xxAppearance:
Jack is very, very strict about his hair routine. He must take a shower and wash his hair once a day or it'll become an oily mess. It doesn't help that he uses hair gel constantly to maintain his windswept look. The sides of his head have been shaved off, leaving a pile of hair on top. Jack has an imposing stature, standing at 6'4. His somber expression only supports his mystery, bad boy appeal. With sharp, blue eyes, he has an intense gaze, like he's peering into your soul. Those eyes are hidden by glasses when Jack needs to read something.

Jack's color scheme is kept to mostly dark colors. Black is color of choice mostly because it goes with everything. He likes the edgy, punk look his clothes give off and tries to embody this style. He never goes anywhere without a leather jacket, even if it's burning hot outside. He likes tanks so he can show off his tattoos. Jack never goes anywhere without a watch on his wrist. Jack couldn't tell you what tattoos he's has on his body. His first tattoo started was the star of David, but his fascination grew with tattoos and he began to get more and more. His chest, back, neck, and arms are covered in tattoos, all with various meanings and stories. He also has a nose ring and multiple ear piercings.

ImageImage

xxPersonality:
Despite his rough and tough look, Jack is one of the shyest people you'll ever meet. He's the guy you'll see hanging out in the quiet area of a bar, not talking to anyone and just observing. He's been an antisocial person for a long time and can't get up the nerve to approach someone. Jack is an extremely private person so earning his trust is a huge feat that many haven't accomplished. Letting people has ended in heartbreak so it's easier to simple keep people at arm's length. Given he's a perfectionist, many times he holds himself, and others, to too high a standard resulting in him running himself ragged. Jack has been considered a snob due to this as well as his judgmental nature. He tends to take people at face value only, which is hypocritical considering he hates to when others view him the same way.

Many assume he's the classic bad boy, but you'll never find a bigger sweetheart once you get past his walls. He genuinely cares for others though he doesn't know how to express it. Things he considers important will get done with perfection. His mind is always rushing with new ideas and he tries to see things from different perspectives. He's insightful and in his own mind, one of the reasons he's so quiet. Jack is a creative and ambitious person. He doesn't like to settle and will do his best to find the best approach. He has a passion for knowledge and is always seeking to learn from others around, although he won't ask them directly.

xxHistory:
An only child raised by a single mother, Jack grew up by himself mostly. His father was never in the picture, but tried to send a postcard on his birthday and holidays. His grandparents did what they could to help, but Jack's mother didn't want to depend on them too much. They were getting on in their years so she tried to be there for Jack as much as she could. Sadly, she couldn't. Jack learned to make his own fun. He had an active imagination and always dreamed of a better possible life, one with an active father and mother and several siblings.

TV was one of the ways Jack entertained himself. He was fascinated with the way reporters talked about the local news. The way they researched and learned about the issues the world was facing was fascinating to him. His dream was to one day be like them. He'd be the star reporter that everyone tuned in to listen to. Jack got his chance in fifth grade when he won the chance to be a student interviewed by Chicago's local station for their school's going green mission. Unfortunately when cameras were on him, along with everyone's eyes, he got so nervous and started stuttering, and then passed out. After the incident, Jack endured terribly bullying from his peers. They mocked him and called him terrible names, further ruining his confidence. Jack knew his dream would never become a reality due to his stage fight.

Despite this, Jack knew he could still be involved in reporting. He'd do the background work which was fun, but Jack wished he could be the one doing the talking. He went to college down at University of New Orleans to get as far away from his reputation back home as eh could. He went into Bachelor of Communications in Broadcast and Digital Journalism to pave the way. In college, one of the classes thought it'd be a good idea for each student to start a podcast to play around with broadcasting on their own. Jack thought of it as a joke, but noticed his podcast was gaining a following. People liked how real he was, especially when he discussed living a life as a shy person. His teacher encouraged him to continue with this line of work and Jack become one of the hottest things to listen to on campus. He mostly talked about world issues and things going on in the area, but he threw in some comedic lines and acts with the help of some of his friends.

After graduating, Jack was approached by a New Orleans radio station to do an official show. The idea never occurred to him to start a radio show, especially due to his stage fright, but radio meant not being seen. He could be himself without anyone watching. It sounded like a good deal so he agreed. His show, called Jack Strong, became a hit. His morning show consisted of local news and music then he'd move into national news in the evening. It was a great job and he loved it. Jack hasn't abandoned his podcast which he still does, but that's more of talking about himself and goofing around with his friends.

Jack actually never head of Are You the One until him and a few of his friends saw a commercial for it at a bar. He thought the whole thing was ridiculous and couldn't believe it when his friends started pressuring him to audition. It was a ridiculous idea, but when Jack got dared to, he couldn't say no anymore. Finding out he was accepted was jaw dropping and he almost considered dropping the thing, but he thought it might make for some funny stories for his show. Now, he's curious what kind of mayhem will occur and hopefully, he might get some cash out of it.

xxSeeking:
"I feel like I want someone who'll compliment me. Like an opposites attract sort of thing. I'm already shy and having two shy people together is the worst. I'm having baby fever after my godson was born so someone family oriented would be nice."

Not one for hookups, most of Jack's relationships ended due to lack of investment from him or they expected the bad boy when they actually got the nerd. He likes girls who are the opposite of him. He's not very outgoing or brave, but can let loose when pushed by someone the opposite of him. Jack wants someone who'll push him to be the best he can be and try to understand him instead of seeing on just the surface. He's also craving children after his godson's birth and would like someone who wants to build a family with him.

DAY 01
Paradise Island, Bahamas
Image

The sound of crushing waves can be heard in the distance as fourteen complete strangers stand before James Haynes, the host of Are You the One, with their new home behind them. This luxury villa will be their home for the next seven weeks as they go on a journey to find their perfect match. Seven men stand on the left side and seven women on the right. A few are already eyeing the opposites appraising each of them.

"Welcome everyone. You are all here for one thing, because you all have one thing in common: you suck at relationships." A few people laugh nervously, some shrug more or less agreeing, and others grit their teeth awkwardly. "Each one of you has been put through an extensive matchmaking process, using psychologists, compatibility tests, professional matchmakers, and information from your friends, families, and exes. Through this, we've been able to find an ideal match for each of you."

"Take a look at those across from you. One of them is your perfect match and it's up to you to find out who it is. You will have seven chances to pair up and find those seven, perfect matches. If you can do that, you'll leave the island with love and one more thing..." He pauses for dramatic effect, the contestants stare at him excitedly, "You will split the largest cash prize ever offered in MTV History. ONE MILLION DOLLARS!" The group cheers, pleased by this news. "Good luck!"

After finishing the show introduction, everyone moved inside the house. The sky was slowly moving into dusk so it was time to get the intros out of the way. Daniel lead the way, taking on the role of pack leader like he does with most things. While the house was gorgeous and he definitely appreciated it, he was more drawn to the bar hidden behind the staircase leading upstairs. 'Finally, my area of expertise.' He found an unopened bottle of champagne with fourteen glasses. He preferred something a lot stronger, but he can make do with this for now. "I found the alcohol everybody! Let's get this party started!" He began to pour drinks to anyone who held their glass out. He made his signature flirty eyes to a few of the girls before serving everyone.

Daniel raised his glass, "May we all find love or at least a good time! I look forward to getting to know all of you and I can't wait to find my match among these beautiful ladies. To being rich in love and rich with love." Daniel took a drink, finishing his toast. He ended up drinking the whole thing at once. A glass of champagne wouldn't have any effect on him so chugging the thing wouldn't hurt him.

~
Confessional
"I was laying it on thick when I gave that toast. I'm here to win the money. The girls in this house better not pull the whole, " He pauses, making his voice high pitched and valley girl sounding, "I like him, but he's not my match' thing, because I'm not losing 70K just because you felt something for the wrong person. If I find an awesome girl, great, but I won't have a hopeless romantic ruining this for me... God, I feel bad for the girl you've paired with me."
~

The toasting having ended, introductions among the contestants began. Daniel was right in the middle of it. Did he go over to the cute blonde he saw earlier? Or red hair? He could go to one of the three brunette girls or the two black haired ones. He decided on one of the brunettes. He thought he heard her name started with K. She was easily one of the hottest girls in the house and had the 'Head Bitch in Charge' look about her. He liked the difficult ones. They were the hardest to win over and most likely his type. Assholes tend to go with the bitchy girls so why not start there?

Daniel approached her, going straight for the hug. It was appropriate considering what this show was about and it didn't hurt to have some physical contact. "Hey! How ya doin'? I'm Daniel."

Tony Rogers
{27~#006400~Colorado Springs, CO~Here}
Tony had been to many places, but never to a tropical location. It was certainly a big departure from Colorado. He had lived in Florida, but that was the Panhandle, not like Miami and if he was being honest with himself, he did prefer cooler weather and higher altitudes. Still he learned to adapted to new situations so he was pretty sure he would manage here. He did need to buy new closes though and his mother and one of his sisters helped him out in that area since he wasn't a fan of the activity. The place they were staying out was definitely fancy. His parents had their dream home now, but even it wasn't this big since his mother did not want to clean a big place. If by some chance he did win money at the end of this, he made a promise to himself to send his parents on a nice cruise. He did discuss it with his siblings and all were on board with the idea. If not, they already decided they would just do it anyway, but it would take longer.

Tony's mind was diverted to the present when their host talked about the game and it was then Tony started looking at the women. First one that did catch his eye was the blonde, but not not wanting to be rude he only glanced at her briefly before glancing at the other ladies. All of them were lovely, but this didn't surprise him. His mother watched these kinds of shows and he learned good-looking people always made it onto these shows. He didn't appreciate the host's comment about sucking at relationships. He knew he was good at relationships, he had been married and very dedicated to his late wife Emily. Thinking about her now still brought about some sadness, but he knew that his late wife would want him to be happy and he did want a family too, so he figured it wouldn't hurt to try this.

Confessional
"I honestly don't know what to expect in this kind of situation. I plan to take it as I go. Quick shout out to my family though, thanks for everything."

Once the host left, one of the guys took charge with passing out the drinks. Having seen the guys before the girls, Tony knew already this would be one of the 'party guys' and would have an extra eye on him. He himself wasn't a fan of wine, so grabbed a beer instead. Soon, one other guy joined him, one that Tony liked already.

"Who are you going after?"

"Well, the blonde initially caught my eye, but I plan on finding out more about these ladies before deciding who I am spending time with more."

He honestly didn't know what to do next though. This was a unique situation and he felt like a fish out of water at the moment.

XXXXXXXXElizabeth Sawyer
{ Twenty-Four | #259ADF | Dallas, Texas | HERE }

Elizabeth couldn't keep the smile off of her face as she sat through the open ceremony for the show. Getting on this show was a one in a million chance and she couldn't help her excitement at being one of the few chosen. The remark about being terrible at relationships was true for her so she couldn't help an awkward laugh. She hasn't had a ton of luck in the dating department so hopefully her luck will change now.

After finishing remarks, Elizabeth followed everyone to house and immediately was greeted with a glass of champagne. She was used to such things after dance performances so having a glass wouldn't hurt. However, she wasn't planning on getting drunk. Every speech her father gave her about alcohol and boys came to mind plus the fact that her actions would be seen on TV played a role in her choice too.

The guy giving the toast was one of the several guys that caught her eye during opening remarks. His speech was super cheesy, but she thought it was cute in a cheesy way. She took a drink from her glass, moving closer to Gracie. She was one of the girls she felt an instant connection with despite only meeting for the first time earlier today. Elizabeth knew she was at a bit of disadvantage coming into the house. She was the friend type more than the romantic kind so she felt she need to up her 'game' if she wanted any of the guys to notice her. Having a friend to sympathize and spill these doubts to would be necessary if she was going to survive.

It seemed like it was time to socialize with everyone. People were already partnering up and Elizabeth felt awkward about whole situation. Going up and talking to someone? Piece of cake. Going up and flirting with someone? A disaster waiting to happen. A few guys were still by themselves, but Elizabeth wasn't feeling up to that just yet. She definitely wanted to talk to the cutie pie with the curly brown hair and the All American boy, currently sitting by himself when his friend left. When Gracie mentioned exploring, it sounded like a better option than trying to talk to the guys themselves plus it could be an opener for the guys to approach them.

"We have to explore!" She grabbed Gracie's hand before practically dragging her upstairs. "We need the best bed before the others get taken." The sight of all the seven full sized beds brought an uncomfortable chuckle. She guessed they would try to get everyone to share a bed, but the fact that all seven of them were almost touch each other, it was more of a giant matress.
~
Confessional
"I get that they want all of us to be as close as possible, but I'd rather not roll over and be in bed with a different person. Hopefully, whoever is next to Gracie and I won't get those kind of ideas. I'm a hug cuddler, but not with strangers."
~
Feeling the need to share this newfound area, Elizabeth felt the need to share. Calling out from the top of the staircase, "Check out the bedroom!" Hopefully, one of the guys from earlier would follow them up.

Jack couldn't believe the mess he's gotten himself into. He despised TV shows like this one. The likelihood of him and this 'perfect match' ending up together was less than likely. Hell, nearly half only end up hooking up and then being 'friends.' Yes, he is being cynical and he was also trying to hide how uncomfortable he was. Jack wasn't the outgoing type this show looks for and he is as awkward as he is quiet. He felt like the host was talking directly at him when saying they all sucked at relationships. Jack's past relations didn't end on the best terms so he'd be surprised if any of these girls gave him the time of day.

Champagne was being served, followed by a mediocre at best toast. Daniel, he made a point of remembering all of the guys' names, reminded him of every jock he met in high school: cocky, full of himself, and an attention seeker. The guy was irritating, but Jack wasn't going to do anything about it unless Daniel pissed him off. It was too early to tell, but Jack could tell this guy is going to be the asshole of the house.

Needing something stronger than champagne, Jack got to work making himself a whiskey neat at the bar. He's been told he's more outgoing when he is intoxicated, but starting the night off drunk wouldn't do. '"Don't do anything stupid, Armstrong." He mutters to himself as he takes a drink, leaning on the staircase.

He guessed now was the time to talk to talk to the girls in the house. He saw a few girls he'd like to get to know. The pretty girl in the black dress was in a group with another girl and Jake and Josh. Jack wasn't the type to try and join a group he wasn't close with. He saw a few people he would've liked to have a chat with, but when he heard someone talking about the bedroom, Jack thought that sounded better than trying to approach someone.

He made his way upstairs, surveying every inch of the house. It was a nice vacation home for the time so he was happy about that. Two girls stood upstairs, the blonde and the redhead. The blonde was the stereotypical American beauty while the redhead was more the cute, quirky girl. They looked to be nice, but appearances can be deceiving. Jack himself is a prime example. He took a seat on one of the beds, claiming it as his own and whoever wanted to join him. Jack wasn't picky. Taking a breathe and forcing something out of his mouth so he wouldn't sit there in brooding silence like he usually does. "I guess they want us up close and personal."

Gwynivere feigned wiping away her loving tears at the proposal. "Yes! Yes! A thousand times yes!" Gwyn half laughed through her acceptance. She wasn't as TV-dramatic as she wanted to be, but she thought she could at least give it her best shot! She wanted to be entertaining, and even though she wasn't willing to do just anything, she felt that Franky's company inspired her to be more playful and more spontaneous.

Suddenly, another drink was in her hand. Before she could decline, she realized Joshua had made his move. He paid Gwyn the respect of acknowledging her, but it wasn't hard to tell that he had eyes for Franky. What wasn't to like? Franky was a catch and a half, and Gwyn had learned that in the first few hours of their acquaintance. The rest was history... Sooner or later, Gwynivere knew Franky would get scooped up. Parting is such sweet sorrow, Wyn thought.

Franky clinked Gwyn's glass hastily, but Gwyn didn't drink just yet. She had taken a long look around the room. Josh had lost her interest not for any consequential reason other than his interest in her friend, but it wasn't long before another new stranger caught her eye. Jack. He looked intimidating. Tattoos cover him from head to toe and God knows where else. She held her full shot glass near her heart in a relaxed position, marveling at the sight of him. He was totally, absolutely gorgeous. Something blocked her view. It was Jake.

Jake had joined their little party. Gwynivere thought his introduction was odd and forward, but she shook it off and engaged in the conversation with the same consistent enthusiasm. By the time Gwyn was in the position to indulge in another look at Jack, he had gone. She felt a little put out. The conversation moved forward. She didn't want to admit how much she hated small talk, but after all, it was in the name of 70 grand. She would just have to grit her teeth and bear it.

Gwyn tried to be as eloquent as Franky, but after Franky took her turn, Gwyn said,
"I'm a sound engineer in Nashville. Not only do I combat out-of-phase waveforms, but I also write them!" She stopped. "That doesn't make any sense, I mean I write in-phase waveforms, that doesn't make any sense either, well I-- ...shit. What I'm trying to say is- ah, is I'm a songwriter." She cackled at herself. "I got there eventually! I'm not as coherent as Franky, apparently." As ridiculous as Gwynivere sounded, she had a good sense of humor when it came to humiliating herself. While it sucked to get tongue tied, she didn't mind stumbling over her sentences, it happens to everyone. Unfortunately, I doesn't happen to everyone on live television.

Daniel couldn't believe how easy this was becoming. It was the first night and he had the attention of the hottest girl in the house. Strategy wise, he should try to get to know the others girls tonight, too. If he only focused on Katherine, he'd have a tougher time finding his match. But what the hell, it was only the first few hours.

Daniel watched with a smile as she batted those pretty eyes at him. The flirting game was only beginning and something told Daniel she plays to win, just like him. A potential match possibly. He leaned on the table, mocking her by taking a drink from his champagne flute. He never broke eye contact with her as he took a sip. Daniel knew he was right about her. She was the type of girl who wanted to be in charge. However, Daniel didn't fall for every pretty girl he set his eye on and Katherine would be mistaken if she thought he would be wrapped around her finger.

"I guess you can call me Dan, if you like," Daniel says playfully, "I've seen a few things I tonight. A certain lady in red has caught my eye, makes me feel like a bull. I'm tempted to go ahead and charge, but I'm being a gentleman tonight." What he said might be on the crude side, but he had a feeling Katherine would approve.

Daniel heard the girl.... blondie he thinks, call out about the bedroom upstairs. He didn't know what bed arrangements entail, but it was likely going to be tight and push them all together. Hell, if he gets to spend the night with one of the girls in bed it's been a good day. That was with no sex involved too. Hooking up the first night will lead to disaster. A slow seduction would be the most effective to win any of these girls over. Rushing things leads to attachment and attachment to the wrong person means no 70K. If the girl in front of him is his match, great, but he wasn't about to get too attached, although she is his current front runner.

"Would it be bold of me to ask you to check out the bedrooms with me?" Daniel didn't seen any reason for her to say no, but you never know.

Elizabeth took a second to flop on one the beds nearby. It was so soft, felt like she was on a cloud. If she wasn't nervous/excited and had a drink, she might've fallen asleep right there. It still boggled her mind about possibly sharing a bed with one of the guys. Elizabeth has always been told she was old fashioned, but sleeping, and she means just sleeping with a stranger after first meeting them, felt wrong. It was the way she was raised and logically, it made sense to her. Sleeping with a stranger sounds like it could lead to wrong impressions. Elizabeth is super happy to have a bedmate who's a girl to make this easier. She would have no idea what to say if a guy asked her to share a bed.

"I guess they want us up close and personal." Elizabeth shot up from the bed when she heard a new voice. It was too deep to be Gracie's. The tattooed guy from earlier sat across them on another bed. His name started with a J she thinks, but she believes their are two other guys with J names here. Elizabeth didn't know what to think of him, but he was very handsome, in a dangerous bad boy way. His remark put her a bit on edge, because he wasn't sure if it was a statement or some kind of pick up line. Again, Elizabeth couldn't get a good read on him.

"Maybe, I'm more of a 'get to know you better before hoping into bed' type. I'm Elizabeth by the way." Elizabeth wanted to start off being honest with the guys. If they were after just a hook up, then they should find someone else. She knew this could put her in a bad position with the guys. Saying that the deed was off the table too earlier tends to make men leave, more men than she'd like to admit. Hopefully, Gracie could jump in and try to save this conversation since it's getting awkward for Elizabeth.

Maybe Jack's opening remark wasn't the right choice for the two girls. Elizabeth almost jumped off the lead she was lounging on when Jack spoke. She must've not noticed him enter which isn't uncommon. Jack has been told he could've been a thief with how quiet he can be. Not off to a good start.

"Hey, I'm Jack. Sorry if I scared you. I should work on getting louder, I guess." He took a drink from his whiskey, trying to distract himself from this conversation. He could tell Elizabeth didn't feel comfortable around him. She seemed very sweet in a Southern, preacher's daughter kind of way. Hell, her appearance even reminded him of how people, like her Father, think angels should look. Jack would have to guess she's going to most inexperienced when it came to relationships, like how people are supposed to stay 'pure' till marriage. If she stared spouting off that his tattoos were going to damn him to hell, Jack... didn't know what he would do, but she'd become his least favorite.

Confessional

"I'm surprised a girl like her would come onto this show. She does know what tends happens here, right?"
~

Taking another swig, Jack stays seated seeing if either girl wants to continue this conversation, or if he should make his way back downstairs. It depends on Red, because Jack doesn't think he'll get any more out of Elizabeth.

Gracie raced after Elizabeth to look at their sleeping quarters. She never even bothered to grab a drink herself. She did drink, but only socially. Her father was French after all, so she actually became familiar with wine before she was legal. Still her parents had taught her the responsibility of it. She never drank when going into risky areas or when vlogging. She had to set a good example after all.

After checking out the sleeping quarters, it wasn't long before they were joined by one of the guys.

"I guess they want us up close and personal."

Gracie giggled at that but before she could reply, Elizabeth commented.

"Maybe, I'm more of a 'get to know you better before hoping into bed' type. I'm Elizabeth by the way."

It now just occurred to Gracie that Elizabeth didn't want to bunk with a guy. She had never bunk with a guy either, unless she counted all of the times she had to share a tent with her father. If she was honest with herself, she wouldn't want to bunk with a guy either. It was a good thing she was comfortable with Elizabeth because she wasn't sure she could bunk with any of the other girls, even though she liked several of them. Soon the man introduced himself.

"Hey, I'm Jack. Sorry if I scared you. I should work on getting louder, I guess."

"Hi there Jack, I am Gracie! And no worries you didn't scare me in the least. Personally I am just glad we got nice beds. I can't tell you how many times I've slept in a tent off grid. Now those times are an experience, let me tell you." she said, giggling.

Confession
"Seriously, this one time I was actually sleeping in the middle of the jungle in India. I got wet a lot, but with my good tent, at least I never got wet at night. I did learn a valuable lesson though, never go camping during the raining season hehe."

Looking around she decided it was time to rejoin the crowd.

"Hmmm, might we rejoin the crowd now? I never got myself a drink yet. I do hope they have a good fruity wine down there, or better, a margarita machine."

Tony watched as Josh headed off to talk to a couple ladies. Seeing others had started interacting, noticed a few missing. It was then he recalled that the blonde and red-head had headed somewhere else. Probably looking for their sleeping quarters. Deciding he would check it out himself, he headed for that that area.

Sure enough as soon as he arrived, he saw the two ladies and one of the guys. Looking at the beds, he came to the quick conclusion that they would be sharing. He already knew right off he wouldn't be asking any of the ladies. Not only would it not be appropriate, but it might make the girls uncomfortable. He knew not all guys were like him, but he was sticking to his morals. He didn't mind sharing beds with a guy though. He's had to share beds with his brothers in the past.

"Good evening. I hope I am not interrupting anything. This is certainly nice place. Oh, my name is Anthony, but you can call me Tony. Everyone in my family does."
