Nickname: "Azure Paladin"
Real name: Kahlan Yuzuriha
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Appearance: Kahlan's avatar appearance in-game is only slightly different from her appearance in reality. In ACO she has the face and body of a 20 year old young woman when she is actually only 16. Wanting to look older and more mature in the virtual world, Kahlan is only 5'4" feet tall while in game she is slightly taller at around 5'5". Other than her older looks, she looks pretty much the same all around. She has Golden blonde hair which she always keeps up in a bun with a single braid surrounding it and her signature blue ribbon which she always has adorned on her head. Her eyes are a very light emerald and turquoise that always seem aglow and a very feminine figure. In game, her facial features take on a more sharper and defined look, turning her from cute feminine school girl to a virtuous warrior. As she is taller, her body features are also more defined. In game, you will usually see Kahlan in her armor and blue dress.
Personality: In game, Kahlan is usually a quiet individual. Keeping to herself most of the time, she does not say more than she has to. This does not mean she is closed off, for she is quite the opposite. Kahlan is very social and loves to interact with the other players and is quick to make friends. She is extremely protective of those she cares about and strives to do everything in her power to free herself and the rest of the players from this death game. Despite her quiet disposition, Kahlan has a sense of authority about her. She is extremely stubborn with her ideals and will not take "no" for an answer when she gets serious. A quiet leader, Kahlan usually has become the leader of most dungeon raids she has been in acting as the "tank" of the party for being able to take continuous damage due to her enhanced armor and fighting style thus she was dubbed the title "Azure Paladin" or "Azure Guardian". Sacrificing magic spells for defense, stamina and sword based magic attacks, overpowering swordplay is her main fighting style, putting everything into her attacks not letting her enemy, even once, to have the upper hand. There is a downfall to this however. Though she is a very tactical fighter Kahlan often makes the mistake of overestimating the enemy. Being extremely protective of others and depending heavily on her high class armor to protect her, she rushes into the battlefield at times putting herself in danger when her comrades are in need. But her ability to fend of hordes of monsters single handedly has dubbed her the rightful title "Azure Paladin" and those who have been in a party with her knows that this silent guardian can fend for herself.
In reality though, Kahlan is not as quiet as she seems. Generally outgoing and kind of a loudmouth, she tends to be extremely pushy and bossy at times, though with good intentions. She is a hard worker but it tends to go overboard to the point where she totally burns herself out at times. She is also very self critical and is never satisfied with the things she does.
Biography: Kahlan was born into a high class business family, her mother being of English descent and her father of Japanese descent, she was often pressured to be the best to live up to her families expectations. She was the rich, pretty girl who always was involved with everything. She HAD to be the top of her class. She HAD to be the best in sports. She HAD to play her instruments better than anyone else. And she HAD to be the leader of all the school events and activities. Though she didn't mind being on top, Kahlan always felt that something was wrong. This wasn't HER. All of this popularity and leader stuff was just how her parents wanted her to be seen. She felt fake.
Kahlan was a closet otaku. This is because her parents would never approve for her father was against all things otaku and more. She wanted to take up game designing in the future but could never find the courage to tell her parents for they wanted her to take control of the family business in the future. She was stuck. Being that rich kid everyone admired but that no one understood, she felt as if everything she had lived for had been for nothing. But then came ACO. During one of her all nighters of anime and gaming, since she could never express her hobbies in the light of day, Kahlan stumbled across a blog that was reviewing the new fully virtual game hit, Antivia Chronus Online. From what she read, it was by far, state of the art and "a new experience" compared to the other virtual games she had heard about. This one apparently had new technology where time was different in game than in reality where the player could spend hours, even days in the game without even wasting a day in the real world. Thinking she needed something to just escape from it all, Kahlan bought the gear and the game on a whim that she would have her fun and move on to something else. She had never been more wrong about something in her life. ACO, she found out, was not just a new experience, it was a new life. Here, she could be whoever she wanted, whenever she wanted. No boring school, grueling lessons and sports and the best of all: no parents telling her how to live her life. It was heaven. She spent whole nights in the game and whenever she had free time and even when she didn't, Kahlan bounded up the stairs, locked herself in her room, slipped on the gear and immersed herself in her new "world". She met new people and made friends. Traveled to strange lands and fought raging monsters. This was HER world. She was the hero. She had become the ruler of her "life". It was freedom.
But all this bliss came with a price. Of course, Kahlan became more and more addicted to the game. She spent all of her time on it, neglecting her studies, practice and even family. Who needed real life when you could do anything you wanted in a different life? Her parents were quick to notice but were unaware that she was playing the game. Confused and stressed about their only daughter's decline in academics, the Yuzuriha's tried to find out what was wrong, punishing her, grounding her in her room and taking away privileges. Little did they know that this was only giving the young girl more time to spend on the thing that was destroying her. Soon, her friends began noticing the effects of the game. Kahlan was not her outgoing friendly self anymore. She was irritable, moody, and antisocial always on her phone, researching and reading things about the game. They began drawing away from her, but Kahlan never noticed. The only friend she needed was the game. One day, after having a nasty quarrel with her parents, Kahlan locked herself in her room for a whole month, doing nothing but living in her fantasy world.
That was when things changed. During that month, the rules of the game were changed. "Life" was added to the game. People now had to live as they would in real life but they had monsters to deal with. At first, Kahlan dismissed the idea. Death would just make things more exciting. She didn't need to worry. She soon found out later though that it did matter. She came down with a deadly sickness a day later after a poisonous wound that was given to her by a monster boss she was fighting. She ignored it, and since she was out of antidote potions, she calculated that she had just enough health to make it to the next town to buy one. Something strange happened along the way. Kahlan began to feel dizzy. It got so bad that she could not stand and fell face first on the ground, unable to move. With a burning fever, she struggled to crawl the rest of the way. It was torture. Her body was on fire and blistering headaches tortured her head. Fortunately a lone traveler was riding in the same direction and helped her to the town giving her an antidote. But the sickness never went away. She had the intense headache for the longest time. Unable to walk or talk. Her vision was impaired and she could not even see her hand in front of her face. There on the bed she realized that this game was more real than she had thought. She could actually die. And this frightened her.
Finally recovering after a month, Kahlan entered the game once again with a new resolve. Her mind finally cleared from the cloud of obsession from the game, she decided that even if she hated life, her life was her's to change if she wanted to. Deciding that she would tell her parents exactly how she felt about everything, Kahlan joined forces with other players to free themselves from the death game becoming the valiant warrior she is now.
