It’s late June as Alyssa opens her eyes to see the love of her life, Jax, still sleeping beside her. She gently smiles and kisses his cheek before plucking herself upwards into a sitting position to stretch and wake herself up the rest of the way. I’m living in a fairytale… love of my life beside me, ranch starting up on a crisp, summer morning, and his adorable toddler twins cooing in their nursery in our grand home, but something doesn’t feel right. She thinks to herself as she slips away from the bed and over to the balcony which looks out to their barn, and fields where the horses will be put out shortly. For a moment she simply stands there still with her hands lying gently on the rail as she watches the sun rise, but soon finds herself stirring to do something different and exciting. She glances over her shoulder, as she turns to face their bedroom, to look back at her fiancé lovingly before tiptoeing through the room, making sure to grab her cell on the way, and down the stairs and through the house to travel down to her largest barn.

“Look at them all.” She whispers to herself as she opens the door and breathes in the smell of equine and the fresh bedding placed down the night before for them. “I love them all.” She mentions with a gentle nod as she wraps her arms around herself. It is a slightly chilly morning, one that certainly is perfect for riding, but a little colder than wanted for someone wearing only a short nightgown. She smiled softly as one of the horses neighed at her and another, nearer one, nickered. Walking over to the little mare which had just nickered, a smile broadens over her face. “You wanna go riding, don’t you?” She giggles before pausing slightly and tilting her head at the mare through the bars, “I do too.” She sighs and begins walking away from the mare, but the mare nickers again and Lyss can hear her pawing at the ground. The smile creeps up on her face again as she turns back around, suddenly grinning as a glint of happiness flickers in her eyes like fire, “Well, maybe a short run won’t do any harm…” Grabbing up the halter and lead on the mare’s door, she slid her finger across the name, Arienelle, before entering the stall and haltering the little mare and jumping up on her and lightly kicking her to make her trot out of the stall and out to just… run…

“Melody, c’mon! We need to go pick up Aunt Amber from the airport.” Will calls from the door of their apartment. It’s nothing special; one bedroom, one bathroom, one master suite, kitchen and dining area, and a sitting area with a small television. They had to get a second bed for Amber to sleep on while she’s staying with them for at least this year. Their parents are hoping the new set up with him and his family will provide her with the same stability, a little less sisterly drama, and maybe also a few more friends. Will hasn’t heard much about his littlest sister’s situation, but he does know it’s been rough on her.

“Coming Daddy!” Melody calls back as she runs out in a cute little outfit, perfect for meeting her aunt in. She reaches up to her father wanting to be picked up. With a light chuckle, Will scoops her up in his arms and plants a kiss on her shoulder. “We’ll be back with Amber soon.” He mentions as he gives Chelsea a quick kiss and heads out with his daughter.

Only an hour later, they arrive at the airport and find Amber, with her long, chocolate-colored hair and bright blue eyes, standing very lady-like on her own in a corner of the waiting room. Will immediately crinkles his nose at her attire. No wonder she doesn’t have any friends… Has she not compared her clothes to everyone else’s recently? He wonders to himself as he watches Melody run over and give her a big hug, unable to note his dear sister’s evident shock at being grabbed by the child in such a hug. “My dear brother,” She smiles as she gingerly picks up her niece and holds her against her hip, “how may you be on this lovely day? Your daughter seems to be a rather joyous type. I think you have raised her decently well. How is your fiancée, Chelsea? Is she well? I have unfortunately not seen her since I was very young.” Amber reminisces and questions as Will forces himself to walk over to his sister, still wondering how she could possibly even be allowed to wear a dress of such odd nature. Shouldn’t a girl her age be wearing skinny jeans and a t-shirt? No wonder their parents sent her to him.

“I’m doing pretty well, Amber, and thank you. I think Melody is normally a happy girl, but there are times when she begs to differ.” He smirks gently over at Mellie as Amber sets her back down on the ground, as lady-like as she had picked her up. Trying to push his thoughts of her odd behavior away, he continues, “Chels is great! She’s excited to see you, and I think she’d be happy to take you shopping sometime. She loves shopping and getting nice stuff.”

Amber’s eyes darken ever so slightly as she metaphorically crawls a little deeper into her shell. I like what I wear, though… She inwardly reminds herself, knowing how impolite it would be to show that she had caught his rude comment. I like who I am… Has my brother changed so much as to no longer accept me for who and what I am? I do not think I can believe what I am hearing right now. When Amber had told her parents about Lolita dresses and wanting to hold more elegance than people today do, they had been proud of her and willing to help her and support her. However, that love and support seems to have stayed in Florida when she decided to fly here. Ever so slightly, she shifts on her feet and drops her eyes down to the ground before gently curtsying. “Well, brother, I believe that dear Chelsea may be missing us by now, may we be off to see her?” She asks him curiously as she raises herself back up, pulling on a pair of small, white gloves which match the frills on her light blue dress.

“Yupp…” He picks his daughter up and starts out of the airport, hearing his sister’s light footsteps behind him, he decides to not help her with her carry on. “They told me they’d put your bags in my car. So, we should be good.” He mentions as they get to the car where, sure enough, her bags lay in the trunk, waiting to move into a new hanging closet. After settling themselves in the car, they head back to their home to once again see Chelsea.

~~~
Crisella drags her feet as she gets out of bed to hear her little, two-year-old son bawling his eyes out in the other room. “Ugh! I don’t wanna deal with this. It’s too early.” She complains to herself as she wanders in and picks him up out of his crib. He coos at her for a short moment before starting to cry again. Dragging him into the kitchen, she pulls out some leftover pizza and reheats it in the microwave and pours out some cheerios cereal, with the milk too, for Ardonel. “Bubby, you can’t keep crying so early in the morning.” She sighs as she sits down with him on her lap at the kitchen island.
“Bu’ Mommy! I hungwy.” Ardonel whines as he picks up the spoon and messily eats his cereal. Unable to hold her frown, Crisella giggles and smiles at him, pulling him off her lap to place him in his high chair with his cereal before getting her nuked pizza.
“You just couldn’t sleep another hour, could you?” She asks him with a slight smirk as she takes a bite and grabs him several napkins. She couldn’t love her son more, but she still wishes that his father was Christopher and not that jock from school. Cooing a little, her son continues spooning the yummy, honeyed cereal into his mouth, making Crisella smile a little more.
Pain. It was this pain that brought Carth out of his deep slumber as the alarm went off in his small bedroom, the constant beeping tore at the hung-over man as if someone had planted a crowbar into his forehead and was now trying to pry his cranium open. Before he had time to fully awake, the hand closest to the hated machine, groped along the side table till it found it's prey and then without much thought slammed it down on the reset button. Damn alarm, I'll end up tossing the bloody thing one day. He thought with some viciousness as he got up from his bed, still dressed in the clothes from the previous night, he soon fixed this problem as he stripped to the nude as he made his way out of his room and across the hall to the shower. Once in, his hangover began to die down as the cold water began to drench his body creating little goose-bumps, he always had his showers cold in the morning hangover or no hangover, to him it was a great way to start the day, he finished washing himself quickly and got out of the shower cubicle and dried himself off.
After he was done in the bathroom, he returned to his place of rest and looked at the silent alarm clock. "Oh shit!" He cursed aloud, he was late for work at Alyssa's ranch something that he prided himself for never being. He rushed to his wardrobe and grabbed the first outfit he could see, throwing the clothes on as he rushed to the front door, he was out and beginning to cross the road to get to the car park when he realised in his rush he had forgotten to put on shoes and was now walking down the street barefooted. He turned back round, annoyance and embarrassment crept in as he walked through the front door again, he had even forgotten to lock the front door. He found some clean socks in a wash basket and grabbed his work boots and returned on his rushed journey, almost forgetting to pick up his wallet the second time he went through the door. He got to the car park in no time at all but to his dismay the old pickup truck he and his brother shared was gone. "God dammit!" He had been awake for only an hour yet the day was already turning out for the worst for him, he had hoped it would not come to this but it looked like the inevitable, he would have to run.
After ten minutes of sprinting through Appaloosa the ranch was finally in his sight, this was good news for Carth, he stopped running immediately and bent over as he gasped for breath, wiping the sweat that had formed on his brow with the back of his hand. When he had sucked enough oxygen into his lungs, he stood up straight and began to walk again, he had seventeen minutes exactly, to spare so he was going to take his time walking to cool off but despite the slight chill in the air it didn't come easy to him. He was even closer to reaching his destination when he pass by someone else; he glanced at the stranger and saw that it was a girl about two heads shorter than him with black hair; he carried on and walked past he offering her a smile as he did so. When he finally reached the ranch, the girl was still in his mind, he had a vague idea that he had seen her before but he could not recall where from, he decided to push the thought on hold as he made his way to the barn, from where he was he could see that it had been opened already. "It's probably Alyssa or maybe her sweet heart." He entered the barn and saw Alyssa on one of the little mares, obviously she was planning on riding the beast but Carth spoke up none the less. "Hey Alyssa, you planning on going for a ride this morning?"
Mei walked along the street, smiling softly to herself as she hummed a soft tune and hugged herself. She would soon get to see Carth again; and even if he didn't get to see her, it still made her happy. She paused and froze as he suddenly passed her. Stopping in her tracks, she smiled weakly and waved at him a little, a bright blush present on her cheeks as she watched him shyly; her heart fluttering like a trapped bird in her chest. He is so beautiful; so perfect. A person like me shouldn't even be allowed to go near him; a person without a hope and without a future... b-but... I-I just love him so much, I love him so much it feels like my heart is going to burst.. no one else will ever love him as much as I do; he shouldn't ever love another person than me either!
Once she was sure he was far enough gone, she started walking again, a slight breeze sweeping through her black hair. The blush was still present on her cheeks as she started following his trail, walking slowly as not to bump into him again. It would not do if he realized she was following him around, obviously. At least not yet. Sighing happily, she glanced around once she'd entered the ranch, hesitating before making her way towards the barn, making sure to keep herself hidden my trees and buildings surrounding her. "Car-thy..." she said very quietly, her voice small and high pitched; resembling a childes as she found a good hiding spot where she could watch him without being noticed. She sat down be in between the barrels, her petite body just managing it as he watched her speak to the owner of the ranch. She was pretty; too pretty, Mei decided, a sad look crossing her face.
Why was her Carthy speaking to the girl? Even if he was her boss, why would he talk to her and smiled at her like that? That perfect smile, which causes Mei to melt every time she sees it. Her hand automatically flew to the knife she kept hidden and always with her, a strange look entering her eyes. Dead, if they were all just dead the only one Carthy could befriend or love would be me. Why can't they all just die? Die...die...die...die...die! Carthy belongs to be! Mei thought feebly as she stared at Alyssa in blind rage. Moments later, however, she came back to her senses. No, she couldn't kill Alyssa. Not yet. It would make Carthy sad; she knew, and chances that she actually loved him was so small. She had her own love, after all. Of course Mei knew this much about Alyssa. Not because she was famous and stuff, but she looked up all the information she could find about people he negotiated with regularity all the time. That way she could start making up plans about eliminating threats; unless I went into a rage attack and simply killed them. That was a lot faster... but not very safe. And, as far as Mei knew, Carthy didn't love her either. It calmed her slightly and Mei forced herself to relax. She would not kill her. No, not at all if she didn't had to... killing was bad, right? Mei smiled manically at the thought, though only moments later her smile turned sweet again and the blush flashed across her cheeks once more. He's so perfect...
Alyssa had only being trotting Arienelle up and down the aisle way, unsure of whether she should take her back outside, like she'd done for the briefest of moments before worrying, out to the pasture, or back in her stall. However, her worries of where to put the mare were cut short as she heard a voice behind her and jumped slightly, turning her head to see her highest stable hand. "Oh, Carth, it's just you." She whispered gently, calming her nerves before answering his simple question and pulling Arienelle up next to him, "Well, I don't know... Jax will probably want me to help with the twins, but this mare has some really amazing potenti...al..." Stuttering as she trailed off, she realized this mare's qualities were much like her gelding, Dexter, that'd she'd grown up on. All I want is to ride. I want to play again... No, I can't. I have other things now. I don't have the time. She sighed, after a short pause, before jumping down off the polo pony. "I'll just put her on the list and have the trainer work with her, right?" She asked him with a pained smile. She would have hidden it, but she didn't care enough to even try to.
Chelsea's face lights up when Amber mentions shopping. That's good! Maybe she'll want to uh blend in with the other kids . She seems oddly mature for her age. "yeah Mellie do you want to come shopping with us or do you want to stay here?" She asks as she grabs her bag and her keys "bye Will see you later" she walks over and kisses him "is there anything you need?"
***********
Jax wakes up and finds the other half of the bed empty.I Guess Alyssa is awake already? . He gets up not bothering to put on a shirt or pants over his boxers as he walks into the twins' room and finding them still sleeping. Cel was going to have them for the next week and then Jax was planning to hire a nanny. He walked around looking for Alyssa and then headed out to the barn where he found her. Oh.. With the other guy. Ihe still didn't know if he trusted Carth. There's just something about him. He grabbed a pair of jeans that He kept in the barn and put them on but didn't bother with a shirt before walking over to Alyssa.
Crisella was shocked by his response and weakness to being hit and, no matter what he thought, he had deserved it. She knew that he wouldn't have listened to her words, simply thrown them away and ignored them. At least her hitting him would make him realize that she didn't appreciate him or his words in /her/ home. Well, it wasn't really hers, but she still considered it so. "Listen, Marcel, you can act that you're the poor little child who has been shipped off to his uncle's against his will, but my words weren't about to get your attention because you disappreciate me. However, I don't appreciate you calling me rude names..." She trailed off and glared at him for a moment before picking up the chocolates which he had dropped and shoving them back into his hands. "Hitting you was my way of saying 'stop playing games with me.'" She growled at him, able to see the sadness in his eyes. In all honesty, she did feel fairly awful for hitting him, but there was no way in hell she was about to show him her sympathy in the moment.
Marcel's question shocked her even further as he asked to be excused, and she didn't even respond to it; but, simply turned away and left to continue on to the kitchen. As much as she hated the child, she also knew his pain in being left at someone else's home with whom they were not even close to. Hadn't she had that happen when she was a baby? What about being kicked out of his home? That counts too. Whether he would believe it or not, this little encounter earned him an ally in the sometimes vicious world of Appaloosa Plains.
~~~

Melody shook her head at Chelsea's offer. "Daddy is taking me to see my horsey and then we're going to take him over to Alyssa's for something. I guess she bought him..." She trailed off at the mention of Alyssa buying him off the current owner because she loved Alyssa, but that would mean Darrin would become one of the practice horses for kids who wanted to learn English riding and she didn't really like that idea. It simply was not okay with her to lose Darrin as /her/ horse. "Have fun, though!" She giggled as she began walking back to her room yet again.

"Well, I don't think I do. Have fun with Amber." Will grins as he kisses her back and watches Amber follow her out, shaking his head. He closes the door behind himself before walking into the kitchen and grabbing some leftovers.

Amber obediently followed Chelsea out to the car without making a comment. She could already tell that this shopping trip would be miserable and nothing like those which her mom and her had had. Those had surprisingly been fun because her mom would help her pick out the most darling accessories and shoes to match with the dresses they had bought online together.

Cel awoke to sunlight streaming through the cream curtains at her window. She must have slept in again, much to her annoyance. She had things to do, people to feed! Her stomach growled, reminding herself that one of the people she had to feed. From the covers of the bed, Cel could hear the slight rufflings of her 8 year old daughter Kaylie playing in the room next door. She pulled the covers about herself and sat up, and decided she needed a shower. Rubbing her bleary eyes, Cel slipped on her slippers and made her way slowly to the bathroom. The water was cold, and woke her up as she showered, and the relaxing feel of the shampoo massaging into her scalp soothed her mind until she was ready for a new day. Today Cel was to finally get what Kaylie had wanted for a good long while. A riding lesson and to see her friend Melody. Cel had mentally prepared herself for today, and she was ready. She stepped out of the shower and dried herself off, and got changed into a pair of white skinny jeans and a pretty floral top. She towel dried her hair and brushed it out so it didn't look so tangled. Once changed, she pulled on her slippers once again and crept back to her room to make her bed. Cel liked being neat, it made a change to what she was living in two years ago, in the ruined apartment. She opened the curtains and made her way over to her daughter Kaylie's room.
"Morning, beautiful!" Cel looks around the door and into Kaylie's room. She was playing with her dolls house, complete with plastic horses that Kaylie had begun to collect. She recalled that her favourite was the bay pony. "You know what's happening today?!" Cel asked Kaylie, excited for her daughter. "Riding!" Kaylie squealed as her mother tickled her, before carrying her daughter to the table. "What's for breakfast?" Cel asked. The answer was pancakes, and Cel made a small batch, complete with her favourite topping, sugar and lemon. Kaylie was still eating when Cel had finished, so she got up and dialled Alyssa's number. "Eat up, and I'll do the hard work." Cel winked at her daughter, sending her off in a fit of giggles. She smiled and waited for who she hoped would be a friend to pick up.
