"Tenkou mitsuru tokoro ni ware wa ari, yomi no mon hiraku tokoro ni nanji ari..."

a character in “Antiva Chronus Online”, as played by Asher MstrImmortalis

Description

Nickname: The Voice of Treason
Real name: Asher Damons
Gender: Male
Age: 16
Appearance: Asher is white skinned, 5”11’, and has short black hair with blue eyes. He has a slight muscle build, but still slim. He is normal weight, maybe 100 lbs. In real life, he usually wears blue jeans, a white T-shirt, and a black hoodie, whilst listening to his music on his iPhone10 with headphones. In the game, his eyes become icy blue, and his hair turns white and a little longer, kind of like Dante Sparda’s hairdo.
Personality: Asher is friendly to all and hostile to enemies. Asher loves his friends and likes to keep them close. He would protect those important to him with his life, is necessary. Asher isn't the wisest or the smartest, but he is still above average. You won't see him boasting about it, though. In fact, Asher isn’t one to be in the spotlight, or become a leader. However, he can teach people, and if he can’t help it, lead a group.
How Asher fights is simple: Lay back and be in defense to analyze the enemy. Then, Asher would adapt to pick on the weaknesses of said enemy. Asher isn’t one to charge in and barrage. In fact, Asher only uses 3 skills before going back on defense. Because of his skill, Asher can easily counter attacks, and he won’t make a mistake (usually). Unless you can trick him up, Asher is not going to fall for a little deception. Asher prefers faster and weaker spells than stronger yet slower spells, so he can be able to cast multiple spells in succession.
Asher has a calm attitude most of the time. Being a black belt, it’s hard to piss him off. Asher loves to be around his friends, and he loves to have a friendly duel.

Biography: Asher had a normal life until he was locked inside the game. He went to school, became an above average student, went to high school, and enrolled into all the honor classes. Asher also took martial arts. Currently, he is a 1st degree black belt as well as an instructor in his school. All in all, he was pretty much an average Joe.
Asher liked to try new things from time to time. That included video games, especially the β€œInsitus Gear.” However, Asher never let the game take over his life, unlike most people. He was deeply saddened by the fact that most of the students in the martial arts academy were too sucked into the gaming system. When the new Insitus Gear came out, Asher finally bought it along with the Antiva Chronus, just to curb his curiousity in the game. However, he too was trapped in the game, like every other player.
Asher was… well, disturbed that all this was happening because of the people being sucked into the game so much. He hoped that the person who did this will rot in hell, and that justice will be served for all the people who died in this game. Asher is surprisingly calm about it (then again, he was always calm), and has a lot of determination to beat the game with all the closest people to him in this game.

His username came from the fact that Asher has a very persuasive voice. One time he was able to disband a club, and the leader branded him "Voice of Treason." Instead of taking it as an insult, Asher kept it as a personal "title." It stuck around, so Asher used the title as his username.

Equipment:
Mysterious Cloak: Asher wears this to conceal his equipped weapons and belongings. It’s hard for bandits and thieves to get anything valuable from him because of this cloak, and overly-confident newbies won’t know what to expect when they challenge him.
Bladed Sheathe: A normal sheathe, but made of strong material. It’s sharpened to act like a sword. However, it’s also sheathed in another layer, so that anyone holding it wouldn’t cut open their hands. Asher uses this with his skill, second later or not. The second layer is more fit for defense. The sharp layer is more fit for offense. Any new challenger wouldn’t see the second β€œblade” coming.
Raven Wings: Black wings that sprout from the user's back without damaging any clothes that it might normally pierce. Only used for decoration.
Image
Darkened Dawn: A black and red scythe that Asher uses sometimes for long reach and to get through the defenses of enemies.
Blazor Edge Abyssion
Image
Element: Fire
Atk: 1250
M. Atk: 750
Special Ability: It slightly raises the attack stat of the user depending on how many enemies he/she had killed whilst equipped.

The Devil's Eye Blade

Image
Attack: 2750
Magic Attack: 3000
Description: A blade hated by many humans because of it's unique ability to allow the user to quickly memorize the skills of his/her opponent and use it back at them. While it isn't evil in itself, people still shunned it for being too much of a nuisance when facing it in battle. It can seperate into two seperate swords, and comes with it's own sheathe.
Special Ability: Allows the user to have up to 3-5 slots to copy an opponent's skill- depending on the level of the weapon. The skill must be seen and used in battle by the opponent, and the user must meet necessary requirements to use said skill. It currently cannot copy passive abilities.
Copying more abilities than the sword can handle would result in deleting a previously copied skill.

Tempest Reversal: Back flip midair many times and slash the enemy upward with each flip. (Shorter range, but more damage compared to Tempest)

Guardian Field: Stab the ground and make a magic circle, causing any allies in it to heal and enemies to become damaged.
Shining Dragon Swarm: Spin the weapon on the user’s hand, slashing the enemy. Then, make a downward-slash-spin-hook-kick-repeat combo.
Clearing of the Six Senses: The user clears out all worldly distractions of taste, sight, smell, feel, hearing, and thought. The user concentrates on slashing at the opponent without thought, only acting on instinct. The user slashes at very high speeds, running around the target. The path in which the user would leave a glowing lotus shaped-mark on the ground. Then, the user sends the target sky-high, and slams him/her/it down. The lotus disappears on the impact of the sword. It takes a lot to get out of that state once the skill ends, and even more to stay in the state the user should be in to use the skill.
Savage Wolf Fury: The user circles around the enemy. Occasionally, the user slashes at the enemy. The user gets progressively faster and more aggressive. Eventually, the user slashes one after the other from different directions, just being one image of when he/she slashes. The user finally ends with a final five hit slash. Also, it is the only non-mana blade skill to have an incantation. 20 words.

Respite: Rest a little bit in battle, recovering a little bit of health and mana.

Mana Blade Skills:
Blaze Dragon: Jump high into the air and slam your weapon into the ground. The flames that rise up form a dragon rising from the ground. 7 words.
Chant: Face the burning rage of the dragon!

The user then drops from the sky and does a slash that makes a light trail that intercepts the first trail. The trails make a cross, with the enemy in the center. The user, still dropping from the sky, stabs the enemy and the cross, causing an aura of light to rise and damage the enemy even more. 24 words.

Kahlan glared ferociously at her supposed double. This was beyond frustrating. Not only had the thing copied her appearance, she feared that the thing actually believed it was HER. That was a major problem. If both of them were equally trying to convince the confused Marius that the other was the fake then that would just create more confusion. This game had cutting edge AI. It had to, or else pulling something off like this would be impossible. To completely artificially replicate another human being right down to the tone of their voice was a feat only a few researchers could even dream of. The other 'Kahlan' seemed just as frustrated.

Finally, Marius spoke out. "Kahlan, whichever one is you, you're going to have to trust me here."

Did he have an idea? Both Kahlans turned to look at the boy and both nodded that they had heard him at exactly the same time. Kahlan shot her double another glare and she could only watch as the other did exactly the same. Marius began his plan and charged forward. 'Ahhh I see.' He was testing the AI's reaction time. The only thing they could do now was to analyze.

The boy split his double swords and shouted out, "Duck!". Kahlan did just that as soon as the word was said and so did the other again at the same time. 'Damn. She even has the reaction time down. Its acting just like a human being. Of course it would have a fast reaction speed. A program in this state of the art game could easily read and react at lightning speeds. That's what it was made for. So that hadn't worked. Kahlan was getting desperate. This was ridiculous. Raising her sword, she impulsively charged at the other. As expected, the other did the same. The two girl's locked blades mirroring each other's stance and facial expressions perfectly as if they were fighting mere reflections of each other. Kahlan spun away and charged again, executing a combo that was perfectly blocked by her double and the other Kahlan attacked with a different combo. It was extremely smart. Copying her would only give it away. A spell maybe?

Kahlan drove her blade into the ground. "Thy Light Shalt Purge The Darkness! Bathe In The Light!"

The girl swung her blade upward and a powerful light attack erupted from the ground creating a trail of massive light pillars that grew closer to the double. As expected, the other Kahlan had chanted the same words at the same time and the same attack was already on it's way towards Kahlan. Both attacks met midway and a massive explosion of white blinded Kahlan, throwing her back against a tree knocking out some HP. It even knew what she was going to do before she did it. How was she going to fool it?

'I need to do something I wouldn't do.... But what?'

Canon had followed her companion closely, moving out of the city and into the deep forest. At first, there had been many players rushing about, searching for the boss, but as the two moved deeper into the woods, the pine trees growing thicker and thicker around them, other people became a very rare sight indeed. Soon, they found themselves alone in the wintery northern wilds. Until...

The shouts had caught their attention from quite some distance. Asher had noticed first, due to his higher awareness-based skills, but Canon's ears had caught the strains of battle just a few moments later. Exchanging just a few words, Canon had determined the direction the sounds were coming from just as Asher took off along the same course. The two darted between trees, closing the distance between them and the nearby battle within just a few moments. Coming out on the edge of a clearing, they'd met with a very strange sight. The area was unmistakably a <<Boss Arena,>> but there was no such creature to be found. Instead, there were just the two players who had been facing off with it... except the latter was, quite literally, beside herself.

Identical players? Canon wondered, gazing upon the two with surprise. I suppose it's possible, but... Oh, I get it! I've never heard of a monster with an ability like that, though... Her confusion was instantly dispelled as the two began to argue, each accusing the other of being an impostor. It didn't take a genius to discern the situation, just someone who'd watched enough anime to have seen this situation unfolding before. For a moment, she couldn't help but be enthused. Admittedly, in the real world, she'd been a little bit of an otaku, surprisingly enough for the Shonen genre. The fast-paced battles, the courage, the larger-than-life heroes and their incredible determination... To someone plagued by her own problems, watching the sorts of shows that were entirely geared towards overcoming the issues faced by the main characters through raw willpower had been somewhat cathartic. She'd loved every minute of it. Actually, one of the main reasons why she'd first been attracted to ACO was because of that same speed of life, the adrenaline of combat, the feeling of strength far beyond her mortal life. The facts that she could see clearly in this world and that it allowed her to hide away from reality had only made the prospect more attractive to her.

"Ash- Er, 'Vee!'" She quickly corrected herself, but then hastily continued in a hushed yet excited voice. "Listen to what they're saying! One of those two identical people must actually be the boss in disguise! It's like when Envy impersonates Colonel Mustang! Which means we can probably fool it in the- Eep!" Canon abruptly stopped, her face quickly beginning to turn red as she realized that she'd gotten a bit too excited over the prospect of such an "interesting" situation and had spoken her mind a little too unreservedly. Great. Now Asher would think she was some kind of basement-dwelling, anime-obsessed creep. "Er..." She stammered, quickly trying to change the subject. "A-anyway, we should go help that man out there! Have him ask something only the real one would know, or something like that." She refrained from suggesting "the power of love" as a solution, hilariously cliche though that might have been. She'd probably disgraced herself in Asher's eyes enough already.

However, before she could put this plan into action, several things happened at once. The man in question- Oh, incidentally, he was someone wielding an interesting weapon with two blades, one she'd never actually seen before, but had one or two skills for in her own Blademaster ability, although she'd never been able to use them, even before the reset. In addition, his base speed stat seemed abnormally high, higher even than her own. That, and the two-ended sword, could mean only one thing. This was <<The Blur?>> She'd heard a lot about him. To be perfectly honest, she'd always wondered what would happen if she raced him...

Anyway, now was hardly any time to let herself get distracted! It seemed that the Blur had decided to test the mirror images he was faced with by attacking to see their reactions, but, predictably, that didn't work out very well. They moved at exactly the same time, and made things only more confusing by attacking each other - Canon suppressed her inner fangirl at realizing they were even using the exact same attacks, just like one might expect of such an anime-esque situation - which failed to prove anything anyway, since they were still moving in perfect synchronization. She'd been just preparing to intervene and hopefully help, when suddenly, another player registered to her, coming flying out of the trees and landing between the two identical "players," before abruptly, wordlessly turning to attack one of them with a furious storm of blows, several piercing through its defenses...

...only to be intercepted one after the other by a message reading "Immortal Object." That could only mean one thing. If this cloaked player wasn't in a party, then... The boss was immune to solo players! Right!

"Asher! That one's the boss! I'll hit it while it's distracted, then you jump in and draw its aggro!" Canon said quickly. In the next instant, the fake player had been knocked down by the sheer impact of the attacks that had failed to actually damage it. It was now or never. Leaping into the clearing, her haori trailing behind her like a crimson cloud, Canon raised her hand over her head, and activated eight throwing weapon slots. In an instant, a scimitar, a falchion, two longswords, a greatsword, two broadswords, and a katana had all appeared in the air around her in a flash of brilliant vermillion light, taking shape as, at the same time, she swept her hand downward.

"Rain coldly across the battlefield, dance brightly across the sky!" Canon chanted, a booming surge of power flashing out around her as all nine blades shot downward in a deadly rain, moving as though fired from a cannon. Or a Canon, in this case.

...

Even she cringed at that one, but awful puns aside, she couldn't help but add after her spell - although it was completely unnesecary to do so, in this case - the name of the attack itself. There was a reason why she usually included the names of her spells in the chants themselves, after all. Calling one's own moves was just so fun. "Sylphae Barrage!" She finished, making a mental note to alter the spell to include these words later, since she found herself just declaring the spell most of the time anyway.

In any case, the boss didn't even have time to get up or realize that it was being attacked by another new arrival before the attack struck. Its sword was still raised above itself, a lucky streak which saved it from being impaled by the largest projectiles, but failed to stop a longsword, the falchion, and the katana from driving respectively through its right shoulder, left hip, and right knee, while the other blades ended up planted in the ground around it. Canon flipped head over heels, landing nearby and reaching out just in time to catch the second longsword - a single, straight-edged weapon of her own creation - which had been deflected by the boss' blade and sent flying. Leveling this weapon, she glanced back to <<The Blur.>>

"Sorry to interrupt your fight!" She said nervously, giving an apologetic yet earnest smile. "This one's the fake. Er... Since you'll get the same amount of XP regardless of how many players fight it, do you mind if we join in?"

Marius turned as he neared the top of the trees, only to be frustrated. Both Kahlans dodged at the exact same time. He jumped off the tree, landing where he was earlier, to see them attack each other, using the same exact moves. They even had the same spells. This was just confusing now. Even if Marius had pinpointed the false Kahlan with his plan, he would of lost track of which was which by now. There had to be some defining difference. But what?

It seemed the answer didn't come from him, but from someone else. Almost randomly, a five tailed fox and a masked player jumped from the trees. Were they there the whole time? It didn't matter. The fox seemed familiar as well. The masked player couldn't be Refa, could it? It didn't matter. He'd figure it out later. The fox seemed to attack one, but darted off as the masked player struck it and did 0 damage. The immortal object indicator came up, which would only appear if.... So that was the fake one then.

Marius prepared to strike as hard as he could, when two other players came bursting out of the surrounding forest. One of them, whom he recognized as the Vermillion Sparrow from before the reset, charged in and attacked the fallen clone with 8 different weapons. Needless to say, he was rather impressed. It was good to see another unique skill in the fight. "Not at all, not at all." he said when she asked if she and her partner could join in. "The more the merrier. And don't worry, I know its fake. Truth be told, I think it knows we know now. Ready yourselves." The boss was clearly weakened, but not defeated. The fake Kahlan pulled out a present, and through it down, creating a vale of snowflakes, which dispersed to reveal the <<Santa Claus>> again. It pulled another present out of its bag, and swung its arm a few times. Suddenly, it threw the present at the newly formed group, and intuition told Marius that it was some sort of explosive. Reacting on impulse, Marius called out "Everyone, out of the way!", and for reasons Marius couldn't understand, he pushed Kahlan out of the way, throwing them both to the ground in time.

It was a bomb, but not explosive. The present created a vision hampering blizzard, making it impossible to see it, or the other players for that matter. Marius called up his tracking skill to find the boss, only to detect that annoying bag, now tied to a chain of wrapping paper, being used as a ball and chain. The bag of course, was aimed right at him. "Kahlan, stay down!" he called as he dove out of the way. He looked with the tracking skill, to find <<Santa Claus>> was clearly going after him. "Oh, come on! Why me?" he said in frustration, rolling out of the way of the bag that was directed at him. Suddenly, Marius had another utterly insane idea, that made him wonder if he had played too much Shadow of the Collossus in the hospital. As the bag came at him again, Marius only rolled a slight bit out of the way, and stabbed the bag after it came down. Using the bag's momentum as it came back up, he flung himself right at <<Santa Claus>>, swinging as hard as he could.

The blade made contact, attaching himself to the boss. He swung over its head, firing off another <<Grand Eviceration>>, making it roar in pain. Just a bit more would finish it off. As Marius prepared to do so, <<Santa Claus>> grabbed him, and spun the wrapping paper around him, after detaching it from the bag. He then chucked Marius across the white field, as he landed somewhere a bit away. The paper was tied tightly enough around him that it restricted all movement. <<Gemini Blade>> was right next to him, but he couldn't reach it to free himself. Fortunatly, the boss seemed to lose interest in him, and went after the others. Marius glanced at his health. There was just under a quarter left. He called out, "Guys, its coming for you. I could use a hand if anyone's free though. I'm a bit tied up here."

Shineda made his way back into the <<Northern Pine Forest>>, dealing with the mobs there with ease. Needless to say that one swing was enough to terminate their programs. It wasn't long until he arrived at the clearing where the <<Event Boss>> was. Who'd even have known that the <<Event Boss>> was <<Santa Claus>>?

Hearing sounds of battle, he quickened his pace before feasting his eyes on some kind of bright light. Hiding in the shadows, he watched... Marius was fighting along with a blonde girl... wait.

'Kahlan?' he thought to himself in surprise. It was Kahlan! She looked different! What happened to her armor and sword? And... did she get a makeover? Huh... seemed like Shineda missed out a little on the girl's development.

Both of them performed remarkably well against the <<Boss>>, and Shineda was quite surprised by the amount of damage Kahlan received. It seemed like nothing. Seemed painful though. Bags and presents, Shineda probably wouldn't look at them the same way again. He almost chuckled at his own little joke.

He stood there though, quiet as the shadows that surrounded him. His senses were tingling though... someone else was around as well. Not just Marius and Kahlan.

What surprised him most was the moment Marius disarmed the <<Event Boss>>, instantly it seemed to draw it's new weapon, a candy cane sword. That was just... The GM wasn't kidding about the change of AI tactics. What couldn't been a powerful strike became a blunted blow as Kahlan's sword met with <<Santa Claus's>> sword. The moment he saw Kahlan's cheek bleeding, he almost dashed in to help but held his ground. This wasn't his fight. Kahlan and Marius could handle this, he was sure of it. If things decided to turn out for the worst... Shineda feared he may have to raise his sword.

But it didn't seem like he was required to do that at all, after Kahlan leapt into the air and dealt in a powerful spell that dealed considerable damage and causing it to be immobilized. In that instant, Marius switched in to deal his own brand of punishment.

Shineda almost clapped. The most brilliant display!

But that was short lived when <<Santa Claus>> fought back, clashing sword against swords. Marius was fast, but <<Santa Claus>> had the speed and the strength that Marius lacked, thus sending him flying away. Kahlan charged in upon Marius's call and dealt a flurry of blows, pushing the <<Boss>> further backwards. It was until the very last second, the bag flew straight into it's hand. With the bag in hand, <<Santa Claus>> reached inside and an explosion of snow occurred, enveloping both Kahlan and itself in a white haze.

When the haze cleared...

'Two Kahlans?!' Shineda was a little stunned at the sight of two identical <<Players>> standing where the explosion had taken place.

One of the Kahlans made a frantic cry. "Marius quick! It's turned into me! Don't be fooled!"

The other quickly pointed her sword at the one who called out first. "No Marius! It's her! It's trying to trick you!"

This was utterly confusing for Shineda. The <<Boss>> could replicate the <<Player>> to utter perfection... Was this the new types of <<Bosses>> that Yoshihiro had planned for them? And to think that the <<Event Boss>> wouldn't kill <<Players>>...it did, maybe in an indirect way. Smart. In this moment, he felt a strong murderous intent coming from somewhere nearby. He was right, someone else was around. But who?

Meanwhile in the battle, Marius had decided to do a take on the AI's reaction time, which failed miserably as both Kahlan's reacted right away. Kahlan seemed to have a different idea to try and attack her imposter, but with both of them using the exact replicas of their attacks... This wasn't going anywhere.

At that moment, a black cloaked <<Player>> which Shineda had not detected until his/her appearance in the fight. This <<Player>> seemed to possess a cloak that mimicked what Shineda's own cloak did. While Shineda's cloak was like the wispy shadows, the <<Player's>> was a solid dark black, darker than any kind of black. So this was the one he had been sensing a while back? Either way, the <<Player>> was accompanied by a five tailed Fire Fox, which was all too familiar to Shineda.

With the fox's help, the <<Player>> struck the Kahlan of the fox's decision and the <<Immortal Object>> symbol popped up. This all added up in Shineda's mind. Fire Fox and Solo. Not to mention the very nostalgic feel when the burning sword struck against the <<Santa>> repeatedly until it fell off balance.

The appearance of two more <<Players>>, both whom Shineda knew by appearance. Those two from his memories... the tears. The girl had one arm before but... Shineda smiled. Both of them pulled through then?

The girl displayed a powerful <<Unique Combat Skill>> that Shineda had not seen anywhere before. Swords whipped around the <<Player>> before bolting towards the fake Kahlan, stabbing it into the ground like a human experiment. Shineda was a little disturbed by this, but seeing the real Kahlan still fair and well, he tried to picture <<Santa>> being pierced instead. It wasn't long until the <<Boss>> decided it was time to revert back into it's real self. Throwing a present, Shineda initially thought it would be the same type of attack that <<Santa Claus>> had used against the PKs, but when it exploded, only a large blizzard storm ensued, hampering vision. Before that, Shineda had a small pang of some kind of emotion running through his veins at the sight of Marius pushing Kahlan aside.

Utilizing his <<Detect Complete>>, he viewed through the blizzard storm in the comfort of the pine forest cover. He watched <<Santa Claus>> swinging around a make-shift ball and chain from it's bag and wrapping paper. If it wasn't so dangerous, Shineda would've laughed at the comicality. It swung for Marius, who rolled out of the way into safety. When the <<Boss>> swung yet again for Marius, <<The Blur>> did something unorthodox. Something that Shineda himself had done a few times against large enemies. Something that could only pop up in your mind if you had played Shadow of the Collossus, an old game way back when the gaming community was starting to rise.

The innovative <<Player>> dodged out of the way of the bag and stabbed the bag after it came down. Using the bag's momentum as it came back up, he flung himself right at <<Santa Claus>>, swinging as hard as he could.

The blade made contact, attaching himself to the boss. Marius swung over its head, firing off another <<Grand Eviceration>>, making it roar in pain. As Marius prepared to deal another attack, <<Santa Claus>> grabbed him, and spun the wrapping paper around him, after detaching it from the bag. He then chucked Marius across the white field. Luckily, the <<Boss>> had shifted it's attention onto the others, despite Marius's vulnerability.

It was time to make a move.

Shineda walked towards Marius's fallen figure in the distance with an even, relaxed pace. When he was coming near to the lad, he drew his Katana with a slow, delibrate movement. The metal sung when it made contact with the air, the shrill hum of the blade vibrating in the wind. He stood in front of Marius, face hidden by his cloak, the shadowy outline of the equipped item giving Shineda a dark looming aura.

He stabbed at Marius.

With a well-placed aim, he severed the wrapping paper without hurting him. Shineda pulled up his inventory again and prodded a few options, causing a healing crystal to materialize in his hand. From under the cloak, Shineda glanced at Marius's HP bar, which was slighty below half it's quantity. He tossed the crystal at the <<Player>>.

"Good fight. Heal up and join up as quick as you can." Shineda told him before leaving a trail of shadowy wisps in his wake as he charged towards the <<Santa>>. The looming giant never saw it coming when Shineda leaped into the air and struck it square across the head, sending it crashing face first into the midst of the other <<Players>>. He dealt 0 damage, and the minute he landed in the vicinity, <<Santa Claus>> displayed <<Immortal Object>>. He received a message:

"<<Santa Claus>> also has a trick that normal bosses you've faced until now do not. It is an <<Immortal object>> to solo players. You'll only be able to defeat it once you're in a party. Take in mind that some of bosses you will face in future will have the same effect only then you won't be able to escape."

Huh...

Without wasting much of it's precious time, <<Santa Claus>> immediately got up and leapt far from their reach and threw an impossibly large present at them. Shineda tensed, but instead of exploding, the present glowed and split into six objects...

Six <<Santa's Helpers>> had spawned, green, pointed ears and pointy hats filled with bells. Oh God, this must be some kind of a joke. In the corner of his eye, he saw <<Santa Claus>> munching on some huge candy canes and jumbo sized Christmas cookies and saw the increased regeneration health.

"Oh? Buying some time are we?" Shineda muttered before charging straight for <<Santa>>, despite knowing he wouldn't deal any damage. Instead, he was stopped by one of <<Santa's Helpers>>. Shineda managed to bring his Katana out to block against the <<Helper's>> tool hammer weapon. Immediately after the clash, Shineda backed away. The six <<Helpers>> stood in a line, shielding the ever regenerating <<Santa>> from the <<Players>>.

'Damn...looks like trouble.' he thought.

Simultaneously, all the <<Players>> in the battle received a message again from the GM:

"It seems you have pushed <<Santa Claus>> into a corner. When facing five or more <<Players>> at once, when left with one bar of HP, <<Santa Claus>> will retreat to heal while his <<Helpers>> will do battle for him. One <<Helper>> per <<Player>>.

Let's not forget that the <<Helpers>> are also <<Immortal Objects>> to solo players.

This will be implemented onto future <<Bosses>> as well.

Good Luck.

"Tsk...you've got to be kidding me..." Shineda groaned before fixating his gaze on <<Santa>>, who had already healed up one HP bar. He looked at the other <<Players>> before letting his gaze wonder to Kahlan. He brought up his inventory and threw out a healing crystal at her, an exact image of how he threw the crystals at Refa several months back.

"Heal up, you heard the man. We need to fight those <<Helpers>> as well." he told her, pointing a thumb back at the line of <<Helpers>>.

Without hesitation, he walked towards the cloaked <<Player>> and her fox. He reached out a hand for the Fox to sniff, who seemed to have recognized the smell and let Shineda stroke it. So... he was right. He stood up and leaned in, both cloaked <<Players>>.

"...I know who you are..." he whispered to her. "If the rest haven't already figured it out, then I'll keep quiet for your sake."

He stepped away from the <<Player>> and faced the <<Helpers>>, who were beginning to be restless, tapping their tool hammers against the snowy ground.

(Holy crap.... Getting bombarded with huge new posts filled with stuff is not fun... Tried to wrap it up as best I could without repeating everything Doc and Tnevda said already...)

Kahlan caught the healing crystal and used it instantly. Her health bar replenished back to the green and was soon full. So it was the six of them against six <<Helpers>>. The boss, it's cover blown by the mysterious player that showed up, retreated back into the forest. Kahlan eyed the cloaked <<Player>> suspiciously. The way the player managed to uncover the boss' disguise with the little fire fox was too familiar for Kahlan to not suspect who it was. The pet was too recognizable and the player was solo to boot. Kahlan couldn't help but smile. So she had made it this far going solo. Kahlan turned her attention to the player who tossed her the crystal. He was cloaked as well. What was with players and being cloaked these days? It was beyond annoying. Kahlan never knew why, but she took pride in showing who she was when she fought. It brought her a sense of pride as a player but then again, everyone is different. It wasn't her problem why these two players chose to hide their identity though one gave herself away with her little fox.

"Heal up, you heard the man. We need to fight those <<Helpers>> as well." The player who had tossed her the crystal told her as he pointed towards the new opponents they had to face.

Kahlan glanced around. It was her, the two cloaked players, Marius who had just healed up and the two others who had joined as well. Both had big names in ACO and Kahlan wasn't surprised that they showed up also being at a high level.

"So are we wanting a strategy here or are we going to go one on one with each helper? It seems as though you two are going to have a hard time, since you are solo." She averted her gaze towards the two cloaked players.

So many things happened at once that Refa barely managed to comprehend what had happened. First, she had expected that Marius would be the one to damage <<Santa Claus>>, but instead a girl with light hair and boy had appeared. Then the boss did some kind of explosion trick against Marius who successfully managed to use it to his advantage and directed more damage onto the boss. However Santa wrapped up some paper around Marius and flung it into the ground making him lose some amount of HP. Refa wanted to go and help him (she has an instinct to help those in trouble), however another player appeared onto the scene.

He was wearing dark cloak which had same effect as Refa's - to hide identity. However to her it was no stranger, it was The Shadow Rival. She could recognize that cloak anywhere. He gave healing crystals to both Kahlan and Marius and then tried to attack <<Santa Claus>> only to find out that it was an <<Immortal Object>>. Of course, he always had played solo, just like Refa.

Then Santa did something unexpected which was kind of expected. It retreated to the background and created 6 <<Helpers>>, one for each player that had attacked <<Santa Claus>>. Of course they couldn't be destroyed by solo players as well. Refa just angrily cursed to herself because she couldn't even fight although had plenty of power to do so.

The Shadow Rival then went up to Kyuu-chan and reached out his hand so the fox could sniff it. Oddly enough Kyuu-chan recognized him and let The Shadow Rival to stroke him. There's no way Kyuu-chan could recognized The Shadow Rival, they were never close enough to him for Kyuu-chan to get his smell. Yet the fox knew him. Refa had recalled all those times she had been close to some male players and realized there was only one. Mister-know-it-all. "I really need to find out his name," Refa thought to herself while those odd nicknames ran through her mind.

".....I know who you are... If the rest haven't already figured it out, then I'll keep quiet for your sake," The Shadow rival quietly said and stepped away from her to face the <<Helpers>>.

This was something Refa had not expected. Someone who had seen her only once could recognize her so easily. Well surely Kyuu-chan was a big giveaway, however he wasn't the small two-tailed fox he was back when they fought <<The Moonlit Deathwolf>>. Something stirred inside Refa. At first she hated him for what he said, but he fought in the front lines alone to end this game, helped the little boy who was cornered by PK's and even managed to recognize her after all this time. This guy was just too kind, although there was something very sad about him as well.

"So are we wanting a strategy here or are we going to go one on one with each helper? It seems as though you two are going to have a hard time, since you are solo," Kahlan said as she had recovered her health. Red-head still didn't want to reveal herself to other, so she just ignored Kahlan's question and went up to the cloaked man. Then Refa did something she normally would have never done, she gently grabbed him by his arm and whispered only so he could hear: "Party up with me..."

Asher stared at Kan- My God, CANON.- as she referenced a familiar anime. "You know... You're lucky that I had just past there... Next time you bring up a scene, don't spoil it to anyone." Asher smiled as he joked, and faced the battle once again. A little creature had jumped at one of the clones. Using the creature's hint, a mysterious cloaked player attacked the double. The Immortal Object pop-up... Well, popped up. Canon had then taken off and attacked the boss, who revealed itself as Santa Clause moments later. Because Kanna was in a party with Asher, the boss was damaged by her attack. The player in red-Marius, was it?- attacked the boss as well. However, the assault only ended up with him being tied up (literally).

Just then, a new player had showed up to battle the boss as well. A mini army of powerful players against a fat old man... I like these odds... Asher mentally chuckled, but then focused back to the battle. The newcomer attacked the boss after freeing the tied up player, but failed. A message showed up, saying that the boss can only be harmed by those in parties. Well that's convienient. There seems to already be two here... Asher mused.

The boss, like any other annoying bosses in video games, spawned six enemies, all with the same attribute of not being able to be harmed by solo players. They were elves with various tools, and they were dubbed Santa's Helpers. "Six of us, six of them." Asher muttered, walking up to Kanna. "So are we wanting a strategy here or are we going to go one on one with each helper?" The one who was cloned said outloud. Even though she directed it to the two cloaked players, Asher still said out loud his response. "I'd go with one on one, first one to defeat the one they face attacks the boss." Asher said.

He looked at her direction, but his vision started to focus on one of the cloaked figures. His mind took an interest in one of them. Why does he look so familiar? Asher thought. He quickly dismissed it to focus on the battle. Asher swung his sheath to let out his sword, Demon's Claw, without drawing it. As it seemingly stopped in place in the air, Asher caught it with his left hand, and held the sheath properly with his right. Asher pointed his sword at one of the Santa's Helpers, as if to challenge it. The Helper replied with bringing out a toy bag similar to Santa Clause's. Asher smiled, and waited for everyone else to start attacking. Like always, he stood relatively near Canon.

Marius struggled to get out of his little predicament, but to no avail. The wrapping was too tight to just bust out. Then, a shadowy figure slowly walked up to him, drawing its blade steadily. The identity hiding cloak led him to believe it was a PK, waiting in the shadows to strike. Then he realized he recognized the cloak. It was the same guy who helped that injured kid in Pruina. All the same, he did hold his breath as the shadow figure freed him from the restraints. Marius hopped to his feet, and said, "If you're going to do that, give me some warning next time. I think my heart just skipped several beats." The cloaked man passed him a healing crystal and said to him [b]"Good fight. Heal up and join up as quick as you can." Marius could swear to God that he had heard this voice before, but didn't comment on it. He quickly called out the command, raising his health bar back to close to full.

Marius ran back into the fight just as the GM message and the <<Helpers>> appeared. To Marius, this whole event had turned into something out of The Nighmare Before Christmas. The two familiar cloaked players stood a bit off to the side, while the newcomers were together as well. It seemed Kahlan and the male newcomer were talking strategy. It seemed he wanted them to take the <<Helpers>> one and one, and the idea appealed to Marius quite a bit. "Sounds good." he replied. "That way we can end snack time for not so jolly Saint Nick over there quickly." As Marius took out his customary <<Gemini Blade>> again, he couldn't help but notice the bit of flair the newcomer showed, using both his sword and sheath as weapons. "Ah, getting fancy are we?" he couldn't help but reply. "Don't worry. Two can play at that." Marius spun his blade around with his own flair, detaching the two ends without breaking the moment, creating a fluid display. "I'm ready when you guys are." he said to all of them around. "Let's give them hell."

The other cloaked <<Player>> walked up to him and gently grabbed his arm, whispering to him. "Party up with me..."

Shineda flinched. Not from the contact of being grabbed, but by that word. Party. It was a word Shineda had come to fear, and a word Shineda used to symbolize failure to save someone and death of a comrade. A tremor racked the shadowy <<Player>> as dreadful memories of the past few months began overloading his head. While a solo player, Shineda was a frequent assistance to the frontliner guilds despite his loner nature, and he witnessed more things that drew him further away from making bonds with other people. One particular memory of such an event:

An entire group of frontliners in a party fought valiantly, a fight that Shineda had participated but as a solo player. It was a great fight, everyone had worked together perfectly, healers standing behind to heal the wounded ones. But ever so slowly, the their numbers begin to reduce, and with each fallen comrade, one would lament his/her death and forget about the fight, consumed by total lose. The image of an entire battlefield of crying and screaming <<Players>>, hugging and holding onto dead <<Players>> before they burst into tiny crystal polygons was engraved into his mind, forever traumatizing the solo player. They cried their lose, ignorant of their impending fate as the <<Boss>> loomed before them. Or maybe they had given up hope. They had no cause to fight anymore... With a single swipe, the entire party disintegrated into polygon dust before his eyes. In the rage, in the despair, in the overwhelming feeling of self-loathing for being unable to protect them, he charged at the <<Boss>>, mercilessly slaughtering it in all ways possible in the system. He snapped that day. By the time he had recovered for his breaking point, he regained consciousness of himself only to find pieces of the <<Boss>> strewn all around him in a bloody mess like something from God of War, before ultimately breaking up into polygons.

Shineda reached for his head, breathing heavily as if he had just ran a mile, trying to stem the flow of all those deaths in his memories that he had tried so hard to lock away, the feeling of guilt for not saving them pumping from his heart. He had wanted to save everyone, but he was never able to...

"Save the ones that you can save, save the ones that you can save, save the ones that you can save..." Shineda repeated the mantra in a hushed voice to himself, something that he begun using to give himself some hope of saving <<Players>>. His breathing began to slow and he stopped shivering. Party

Could he? With the girl that had almost died during their fight together? The girl that hated him so much and ran solo because of him? More importantly... would he be able to save her if time comes to it? Would he be able to save the other 4 involved in this fight? Partying....

He brought up the menu for a party and reached for it... His hand trembled with fear and he missed the button several times. One that one occasion his finger was almost touching the button, he recoiled back in fear.

"I...I can't...I just can't..." he said softly, almost as if his voice was breaking. He shook his head and closed his hand into a fist. He took a steady breath to calm himself down. He reached for the button yet again, then froze in fear yet again.

A quiet, soft laugh came from beside Asher's side, and, in a slight flash and a sweep of her hand, Canon recovered her thrown weapons to her inventory with a practiced hotkey trigger of the button used to claim dropped items. The longsword she held, too, vanished, and in the next instant, she'd reached down to her waist, and to the matching pair of curved sheathes hung there. With a quiet scraping sound, the two falchions Tempest and Gale arced up from her belt, and she, too, dropped into a two-weapon combat stance, a faint flicker of wind flashing around her as the speed boost of both weapons, then the combined boost of the set, registered, causing her haori to flutter around on the breeze like a scarlet cloud.

"W-with so many people with interesting abilities here, I almost don't feel special anymore," She said quietly, her smile indicating that this was clearly intended as a joke. To the others, it might seem like a normal bit of banter meant to ease the strain on her mind before a tough fight. But to Asher, it would very likely be nothing short of astonishing. She'd been quite clearly addressing him, only seeming to realize afterward that the others might have heard her comment, but to joke like that in the midst of several other players? It was something nigh unheard of for the shy, nervy girl, and showed exactly how far she'd come since day one. Even when she realized she'd probably been heard, her only reaction was a faint blush and a somewhat nervous smile. Maybe she was just trying to impress Asher with her improvement at dealing with other people, but it seemed too earnest to be faked. Canon wasn't the sort to be a very good actor, in any case.

"The longer we wait, the more it heals, right?" She suggested. Perhaps she was just trying to change the subject, but there was almost an air of enjoyment in her countenance, a lingering smile that seemed to be caused by more than just the joke. It was just like the time with the <<Fallen King Acheron.>> She had cast away her fears in the face of a powerful boss, and was simply preparing to face things in a methodical manner, like a player of any normal MMORPG, virtual reality or not, might do. She was analyzing the situation, developing a plan, and then preparing for a fun fight. It seemed a little odd, until one took into consideration that the boss and its helpers still couldn't kill any players. That's right... Even if it was just this once, she could enjoy this game like she used to! And so, her face abruptly broke out in a confident, self-assured grin that seemed totally anathema to it, and she straightened into the stance of a practiced, hardened combatant. Yet there was an unmistakably casual air about her positioning. She was taking this seriously, but, at this moment, she looked more confident than her partner did! This sudden change was almost as though she'd become a completely different individual. And, in a way, she had. Right now, she was Canon, the fearless <<Vermillion Sparrow>> who had taken on over a thousand different types of enemy, who had ventured where the brave dared not tread, who had managed to ever-so-briefly attain her dreams.

Canon's eyes flashed scarlet, and the air around her kicked up to a miniature whirlwind. All around her, countless flashes of light were beginning to take shape as blades appeared across the gap in the forest canopy above, like hail preparing to fall from the cloudy white sky.

"My ranged abilities are probably some of the highest here. I'll clear the path," Canon said. Turning to Kahlan, she gave an innocent, cheerful smile that belied their situation. "Er, Miss Knight? You seem good at area of effect. Could you please follow up my attack by drawing their aggro?" Gesturing respectfully to Asher, she continued. "My companion here is fast and good at dealing damage, like yours seems to be, so, if it's alright with everyone, they can follow you in and attack the helpers from behind." Pointing to the small cloud of a few dozen swords hanging overhead like the theoretical blade of Damocles by way of explanation as to her own role, she grinned. "I'll keep you all supported with ranged abilities and magic, so don't worry about them hitting you in a blind spot. If surrounded, you can always just form up back to back and cover each other. Oh, and if you like, feel free to borrow any of these swords once they've landed. If you have the requisite skills, they might be useful, and I certainly don't mind a few scratches on them."

Things were looking good and it seemed like everyone was going one on one with each <<Helper>>. Well..... Or so she thought. Kahlan called out to the group.

"Everyone! Pick your targets and-"

'Oh great. What now?' Kahlan was cut off as she noticed the two cloaked players. It seemed like they were about to party up alright, but one of the players had not pressed the "accept" button on the notification that was hovering in the air before him. 'Was he having trouble accepting? What was this? Just press the damn button!' Something struck her as strange. Was the player having trouble with the idea of partying? Having been in parties and guilds for her entire time in the game, the concept of not playing with others never crossed her mind. Sure she had her share of soloing but it never was for a long period of time. Fighting with others helped her become stronger as a player and as a person. She had always despised those who thought fighting with others "slowed" them down.

It seemed like the <<Helpers>> were getting restless. They looked as if to attack at any moment and Kahlan was getting impatient. They were wasting precious time. In the shadows of the forest, the <<Santa Claus>> boss was healing itself and probably was at full health again. All of Kahlan's and Marius' efforts put to waste just because a player was too chicken to join a party. Even if they did go now, by the time the <<Helpers>> were all defeated it would be too late and they would have to start from scratch again. She didn't want that. Who knows what else the <<Santa Claus>> had up it's sleeve. Or in this case, in it's bag.

"My ranged abilities are probably some of the highest here. I'll clear the path,"

A small voice piped up behind Kahlan. It was the small silver haired girl that had appeared earlier. The Vermillion Sparrow. Kahlan's caught a brilliant flash that lighted up the sky. Blades.... Countless blades appeared in the sky above them and the Paladin could not help up stare in awe at the sight. This girl was really something and Kahlan could tell by the look in her eyes that she had been through a lot.

"Er, Miss Knight? You seem good at area of effect. Could you please follow up my attack by drawing their aggro?" Gesturing respectfully to Asher, she continued. "My companion here is fast and good at dealing damage, like yours seems to be, so, if it's alright with everyone, they can follow you in and attack the helpers from behind.

Kahlan grinned playfully at the girl. "You really are something aren't you? I didn't catch your name. I know we have these player icons but I like to introduce myself to a comrade before I fight alongside them. I'm Kahlan. Azure Paladin at your service. Well..." She glanced down at her dark armor. "Not so Azure I guess." Bringing her shining sword into an offensive stance, Kahlan readied herself. "Sounds like a plan Miss Sparrow. Everyone! You heard the lady! I'll be going in first. Everyone, back me up and follow through on my lead!"

It was now or never, Mr. Cloak. They would attack whether he was ready or not. Perhaps the pressure of the situation would force him to party up and join them. But for now, it was just the four of them. The ones who were not ashamed to hide their identity. Kahlan flexed her hand and took a deep breath. Show time.

"Thy Light Shalt Purge The Darkness! Bathe In The Light!"

The Paladin of light drove her sword deep into the ground and slashed forward. Light energy erupted from the ground violently and the pillars of light crashed into the group of <<Helpers>> with blinding speed. With the damage she had done and the blinding light, the <<Helpers> stumbled around trying to gain balance.

"Now! Break through!!"

Kahlan gave a shout and she was off driving her sword deep into the first <<Helper>> she came upon. She swung her sword outward and slashed at another. One by one, each minion regained their composure and became enraged. They seemed to have one goal in mind: To kill the pesky Paladin who had rudely began the battle without their consent. Kahlan was too quick. Delivering a successful parry to the blade of the pick that was jabbed at her face, she slipped under the weapon and kicked the little <<Helper>> away so she could focus on the next one. Purposefully trying to force all of the little bastards into one spot, Kahlan danced in a circle around the group occasionally flipping and spinning to avoid their blades and to do damage with her own. Her plan was to drive the things into one concentrated area so the Vermillion Sparrow could release a full barrage of metal at them and she hoped the others caught on.

"Drive them in so Blade Girl can take a clear shot at all of them!! Be quick!!"

While others had already started to fight the helpers Refa and The Shadow Rival were still standing aside. He was hesitating, he was breathing hard and obviously something that Refa did made him remember something unpleasant. His hand was just few centimeters away from pushing "Accept" button, but then he took it away again.

"I...I can't...I just can't..." he said softly, almost as if his voice was breaking. He was afraid. Afraid that Refa will die, that others will die and that he'll be the one who will see their deaths. Girl understood that, she has seen players die as well. It was 73rd boss to be defeated. A party of 6 confident yet not so strong players had decided to take it on all on their own without anyone's help. Refa didn't know what had happened but when she arrived at the place, <<Sand Scorpion King>> had reduced everyone's health to the minimum. Obviously red-head instantly joined in the fight and tried to save them all but in the end she managed to save only one - the leader of this group. All his comrades that had died in that fight were his friends in real life and he unable to overcome their death committed the suicide the very next day.

Refa squeezed boy's hand tighter and whispered: "I'm not going to die..."

"I'm going to survive and protect you as well!!! Don't take the wrong idea! I'm not asking for your protection! I'm offering to protect you!" Refa exclaimed loudly with confidence still firmly holding onto his arm. Her fiery nature naturally just appeared and made her just blur out random things. But she really meant what she said. At that point Refa was bit odd, because she doesn't want to be protected like most girls, she wants to protect.

"Nyuu!!!" Kyuu-chan called out as if asking for boy to accept his master's request. If Refa's strong words didn't do the trick then Kyuu-chan must have persuaded him! Nobody can reject this cute fox.

Refa's strong words did better effect then she had expected. The Shadow Rival's fears all disappear and he finally pushed the accept button. "Took you long enough," Refa thought to herself and smiled. Then without any more ado, he jumped straight into fight slashing <<Helpers>> here and there with his katana. Obviously his main target was <<Santa Claus>> however his minions blocked his path and he had no choice but to fight them all.

"So much for one on one strategy," Refa said to herself and pouted. Seemed like she was the only one who wasn't fighting now. Well, her and Kyuu-chan who was now happily waging his five tails around. She could have sworn that it looked like fox will start to purr at any second despite the tense situation.

Red head looked around and then noticed that thanks to Shineda, way to <<Santa Claus>> was now free. "My time to shine!" Refa thought and charged straight for eggnog drinking giant. Obviously it expected that <<Helpers>> will protect him so he didn't notice girl until she already had slashed the drink right out of his hand making it spill onto the white snow.

"I'm afraid I can't allow you drink anymore than that," she said and wanted to pierce <<Santa>> with her sword however it swiftly managed to pull out its Candy Cane Sword and blocked Refa's attack. Unfortunately girl had forgotten that this boss was very fast despite his size, didn't react in time and got hit by the sword. Luckily it wasn't a direct hit, however it still reduced a bit of her health and set her flying towards the ground. Refa managed to land on her feet and then jumped back to prepare for another attack when suddenly she heard a crack. And then another one. And then her mask broke into tiny pieces, leaving her face exposed.

"My mask...." she just whispered and once again red-head's fury came bursting out with full force. "It was a rare expensive mask which I managed to buy on Halloween you overgrown fatso!!! I can't get something like that anymore, you will pay for what you have done!"

Out of anger, Refa pulled off her black cloak to reveal her true appearance - a dashing young warrior with sun yellow jacket and bright red hair that was flowing along with the wind making her hair look like flame. Now she definitely stood out more then anyone, however it didn't matter anymore. If she was fighting this giant thing, she will fight it without hiding!

BGM: Lunar Clock ~ Luna Dial

"Alright! Mr. <<Blur,>> Vee, attack now! This should keep those Helpers busy for you to finish off! Miss Kahlan, you've done enough! Switch in to draw the boss' aggro for Miss Stranger!" Canon swiftly directed, sweeping out her blade towards the target like a general directing a battle. "And now, it's my turn! Sever and Transcend, Sylphae Blade!" She shouted enthusiastically, completely preoccupied with the battle. The wind around her collapsed into a glimmering vortex around her two falchions, and, drawing back, she hurled them with all her might, sending them spinning through the air outward to either side of the battle. In the next instant, recovering from her first throw, she'd reversed her momentum, summoning her twin dao swords at the same instant and, giving them just enough time to fall under the effects of her sword buff spell, hurled them as well, sending them arcing upward over the battlefield.

"Rain coldly across the battlefield... Dance brightly across the sky!" Canon chanted, her now-crimson eyes flashing to a gleaming hue of scarlet as every last sword behind her formed up like some sort of invisible phalanx in the air, blades pointed forward straight for the group of enemies standing clustered together up ahead. "Fire! Sylphae Barrage!" The snow on the ground exploded backward in a shockwave behind the girl in red who stood in silhouette against a wall of blades. And then, one after the other, like some bizarre cannonade, the blades began to fire off in a relentless shower that exhausted their number almost instantly. She only had a few dozen swords in her inventory, but they'd be more than enough, if she could just get them to be affected by her Sylphae Blade buff... But, since she hadn't touched them directly, the only other way for it to happen would be for them to be caught by weapons already under the effects of the buff, and under her control. But, of course, she'd already set up for that, now hadn't she?

Streaking through the air, many of the swords overshot their target, either to the sides or simply flying past them. Even those that didn't were still aimed too high to hit. As it was, none of the blades looked as though they'd hit their mark. But, that would soon change. With a loud crash, two trees on the far edge of the battlefield were abruptly shattered by two tremendous impacts, their trunks collapsing backward and into the forest. From amidst the shower of falling branches and snow, two whirling blades, rotating so quickly as to appear like discs in the sky, came spinning into view. Just as the blades passed over and around their target, they moved perfectly into the path of the circling swords. In unison, the two falchions whirled across the tips of every single passing weapon, and, with a tremendous gust of wind, lightly tapped their very points to abruptly spin their blades back inward, while at the same time releasing a surge of air even more powerful than the spell that had fired them. Instantly, all of the swords that had passed by their targets had suddenly been reversed, forming a flawlessly crafted line in the air that began to collapse swiftly upon the targets, not from the front, but from behind! Half a circle had now been completed, but Canon was far from done, for whirling in from above came the black and white blades of the dao swords, which swept over those blades that were aimed above their targets just in time to correct their course in the same manner as the falchions she'd bounced off the trees had. Once again, half a circle was completed, and, the blades of this first semicircle joining the blades coming in from behind, she fully surrounded the <<Santa's Helpers>> with a literal ring of swords.

"<<Phantasmic Killer,>>" Canon declared proudly, smiling at her handiwork as every last one of the blades in the air finished contacting her thrown swords, thereby spreading her attack buff to each and every one of them. This, in turn, caused them to register as <<Wielded Weapons>> instead of <<Thrown Weapons.>> And this... allowed her to activate a <<Sword Skill>> that simultaneously utilized every single sword currently in the air. As vermillion light expanded to encompass the blades of every single sword now closing in on their targets, they instantly accelerated, becoming intensely empowered by the skill that was now taking affect on them. The Helpers didn't even realize what was happening until too late as they, staggering under the assault of the mysterious cloaked player, gathered up into a single group right at the center of the circle. Then, with a flash of light... the collapsing ring instantly struck from all sides, filling each Helper with at least half a dozen swords sticking out of their bodies left and right. A tremendous surge of scarlet pixels flashed skyward as their health bars were instantly reduced to the red, then turned pink as the sheer number of wounds inflicted <<Bleeding>> condition. Several were also suffering from <<Crippled,>> as the blades had impaled their legs, registering a special kind of hit there. For several moments, the enemies would now be paralyzed, left sitting ducks for the rest of the group.

"Alright! Finish them off!" Canon directed as her four swords began to spiral through the air and back to her. With a flash, the two daos faded into her inventory, while the falchions flew right back into her waiting hands. Bracing herself, she prepared to advance, but only once the enemies were defeated. Now that she'd done so much damage, every last one of them would be targeting her, and she'd just exhausted her supply of throwing weapons completely for that one attack.

The Voice of Treason smiled when the red-clothed player did a few tricks of his own, using a double edged sword. "Nice moves." Asher commented.

"I'm ready when you guys are. Give them all hell." He said.

"With pleasure." Asher Damons replied, holding up his sword.

Suddenly, he saw the Kan- Ooops, Canon's- swords come right through the group of Santa's Helpers. The Voice of Treason watched in amazement as Canon set up a full on Phantasmic Killer- one of her most powerful yet newest skills when it came to using her multitude of blades. It was truly the most epic thing Asher had seen, it the set up was exxecuted perfectly. When the move had finished, some had the Bleeding condition, others were Crippled. "Nice!" Asher exclaimed. He sheathed his sword, mainly because he already had thought up a combo, one that involves pulling out swords from their dying bodies. The thought is revolting, but in the end, Asher would know it would be effective.

Asher ran to the first Santa's Helper. He grabbed the sword sticking out of it's knee and executed Shining Dragon Swarm, slicing it through the midle with the first part of the skill, then killing it with the third kick in the second part. "Shun'enkazan!" Asher shouted out the original name of the skill, and used Devil Lance to send it straight into another Helper's chest. Asher grabbed the blade again. "Rekuuzan!" Asher jumped and front flipped, slashing the enemy again with each flip until Asher was above it. "Rain frigid wrath upon thy enemies! Icicle Rain!" Asher chanted and shot down a rain of icicles to his target. He smirked as the Santa's Helper turned into red pixels and shattered, leaving little to no traces of its existence behind. Asher landed in the same place where it stood, and tossed the sword to Kanna.

"Thanks, Canon." Asher said, smiling whilst keeping his guard up in an unarmed fighting stance, should any of the Helpers aggro'ed him.

The <<Helpers>> were falling one by one and <<Santa Claus'>> healing break was rudely interrupted by one of the cloaked players who had finally revealed herself to be none other than Refa herself. Kahlan's suspicions were true and she grinned remembering the fiery attitude of the girl finally making herself known. The Paladin winced and her hand shot up to her cheek were both the <<Santa Claus'>> candy cane sword AND the other cloaked player's sword had nicked her cheek making a large X shape. A few of her golden hairs were sliced as well and Kahlan swore to herself that she would get her payback later. Theyhad been so close, their faces almost touching. Appearing out of no where, the player surprised Kahlan just enough for her to duck at the last second, dodging his blade as he swung at a <<Helper>> that was behind her. She shook her head violently. 'No no no!!! Now's not the time to get flustered!' If only she could've seen his face.

Things were looking very good. The <<Helpers>> numbers were dwindling and everyone was in extremely high spirits. Time to finish this. Kahlan leapt back away from the battlefield and observed. There were only a few left, plus they were all cornered into a convenient spot by the <<Sparrow's>> blades and The Voice of Treason's assaults. Each still had a few health bars left but it would be no problem. Easy prey.

"Sparrow! Treason boy! And You!!" She addressed the player who was STILL cloaked. "Good job! I'm going to finish this so we can help Miss Red over there with the main course! Please keep the rest of the <<Helpers>> in one spot for thirty seconds at the most. Once time is up, get the hell out of the way!"

A large magic circle encircled the blonde as she struck the pose for one of her high level spell prompts. Her arms were outstretched out in front of her as her blade began to float in mid air in front of her outstretched hands. It's light grew with stunning intensity and the <<Helpers>> were suddenly frozen, inflicted with the auto <<Stun>> effect her sword's attribute's activated. She began.

"Be gone, shadows
Thou of the unseeable
Fade back into oblivion, if of darkness
Be returned to the immaterial
Ask not me, my answer is clear
In my hand is light. Know that all is in this hand
I am the truth of creation,
In face of all things, thy defeat is certain."

Particles of light weaved themselves around the Paladin's arms and her sword was no longer a sword but a bright rod of light. Taking hold of where the hilt was located, the blonde, her face, eyes and flowing braid now gleaming against the light took hold of her demon sword <<Aeon>>. She was done with these pesky bastards. She should have released this skill from the beginning. Things would've been much easier but fighting with the others certainly was a thrill and she enjoyed every second of it. She remembered the first and only time she had used this spell. With as much power her voice could muster, Kahlan: The Strong willed Paladin of Light cried out to the frigid snowy air trusting her sword skyward,

"AEON!!!"

A blinding beam of light erupted violently from Kahlan's blade. The narrow beam rocketed through the dark clouds in the sky and the entire battlefield was illuminated with the charged light energy. A warm essence descended upon the area. The soothing calm before the storm. After a few seconds, the girl swung <<Aeon>> towards the ground and the sky flashed as if a million thunderbolts crashed through the heavens at the same time. The light subdued and the cold battlefield was dark once again. The <<Helpers>> lay on the ground, each impaled by countless giant glowing light shards that disappeared into white and yellow pixels as their deed was done. The silent, motionless <<Helpers>> did the same but their pixels were a blood red. Kahlan, almost depleted of almost all her mana, fell to her knees gasping for breath. Using her sword for support she sighed seeing her attack had struck. Now the path to the main boss was totally clear. The others could take care of it while she recovered.

Kahlan rasped a labored command. "What are you slackers all standing around for? Go kill that fat ass!"

Marius hung back as everyone else employed their own techniques. Back in a sort of party mentality, he was analyzing the group's strengths and weakness. They were clearly, all together, quite the formidable force. He caught on to Kahlan's plan to group them together, and decided to use <<Blade Tornado>> on them. However, the cloaked player's double strike and the Vermillion Sparrow's <<Phantasmic Killer>> did that job for him. As he was about to charge in with the other player, whom he now recognized as The Voice of Treason, also from before the reset, he saw one of the cloaked players charge the boss. So long as she didn't kill herself, Marius was fine with her ending snack time for fatty fatsalot. Then he saw the mask on the cloaked player break, and he couldn't stop himself from calling out "Refa!?" As she cast aside her cloak, he muttered "Yeah, thats Refa alright. Makes sense, I guess."

Realizing he had almost missed his oppertunity, Marius chased after The Voice of Treason, targeting one of the helpers, and causing it to burst into a flurry of pixels after a rapid barrage of strikes from his twin blades. Catching Kahlan's plan to finish them off, he hopped out of the way, allowing for her to use <<Aeon>>. Needless to say, he was quite impressed. Of course, he was also quite put off. Not one, not two, but three people had launched what he considered uber skills, skills so powerful that they could be called over powered. Few people knew about Marius's because he was certain he was the only one to have it. He had recieved it a few months after reclaiming the <<Gemini Blade>>, and wasn't even sure how he got it. It could generally be used with any sword type weapon, but the speed it used was enough to exhaust anyone without an extremly high speed skill to the point of collapse. He quickly weighed the pros and cons of using it, but decided in the end that it was better to use it now then later. "I hope you're paying attention," he said jokingly to the group. "because I'm only going to do this once."

Marius charged <<Santa Claus>> at top speed, which was incredibly fast in its own right. He dodged around its candy cane sword, getting behind its back. Triggering the unique sword skill, he dashed forward, sword extended, and launched himself faster then the eye could track. After landing the first hit, he immediatly propelled himself into a flurry of similar moves, launching himself in all sorts of directions. To someone watching, it was as if the <<Santa Claus>> was now surrounded in a reddish blur. The skill finished with Marius right above the boss, both swords ready to strike. Caught in the moment, Marius shouted "Lightning Derivish!" as he came crashing down, dashing back to the group after landing. Checking the boss's health, he found that that technique had nearly undid every bit of healing the boss had did. Realizing how exhausted he was from that, he said "Did everyone see that? Because I will not be doing that again." Big, red, and ugly let out a loud roar, clearly not to happy with being beaten down again. "Uh oh. I think I pissed it off again. Can someone grab its attention before it flattens me? I need to get my bearings here."

Before Refa got chance to attack, Kahlan with help of some overpowered attack cleared the path to <<Santa Claus>>. Marius of course wasn't sleeping and charged in to attack the red giant, doing his overpowered move. "Did everyone see that? Because I will not be doing that again," Marius said and the boss let out a loud roar, clearly not to happy with being beaten down again. "Uh oh. I think I pissed it off again. Can someone grab its attention before it flattens me? I need to get my bearings here."

"Idiot, you should have known better that it'll be angry! Besides what's with these flashy attacks! This guy can't kill us, he's totally not worth it," Refa exclaimed and charged towards <<Santa Claus>> drawing his attention to herself. It tried to hit girl with its sword, but now she used her full speed, making it hard for giant to hit her.

"Kyuu-chan, now!" Refa called and the fox instantly reacted and jumped on giant's head, blocking his eyesight. No matter how hard it tried, he could not shake Kyuu-chan off, because he had used his sharp claws to hold onto the boss. Red-head now had plenty of time to start her assault. She ran up to the struggling <<Santa>> and slashed its belly with her sword, making him stagger a little. Kyuu-chan jumped off the giant onto the tree while his master continued her assault. She sent one slash after another at <<Santa Claus>> who was now slowly backing away trying to avoid girl's attacks.

"Faster," First slash - misses, second - scratches the arm, third - misses.

"Faster," First slash - hits the chest, second - misses, third - scratches left leg, fourth - misses.

"FASTER," First slash - critical hit, second - scratches the right arm, third - hits the leg, fourth - misses.

Like that Refa continued striking <<Santa Claus>> with weak, yet very fast attacks. Each individual attack didn't do much damage, but if one looks into boss'es health bar, he'll see that it is slowly yet steadily decreasing. This was Refa's special yet not so special attack. It required nothing more then very high agility and endurance and Refa got plenty of chance building that in Inferna.

Unfortunately Refa can't continue this kind of assault forever, even with her high endurance, she will get to exhausted to attack after landing over 100 hits. In order to avoid being <<Santa Claus'es>> first target once it recovers from assault, Refa launches last slashes onto the legs, making giant fall into snow with a loud thud. Hopefully, someone will charge in to continue the job.

As soon as Kahlan told them to get out if the way, Asher had done so. He watched as multiple boles of lightning crashed down into the remaining Santa's Helpers. Then, the player in red charged at the boss itself, undoing all the health it had healed. The black cloaked player-who removed her cloak- charged in right after. Both had done a skill that made them exhausted. Santa Clause was left with at least one leg slashes open and a little health left.

"I guess I'm cleanup." Asher said, removing his sword from his sheath. Asher pivoted his feet and threw his sword at the downed boss, making the sword horizontally spin and slash Santa. Asher ran in and ducked down as the boss tried to retaliate by swinging its bag, but then Asher jumped and used Shoryuken. Despite its size, the boss was thrown into the air, leaving Asher with a lot of options after that.

He chose the more flashy way. Asher jumped and flipped, slashing Santa straight down the middle. "Rekuzaan!" Then he slashed the helpless fat man to the ground and used Assault Slash, dealing a critical because it was still lying on the floor. Asher hopped back a little to get some distance as Santa was recovering. Then, his eyes glowed as he shouted out his next two moves.

First, he started to run around Santa, going faster and faster as he used weak slashes on it. Each slash stopped the helpless boss, allowing Asher to continue his combo. Suddenly Asher charged right through Santa, dealing anamorphic additional five hits. "Hi Ougi: Zankou Roueijin!" Asher was far from done, however. He suddenly disappeared, and the flying Santa with no sleigh was surrounded by a multitude of slashes from all sides, each one making up a part of a magic circle to deal Magic Damage as well as physical. Asher then appeared from the bottom, and slashed upward to Dispell the magic circle and to send Santa sky high. It never got the chance to land because it was destroyed midair. "Slash of Eternity." Asher muttered, and sheathed his blade. Asher was exhausted from the usage of his two ultimate skills, probably even more because he used two.

Asher dropped to a knee from battle fatigue. He breathed heavily. "Now... You won't see THAT combo coming from me anymore..." Asher coughed and smiled.
