"When you can do anything, you tend to not want to do anything"
Above all one must remember that Vlad is extraordinary lazy. He is one of the oldest vampires in the coven second only to the valiant leader Adrian. His laziness is astounding as he will not engage in relationships with vampires because he believes it’s too tedious and the drama would interrupt with his nap time. He will follow orders however as to decline orders would only cause commotion and complaining, and he might have to fight someone which would be counterproductive to his lazy nature.
Vlad has a great sense of humor and will not like someone if they have little to no humor. Adrian is a bore, and Vlad does not like speaking to him as he finds it straining and truly a chore. Adrian is to phish-posh and has no sense of humor which makes the leader someone he does not like to spend time around.
Vlad has never infected a human with his curse because than he would have to teach the human how to be a vampire and if you haven’t caught on yet that would be against his code of laziness. He has never loved anyone and there is a good chance he never will although he is a kind vampire as being nice is easier than being mean.
He carries a old flintlock pistol, a cob-pipe with thin bag of tobacco, a pocket bible, a zippo lighter, and a flask all arranged in his many jean pockets.
Vlad was once a member of the Prussian army in Europe fighting in the war against Napoleon. He was a Lieutenant and considered himself a damn good soldier. He had begun fighting in the war at 16 and it had continued until his defeat 4 years later. At 20 Vlad was sent overseas as part of a detachment serving with the British soldiers as they fought the Americans in a war that would be later known as the War of 1812. He didn’t know why they were fighting and truly didn’t care, he just wanted to get it done and go home.
At one of the many battles across America he was shot and severely wounded. Grasping his pistol, he limped into the nearby forest leaving behind him a long bloody trail. He had to get out before the American Regulars found him, and in his panic and blood loss he got lost in the forest eventually collapsing. A man stepped forth from the shadows, and Vlad could barely make him out as his vision was blurring. The man offered to save him… to bring him back to life and in his desperation Vlad begged the man to save him and much to his surprise the man bit him on the neck drawing what little blood he had left. With his world darkening he cursed the man for betraying him.
He awoke days later in a strange building with even stranger people… his days as a vampire had begun. 200 years would pass as vampires died and were reborn. At first Vlad abused his immortality; he took what he wanted and enjoyed all the pleasures that came with immortality… but soon he found that all things slowly lost their flavor. His point for waking up was lost. He had no reason to move, no reason to get up in the morning so he didn’t. He started to sleep all the time, and slowly faded back into the shadows of the coven. He watched the upstart Adrian as he was banished than came back, and watched with disinterest and minor annoyance as the vampire Adrian killed the old.. or should he say newer regis? As for a brief time the title of Regis passed several hands rather quickly and finally ended up in Adrians hands.
Personally Vlad was just happy the whole succession business was done with, it caused a lot of racket. Many of the vampires began to take notice of him realizing that he was indeed one of the oldest vampires and wondered if he would challenge Adrian, but he had no intention to. The burdens of leadership were not something he would ever desire.
