Abia has a light complexion and brown, shoulder length hair which frames her face. This is helped by her bangs, which go to her eyebrows. Her hair is naturally wavy. She normally puts her hair up when going about her day, but will let it down once the day comes to a close. She has brown eyes, the same as her father. On her lower back is a birth mark of indeterminate shape.
Abia is missing her 4th and 5th toe on her right foot following an accident that happened several years ago. She is able to walk just fine, but she becomes uncomfortable when wearing high heels. She can wear them for an hour or so before she begins to feel discomfort. Instead of having false toes made for her, she uses a small cushion in her shoe to fill it. She knows very few people will see her feet, which is the reason she declined to have false toes made, but the idea of someone seeing her foot still causes her anxiety. She is anxious about how someone may react to her only having three toes. Abia is also anxious when she has to wear high heels, as she would much rather not be uncomfortable when trying to go about her day.
In terms of attire, she has quite a few dresses which range from everyday wear to evening dresses. She prefers to look elegant, modest, and ladylike. Additionally, she has a hat and a hand bag.
Abia wears a gold ring on the ring finger of her right hand. She also wears a locket which was her mother's. Inside is a picture of her father from when he first gave the locket to his now estranged wife. She has a pearl necklace for formal occasions. Additionally, she has two pairs of earrings-- one for every day wear and one for formal occasions.

QUIRKS
- When anxious Abia will put her hair behind her ear or gently twirl it close to her body. Alternatively, she will play with her mother's locket or her ring.
She normally avoids talking about William or her mother.
Abia has a habit of asking if she really must wear heels to an event when told she has to. She dislikes wearing them due to the discomfort it causes her right foot and thus will try to get out of having to wear them for an extended period of time.
A lover of natural phenomenon, Abia has no qualms about being out in the rain (even when it's storming) or the snow. She doesn't mind being out at night (given that she's somewhere where she feels no one will try to harm her) and she is fine with leaning over railings.
She isn't easily cold.

Abia is a meek young woman. She isn't one to go about breaking rules or swearing loudly. That'd be unladylike. She is unassuming and reserved, preferring to observe others instead of interact with them. This partially stems from her time as a governess, where she simply watched others because she wasn't a member of the family but also not a servant. She finds that by watching and listening you can learn a lot about someone. Expectantly, she is very observant. Though she's more comfortable on the sidelines, she's happy to talk to one or two people at a time as she prefers small groups of people to larger groups. She's quite comfortable talking to and entertaining children, having a penchant for interacting them.
She is someone who is always looking to learn and loves to read. Abia believes you should never stop learning as the amount of knowledge in the world is infinite. She's a certainly a hopeless romantic. She believes that true love is out there despite having rarely seen it within her own life. Perhaps it's the romance novels she reads, but she dreams of finding her true love one day and spending her life happily ever after. Or at least as happy as it can be. Despite her romantic notions about life and belief in following one's dreams, Abia knows she has to be realistic.
Abia has a heart of gold. She is kind to everyone she talks to and will treat them with respect. She will only treat someone with malice when given good reason. When angry with someone she will not confront them, instead she will avoid them. When sad she will opt to retreat to her room or another quiet place so she can read a book to calm herself down. She is rarely one to display strong emotions in public, as she thinks she will be seen as weak by others.
She is somewhat self-conscious, which partially attributes to her preference to be an observer rather than a participant. She has a fear of not being good enough for others, likely due to her mother's departure at an early age. Abia is also self conscious because she is used to being around those who are of a higher class than her. She does not wish to embarrass herself in front of those older than her or wealthier than her, as she does not wish to ridiculed. She is self conscious around men for obvious reasons.

Abia Roselyn Crane was born to Robert and Caroline Crane just eight minutes after her brother William. It would seem that this was the start of a happy life together as a family, but Caroline had a different idea in mind. Shortly before the twins turned two, she left without a word. It was believed that she had travelled to America. The news of Caroline's departure sparked numerous rumours-- that she'd left because Robert was abusive, that they'd secretly gotten a divorce, that she didn't want to raise her kids, and that she'd had a lover waiting for her in America. Whatever the reason was, the twins were left without a mother.
To this day Abia is unsure why her mother left her family behind. She believes her father knows the true reason but he's never told her. As such, she's grown up wondering where her mother was and why she'd left. Despite not having any memories of Caroline, Abia always missed her. She's longed for her mother throughout her life and has held onto the hope that they will meet again. Abia has also formed a rather romantic notion of who her mother is in her head, imagining her as a respectable lady making her way in the world. This dream is partially due to what little bits of information Robert has told her about Caroline. She wears a locket that her father gave her mother as a reminder of the past when they all lived as a family. The locket means a lot to her and she only takes it off to sleep, bathe, or when a more formal necklace is required.
The family moved to a larger town to be closer to family. Here, the twins grew up in the care of older family members by day and their father by night. Robert continued to work so as to be able to provide for his children. While they were children, Abia and William were very close. They relied on each other for entertainment. They played together when another family member couldn't, using their imaginations to create fantastic adventures. It was a happy time and Abia looks at her childhood years fondly.
Both twins were educated once they were old enough to attend school. The two attended different schools due to their genders. When they came home they would spend time together before eating supper and going to be. And so this cycle continued until their compulsory education had ended. By now the two had developed dissimilar personalities-- Abia was a very reserved bookworm whereas William was an energetic talker. Despite this the two were still close. They continued to play together and enjoyed their time with their father.
After her needed education came to a close, Abia was asked to stay at her school due to her high marks in her classes. She accepted the offer to assist the teachers at the school in exchange for furthering her education. With her life revolving around both learning and teaching others, she saw less and less of her family. She would always make time to talk with her father but she didn't see or talk to Will as much as she used to. It bothered her, but there wasn't much she could do about it. Once finished with her time at the school, Abia decided to become a governess. Having a good amount of education and having taught other girls for the past three years, she felt that she was capable of this occupation.
Knowing that she had not learned everything, Robert provided her with books, journals, and magazines from the university he worked at so that she could continue to learn in addition to her education on how to be a governess. Once she was finished with her governess education, she was ready to go out into the world and start to earn money. She knew that it was unladylike to working, but there were certainly worse jobs than being a governess. Abia was well aware of the class system and how those in the first class may see her as just a middle class girl, but she didn't mind. The idea of being able to earn her own money for doing something she enjoyed was too tempting. She also wished to give some of what she earned to her father as a thanks to all the years he worked so that the family could live comfortably.
While still looking for a home in need of a governess, Abia lived at home with her father and brother. Though her father was still the same kind, loving man, something had changed in her brother. He was still talkative and high energy, but there was something different about him. He wasn't the playful boy she'd known before. No, now he was a young man who lusted for all that life would could give him. She was shocked to walk into his room one day, where she found him drinking and admiring a watch he'd stolen. Perhaps he was just careless or perhaps he wanted to be caught considering it was the middle of the day. Whatever the case, Abia was disgusted with Will's behaviour to which he merely shrugged. At first she would attempt to chastise him for his actions. Then she would plead with him to consider what he was doing, to consider his future and how his actions would prohibit him from ever becoming a true gentleman. Again, he disregarded what she said until she just gave up entirely. She accepted the fact that her brother had changed for the worse and it saddened her. However, the sadness changed to anger and soon she found herself ignoring him when she could. Abia believed that their father would find out in time that Will was a dishonest thief, but he never did.
Once she found her first governess position, she was elated. She lived with that family for half a year as a replacement for the former governess. The children were nearly ready for boarding school at that point, thus the short time she was with them. Following this, she quickly found another family in need of her services. She stayed with them for a year and a half until the children went to boarding school.
Abia returned home briefly where she was met with love from her father and dismay from her brother. He hadn't changed his ways in the two years she'd been gone. Abia avoided him as much as she could while staying at home, preferring to stay in her room and read or play her violin. William couldn't get her to talk to him no matter how hard he tried. Before she departed, Robert gave her a good sum of money he'd been saving for her. It was to help cover the expense of buying dresses suitable for working in a wealthy household, as she currently did not own many clothes. He also gave her a letter that had come from Caroline in the recent months. It was addressed to Robert with no mention of Abia or William, lacked details, and was rather short, but her missing mother did mention that she was currently living in New York.
With the possibility of seeing her mother in her mind, Abia put her all into her work. She was a governess with the wealthy and generous Westfield family. The family treated her kindly and gave her a fair salary for the time she spent educating and caring for their son and daughter. Abia was always thankful for their generosity. Between her salary and the money her father had given her she was able to buy an additional afternoon and evening dress. She was quite happy being with the family and loved their children.
The dream of staying with the family for the next three years was dashed suddenly on a cool March night. Mrs. Westfield seemed to have developed ill feelings for the young governess. She saw Abia as a threat to her marriage-- despite the twenty-one year old having never been involved with or even remotely displayed romantic feelings for Mr. Westfield. Instead of simply dismissing her, Mrs. Westfield waited until the night of a dinner party to publicly humiliate the young woman. Abia was keeping the children entertained while the guests talked. Mrs. Westfield then announced that the governess had been attempting to seduce Mr. Westfield and ordered her to leave the house at once. Knowing the humility that would befall his wife should he detract her statement, Mr. Westfield remained silent and only offered Abia a look of apology. The young woman, having been humiliated left with her head down. She packed her things quickly, remaining in her room for the rest of the night before departing the next morning.
Feeling dejected, Abia stayed in the town near the family's home for a several days. As time passed, she noticed that some of the residents' attitudes towards her began to change. No doubt Mrs. Westfield had been spreading rumors about her through the town. Abia left soon after. While in the next town, she remembered her mother's letter. With the RMS Titanic set to sail to New York in less than a month, it was the perfect opportunity to go to America to find her mother. She bought a second class ticket and travelled to Southhampton.
In addition to finding her mother, she hopes to start anew after being humiliated and dismissed. She's hoping she can find employment in America or maybe even husband. She's always dreamt of finding true love. Maybe this will be her chance to find it. She hopes to find the perfect gentleman who can support her financially. Abia is content to find a man in the same class as her, but knows that finding a husband in the first class would mean good finances and security.
Originally she was going to inform her father of her trip to New York. However, she decided against it because she thought that he would try to stop her or even send William along to accompany her. Though she still loves her older brother-- he is family and was her best friend after all-- she's still displeased with how he handles himself and what he does. She felt it would be safer to travel alone than risk being with him if he decided to steal things from the first class. Abia plans to send her father a letter once she reaches America to let hi know she's safe.
