Aero Lassar

"As silent as a breeze, as fast as a hurricane."

0 · 1,217 views · located in Secluded Woods

a character in “As an apprentice...”, as played by Asher MstrImmortalis

Description

Name: Aero Lassar
"Who said fighting from a distance or the shadows is cowardly? That's bull. He/she's just whining."
Age: 14
Gender: Male
Craft: Using knives
Theme Song 1: Joe Satriani- Attack (Expect this to play when fighting him.)
Skils:
Archery- Aero is fairly good at archery, but still a novice.
Hidden and Unseen Movement- He has enough sense to tip-toe or to slow his foot's descent to be more quiet. However, he isn't anywhere near the Rangers' level.
Saxe and Throwing Knife Skills: Aero has never heard about these weapons. Thus, he doesn't know how to use them.
Speed: Aero is an excellent runner and can run at a very fast pace for long periods of time.
Climbing: Aero can climb a tree... But nothing else, really.
Intelligence: For anything falling into book smarts, places and people, Aero fails. Common sense, he has. Aero is an excellent advisor for descision making.
Oakleaf color: Bronze
Homeland: An unnamed village that was burned down.
Description: Aero has green, short hair with green eyes.He wears a smirk or a smile usually. He has a small and thin body, made for running and sneaking around. His skin is white, with a few burn marks on his back and one on his left arm.
Picture:
Image
Equipment:
Cloak- Rangers are never found without their mysterious ranger cloak. The trick of the cloak is the special woven pattern of forestal colors, similar to that of camouflage, but more complex. The cloak is the main thing that
marks a person as a ranger.
Image
Armor-He/She wears light leather armor under her cloak, it isn't much though it can provide plenty protection for his/her needs.
Image
Ranger's Apprentice Recurve Bow-
Image
Double Knife Scabbard- The double knife scabbard is attached to a ranger's belt, with slots for the saxe knife and the throwing knife. It is issued only to rangers, and cannot be obtained by anyone else.
Saxe Knife- The saxe knife is a long knife rangers discovered from the Skandian sea raiders. It is very sharp and made of extremely strong metal, being able to bend and break a sword and not even leave a scratch on the
knife's blade. It is also balanced for throwing.
Image
Throwing Knife- The throwing knife is smaller knife, designed for being thrown. Extra width at the top allows for balance with the hilt, which helps drive it home in the ranger's target.
Image
Ranger Strikers- A newer ranger weapon which is a brass tube fitted to the ranger's hand with a brass ball on both sides used to strike an enemy, mainly good for stunning or blunt damage. At the middle is a brass tube,
long enough to fit in the wearer's hand, and on either side is a lead-weighted brass knob, used to strike at an enemy, or used to throw at an enemy, stunning him from up to 6 meters away (in the hands of an expert user). The
average ranger carries two, and they can be screwed together to make a club. This extends their stunning range to 20 meters. They are, essentially, fistloads.
(The above is equipment you'll recieve at camp, feel free to put personal items such as jewelery.)
Clothing: (See the picture.)
Arrows:
General Purpose Arrows- This arrow is the standard issue arrow of the Rangers and the Temujai because of its ability to pierce armour. Its tip is very pointed. Because of this arrow's lack of sides that secure the arrow in
the flesh and cause more damage if the victim attempts to dislodge the projectile, the arrow can be removed, sanitized, and reused, although the Rangers, who rely on swift, qiuck and killing shots to the head or vital organs for
a fleeting end, consider this idea distasteful.
Personality: You can never get rid of Aero's smile or smirk. In fact, he would do it whenever he damn wants. However, there are times when that smirk goes away and Aero turns serious. That's when you shouldn't piss him off. In the times he is smiling or smirking, that's when you should be wary. He might be plotting a prank or something. Either that, or he's trying to remember something funny. During battle, he would use ranged attacks as much as he can. Sometimes, Aero would go for a point blank shot. In close combat, Aero relies on guerilla tactics. He gets in, do a few slashes on the limbs to weaken the opponent, then gets out. There are also rare times when Aero would try to follow up with an arrow after attacking up close.
Horse: n/a
Relationships: n/a
History: Aero is just an ordinary mischievous boy in a village. After all, every village has their own troublemaker. Aero is his village's. However, everything changed in the age of 12, when a group of bandits had come to his village and practically burned it down before anyone could do anything. Aero managed to get away alive and hide himself from the bandits until the knights showed up. However, he was in despression for a full year after that, until he remembered an advice- Or was it an insult?-"Do something good with your life you piece of shit!" And thus, Aero did as much as he can to become a Ranger's Apprentice. He's ready to overcome any obstacle in his way with a giant smile or smirk in his face.
Likes: Archery, any kind of event of doing that would seem funny to him, knives, his friends, jokes
Dislikes: Bandits, those who are "too serious"
Other: Aero had hurt his left arm when he tried to escape the flames of his village. Thus, it is his weaker arm.

So begins...

Cassandra Elyonill lead her apprentices back to the camp and sighed.
"Arci..." She nodded. "It's about the caves."

Arci shook her head and turned to look at her apprentices.
"Okay. First off, tell me, what magic do you specialize in and what spells do you know? I'll tell you the five types of magic. Alteration, one of the five schools of magic, affects the world around it by altering the laws of reality and manipulating it to one's own accord. The School of Alteration involves the manipulation of the physical world and its natural properties. This skill makes it easier to cast spells like Waterbreathing, magical protection, and Paralysis. Conjuration is the school dedicated to summoning creatures or objects the caster desires. The School of Conjuration governs raising the dead or summoning creations from Oa different world. This skill makes it easier to cast these spells as well as Soul Traps, bindings, and more. Destruction magic provides many means of inflicting damage on enemies. Destruction spells use elements like fire, frost, electricity, water, light, dark and more... To damage health; an enemy's menergy can also be reduced. The School of Destruction involves the harnessing the energies of the elements and other damaging attacks. Mostly, this is an offense type. Illusion magic focuses on changing the perception of the world from the viewpoint of the target. The School of Illusion involves manipulating the mind of the enemy. This skill makes it easier to cast spells like Fear, Calm, and Invisibility. Restoration magic focuses on spells that cure physical ailments. The School of Restoration involves control over life forces. This skill makes it easier to cast spells like Healing, Turn Undead, and magical Wards."

"Wait... What about the caves...?" Aero asked, still a little doubtful that vampires actually exsit. After all, they were just myths to him...

He listened in on the few types of magic, then sighed. His old friend would love to learn Illusion and Destruction magic, mainly because of how he can elude the enemy away and strike their weak points. Before the thoughts of his old friend got to him, Aero shook his head and payed attention.

Valina listened to Arci explain magic, only half paying real attention though. There was a reason she didn't want to be a mage, and it was because magic quite frankly scared her. Mostly because to her, it looked like something you had to be very careful with or it would back fire. Maybe she was wrong, but she didn't really want to find out all that much.
Valina looked at Aero as he spoke, asking about the caves. She was also kind of curious about them, but her thoughts had been side tracked when Arci gave her mages the whole magic speech. Listening probably could be considered eaves dropping, but she shrugged that thought off. It's not like she had payed attention.

Cassandra Elyonill had also only half-listened. She was busy thinking of a few things, like for example, an answer to Aero's question.
"Well... You see, we haven't explored the caves much." She looked at her Apprentices, as a slight grin was hidden in the shadow of her hood. "Yet."

Arci nodded.
"That's right, we were planning on taking you guys down there." She said. "All of you." But then she looked weary. "I was hoping I'd get to teach my apprentices more."

Cass nodded, also.
"So was I, but it seems we may be in a tight spot. The three bandits said around 500 were coming."

Arci had a puzzled look.
"Wait, wait, wait... What?"

Cass recounted what had happened earlier with her, her apprentices, and the bandits. Of course, she left out most of the details and it was a very rough outline. Rangers didn't enjoy sharing secrets, and rarely told anyone of their smallest missions.

Aero sighed. "500 bandits...? Didn't he saw two-hundred?" then again, it didn't really matter. Either way, the odds were against them when it came to numbers, quite heavily too. He listened in on Cassandra's explanation, and he noticed that a few details were left out. Nonetheless, Aero kept his mouth shut about it. "So, we are going to the caves to do what exactly?" He asked a lot of questions, but that's mainly because most of what he knows are related to farming and such. It was peasants' work, but Aero was born into a family of farmers. It couldn't be helped.

Sigil wasn't exactly sure what was going on but, five-hundred bandits didn't sound too good. Three bandits might have been good practice but five-hundred was an entirely different story. Quite frankly, Sigil was worried. Two women, albeit, trained women and four novices against five-hundred bandits? That was usually something that was called "bad-odds" where Sigil had come from. The boy glanced at the Ranger woman. She didn't seemed too worried. Guess it comes with the job, Sigil shrugged.

On the other hand, this would probably provide an excellent chance for both the mages and the Rangers to practice their respective skills.

"So," the green haired boy asked, "We are going to the caves to do what exactly?"

That was a fairly good question. Sigil looked at the two women inquisitively. "Yes, what is the plan?" Immediately, a bunch of ideas popped up in the boy's head. "Are we going to find a way to kick the bandits' behinds?"

Cassandra Elyonill cocked her head to the side and sighed.
"Yes, Aero, I suppose he did say two hundred forgive my mistake." She shook her head. She listened to all of the Apprentices and when they were finished, she said "Aero. Valina. I don't suppose you read that journal I gave you two earlier?" She asked, referring to the journal she'd handed them that had all the information about the caves they knew.
"Of course not, I handed it to you two right before the bandit situation. I'll make lunch while you four apprentices discuss that with Arci." She said.

Arci laughed.
"No, no! You're the tactician, Cass." She said with genuine respect in her voice.

Cassandra Elyonill nodded.
"Well," She started, and noticed Arci had gone to go cook. "You three should know by now that the caves are inside our camp." She said. "But the six of us against two hundred bandits? I'm sorry, but Ranger's don't have powers, even if it may seem so. And that's just not smart. Plus, you have to remember, these bandots are joining vampires." She let that sink in. "Probably five-hundred odd, more or less. And these vampires do know magic."

Aero couldn't help it. He facepalmed himself. "Two hundred bandits, plus five hundred vampires?" Aero muttered, shaking his head and looking downward. "I seriously... Seriously don't like those odds...." He sighed. "So we got bandits and vampires, the latter knowing magic. What are we going to do?" Aero asked Cassandra.

Sigil looked up to the sky as he generally did when he was thinking. Seven hundred enemies wasn't a wonderful prospect--the chances of victory were near nothing if not completely nothing. There were two choices in facing such odds: One, stay far away from the adversaries and out of dangers way completely; two, outsmart the enemy and wipe them out purely by wit. Sigil wasn't usually one to run.

"Perhaps we don't have to face the bandits and vampires head on. Caves are extremely hazardous to large groups of travelers--a single earthquake could bring the whole structure down on them." The brown haired boy flashed his brilliant white teeth. "Perhaps we could use that to our advantage!"

Cassandra Elyonill was deep in thought for a few seconds by the time she processed what Aero had said.
"I seriously... Seriously don't like those odds...." She nodded towards him thoughtfully. "Either you aren't a fool, or you have the mind of a Ranger." She paused. "I'm hoping both, Aero." She had been listening to Silgil's answer also.
"That could work. But Valina's right. I don't want those caves destroyed. But..." She stopped. A plan had started formulating in her head, and she wasn't sure of it so far. Just bits an peices coming to her. She looke at Sigil again.
"Find Alexis and tell Arci she needs to teach you two warding spells and destruction, preferably fire, spells after dinner." She looked at her two Apprentices. "You two. There's a lot to be taught to you but not yet. I have a few chores for you two. You both can start by tidying up the table and setting it out, then afterwards cleaning the house."
She wasn't going to tell the apprentices this, but the reason for their chores, and they'd have a lot of them, was because they needed to learn patience. Not only that, but they needed a Ranger's infinite patience. The Mage's Apprentices, however, wouldn't need that amount of patience. Mages and Sorcerers usually are better with less patience, as magic just requires that mind set. Most, anyway.

Sigil's grin wavered a bit at Valina's comment. She was right. Caves were meant for exploring--not exploding. The Sigil that had utterly loved nature purely because of its beauty would have thought of that immediately; at times like these, Sigil felt that he was losing himself to the magic. Magic was like water, in a way. It was always trying to collect itself, wanting to join with more magic, leading the users to seek more and more knowledge... It had driven many Mages insane.

The boy's smile faded as he thought. He didn't want to lose himself.

"Find Alexis and tell Arci: she needs to teach you two warding spells and destruction--preferably fire--spells, after dinner." The woman, who Sigil now knew was called Cassandra, ordered.

Sigil's smile quickly returned. "Alright! The first part won't be to hard!" He was pretty sure Alexis--who he didn't think was too fond of his hyperactivity--was still with the group of apprentices. "Hey Alexis, let's go find Master Arci." And with that, Sigil ran off.

Now, where had Master Arci gone? The brown haired boy had to think for a moment. Oh, that's right--she had gone to make some chow! Sigil took a deep breath and followed the smell of food and, even though it was very light, his extra sensitive sense of smell led him off in the direction of the Master Mage. "Master Arci, Master Cassandra told me to tell you that you should teach us two destruction spells--preferably fire--and a... a barding spell!"

Aero sighed. "Chores again? I'm lucky I was born a farmboy... I'm used to this work." Aero muttered as he walked over to the table. He listened in on the Mage's Apprentices' conversation about their training. Man... I know Asher would LOVE to be apprenticed by Arci... Aero thought. While the memory of his village being burned down isn't exactly pleasant, Aero had grown used to the reminiscence of his old home. The memory of his best friend no longer pains him to the point of tears.

Arci considered the question.
"Well, to be truthful, I'm hoping Cass comes up with something." She shook her head. "But if all else fails, yes. We will be fighting them." She stopped for a second and stared hard at Aero. "Tell me, Aero," She looked at Alexis. "You too, do you two know there's more types of magic?" She looked back to Aero. "Do either of you have weapons?"

Aero looked at Arci. "Uh... Duh." Aero responded, rather rudely. He pulled out a knife, and handed it to Arci. "This is the one Cassandra gave to me, though. If you don't want to do whatever you are going to do, then give it back to me." Aero whispered, not knowing it would be in vain.

Aero took a step back. "So what are you going to do?" He asked. Aero crossed his arms and leaned against the table he was supposed to clean.

Valina watched from a distance at whatever Arci was going to do with Aero's weapon. Valina herself wasn't very fond of magic, mostly because she couldn't control it. Looking around, she found the table she and Aero were supposed to set up. With one last glance at the two boys and Arci, Valina sighed and went to clean and set up the table. She had made sure there were spots for everyone, figuring everyone would be eating together. Then, she remembered that another chore was to clean the house, and began to make her way inside to clean.

Arci nodded at Alexis.
"Yes, many people do use magic in different ways. Especially when many people come from different universes." She looked around at them. "And don't think that's crazy, after all I come from a land called Tamriel and Cass from Araluen. You each come from different lands than the other." She took his knife and held it sideways, palms up, resting on both of her hands. Then, suddenly, he aura could be seen by everyone. The aura itself looked human, if you counted out the transparent silver smoke-like dragon wings and tail. The air had a faint smell of vanilla as her arua grabbed the knife and kept if floating. Then, she shaped her aura into the shape of what looked like a small table.
"A basic and advanced thing about Alchemy." She concentrated on her aura. "Transmutation." Suddenly, it solidified and in front of her was an Arcane Enchanter. She placed the knife down on it.
"Now, Aero." She looked up at the Ranger in training. "What's your favorite element?"

Aero watched inane as the scene unfolded before him. "Wow... I've never seen nor heard of alchemy before..." Aero muttered. His gaze shifted from the strange table to Arci as she asked him what was his favorite element. "Uh.... Hm... Either wind or lightning... The wind is free, and you can't see it, yet it's the one thing to keep us alive... The lightning is powerful, and it strikes down those who raise themselves up before others... I think I'll go with lightning. If that doesn't count as an element, then I guess wind." Aero responded. "What are you going to do with the knife?"

(Just so you know, it's the saxe knife that Aero gave to Arci.)

Arci chuckled.
"No, this isn't Alchemy. Alchemy isn't even magic, it's a different type of science. This, though, is a different type of magic." She laid the blade on the table, closed her eyes and gifted the blade knowlege. The pentagram-like lines on the table started glowing blue, the candles flared to life, the orb glowed ever brighter and the symbols on the table seemed to copy themselves, lift off of the table like holograms and them fly into the blade. Some of her magical aura also seeped into the blade. Then, just as suddenly, the whole display stopped and the blade was sitting on the table. Only difference was the slightly blue glow around it and the blue... Button? On the hilt. She handed it back to Aero. It did seem to have an electrical feild, but magic so it couldn't be felt.
"The blue dot on the hilt was magically burned into the blade, like a tattoo. When you attack an opponent, put your thumb against the 'tatoo' and it'll shock them. The harder you press it, but not too hard so you can hold it lightly, and the amount you will your blade will determine it's power. Also, it will drain. After about a week of hitting living things with that blade non-stop, it'll stop shocking them. If you want it to remain as a normal blade, then just keep it. If you want it to shock again, then bring it back to me." She looked to Sigil and Alexis.
"The type of magic you've just witnessed is called enchanting."

Arci's brows furrowed.
"Well, that's a unique question." She looked him directly in the eyes. "Magic can be very dangerous, Sigil. More than you can comprehend. This version of Arcane Enchanter doesn't let you enchant anything but weapons, I have symbols on the underside of this that... 'Scan' the item. If it's any type of weapon I've ever come across in my life, it can be enchanted with this table. Now, other types of table from different Multiverses may not be so secure and, in effect, you could enchant yourself." She grew more serious. "Don't ever try it." She looked at each of her Apprentices. "I'm going to teach you all I know about enchanting." She looked at Aro, who happened to still be with them. "I would suggest you get to doing your work; Cass can get cranky." Then she shrugged. "If you won't, though, you're welcome to watch."

"Dang..." Aero looked at the hilt of his saxe knife. It DID had a tattoo, and if you tried hard enough, something could be felt from that exact area. "Thanks Arci." He bowed and ran off to go back to cleaning, just like a little kid who got a gift. Aero looked around. "Huh... Table's clean... I should probably help Valina..." Aero muttered.

The boy ran to the house, grabbing a mop and a bucket of water on the way. "Valina, let me help!" Aero called out. "Sorry for not helping you earlier with the table." The boy hastily grabbed his mop, soaked it, then went to cleaning the floor. It's almost like a sterotypical scene of a cabin boy in a pirate ship because his captain told him to. Only, it wasn't; it was an apprentice cleaning someone's house for -oddly enough- training to be a Ranger.
