else would ever think of doing. These things can range from him balancing off the top of the tallest building to angering people bigger than him on purpose just for the rush of adrenaline and amusement he gets from running away from them. Of course, he wouldn't be all that concerned if he got caught considering his powers, but despite what he may say, or how he might seem to be, he doesn't really enjoy physical confrontations all that much. Too much can go wrong. He prefers verbal encounters.

Speaking of verbal, let's talk about how Skylar addresses others. Basically, he's a sarcastic jerk who has no issues telling you exactly what's on his mind. He's almost always honest and doesn't give a crap about your opinion, even though he'll gladly give his whether you asked him for it or not. He's the type of guy that would tell you exactly how fat those jeans make you look because no, he doesn't care if that makes you sad or upset. In fact, the idea that you even took something he said seriously just encourages him more. Sometimes he'll start up arguments just for the sake of entertaining himself and it isn't uncommon for him to choose the opposite side of a debate just to go against someone else, even if he doesn't even agree with anything he's saying. He's extremely selfish and for the most part doesn't care about what others think of him as long as he's in their thoughts. That's a win-win for him.

He's an odd guy with odd habits, though. Skylar judges people before he knows them and treats them based on the evaluation he gives them (because he's obviously on a higher level than everybody, so of course he has every right to judge as he pleases). If he deems someone unworthy or with a pointless existence, or just generally boring, then he'll treat them with utmost indifference and probably never directly talk to him. And if he does, then it's very snobbishly and without care for their feelings. If he deems someone at least moderately interesting, then he'll treat them with a little more common courtesy, although you'd be extremely lucky if he still didn't act like a total conceited prick towards you anyway. He likes to pick fun at people and if there's a flaw to find, you can be sure he'll point it out. He's definitely a little goofy acting with the way he tends to refer to himself in third-person and get into peoples' faces.

It's not hard to get Skylar excited about something worth getting excited over. It can be the most random thing too, like going out to try some new treat. If he gets excited over something, he'll go into complete fanboy mode and start babbling about it until he's just a mumbling background noise. "Fanboy mode" may also include jumping up and down, swinging the nearest person by the arms in a circle, or squealing incoherently. He gets excited just as easily as he gets bored, though. The second he gets bored, he's usually trying to find the first ticket out of the situation; this includes walking out of a conversation mid-sentence or dropping a person a moment after catching them. How he acts around someone just depends on how he judges when first meeting them. Don't worry, though--you're probably not even worth his time.

"Ohmygod. Oh. My. God. No way. No way! Nowaynowaynoway! This has to happen right now!!"

ImageCOMBAT
Preferred Weapon:
The only weapon Skylar fancies using is his simple, metal staff. It's made out of some sort of material that can withstand his strength. He has many backups in the case that he breaks one, which happens a lot.

Power(s):
Superstrength
Skylar has the ability to lift objects up to the weight equaling that of a large pick-up truck on average. Any more than that and it takes a lot of strain and he’s liable to hurt himself. He can squeeze a brick into bits and pieces without a problem, punch a hole through a steel vault, and lift a car with ease. However, he is able to maintain these powers, of course. It would be pretty bad if he went around breaking every hand he shakes. He’s very, very careful about it every time he hugs someone or shakes their hand and is able to do so quite well. However, if he’s put in a situation where he isn’t given time to actually think about what he’s doing—like, for instance, being pressured to "think fast"—he might accidentally let his powers ‘loose’ and over-do it. Oh yeah, just because he’s super-strong, doesn’t mean he’s invincible. Don’t take his powers the wrong way. If someone gets a well-placed hit on him, he can be knocked down. He can be beaten, battered, bloodied, and bruised just like the next guy, except, well, it just takes a little more to do it, especially if he gets his hands on you first.

"My powers are pret-ty cool, right?"

Abilities:
((I can't think of any that would go along with superstrength, so I'll just leave this blank so I can wait till you tell me if I need to have this filled or not))

Fighting Style:
Nothing too specific really. Skylar prefers to bring the enemy to him and isn't big on rough, tough, cue-ball fighting, despite his powers. He's fast on his feet, and a master at hide-and-seek, so he uses all that to his advantage, but he gets a little overwhelmed with close-combat fighting; so, despite being fast at dodging long-range attacks, close-up he can easily be taken off-guard. At first, he'll probably taunt the opponent, then when it gets serious, he'll evade them over and over and over again, maybe getting in a few daring (although probably clumsy) swings here and there until they finally get so exhausted they either give up or pass out. Usually the latter of the two. He's quite proud of this technique and doesn't find it cowardly in the least. Overall, his fighting style is not nearly perfect and...well, obviously, it's hardly a style at all.

"I fight perfectly fine! Come at me! No, wait, not the face!"

HISTORY
Relationship Status:
Single
Family:
Mother: Jeanette Paige. [Alive.]
Skylar and his mother got along well enough. They've grown apart over the years, though. When he was younger, she used to coddle him and read him bed time stories about the life tree and all the things that happened in the past with the people and the Goddess that they owed their existence to. She taught him about morality and fairy tales. She would sneak him sweets after bed time while she read to him and tucked him in and, overall, he had it pretty good with her. Of course, as a mother, she would punish him when he needed punishing--and she has always been a very strict woman--but he would pout and throw a hissy fit and deal with it, then move on with life like any other young child. As he grew older, however, she started leaving him to his own devices. She became despondent towards him and focused more on his sister. He was less than ten when she seemed to forget about him completely. He began loathing her for it.
Father: Jameson Paige. [Alive.]
Skylar and his father started off fine. His father was always a little strained and focused more on his religious studies than on his family life, but when he had the chance he and Skylar would play little games or go exploring. His father would tell him stories that his mother wouldn't and teach him about morals. Jameson always emphasized the importance of respecting the Goddess that gave them life and respecting others, even though he was a complete and total hypocrite. Skylar's father never seemed to follow his own words. He'd tell Skylar it was wrong to do something and to never do it, then go off and do it himself. He was not a good role model and Skylar learned from an early age to not take him seriously. When his sister came along, he got none of his father's time and decided he simply didn't want it anyway. He speaks poorly of his father whenever anyone asks.
Sister: Karri Paige. [Alive.]
Karri is Skylar's younger sister by seven years. They have a sort of on and off strained relationship. Skylar secretly enjoys playing the part of a good older brother by spoiling her when their parents won't and giving her whatever she asks for, but at the same time, he'll pretend to despise her and talk badly about her when he's around their parents. Karri seems to look up to him and tends to follow by his example more than their parents', but when anyone's around, Skylar acts like he wants nothing to do with her. It's only when they're alone that he'll act sweet and brotherly. Deep down (or maybe it's more obvious than that), he's jealous of her.
Personal History/Background:
Skylar had a pretty normal life when he was younger. He had a loving mother and a...crude father, but that wasn't anything he couldn't handle. His mother and father would fight a lot, but it was only ever arguing or yelling and never anything physical. He never once saw either of them cry, so he never concerned himself with it too much. His mother would coddle him more than anything. He loved her a lot and listened to anything she had to tell him. He would even do as she asked, like chores and eating his vegetables and other things that most other kids would normally be against just because he wanted to see her smile and hear her praise him for being a good boy.

Every once in a while, he would spend some time with his father who, for all intents and purposes, was a total hypocrite. He'd say one thing and do another and eventually, Skylar caught on to it and learned to stop listening to the things his father told him. His father would say never to disrespect a woman and then go off and curse his mother out, so Skylar began to learn that the world wasn't like it seemed. People lie, people cheat, people aren't as good as they try to make themselves out to be. So he began to get sick of every smiling face and cheery attitude. He began considering those people liars and wanted nothing more than to put them down just to bring their faces around to reality.

This was all while he was still young, though. At the age of seven, his sister Karri was born. He didn't think much of it at first and even sort of liked the idea of having a little sibling to play with. That all changed when he realized his mother and his father stopped paying attention to him altogether. It wasn't an immediate change, but it happened quick and extreme enough for him to notice. Within a year or two, his mother, who used to be all over him almost constantly, was suddenly spending all her time with Karri. Every time Skylar asked for a little attention, she'd say, "Not now, Skylar" or "Go see your father" or "I'm busy right now." Even his father stopped looking at him. They started walking on eggshells with each other. Instead of arguing with his mother, Skylar's father started getting into arguments with him. His mother always blamed him for them and always told him that he was upsetting his sister and that he really should be more considering. Yeah, as if that little homewrecker didn't have enough people considering her needs already.

So basically in just a matter of a year or two, Skylar went from getting all the attention he could ever ask for to getting no attention at all. He went from being a momma's boy to mommy's second-best. Everything Karri did was just so much more spectacular than what he could do. She was just so more more interesting, even if she was just a drooling, babbling little toddler. His attitude began changing. He grew a darker mindset and he started acting out for attention. Something in the back of his mind always told him that he should respect what he was given thanks to the Goddess, but he always brushed it off because that was what his dad always told him--and it's not like his dad ever followed any of his own rules anyway, so why should Skylar?

"They can all suck it. I don't need family holding me back."

OTHER:
Skylar swings either way, ladies and gentlemen. *winkwink* But just because he flirts with you (which is possible) doesn't mean he likes you. He might do it just because he thinks it'd annoy you and there's nothing he loves more than annoying people.
