a character in “Another Chance”, as played by ThrillerNight

Description

Name: Amory Emil Hoffmann
Age: 17
Looks: Image
Home town: Portland, Oregon
Reason for leaving: After his dad left when he was nine, his mother spent most of her time at home or at work- it was always just the two of them and that's the way they liked it. Suddenly about a two and a half years ago she started going out at night and not coming home after work. Four months into this, she brought home a man saying that he wanted to marry her and adopt Amory. Well, everything seemed like it was going fine after the wedding, but then his mom got pregnant. After the baby was born the three of them just seemed like the perfect family and Amory felt like he was getting in the way of what could have been the perfect family- so he left. Amory spent some time wondering around from crummy motel to park bench before he found this apartment complex.
Likes: Amory spends much of his time painting and drawings- his apartment is filled with canvases and he spends all of his extra money on art supplies. He also loves to read- classic books like The Great Gatsby and This Side of Paradise- although he can't afford to buy books very often and thus rereads them constantly or checks out old copies from the library. Despite his artsy and calm demeanor he also loves to box and used to train at a gym in Portland three times a week before he left. If someone asked, his favorite music would be Frank Sinatra and Michael Buble; although he hates to admit it, his guilty pleasure is listening to pop music, and he has been secretly listening to One Direction non-stop for some time.
Dislikes: Whither it's because he's a bit asthmatic- surprising considering all the time he spends working out- or just because he hates the smell, he can't stand smoking or people that do. He's also very picky with food and this list of what he doesn't like goes on far longer than what he does- for instance he hates mashed potatoes, peas, spaghetti, cucumbers, squash, fast food, tacos, and a whole lot more. Amory also can't swim and thus really hates and fears water.
A little background on your self: Amory has always been more on the quiet side- when he was young his mother told him that he lived in his own world and people were just lucky if they managed to be a part of it. What this really means, unfortunately, is that he misses a lot of conversations that go on around him and its incredibly hard to get his attention. Oddly enough, he has a photographic memory and can recall any visual detail without a problem- which can be frustrating when someone wants him to recall a conversation and he can only remember what pair of shoes or socks they were wearing.
Anyway, this quiet and aloof demeanor has made it hard for Amory to connect to people in the past. All throughout school he only had a few close friends, but none of them he felt close enough to to keep him from leaving. He's trying to get better and stay more attached to the real world and hopes that this will help him start a new life.

My favorite movie is... Monty Python and the Holy Grail!

Long strides ate up the pale cement rapidly as the tall boy skimmed down the sidewalk- the heels of his ragged, black boots barely touching the asphalt as he hurried along. Face plastered to the small scrap of paper held tightly between two charcoal-stained hands, Amory forced himself to concentrate on the paper; he'd already been searching for the address for over an hour and half and it wasn't because he couldn't remember it, there was just too much to distract him on this particular block. A heavy sigh escaped the boy's lips as he shut his dark, chocolate eyes in an effort to concentrate. Come on- just a little further- this time for sure! His inner dialogue chanted over and over, accompanying the image of the address scrawled on the paper now folded into his fist.
Inhaling deeply, Amory slowly opened his eyes- keeping a tight reign on them less they get distracted yet again. Finally his eyes lighted on a near-by apartment building and he quickly hastened toward the placard out front, Just check the address- that's all. Just check... But it was too late, his concentration was gone. Skimming one hand along the stone fence the teen found the other shoving the crumpled slip into the pocket of his thread-bare jeans before swinging the large hiker's backpack off his shoulders and onto the ground.
A second later he was sitting on top of the granite with a sketchpad balanced precariously on his knee and a stick of charcoal in his left hand as he quickly analyzed the building and pool in front of him. Again he closed his eyes, a perfect image of the building popping up behind his lids; and then- with his eyes still closed- he began to sketch with quick, sure strokes. Although he didn't often draw buildings, there was something about this one that had caught his eye and kept him sitting in the hot sun as he drew and gazed at its exterior with a single-minded focus.
"Finished!" The single word popped from his mouth, almost surprising him. Holding up the quick sketch he smiled at it for a moment before his expression sobered and his eyebrows drew together into a concentrated line. Since he was already speaking, he voiced his next thought aloud, "Wait a moment... I think I know this place..." Amory quickly set down the sketch pad and bent over awkwardly to look down on the plaque attached to the wall below him.
"Ah ha! Knew it!" A smile spread across his face as he lept from the short wall, sketch pad in hand. With a single motion he threw the heavy pack over his shoulder and headed straight up the path and into the front lobby. Once inside his smile grew and he continued, "I knew this place seemed familiar- it's the place I was looking for. The address with the cheap apartments." With that pronouncement he turned on the spot- suddenly noticing the two women occupying the room- one sitting and another behind the desk.
"Ah- umm... I'm Amory Hoffmann... I think I rented a room here?" Reaching into his pocket with blackened fingertips he extracted the much-crumpled sheet of paper and held it out to the woman behind the desk. "I was told this address was it... or should be it..." He couldn't quite remember if that was correct, but he did know the address was right, and therefore this had to be the place.
A relieved sigh escaped him when the woman behind the desk reassured him he had arrived in the correct location. After receiving his key and being told he could drop off his luggage in his room, Amory nodded and headed for the stairs. Opening the door to his new flat he didn't even bother to look around- focusing instead on trying to remember to return to the lobby-, dropped off his heavy, over-flowing backpack, and hurried back down to the lobby- sketch pad still in hand.

Danni smiled as she saw the people she assumed they were waiting on come and wait. The first girl was a pretty blonde who said her name was Tesla. "I'm Danni, I am in room 25 on the second floor. So where are you from?" The next person was a tall guy who was quiet and didn't say much. She noticed a drawing pad in his hands. The next was a brunette, Danni had overheard that she was in room 26. When she sat down Danni looked over at her. "Hey, I'm Danni, looks like we are neighbors!" The last two people to show up were guys who sat farther away. Danni just smiled at them both. As the receptionist came over to start the tour Danni stood up. The tour was really short, it was just showing them where the pool was and the gym and they even had a spa. Danni turned to Tesla, "I could sure use a massage" After the tour the group was told they could do what ever they wanted and to welcome. Danni turned to the three boys. "Well since I have already met these two, I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Danni."

Dark eyes swept the room, watching as another girl appeared only to vanish into hall, and then reappear a moment or two later minus the bag she had been carrying. Not bothering to sit or to hide his curiosity, Amory roamed the edges of the room as subsequently two more people appeared in the large lobby- this time both of them men. The young boy noted their position in the room unconsciously as he stood beneath the windows- tapping his black-tipped fingers against the pale, clean pages of his sketch book. As he watched the bright California sun illuminate the stands of trees and the waters of the fountain outside the windows, he found himself lost in the beauty of the outside world; in fact, he was almost too gone thinking about what colors he would use to represent the glow of the sun on the waters that he didn't notice when the woman began to gather the group up to show them around.
At the last moment Amory turned and saw everyone else heading from the room. Blinking slowly he ghosted after the other guests, his fingers skimming lightly down the halls as the receptionist led his new neighbors around the grounds. He caught little of what the woman said as she guided them, but easily memorized the lay-out of the ground as he walked- noting the location of the pool and gym in particular, to avoid the former and explorer the latter at a later time. Before he realized it the tour was over, and he nearly ran into the man in front of him as they suddenly stopped in the previous location.
A new voice caught his attention and he turned from his contemplation of the man's nice suit jacket to the blonde that seemed to be addressing the other males as well as himself. Running a hand through his dark, messy hair he processed what he had caught of her words and realized she was introducing herself. Before his attention managed to wonder again the other blonde introduced herself as Tesla- what a unique namehe mused to himself. And suddenly he realized with a jerk that he should probably be doing the same. And so, offering the group his best smile and gesturing absently with his sketchpad and charcoaled fingers he spoke up, "I'm Amory. Amory Hoffmann. But just Amory is fine I suppose. Ah- I'm on the second floor.... I forget the number."

Arriving back to the lobby, she took a sit next to two girls. "Hey, I'm Danni, looks like we are neighbors!" One of them turned to her and said. Leslie smiled at her. "Hi, Danni. I'm Leslie, nice to meet you." Soon other two tenants arrived and when the receptionist came up to them, it was clear to Leslie that they were all here and the tour was about to start. They were showed the pool, the gym and the spa and Leslie was once again amazed that the apartment that had all these ''luxuries'' would be so cheap.

"I could sure use a massage." She heard Danni tell Tesla. She smiled to herself and started thinking about going for a swim later, but her smile soon turned into a frown when she remembered the bruises on her body. Not wanting anyone to see them she dismissed that idea. She would have to wait until they completely heal.

When the tour finished they were told that they were free to go and do whatever they wanted, and Leslie was about to go back to her room when Danni turned to the other tenants and introduced herself. The other blonde then proceeded and told them that her name was Tesla. Then a young guy, probably still in his teens spoke up with a smile. He kept absentmindedly gesturing with his sketchpad and Leslie noticed his charcoaled fingers. Her art teacher Amanda, came to her mind. She used to come to classes with her fingers covered in charcoal, or paint smeared on her face or clothes. Suddenly she remembered that on her graduation Amanda gave her her phone number and mentioned something about having an art gallery in California. She just hoped that she still had her phone number somewhere. The young guy, Amory, finished his introduction and Leslie stepped forward to introduce herself.
"I'm Leslie Parker." she said looking at everyone. "I'll be living on the second floor as well, room 26." She smiled and added. "Nice meeting you."

As he was sat down John watched the other people around him, two young men had now joined and a brunette woman, the two men seemed quite young especially one who barely looked 18. The woman was very attractive but it looked like there was something on her mind. None of the people who were going to be his new neighbours seemed like the sort of people he usually hung around with; they seemed more pleasant and brighter. Standing up from his seat, John followed the tour and the other new inhabitants of the apartments. It wasn't to much of a tour, just really the swimming pool and some other extras that the building had, like a gym. After the tour he saw the brunette woman frowning about something so John just smiled at her too make her feel at ease, maybe she hadn't lived alone before and was a bit nervous.

When they finished the tour, people started introducing themselves. Everyone seemed so polite and kind, John wasn't used too this sort of company, usually when people were like this they were wanting something in his world, but nonetheless he would play along. "Hi everyone, cool to meet you all" he said in his strong London accent. "Im John, im in room 31 on the third floor." Then John remembered about the club he was opening, that could be the perfect way to get too know them all, if he was going to live in the same building with them he wanted to know who exactly they were. He put some leaflets on the table that showed a large cartoon vixen. "Why don't you guys come too the club im opening in town called the Vixen tonight, i'll get you all in the VIP area, we open at 11pm. When you get there just show them these leaflets and ask for John Holder and security will take you into the VIP area and give you free champagne" John told the group, smiling brightly.

Danni looked at the flyer that John had put on the table. Dancing....it had been too long. The need to dance in some way was eating at her, but it reminded her to much of Jack. She shook her head slightly. Come on Danni, you are starting over here. She looked up at John. And he isn't bad looking, She thought to herself. "Sounds great, I'll be there." She smiled at him flirtatiously. "Until then I think I am going to unpack and hit the pool." Danni looked over at the bunch. "It was nice meeting you guys." She smiled and walked away putting a little wiggle in her hips. She was excited to be able to go out and flirt with whoever she wanted. The past was behind her and she was going to make damn sure that's where it stayed.

She walked into her apartment and was in complete awe. The furniture was beautiful and a king size bed all for her? She couldn't believe it. This place was amazing. She started unpacking her clothes and other things. She had quite a bit of cash saved up but she knew it would run out eventually. She stopped an thought for a moment. Maybe if things went well at the club tonight she could ask John to work there. Once she got her bags all un packed she put on her favorite neon green bikini and her sunglasses and went down to the pool. She decided to get some sun before going in the water.

Watching the sunlight dance through the open windows in a twirl of unusual shades, Amory found himself wondering what it would be like to live in a place where nearly every day looked like it did today and what effect-if any-this intensely bright weather would have upon his paintings. As he day dreamed, watching a tiny particle of dust swirl it's way around the head of the thin brunette girl, the others introduced themselves and he managed to catch a couple of their names. Leslie... John... Ah, what was the other one? He mused quietly to himself as his dust speck finally settled itself on the girl's shoulder.
As the focus of his attention disappeared he realized that something had occurred he should probably be paying attention to. Scanning the room quickly he instantly realized one of their number had disappeared and another was on her way out of the room- blonde curls swaying as she sashayed into the hall. The second thing he noted was the sudden materialization of a set of flyers that displayed a fox-like woman, or was it a woman like fox? Deciding to investigate further, Amory slipped around the elegantly dressed man that must have been the John he'd heard introduce himself a moment ago and grabbed one of the laminated sheets.
"A club, huh? This could be interesting..." mumbling to himself he turned the paper over and over in his hands as he examined the drawing gracing the majority of the page. Amory had never been to a club, and not wholly because he wasn't technically old enough to visit one, he'd spent most of his teenage years thus far either helping him mom, in the gym, or working in his school's art studio. However, this was a new life and he figured it wouldn't hurt to try and be a little more social- it never occurred to him he might not be allowed in the club or that he might have to produce an id to enter.
So- his decision made- he slid the flyer into the pocket of his torn, black-leather jacket and turned his attention back to the remaining tenants still in the lobby. If he was going to try and expand his social repertoire, he might as well get a head start now. Unfortunately he wasn't exactly sure how to go about doing that, so he settled for standing awkwardly beside his new neighbors, clutching his sketchbook between his hands, and staring at first one- than another- very intently.

John was hoping that they would want too go, it was a great way for him too find out about them, see if he could trust them. Danni seemed very keen to go to the Vixen "Sounds great, I'll be there." she said. John noticed a little flirty smile towards him, He thought Whats that all about, usually I have too show off a bit more, all he could think of what to do is smile back. He watched her as she left the room, he scratched the back of his head giving a small chuckle to himself. John checked his watch, he had to get to the club soon and make sure everything was prepared for tonight, absolutely nothing could go wrong, if it did, he could be out of this town as quick as he came in.

John noticed one of the other men pick up a leaflet, Amory his name was if he remembered rightly. He noticed the black marks on his fingers, he thought He must be the arty type, not usually who I hang around with but the guy seems ok, he doesn't look a threat to me. "Hey man, cool, your coming tonight, but before you do, wash your hands" John joked with him, smiling. From behind John he heard "It looks dope!", it was the other cute blonde, her name was Tesla. " You really know what your doing" she continued, she gave him a wink and tapped his arm. John joked to himself I must be better than I thought, or maybe its just the accent. John watched her as she kept talking to her, she was stunning he thought to himself, most girls who looked like her would normally be a bit more stuck up but she seemed so fun and kind. "Is it staffed already? I mean excuse me if I'm too forward..." Tesla said, John had to think for a second, was she just being so nice and flirty because she wanted a job or was she just naturally like this, "but if there's any position open, I'd love to fill it. "Promotionist, Bartender....Dancer..." she continued. John just played along, he guessed he would get to know her more later at the club, "we've still got a few places going, if anyone else wants a job just ask i'll see what we can do, but we can talk about that another time, tonight lets just have some fun." John saw that the brunette girl hadn't picked one up yet. John took a leaflet and handed her one, "hey, come down tonight, it'll be fun" he smiled charmingly at her. John looked around the room,Wheres the other guy, maybe he's gone up to his room, it was 37 wasn't it? he thought. John left the room checking his watch still and went up to the third floor. He walked down the corridor looking for the room, he found it. John knocked on the door waiting for a response. The young man answered the door wearing a towel, he thought for a second, this guy looks like he should still be in school. But John thought that it wouldn't hurt for him to come the security would let him in with that leaflet and if he mentioned Johns name, "hey kid, sorry if I interrupted you, just thought i'd ask you to come to my club tonight, everyone else is coming, it'll be fun. Just mention me and you'll get in no questions asked. Well i better get going, got to go sort some things out." John said. He gave the guy the leaflet and hurriedly left.

John had to get to the club, he rushed out of the building and into a cab. When he got to the club people were preparing all over the building, it was like a military operation, everyone knew what they were doing. Michael, Johns supervisor, was good at his job, his record showed it, he had managed in 10 clubs all other LA, a perfect choice. John went up to the VIP area to relax with a glass of champagne seeing as everything was going well. The club opened at 11 on the dot and people started flooding in, John just stood at a balcony watching and smiling at how profitable a night it would be. Now all he had to do was wait for security to bring up his new friends when they arrived.

Although Johns answer left Tesla with more questions than before, she just smiled sweetly and held the leaflet tight, "Alright I'll see you there, then." She shrugged and looked at the time, it was only 7:00, but the sun was still shining bright. 'I think I'm going to love Cali.' She thought to herself. What did he say his name was again? John Holgan? Looking up from the leaflet, she looked at Leslie and Armory. They didn't seem like the type that rolled with this scene- but once they got in there and had a few drinks she was sure they'd have fun. "I have my truck we can take- but I don't know how they do parking, if it's anything like Chicago we're better off taking a cab." Mentally she recounted how many people were in the house, "I'll call a couple taxis, lets meet back in the lobby at 10:30!" Tesla said, hoping to get them amped for tonight. She thought back to the beach and decided she had an hour or so to kill.
Since Tesla's room was the only one on the first floor, she began to come up with a list of advantages for this fact as she returned to her room and unpacked some. Managing to pick out a cap sleeved low V dress completely covered with dark silver sequins- she figured that's all the packing she had the energy to do right now. Now was a good time if any to catch some sun rays. The beach popped in her mind again, but she knew she probably didn't have enough time to go to the beach, come back and be ready by 10:30. Resigning her plans for the beach for some other day, Tesla slipped into one of her simple two piece swimsuits, tying her hair into a messy bun on the top of her head.
Before she walked out, Tesla made sure to get her tanning oil, towel and a magazine. Remembering the tour, she followed the path she believed to be going to the pool.
As she neared the pool, she spotted a few good spots setting her stuff on the chair next to her. Immediately Tesla began slathering herself with the oil, glistening in the sun. She was sure she could catch a glow if she sat in the sun for an hour or so. "Do you want some?" She said, offering the tanning oil. Tesla stretched out her towel over the lounge chair, getting comfy before she closed her eyes and just basked in the warmth of the sun. Once it was 8, Tesla could practically feel herself glowing. She was happy she had chosen to tan someone. She returned to her room, only to hear a knock on her door. Danni was asking if Tesla was going to the club. "Oh that works out because I never called the taxi's. Just give me a little bit to finish getting ready." She said, then setting herself into getting ready mode. She linked up her iPhone to her ihome, blaring Indie Alternative music as she got ready. One shower, three shades of eye shadow and some eye liner and a tapered curling iron later, Tesla was ready. The sequined dress hugged her curves like it was made for her, and the black heels she wore made her legs seem like they went on forever. In vain, Tesla took an extra ten minutes of just primping, simply enjoying looking at herself in the mirror.
Finally she grabbed her studded hand bag and was out the door. Hopping in the cab with the other girls, Tesla eyed them both. "We are too Hott Girls! Going to leave everyone panting after us." She mildly joked, then turning to face out the window. In no time they were there. Getting in was a breeze, Tesla hadnt even needed the leaflet or an ID, she just followed Danni. Danni shouted something about a drink, Tesla nodded in agreement. Although it was packed, eventually the bartender gave Tesla her dirty martini, she threw the change in the tip jar and turned to face the club. There was so much going on. Dancing a little as she sipped on her martini, Tesla realized Leslie had a drink as well. "Cheers!" Tesla shouted over the music, clinking glasses and taking a large gulp of her drink. 'Time to dance.' She thought to herself, twirling the olive in her drink before throwing back the last of her drink. She bit the olive off the plastic sword, placing her drink on the nearest surface and then joining the crowd. So many people were dancing already, Tesla couldn't tell who was who once she got too deep into the crowd. There was something extremely liberating about dancing. She could feel the music, her body was just trying to keep up. Random people would dance with her for a few seconds, only for someone else to come along shortly after. This was fun, maybe John wasn't as sketchy as she had presumed. Taking a break she returned to the bar, ordering another drink.

"Wash your hands" huh? Amory replayed the older man's words in his mind as he held up his fingers to his face; he had to admit, they did look rather a bit off-putting, like an old coal worker's or a homeless man's. The latter thought had him smiling to himself, as it was closer to accurate than anyone would have guessed since he'd slept on a park bench for the last three nights. Curling the offending digits closed one by one he turned his dark gaze upwards to watch the small crowd he'd been standing with disperse to their individual duties. After blinking once or twice the young boy decided he should probably go off and wash his hands; surreptitiously he sniffed his clothes, and wrinkling his nose realized that it should actually be a full-body shower. So without saying anything else he hurried off up the stairs- taking them two at a time- as he pondered over how long it had been since he'd taken a decent shower.
Locating his room was easy- all he had to do was remember the layout and the direction he had walked before- and this time he made a note of the room number. "Ah- 21! 21-21-21-21-21!" Amory repeated the number aloud to himself as he slid the key into the lock and shouldered the door open. A second later he was sprawled across the plush carpet- staring at the legs of the expensive sofa as he silently berated himself for having left his bag so close to the door. With a heavy sigh he pushed himself to his knees and then scuttled across the floor on all fours toward where he assumed the bathroom would be, too lazy to stand up again. Keeping his stained fingers as far off the cream carpet as he could while still using his hands to propel himself forward the tall boy waited until he'd crossed the wooden floors into the pale tile of the bathroom before popping up quickly onto his feet.
The artist in him took a good long minute to admire the sleek, modern lines of the large bathroom that connected to his new bedroom. After running a finger along the glass rim of the sink in admiration Amory was reminded why he had come into the bathroom in the first place by the smudged of charcoal left on the pristine surface.
Stripping off his heavy boots and all of his dirty clothing he reached into the shower and turned it to scalding hot before turning to appraise himself in the huge mirror attached to the wall. Wrinkling his nose at the weight and muscle he had lost in the past month or so he spoke to his reflection, "Looks like you need to start eating better and to find a new gym... Though I guess a job should come first." He pulled a face at himself before hopping into the steaming water.
A short scrub later- having used the provided soaps and shampoos- Amory left the shower feeling a whole lot more like himself. Next he wrapped a towel around his lower body and collected his clothes from the floor before heading back to open his gigantic backpack. Again he sniffed at the few articles of clothing he'd brought with him, gagging at the smell before sighing, "Ugh- it all needs to be washed.." The clock on the stove proclaimed it to be almost eight o'clock, which meant he had just enough time to put them through a cycle to make it to the club's opening. After pushing all of his clothes into the large washing machine and selecting a short cycle he headed back to unpack the rest of his backpack- pulling out a mountain of art supplies and canvases, and setting them around the clean apartment.
A few hours later he was ready to leave for the club. Zipping up the collar of a jacket he had made for himself a year or so ago, throwing on a black jacket over it, and checking his straightened hair in the mirror Amory hoped he looked good enough to visit the club. At the last minute he remembered the flyer he'd stuffed into the pocket of his other jacket and grabbing it hurried out the door. After using the receptionist's phone to dial a cab he was on his way to the club. Completely ignoring the line of people in front of the door he headed straight to the bouncer and nervously handed him the crumpled flyer. Amory was surprised to be immediately pushed through the heavy door and into a crowd of constantly moving people.
The next thing he knew he was being shuffled across the dance floor by the waving bodies and arms- unable to locate anything in the flashing lights and crowd of people. Suddenly a pair of long arms clasped themselves around his neck and a highly intoxicated woman who looked to be in her thirties was pulling him down to her. Unsure of what to do as the woman ground her body against him, the teenage boy held his hands aloft and searched the surrounding crowd for help and a familiar face.

John watched the crowd getting larger and larger from his balcony, everything was going well, people were having fun, laughing, drinking and most importantly putting money in Johns pocket. Maybe life was better here than at home he thought. He then heard someone say hello from behind him, John looked around, it was Danni. She looked even more beautiful than the last time he saw her in that white dress. He struggled not to just stand there with his jaw hitting the floor, so her just went up to her and stuttered "h-hey Danni, welcome to the Vixen." He then kissed her on both cheeks politely and gave her some champagne. John invited Danni to sit down with him by the balcony on some couches. They both sat down, "so how do you like my place?" He took a swig of his champagne and carried on talking to her, "i'd like to get to know you a bit more, I didn't really get a chance to talk to anyone really earlier, where are you from? You got any hobbies? a boyfriend?" He just let her answer everything about herself, he would reel of a question and she would just answer, Johns tactic had two parts, one to find out if her could trust her and two because he thought a lot of women liked talking about themselves, made them feel like they were special that a guy wanted to know everything about them.

They carried on talking, then John heard "Hey! Fancy seeing you two here!", it was Tesla, she looked a little drunk as she came to the top of the stairs. John wasn't surprised she seemed like the type of girl that liked to enjoy herself and when she went out she tried to have as much fun as possible. "Hey Tesla" John said as he stood up straitening his suit up as he approached her to greet her in the same way as he did Danni with two kisses on the cheek. After that she excitedly went up to the table that had the champagne and said "Champagne! For me? John Holder you're just too much!". John just replied with "I always aim to please." She looked just as good as Danni, Wow, how lucky can a guy get, I love this country he thought smiling to himself. Tesla started drinking from a glass that she had poured, she seemed so happy and excited as she joked and laughed with John and Danni. Then she gave a couple of cute winks. Then she said "Are you guys having fun?!". John nodded smirking. He looked over the balcony at the club again, as he turned his back to the girls he somehow managed to catch a recognizable face, it was that Amory guy, an older woman was dancing in front of him, John thought so he did wash his hands, he's even getting cougars now smiling to himself. John got up and talked to one of the bouncers "theres a guy on the dance floor at the moment wearing a black jacket, looks kinda young" John pointed to him, "he's a friend of mine, bring him up, cheers mate." he said to the bouncer. John went back to the girls, "looks like that Amory guy is here". John picked up his drink and had a sip and looked at Tesla and started to ask some of the questions he did with Danni. He started to joke around and get more drinks, showing off like he loved to do. "Do you girls have anything to ask from me?" he said, it was only polite to let them get to know them a bit more, even if he did lie about a lot of it.

Just as he was sure no one was coming to help and the overly made-up woman began to try and pull him down to her for a kiss- her breathe causing him to wrinkle his nose in disgust-, a strong hand grabbed him by the collar of his black jacket while the other pried the woman off of him. Standing between them now was a muscle-bound man that couldn't have been anything other than a bouncer; Amory was certain this is where he normally should have made his escape, but right now this man was his savior and he was just too relieved to do anything other than stand there as the other man forced the drunk woman to back off. Before he'd had a moment to catch his breath he was being drug off through the crowd after the other man, forced to lean down because although the bouncer was bulkier he was several inches shorter than Amory.

As they walked-or stumbled-the bouncer pulled Amory down to yell into his ear over the pumping bass, "The boss sent me to save you. Then he told me to bring you up there." With that he pointed upwards were the tall teen could just spot the top of John's head as he chatted away with two girls that Amory could only assume must be from the apartment complex. Just as they reached the bottom of the steps a second bouncer followed by yet a third appeared from the second level. "Boss needs us to go sort out some trouble at the bar," the first one jerked his thumb in the direction of the conflict, indicating that the man holding Amory's collar should follow him. Without thinking the teen's captor-savior followed the other man, not releasing the boy as he walked.

"Umm...." the small objection was swallowed up by the crowd and the music as the group of men wove their way through the flailing bodies toward the man and woman at the bar. As they approached closer Amory used his superior height to get a good look at the two people they were headed too; suddenly he jerked out of the bigger man's grasp as he realized he knew the girl from earlier in the day, although he couldn't quite recall her name. Before the bouncer could grab him again he was gone in the crowd- slinking through the last few bodies to reach Leslie and the man that was tugging hard on her wrist.

"Um- hi! Fancy seeing you here... of all places..." his voice was loud enough to be heard over the booming music, but was stilted awkwardly as he wasn't really sure how to introduce himself in this kind of situation. Without further adue he gazed meaningfully down at the painful-looking death-grip the man had on Leslie's arm. "Ah- I may be mistaken," here he paused, because it was entirely possible as he was generally clueless with women- given that once he'd gone out with a girl without knowing they were a couple for two weeks. However, he was pretty certain based on all the evidence he was correct in this instance, so he plunged ahead, "But I don't think that's how you get a girl to like you." Here he pointed at the man's hand.

"Shut up and back off- you're not needed here!" the obviously drunk man railed at him as he continued to try and pull Leslie closer. When Amory didn't immediately back off, actually electing to move closer instead, the man balled his other hand into a fist and threw it wildly at the wiry teen. Instinct and training took over and Amory brought his hands up into a boxing stance, first dodging the wide swing and then responding with a quick one-two to the other man's abdomen. Gasping for air the assailant went down just as the three bouncers arrived. Unsure of what to do next Amory sidled over to stand beside Leslie, fidgeting awkwardly.

The man's grip on her wrist tightened as he started to pull her closer to him. She kept pushing away from him but his firm grip never lessened. Leslie started to panic as the memories from her past, that she thought she finally left behind, seemed to come to life again. She looked around frighteningly trying to ask help from somebody, but everyone around them seemed to be preoccupied with having fun to even realize what was happening. She was about to lose all her composure as her breathing became faster and faster due to the panic she was feeling, when she noticed somebody approached them.
"Um- hi! Fancy seeing you here... of all places..." Amory's voice was loud enough to be heard over the booming music, and Leslie felt relived to see him. "Ah- I may be mistaken, but I don't think that's how you get a girl to like you." Amory said pointing to the man's hand still griping on her wrist.
"Shut up and back off- you're not needed here!" the man railed at Amory as he continued to try and pull Leslie closer. Leslie now felt scared again but this time not for herself but Amory, as he didn't back down but instead inched closer to them and the man, who was taller and looked stronger than Amory, throw a punch at him. Leslie gasped in shock, but Amory didn't even flinch as he stood in a boxing stance and with ease avoided the punch, than punching the man who was sent flying down to the floor. Three bouncers arrived and escorted the man outside. All the drowsiness Leslie was feeling has disappeared as she stood there still slightly shaking from fear. "Thank you...for helping me." She said with a weak smile to Amory who was standing next to her. She tried hard not to break into tears right there in the middle of the crowed as some people who actually noticed what was happening, but didn't move a finger to save her, stared.

Danni was flattered by Tesla's flirting. She had never been with a girl before but she wasn't against it. Besides she felt like Tesla knew what she was doing. When John stepped out of the room and Tesla started questioning him, Danni couldn't help but agree. When Tesla left to get another drink Danni left the room as well. She walked over to the balcony just in time to see what was going on with Lesli and the guy, as she was going to walk down the stairs she say the art boy, she couldn't remember his name, walk over and be the hero. She smiled and made her way down to them. She saw how distraught Leslie was. "Are you okay?" She said hugging her. She then turned to Armory and ruffled his hair. "Good job kid."

The second that the massive, boulder-esque security guards were gone Amory relaxed a little- glad that he hadn't been thrown out for fighting. As he turned his gaze back from where the guards had disappeared to they cast over Leslie, who stood shivering slightly beside him. At this point Amory was completely lost, almost as unsure of how to deal with her as he had been the older woman who was cleaning to him drunkenly earlier in the night. When she thanked him he nodded hastily, reassuring her, "Oh no- no problem. I didn't do much..." These words the only thing he could think of to say in order to make her feel better, but he felt that they were still lacking- as she was obviously still shaken. Just when he was about to reach over and pat her awkwardly on the shoulder-the only other option he could think of-his savior arrived in the form of another of his new neighbors.

Amory easily watched her wade through the crowd toward them, and stepped to the side as she wrapped her arms almost protectively around Leslie. Standing beside them he swept his gaze over the other customers near them; suddenly wary of the other men, he gave the closest pair what he hoped was an intimidating glare so he wouldn't have to hit someone else again tonight. His fists were slightly sore from hitting the man so hard, and he chastised himself silently for having been so long from boxing practice- he could only imagine what his old coach would say had he seen him tonight. The thought made him flinch a little, the verbal scolding resounding in his brain.

He was shaken from his own thoughts when the girl- Danni his mind suddenly supplied- reached up and ruffled his hair affectionately, "Good job kid." The sentiment caught him off-guard initially, but quickly brought a bright smile to his face and he stepped closer to the pair of girls, "Thank you!" A movement off in the corner of his eye caught his attention and he noticed the older woman he'd just been thinking of stumbling clumsily through what was left of the crowd in their direction. Without thinking he stepped behind Leslie and Danni, crouching slightly- even though he was still taller than them- and said as persuasively as possible, "Umm... don't you think we've had enough fun for tonight? How about going home?"
