Age: 538 (Eldeen: is the same age)

Gender: Male (Eldeen: Male)

Species: Unicorn Keeper, a distant form of Fae, but more so a forest Nymph

Occupation: Prince of the Unicorn Keepers, Guradian of the Pale Crystal Wood of the Wylds, Keeper of Unicorns

Faction Affiliation: Generally none, however the Circle of Teeth has an understanding with the Unicorn Keepers. (That is: “Stay out of the Pale Crystal Wood or be cursed.”)

Description: Eldeen is a large, beautiful white unicorn with long fluffy hair covering his pearly white hoofs. He has a pearly white horn atop his head that has a drill like spiral. His eyes are a golden bronze color.

Faramire Elessar is an elegant and princely young man. He is of a pearly pale skin and thin body structure. His hair is short cropped and a sandy brown color. He wears a crown of gold with red rubies engrained in it. His clothing is very regal and gray in color. He has small pointy elvan ears. Faramire of of average height. Faramire looks to be in his early twenties but is indeed much older than he appears.

Personality

Personality: Both Faramire and Eldeen are of a calm demeanor. They are both slow to speak and to anger. Faramire and Eldeen are very wise and are most always of a similar mind. Faramire is very caution and quick to pick up on danger. He is always alert to his surroundings, for living in the Wylds has taught him to be that way as a guardian of the Pale Crystal Wood. He is friendly to those who are confirmed not to be a threat. He carries on the memories of the great moon that watches over the Pale Crystal Wood so sometimes he speaks of the forests’ memories as if talking about his own.

Eldeen is generally quieter and will speak only when necessary. He communicates in the heart of those he desires to speak to. He is of a relaxed nature as Faramire is his protector and far more vigilant.

Skills: The Unicorns are a special form of magical being. They are powerful and intelligent. They are very fast and their horns hold mysterious magical powers. Unicorns can wield light based magic and are keen healers and miracle granters. Unicorns draw their power from the moonlight. They can speak to the heart of others and this is how they communicate. This ability to tap into ones heart can also be used to control others, however unicorns are very ethical creatures and would only control a weaker mind if necessary for survival. When a Unicorn and it’s keeper combine their strength terribly strong spells can be accessed, like weather control or disaster invoking spells but some of the spells accessible are taboo to utilize.

The Unicorn Keepers wield more offensive magic than unicorns do. They also draw power from the moon. They can easily cast spells and curses of an abstract nature. The limitations on this ability are unknown. Unicorn Keepers are generally capable of basic elemental magic and have a high magic resistance. They are very vigilant and keen on their sense of sound. They are expert healers. They can also bestow magic to certain creatures, like humans, given the moon grants them the blessing.

Weaknesses: Unicorn’s are not very vigilant creatures and are easily ambushed if caught off guard. They carry a lofty nature because that are much used to have the protection of the unicorn keepers. They are physically not much stronger than the average horse, mostly faster.

Unicorn Keepers are mostly magically strong not physically. They are better off casting spells from a distance than getting into physical confrontations. They are not blessed with any particular physical prowess outside of being nimble and good at evasion. A unicorn keeper’s powers are much stronger at night or under the moon’s light than in the daytime. However They are still very powerful in the daytime nonetheless.

Equipment

Carries a magical staff with him that his can make appear at will.

History

Brief History: The Unicorns are a special form of magical being. They are powerful and intelligent. They dwell in the northern reaches of the Wylds called the Pale Crystal Wood. Pale Crystal Wood is almost always shrouded in moonlight. They are protected by a magical race of beings known only as Unicorn Keepers. They are inseparable from their Unicorns. The Keeper and Unicorn share a special magical bond that unlocks strong power. They are of the more sophisticated beings of the wylds and much of Arcadia has only heard not seen a Unicorn or it’s keeper with their own eyes. Unicorn Keepers have been known to place curses and cast spells on those who threaten the Unicorns and will fight to the death to defend them. Many of the wylds residents know not to trespass in the Pale Crystal Wood for fear of being eternally cursed by a Unicorn Keeper. The Unicorn Keepers themselves are a distant form of Fae, but more so a forest Nymph.

Faramire Elessar was born in the Pale Crystal Wood as it’s protector. He carries the memories of the forest and his ancestors. He has protected the wood quietly from the dangers of the Wylds for many years. It is a very rare occasion where he has left the Wood for any reason so much of Arcadia is foreign to him. However he is undaunted by this when he does venture out into the rest of Arcadia. He has in the past saved Humans who fled accidentally into the Pale Crystal Wood while being hunted down by the circle of teeth. They were initially thought of as a threat by Faramire until he read their hearts and could see that they were pure. He was able to grant them with the power of of the Unicorn Keepers and they slowly lost their humanity and became forest nymphs like the Unicorns Keepers. These human- turned Nymphs watched over the unicorns as keepers yet they are not as strong as natural born Unicorn keepers.

Other: Unicorns and their Keepers worship the Moon as their sovereign deity. This is where they draw their power. They can actually communicate with the moon and hear it’s voice.

"Thank you, councilman. And again, my apologies for my tardiness, some Skinner tried to mug us. I'm sorry, but I can't differentiate verbal directions very well since I'm since blind, though I usually navigate quite well." Ahnaliese replied to Councilman Cirdan.

He had proceeded to lead her not realizing that she was without sight. Once she made him aware, Cirdan felt bad that he had not realized and hurried off the way he did. “Oh, my apologies Countess! I should have attended to you better.” Cirdan began to physically guide the Countess by the hand to the Grand Hall.

"Actually skinning is what I came here about, apparently there have been many lower-class citizens of my land disappearing while the dragon skin and Roc bird trade has gone up." Ahnaliese began as the group entered the Grand Hall’s large double doors.

“Hmm
 Skinners
This is indeed a criminal group whose activities have not reached my or the council’s ears in quite some time. And to think the Countess encountered skinners in Anaon as well! I am most grateful that you are well! I apologize for our land’s dangers. I will personally fight to see that the Seelie council addresses this issue with the utmost urgency Countess. You indeed have my word.” Cirdan spoke in a tone of great concern.

They soon reached the three Mer Royals who were still being introduced to more nobles by Ingwe. They definitely stood out among the crowd as they were very tall and they floated slightly above the ground as they were positioned upright, their beautiful tails curled and flailing in the air making a slight noise of blown wind as their fins batted the air. Cirdan was able to gain the attention of Merilwen who tapped Aearion and Aranhil. “Excuse me your majesties, however I have a very distinguished guest to introduce to you and the council. The Dragon Countess of which I spoke of before has arrived.” Cirdan gently held Ahnaliese’s hand as he addressed the group.

"Hello your majesties, I am Countess Ahnaliese Catherine Nicolette of Deva" Ahnaliese addressed the group.

Aearion, Aranhil, and Merilwen turned toward the Countess and her companions. They could pick up on her special aura. It was different than the aura that one felt from an Elf, Magician, or Dryad. The aura of a Dragon was only slightly similar to a Merperson’s aura however they emanated more of a warmer aura than Merpeople did, you emanated a colder aura. Aearion was the first of the group to speak, being the Prince and highest in ranking among the three.

“Hello Countess Ahnaliese! I am Prince Aearion Turin, son of King Vehiron of the central Morenion Kingdom. It is a pleasure to meet you. I have very rarely had the opportunity to meet a Dragoness! This is indeed an occasion to remember.” Aearion was excited. He wanted to continue his people’s past of good relations with the Dragon race.

“Greetings Countess Ahnaliese and companions. I am Aranhil Rinion , Duke of Ilaria the Western Sea. I hope that we have good negotiations in tomorrow’s council meeting.” Aranhil spoke calmly. He had seen a few dragon people in his day. However, they do not often appear near the ocean shore.

“Salutations Countess Ahnaliese. I am Merilwen Vanamarilla, Pearl Princess of Airemana the Eastern Sea. I hope to learn more about the land from your perspective as a Dragoness. This is indeed a strange and wonderful place. I can only imagine what it’s like for a dragon.” Merilwen greeted the Countess with a great pleasant smile and a bow.The other council members gathered to greet the countess as well.

A few moments later, the doors to the grand hall opened and in walked a large, beautiful white unicorn accompanied by an elegant and princely young man. One of the servants announced the arrival of Faramire Elessar, Prince of the Unicorn Keepers. The Unicorn Keeper was of a refined nature and many of the Fae present were surprised to see the reclusive Prince of the Unicorn Keepers present at the Seelie ball.

The Unicorns are a special form of magical being.

Voices and whispers echoed throughout the Ballroom. “What’s a Unicorn doing in here?! It’s a creature of the Wylds
” one she-elf gasped. Another voice whispered, “First Merpeople, then Dragons, now Unicorns and their guardian nymphs. This is truly an eventful evening!”. “I see the Seelie are expanding their range of communications. This could bring good things.” Another nobleman spoke. The murmurs continued and the Unicorn Keeper walked forward paying the banter no mind, he was focused.

Being from the Wylds of Arcadia his customs were different and so was his manner of speech. His dialect was somewhat strange to the Arcadian ear yet completely understandable and regal. He bowed on one knee and so did the unicorn to the councilmen, the countess, and the Mer royals. He rose from his knee and spoke. “O blessed Moonlight, thank you for this occasion, under your grace, to meet with the voices of Arcadia.” Faramire spoke to the heavens before he addressed the group.
“Blessed eve, I am Prince Faramire Elessar of the Unicorn Keepers. It is indeed an honor and a Privilege to be present here tonight. I hope that Eldeen the Unicorn’s presence does not put you off. I am aware that it is uncommon for a being of a unicorn’s nature to be present in a Ballroom setting, however he is no mere creature of the Wylds. He is just as much a diplomat as I. So once again, I implore your understanding.” Faramire spoke calmly in a voice that seemed to float on the airwaves.

"You said he was a diplomat, can he... Can he speak, your majesty?" Ahna approached Prince Elessar.

Suddenly the Eldeen the Unicorn’s horn began to glow of a bright golden light. A voice began to echo calmly in Ahnaliese’s subconscious. The voice was deep and soothing to the ear. It was Eldeen communicating with the Countess telepathically. “There are many ways to ‘speak’ honorable Countess. However, how a Unicorn speaks must indeed be a curious matter to many I suppose. I therefore do understand why you ask. A Unicorn’s voice is heard in the heart. This is how we communicate, if not through the Keepers that guard us.” Eldeen answered Ahnaliese’s question.

Lolindir Fefalas stepped forward toward the Unicorn Keeper and inquired, “I was not made aware that the Prince Elessar, the fabled Unicorn Eldeen, and the Countess of Deva would be present this evening.”

Ingwe quickly butted in, “I invited them. They had concerns to bring to the council regarding various matters of importance and I thought, ‘why not just have them for the Festival of Unity? Invite them to attend the council meeting as well.’ I didn’t think to trouble you or most of the other councilmen with knowledge of my spur of the moment decision. I didn’t think it would be problematic.” Ingwe was glad to see that the countess and the prince of the Unicorn keepers could attend.

Lolindir then asked, “Well then, would you mind sharing with us something of these matters of concern?” He was most curious as to what brought them to speak with the Fea council.

Faramire looked to Eldeen a then stoked his mane before he began to speak. “We, under the great moon of the Pale Crystal Wood, have noticed a more frequent trespassing of our wood in the Wylds by Orcs and Feral elves. They carry weapons as if prepared for war. Crossing through the Pale Crystal Wood allows one to reach the Wizard Tower and Spire Rock with greater ease. A unicorn was captured and we were not able to recover her. These Orcs and Feral elves were definitely on an assignment. They were focused unlike the usual occasional trespasser. I felt the Seelie should know and be ready to intercept in case of a threat. We Unicorn Keepers are not prepared for an all-out war. We of the wood would like to request that the Seelie look into this matter.”

Lolindir focused his eyes in on the prince and responded, “This is indeed a curious matter
” Then he looked over to Mablung who seemed upset at the Prince of the Unicorn Keepers’ presence. However Mablung tended to carry an angry disposition most of the time so it was difficult for anyone to clearly pinpoint his true source of irritation. Lolindir then smiled at Mablung, who didn’t return the gesture, and then turned to Countess Ahnaliese. “So Countess what concern do you wish to address at tomorrow’s meeting?” Lolindir asked with a rising intonation that captured his curiosity.

"How dare you decide the line between civilized and feral!" The giant green man shouted. The other guests in the room were slightly startled by the sudden outburst. However once they realized that all was okay they resumed their previous conversations.

The countess then addressed the half-orc. "A'ka'no, I know this must be hard for you but please careful to not say anything you'll regret."

The Half-orc rebutted, "More like you'll regret." he stomped off.

Faramire remained calm in disposition. He had seen many an orc in the Wyld where the Pale Crystal Wood was located. He did not mean to insult the half-orc or anyone else, but the issue at hand needed to be explained as it was. Eldeen, the unicorn, nudged Faramire reassuringly on the shoulder.

The countess continued, "I'd like to address the issue of skinners who kill intelligent beings for their parts", she sounded mostly calm but emotion could be heard in her voice.

Lolindir frowned. “Skinners? What a disgusting bunch of low lives. Yes this is a problem. I won’t have them running about Arcadia skinning people and selling their disgusting wares if I have any say in it. If someone tries to sell a skin to me I’d have them jailed on the spot for merely repulsing me.” Lolindir responded as if vexed by the mere thought of skinners.

Cirdan stepped forward, “Well Lolindir since you have such momentum, why don’t you aide the Countess in spearheading the plea for a crack-down on the skinner issue?” He grinned knowing Lolindir wanted nothing to do with the issue but he would be perfect for enforcing the campaign against skinners.

“Me? This sort of campaign seems more so up your, Voronwe, or Ingwe’s cobblestone pathway not mine. Why would you think me perfect for such a task?” Lolindir sneered.

“Well you’re most efficient and I’m sure this matter will be best taken care of for the Countess and her people if you handled it with your own capable hands.” Cirdan reassured Lolindir with a smile only a politician could give.

“Well, you bring up a good point
Tomorrow, if the council decides that this issue is to be addressed under our watch then I shall volunteer to spearhead it.” Lolindir said to Cirdan with a snide smile. He was usually selfishly motivated and almost always gained something personally from his council work. However this was one of those rare occasions where the pale raven haired elf magician was doing something for reasons outside of himself. He turned to the Countess, “You can count on me to see that this problem be nullified given the council wills it so.” He gave Countess Ahnaliese a bow with a hand over his well-defined chest.

Aearion Turin was enlightened hearing about some of the land dwellers issues. He was reminded of what his father would tell him about the land above the water’s surface and how much turmoil it was in. It was for this reason the Merpeople divorced the land and left it to its own fate by diminishing into to sea. The Treaty to be signed annually was for the sake of allowing the Merpeople to be a neutral party in Arcadia’s struggles.

“Well Prince Aearion, Princess Merilwen, Duke Aranhil, you three appear to be very tired. Ingwe why don’t you allow them to call it a night and rest for the meeting tomorrow?” Voronwe suggested.

“Oh you are right! My apologies my guests! It’s so easy for me to get caught up in a social gathering. Countess Ahnaliese you must be weary of travel too. I will have someone escort you to your quarters if you will it. Prince Faramire you and Eldeen as well.” Ingwe spoke loudly with a grand smile. He was so happy to have everyone gathered together.
Ingwe summoned a human servant to escort the countess and her companions to her quarters when she was ready to turn in for the night. He summoned another human servant to escort Faramire and Eldeen to their quarters as well. The Unicorn Keeper and Unicorn bowed and then took their leave.

“I’ll show you to your Quarters Duke Aranhil. Follow me if you will.” Voronwe offered the Merman.

“Why thank you councilman. I appreciate that.” Aranhil replied with a smile.

Alatariel summoned two servants to escort Merilwen and Aearion to their rooms as well. They bid goodnight to each other and departed for the night.

Voronwe spoke with Aranhil while they headed to his quarters. “I really enjoy your company Duke Aranhil. I can tell you are blessed with much wisdom. Wisdom is something I cherish in a friend and companion.” Voronwe said with a sheepish smile, his head tilted downward toward the floor.

“Thank you Councilman you are most kind. I honestly feel the same about you as well.” Aranhil smiled.

The two reached Aranhil’s quarters and opened the door. The room was simple but upscale. It had many expensive items. Aranhil was in awe of the space. However it donned on him that this was indeed a room befitting a land dweller. It wasn’t too far off from one a merperson would have but there was one vital thing missing, that thing was water. A merperson’s bed didn’t have to be very soft because the reduced gravity of being in water kept him or her from being too heavy. However gravity on land was in full effect and a bed there would not be the same for the dead weight of a merman.

Voronwe noticed Aranhil’s fading smile and asked, “What’s wrong Aranhil? Are you alright?” Voronwe’s face showed much concern.

“I just realized
once I cease levitating, my dead weight will make it hard to get comfortable here
would you mind sticking around to help me get adjusted? I’m sorry for such informality.” Aranhil looked embarrassed.

Voronwe laughed quietly and rubbed Aranhil’s arm. “Oh of course I don’t mind. And don’t you worry about formality with me. You just call me Voronwe not councilman, alright.”

“Thank you Voronwe. Okay I shall try this bed
” Aranhl levitated to the bed and proceeded to sit down on the bedside. He released himself from levitating and his body quickly dropped heavily to the bed. Voronwe caught Aranhil but he was much heavier than Voronwe had anticipated. The two sunk into the fluffy bed.

“Oh no, I didn’t break anything did I?!” Aranhil looked around swiftly.

“No, no, you’re okay now.” Voronwe began laughing. “Look at us
this is most amusing.” Voronwe continued to chuckle while Aranhil blushed all over.

Aranhil pulled himself, struggling to get comfortable. The bed was very soft, too soft for Aranhil’s weight. His tail was somewhat heavy, had he human legs this situation wouldn’t be problematic. However Aranhil needed to consume a special plant to obtain human legs.

“Here let me help you.” Voronwe said as he braced Arahnil’s back with arm and tucked his other arm under Aranhil’s tail. He was able to lift Aranhil a bit and position him comfortably on the big fluffy bed. “You are heavy my friend. Is this better?” Voronwe asked sounding a little winded.

“Yes this is as good as it gets I think. Thanks” Aranhil out of being purely flustered took deep breaths as well.

“Well, I shall leave you to rest up for tomorrow’s big council meeting,” Voronwe began to speak as Aranhil interrupted him.

“Please don’t go! I mean

I would much like it if you could stay here with me. I have faced many a danger in the past but I’ve always had the sea to comfort me. But here I am without the sea. Here, I am comfortless, a fish out of water so to speak. You are the one thing here in this room that brings me some form of comfort. Please I may sound like a terrified child but I beg you to stay here with me.” Aranhil’s bewitchingly blue eyes gleamed as he pleaded.

Voronwe stared in surprise for a moment not knowing what to do, he then felt a warm feeling on his shoulder. His wife’s spirit placed her hand there. He could hear the words, ‘stay
’ whispered in his ear in a voice most familiar. It was indeed her spirit, she always watched over Voronwe. “Sure, Aran. I will stay. Where shall I sit, is the couch there okay?”

“No here with me.” Aranhil patted the bedside next to him.

Voronwe quietly walked over, and removed his over robe leaving only his pants on that he wore beneath. “I don’t have another shirt on outside of my over robe, I hope that isn’t a problem.” Voronwe asked sheepishly.

“You’re okay. You’re better than I. I am in fact practically naked. However, unless we have human legs, it seems most land dwellers don’t really consider us merpeople that way, thankfully.” Aranhil replied with a chuckled. He laid his head down and was ready to sleep. Voronwe pulled up the covers one over Aranhil and one over himself and the two drifted off to sleep.

Faramire Elessar, the unicorn keeper, and Eldeen were guided to their quarters for the night. The human servant was a quiet girl of 17. She looked at Faramire in wonder. She could sense that he was different from the elves she was so used to serving. He carried an air of peace and calm about him. “This is the room for Prince Elessar and Prince Eldeen.” The girl spoke nervously. “This room is a bit larger than the normal size room your highness. It has a bed and the most comfortable floor mattress for the Unicorn Prince Eldeen. I- I hope everything is to your liking.” The girl hung her head low as she was afraid to give either the Eldeen and Faramire eye contact.

“Thank you very much. I am sure that all of your accommodations are fine and in order.” Faramire replied calmly.

The girl bowed a little and began to turn around. She then stopped short and asked the prince. “Um-excuse me your highness, but I
 um, I
 have a question.”

Faramire looked at the girl passively, “Yes, child of the Earth, what is it?” Faramire spoke calmly.

The girl jumped a bit in fear. She had forgotten the sudden spike of boldness that she momentarily gained in initially stating that she had a question. “Oh, well
is your highness an elf like those here in the seelie? You don’t seem like one of them but your ears are still elf-like. I beg you to forgive me! It was a foolish thing to ask!” The girl was shuddering in fear that she had made a big mistake.

“Fear not, oh child of the Earth. You have spoken no wrong to me.” Faramire had replied to her with a smile. “I am not an elf like those of the Seelie. I am a form of Fae of the forests. You might say a forest nymph.” Faramire’s form of speech was most interesting to the slave girl. She wondered why he called her a child of the Earth.

“Oh. I see. Thank you for answering a question from the likes of me.” The girl replied humbly. She felt more comfortable speaking with him now.

Faramire’s face became concerned. He knew of that most all of Arcadia enslaved human beings but he and those of the Pale Crystal Wood held no particular discrimination against humans. So the girl’s response as if being beneath him troubled Faramire. “Oh young child of the Earth, thank you for having me in your land as a guest. You have treated me kindly. There are many and elf lord here that could learn from you young one.” Faramire said with a bow. The girl was surprised and she blushed vividly. “Would you mind showing me out side to the courtyard? I am not quite ready to retire for the night.” Faramire asked with a smile. Eldeen remained silent.

“Oh sure, I’d love too!” The slave girl said in an excited manner. She lead the group out into the courtyard where the moon shined brightly down from the sky. “It’s a beautiful night out. Would your highness be needing anything else?” She inquired.

“No that will be all, thank you very much. I know how to get back to the quarters provided for Eldeen and I so you need not be of worry. Goodnight young Child of the Earth.” Faramire bid farewell. The girl bowed and departed. Faramire knelt down on his knees and looked up to the blue moon and began to speak, Eldeen followed suite. “Oh great moon, from which my people come, we give thanks to you for your travelling blessing.” Faramire and Eldeen began to glow brightly.

The moon began to turn almost red in color. Faramire began to worry. “Oh great moon, why doth thou cry?! Red is your shine a scream of sorry consumes you, why?” Faramire pleaded to the night sky. Eldeen began to neigh.

A willowy voice wisped through the air as it was carried by the night’s breeze. “I court the Earth, and it is on this eve that innocent blood was shed on my beloved Earth. Earth weeps and so do I.” The moon spoke to the Unicorn Prince and Faramire.

“Faramire, the Earth mourns the loss of innocents. It has seen much trouble. Something is a foot. We must remain vigilant and do what we can to see that Arcadia see’s peace so our moon again knows peace.” Eldeen said to Faramire calmly.

“The great moon has seen a human man of partial sight. He has slain the slayer of the innocents. He fights for a freedom stained in the blood of humanities oppressors. I Faramire Elessar much desire to speak with this man of partial sight. For it is this man the moon watches with fixed eyes.” Faramire spoke with resolve to meet the man of partial sight, Luthor Huss.

The two turned in for the evening and a new day began. The council meeting was afoot. It was the day before the Festival of Unity. The Seelie council gathered together in the grand council room. It was a beautiful elvan styled room of trees and branches. The councilmen sat together in at a long elevated table. The guests who presented issues to the council sat facing them on a lower level of flooring. It was this set up that made the councilmen seem a tad intimidating.

The mer royals presented their treaty to the Seelie council as a representative did annually. The Councilmen looked it over. When it was time for each councilman to give his vote they stated their vote aloud one by one. Ingwe approved of the treaty first. Councilman Rumil Nenharma seconded the approval with a grand smile. Voronwe, Cirdan, Amroth and Meaglin also approved of the treaty. However, there were two among the group that would not see the treaty passed without a few amendments.

Ingwe spoke, “Mablung Tasartir, what is your decision?” Ingwe smiled as he asked. Things seemed to be going about swimmingly.

The bronze half orc half elf turned toward Prince Aearion Turin and spoke with a sharp look “I disapprove of this treaty as is.” His face was stern and un-flinching.

Ingwe’s smile faded fast. Aearion’s eyes widened and Merilwen placed her hands over her chest in shock. Aranhil glared sharply at the councilman of bronze armor. The other councilmen looked at Mablung in confusion. “What is the meaning of this? Why disagree?”Voronwe shouted.

Ingwe slammed his mallet hesitantly, “Voronwe, I must ask you to remain in order. Now, Councilman Mablung Tasartir wants to amend the treaty before it is passed. Before we ask what Councilman LĂłlindir FĂ«falas’ decision is, is there any among you councilmen that wishes to second an amendment?” Ingwe asked with a grave look. He was not happy that someone was opposed to the peace treaty that the mer people and the Seelie had upheld for so long.

“Actually I second the request for an amendment.” Lolindir said with a nonchalant expression.

Ingwe sighed, “Since we have a second to the motion for an amendment it shall be heard. Councilman Mablung, what is the proposed amendment?”

“I would think this treaty is good for the recent past but not our future. And it is with OUR future in mind that I desire an amendment. This treaty looks out only for the interest of the mer kingdom. It allows them to not be held accountable for the affairs of the land when in times of trouble. The Seelie is in danger my lord. Arcadia is in danger. The mortals are killing elves in the streets. Times are growing darker and the wizards of wizard tower are still a problem not yet dealt with. We of the Seelie can’t tackle these issues without help, for are list of allies grows thin. I would like to request the future aid of the mer militia in times of crisis.” Mablung spoke in a serious tone.

“What? This is insane!” Prince Aearion was livid.

“We must come to a vote and if more are in favor of the change we will amend the treaty.” Ingwe said in a tone of disapproval.

The councilmen voted and only Meaglin, Mablung, and Lolindir, were in favor of an amendment. The other councilmen declined the amendment and the treaty was placed back on the table as is. Ingwe spoke, “Why don’t we continue the meeting after the festival of unity tomorrow. All will be better thought through after a bit of celebration. As council head I call this meeting adjourned.” Ingwe slamed the mallet down and the council members left for the day.

“Worry not Aearion. All will be fine.” Merilwen gave the prince a hug. He was silently furious that there were councilmembers that would disturb the peace of the mer kingdom.

Faramire and Eldeen looked on quietly. They didn’t like the scene that unfolded in the council room. “The earth shall soon see much discord. I feel it trembling even now.” Faramire said quietly to himself and Eldeen.

The dawning of the Festival of Unity was upon the citizens of Arcadia. Many of the servants of Spire Rock rushed about preparing for the festival. Many balloons and decorations were applied everywhere. The already abundantly beautiful land was adorned with even more ceremonious pomp and measure. There were rounds of musicians that played all the day long. About the land, vendors set up booths and shops. Everyone was in a festive mood, lest you were a slave.

Ingwe walked about the Seelie looking over the day’s preparations. He was pleased with the outcome of the work everyone was doing. He smiled as the sun shined down on the land. LĂłlindir FĂ«falas gracefully approached Ingwe. “Morning Ingwe. I see we are still vigilantly wake and clinging to this falsehood of unity today.” He smirked. Lolindir liked to tease Ingwe’s sense of bright optimism. He wasn’t the biggest fan of the Festival of Unity. Lolindir was swift to admit that the land was in fact divided and lacking equality. He didn’t necessarily want things to become exactly “equal” Perce but he did want everyone to stop “lying” to themselves about equality that wasn’t there.

“As pessimistic as usual you are Lolindir. Even today’s beautiful bright sun fails to eliminate the perpetual rain cloud over your disposition.” Ingwe rebutted with a grand chuckle. He was an expert at dealing with each councilmember and their unique personalities. They were somewhat like his children, even though he indeed had his own daughter, Alatariel LĂ©ralondĂ«.

Alatariel Léralondë

Alatariel sat in the seelie’s private garden courtyard. She sat amongst the flowers staring into a fountain of clear, sparkling holy water. She looked worried as the breeze wisped through the columns and into the garden. She was reading the wind. The Elvan priestess carried a look of great worry. The wind carried a sense of foreboding as if afraid of something. She caught hold of a petal that was being carried by the wind and placed it into the holy water. “Winds of change
what is it that you bring? Tell me why my spirit senses such uneasiness.” She whispered.

The wind began to pick up and the water of the fountain grew still. It showed an image of a elf surrounded by light. His face was not able to be seen for the illumination was far too great. He began to fade and with him the light. 7 figures stood together but soon began to separate from one another. The water then began to boil and displayed an image of beasts. They carried a frail child who was covered by a transparency of a spirit, strong and ominous. The fountain created a flash of light and returned to normal. Alatariel had just received a prophecy as she was indeed a priestess. She quickly rushed in search of her father.

The Mer Royals

Merilwen led Aearion and Aranhil about having them try the different foods of the land. She was very excited to see the different foods, some of which she’s tasted before and some she simply desired to try for the first time. “Oh you must try this dish!! It’s one of the most wonderful things you’d ever eat!” Merilwen exclaimed, her cheeks rosy and expression full of glee.

“You’ve said the same thing about the last five dishes Merilwen! I’ll be too fat to float if you keep feeding me things!” Aearion fussed. He was just as curious as Merilwen but was too proud to show it.

“No one forced you to eat anything Prince
Merilwen simply suggested that you try those things and you quickly devoured them. You actually seemed pretty eager to eat them if you ask me.” Aranhil chuckled. He loved to call Aearion out.

“But no one asked you! So hush cousin Aran!!” Aearion now felt embarrassed. He could never fool Aranhil. Merilwen laughed aloud.

Merilwen spotted Elemmire the dryad who sauntered about looking over the flower arrangements for the festival. “Lady Elemmire! Good day to you!” Merilwen greeted her and swam about in the air toward the dryad.

“Ah~ good morning dear Pearl Princess! You look lovely and happy today! Enjoying things so far?” Elemmire asked as she smiled elegantly.

“Indeed we are! I have a bit of a favor to ask of you if that is alright.” Merilwen said sheepishly.

“Oh~ well now my dear let us not have autumn leaves!! Don’t be afraid ask me anything!” Elemmire giggled.

“Thank you! There is an important matter that I must see to in the forest of Anaon. Are you familiar with the existence of a seaside cottage on the edge of the Anaon forest? I am in need of a guide there. Could you take us there tomorrow?” Merilwen requested shyly.

“Oh
I do believe I have seen that cottage! It was quite the subject of interest for a while many years ago for us forest dwellers. There was a human that would go to and fro fron there on occasion. He looked to be quite handsome even when he aged. He treated the forests very respectfully to my surprise so none of the forest creatures gave him any trouble. But I haven’t seen him in a few years now. Why do you know about this place dear princess?” Elemmire was most intrigued about this inquiry.

“I knew that man very well. He is actually very dear to me and I must see to him. Will you show us the way?” Merilwen seemed a bit reflective as she spoke.

“But of course I shall show you the way! By the way I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to be nosey!” Elemmire laughed a loud. She had a somewhat seductive voice about her.

“Oh thank you very much!!” Merilwen was overjoyed. This was the first step toward saving the love of her life.

Faramire and Eldeen

The unicorn keeper walked about the festival area. Those who were not setting things up were not yet allowed into the ceremony area yet. Many of the human workers and lower ranking servant creatures stared in awe at the prince of the unicorn keepers. They were finally seeing a fable come true. Faramire smilled at the sight of little slave children playing as their parents set things up. The little ones were seemingly carefree much to his surprise. Faramire and Eldeen had received word from the moon that beasts of the Wild neared the Spire Rock. Eldeen could always sense the presence of werewolves as they had a very specific form of energy about them. Werewolves were also creatures associated with the moon. Faramire couldn’t determine whether the group of wolves were harboring any malicious intent but his focus was on finding Luthor Huss.

“I know he shalt be here, as sure as the sun chases The Great Moon. I much desire to speak with him. He is dear to the Earth’s heart. It concerns the Moon’s beloved Earth and thus concern’s us.” Faramire spoke to Eldeen while looking directly ahead.

“Indeed, Faramire, I hope he will be willing to speak with us. I desire to meet this man the moon watches with fixed eyes as well.” Eldeen spoke to Faramire. His words echoed quietly in Faramire’s heart.

"I do believe. That a seat has remained here for me for a good many years." The Bzou said in a strange and disturbing voice.

Councilman RĂșmil NĂ©nharma approached the band of wolves. He was officially overseeing the welcoming committee for the festival. “Welcome distinguished guests! You must be the Great Bzou, are you not? Your appearance has indeed changed over the years. I am Councilman RĂșmil NĂ©nharma. Your place has indeed remained here at the Festival of Unity. Right this way please.” He said elegantly with a bow.

Alatariel Léralondë

Alatariel ran through the halls of Spire Rock. She searched for her father. She saw him standing on a balcony overlooking the festivities below. Councilman Lolindir was with him. “Father! There you are! I must speak with you at once. Councilman Lolindir, good morning to you. Pardon me my lord, may I have a word with my father in private?” Alatariel struggled to gather her calm.

“Indeed my lady. I shall take my leave. I do sincerely hope all is well my lady. I will see you both at the festival’s beginning.” Lolindir replied calmly. He was curious as to what startled Alatariel so.

“I as well hope all is to be well councilman.” Alatariel replied.

After Lolindir left the two began to talk. Alatariel informed her father about the vision she was given. Ingwe was slightly concerned. “I wonder who this man of light that is to disappear is? Hmm
” Ingwe asked curiously.

“Father I believe someone is in danger here today. We must do something.” Alatariel pleaded.

“Worry not my dear. I’ll have the Lanterns keep an extra close watch over today’s proceedings. Today is a day of joy and celebration. Smile and don’t let such fantasia arouse such concern. I must see that things get started now. I’ll see you in the festival.” Ingwe spoke gently. He didn’t want Alatariel to worry herself and not enjoy the festival.

Faramire Elessar and Eldeen

Faramire and Eldeen searched the crowd of any sign of the man the Moon watched intently, Luthor Huss. The many people stared at them in awe. The many children ran up to the pair, much to their parents dismay, and begged to pet Eldeen. They were so excited because they had not seen a unicorn before. Eldeen gladly gave them the okay and the children stroked his smooth coat. Faramire smiled gently as he watched the happy children interact with the prince of unicorns.

Faramire spotted the wolves and the Bzou. There was a gargoyle staring curiously at the Bzou. Faramire and Eldeen walked up to the Gargoyle and answered the inaudible question. “She is now the Bzou, leader of the wolves. A human possessed by an ever-living spirit of the Wyldes. I see that Eldeen and I am not the only residents of the Wylde present today.” Faramire spoke to the Gargoyle while peering at the Bzou. He was certain that the Bzou sensed Eldeen and his presence there. The werewolves many years ago would trespass into the Pale Crystal Wood and were driven out by the Unicorn keepers. The Bzou and Prince Faramire came to an agreement that kept the werewolves from trespassing any further.

Ingwe headed downstairs to the main festival grounds. The Festival was to begin soon. Members of Wizard Tower were also present. They were able to set their personal qualms with the Seelie aside in order to attend the festival. Bishop Elendil Underhill of the Wizards Tower was present at the festival. He was an elegant man of good disposition. He was ushered in by Councilman Voronwe. Other members of the Wizards Tower were present as well. All of the distinguished guests were to be gathered soon in order to begin the procession into the opening ceremony.

Faramire Elessar and Eldeen

"Oh, thank you for the explanation sir...?" Krel trailed off. "My name is Krel Erro. Are you Eldeen?" he asked, addressing the unicorn.

Eldeen nodded his head and telepathically responded to Krel. “Yes, I am Eldeen of the Pale Crystal Wood. It is a pleasure to meet you Krel Erro. I’ve but a few occasions to have seen a Gargoyle before. Faramire and I do not often leave the Pale Crystal Wood so it is indeed refreshing to meet all of Arcadia’s wonderful citizens. Gargoyles are often found in cities with lots of stone correct? I would imagine that to be ideal for you.” Eldeen’s voice was deep and soothing, the listener usually felt a warmth in their heart when he spoke.

“My apologies for barging into your thoughts. Fore Eldeen and I are slightly telepathic to a certain degree and we often hear the random thoughts of others. I definitely did not intend to be so rude my friend. I sense you were having trouble with something. As a courtesy to you I offer my assistance to you in any way I can.” Faramire spoke to Krel with a smile.

The Mer Royals

While the three Mer Royals spoke with Elemmire the Dryad regarding visiting the cottage in the woods, the home of Aiden Vanderhill. They planned to see what they could do to set him free from his crystalized state. Elemmire saw a peculiar figure in the crowd. It was Brandeau the pirate. He walked through the crowd looking at all of the festivities. He was a human but not a slave and that fact seriously bothered many an Arcadian.
Image
“Who’s that mysterious man over there? He looks to be quite the bad boy
” Elemmire pointed to the man whom she found to be attractive.

Merilwen, Aearion, and Aranhil looked over to where Elemmire pointed only to the pirate Brandeau. Brandeau also spotted the group and a sarcastic grin crept across his face. He walked over toward the group and waved hello. “Well
my, my, my! It’s so nice to run into you fine Merfolks today! I knew I’d probably see you on stage or something but not in the crowd itself! I’ve become quite a lucky fellow!” Brandeau spoke in a cool raspy voice.

“Why would you come here? Aren’t you afraid someone would try to enslave you?” Merilwen protested.

“Well you see my dear, my documents are firm and in order so I should be having little to no trouble with that love. Perhaps I’ll spend the day with you then love. Since good ole Aiden is nowhere to be seen, I might as well keep you company.” Brandeau replied with a grin. He placed his arm around Merilwen’s shoulder and Merilwen responded by frosting over his hand. He quickly pulled it away.

“Alright, alright love. I get it. I mean you no harm, just putting it out there. My qualms with you are settled love. I’m more interested in my personal vendetta with Aiden. By the way
You wouldn’t happen to have heard the name Luthor Huss before have you?” Brandeau asked.

“Why no I have not heard that name before.” Merilwen responded curiously.

“That’s certainly not an elvish name, so if this Huss is a human, we certainly wouldn’t have heard of him. Nor do we care to know him.” Aearion sneered.

“Well, I’m Elemmire it’s a pleasure to meet you Mr
?” Elemmire introduced herself flirtatiously.

“Ah~ How could I ignore such a beautiful petal? My apologies love, I am Brandeau. It’s a pleasure to meet you miss Elemmire! I am most glad to meet a Dryad most beautiful like you.” Brandeau responded with a smile. Elemmire blushed as Brandeau kissed her hand.

The sheer scale of the festival grounds astounded Luthor. They were like nothing he had ever seen in the city before. He stalked through the crowd, ever vigilant. He was sure that Ingwe and the other disgusting nobles wouldn't be here in the outlying fairgrounds. They would be closer to the epicenter, most likely about to take part in some obscene ritual that would officially initiate this debauched revelry. He hoped they were all there, all of them. He wanted them all to watch. Luthor licked his teeth and pulled his hood closer around his face as he passed through one of the many wooden entrance gates.

There were Lanterners everywhere, more than Luthor had ever seen in one location before. He was sure there were even more disguised and mingling in the crowd as well. The thought made his skin crawl. How many screams would pierce the night in the Old Quarter, just so these pompous pigs could breathe easy?

As expected, the outlying parts of the festival were mostly comprised of large, tented eating areas and food stalls. Not to mention a plethora of different alcohol vendors. Luthor was amazed at how many people were already here. The entire city must be practically empty, and he was sure there was no way the wooden fence confines of the fair grounds would be able to contain this party once it really started. The entire city would become on wretched hive of loosed inhibitions by nightfall.

It was almost too easy, he would kill Ingwe, a few other members of the Seelie for good measure, then simply make his way to the nearest sewer entrance through a city too drunk to care. In fact, there was only one issue that was pressing into his mind at the moment. The wolf girl. He didn't know what she was, or how she would react to him slaughtering a couple of nobles; but something told him she would most definitely be present, and not intoxicated.

His hunch proved truthful. There she was, sitting at a grand, open air gathering amongst the other Seelie and Wizard's Tower representatives. She seemed to have caused quite a fuss, and almost every gaze in the vicinity was directed at her. He came as close as he dared, making it a point to not look directly at her, in case she sensed his gaze. He heard many mumblings in the crowd, and gradually pieced together what the wolf girl really was.

“She is now the Bzou, leader of the wolves. A human possessed by an ever-living spirit of the Wyldes."

Luthor sneered, so she really wasn't human eh? Not even a female anymore really. He felt Gram hum with anticipation, the power runes on its blade fired up in response to his excitement. Not really a girl, that meant he didn't have to hold back if....

Luthor turned towards the voice, a boy, a gargoyle, and a... unicorn... Strange, he had never seen an actual unicorn before. The boy and horned horse reeked of magic, and radiated a powerful presence. They stood out in the crowd starkly, Luthor wasn't sure how he hadn't noticed them before. The gargoyle seemed quite taken aback as well. The boy and unicorn were obviously nobles, but then, why weren't they in the place of honor along with the others?

Strange. More and more loose ends were beginning to appear. Luthor realized that his night might be much more complicated than he had thought.

Faramire Elessar and Eldeen

As Faramire spoke to Krel the gargoyle, he felt alerted to a peculiar presence. It was as if the moonlight had shown in the daytime to him. The moon in which was his deity was informing him that the one he sought was present. Faramire looked up to the sky briefly and then peered over his shoulder in a melancholy manner at Luthor Huss. He turned to Krel and bowed. “My apologies my friend of stone, but I must meet with someone that I have sought for some time now. I would like to give you this as a gift of parting.” Faramire said as he handed Krel a small white crystal that sparkled. “This is a crystal from the Pale Crystal Wood. It is a item blessed by the Great Moon of the night kingdom. If you are in trouble and in need of a miracle, this crystal will anoint you with divine favor. If you’ll excuse me.” Faramire smiled and turned to walk toward Luthor Huss. Eldeen followed behind Faramire after bidding Krel goodbye.

Faramire slowly walked up to Luthor Huss and smiled. He could feel Huss’ human heart echo with a warm and vibrant rhythm. He could tell that this man carried change everywhere he treaded. He stood in front of Huss and then bowed. Eldeen followed suit and bowed to Huss. “Sincere Greetings to the one the Great Moon watches with a fixed gaze. I am Prince Faramire Elassar of the Pale Crystal Wood. This is Eldeen, lord of the Unicorns. We have been searching for you in an effort to speak with you. We mean you no harm, therefore arms are not necessary. You are dear to this Earth, therefore you are of importance to the Great Moon. Today you shall bring fall leaves and eternal winter winds to and elvish tree. Oh bringer of change, may I ask you your name?”

Today you shall bring fall leaves and eternal winter winds to and elvish tree. Oh bringer of change, may I ask you your name?”

The boy spoke as he bowed. He used terms and titles unfamiliar to Luthor, and his speech pattern was sing-songy and antiquated. Still, the message was clear, he had just been introduced to a horned horse, and the moon stalked him.

"The Great Moon huh? I didn't know the moon could watch anyone. Still, I appreciate your gesture. My name is Luthor Huss, I'm a blacksmith's assistant." He stated.

He wondered why the boy had made it clear he meant no harm. It wasn't normal practice on a normal day, let alone during a festival of friendship and unity. He quickly dissected the introduction in his mind, and realized that, somehow, this boy had an inkling of what Huss planned on doing that night. Anticipation creeped into his heart, if he was pointed out by this duo and the Lanterners descended on him, he would have to fight his way all the way to Ingwe right then and there.

Faramire Elessar and Eldeen

"The Great Moon huh? I didn't know the moon could watch anyone. Still, I appreciate your gesture. My name is Luthor Huss, I'm a blacksmith's assistant." Huss stated.

Faramire giggled a little at Huss’ reaction to his talk of the moon. The horns blew in celebration of the ceremony’s beginning. Faramire turned slightly to look back at the stage. Ingwe, Alatariel, Voronwe and the other council members stood atop the stage and the crowd began to focus their attention on the main events. “I fear we shall have little time permitted to us to speak with each other. Here, this is something I should bestow upon you. It’s is known as the miracle stone. It will activate when your heart is in need of blessing. Until we speak again, do know that the Earth, that is so dear to our great Moon, see you as a king and steward of change for this land.” Faramire said calmly before looking up to the sky while holding his hand over his heart. “Oh Great Moon, thank you for allowing us this occasion.” Faramire said softly in a slightly chant like manner. “We shall see each other again, my human friend.” Faramire said with a smile.

The Mer Royals

Lord Ingwe stood on the stage and announced the major guests of the festival of unity. There were fireworks, and loads of theatrics about. “I am honored to have many distinguished guests here with us today. I would as if you would ascend to the designated seats assigned to you and your party when you are announced.” Ingwe began. “Prince Aearion Tulrin, Son of King Vehiron. His royal highness hails from the ocean kingdom of Mornenion.” The announcer called out Aearion and he levitated forward. “Aranhil Rinion, Duke of Ilaria the Western Sea. Merilwen Vanamarilla Princess of Airemana, the Eastern Sea.”

Brandeau and Ellemmire watched as the Mer Royals, being summoned to the stage, began to move forward. Aearion didn’t leave without giving Brandeau a warning. “You had better not cause trouble, pirate.” Aearion hissed.

Brandeau grinned with a snicker. “Don’t you worry, Dolphin. I wouldn’t dare have all of these Lanterns comin’ after me now would I?” Bandeau motioned for the Merman prince to proceed toward the stage. The three mer royals approached the stage. The crowd cleared the way for them as they passed. The people were in awe of the mer-people as they levitated to the stage area.

Next The announcer called the name of the representative from the Wizards Tower, “Bishop Elendil Underhill of the Wizards Tower.” Elendil walked gracefully toward the stage. He emanated strong magic to those in his presence. The Byzou was announced next. Ingwe thanked all of his distinguished guests for attending and supporting the unity of the land.

“I would also like to announce something special today. On this day of celebration, I would like to announce that my daughter Alatariel shall be engaged to High Councilor Lolindir. This is a joyous occasion and my daughter is happy with her husband to be. I pray you bestow upon them your blessings.” Ingwe smiled greatly. Everyone knew that marriage to a head of the High council’s child would mean being appointed the head of the high council upon the current head’s dismissal, death, or retirement from the position. The kingdom cheered. Lolindir smiled only slightly. He was generally interested in Alatariel and did have feelings for her. Ingwe was confident that Lolindir would indeed treat Alatariel well and take care of her.
