xxAppearance:
Elliot has a particularly dishevelled disposition that has a tendency towards typically avantgarde styles than 9-to-5 business casual. Elli’s hair, when it is grown out (and it usually is), curls in perfect ringlets. If he cared enough to brush it, it would look very sweet. This hairstyle leaves him looking boyish. Elli’s eyes are a warm, copper brown. They have a peculiar round shape that tapers perfectly on either end, framed with thick, long lashes. Elli has sculpted, dramatic facial features. His thick eyebrows render it impossible to conceal his expressions. His nose is wide, and his lips are full, with a long, exaggerated bow.

He doesn’t have any tattoos, “but I do have a mole I am particularly fond of.” He’s typically slim, but works out regularly. 6 feet tall, with broad shoulders. He has a beautiful smile, but his teeth are yellowed from his smoking habit. Elliot’s morning routine usually consists of falling out of bed, stumbling into in the shower, and having a cigarette.

xxPersonality:
Elliot (or Elli) crowds your physical, emotional, and psychological space. He tests and observes. His primary goal is to weed out individuals who he deems socially inferior. If Elli is testing someone, he won't interrogate them. Instead, he will place himself, in an otherwise empty elevator, right next to this person. When he determines that a person is not fit for his standards, he loses interest.

Elliot has an obnoxious and vulgar sense of humor. He loves the sound of his own voice. As narcissistic as he seems, he doesn’t really expect anyone to believe his self-proclaimed grandeur. He’s extremely manipulative and relentless when in pursuit of something he desires and typically cares little for anyone who gets caught in the crossfire. He’s detached from everybody in his life, and experiences difficulty maintaining friendships, let alone relationships.

Easy going and charming, Elli can appear collected at all times. In contrast, however, his energy feels erratic and unpredictable. Insomnia plays a large role in his emotional state. The longer he goes without sleep, the more likely he is to snap at any moment. Elliot has read that you can't exactly die from sleep deprivation, but believes that it will probably be the death of him. It’s only a problem when he falls asleep in accidental locations, or pass out while crossing the street.

xxHistory:
Elliot Crowley grew up in a two-parent home, where depression was a genetic hand-me-down and not one person says how they really feel. Like watching phases of the moon, Elliot watched the nightly phases of his parent’s low-income employment in the small town of Portlaoise, Ireland. Elliot’s father struggled to keep a job, and often throughout the year, Elliot’s mother would find a temporary position at a local shop.

While both his parents struggled to get by, Elli and his older brother, Arthur, had to attend school-events, such as career day, on their own. They were often viewed differently by their peers. Students of all ages would spread rumors about Elliot & Arthur’s family. Sometimes students even wondered if they had parents. Elliot took the brunt of these rumors. He loathed them. He felt the need to pick a fight every chance he got, until one day Elliot had gone too far. As freshmen, a boy named Evan had accused Elliot of theft. He refused to let such an accusation go. Even if he wanted to, Evan would have made him pay for it.

Elliot encouraged the developing fight, antagonized Evan, and eventually was mercilessly beaten. Slammed onto the cement and repeatedly kicked, he was trapped on the ground. There was something in that moment that changed Elliot. He did not want to fight anymore. It was a miracle his brother stepped in. Elliot was one strike away from brain damage, but after that he resented his brother for getting involved. It was his fight. He and his brother began to grow apart after this.

Elliot’s father became an alcoholic and his mother later left him. Some trauma in Elli’s past lead to his chronic insomnia. But what it was, Elli couldn’t say. Sooner or later Elliot’s bed became more of a decoration.

Arthur was suddenly a star-student. He graduated with full honors, found a stable job, and attended a nice university. While Elli barely graduated and struggled to find any employment. When he turned 18 he moved to Princeton, New Jersey, where he couch surfed for almost an entire year, trying to find any job. He initially moved because his cousin lived in Jersey, but his cousin wasn’t very welcoming, and Elliot found himself destitute.

He was a grocery store clerk for a while, before his was fired for flirting with the customers. Eventually he was even cast as King Lear at a local theater, where he made a couple hundred dollars. Since then he’s done several other productions. He heard about auditions for the new season of Are You the One? from someone at his theatre. He was desperate for money. And really, he was sort of perfect for it. “Luxurious hair, a voluptuous ass… I have everything Kim has and more.”

xxSeeking:
This is something Elliot can actually answer honestly. He is looking for someone practical and grounded, sensibility which he lacks. He wants the kind of person that embraces his sense of humor. Someone who does not pity him, or look down on him for his unemployment, but rather someone who encourages him. He would like to find a night owl, who could at least try to stay up with him at odd hours of the night when insomnia grips him. Elliot wants someone to drink with, but also someone to stop him from drinking so much. As much as he hates to admit it, it would be nice to be ‘called on his shit’ sometimes.

Despite all this, it will be difficult to please or impress Elliot, mostly because of his self-imposed standards. Elli bases a lot of his proceedings with acquaintances based on first-impressions alone. He could easily abandon his soulmate based on a bad first-impression, if he determines that they are weak and couldn’t handle it.

DAY 01
Paradise Island, Bahamas
Image

The sound of crushing waves can be heard in the distance as fourteen complete strangers stand before James Haynes, the host of Are You the One, with their new home behind them. This luxury villa will be their home for the next seven weeks as they go on a journey to find their perfect match. Seven men stand on the left side and seven women on the right. A few are already eyeing the opposites appraising each of them.

"Welcome everyone. You are all here for one thing, because you all have one thing in common: you suck at relationships." A few people laugh nervously, some shrug more or less agreeing, and others grit their teeth awkwardly. "Each one of you has been put through an extensive matchmaking process, using psychologists, compatibility tests, professional matchmakers, and information from your friends, families, and exes. Through this, we've been able to find an ideal match for each of you."

"Take a look at those across from you. One of them is your perfect match and it's up to you to find out who it is. You will have seven chances to pair up and find those seven, perfect matches. If you can do that, you'll leave the island with love and one more thing..." He pauses for dramatic effect, the contestants stare at him excitedly, "You will split the largest cash prize ever offered in MTV History. ONE MILLION DOLLARS!" The group cheers, pleased by this news. "Good luck!"

After finishing the show introduction, everyone moved inside the house. The sky was slowly moving into dusk so it was time to get the intros out of the way. Daniel lead the way, taking on the role of pack leader like he does with most things. While the house was gorgeous and he definitely appreciated it, he was more drawn to the bar hidden behind the staircase leading upstairs. 'Finally, my area of expertise.' He found an unopened bottle of champagne with fourteen glasses. He preferred something a lot stronger, but he can make do with this for now. "I found the alcohol everybody! Let's get this party started!" He began to pour drinks to anyone who held their glass out. He made his signature flirty eyes to a few of the girls before serving everyone.

Daniel raised his glass, "May we all find love or at least a good time! I look forward to getting to know all of you and I can't wait to find my match among these beautiful ladies. To being rich in love and rich with love." Daniel took a drink, finishing his toast. He ended up drinking the whole thing at once. A glass of champagne wouldn't have any effect on him so chugging the thing wouldn't hurt him.

~
Confessional
"I was laying it on thick when I gave that toast. I'm here to win the money. The girls in this house better not pull the whole, " He pauses, making his voice high pitched and valley girl sounding, "I like him, but he's not my match' thing, because I'm not losing 70K just because you felt something for the wrong person. If I find an awesome girl, great, but I won't have a hopeless romantic ruining this for me... God, I feel bad for the girl you've paired with me."
~

The toasting having ended, introductions among the contestants began. Daniel was right in the middle of it. Did he go over to the cute blonde he saw earlier? Or red hair? He could go to one of the three brunette girls or the two black haired ones. He decided on one of the brunettes. He thought he heard her name started with K. She was easily one of the hottest girls in the house and had the 'Head Bitch in Charge' look about her. He liked the difficult ones. They were the hardest to win over and most likely his type. Assholes tend to go with the bitchy girls so why not start there?

Daniel approached her, going straight for the hug. It was appropriate considering what this show was about and it didn't hurt to have some physical contact. "Hey! How ya doin'? I'm Daniel."

Sienna followed the group from the back, watching them all with a judgemental curiosity. Apparently one of them was going to be her match. Well, just by looking at them, none of them looked immediately like her type. That was, none of them looked stupid rich. But to be seen as playing along, she took the offered glass of champagne. The toast made her raise an eyebrow in scepticism as she sipped her drink.

Confessional:

Did anyone really believe that toast? Like, I saw right through it. And that was my first impression. Like, come on, man. If you're going to put on this grand, romantic act, at least make it believable.

She would have loved to have savoured the taste of the champagne. It tasted like luxury, like the life she wanted and would get, no matter what. But this was no charity gala, and she was guessing that everybody else intended on getting as drunk as possible. And hey, the alcohol was free. She wasn't going to turn it down.

She poured herself a strong vodka and coke, even digging out a straw and cocktail umbrella. She surveyed the room as she sipped her drink, eyeing up which of the guys seemed the least boring and most likely to be her match. First impressions were not good.

Confessional:

Hey, I know first impressions aren't always accurate and all that. But when you're as picky as I am? First impressions are everything. I know what I like in a guy. Confidence is attractive, arrogance is not. A guy comes across as arrogant? He's not getting as much as a second glance from me.

But scanning a room like the one she was in, it was hard to tell where confidence stopped and arrogance began. Having just given up on judging everyone, she turned to the guy nearest her. "Hey. You're... Elliot, right?" She asked. "Sienna. So. Fallen hopelessly in love with anyone yet?" She add, sipping on her drink with a smirk.

Tony Rogers
{27~#006400~Colorado Springs, CO~Here}
Tony had been to many places, but never to a tropical location. It was certainly a big departure from Colorado. He had lived in Florida, but that was the Panhandle, not like Miami and if he was being honest with himself, he did prefer cooler weather and higher altitudes. Still he learned to adapted to new situations so he was pretty sure he would manage here. He did need to buy new closes though and his mother and one of his sisters helped him out in that area since he wasn't a fan of the activity. The place they were staying out was definitely fancy. His parents had their dream home now, but even it wasn't this big since his mother did not want to clean a big place. If by some chance he did win money at the end of this, he made a promise to himself to send his parents on a nice cruise. He did discuss it with his siblings and all were on board with the idea. If not, they already decided they would just do it anyway, but it would take longer.

Tony's mind was diverted to the present when their host talked about the game and it was then Tony started looking at the women. First one that did catch his eye was the blonde, but not not wanting to be rude he only glanced at her briefly before glancing at the other ladies. All of them were lovely, but this didn't surprise him. His mother watched these kinds of shows and he learned good-looking people always made it onto these shows. He didn't appreciate the host's comment about sucking at relationships. He knew he was good at relationships, he had been married and very dedicated to his late wife Emily. Thinking about her now still brought about some sadness, but he knew that his late wife would want him to be happy and he did want a family too, so he figured it wouldn't hurt to try this.

Confessional
"I honestly don't know what to expect in this kind of situation. I plan to take it as I go. Quick shout out to my family though, thanks for everything."

Once the host left, one of the guys took charge with passing out the drinks. Having seen the guys before the girls, Tony knew already this would be one of the 'party guys' and would have an extra eye on him. He himself wasn't a fan of wine, so grabbed a beer instead. Soon, one other guy joined him, one that Tony liked already.

"Who are you going after?"

"Well, the blonde initially caught my eye, but I plan on finding out more about these ladies before deciding who I am spending time with more."

He honestly didn't know what to do next though. This was a unique situation and he felt like a fish out of water at the moment.

Elliot Ida Crowley enjoyed the sight of the mob. It bubbled over with laughter and excitement. Sweet smiles, overly friendly introductions -all were exchanged in the first few minutes of the show. Elliot looked like a shark, planted firmly at the center of the chaos. He observed each character carefully, and when prompted he greeted the pretty faces that passed by.

Elliot found his glass of champagne and played along with the toast.
"May we all find love or at least a good time! I look forward to getting to know all of you and I can't wait to find my match among these beautiful ladies. To being rich in love and rich with love." Sure it was BS, but so was all of it. That was the whole point of the game, and Elli loved it.

Ell found his way to the bar and leaned against it. To his right, a woman started speaking to him.
"Hey. You're... Elliot, right? Sienna." Elliot faced her, the glass still to his lips. She was pretty, and something about her screamed confidence. "So. Fallen hopelessly in love with anyone yet?" She teased him.

Confessional ───────────────────────────────────────────────

"This is easier than I thought it would be. What with my ridiculously good looks, I should have no problem at all."

─────────────────────────────────────────────── Confessional

Elliot snickered and glanced down at his drink.
"Fall? No- ehh, I'm more of a stumbler. Not very attractive, I'm afraid." He took another sip, and returned her gaze. "And you?"

Sienna seemed quick-witted, and he didn't mind spending his first televised conversation with her. Maybe she was his match made in heaven- or Hollywood Hell. Tous les meme. It was all the same to him. He relaxed into the counter and soaked it all in. From the vaulted ceilings, to the stained glass accents on the built-in shelving above the bar. The dark tile on the floor reminded him of a trip to Mexico he had in grade eleven, not to mention, the memories of sober mornings and regret.

Elliot gave her a toothy grin.
"I mean, if you like what you see, I can be yours. For a price." Elliot punctuated his sentence with a wink and gestured at his particularly average physique. After finishing his champagne, he loomed somewhat closer to her. Elliot was a slime-ball, and he knew it, but he felt it was part of his appeal. He had nothing to lose. Well, aside from $70,000.

Elliot's comment about being more of a stumbler made her smirk. Honestly, she understood. She wasn't really expecting a true, lifelong relationship from the show. Maybe somebody who'd be fun to spend some time with, get drunk with, hook up with, but she didn't see herself ending up in a long term relationship as a result of the show. "Don't know anybody well enough to say just yet," she said with a coy smile as she sipped her drink. His comment made her arch an eyebrow though, as she turned fully to look at him.

"Oh, honey. You think I'm just going to swoon and fall into your arms? I'm not that type of girl. You want me?" She asked, stepping a little closer. "You're gonna have to fight for me," she said, holding the eye contact before turning away again. "So come on. Prove yourself. Tell me what separates you from grand transparent gesture guy," she said, using her cocktail umbrella to indicate who she meant.

Confessional:

"Treat 'em mean, keep them keen. I don't want somebody who's just going to bat his eyelashes at me and think that'll be enough for me. I don't impress that easily."

She found herself wondering how exactly she was going to challenge this guy. Shots, maybe? If he could beat her, he might stand a chance. If not, at least he knew what he was up against. She knew that things would probably easier if she just went along with things, if she just did her best to try and find her match so she could win her money and move on. But that was just so boring. What was the point in that? She was gonna flirt and push and challenge the guys. The system was probably complete bull anyway, so she was gonna have a little bit of fun while she was at it.

There was something about Sienna that strung him along. Elliot was glad to have been addressed by her so early on. There were so many less than compelling people wandering around. In between exchanges, Ell would gaze around the room, but when she scoffed at his proposition, Elliot's attention was revived.

"Oh dear, so the tables have turned! ...Prove myself, ey?" The Irishman paused, then said, "Well, for one, I'm not as willing to make a massive, weeping anus of myself on television, but I do stress 'as.' Regrettably, what you see is what you get with me." The lilt at the end of his reply was loaded. While he was being as honest as he could, it was always difficult to tell the kind of substance his character was made of.

The light that fell onto them from the many windows artfully placed throughout the mansion began to get to Elliot. He hadn't slept at all the night before,

and only partially the night before that. His exhaustion was starting to become more apparent.

Ell could see Sienna's line of sight fixate on the bar for a moment. He could tell she was searching for something of interest to do. She was light on her feet, and he admired it. To keep from losing her attention, he thought quickly.
"Why don't we play a drinking game, but lets make it interesting," Elli suggested. He parted from Sienna and the bar in a sprightly fashion, crossing to the living room and digging through the cupboards beneath the towering bookcase. Underneath was a number of board games. It came down to how willing she was to play along, but with nothing else to do, Elliot felt he had very little to lose.
