Nickname: Canon
Real name: Kanna Suzaku
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Appearance: Both in reality and in the virtual world of ACO, Kanna - better known as Canon - appears roughly the same, aside from a few minor differences. Feeling uncomfortable with the idea of controlling a body completely different than the one she was used to, Kanna ended up basing her avatar largely upon her own appearance, albeit an idealized version of it.
In the real world, Kanna is average-sized, standing at about five feet, five inches. She is thin, having little in the way of fat or muscle, and thus presenting a somewhat doll-like image. Her build, largely focused toward her arms and legs, is similarly fragile, with narrow shoulders, long, limber and yet dainty limbs, and a few curves that make it seem like whatever hand sculpted her appearance was aiming more for beauty than sturdiness or strength. Slender legs lead into a narrow waist, arched back, and flat stomach, the last of which blossoms out into a well-shapen, albeit average-sized figure. Set between a thin pair of shoulders, her head rests atop a small neck, generally assuming a somewhat downward-gazing air, averting her eyes from those people to whom she speaks. Notable in her real appearance, however, are several tell-tale signs that make her stand out sharply. Namely, she is an albino, her soft relatively well-kept and unblemished skin colored a pale, pinkish-white, matching well with her starkly silver-colored hair. Her eyes, also affected by this condition, are an unusual shade of amethyst, giving her a somewhat enigmatic appearance. Her aforementioned hair is long, and very straight. Her flowing bangs are always hanging just out of her eyes, either framing her face or draping themselves across it, and her mane of flocking locks is usually tied loosely back by a large black bow, but this accessory is largely decorative, not containing her hair to any extent farther than preventing it from blowing back over her head and into her eyes. Her general outfits are usually conservative, and normally consist of warm clothing, like jackets over blouses and such, sometimes even when it's warm, as she has a bit of a complex about her pale skin, and, although it's really not that bad, doesn't really like showing it.
In ACO, Kanna's - or, rather Canon's - appearance is very similar, but has several key differences. Her skin is a few shades darker than in real life, being fairly, but not all too prominently, tanned to a decent degree. Her build is similarly thin and limber, but has somewhat more muscle on her bones. While this isn't to an amazonian extent, it's slightly noticeable when compared to her real appearance. And, admittedly, she made a few slight alterations to her figure as a whole, slightly accentuating her natural curves and increasing her bust size slightly. Surprisingly, though, she didn't change the color of her now unbound, free-flowing hair, or her enigmatic purple eyes, perhaps because in a game, such colors are much more common in real life, and hence she wouldn't be viewed as unusual. In-game, her outfit consists of a light armor vest of black leather and a short, dark vermillion skirt trimmed with rippling patterns in a shade of orange-gold. Over this gear, however, she wears several bits of rather fancy clothing, namely a high-collared capelet in the same hue as her skirt, trimmed, lined, and patterned with stylized wing emblems in the same color as the trim of her skirt. Over the aforementioned skirt, meanwhile, she wears a knee-length over-skirt in the same shades of vermillion as the rest of her outfit. Topping this ensemble off with black thigh-high stockings and a matching pair of tight, thin riding gloves and a pair of leather boots dyed the same red shade as her other garments, and emblazoned with more of her stylized golden wing emblems, she presents a rather striking image. Most notable, however, is probably the very large scabbard of well-polished, seamlessly crafted red wood, engraved with patterns in gold, that she carries over her back, holding her main weapon of choice: her main sword.
Personality: Canon's personality, when compared to that of her real life self, is rather surprising, in that it seems completely different from her actual self. In truth, perhaps Canon could best be called a facade, an act behind which Kanna hides her true feelings and thoughts. For such an act, though, it's remarkably well-done, and, at most times, doesn't show a hint of the timidity, weakness, or sorrows of her real mind.
In reality, Kanna is a very sad, hopeless person, who could easily be said to have very little will of her own. Timid and easily cowed, she finds it difficult to approach or speak to others, instead simply settling to do as she is told and just try to meet the expectations of those around her. But, over the years, she's ended up with a rather crippling inferiority complex, and generally maintains a state of defeatism, albeit an almost paradoxically determined one, always striving to please other people, but apologizing even before she fails, showing no confidence in her own worth or abilities. Because of all these factors, those who aren't simply disappointed in her often end up manipulating her to their own ends, asking her to do what they're too lazy to do, the unspoken threat being that they'll torment her unless she complies. Having been mocked most of her life due to her albinism and consequently unusual appearance, this sort of bullying is rather commonplace in her life, and she'll do almost anything to escape from it for just an instant.
As Canon, however, although distant, Kanna shows none of the lack of confidence of her real world self. Remaining aloof from others, she plays the game with an almost fanatical devotion, constantly striving to improve herself. With each victory, her confidence is bolstered, giving her a sense of independence she can never achieve in real life. She wants to be strong, to be able to defeat anything, no matter how tough it is, and so always works on growing more powerful, grinding for levels, obtaining rare gear, creating new spells, and otherwise improving herself.
In direct interaction with others, however, a little bit of her true awkwardness and social inexperience shows despite her attempts to prevent this. She's not very good at responding in social situations, generally ending up with single word replies out of a fear of saying too much or saying something she doesn't intend to, but not wanting to remain entirely silent. She takes most remarks at face value, and doesn't really get sarcasm very well. Rather reluctant to trust people and disliking her awkward nature, she generally stays aloof, doing things by herself instead of bothering others and embarrassing herself.
At being trapped inside the game, however, Canon's personality has changed somewhat. Now that there's actually a threat of dying, she finds it hard to be confident in herself anymore. She's scared. She doesn't want to die, but doesn't see any option but to fight, because she worries that if her body in the real world goes unoccupied for too long, something might happen to it. Atrophy, illness, and eventually death. Therefore, to continue surviving, she has to escape the game. But surviving long enough to do so will be hard, and she knows it. She doesn't think she'll make it, but above all else, doesn't want to die.
Biography: Born to a family of successful businesspeople, Kanna was pressured from a young age to excel. Her parents continuously hammered into her young mind the importance of study, and from the very start groomed her to be a prodigy, whether she liked it or not. Sadly, she wasn't exactly what they had wanted. A sickly girl, she found it difficult to go outside due to the ease with which she caught colds and her albinism, which caused her to sunburn incredibly easily. This condition also caused problems for her eyesight, limiting her vision somewhat. Although her parents were willing to tolerate these flaws, however, what they would not put up with was her lackluster performance in school. She studied diligently and tried her hardest to meet their standards, but, despite her otherwise good grades, she was frequently absent due to illnesses at first, which made it hard for her to catch up to her classmates. In addition, due to her unusual appearance, she was frequently either treated as weird, or insulted, mocked, and bullied outright, something which, in conjunction with her parents' tendency to be absent from home on business and their somewhat unfeeling attitude towards her, left her self-esteem in tatters. The only people she could call her friends were just her tormentors in disguise, and not even her own family would comfort her when she felt like she was a hopeless failure. Bit by bit, she slowly caved under pressure, becoming the timid, scared person she is today.
It was around this time that she found ACO. Originally taking up Virtual Reality as a means of entertainment to circumvent her poor eyesight, Kanna became enthralled with the incredible world and abilities that had suddenly become open to her. Quickly, she came to discard her real self as hopeless, but took new joy in her digital self. Canon was everything she, Kanna, wanted to be, and, with the help of ACO, she found that she could finally make her dreams come true, even if it was just a lie in the end. Because of this, she began spending less and less time in her real life, instead shutting herself in her room for days on end and simply playing for as long as she could. Swiftly, she grew to become a somewhat famous player in the community, gaining the moniker of Vermillion Sparrow after defeating an event boss based on the legendary creature single-handedly and gaining its special armor, a set of gear she's kept and uses up until this day. Yet, although she was well known, even in the virtual world she had essentially no friends. She turned down invitations to guilds, and simply played solo, doing things on her own, her own way. For a while, it seemed like things would go on this way forever. She would continue to fight, to become stronger, and to improve. And yet, to her horror, her dreams turned to nightmares in an instant, and she found herself trapped in the very world she'd so come to enjoy...
Equipment
Raiment of the Vermillion Sparrow: High-class light armor-set. Provides decent defense as well as a tremendous boost to speed.
Vermillion Talon: High-class two-edged longsword. Carries a wind enchantment that allows it to cut using the air it passes through, generating blades of solid wind that shoot from the blade as it swings. It also increases the speed of the user passively.
Gale: High-class single-edge dao sword. Carries a wind enchantment that causes it to release concussive blasts of wind when it connects with another surface, allowing it to deal a knockback when blocked, among other uses. It also increases the user's speed passively.
Tempest: High-class single-edge dao sword. Carries a wind enchantment that causes it to release a piercing lance of compressed air when it cuts something, allowing it to do extra piercing damage to a target. Sister sword to Gale. When both are thrown, they slowly converge on and eventually begin to orbit each other. It also passively increases the user's speed. When wielded along with Gale, it gives a considerable speed and strength boost. This boost isn't lost if the weapons are thrown, even if another weapon is switched to.
Other Equipment: Food, Water, Health and Mana potions, teleport crystals, and countless low to medium level swords and daggers of all kinds.
Magic Abilities
Sylphae Step: Basic spell, three words. Briefly condenses the air around the user, puppeteering it and accelerating them greatly for 15 seconds. During this time, they have a limited flight ability, as they can defy gravity to an extent.
Sylphae Arrow: Intermediate spell, six words. Condenses the air into twenty separate arrows, then launches them at a target. This spell homes and can target multiple enemies, and makes up for its somewhat low power in accuracy and numerous attacks.
Sylphae Cannon: Basic spell, three words. Condenses the air around a given object, propelling it at tremendous speeds at a given target and amplifying damage. This can be used on a throwing weapon to increase attack speed, damage, and accuracy.
Sylphae Barrage: Advanced spell, ten words. Same effect as Sylphae Cannon, but can be used on multiple objects at once. Much more powerful and precise, as well.
Sylphae Ward: Basic spell, four words. Creates a boundary of solidified air to defend against attacks.
Sylphae Blade: Basic spell, five words. Enchants a given weapon to increase its cutting power, causing the blade to oscillate rapidly, a blur of air encasing the weapon. Can be used on multiple weapons at once.
Sylphae Burst: Advanced spell, fourteen words. Condenses the air around a blade, then explodes this outward in a concentrated torrent of concussive air. Can be used from multiple weapons at once, which multiplies the effect.
Summon From Storage: Intermediate Spell, seven words. Summons a single item from the user's personal bank storage directly to their inventory. Can only summon weapon-type items.
Continuous Summoning: Advanced Spell, 25 words. Allows the user to summon as many weapons as they want from their personal storage directly to equipped throwing weapon slots.
Enma's Judgement Cut: Advanced Aria-type Spell, 31 words, with an additional 11 words as an optional phrase of the chant. These are divided into five lines, with an optional sixth.
This spell expends the entire remaining mana of the caster to briefly supercharge the all of the user's active weapons with overwhelming power of all elements, which then explodes outward upon striking a target, before collapsing inward and crushing the victim with tremendous force. This attack is an automatic critical hit. However, if every single part of the attack rolls a critical on top of this, it becomes even more powerful, and restores the caster to full mana so long as the user adds an extra line to the chant after the spell is used. Several other enhancement effects also exist.
The spell's power is determined by the remaining mana of the caster that is used up. A full mana bar is more powerful than an almost empty one.
The spell's power is also determined by the number of weapons with which the caster attacks as they deploy the spell, as the same effect takes hold of every weapon. If the weapons are part of a set, the attack is also more effective.
For each time the user attacks between the lines of the spell, it grows in power, as once the first line is chanted, the power in each sword begins to build up, charging further with each attack. However, all active weapons charge, even if they are not the blade being used to attack. These charges also build up if enemy attacks are blocked directly, or if direct hits are landed on the caster.
The spell also does extra damage against monsters and players who have attacked another player within five minutes of being hit.
And, finally, the lower the caster's HP is at the time of using the spell, the more powerful it is.
This spell is overwhelmingly damaging, capable of one-shotting even major bosses, if extensively prepared enough. The problem is that, to do so, one must essentially chant the spell throughout the entire battle while allowing one's own HP to be lowered, running a high risk of death before the attack can be activated. Furthermore, one has to have an extensive collection of matching weapons, and the proficiency to use them all at once. As things now stand, there's only one person in the game who can properly use this skill: Kanna.
The chant is as follows.
"The mind bores through the mountain.
The sword cuts through the river.
The power of light and darkness is within my two hands.
Black or White?
Finishing Move: Enma's Judgement Cut."
The optional line is as follows.
"Verdict: Guilty. Be consumed by the light and disappear into darkness."

Unique Combat Skill - Blademaster: Canon's trump card. Quite simply, the ability to seamlessly switch between all varieties of bladed weapon. This skill forgoes the requirement for Weapons Proficiency in scimitar/falchion type weapons, daggers, rapiers, katanas, one-handed swords, two-handed swords, dual swords, and thrown weapons, allowing its user to equip any of these weapons in both their primary weapon slots as well as in secondary "throwing weapon" slots and draw them at will, circumventing the need to open the items menu to change sword skills and equipped weapons entirely. Instead, the user can simply draw any of the equipped blades and begin using them at will. This includes allowing the wielder to use them individually, in combinations, or by throwing them, giving the user the power to not only seamlessly switch weapons, but also to use low to mid level sword skills from weapons trees which they have not otherwise acquired - I.E. using weaker Sword Skills from the dual blades tree without actually having that skill - as well as all of the Sword Skills they have gained in skill trees they have actually trained in. On top of this, the user can also trigger several Sword Skills unique to the Blademaster style, revolving around lightning fast combos with the weapons in use constantly changing and being thrown mid-attack. Possibly the most versatile battle style, as the wielder can instantly wield any weapon in their possession that is appropriate to the situation at hand, and by using thrown weapons can attack both at close and long range with a truly baffling web of simultaneous strikes, resembling more a literal rain of blades than actual hand-to-hand combat.
The Blademaster style has, however, several limitations. Firstly, it can only use the very lowest sword skills derived from other sword-type unique skills, and can only equip sword/dagger-type weapons, making it unable to copy styles using maces, hammers, axes, polearms, or other non-sword weapons. Secondly, it can only use blades which its user actually has the physical stats to equip, limiting its usefulness in wielding weapons not already aligned with its wielder's specialty even if it does circumvent the need for learning and training additional Sword Skills. Thirdly, although the number of "Thrown Weapon" slots in which the Blademaster user can equip additional weapons increases by one for each five levels taken in the style, and then becomes theoretically unlimited once the style is maxed, the number of weapons is still limited by the user's inventory space, as "thrown weapons" take up space in the inventory as well as on the equipment screen, which, although considerably more than a person in real life would be able to carry, still has its boundaries. Thus, for the user to equip a truly staggering amount of blades, they would have to sacrifice room in their inventory for healing potions/crystals, teleport crystals, and other such safety measures. Thus, while the user could, in theory, begin throwing literal storms of dozens of blades in quick succession, or cover the field around them with swords to be used, they would, by doing so, bring a greatly increased risk to their own life. Also, there's the ancillary problem of getting decent weaponry one has the stats to wield in such quantities, making the Blademaster style generally limited to switching and comboing with three or so core high-power weapons - in Canon's case being Vermillion Talon, Tempest, and Gale - with other blades generally serving a mere support role as distractions or last-ditch attack measures.
