Full Name: Luzelena Machín-Suarez

Nickname: Luz (Yes, it's pronounced like "lose." Don't start.)

Age: 23

Birthdate: November 4th

Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual

Apartment Number: 1B

Occupation: Biomedical Engineer. Kind of.

Likes: Justice and Order | James Patterson novels (the legal dramas, not this kid shit he's churning out) | Dancing, then Ice Cream (in that order) | Winning | Herself | Spanish poetry

Dislikes: Idiocy and Intolerance | Any and all Techno Music | Sad stories | Liars | Bananas

Fears: Failure | Humiliation | Flying

Dreams: To succeed at her new job | To actually find a guy worth all the work | To be able to fly by herself | To start a mentoring group for girls at the local high school

Secrets: Luz's brother is in jail... she doesn't talk about it not ever and not to anyone, but she writes him a letter every week and calls about once a month. A couple of her friends have noticed the letters, but she shuts down when they mention it. She only makes the calls from her cellphone and never anywhere near the house.

Personality: Luz considers herself to be a very straight-forward person. She doesn't lie or prevaricate. She says what she thinks when she thinks it and it doesn't bother her much if that bothers you. The ones who mind don't matter and all of that sentimental crap, right? That's not to say that she's cruel. Luz makes an effort not to be mean but the fact that it takes effort bothers her a bit sometimes. She's a smart girl-- she graduated early from a program that was heavily dominated by guys and did so with honors-- the problem is that she doesn't have much of a tolerance for nonsense or stupidity or lying or insincerity and she's quick to make that known. She's very passionate and feels things strongly. Sometimes she can get swept away by her emotions and doesn't think before she speaks. Her temper is notorious. Still, she makes up for her sharp tongue and frequent swearing by being a loyal friend who is always ready with a (grudging) apology. But only if you can convince her she was wrong...

History: Luzelena was born in Cuba, smack in the middle of Havana, to a loving mother and father and a protective older brother. She knows now that they didn't have a lot back then and that her mother and father struggled, but at the time she had no clue. She was happy, healthy, and didn't know any other way of life. Her parents did everything to make sure she and her brother never were hungry or wanting. When she was eleven, they left, and Luz has never asked exactly how they managed that one. They moved to Spain where her father became a shop-keeper and her mother did everything from washing laundry to watching children to selling home-cooked meals to make ends meet. Luz loved her father, but she positively worshiped her mother. She learned to be strong from her mama and how to make things happen. She was also extremely close to her brother, Ivan. Ivan was protective of his sister, taught her to fight, tutored her when she needed it, everything. When she graduated high school, Luz decided to go to America for college. All of her friends told her it would be impossible. She barely spoke English, she didn't know anyone, and she sucked at math. She told them to go eat mud. Three years later, she spoke English with barely a trace of an accent, had won homecoming queen, and had graduated at the top of her class. She took the standard two years to get her master's and is in her first month at her new job.

So begins...

There were a very few things in this world that Jack Mills couldn't tolerate. On the whole, he was a pretty easy-going guy. All he needed was a functioning AC unit and some beer and he could be happy anywhere. And maybe a few of Keira's muffins...

But Jack hated being woken up.

Jack groaned and rolled onto his back as his cell phone began blaring at him from the bedside table. Blearily, he peered at the time. 3:26? Oh, you've got to be shitting me... It took a couple of tries, but he managed to snag the phone and hit the answer button.

"What?" he snapped.

"Keira's in the Bean again."

And just like that, Jack was awake. Of the few things in this world that irritated Jack enough to make him snap, none of them were bad enough that hearing Keira's name couldn't make it better. He sat up sharply and rubbed a hand over his face. "I'm on my way," he said and hung up. He didn't bother changing out of his pajama pants and wife beater, he didn't even put on any shoes. He was very used to making this late night trip to the Bean to retrieve his best friend. He could almost take the trip out of the apartment, down the steps, and into the next-door building in his sleep.

"Where?" he said as soon as he was through the door. Even in the dead of night, the Mighty Bean smelled like coffee and baking bread. Mr. Black, the owner, just waved a hand towards the kitchen, yawned, and stumbled back towards the row of booths. Jack rolled his eyes and followed his directions. No sooner had he rounded the corner did he see Keira, propped up against the door to the kitchen, breathing deeply. Jack smiled. She was still wearing the black dress she'd worn to the bar, though her feet were bare and her hair was messy and falling into her face. He took a moment to smooth her hair back gently.

"Come on, Keira, time to go to bed," he murmured. These little episodes were common enough that he knew what to do. Normally, she would follow direction pretty well and it wouldn't take any effort to get her back into bed. Sometime, if she'd been having a nightmare, she'd whimper or try to pull away, but tonight she seemed calm. She sighed a bit and leaned into him and Jack caught himself wondering if this was what it would be life if...

And that is never going to happen, he told himself sternly. He walked Keira out the door (he tried waving at Mr. Black, but he was already snoring), back into the Red Building, and into his apartment. He hated having her sleep on the couch, but he knew she'd be uncomfortable if she woke up in his bed, so he grabbed a blanket and pillow from his closet (a set he'd bought especially for her because the pattern of autumn leaves around the edges reminded him, inexplicably, of her hair) and tucked her in. He made sure to lock and bolt the front door before he stumbled back into his room and into bed.

...

He wasn't sure how much later it was when he heard a soft knock at the door and Keira's lilting voice. Her accent was always stronger early in the morning. Jack yawned, sat up, and groaned. It seemed the night before was catching up to him. Luckily, Keira's pancakes were a miracle hangover cure. He took a few minutes to wash his face and rub a hand through his hair and then stumbled out to join Keira, who was sitting at the island with a plate full of breakfast in front of her. The kitchen looked like someone from a fancy magazine had taken over, everything laid out perfectly.

"Good morning, Ms. Cullen," he said teasingly. Or at least that's what he had been going for. It came out as more of a moan. He stopped by the coffee machine to set it brewing and then loaded a plate with some of everything, though he paid special attention to the pancakes. He settled himself into the seat next to Keira and started pouring syrup over everything on his plate. "Don't ever let Danny con you into a drinking contest," he mumbled. "That guy cheats."

Luz was enjoying a particularly wonderful dream. She and Danny Foster were on a beach in Spain eating vanilla bean ice cream and he was telling her how sexy he found strong women who could successfully prep five samples of tissue at the lab in under an hour. He was just getting to the part about how much he hated domineering, sexist, judgmental bosses who refused to give their lab techs a chance when...

"Suarez? Suarez! I know you're in there, open up?"

Luz's eyes popped open wide and then narrowed into slits. She threw herself out of bed, snatched up her phone, and wrapped a robe around herself. Quickly, she typed up a text to her friend Eva and sent it.

[Feliz cumpleaños! (That's "y'all have a good birthday" in Spanish) :D <3 Lunch later?]

She smiled for just a second, and then let it drop as she wrenched the door open. The landlord, Bernard Gilligan, started, his hand still raised to knock.

"It's Machín-Suarez. What do you want? Stop breaking down my door, you'll wake up my roomate. Do you know how early it is?" she snapped. Gilligan wilted some, but then seemed to get some of his nerve back.

"Your rent is due," he retorted. Luz raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms over her chest.

"Yea, I know. I know what day it is. You think I'm dumb?"

"I-- no. But you haven't paid--"

"I told you two weeks ago. The two back burners on our stove are broken. You fix the stove, I give you rent. Did you get my message?"

"Yes, but--"

"Did you fix the stove?"

"No, but--"

Luz shut the door. Gilligan sulked and banged on the door for another few minutes, but Luz shouted a few choice words in Spanish and he mumbled something under his breath and thudded down the stairs. After all of that, there was no way Bella wasn't awake, so Luz didn't bother being quiet anymore. She threw some leftover pizza in the oven to warm and flipped on the radio.

"Did you hear that crap?" she shouted at Bella's door, hoping to coax her out of her room. She needed someone to complain to. When she didn't immediately hear anything back, she pulled out her phone again. She hesitated a bit on who to text... Danny's name was inviting, but she felt oddly shy about it ever since... ugh. She hit Walt's icon instead.

[Fucking Gilligan...] she wrote and sent it.

Danny smiled down to Cajun as she turned to hug him, a feeling of relief washing over him as he hugged back slightly tighter than her. "Oh thank god, I'm storing that information and using it against you from now on." He teased, really contented that she had said that. He had lost a lot of friends in the past because of his teasing and flirty ways. At the mention of fixing a plate, Danny rubbed his hands together already looking to the food, "Alright, you go do that Evan, don't worry about rushing though, I'm gonna be here for a while." He just smiled slightly as she kissed his cheek, and being as experienced as he was, really saw it as nothing. He served himself a big plate, sitting over at the table as he stuffed his face with food. Danny pulled his phone out, seeing several messages from random girls always made him shake his head. He just put them under the grouping he always put them under, 'Hot Chicks from the Club'. He raised an eyebrow as he saw there was no text from his roommate and bro, Jack. Danny shrugged a little, figuring he was still asleep. He sent out a quick message: 'Hey Lightweight, Not still tired from the party last night right? We should go for round two on that drinking contest, see if you can beat the master. But you better get your ass out of bed, don't forget you /have/ to come to Cajun's party or i will bash your head in. -Love Danny He smirked to his text going back to his food. He finally paused for a moment looking down to Juno who was looking from Danny to the plate of food in front of him. He chuckled, grabbing a piece of bacon and throwing it up, the Great Dane snatching it out of the air. Danny laughed, patting the dogs head. There was no possible way for him not to be entertained in the apartment. "Hey Eva?" He yelled out, hoping she could hear him and he wasn't talking to himself, "We should go out to the gym later! Or just out in general, you know for your birthday." He yelled out as he was eating. It was already decided that it was his job to make sure that Evangeline was kept busy and away until the surprise party rolled around, so he wasn't about to take no for an answer.

Walt looked blindly to the legal papers of his mock case, trying to decipher the words through his sleep deprived eyes. How long had it been since he last slept anyways? Looking over the clock reading 3:46 AM in big blaring red letters, he blinked slightly. That would make it around 20 hours at his point. "Oh that's practically nothing." He muttered to himself, shaking his head, trying to wake himself. "Come on Walter, you have to be able to do better than this." He spoke to himself, standing from his very organized desk, setting his pen down in it's usual place. Walt paced around his room for a few minutes, which of course was always kept very clean and organized. He always tried to resist being a freak about the cleanliness of his home, but he couldn't help himself most the time. With a large sigh, Walter fell back onto his neat bed, closing his eyes for a split second. When he opened them again it was to his phone buzzing. He looked over to his clock, several hours had passed in a matter of seconds. Walt groaned, picking up his phone, slightly refreshed after the few hours of sleep he did get. He couldn't help the small smile on his face from the text Luz had just sent him. It was short but knowing Luz was enough to figure out all there was to know in the short text. He fired back a quick reply, 'So what did the landlord jerk do this time? And are you are planning on going to Evangeline's party today?' he sent the message, which actually reminded him to send a quick message to Cajun, 'Happy birthday! Say out of trouble!'. He hopped out of bed, smoothing out the sheets before heading downstairs to the kitchen, still in his pajamas. He poured himself a bowl of cereal, half heartily eating half the bowl before throwing it out and cleaning the bowl quickly. Before he did anything else he went up to his room, opening the closet that displayed his outfits in an organized fashion, color coded and all his shirts hung up, pants neatly folded and shoes in rows on the floor. Walt quickly pulled out a plain white dress shirt and jeans. He changed just as quickly, still buttoning up his shirt when he knocked on his roommate's door, "Hey Leelo! Wake up call! Guess who's birthday it is?" he asked, smiling to himself, it was of course obvious that Leelo liked Evangeline, to Walt at least, "So are you going to... try tonight? or at least ask her out?" Walter questioned, prying into his friend's life was rather uncommon for him but he really couldn't help it, he was excited for his friend. But of course what kind of friend would he be if he wasn't willing to help his friend get the girl he liked? Not a perfect one, that's for sure.

Evangeline opted for a bath over a shower – Really, she just wanted to be in some hot water. She groaned as she slid into the tub, letting her hair tumble down around her stomach before leaning back. She closed her eyes until she heard Danny calling out to her followed by the creaking of the bathroom door. “Gym first! Then the zoo! And the pet shop! You're getting me a new pet!” She glanced at the creaking door, snatching a rag to cover her exposed goodness until she saw that it was just Beezel. “Sugar, this bathtub will fall clean through the floor if you get in here.” She giggled at the snake who simply rose his head up some before turning around – Cajun imagined he was pouting.

“Can you feed Mornin' Glory, Juno, and Moto? And please give Beezel a couple more mice. I think he's still hungry. And bring me my phone?” Cajun felt comfortable enough with her playboy friend to have him moving around the house and tending to her animals as well as walking in on her in the bath – It wasn't the first time. He once got in the shower with her because he was too drunk to realize that she wasn't the girl that he had left at his apartment.

Danny chuckled to himself, shaking his head at Evan's amusing demands. He looked down momentarily to his now empty plate as Cajun asked him to feed all the animals. Once again he was excited. It really was like a petting zoo and now he got to feed all the animals. He put his plate in the sink, heading to the pantry where most the animals' food was kept. First was two bowls, a large one filled with dry dog food and the other smaller bowl filled with dry cat food. The large black dog came first, beginning to eat even before Danny could set the bowl down. Moto came towards the food at a more leisurely pace but began to eat as well. With a smile and a quick turn towards the kitchen, Danny had to struggle slightly to remember what it was that Morning Glory was fed. It took him a few minutes before he recalled sometime when Cajun had been chopping up fruit for the Sugar Glider. He pulled out a few pieces of fruit, chopping them up and putting them in a dish, putting the dish in Morning Glory's cage, running his thumb over the top of it's head before going towards Eva's bedroom.

He grabbed the phone from the bed, entering the bathroom and smirking, "Are you trying to make a move on me?" He teased coming a little closer to her and handing her the phone, peaking down for a split second but finding that she was practically covered up. He stepped back, almost tripping over Beezel. "There you are, you little snake." he muttered, gathering as much of Beezel as he could into his arms, still most of him being dragged out, "You better start thinking about what you're getting and it better be awesome." Danny nodded towards Evangeline, referring to the pet he was to buy. as he dragged the snake back into the bedroom onto the bed. He fed the giant python at least three more mice, smiling as he pet the scaly skin as the snake ate. "You're welcome by the way!" Danny said loud enough for Eva to hear from the bathroom.

“Yes, because we all know that I'm cravin' for you somethin' fierce.” It was true - Except the part about people knowing. The Bayou Belle rolled her eyes yet again as she took her phone from Danny's hands. “Thank you – And I plan on getting three more Sugar Gliders!”, she called out after him, checking her text messages. A smile graced her face as Luz's was the first one she read.

[Aww, thanks sug! Hope you got me somethin real nice! You remember that real pretty purse with the fleur d'lis on it, right? ;) Definitely up for lunch! Can we do Ruby Tuesday's? And please don't be eatin stale pizza for breakfast again. You know my door s always open. Silly. *kissy face*]

She sent off the text message before getting to Walt's. Oh, how she adored Walt! He was better than the older brother she had back home.

[Thanks! And that's a big order to fill – Danny's taking me out for the day. Isn't that nice? Oh! And breakfast is ready. <3]

She smiled as she sent it before putting her phone on the floor. She only soaked for a little while longer before getting out of the tub and draining it.

She disappeared into her room, wrapped in a towel only to find Danny there. Shaking her head, she grabbed some clothes after rummaging through her dresser and went back into the bathroom, emerging a few minutes later wearing a pair of white sweatpants and a tank top that outlined her body very well – Danny had bought it for her to wear to the gym a few months ago. Needless to say, she was sure he bought it half a size too small on purpose. She didn't say a word as she sat at the table and looked down at the empty spot, highly expecting Danny to fix her plate – It was her birthday, after all. She tapped her fingers gently on the tabletop, waiting for him to return to the kitchen area where she was starving.

Danny raised an eyebrow as she came out wearing the outfit that he had bought her so she could actually have something to exercise in. It was rather innocent, he really just wanted someone to work out with and Evangeline was the first person to come to mind, he picked up what he thought her size was and apparently it was too small. But damned if she doesn't look good in it. Danny couldn't help as his eyes trailed down her frame as she walked to the kitchen.

He cleared his throat, taking a moment to adjust himself before following her and sitting beside her. It took a moment to read the signs but he eventually did get it, he stood, smirking, "You know what, let me make you a plate." he laughed softly to himself as he walked over to the food she had made, making her a plate and making himself another plate. He sat down placing her plate in front of her and his in front of him. It wasn't uncommon for him to eat multiple servings of her food, it was the best of the two buildings after all. "Are you really going to get more Sugar Gliders? What are you trying to do, build a Sugar Glider army?" He teased, standing, "I got to go change if we're going to the gym. Don't touch my food." He said, walking towards Cajun's room, already pulling his shirt off.

As he entered the room, he automatically went towards the drawer that contained his things. It hadn't started out as anything really and hadn't really been declared his drawer, it's just that he had accidentally left his things around so often and Eva would always leave them in that drawer. It just sort of became his drawer. As it was changing it sort of dawned on him how all of his stuff was here already sort of like a... "Hey, it's almost like we're dating, with all my stuff over here, just you know, no sex or kissing or any of the good parts at all." He said, sort of uneasy at the prospect of being in such a serious relationship but shaking it off. 'We're only friends.' He thought to himself, trying to reassure himself that it was nothing more and that she wasn't trying to use him at all. He shook his head, walking out in his basketball shorts and a cotton v-neck and sitting down, eating again.

She smiled, pleased as she began to eat her food, though in mock spite she stole three strips of bacon from his plate and scarfed them down before digging into her own food. Oh, dear God her food was delicious! She savored each and every chew, counting the carbs in her head. She had a figure to keep, after all. She lifted her head up some as Danny came back into the kitchen with his remark. She lifted a brow at him and snorted. “Yeeeaah. You're undateable, Danny...No offense.” It was her turn to do the teasing now, sending a wink and a smile his way.

Danny scoffed, putting on an expression of mock anger at the comment, but it quickly faded into laughter as he shook his head. He looked down to his plate raising an eyebrow, "You ate my bacon. I'm sorry but I can't be friends with bacon stealers." He teased right back just a tad flustered at being 'undateable', "Pshh, who needs to date when I have you to cook and take care of me. That and when I'm getting laid every night?" he gave a cocky grin, leaning back in his chair and folding his hands behind his head. For some reason he always liked to brag about how many women he's been with, to everyone he'll brag, it's like a natural conversation piece at this point in his life. "Besides, who would I even date?" He questioned, more rhetorically than anything.

“Who needs dating? I don't know. People who like knowing that there's someone that really loves them. Someone who likes comin' home to tight hugs and gentle kisses after a long, hard day. People who don't care about havin' nothin' as long as they got that someone that makes their eyes light up and their heart skip a beat when they see 'em or hear from 'em. People need love, Danny.” She answered him with that dreamy look in her eyes that she got when she watched movies like The Notebook and The Vow.

“And, if you don't want to be friends with a bacon-thief, then I guess that means I don't have to take care of you no more.” The teasing never ended with those two. Though with his last question, she just coughed and blushed, shoveling a forkful of eggs into her mouth while looking the other way. She didn't dare tease him with the answer “Why not me?”.

He was a little mystified at the dreamy look in her eyes, she seemed in her own world as she explained exactly why she thought people needed love. With the shell that Danny had developed over the years, he'd learn a lot of lessons with 'love'. Like how painful it actually was. And how he neither needed it nor wanted it. Danny was tempted to say all his thoughts out loud, express his actual contempt for the word 'love' in general. But the look in Evangeline's eyes make him keep his mouth shut. She really did believe what she was saying, she still thought it to be true. Who was he to disregard her hope as misplaced?

Danny just smiled slightly to her, "Well even if you stopped taking care of me, you're not gonna stop cooking for me, you're food is too good for me to just stop eating it." he took a bite of his biscuit as if proving his point. He chewed thoughtfully as she seemed to avoid eye contact with him, prompting Danny to raise an eyebrow at her. "Is something wrong?" he questioned.

“I'll stop cookin' for you whenever I feel like it.”, she retorted, giving a light scoff. Though, she honestly couldn't imagine she ever would. Except when she started dating someone or got married – But that was probably forever and a day away. She was like Danny in the way that she wouldn't give her heart out so easily after having it crush – He had been used for money and she had been used for sex. She paused for a moment, actually thinking about what it would be like to date Danny. Honestly, she couldn't see much changing.

She cooked for him, sometimes she cleaned his apartment, they hung out a lot, he teased her, she teased back. It was as he said: They pretty much already were a couple minus the kissing, cuddling, and sex. Minus the good parts, as he said. She gave a light smile and a giggle, though she quickly looked up at his question, shaking her head quite vigorously. “Huh? What? No! We should head to the gym.” She blushed and stood, having hardly touched her food.

Danny was officially confused at the very moment she giggled then looked up to him, acting very nervous about something. Exactly what that something was was a mystery to him. The weirdest part to Danny was that she had left the plate filled with her food. He tried to shrug it off, just nodding and picking up his plate, but something was off. He practically stared a hole through Cajun as he stood, trying to find a clue as to what could be bothering her. Clearing his throat, Danny made an attempt at conversation as they started to walk towards his car, after having to stop Eva's animals from following them out the door, "So has anyone else besides me actually wished you a happy birthday?" he asked, still glancing over to her.

As she slid into the passenger seat of his car, tucking her simple HTC Inspire between her flesh and the band of her sweatpants, she gave a nod. “Just Luz an' Walt so far. Its not even nine yet. An' its a Saturday.”, she reminded him. For a moment, she wondered where her roommate was – But, immediately assumed that she was at Jack's apartment. Sometimes Keira would sleepwalk down to the cafe and Jack would be the one they called. Mostly because the Belle's phone didn't do shit to wake her up, always going to voicemail. It took a great deal of noise to wake her up from her usual dead sleeps.

“Since...I'm turnin' twenty-one an' all. That means I can drink legal now and get into HUB...I want y'all to take me there tonight. But you gotta promise that you'll take me home. To my apartment. Not yours. She warned him, not wanting to end up as just another girl he slept with.

Danny chuckled to himself, looking to her as she started up the car, "And I'm the only one so far to come and actually greet you in person, aren't you just so grateful to have a friend like me?" he joked, smirking. He looked over to her as she made her demands for the second time today, these much more amusing that the first set. "Hell yes we're taking you, we're gonna get you smashed." Danny smiled widely, looking to the road, his smile dropping slightly but pulling it right back up, "Okay we'll sleep at you're house then." He teased, "And yes that was a joke, but I am going to see you again in the morning because I've always wondered what you'd be like hungover." He said honestly, "But don't worry about it, besides, I can name a few people that would kill me if I actually had sex with you while you were drunk." He smirked, chuckling to himself.

“Well, I ain't got to worry about that because even though you are a...what's dat word? Cad. Yes. Even though you are a cad, I know you wouldn't do that to me because I'm special.” She smiled widely, her face looking as innocent and pure as it ever had, though completely genuine in its sweetness as she spoke. She had no problems with him sleeping over at her place – He often teased that he might as well move in, considering how often he was over there. But she always just rolled her eyes.

Donning a wider smile, she rested her head against the window as they drove to the gym, a soft hum coming from her. It didn't take long to get there, and when they did, she immediately went for the treadmills. She knew that Danny was going to be lifting weights that were nearby, so they could still talk while they worked out.

Danny pretended to be offended at such a comment but ended up laughing. When they did get to the gym he smiled as they took the place they took basically every time, with her on the treadmill closest to the weights and him lifting weights at the machine closest to the treadmills, "So I take it you wouldn't be interested in a competition if we do happen to go to HUB? You know, a little drinking competition? Normally it's customary for the loser to pick up the tab but since you're the birthday girl I guess we could just make it a friendly competition in this case." He winked in her direction as he begun his exercise as he normally did, with pull ups, hardly breaking a sweat as he did a few sets.

“Let's not and say we did, 'kay?” No way was she going to get into a drinking competition with him. Of course she said that now, but she probably would end up doing it anyways after a few shots of tequila. She smiled as she started jogging at a 5mph pace, setting her phone in the holder for water bottles. She noticed from the side of her eyes that a group of four guys were moving with gusto towards Danny. As soon as his weights were set down, they wasted no time in assaulting him.

“Danny!” She seriously fell off the treadmill like the way you see in those funny videos on YouTube, her head smacking into the belt that was still moving. Grunting, she forced herself up and ran to him as he was pushed off of the weight bench. And of course the lazy manager of the twenty-four hour gym wasn't around to do anything and there was hardly anyone else there. But those who were already had their phones out to call the cops.

That didn't stop Cajun. Oh, dear no. She immediately threw herself into the fray, pushing off who she could before her fists and feet started flying. She thanked the Lord that she had started going to the gym with Danny and that she had started dancing – She was stronger than she was in her teenage years when she was simply brawling. Maybe it would help if she took up boxing...

Either way, she got thrown down and away from the group a couple of times but she kept getting back up and fighting them off until the cops came with an ambulance right behind them. They had to pry her off of the main guy who was screaming at Danny for having slept with his girlfriend. Cajun was on his back with her legs wrapped around his waist as she tried her best to choke the life out of him with a sleeper hold.

Afterwards, it took a lot of crying and sniffling, but she managed to slide both her and Danny out of a trip down to the police station after they had given their statements. Instead, they were headed to the hospital. Of course, Cajun didn't know because she passed out on the pavement. But, when she did come to, she felt like shit. Her body was aching something fierce and she could feel the bandages on her face and a brace on her wrist. Shit! How was she supposed to do the Spring Recital with a sprained wrist?

She blinked rapidly and groaned until she could see straight. She felt someone on her bedside and glanced to see Danny sitting on her left, feeling his hand resting on hers. She felt a wave of dizziness before letting her head slam back into the pillow. Her head was pounding! Slowly, she began to remember a bit of what happened. All she could get out of the flickering images of her memory was beating up some guys...hurting her wrist...talking to the cops....and blackout.

She took a moment to catch her breath before speaking slowly. “You tell anyone that I fought today...And I will kill you, Daniel Foster. Never speak of this again.” Her voice was a weak whisper as she closed her eyes again, feeling his fingers curl around her hand.

He glanced over at her, remembering exactly what the doctor had said. She passed out from a concussion and hitting the pavement didn't exactly help that, she sprained her wrist on someone's jaw, and other than that, she just has some cuts and bruises on her face from hitting the sidewalk. He had suffered fewer bruises, a busted lip, and a nasal fracture. He had gotten his nose fixed, thankfully. Couldn't have his Adonis-like face ruined!

It wasn't but another five minutes before they were discharged from the hospital - Much due to their complaining of not wanting to be there. They skipped out on getting a prescription because the doctors were taking too long - Nothing that ice, good food, and some ibuprofen couldn't fix. The ride home was silent - Except for the time when she told him that if he told anyone, she would kill him, again. He was curious as to why she wanted to keep her epic brawling abilities a secret, though. There really was more to her than met the e and he was going to figure it out.

It was barely a two minute ride from the hospital to home and when they got there, he picked her up and gave her a piggy-back up to her apartment. She mumbled a thanks as he set her tenderly on the couch. "I really don't want to ditch you like this, but I should probably get cleaned up...I'll send Keira over." And he was gone, headed for his apartment. When he got there, he caught sight of Jack and Keira sharing breakfast. "Uh...Hey...Keira? Cajun's kinda broken." He still hadn't thought up of a decent lie to cover for her, so he just left it at that and assumed that Cajun had something planned already as he ditched towards the bathroom for a shower.

[Really need you right now. Bring the sappy stuff? I got snacks <3] She texted Leonard before tossing her phone over by the television. She wasn't mad at Danny - She couldn't be because it was her own fault she got beaten up. But she couldn't just stand there and watch. But, she was aching too much to think too hard about it for now, so she simply lay in wait for Keira and Leelo to get there, which no doubt would bring around Luz and Walt as well. She smiled softly knowing that her friends cared for her so much. Though, she was a bit sad that she didn't get to go to the zoo or the pet shop. She was going to cash in on that later, though. For now, curling up with Leelo watching her favorite sappy movies would be great.

"Patience?" Walter muttered, "Oh I think I need to work on that too." He nodded slightly, making a mental note to start that night. He watched his roommate head back to his room, shaking his head slightly. His friend was much closer to perfect than he was, always creative and passionate about the things he loved. Walt didn't even know what he loved. Well he loved his father, that's why he was doing all this. He wasn't even sure what he would do after making his father proud, it wasn't a very specific goal to begin with, and he wasn't even sure how he'd approach the man in the first place.

The apartment was silent for a moment, until Leonard yelled out something about time paying off. But before Walt could even open his mouth Leelo was already gone. So Walter was left alone in the apartment building, with only Fluffy. Now would have been a good time for him to practice that whole patience thing. "Nah." He shook his head, ploping down onto the couch, placing Fluffy in his lap. He took his phone out, trying to find a distraction. He saw the text message that Evangeline had sent him [Thanks! And that's a big order to fill – Danny's taking me out for the day. Isn't that nice? Oh! And breakfast is ready. <3]

Walter smiled at that, contemplating heading over for some Cajun made breakfast. Then an image of her large, black, terrifying Great Dane popped to the forefront of his mind, just the thought of the monster dog jumping on him made his shiver slightly, petting the much smaller cat curled up in his lap shaking his head, 'I think I'm good with breakfast, Juno's probably still over there and I'm not sure i need to have a heart attack today thanks. But if you go out with Danny at least be sure to be safe! And maybe spend more time with someone... nicer... like not Danny. But don't tell him I said that... seriously I don't want to die Cajun...'

He smiled slightly as he sent out the message, hinting at Leelo but not realizing that his friend was already over there. He frowned down at his phone as he saw there were no other new messages. He sent another message to Luz rather than wait for someone to text him, 'You should come over! I mean I'd come over but no boys allowed right? :P'

Luz was flipping restlessly through the channels on television. Bella was still asleep and now that she was up, she was too wired to go back to sleep. Her phone buzzed and she glanced at it. She smiled at Cajun's message, but didn't reply. Cajun was always nagging her to eat better, but Luz was too lazy to cook anything from scratch this early in the morning. She would go upstairs later to take her to lunch, though she'd probably save her present for the party tonight. She was just about to give up and go back to sleep when Walt's message flashed onto the screen.

[So what did the landlord jerk do this time? And are you are planning on going to Evangeline's party today?]

Luz snatched up the phone and was in the middle of typing a mile-long message on exactly what she thought of their dear landlord, but another message interrupted her.

[You should come over! I mean I'd come over but no boys allowed right? :P]

Luz glanced up at Bella's closed and silent door and then at the TV. With a shrug, she cut it off and loaded her piece of pizza onto a paper towel and skipped out the door. She was still dressed in her pajamas, a pink tank-top, loose flannel pants, and slippers, but it was a short walk next door to Walt's apartment. She didn't bother knocking, no one in their little circle kept their door locked except for her and Bella and the guys across the street.

"You're not going to believe that stupid Gilligan," she said as she came in, sliding out of her shoes. She started to walk into the living room, but she remembered at the last second to go back and set her slippers neatly by the door. "Morning, querido," she said and gave him a kiss on the cheek as she settled in beside him on the couch and started munching on her pizza, careful of crumbs. She knew Walt sometimes felt embarrassed about his need for order, so Luz made it a point to try not and stress him out. "Pizza?"

Walt was a little shocked when Luz suddenly came into his apartment, having been looking down to his phone, waiting for a response. But his expression of shock was soon replaced with a friendly smile, content to have a friend so he wouldn't be so lonely in the empty apartment. He appreciated the fact that Luz respected the rules he had, like placing shoes by the door, even Walt had to admit that some of his rules were over the top. But if he lived by them, then why shouldn't the others?

He smiled as she greeted and sat next to him on the couch, "No I'm fine, but what went on earlier, with Gilligan?" he questioned, looking down to the fiery redhead. "I've been curious all morning." Of the many people Walter admired for being more 'perfect' than he was, Luz was high on the list, she was very passionate about her cause and had this way about her that made Walt want to get passionate right along with her. Not to mention she was smart, and Walter always respected smart people.

"Oh and you're going to Cajun's party right? I'm pretty sure everyone will be there, you know from all the buildings." He explained, "I was going to go there before the party but apparently Danny's taking her out for the day or something like that." he said, unaware that she was back at her apartment.

"No, I'm fine," Walt said, so Luz took an extra big bite, "but what went on earlier, with Gilligan? I've been curious all morning." Luz rolled her eyes.

"This idiot was banging on my door at the..." she trailed off, trying hard to remember the phrase that she'd heard, "what's that that Jack says? 'The ass-crack of dawn'?" She paused for a minute to ponder that, but the shook her head a bit to get herself back on track. "He was banging on my door early this morning, screaming about his rent. This is two weeks after I told him that I'm not paying him anything until he fixes our stove!" She huffed and gave Walt a look. She knew that he had had similar experiences with Gilligan and he probably understood perfectly.

She wilted a little when she heard that Danny was taking Eva out for her birthday. She tried to hide it, but she was so used to saying whatever came to her mind that it was hard to suddenly hold something back. "They're spending the day together, huh?" she asked, trying to sound casual. It sounded fake even to her own ears. Luz suppressed a groan. Slowly, she was starting to realize that sleeping with Danny had been a bad idea...

Walt had to suppress a frown at the mention of Jack Mills, he still wasn't used to the fact that his friends were friends with him. He scoffed slightly after Luz explained what had happened, the exact situation having happening to him several times. "I swear, if an earthquake took down half the building he's still come around the next day asking for the rent." The dislike of the landlord was pretty universal, but in Walter's opinion the dislike was worse, mainly because he didn't try at all, and the one thing that Walter couldn't stand was when people didn't try at all.

He could see the way Luz seemed to droop a little after he had mentioned Danny taking Eva out. It was when she attempted to sound casual but seemed off that Walter grew suspicious. It couldn't be the bit about Eva being gone, he knew she wouldn't have been that affected by her being out of her apartment, so that really only left Danny. Walter already knew that he had to approach the conversation carefully, if he just out right asked if it was about Danny that might lead to her storming out. "Yep, that's what I've heard at least. But Danny, right? I mean Leelo doesn't like him, but I hear he's alright. Actually Leelo does bring up very valid points, he's sort of an ass isn't he? Like a really bad person to be with all those poor girls." He said nonchalantly keeping an eye on Luz for her reaction.

Luz tried to cover up her reaction by shoving the rest of her pizza in her mouth, but she could feel her face getting hot. She was sure she was blushing. Her heart was sinking in her chest. All of those poor girls... Was she one of those poor girls now? She knew that Danny didn't exactly see her the way she saw him and that he made a point of never making any girl official. They'd seen so many girls slinking out of his and Jack's apartment-- and never the same one twice. She crossed her arms over her chest and sank down into the couch cushions.

"He's not a bad guy," she mumbled. "And all of those poor girls knew what they were getting into, didn't they?" She was suddenly very aware of Walter's gaze on her face and she crossed her arms more tightly, fidgeting slightly. "It's not like they didn't already know all about Danny Foster and exactly--" Fuck it all, she was starting to get emotional. She jumped up, heading towards the kitchen. "Do you want some water? I'm going to grab some water," she said.

Jack started to feel better as soon as he started to eat. "You eat a lot, my friend," Keira told him and Jack gave her a crooked smile.

"I'm a growing boy," he told her. He smiled a bit as he remembered the night she'd wandered into the street after drinking too much. He could laugh about it now, but he'd thought he was going to have a heart attack at the time. There was very little traffic that went down their street late at night, but for once, there was actually a car coming. He'd scraped up his arm pretty badly, but Keira had been fine.

"I think playing Superman suits me, don't you?" he laughed. He was about to say something, but paused when Keira wrapped his arms around his shoulder and lay her head on his shoulder.

"Thanks again for being my babysitter, Jack Jack. You're a great friend." Jack only had time to move one hand up to touch her back before the door swung open and Danny, whose face was bruised and swollen, sulked in.

"Cajun's kinda broken," he said, and escaped into the bathroom. Jack jumped up at the same time as Keira, though he was looking after Danny. What the hell had happened? Keira dropped a kiss on his cheek and flew out of the apartment. Jack was a little frustrated that their time had been cut short, but he understood. He went to the bathroom door and knocked, hearing the shower running on the other side.

"Dude, what happened to your face?" he shouted.

Walt could only raise an eyebrow as he looked down to watch the reaction on Luz's face. He was almost expecting it but he certainly didn't want it to be true. It was out of character to say the least, Luz actually blushing. He frowned slightly as he realized it most definitely true, Luz had slept with Danny, or just really liked him. Walt prayed it was the latter. As she stood to go get some water he followed promptly, crossing his own arms across his chest, leaning against the counter and watching Luz closely. He really did need to word the next part of the conversation perfectly. "You know, you bring up some very good points I guess you're right." He sighed, "But how would you know? Really you've never done it? Slept with Danny. How would you even know what those girls know." he questioned, his tone somewhat harsher than he meant to get out, was he getting emotional? Over what, she was only a friend. Ah wait, he's just worried about her, as a friend. Walt cleared his throat, looking to Luz, "I mean, they had to have been drunk or something right? It was probably just a fluke and now those girls have moved on. Right?" Walter was not so subtly hinting that he knew, basically addressing Luz as 'those girls'. He probably needed to work on that too, being more subtle. He waited for her response, frowning slightly, he didn't aprove of Danny, especially not when he hurt his friends.

Image

Danny walked back to his apartment, feeling incredibly guilty about Cajun. He would always justify that his sexual history really was harmless since it could only ever effect him, but now it hurt Eva. Not to mention the fact that Evangeline bust out some serious fighting skills back at the gym, but it really confused him as to why she wanted him to hide such a talent. He just shook it off as he reached the apartment, basically telling Keira that her friend was broken then hiding in the bathroom for a shower.

As he was scrubbing some dried blood off of him, most of it from the guys Cajun beat up, Danny could hear his friend on the other side of the bathroom door. With a small sigh he turned the water off, stepping out of the shower and wrapping a tower around his waist. He opened the door to see Jack, "Some guy saying I slept with his girlfriend, not that big a deal." He said, bypassing his friend to get to his room, "Oh, dude, sorry for cutting your time with Keira short, didn't mean to cock block you bro." he said, heading for his closet and pulling on a pair of boxers, throwing the towel towards his bed, he pulled some black pants on, speaking again, "But you know, you'd think you'd have tapped that by now." he said nonchalantly.

Luz was not happy that Walt shadowed her into the kitchen, but she supposed she shouldn't have been surprised. He was as thorough in his friendships as he was with his cleaning. She listened, taking down from a glass from the cupboard (she had been there enough to know where everything was) and filled it with water from the sink. She listened as he needled and needled and by the time he was done it was pretty clear that he knew what was going on. Luz set her glass down on the counter with a little more force than necessary and glared.

"Yes, okay?" she snapped. "Yes, those girls were drunk and stupid and they weren't thinking and if they could take it back--" She cut herself off and covered her face with her hands. She groaned and rubbed her face tiredly. She couldn't stop herself from glaring at Walt when she put her hands down, but her glare was a little less heated. "Do you have something to say about it?" she asked. Her voice was hard, she was used to putting on a brave face, but something inside of her felt very small and afraid.

Jack rolled his eyes. He had been telling Danny for a while that he needed to be more careful about the girls he was constantly bringing home. It was inevitable that it would catch up to him eventually. He was a bit disappointed that he hadn't been there to have his back. "Of course. Do they look as bad?"

He went back to his room and made sure the door was closed firmly before he pulled his folders out of one of the drawers. He had a few notes that he needed to go over, he had a big quiz in one of his classes on Monday. He tried not to let Danny's comments about Keira get to him. Danny had a pretty different idea about girls than Jack. Jack wasn't shy about bringing home a girl or two, but it was practically a sport with Danny. Jack loved the guy like a brother, but he didn't always realize the way that his habits affected his little harem.

"Let it go, Dan," Jack shouted across the hall into Danny's room, though he smiled good-naturedly while he made a few notes on his papers. "You already beat me at drinking. I'm not going to let you pull me into a girl contest too."

Walt struggled to keep a stern expression, clenching his teeth as Luz snapped at him. He kept his arms crossed tightly across his chest as Luz spoke. When he spoke he tried to keep his voice stern and disapproving, "Well first of all do you have any idea how stupid...." Walt paused, unsure where he was going with his whole act and just stared at her for a second, frowning. A moment in silence passed, Walt uncrossing is arms and running a hand though his hair as he sighed, looking to the floor. He pushed off the counter he'd been leaning on, stepping to stand in front of her, placing his hands on her shoulders. "Okay, scratch that, I think that, those girls should know that I honestly don't think any less of them, and that... the past is the past." Walter smiled slightly, pulling Luz into a tight hug. When he pulled back he patted her shoulder, "You didn't want to... talk about it did you?" He questioned, chuckling nervously, really not wanting to discuss his friends sex life at all.

Image

Danny couldn't help but smile as he heard Jack shout out a response, "I'm just saying you gotta step you're game up! And I wouldn't even bother pulling you into a girl contest if I'd know you'd lose, that's just unsportsmanlike!" he joked, yelling right back to Jack from his room as he pulled a shirt on. He acknowledged his friends had a different life style than he did, the main difference being that they weren't scared to be in a relationship and weren't paranoid about every little thing. Danny walked to Jack's room, barging in without knocking, "But seriously, man up. I've seen you all goo goo eyes over Keira, just go for it man, ask her out, or what ever you do." He said, trying to offer up some advice. "Hell if you were a real man you'd go up to her apartment right now and ask her out." Danny was mainly joking but there was a hint of a challenge in his voice as he spoke.

"Well first of all do you have any idea how stupid..." Even though Walt stopped talking there, Luz could hear the rest of the speech in her head. She'd given it to herself a million times in the past week. Did she have any idea how stupid it was of her to fall into bed with a guy like Danny? To expect that she was special enough that he would treat her any differently than any of the other girls he had passing through that apartment. Why would she even think--

She'd been so busy berating herself that Luz hadn't noticed when Walt paused and ran his hands through his hair. She was just on the verge of fighting off tears when he sighed and put a hand on both of his shoulders. "Okay, scratch that, I think that, those girls should know that I honestly don't think any less of them, and that... the past is the past." Luz couldn't really justify the relief that washed through her at his words, but she quickly decided it was just because she cared about his opinion of her. She returned his hug tightly, pressing her face into his chest. "You didn't want to... talk about it did you?" he asked when he pulled away and Luz laughed a little. She turned away to put more water in her already-full glass, hoping that he wouldn't notice her wiping her eyes.

"No, querido, it's fine. It was just a... a mistake," she said. "Don't get me wrong, it's not like Danny tricked me or anything... but I think tequila and I are officially done." She gave him a weak smile, hoping he would believe the act. Truthfully, she was still pretty upset... but she was used to dealing with these kinds of things on her own. Her pride wasn't going to let her off easy on this one.

Jack bit back a swear as Danny barged into his room without knocking. Trying to be subtle, he slid a blank sheet of paper over his notes and set it aside on the bed. "First of all, as the Manly Man King of Apartment 2A, I'm going to have to deny having goo-goo eyes over anyone," he said, balling up another blank piece of paper and throwing it at his friend's head. "And secondly, Keira and I are just friends. Come on, man, what would a girl like her do with a dumb kid like me? Stick me in her class?" He was mostly joking, but a part of him was serious. Keira was a teacher. She had a degree and responsibilities and... Jack was just some spoiled rich kid who hadn't even finished school, even if no one knew that. The only thing that would happen if he asked her out was that he would embarrass himself.

Walter fought a frown as he notice her filling her already full glass of water, most likely so he wouldn't be able to see her face. With a small smirk, Walt pulled out another glass placing it on the counter, "In case you wanted to turn away again." He said simply, smiling to her. He was good at reading people, he had to be if he wanted to be a great lawyer. He chuckled slightly, "Well I'm glad, no one really has a good relationship with tequila." it was odd but the first thing to pop into his head was how easily tequila could be replaced with Danny in that sentence. Walt could sense something was still wrong with his friend, "Really? You're fine, moving on? I'm not sure about you but if it were me, I'd be head over heels for the girl." He shook his head, laughing a little, looking back over to Luz, "But I guess that just goes to show how much better you are than me. I'm glad you moved on Luz." He said smiling, patting her shoulder again, mentioning how he thought others were better than he was an often occurrence, he never really meant it sarcastically. He took the glass of water she had filled, taking a large gulp. "And if it helps at all, you're way too good for Danny, he's just a chicken who doesn't want a strong girl." He smiled, taking another gulp of water.

Danny scoffed at his roommate's little list, "First of all, you're not gonna be the Manly Man King of apartment 2A until I move out." He said, throwing the balled up paper right back at him, "Second of all stop making excuses and grow some balls dude!" He said shaking his head slightly, "You seriously are such a freaking chicken.... Wait, hold on a second." Danny wandered closer to Jack as he spoke, rubbing his chin, "You think she's too good for you, you practically always talk about her when your drunk, and you're too scared to ask her out..." He was at his desk now, squatting down beside his chair, "Do you love her?" He pulled his desk lamp up, so the light shined in his face, "Well do you?" He questioned, cocking an eyebrow as he looked to him suspiciously.

Luz actually did laugh as Walt set a second glass down next to her. "Jerk," she said and pretended to aim a kick at him. She smiled though, a little easier than she had before. She shrugged when he asked about her moving on. "Getting over someone is like going to rehab or something. The first step is to admit you have a problem." She took the empty glass and filled it up in the sink, giving him a wink over her shoulder. "In my case, the problem is that he's not interested and it's no use trying to make him interested. My mama used to tell me all the time, 'Luzelena, whatever you do with a man is your business, but never chase.'" She took a drink from her own glass. "I'll... I'll be honest," she said, tucking her hair behind her ear. Her face felt hot again, but Walt had never judged her before. She shouldn't be afraid to let him be there for her. "I might not be completely over it, but I will be. What doesn't kill you and all of that sentimental garbage, right?"

That said, Luz felt like she'd reached her quota for the week for heartfelt moments and emotional vulnerability. "Enough talk about me and my illicit activities. I am going to Cajun's party tonight. And you are going with me. There's no way I'm letting you stay here and study or whatever. I, Luzelena Machín-Suarez, officially command you to go forth and have fun tonight."

Jack listened to Danny's fake interrogation with a grin and barely managed to avoid rolling his eyes. He did fidget just a little, making sure his notes were covered as Danny came closer. "Jesus, the L-word?" he said, squinting with the lamp pointing into his face. He snatched the light away and pointed it back at Danny. "How do you expect to be the Man King with that kind of vocabulary? I should throw you in the dungeons just for thinking it, but since we don't have any dungeons, you'll just have to sit in time out or something." He raked a hand through his hair and gave Danny a mock glare. "And I'm not scared to ask her out. I just have better things to waste my time on."

Walt couldn't help but raise an eyebrow when Luz compared getting over someone to rehab, but smiled as she confessed to not being totally over Danny. "Well I'm glad to be the person you came to confess too, would the next step be something along the lines of finding someone else?" He asked, smirking slightly, though he had to admit, he was a little bothered at the thought of Luz dating someone else, but quickly just shook it off as being too protective. "As long as it's not another guy like Danny, I'd be fine with it." But for some reason his voice seemed a little bitter. "But you know I'll be here for you in your 'healing process'." He smiled, making little quotations in the air at healing process.

Now it was Walt's turn to be nervous, he scratched the back of his head, laughing slightly, "Well I was thinking about going for an hour, maybe. Then heading back to... well study." he wasn't sure about telling Luz how he often wanted to spend all his free time just perfecting himself, seeing as most people though he was weird for doing so. "And I'm not even sure if it would be that fun for me, I'm still not at legal drinking age." he laughed nervously, it was really only at the times were it was brought up that Walter remembered that Luz was indeed older than him, even if he did see her as his equal rather than his superior.

Danny's suspicious glare turned into a fit of laughter, smiling as he patted Jack's back, "That's the spirit! Who need's that pesky L-word, women are just manipulative, only want us for our money, right Jack?" He smiled, if only to hide his true feeling about love, he wanted it, but was really far too paranoid about girls just wanting his money. "And you're totally chicken." he said, grinning, really just pushing buttons at this point. "But don't worry about it, you can tell all the girl's you want about how you're the Manly Man King, as long as you get results." he said, smirking, "And you know, if you're not going to go after Kiera I might as well give it a shot right?" He said, pulling his phone out, "I mean, someone might as well go for it." He said, of course bluffing but then again Danny had a great poker face.

"Well I'm glad to be the person you came to confess too, would the next step be something along the lines of finding someone else?"

Luz snorted and hopped up so that she could sit on the edge of the counter. She considered his words, swinging her legs idly. "What's the point in looking?" she sighed. "I wish this better guy would just come find me. I'm tired of doing all of the work."

He smiled at her. "But you know I'll be here for you in your 'healing process'," he said, making air quotes. Luz rolled her eyes.

"You make it sound like I have cancer," she answered. "I had a bad one night stand. It'll work itself out," she said. She hesitated a moment and mumbled, "But thank you."

She grinned while he tried and worm his way out of the party. How had she known he would need encouragement? She reached over to ruffle his hair just as he had smoothed it down. "You've got to live while you're young, querido. Study tomorrow!" She tapped her lips thoughtfully. "I always forget how young you are, though," she murmured, pinching his cheek gently and laughing. "Don't worry about it. I was planning to stay sober tonight anyway so that I can tell Eva each and everything she does while she's drunk. You and I can drunk-people-watch. It is an American past-time."

She hopped down off of the counter and threw her arms around his shoulders bouncing on the balls of her feet. "Please, Walt? Please, please? The pretty please with honey on top?" She stopped again, her brow scrunching. "Wait, that's not how you say it..."

"That's the spirit!" Danny boomed with a laugh. "Who need's that pesky L-word, women are just manipulative, only want us for our money, right Jack?" Jack just shook his head. For someone with so much of it, Danny was always worried people were trying to get his money from him. It worried Jack a bit, but as someone with a few secrets of his own, he was more willing to wait for Danny to bring it up in his own time.

"Maybe they want you for your money," Jack answered, stretching languidly. "They only want me for my body."

He zoned out a bit as Danny continued taunting him, wondering how he could get him out of his room so he could study in secret, but he snapped out of it when he heard Keira's name.

"--if you're not going to go after Kiera I might as well give it a shot right?" He said, pulling his phone out, "I mean, someone might as well go for it." Jack saw red. His hand shot out to catch Danny by the wrist. His phone clattered to the ground.

"Don't," he said darkly. "That's not funny." There was an awkward pause and Jack let go of Danny's hand, bending over to grab his phone for him. "Sorry," he said tersely, "but... just don't, okay? It's bad enough that you screwed around with Luz..."

Walter smiled a little as Luz explained that the situation would work itself out, and he could have sworn that he heard her say thank you. "Well it's not a problem at all."

He smoothed his hair back down again as Luz messed it up, for some reason a light blush crossing his face. "Yeah, yeah, all that stuff about living while you got the chance to or whatever, if I've heard it once I've heard it a thousand times before." Walt shook his head, smiling slightly. "But you know drunk-people-watching seems like a hell of a lot of fun." he muttered, looking to Luz sitting at the counter, "I'm just not quite sure..." He mumbled, looking to Luz sitting on the counter until she hopped off, throwing her arms around him, practically begging him to go to the party, Walt chuckled, an amused grin playing on his lips, "Alright, alright! I'll go, if only so I can 'live', as you so put it." He shook his head, laughing a little, "And it's a cherry on top. Like 'Pretty please with a cherry on top', you know?" He smiled down to Luz, both hands instinctively resting on her waist, "But I guess honey could work too."

Danny looked a little surprised as he looked from the arm that Jack was grabbing to the phone on the ground, back up to Jack, raising an eyebrow. He rubbed his wrists slightly as they were let go, still a little shocked that his friend responded in such a way. "You know, for someone who claims asking her out would be a waste of your time, you sure are pretty damned protective." He said, taking his phone from his friend and shoving it back into his pocket. Danny punched Jack in the shoulder as he brought up Luz, "New rule, no dropping names of the girls I've slept with. Luz is just a friend, she knows that we're friends. Nothing's changed." He said, trying to convince himself more than he was trying to convince Jack. Danny sighed, "Okay so we both got shit to deal with. But you know I was kidding right? I would never do that to you dude. Bro Code and all." he said sincerely, patting Jack's back. "But really, I don't see why you don't just go for it, you know what I mean? I mean, what do you have to lose right?" He questioned, genuinely curious.
