Amber just stood there, seeing the alien creature slowly die from a poison in his veins. Her hand was on the blue box along with another boys. How they ended up there had been mere coincidence. She was going to the park that evening, to avoid another loud argument her parents seemed to have nightly. She didn't even realize he was there. That was a shocker to her really, she didn't expect anyone to be there.
That was when she had seen it coming near her. A falling star... no a spaceship. He had shoved her out of the way just in time. A scrape on her arm was all she had gotten, because of him. She was lucky. If he wasn't there, she would've been crushed in a heart beat. The door had opened to the spaceship and a centuar/scorpien hybrid seemed to limp out with a small box in his hands.
He collapsed, and Amber couldn't help but run over to him, to see if he was ok. He gave her the whole schpeel of how he was an alien sent here to save their race, how these slug like creatures took control of everyone and wiped out anyone who resisted. He was one of the few who resisted, who fought back.
There was a poison in his veins, for there was no cure for. Not on Earth, not on his home planet. Amber and Theo were Earth's last chance, to gather an army, and save Earth. His last gift to them was his ability to morph. To take the shape of any animal they touched. Only for two hours, any longer than two hours, they were stuck as that creature.
Even knowing the cautions of taking this ability, she still touched the box, it felt warm to the touch, and she could feel the power literally enter her body. The alien, who said he was an Anadalite, died as they took the power of morphing. Breaking the cube into two halves, Theo had one, and she had one, they both had agreed to hide it where the other would never know.
Going home, she kept the box in her purse, and passed out. Her hair and makeup messed up, her clothing covered in dirt and grime. Yet, she didn't seem to care, she was exhausted, and she wanted that night to be over with.
Waking up the next day, she showered and changed into a pair of jeans and a baseball styled tee shirt, with black and teal pumps. What happened at the park, she deemed to just be a dream. Nothing more.
As she was dropped off at the school she held her head high, and walked in the building, ready to start a new day.... ironically, a new life.
